What if your life is shaped not just by your choices… but by your frequency?
In this episode, we explore Sympathetic Resonance, a scientific phenomenon where one vibrating object causes another to vibrate… without ever touching it.
From tuning forks to pendulum clocks… science shows us something powerful:
What surrounds you… influences you.
But this doesn’t just happen in physics.
It happens in:
- Your mindset
- Your relationships
- Your faith
- Your future
Scripture has been teaching this long before science gave it a name.
Walk with the wise… become wise.
Bad company corrupts good character.
Iron sharpens iron.
Your circle shapes your frequency.
Your frequency shapes your thinking.
Your thinking shapes your decisions.
Your decisions shape your life.
But it starts even deeper than that…
Before aligning with your circle, you must first align with God.
When God becomes your center…
You tune yourself.
You build the right circle.
And your life begins to resonate in harmony.
This episode is about:
- Faith
- Influence
- Leadership
- Personal growth
- Building the right circle
Because when everything begins to resonate together…
You stop living in noise…
…and start living in harmony.

Welcome in. Welcome to Muscle, Mindset, and Money. I'm your host, Christian Houston, and let's get started. Before we get into this, I want to talk about something fascinating. It's both science and also exist in life. And it's called sympathetic resonance. Right? The physics of sympathetic resonance happens with when one object vibrates and the other object nearby begins to vibrate without ever being touched. So this happens when like they begin to resonate simply because they share the same natural frequency. This happens with musical instruments, tuning forks, strings, pendulums, even mechanical systems. One vibration spreads to another, right? And I'm going to get into this why this, like, why I think it's so cool. One of the most famous demonstrations in this was using the tuning fork experiment. If you take two tuning forks and you tune them to the same frequency and place them near each other, you strike one of them, something incredible happens. The second tuning fork, the one that never you never touched it, right, begins to vibrate. Not because it was hit, not because you forced it, because it was close enough and tuned to the same, it begins to resonate. And it's called sympathetic resonance, right? But it doesn't stop there. Um in 1665, a Dutch scientist discovered something strange. He placed two pendulum clocks on the same wall. And they started at different times, so the pendulums were swinging at different times, at different rhythms. But over time they synchronized because of vibrations through the wall, they slowly started to sync up, right? And you know, we use this term all the time, and I don't think we ever I don't think we ever think about it. But when we say, you know, somebody, you know, they're just vibing over there, or I don't really vibe with that person, we use these like these terms, but we don't really think of them like this, you know, like in this, I think in this depth. Because most people that I've talked to, actually everyone that I've talked to about this synchronization with the instruments, the sympathetic resonance. Most people have never heard of it, right? But we say that, we say that, you know, we don't really click with this person, we don't vibe with this person. And some people, you can tell that person when they walk into a room that they give off a vibration. Like they give off, they take control over the room, or when they come in, you're like, I don't know what's up with this person, but for some reason, I don't like this person, right? Because we give off, we give off an energy, right? And it doesn't just happen, so it doesn't just happen with physics. It happens in life, it happens in relationships, it happens in mindset, it happens in faith. Because, like instruments, people begin to resonate with people around them. All right, you begin to think like those around you, speak like those around you, act like those around you, believe like those around you. And here's what's interesting it's not just science. Scripture has been teaching this long before science gave it a name. All right, so in Proverbs 1320, walk with the wise and become wise, for a comp for a companion of fools suffers harm. Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion with fools suffers harm. So for me and for many people, and anybody that's ever like wanted to get in shape, they hire a coach. I have every time I've prepped for a competition or wanted to up my level in physique, I always hire a coach. Though I also coach people and I know how to diet and I know how to work out. I've been doing it my whole life. And so, but I know I need that, I need that tuning, right, to tighten me up, to get me where I need to go. And that's with your spirituality. That's why we have spiritual leaders, people around you that are strong spiritually. If you are wanting to go into a field, a career field, you go to somebody that teaches you that career field. Maybe it's a university, or if you're gonna get into a trade, you learn by learning that trade with somebody else, right? And you'll see people that are negative, right? That are they're always goofing off, they're always watching ball games, they're always playing video games, they're always smoking weed, sitting on their mom's couch and never doing anything with life, very negative about the world around them. And you'll see the people around them. If there are people around them, if there are people around them, those people will be the same. Because for me, for instance, I can't be around those type of people. I just don't click with them. And I always thought it was a fault of my own, but it's just it's my spirituality and my drive to always push better that I kind of veer away from those people. So also in 1 Corinthians 1533, do not be misled. Bad company corrupts good character. Even strong people begin to resonate with their environment. This is sympathetic resonance, right? So you can be a good person if you're pushed in a bad environment. And you see this all the time with inmates. Like I used to work in a detention center, and you'd see some people they they did they made a mistake and then put in a population with people that had been making mistakes like that their whole life, and then chose to make mistakes like that their whole life. And they weren't mistakes, that was their way of life. And so when you take somebody that made a mistake one time, and you can see, you can tell those people, and then you stick in them, you stick them in a population isolated with only a surrounding of negativity, crime, like that's the mindset, that's the life that some of these people live, that person becomes indoctrinated. They start to resonate with them. And when they come back out, they're usually a different person, right? Where they get the term institutionalized. It can be very hard. If you're a person that can that can be in that environment and make it through and be the same or better once you get out, you have a you know that's a very strong, that's a very strong compass. Proverbs 2717. As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. When you're around the right people, you sharpen each other. Now, here's here's the other thing about this. People always use this term and like it's positive, like our iron sharpens iron. That's true, but it can also be negative, right? So iron sharpens iron. It's a strong leader. A strong leader can sharpen somebody else. But just because you're a strong leader doesn't mean it's leading you the right way. So you have to be careful with that. And we've seen that many times in history, right? We've seen that many times in history. Where you have a strong leader that leads a lot of people in the wrong way and leads them, and they become very strong in that path. So you got to be careful who you pick, right? So where do we find this compass? Where do we get this compass? To find the right people to learn from, to resonate with, right? And you've probably all heard, most people have heard, the you are the sum of your five closest friends, right? Your five closest colleagues, sympathetic resonance in action, right? Your circle is disciplined, you become disciplined. If it's negative, you become negative. If it's focused, you become focused. If the circle is faith-driven, you become faith-driven. And so you can have a strong resonance with people, but if they're negative, you're gonna you're gonna feed off of that. And I've I found that with myself. There's people I've been fond of in my life that were strong leaders, very strong-willed. And they might say, they might talk about how much their job sucks or how much you know their life sucks. Well, yeah, you know, this job does suck. And I would, it would feed, and like it would start to feed into me, and I'd start to feel that negativity. And then once that person was moved or they moved on to a different job, it was gone, it's like, I didn't have all this negativity because I really don't think this way about this job. But this person began to make me see the job in a different light that I really didn't need to see it in, right? Or life in a different light. So we have to be very careful with that. And it goes even deeper. Right. So because before you align with, before we align with our circle, we must first, okay, align with God. And here's the way I want you to think about it. So your circle of five friends, okay. And this is where I've been on a big journey right now, especially lately, realigning my values and putting God first, okay. So if God is He's the He is the tuning fork, right? He's the one that everyone should be aligned with. And if you imagine a room full of instruments, and you are one of those instruments, okay? And the only way an instrument can be played is if it's in tune, okay? And there for a while, a long time, nobody was in tune with God because we were broken, right? Because of the fall man, we've been broken. And then Jesus Christ came into the world, right, on this side, gave his life, spilled his blood for our sins, right? And he bridged that gap. He bridged that gap in the room. That resonance was broken. And so that vibration through the air, okay, and I want you to imagine this. So you have God the Father, Jesus Christ here on earth, died right for our sins, and then you have the vibration, that communication between God the Father and God the Son. So now you have a bridge, a bridge now between God and mankind, again built. But now is the eternal covenant. So first in your five circle of friends, the sum of your five friends, God should be in the center, and Jesus should be there in your circle, and you should be aligned with God, because if you're not tuned, if you're not following Jesus, you're not in sync with him, you're not in resonance with him, then you can't be in resonance with God. So those things need to come first, and then anybody else you want to fill in your circle. And either you're strong enough that you can get somebody in tune with you, and they can be in that circle. And if not, you need to push them out of your circle because you can't save everybody. That's not your job. You can try to lead by example, but you can't save people. That's God's job, right? And so it's important to get in tune, right? Sympathetic resonance with Christ. So you're full of the Holy Spirit and you can now resonate with God. Matthew 6, 22. The eye of the lamp, the eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be filled with light. What you focus on shapes your life. Your vision determines your direction. Okay. Being filled with the Holy Spirit and then being in line helps you see the world the way God sees the world. Not how the world serves me, but how I can give to the world and serve the world for God. And when your vision aligns with God, your life begins to align. And it's crazy how different that is. Even your daily job, whatever that might be, whatever your job might be, obviously, you know, with all in good moral standing. But when you're doing something and you're doing it the best of your ability for God, it changes the outcome and it gives it purpose. John 8.12, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness. God becomes that central frequency, like we talk about, right? And when you're aligned with him, everything else begins to align. Now, with that circle, right, sometimes we fall out of alignment with Christ and we lose sight of that alignment. We can't even, we can't hear it, we can't feel it. It doesn't matter if the word of God is spoken to us, we don't hear it. And sometimes you need, if you can be that person or somebody else can be that person, find that strong circle of people that can pull you back and lead you back to that sympathetic resonance. And tuning yourself comes first. Right? Like I said again, before you can pull, before you can help anyone else, you must be tuned yourself. In Ephesians 1.18, I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened. And this is a spiritual tuning, right? The tuning of the heart. You tune your mind, you tune your environment. You can't, you can't have a destruction, a an environment that's gonna destroy you, and at the same time believe that you're gonna thrive through it, especially when it's it's you do it yourself. We control a lot of the environments around us, from our social media to the content we consume to what we read, to what we watch, to who we surround ourselves with, we have so much control over that. It's a rare case that somebody is thrown into an environment that they don't have control over. And usually those are the people that are given much more grace and given much more strength to push through that. But when you choose those environments yourself, when you have the freedom to choose those environments and you choose the lesser, you're going to get the lesser. And when you change your life in your environment, your life begins to resonate differently. Your thoughts change, your habits change, your circle change, your direction changes. And like there's a whole, even like physiological, a mental really that happens with this. When you change everything, when you start to change the way you dress or change your environment, some people sometimes you gotta do the hardest thing, and that's changing your friends, changing who you associate with. But when you do these changes, it breaks a cycle. It breaks that cycle of different habits and gives you the chance to reprogram your mind, reprogram your brain, literally. So it's not just spiritual, there's a physiological thing that happens with this as well. Your circle shapes your frequency, your frequency shapes your thinking. Your thinking shapes your decision, and your decision shapes your life. So align with God first, tune yourself, then build your circle. And when everything begins to resonate together, that's when you stop living in noise and start living in harmony. And it is so peaceful. It's a journey, it's hard because it's hard to let go of that person when you've been out of tune for so long, or maybe you've never been in tune and you don't even know what it's right, what sounds right. It can be hard to get there. But the first part of the journey is searching, searching for that sound, searching for that harmony, and then working towards it. Learning to play with the orchestra, not just sidelining, right? Anyhow, that's it for today. Thank you guys for tuning in. If you think this would be helpful to anybody else, please share it. I appreciate it. I love you all, and I wish you the best. Peace out.
