MaryAnne stepped into the studio to talk about the 26th Annual Northumberland County Fair starting this Tuesday and going all the way through Saturday!

SPEAKER_00

Here's what's going on in your community. Look at all the captivating, fascinating things there are to do. It's Talk of the Town with Mickey Blue.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, it's Mickey Blue, and it is another day here in the GOAT studio, and it looks like it is officially time for fair season. Specifically looking here in Sunbury, we actually have the 26th annual Northumberland County Fair happening at Tall Cedars Grove, 522 at Seven Points Road. And I'm joined by Mary Ann to talk a little bit about that. So good morning. Good morning. How are you doing today?

SPEAKER_00

I am tired. Thank you for asking. Me too. I am right there with you. Well, I was at the fairgrounds the last two days that we're setting up. Okay. Setting up today. So tomorrow at 3 o'clock, we're ready for everyone to go roll right in. That's right. That is very soon, isn't it? It is very, very soon. As a matter of fact, some of the judging for the exhibitors, some of that has already started at 8 a.m. this morning. I know that at 10 a.m. the baked goods are being judged. Okay. And once the baked goods are judged, we have a bake sale the first night of the fair. So you can come in and look and see what was made, and you can also taste what is made by buying something from the bake sale.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, don't threaten me with the good time.

SPEAKER_00

I know. All I can say is a rum cake.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, that came through the table yesterday. Rum cake?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay. So this is a pretty long event starting tomorrow, going all the way through Saturday.

SPEAKER_00

Through Saturday till the last firework has faded.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, of course there's going to be fire.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, those have fireworks. The fair starts on Saturday at 9 a.m. and runs through 9 p.m. Usually around there is when the fireworks start and last one fades, and that's the end of the fair. That wraps it up. That wraps it up for another year.

SPEAKER_01

So I know there's free parking.

SPEAKER_00

Free parking, free entertainment, and we charge $1 for admission.

SPEAKER_01

Wow, that's it.

SPEAKER_00

That's it. So if you don't, yeah, and if you don't feel like cooking, just come in, your buck. So many food vendors, so many people to choose from. Everything's good.

SPEAKER_01

How many how many food vendors?

SPEAKER_00

I think there's 13 different food vendors this year, and we try not to overlap things. Right. Makes sense. Yeah, and there's some excellent cooking going on.

SPEAKER_01

So, like, what else you kind of got going on? You said free entertainment, who you have?

SPEAKER_00

We start our fair week with Jeremy Goodling. We will have Night Howls will be there on Wednesday along with Nate Myers and the Aces. Thursday, we have Bloodline and Light Switch. On Friday, we start at 4:30 with Bonnie and Larry. And then we have Alexis Bradford on our main stage. There's a little something-something planned to go along with her show. And then on Saturday, we have Jake and Friends, Strawberry Ridge, Mountain House Revival, and we end the fair with dudes.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, well, that's a pretty good lineup.

SPEAKER_00

It is.

SPEAKER_01

That's a great lineup. And then I see that you have some other interesting things going on. So, like, what are the kind of events you got?

SPEAKER_00

We have garden tractor pulls. This is our 11th year. That happens on Tuesday night. Think of your dad's lawnmower, your riding lawnmower, but a little bit of extra juice to it. So on Thursday night, you might enjoy. We take kids and put them on the back of sheep and let them ride like they're uh riding a bull. Friday night, we're doing the farmer triathlon, which we have pedal tractor pulls, your metal pedal tractor that used to ride as a kid. And they are in adult sizes and kid sizes. Okay. That is open to anyone. Anyone can participate in the farmer triathlon. So it's the pedal tractor pull, the hay bale stacking and hay bale throwing are part of that. On Saturday, the farmer triathlon wraps up. And also we have a lot of our shows, our animal shows going on on Saturday.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. And then, of course, on top of all of that, you have a bunch of other vendors that are going to be there.

SPEAKER_00

We're coming along better and better every year.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's that's how you always want it to be. That's right. We're the biggest we're the best little fair in PA. I love that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So if somebody wanted to learn more, where could they go? They could go to nocofair.com, N-O-C-O-Fair.com, or you can find us on Facebook under Northumberland County Fair. Thank you for coming in and chat with me about this. Is there anything else you want to add on quick? Nope, nope. We're just outside of Sunbury at seven points at the crossroads, hang a left, and uh back there about a mile, and you'll see the signs everywhere pointing you which way to go to get to the Northumberland County Fair.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, well, thank you so much for coming in, chat with me.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you for having me. This was fun.

SPEAKER_01

This was a lot of fun, and this is a really cool thing that's going on here in Sunbury. Yes, it is. All right, well, thank you again for coming in. Have a fair day. You too. I like that.
