So I recently got my YouTube channel reviewed and he basically said that it sucked. This is actually gonna be the first video plastered on my channel um moving forward so that way whoever comes by they just have a better understanding of what it is. So that brings me to the point about who this channel is for and who this channel isn't for. Hey, what's up, you guys? It's Michelle. Welcome or welcome back to Chats with Michelle. So I recently got my YouTube channel reviewed and he basically said that it sucked. I'm just kidding, he didn't necessarily say that it sucks. Well, not in those words, anyways. He didn't say that it sucked, but he did give me a lot of really great critique, and there really was an entire method to my madness and why I did this whole thing in the first place. Basically, I just wanted to get a complete stranger's review of it. Like, if you were to look at my channel, what does it read? What does it say? How does it come off? And this particular person, I found them online, that is like their job essentially, and what they do, they have a successful channel of their own. I knew I wasn't necessarily this person's target audience, so I knew that there were some things that I actually should take and I have taken into account and were helpful, but I also knew there were some things that I would need to just take with a grain of salt, being that I know that I'm not necessarily the channels that they target necessarily, and it did show in the review in the examples that they were giving as well. And I actually will share my thoughts on the critique later on in the video. So if that's something you're interested, be sure to stay tuned. Also, I will have timestamps below so you can go ahead and skip ahead to that if you would want to as well. And the reason why I want to chat about that later is because I wanted to start with this first. I want to be clear about who this channel is for and who it possibly isn't for, as well as what the mission and the vision behind the channel is. So this is actually gonna be the first video plastered on my channel um moving forward, so that way whoever comes by, they just have a better understanding of what it is. More than anything, this year, and just moving forward, one of the things that I'm really, really, really wanting to focus on is clarity, clarity in all aspects of my life. So let me just share a little bit of who I am. If this is your first time here, and you're a little bit unsure about what it is that I do here. So, first and foremost, my name is Michelle. I am Michelle and I focus on all things keeping your promises to yourself, not only you keeping your promises to yourself, but also how I'm doing that as well through navigating adulthood and pursuing purpose. Now you may be asking yourself, okay, cool, what makes you the expert in this so-called topic of keeping your promises to yourself? Well, let me just share a little bit about myself, and I'm gonna just say this on a side note really quick. One thing that people who know me, friends or family, they will tell you that I am painfully private. I just, I just am. That is something that I have, I think, learned to be over the course of life. So transparently, I'm working on being a bit more vulnerable and just being more mindful and figuring out, right? We talk about navigating adulthood. So essentially navigating how to do that, how to share my wounds and not necessarily my scars, but also taking you on this journey. So, back to what makes me the expert in all of this, right? So, let me just share a little bit about myself. I am newly in my 30s and I have had the journey of a lifetime, it feels like. Now I know I haven't done everything, but I've just been through so many ebbs and flows, so many pivots in my life. So, a little bit about me. Essentially, I didn't go to college right away, I was working in the banking industry, and I just kind of came to my width's end of to the point where I was like, Yeah, I cannot do this for the rest of my life. Like, I was okay at it, but I didn't want to necessarily do that forever, and I didn't want to be stuck there essentially. So that kind of put me on this path of pursuing purpose, and what does it mean to do your God-given purpose here on this earth? So then that took me down the route of what would it look like if I were to pivot and go to school to learn all things production, media, all the things, and that's essentially what I did. I went to school, I got my degree in mass communication, television production, essentially journalism as well, reporting, and I completely pivoted. I left the finance, banking, industry, and I went into full head media. So that brings me to the point about who this channel is for and who this channel is isn't for, and how I am essentially, I think, rebranding this channel this year and moving forward. I really do want to focus on the things of keeping your promises to yourself. What does that look like as far as like accountability, as far as planning? I think I know rather that that is my strength. I am really, really great at planning. In fact, in my career, one of the things that I was told often is I need a Michelle. Like, she's just so great at what she does. I know that I am really great at ideation and getting something all the way to the end, and I know that's my strength. And with the different ebbs and flows of life and pivoting and all what comes with that, I'm like, my goodness, imagine if more people, more young women, more specifically, were to keep their promises to yourself, if they would just push past the fear and the defeat and just like you know, the failure. Because listen, this whole process, failure is a part of it, right? So I say all that to say that in my life, and in order for me to be where I am today, and it's not a perfect place, but for me to be able to turn this camera on, you know, record this, if you're listening to me on audio, shout out to you guys as well. Because I've been getting a lot of uh a lot of downloads on podcasts. So, shout out to you as well. But essentially, in order for me to get to where I am today in this place where I am of just not giving up, it is only by the grace of God. So that that's for me to say to you as well that on this channel I will talk about my faith. It just is what it is. My faith is very, very, very important to me. Um, it is just something that has been evolving, and that's a a part of the way that I've been navigating adulthood here in the last several years. I shared, I've shared many times, but I'll share it here again. If this is the first thing that you're ever seeing or hearing from me, is that I did not grow up religious in any way, but I did come to know Christ in my 20s, my early 20s, and it has just been a whirlwind of an experience in my life, and it is so incredibly pivotal and important, and it's something that I will bring up. Now, I will also say that I am not a Bible teacher and a Bible scholar, so with me wanting to make this channel and chat with Michelle overall a lot more clear and just talking about different ways that you know you can plan and the actual steps that you can take. I think that I um I'm navigating this. That's the truth. I am I'm genuinely navigating adulthood, and you're you're watching me, you're seeing me navigate this in real time. If you've been here for the fact past few years, I have my whole setup has changed a few times, you know what I mean? So I'm I'm navigating this out loud in person, but I'm here in a I'm here and I'm realizing okay, when someone comes to chat with Michelle, what is it that I want them to get from it? And what is the clarity that I want them to have from it? And essentially, I want them to know, I want you to know that you were born on purpose, with purpose, and for purpose, and that is why it is so important for you to keep your promises to yourself. And here you can expect me to share with you how you can practically do that in your own life, and I will be sharing how I've practically been able to do that in my own life as well. I told you we're working on vulnerability here, right? But I just wanted to make that very clear because I do understand that the topic of faith in Christianity and Jesus Christ may not be for everyone, so I just want to say that first and foremost, that that's something that's just gonna come up. And I am navigating how I want to reframe and reproduce and script and through prayer and just getting clarity and just taking time to sit and think, I realize that that is essentially what I want to focus on, and I want that to be clear and transparently speaking as well, possibly offering a service of some sort where I can help you with accountability. Ultimately, I want this to be a safe space, possibly having community events and just different things. I have really big dreams, and I feel like the Lord placed me here, and that's why I've been showing up all these different years. I'm not gonna remove any of the other videos because it just is what it is, but moving forward, I hope that it's a whole lot more clear. Now, this brings me to the critique part of my channel and maybe the reason why you possibly clicked on this video. I just wanted to share the other things first because I feel like if you don't, if whoever doesn't get through this whole entire video, I just wanted them to know first and foremost what chat with Michelle is and what it isn't. So to the critique part. Honestly, I feel like the critique was very helpful. I got exactly essentially I got exactly what I asked for and what I paid for, really. I wanted a third-party person who had no clue and I could tell I wasn't their target audience. I just wanted them to look from a very biased, blind eye and tell me what it is that you've seen. So one of the critiques that was made that I thought was so funny and I thought it was so, so, so rich, was um pretty much in like having these different chats or whatever, that I should be more expressive. And because it's more of like, I guess like more of a formal style video, I'm not gonna have a lot of edits and different things popping up essentially. However, he was saying, you know, use your hands more and and everything like that. And I was laughing because I shared with you that I initially, when I was in school, I went down the journalism path. So to become a reporter, and the biggest critique that I received from my producers or my professors was Michelle, you're talking with your hands way too much. A little backstory about myself is that I am from South Florida, I'm a Caribbean girl, and it's just a lot of it's a lot of this, it is a lot of this, right? So that was actually my biggest critique. My hand like move moving my hands too much and also my facial expressions, because like they said that I just didn't seem um unbiased. No, I seemed, yeah, I didn't seem unbiased. Cause I I remember I was reporting on a story once, and I was like, I forget, I forget the context of it, but I was like, they said, like, you know what I mean, and I was just doing all of this, and I remember immediately after my producer was like, yeah, no, Michelle. And even when I went out on the field, um, and I was doing the different stories, and I was out in DC, etc. etc. One of the biggest critiques that I got as well, because I'll be talking and I'll be like holding the mic and I'll be doing all of this and whatever, whatever. And my professor was like, Michelle, you're doing too much. So naturally, when I came back online and I'm started doing my videos again, I naturally wanted to control my hands because that is how I was trained formally. Being that this is a little bit of a more casual situation, that is a critique that I think that I will um I will I will take and I will consider doing a little bit more of. Possibly, I don't know, I feel like it can be a little distracting, but I agree with him. I think that it does show a little bit more of my personality. Speaking of personality, um, another critique that I got is like about my short form content. So short form content is the vertical content and how it should connect more with the long form content, which is what you're listening to or watching right now. And to that, I say I definitely understand how the messaging can seem uh maybe not the same or maybe not conducive. But at the same time, too, I felt like because my long-form content is very a lot more formal, I wanted to show more of my personality, you know, that's why I'm laughing about like the whole hands things and showing my personality, but I did want to show more of my personality on the short form content and just like who Michelle is as she's navigating adulthood and pursuing purpose. But like I said, maybe that wasn't clear here. So my short form content, I don't think much of it is going to change, but um, I think that I will be more intentional about connecting the dots, and that's pretty much it for the most part when it comes to critiques, as far as it makes sense here for for this chat in particular. Um, just because a lot of the other critiques, which were very useful as well, had more so to do with like analytics, SEO, and just different things like that. That I don't it's like it's not necessary for this this video in particular. So, with that being said, I hope that you found this valuable and I look forward to moving along, moving forward, you know, no pun intended, with a lot more clarity and direction on what this is, what Chats with Michelle is, and the value that you can find here. So, with that being said, thanks so much for chatting with me. Listen, if you found this chat valuable, please consider sharing it with someone who may also find this chat valuable.
