Ep 62 - The Spiritual Cost of Not Claiming Your Voice

Most spiritual people are trying to be humble, to surrender, to get out of the way. But what if not expressing yourself is actually the thing that's out of alignment?
In this episode, Monty makes the case that your soul chose to exist in separation specifically for expression, and that withholding that expression doesn't serve humility. It denies the universe its ability to experience itself through you. Kim shares how her own channeling work revealed that the confident expression she'd built her career on wasn't actually her real voice, and what it felt like when that started to change.
This is one of the most powerful transmissions Kim and Monty have recorded together.
Topics covered:
- Why your soul's expression is part of your purpose for being here
- The difference between conditioned expression and true soul expression
- Why withholding your voice is the actually self-centered act
- How claiming your voice connects to your spiritual identity work

Hello and welcome to the Vessel in Voice Podcast. I'm your host, Kim Charlson, and in today's episode, we're going to be talking about the spiritual act of claiming your voice. So let's get into it. Earlier on in my life, I don't think I would have said that I was someone who had a hard time expressing myself. I was someone who had no problem getting up on stage and talking to 20 or 30 people or even 100 people in a room. It was something that I did all the time in my career, and I made a living by talking about my work very often. As I've gone through my own spiritual work, I have come to realize that that expression was not an expression of my real true energetic self. That was an expression of a conditioned version of who I thought I needed to be to be loved, to be successful, to be validated by others. And as I've really opened up into my channeling work, and the more that I have worked on solidifying my identity, the more that I have come to understand that expressing that energy was really doing a disservice, not only to myself, but to the people around me. I wasn't parroting things that people were saying and just repeating it. No, these were opinions that I had formed on my own, very strong ones, things that I truly believed with all of my being. The problem was the things that I believed with all of my being were things that were not actually my own core values and beliefs underneath it all. It wasn't until I did that process of really peeling back those layers that I began to understand that. Those are pretty far apart from each other from so many of us. There is a certain amount of stepping into our energy when we begin to more fully express our energy. And in today's channeled guidance from Monty, they're going to talk about why we need to express our energy and the role that that plays in the universe on the whole. I'm really excited for you to hear this one because honestly, I think this is one of the most inspiring and captivating channelings that we have done together. So let's hear from Monty. Your energy of why you are here in this time and place deserves expression. Your energy deserves to be brought out into the world, to be felt and received by others. It deserves to be given the validation of your voice. It deserves to be expressed into the world in whatever form you find most desirable. Whatever form allows you to come into that wholeness of your being by allowing that energy to be expressed out into the world, it is an important part of why you are here within creation in this time, in this moment, for you to acknowledge that your voice deserves to be heard. Why is that? That for most spiritual people, they are striving to be humble, to say that I am surrendering to the moment and I'm allowing the universe to express itself through me, but you are the universe. You are in separation, but you are that energy that is the universe itself. You are one format, one expression of that energy. And if you neglect to express that energy, you are neglecting your purpose. You are neglecting the reason why you have come through into separation. Whether you are physical or non-physical, it does not matter. Your energy, your soul has chosen to be in separation for expression. And to deny yourself the ability to bring voice, to express that energy is to deny yourself. It is to deny that energy of who you are. Now we want to be clear that voice can be developed in many different ways. It does not merely mean the act of speaking, the act of verbally expressing yourself. The energy of the throat is not just about auditory expression. It is the energy center of allowing it to flow outward into the world, in whatever form is most aligned for you. That may be the expression of your voice, spoken aloud or sung. It may be in writing or in art or the way that you move your body through the world, or how you interact and hold space for others, it does not matter what form it takes. It is all the same. It is all energy that is pouring out from you from the source of who you are being expressed into the world. And until you fulfill that intention, you will feel as though you are denying who you are because that expression is part of who you are. That expression is part of why your soul has chosen to be here. And without that expression, you are denying yourself. You are denying your existence itself. The act of expressing your energy requires not only a certain amount of bravery to say, I am worth this expression. I am worth bringing my energy out into the world, but also a resonance with the identity of who you truly are, an awareness of that inner being, an awareness of the energy that you want to express, that deserves to be expressed, that without that awareness that identity, that expression can always result in being external energies processed through you and expressed that claiming that voice, claiming that expression, is allowing yourself to come into your own power, to come into your own energy, to allow yourself to be you. That by going through the practice of claiming your expression, of claiming your voice in whatever format suits, you are allowing yourself to come more fully into that identity. And it is important to understand that identity is not a negative thing. Allowing yourself to have an identity does not bring you out of alignment with the universe. You are a separate being. To have an identity allows you to exist in separation without one. You are the all that is, you have no identity, you are the universe, not in separation. The dualistic nature of who you are ceases to exist. And now, in this time and place, you have chosen to exist in that duality, to be the universe, to be the all that is, but also to be yourself, to be your soul. And to deny that expression is to deny that dualistic nature of who you really are. You in your expression are expressing that version of the universe that you carry. To deny that expression is to deny the universe of being itself. When it comes to claiming your expression and your voice, there is of course resistance that you have of saying, no, it is not right for me to do that, that is so self-centered, so individualistic, so unnecessary, so putting myself upon others. And yes, there can be expressions that are that way. We will not deny that. But those are not true expressions of your own energy. They are expressions of the conditioning of what you believe in expression needs to be. When you are truly expressing yourself, you are existing, in full consciousness of who you are and your identity, allowing that energy to be present, to be felt, experienced by others, to allow the universe to express itself. It can only do that when you claim your voice, that until you claim that ability of expression that is innately yours, you are denying the universe its own intentions. And it is important for you to recognize that denying the universe is really truly the thing that you are trying to avoid. The energy that you are so caught up in, of being so self-centered that you are expressing yourself and so you don't, is actually the act of being self-centered. It is denying the universe its ability to express itself. It is denying the universe's ability to experience itself. It is an interesting change in perspective. We are asking for you to make but an important one. It is a calling of your soul. And we want to ask you, will you answer that calling? We send you great love. When I channeled that with Monty, I had literal goosebumps while it was coming through, which is not something that happens very often. That my physical vessel does not often respond to the energy beyond just saying, okay, we need to open up more, we need to hold more of this. That channeling was a very powerful message that is probably going to take some time for you to fully process, for me to fully process. Claiming our voice, allowing ourselves to step into our spiritual soul expression is part of the reason why we are here. And that by not doing that, by not playing our role of bringing our unique perspective to the world, we are preventing the universe from experiencing itself, from others from experiencing that aspect of the universe that is only expressed through us alone. As someone that is the voice for something else, it is an interesting dichotomy of saying, I go through the practice of preparing my vessel to allow something else to speak through me, to express themselves through me for their unique perspective to be shared. And at the same time, knowing that in the act of doing that, I am actually expressing part of why my soul is here in this point in time. It is an interesting way that we often think of expressing ourselves and claiming our voice is a matter of sharing our opinions, but very often it takes a different form than what maybe we initially think. It is the embodiment of our energy and the expression of that energy that we are really being asked to claim. That even though I am giving voice to something that is not me, that is still bringing through my energy of allowing that energy to hold that space and be that container and be that expression. Each one of us has a genuine spiritual contribution to make. And that can only happen for us when we claim our voice, when we claim our own unique expression in whatever form it comes in. So if this resonated with you, if it activated something new, amazing. Lean into it. That is your soul calling out to you saying, I'm ready. I'm here. Thank you so much for joining us today for this beautiful channel message. If you're listening to it on the day it comes out, this is your final reminder that the doors to the conscious vessel program close at midnight Eastern tonight. We are so excited to get started to help people begin to claim their own voice in this container. Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you so much for supporting our work. We will see you in the next episode.
