How many times have you told yourself you'll start when you're ready, when the time is right, when things calm down, when you have more money or more confidence?
Here's the truth: that moment never comes. And the life you want is sitting on the other side of the move you keep not making.
In this episode of Muscle, Mindset & Money, Christian breaks down why waiting to feel ready is keeping you stuck and what God's Word says about taking the step before you feel equipped.
In this episode:
— Why confidence comes after action, not before it
— The real cost of choosing to wait
— How to make the 1% move that changes everything
— Scriptures: Joshua 1:9 · Isaiah 41:10 · Proverbs 16:9 · 2 Timothy 1:7 · Philippians 4:13

Welcome back. And if you've been riding with me since the beginning, thank you. This one's for you. Let me ask you something real quick. How many times have you told yourself, I'll start when I'm ready? I'll start when things calm down, when I have more money, when I have more time, and when the conditions are right. Go ahead, sit and think about that for a second. Because here's the truth the moment never comes, and the life you want is sitting on the other side of you making that move. Today we're talking about why waiting to feel ready is keeping you stuck, and what God and what your own strength says about that. Let's get into it. Joshua 1 9, have I not commanded you, be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Notice what God didn't say. He didn't say, Go when you feel ready. He didn't say go when the conditions are perfect. He said, Go and I'll be with you. That's the whole episode right there. Well, let's break it down. Here's what nobody tells you. Nobody who ever built something great felt ready when they started. Not one person. Confidence doesn't come before the action, it comes after it. Let me get personal with you a second. When I started this podcast, and if you guys have seen my episodes, I was just like, I have been, well, when I'm ready, I have some my first episodes that I practiced years ago. I was like, I did not like the way they sounded, I did not like the way they looked, and I never published them, and I just did not podcast. And so, you know what? I was like, this is something I've been wanting to do. I help a lot of people one-to-one, and maybe I can help a lot more by doing a podcast. And I've been asked by several people to do a podcast. So, you know what? It's not going to be perfect. It's not going to be what I envision. It's just going to happen. The practice will come by me doing this, right? And I've had people comment on my podcast and tell me, like, you could do this better, you could do that better. And I know these different things that could be done better. And that's part of it. Part of it is just that getting that feedback, practice with that feedback. Because if you practiced and practiced and you waited until you were quote unquote ready, right? And then you got that feedback, you'd be like, oh, I guess I wasn't ready. Because you're never gonna be ready. I didn't have the perfect setup. I still don't have the perfect setup, the perfect voice, the perfect plan. I had a message and a mic, right? And I press record. That's it. And now we're on episode 10 because I moved before I felt ready. And I'm gonna continue to do that. I've done that with so many other things in my life that you know what? Let's just pull the trigger and make it happen. Thinking about the thing you've been putting off the business, the fitness journey, the conversation, the dream you've been waiting for, some feeling to show up and give you that green light, but the feeling isn't coming first. It's coming after you take the step. Right? And that feeling can pass. You might have that feeling in a moment. You're like, all right, I'm ready to do this. Tomorrow I'm gonna do it. You go to sleep, you wake up, that feeling is gone. If you're always waiting on that feeling, it's never gonna happen. And sometimes you just gotta do it. And that's the excitement of jumping into it. Isaiah 41, 10. So do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteousness, my righteous right hand. And here's the other thing, right? I've always believed, I've always believed in God, and I've always had a strong faith in God, but I've never been a good follower of Christ. And that has stopped me from pursuing him more because I'd be like, maybe, or even talking about God, because like I will talk about God when when I'm more in line with God. The thing is, I'm never going to be in line with God perfectly. And so here I am. I'm just putting it out there. And many people can be like, well, you're a hypocrite. Like you say you do this or you say you want to do this, but you don't always do it. That's life. That's being human, right? God's not asking you to show up. He's not asking you to show up strong. He's saying, I will strengthen you. That means strength, you are waiting to feel. He provides it on the way. Readiness is not a green light you wait for, it's something God builds as you move. And I can think of signing up into the military. I can think of starting on my book, and I can starting the podcast, doing social media and doing lives on social media, doing my first bodybuilding competition, right? Running my first marathon. All these things that I did, I was not ready. I just did them. And they worked out. I might have not placed the best, I might not finish the race first. You know, my book might not be a bestseller. These podcasts might never, they might not never go anywhere, right? But I'm doing what I feel needs to be done. I have this want to do it, and it might not be perfect. But we're here doing it. And we're doing that with everything in life, right? And there's been something in life that you weren't ready for that just came and hit you. It was put on your plate. Maybe, maybe you lost a job and you suddenly had to try for that new job that you've been wanting to move to, right? This new job, you're like, uh, there's no way I could ever go to this job that I want. But then you lost your job and you had no other choice but then to go after that job, and you got it. Or maybe your parents kicked you out, and now suddenly you needed to find your own way. You didn't want to leave, but now here you go. You're on your own. Figure it out. And maybe you got pregnant at a young age. Here you go. Figure it out. So some of these things, some of these things happen in life. You can also force these things that you want to do, these goals you want to achieve. I need you to understand something, right? I need you to understand this that waiting is not natural. Waiting is a decision. And every day you choose to wait is the day someone else is moving. It's not to shame you, it's to wake you up. Think about where you could be a year from now if you had started today.
SPEAKER_00Think about where you could have been today if you would have started a year ago.
SPEAKER_01Right? And sometimes people are like, well, I'm older now, I don't have enough time. Like, there's not enough time to get that. That's not true. You don't you have no idea. You could have been in your 20s. It's something you should have started 10 years ago, but 10 years ago, you might have only lived a year and you've lived 10 years. You might live 10 years more. Thing is, it's much better to be in a place chasing after a place you want to be than in a place you don't want to be, not chasing after anything. The picture, that version of you now think about where you'll be a year from now if you keep waiting. Those are two completely different people. Safe feels comfortable, but safe might be the most expensive thing you've ever choose.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01And to be honest, I don't think even though it feels safe to wait, it feels secure, it's honestly the most dangerous thing for you. Waiting to start that goal and not chasing after that and breaking promises to yourself only adds to anxiety and depression and and loss of self-worth. It's much better to chase after something and fail at it, chase after something and fail at it, right? You keep getting back up, but to never chase after it and then one day be well, I could have done this, or I almost did this will be the worst feeling you ever have. Proverbs 16 9. In their heart, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. And I plan. I'm a big planner nowadays. But the thing is, I always have I always have a tentative plan and a plan A, B, and C. Right? So if this plan fails, this is where this might go, or this direction, right? Because that's gonna happen. But you just keep moving forward, you just keep moving forward. You can keep planning, you can keep mapping it out in your head, waiting for all the pieces to line up. The word says God establishes your steps, and you can't establish what you've never taken. He can order the step you refuse to make. The plan in your head has zero power until it becomes a move in real life. Stop letting perfection be the enemy of progress. Done is better than perfect. A plan that you start, even if it's not perfect, is better than never starting the plan at all. So what do you do? Okay. Make the smallest version of the move, the smallest step. Let's say you've been thinking about going to school or maybe back to college, right? To get a higher education, and you're scared about doing it.
SPEAKER_00The first thing you could do is call that university and see what those steps would look like. Maybe it's getting a different job, and you're scared that you're not going to qualify for that job.
SPEAKER_01The worst thing that can happen is you get an interview and you don't get the job, and then you apply later on and re Redo the interview. Or maybe you've been out of the workforce for a minute and you're scared because you haven't worked a job in years. You want to start a business, register register the name this week. Right? Go go build that LLC. You want to get in shape, just drive to the gym. Go get a gym membership and then leave. And then the next day, drive to the gym. Sit down in the parking lot. After that, next day, go in to the gym and have a seat. Maybe watch somebody else work out. Maybe ask them if you can join them in a workout.
SPEAKER_00Go hop on the treadmill for five minutes and observe maybe other people working out. But just showing up, even if it's just 20 minutes, is gonna make a huge step than not making a step at all.
SPEAKER_01You want to launch something, tell some person you want to have you want to tell somebody, give somebody that that that hard that hard conversation. You want to have that hard conversation with somebody and you and you don't know how to do it. The best way to start is, hey, I need to have a hard conversation with you, and I don't know how to start it. I mean, that's that's about it. Because people understand they've all been there. Because here's what kills most people they think they have to have it all figured out before they can start. And you're like, oh, well, that's not gonna kill me, you know. No, it does inside. Your dreams go to die. These things that you wish, this life, this version that you have, goes because you never take a step. The clarity comes from moving, not from waiting. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love, and of a sound mind. Love and fear not is like two things that are mentioned so many times in scripture. Because fear gets in the way of love, right? It gets in the way of courage, and you never make those steps. That feeling of I'm not ready, that fear, right? And the word is like, and the word is clear, fear does not come from God. So when you feel it, recognize it for what it is. It's not wisdom telling you to wait, it's fear telling you to stay small. And you were not built to stay small. God gave you the power, he gave you love, he gave you a sound mind. You already have everything you need to take the first step. Stop waiting for something God already placed inside you. Stop waiting to feel ready. Take the imperfect action, let the confidence catch up. If you can think about when like you, when you were, well, you you won't remember, but if you've ever had a kid, or if you ever watch somebody else's kid, when they go to take that first step, they they pull up on a sofa, right, and they're holding on, and they they are they're standing up for the first time, and they go to take that first step and then they fall. That was you at one point. Like nobody started walking all of a sudden, right? But as you took that first step, even though you weren't ready, your legs weren't ready, you had no idea how to balance, you started taking that first step. Now, if that child would have, if when you were a child, every time you stood up, somebody would knock you down. You go stand up and they'd knock you down, you would learn that, okay, I'm too afraid to try to stand up because I'm gonna get knocked down. And that's what happens through life. When you're a child, you have almost no fear of anything because you haven't experienced being knocked down in life. It's great when you see young adults, they're so excited about life and so ready to go after it because they haven't been knocked down yet. And that is really a beautiful thing. But what's even better is somebody that does get knocked down and they still keep going after it because they know that is just a part of life. It's going to happen. Right? You're going to take your first step and fall. The next time you're going to take a step and maybe two steps and fall. And there's going to be people that constantly try to knock you down through life. Maybe physically, usually it's verbally, and usually those are the people that never walked themselves. Those are the people that never went after it. And they you going after it is going to just awaken that in them, that guilt, that shame that they never went after it. God establishes your steps as you move, not before. This week I want to do something. This week I want you to do something you've been putting off. I want you to do it not perfectly, just do it. Make the call, send the message, post the post the thing, go to the gym, whatever it is this week, today, today, like this, do it today, not this week. Like do it today. Just make it happen. It's crazy how many things you can make happen in a day if you just go after it. You just make it happen. Whatever it is this week, go after it. Philippines 4 13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Not some things, not easy things, all things through Christ who strengthens you. You're not in you're not in this alone.
SPEAKER_00You never were.
SPEAKER_01I hope you have a great one. Thank you so much. You guys have a blessed one.
