Howdy, broads and gents. Welcome to this week's episode of the podcast. Appreciate you joining us for another week just meandering with us as we uh as we talk about things as they come up. Uh happy Cinco de Mayo for those of you that partake in the celebrations. Brandus Rob, do you guys do anything special for Cinco de Mayo? Any traditions or anything that you like to uh that you like to eat or drink on the day?
SPEAKER_03We did have tacos today. Um but that's not a good tradition. We don't actually do anything to celebrate. So it just happened.
SPEAKER_02It was just coincidence that taco night fell on Cinco de Mayo. Yeah. Nice. All right. On Tuesday. Yeah, it's Taco Tuesday on Cinco Mayo. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_00Which is some good alignment, I was gonna say. Uh but no, I don't think I've ever done it, like done anything like without fail every year. I feel like at least for us and our crew in New York, it's more of a what date is Cinco de Mayo on? And are people feeling a little squirrely? And if that's the case, then we'll get out, we'll do something. You know, it's kind of like we'll take advantage of the excuse when we want to, but uh, at least for me personally, today was a very busy day at work. Um, and like I like I barely got to be outside, even though it's a beautiful day in New York today for a change after uh another kind of cooldown that happened the last couple days. Um, so yeah, not much for me, just uh regular old weekday school night.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, nice. Yeah, uh yeah, single mile it always sneaks up on me. It's not like a marker calendar type of uh holiday. Uh obviously I don't think it is for like many people, but uh just like you, it's an excuse to you know enjoy some of the uh some of the good food and drinks that it had. But like but because of that, like Megan made uh do you guys know what Mississippi pot roast? Mississippi shoot, now I'm blanking on the name of it. Whatever.
SPEAKER_03No, but it doesn't sound like anything that should be around Cinco de Mayo. No, I know. I think it is for Mississippi. I don't know what the Venn diagram of Mexicans in Mississippi look like.
SPEAKER_02Man, I think it's Mississippi pot roast. Yeah, it's basically like a pot roast that you make in a crock pot, and it usually has like a packet of like ranch, you know, those like powder packets of like ranch mix. Yeah. Um, and a jar of pepper and pepper and chinis, pepperoncini peppers. I don't know, I think that's redundant, but pepperonchinis in it. Um yeah, uh it's really good. It's really obviously flavorful and tasty. And then she kind of just put it onto like a tortilla for the kids. I don't know if that was like by design, because she was like, hey, it's singing them out today. I was like, oh yeah, I totally forgot. She just takes the super American dish. Yeah, threw it on tortilla and you know.
SPEAKER_03Uh no, I think I think what has Mississippi pot roast on it, it's a tortilla. It's a tortilla.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Uh but I know that one year we uh like, you know, it was like a last minute thing, and I just went out to Taco Bell. I just got a bunch of like Taco Bell stuff. It's like I kind of like that tradition. It's like, because we don't ever have Taco Bell, uh, and it is just like, you know, it's not exactly Cinco de Mayo tradition, but it's tangential to it, where it's still, you know, good stuff. Uh just you know, once a year to have. We didn't do that this year either, but uh just saying it's things we've done in the past. Um but yeah, so happy singing a Mayo for uh for those of you out there that are partaking in it. And uh let's get into it with what's good. Who wants to kick us off?
SPEAKER_00I'll kick us off. Um My What's Good, this is our one of our classic multidimensional what's goods. It's my what's good, but it's also like I'm a little um I'm also a little like I feel a little negatively about this as well. Uh my what's good is Kevin Hart's new show on Netflix that has been going on the last couple weeks. It is basically like a stand-up comedy reality competition. Um now it's I don't again, people have watched like I know there's a bunch of other there's been previous like Last Comic Standing and those kinds of shows. This, I don't know those. Yeah, I don't know how much this bar borrows from that format, but I threw it on. I'm a big stand-up fan. Like I love stand-up, like I love checking out new comedians who are like up and coming, whatever. And so for some reason, I saw I I saw like promos for the show, and I actually put it on. It's called Funny AF, which also come up with a better name. Um it's called Funny AF, and uh I put it on, it was one of those classic, like I'm eating something and I just want to watch something funny, and I know that this is a reality show, so like the stand-up is gonna be like in increments that I can just you know watch like almost like bite-sized, right? There's not gonna they're not gonna, yeah, it's not gonna be like long. So I put it on and like I got hooked. I've been hooked. Like it it jumped the cue in all the other shows that I have. Like there's shows whose episodes I've like piled up that I'm excited to watch, but like this just became first in line. Every time I was like, I have time to watch something, I'm like, I'm watching then like next episode of this, next episode of this. Um, and tonight's gonna be the finale. Tonight, as in like tonight, Cinco de Mayo, 9 p.m. uh eastern time, and I'm gonna watch it right after we're done recording. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm gonna watch it right after we're done recording. But my what's good is like it's just so watchable, and the the stand-up is actually really good, like a lot of these contestants, but getting to watch it in this format is fascinating, and like really seeing who these people are, both like before and after they get on stage, I think is a thing that's like so cool to me to be able to see. So, like, my what's good is the show. The thing that I simultaneously am like a little bit like uh about is like, man, people who know how to make reality TV, like it's so just addictive and made in like a way that just keeps you watching. Like, I see I I can see right through it where I'm like, oh, this is exactly how they make any reality TV show, like get you hooked. So there's a lot of stage stuff in it?
SPEAKER_03Is like is like manufactured drama, like backstage drama.
SPEAKER_00Yes and no, yes and no. I will say this isn't like uh maybe you know, your housewives or like Kardashians level, like there's actual orchestration of drama.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But to me, it's like how much of reality TV is, you know, a perfect editing of you know what you get to see and the narrative they I feel like they try to pull out in the edit. I'm sure some stuff is also like puppet mastered, you know, of like, well, like, you know, you should do this, and blah blah blah. But like I just couldn't get over like watching it where I'm like, damn, I can see right through all the classic reality TV show tactics and moves that make me like invested, make me addicted to needing to keep watching this. And at the same time, I'm like, man, I'm hooked though. This is good.
SPEAKER_02Man, that's all so you mentioned a couple things like that it's interesting to see them before going on stage and after. Do you just mean like in that moment, like how nervous they are or like their preparation and then how relaxed they are at the end of it? Like, what's the transition that they generally go through?
SPEAKER_00It's not even like as much as that, as much as you get to see who they are as regular people, and then you get to see who they become on stage. So, like, yeah, a bunch of them, a bunch of them, or most of them have been nervous, but that's not what's like telling. You can kind of relate to that, the idea of being nervous before getting on stage. It's the like spirit that possesses them when they get there and they grab the mic and they run the room. Like one of the more fascinating people is this guy who's made it into the finale. I feel like I'll never look at him the same because this is a guy who I'd seen clips of on, you know, Instagram and like, you know, and you're just scrolling like your short form video reels, whatever. And I'd seen stand-up clips from him come up in the past. I'm like, this guy's fucking hilarious. And then watching the show, I'm like, he is so not the person that you would assume he is based on his like performance on stage, which is like a very like commanding, uh you can fuck right off. Like, I'm gonna, I'm gonna yell at the audience in like a really funny way. But in real life, you're like, man, this guy is like kind of uh nervous, not really confident, comes from a very interesting kind of like background, and like you know, the everything about him, you're kind of like, damn, it's so interesting that like there's such a contrast between who I thought you were based on your stand-up bits versus like you know what what what we're getting to see when we peek inside your life um in reality. So uh yeah, stuff like that I find so interesting.
SPEAKER_02That's interesting. Yeah, it when you were talking about them, you know, like the character that they they become on stage. It reminded me. Have you guys ever seen that gif of um Leonardo DiCaprio on the set of Wolf of Wall Street? Yeah, yeah. You know, where it's like where it just shows him, yeah, and like he's just like you know, like kind of like staring down, and then as soon as they hit action, he's like in character. But it's like mid-sentence he picks up. Like it's crazy. He just turns, you know, it's just like a switch flips and he's just like in that character. It's crazy how they're able to do that. Yeah. Um is so it's Kevin Hart's show. I'm assuming that is is he one of the stand-up comedians, or is he like hosting it, or like what's his yeah, what's his role in he's he's hosting it.
SPEAKER_00He's hosting it and kind of like running the show. The show is really meant to be like the premise of the show, which I agree is kind of noble, is like and also kind of corny at the same time somehow. He's like, I want to find like you know, the next great comedian, like the next great stand-up comedian, like I want to help support like the next generation of stand-up comedians. And so the point is like he finds they they do auditions and they select like a small group of comedians, all up-and-comers, like no one who's like, you know, like relatively famous or anything. These are people who like might have some social following or whatever else, but for the most part are relative unknowns. Um, and then it's like an elimination process every episode where like there's a new competition, there's a new kind of thing they have to do, and it's like who makes it like who makes the cut, who gets eliminated. Um, and then this week is the last final round, and they're doing like American Idol style instant voting from like people will watch live on Netflix, and Netflix has added like a voting system inside their app. So, like while you're watching Netflix, whatever remote you use, you can vote in like 60 seconds. That's cool. Yeah, it's actually really a really smart way to like add new elements of like you know the Netflix experience. Smart from that perspective. Um, so Kevin, he's just hosting it. The real comedy you get to see for the most part is from like these stand-ups. Um and I would say, like a not insignificant piece of why I wanted to check this out in the first place. I've seen a lot of these stand-ups. Like New York naturally is like the dominant like market from which contestants are like in. I think right now they have a top four, and three of them are New York comedians, and one is like Atlanta or something, uh, or LA. Um, so like I'd seen these people perform at clubs and like crush, and so there is this weird, like not hometown, like support the person from my hometown, but like uh, oh man, I remember like there's one guy who's like kind of the favorite. He's crushed like every round, like yet to show one, yet to have like one critiqueable performance. He's like blowing it out of the water every round. And I remember watching him live and then checking out his I watched him live during COVID. He was he's one of these comedians who was doing like sets in a park, like they were doing like someone would bring like a big ass speaker and a microphone, and they would just have like four or five comedians like just perform short stand-up like routines for 10-15 minutes each, uh, for like people that were just sitting in this park outside. Like it was great. So I saw him like years ago, and then like I remember we had a podcast, I checked that out, and I was like, this is kind of cool, but it was fine, like not like you know, that memorable or sticky, and then watching him like in this show, and he's like exploding and is like destroying. You're like, oh man, I'm like invested in this in like a different way now, too. Which is like I've watched this person for a long time and now I'm seeing them like break out. Um, and it's not just just not one, not just one guy either. That's the case for like multiple people on the show where I'm like, Yeah, I've been watching you guys for like a bit. This is so cool to like see it all come together. So um, yeah, it's fun. It's fun if you like stand-up and also if you just want to laugh, but also have that like you know, stand-up experience mixed in with some like real easy to watch, seductive reality TV stuff competition stuff, not like drama, reality TV competition, I should specify. Uh it's it's great. Did they get like a Netflix special for winning? Is there like a that is exactly the price? The prize at the end of this is you get to have a special on Netflix.
SPEAKER_03That's huge.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, it's a good one. Uh I'll go with my what's good. What's good is that um this past weekend, Megan competed in a half marathon. She ran a half marathon. It's her first like big race. Um, and uh yeah, so you know, she trained for it, kept up with it, got herself ready to go, and uh and completed the race this past weekend, which is awesome. Uh she did it with one of her uh friends that's around here that was on the that went to college with her and was on her cheerleading team with her. Um and so they both did it together. And so I just think it's really cool, especially like after kids, you know, like uh I'm like really big on, you know, obviously your life changes when you have kids, but I think it's so important to like keep the aspects of yourself that are important to you. Um you know, like obviously you have to you have to give so much of yourself to your kids, but like not lose the part of you that makes you you and like the things that you're interested in. And you know, I don't know if I've I've mentioned this before, but you know, I think it's just so important that like the things that you're passionate about and interested in, like, rubs off on your kids and they become interested in those things and it's exciting for them. Like it's the same thing, like if you're hearing like it's enjoyable hearing someone talk about something that they're passionate about. Regardless of whether you're interested or not, if they're into it, it becomes an engaging conversation because that person's really into it. Same things. Um, this is obviously a big part of Megan's life. She's uh runner and she likes to compete and things like that. And I think it's really cool that she has kept this part of her as something that she's trying to, you know, that sets a great example for the kids as well of like working hard and going and accomplishing something, and that uh and that that you know her love of running may you you know may rub off on them. Last week, Luke did a um they had a color run at his school. I don't know if you're familiar with it, but uh, you know, basically like the kids wear like white shirts and then uh and then it's a mile run, and then they have different volunteers that will like throw like powder color on them. So at the end they're all like, you know, their shirts are like covered in this different colors, whatever. And he was really like Luke is not the fastest kid in the world. And it's just not his thing, you know? Hey, um, you know, he's good at other stuff. Running fast is is not really one of them. But he was really, really pumped up about it. They did like training for it in PE, where they did a practice like lap, and he was like, Yeah, like you know, I finished in second on the practice lap. Like, I'm really pumped. I'm hoping that I can be like top five because it's like all of the first grade classes compete in it. I'm like, okay, man, yeah, that's hey man, you know, like go after it. It's a good goal to set. Like, do your best, you know, you never know how it it works out. Um, and so Megan got to run it with him, and he finished in third, which was like awesome in the entire first grade class. So that obviously made Megan. What did Megan finish? Where'd you where she placed in the colors? Yeah, yeah. She was in first. She just left him in the dust. I see a loser. Uh but you know, that was a really special moment with her that she got to run that race with him. So uh it was just a cool weekend for Megan and like being able to run that race with Lucas and then being able to achieve something for herself and run that half marathon, I think, was really cool.
SPEAKER_03Um she didn't have anybody there at the marathon, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was the bummer. Was that so Lucas had a baseball game and he had picture day for his baseball team, and then he also and then Logan was also doing gymnastics tryouts for this pre-team uh thing. So uh Megan's parents came down and took uh the, you know, and had the kids and we're sticking them around to their thing. So and obviously I was gone on a trip, so Megan was out there by herself and didn't have anyone um cheering her off, which was a bummer. But um, yeah, you know, she did it, she achieved it. Uh she was there with her uh with her friend that who was sick, who was sick leading up to it, so Megan thought that she might pull out. Um but she didn't. She showed up for it, they both ran it together, and uh and she said that it was one of her most enjoyable races, even though it it wasn't necessarily the fastest. Um, but uh but she really enjoyed it and had a good time doing it. And now she's already, you know, and now the other girl was like, Hey, do you think that we could do a full marathon? Megan's like, Oh, here we go. Here we go. So we'll see if she gets that answer. I don't know, she's on the fence, but uh um but yeah, so uh again, just really cool and proud of her uh to uh to have accomplished that this past weekend. So that's not what's good. Shout out Meg.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, nice. All right, Brandon. How about how about you, man? Um I got a couple things. Um one of them is gonna tie into something we wanted to get to last week too. Um but first I started off last week by talking about some things that were not so good and if we're wondering who else might be listening to this podcast, I think it might be Joel Embiid, Ann Vladar, and Bryce Harper. Because I I I bitched and moaned about all of the sports um issues that were here. And since then, the Sixers came back, won their series against Boston. The Flyers closed did end up closing it out against Pittsburgh, and uh Tottenham got out of the top or out of the bottom three, so they're out of the drop zone for relegation, and the Phillies have been, I think they they lost one game recently, but they've been on an insane streak. After all of that, I will started getting bad again because the little two in a row. Yeah, Sixers just got blown out. Things are still bad. Things are terrible. If you guys are listening, like it's still awful here. Let's see if we can get some of that juju back to turn it around again, trying to trying to reverse jinx it again. Um but no, I I mean that it's it's beyond, it's it's gone above expectations now from what I what I thought. So anything from now on is is gravy. Um that's that's been good things that has happened. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. The Hurricanes game. The hurricane's game was good. Uh it's a different, you know, it's a different league.
SPEAKER_03But uh for the Sixers, you know, if if only this if only there was a recent example of a time that the Sixers got absolutely blasted in the first game and came back and won the series, man.
SPEAKER_02Well, but the but also on the other side, the Knicks, I think, are the first team to ever have 35-point leads in three straight playoff games, which is pretty insane.
SPEAKER_04Wow.
SPEAKER_02Uh, you know, including an almost 40-point win last night and a 50-something win over the Hawks before that.
SPEAKER_03Like just been dominating. So uh yeah, we'll see. But they can't, they can't, they can't keep that up for the yeah. Yeah, the Sixers are a function. So we'll see. I'd like to see them do well. Yeah. I think it'll be a competitive series.
SPEAKER_04Nice.
SPEAKER_03Um, but yeah, so things are still bad. So hopefully that gives me some motive more karma. But no, my my my actual what's good, uh, and then I'll have something else to parlay into something else we can talk about. But my actual what's good, you you were talking about like the kids finding their passions. And now that they're getting older, particularly Teddy and James, um, it's been really fun to kind of see that like really assert itself in them more. And a couple things happened this past week, and one of them was today. James had been, we tried out soccer and taekwondo stuff, the stuff that Teddy was doing. Not really his lane, uh, even though he's doing baseball and he's doing great with it and he's loving it. Um, but we put him in like this music class thing at at at the school of rock down here, which isn't really a music class. It's basically like you get to go and and dick around on a bunch of instruments for uh 45 minutes or so, but like didn't really learn anything. Um, so he was like he was really into it at first, and then he kind of got tired out on it. And we found like a piano teacher around here to give him like actual lessons. So he had his first piano lesson today uh with with his teacher and was really into it and is really excited about it. And he's got like workbooks at home and we have a uh uh Margaret, Megan's sister, gave us a a piano that they had because they got like an actual baby grand, I think. So we had they had like an electric piano, which is like a like a souped up keyboard um that we've we've had in our our living room. Um and he's just been super excited to sit down and just like just just like play on it. And now he's learning, like he's learning how to read music, he's learning about line notes and space notes and all these things. Oh wow. I I can't help him with it because I know absolutely nothing about music. Um, but seeing him like really dive into it and be so excited about it has been awesome. Um what are you talking about, man?
SPEAKER_02You have some musical prowess. Remember in college, just jammed with the with those with those drumsticks with the drumstick at the desk.
SPEAKER_03Got some rip got some rhythm. Um, but uh but uh complete a complete novice when it comes to like actual like like academic music stuff, which He's learning. Um and he's he's excited to learn. So that's been fun to see. Uh and then Teddy's thing has been baseball. It's been baseball from a very young age. That's been his thing. Uh and they just started kid pitch uh in his league for um for from now forward in his games. And they do the last two innings of the game. They do the pitching machine um for the first four innings and then the fifth and sixth inning. They didn't they turn it over to kids to pitch to get it for the next. Yeah, it's a good way to introduce it. And that's why and this is their they are six or seven games into the season at this point. So it's like they they did f some full games with the the machine, and now they're like kind of slowly working the kids in.
SPEAKER_02That's awesome. That's a really good way of doing that. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And he and then and he was in this league last year and did it last year. Um, so he like s has seen it from a batting standpoint, but he's never pitched before. Um and then he went to practice, they had practice, and they they were getting him ready uh this past weekend to do the kid pitch. Uh, and he didn't get to like a bunch of kids wanted to do it and he didn't get to practice it. He was he was kind of bummed out about it. Um but then somehow, and I I didn't see how this conversation went down. I can kind of imagine how it went because I know Teddy is like passionate about it and he could be very vocal about it, but he got to pitch in this game. His coach decided to to put him in and let him pitch, even though he hadn't practiced. He he went in, he ended up going in for the sixth, and they were up seven to four. And I was just like, I was just like, man, please and not even because I wanted them to win or anything. I just I just know that Teddy wanted to pitch so bad, and it would just would have been like it would have been soul crushing for me if he had given up the lead. I don't know that he would have cared at all if like people got hits off of him or or whatever, because the the pitcher on the other team that had pitched the inning before let in let in, I think, one run. Um I'm just like, you know what, let's let's just have a solid outing. Um he did great. He struck out the side. He uh did didn't walk anybody or hit anybody because it it ends up being like if you if you throw four balls or if you hit a kid, um then the uh the the other coach takes over and they do coach pitch for that bat. If you walk, I think if you walk three batters, then the coach pitches for the rest of the inning. Yeah. Or if you hit if you hit one or two, I don't know how many they they give you for hitting a battery. Okay. But he he he didn't hit anybody from he had just a couple of wild pitches, but he was he was like dialed into it and pitched really well. Nice. Uh and then was just like and then he was super excited about after the game. Damn.
SPEAKER_02Oh, good for Teddy. Yeah, man.
SPEAKER_00Look at both of you guys having uh some surprising achievements sports-wise for your kids. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's the little wins, you know. Yeah, the little wins, but also it's both of you being like, I didn't expect it to be good. Yeah, yeah, right. I was worried. Yeah, no, these are pretty capable kids, man. Nice. Yeah, all right.
SPEAKER_03He ended up getting like the game ball after it because he had a he had a run and a and an RBI too, to go ahead RBI. So he was he must have been so pumped after that game. He was he was elated. Yeah. And it's just like like you can just tell, like, baseball is his thing. Like he is out there and he is the one, he's starting all the chants on the bench for the batters that are out there. He's out there calling out the outs and the runners on base and where the plays are. He's like, he is so dialed in when he's playing baseball because he's like like loves it that much. Um, which is just it's just really cool to see. Nice. Um that's awesome. And my my last thing um is I had some homework after last week. I finished Knights of the Seven Kingdom. Nice. So um before and I, Brendan, I think you had some things you you wanted to talk about or say things about that. So um we'll we'll we'll get to spoilers. One thing you'd mentioned the length of it. Um and I realized the fact that it was only six episodes and the fact that they were like 30 minutes between 30 and 40 minutes, huge selling point for me. Like now I'm like looking, yeah, because an hour in at this point in my life, with everything else that's going on, an hour is is more difficult for me to find the time to actually sit down and do it. It is way easier to find 30 minutes. I will I will sit down and watch the shit out of half hour TV shows. And I like and I'm satisfied. Like I did, I didn't look at a night of the seven kingdoms and think that it was like truncated or that I didn't get out of it what I wanted. Granted, it's a it's a smaller scale and it's it's that way by design, but I loved it. I thought it was as impactful and I had just as much fun like watching a show like that um than I would anything else. And you know, I was like looking for other TV shows that are structured that way. It's really hard to find something that A isn't gonna require, you know, 22 episodes a season to make any progress through it that doesn't already have a whole bunch of episodes out. Yeah. And B that are at that like 30 to 40 minutes because everything else is usually at least 45 to 60, which is just just a lot harder to to build in. Um structure wise, huge fan, content-wise, it was awesome. I thought I thought that it was it hit the it it carried the same tone. I think I said it's like a cross between Game of Thrones and Monty Python, and it kind of kept that up, even even though it got a little ser more like more serious as it went. Yeah um without it being like you know, end of the world stakes and stuff. So it was it was just it was a great show. Good watch.
SPEAKER_02Now, I'll just say hey, spoiler alert for anyone out there who has not seen it. Spoilers are coming. So if you need to skip ahead, shouldn't be too long, couple minutes, whatever. Uh, but spoilers are coming. So avert your ears if you have not seen it and don't want it to be spoiled. That being said, I have not been affected by a death in a show since probably since in the show Spartacus. Spartacus, yeah. Like uh that's what I will always come back to when he had to when uh Spartacus had to kill his friend. Uh it's I'm blanking on it. But like I don't talk about the Long Guy. What was his name? The f uh Varus. Varus. Verys? Yeah. When uh when that little shit ass kid gave the thumbs down and the look on their face. I was uh dude, I was so affected by that death. I will never forget that. It just like rocked me to my core. The death of Baylor Targaryen got very, very close to that same effect. Yeah. Because man, what a bro. When he came in and saddled up and he was like, Let's go, man. You told me that you needed good nights, and you told me that we're we're just out here standing on business, and I'm here to ride with you against my family. I was like, This dude is the man, and I would run through a brick wall for him. And then when he turned around and you saw the hole in his head, I was like, No, no, don't do that. The way they did it was so well, too.
SPEAKER_03The way that he the way that like he came in with like his words of comfort or whatever, but you could tell something was off. Yeah, like the way he was talking in his speech and things, and he was like asking about his helmet. You knew something was off. Did not expect him to be missing half of his skull and to kick it right there, though.
SPEAKER_02That was and like, yeah, when he was saying it, I was like, hold on, I'm getting a weird vibe right now. And when you turn around, I was like, no way, like that, it really emotionally affected me. I was like, man, you I was so like everyone was like that's how they set it up. Yeah, man, like they made him to be this fucking awesome dude that you're like, man, he's gonna, you know, he's gonna squire for him, or like he's gonna, you know, train to be a knight under him and he's gonna be awesome the whole series. Like, yeah, nope, just like that, he was gone. And so that uh that death that really did a number on me when I saw that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was more emotionally prepared for this, mostly because I didn't avoid a unintentional spoiler. Aw, man. Um yeah, but I kind of don't mind. I kind of like knowing. Like I almost appreciate it more when I kind of know. Um, really interesting was like my YouTube shorts algorithm. I have like a different algorithm for every different like social media app. I love that my YouTube one is very much about like recaps and shows, cool clips and moments from like big franchises. I also there's this thing that's like I really hate because it's like AI generated like voices just recapping things that have happened in like comic books. Yeah. And so it just goes over panels of a comic. But I'm like hooked. I'm like, I want to know what happens, what happened in this random adventure that Batman was on. Um, but it was doing a lot of those for me for Game of Thrones. And so doing a lot of like animated, uh not animated, but more like illustrations of like these characters in these comics.
SPEAKER_03There was a comic, uh Duncan Egg or whatever it's called. Yeah, yeah. That is the story.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. I think that was there too. But they've been doing this for like I I've been seeing clips from like the entire chronology of Game of Thrones as it exists, right? So it's like I just I get hooked on these like two-minute clips every time. Happened to come across one that was talking about like the Targaryen bloodline, and mentioned that like that fight was like a low-key, very defining moment for the future of Westeros because he was the heir to the throne. He was the heir to the throne, and it's what set the uh, you know, whatever hierarchy for heirs in motion for what that like eventually would lead to the Game of Thrones shows that we you know watched initially. And I was like, that's so interesting. Yeah because everyone talked about how much they loved this show as feeling like how you can be in universe without all the stakes, without all like the pressure or whatever else. And then it's like low-key, the implications of what we watched as like the climax of this season set the path forward for like you know, hundreds of years of like what was gonna happen in Westeros and other shows. Uh, which but I was like, man, that's kind of fucking sick, but yeah, that death is ref.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's and it's you know, I know that we've made the parallel before, but like similar feeling of like and or like same thing, right? Very casual, low stakes, but like the ending of it sets the stage for like the entire Star Wars or like you know, the major motion pictures of Star Wars that come after it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um so it takes a very like small, insignificant kind of storyline, but like the stakes at the end of it you know lay the groundwork for everything else, which is pretty crazy. Um glad that we got to uh talk about that a little bit. Um all right, cool. For anyone that's come back in, no more spoilers now. We're done spoiling, we're back to the regular podcast here. All right, uh the list of stuff to talk about keeps growing. We'll just get to a couple of them and then uh and then we'll keep it moving just so we don't get bogged down in it. Um but uh just some like really quick things. So I had a trip and uh for those of obviously you guys know about this, for those of you that don't, I'm a cookies and milk guy and makes delicious cookies, and so I've gotten very spoiled. I have a couple of them every night, but the real star of the show is milk. I'm a big milk guy, drink a bunch of milk, and then the cookies kind of supplement that. So when I'm on the road, especially now that I have um that I'm that I like know my schedule and I know what my flavor is gonna consist of, I can prepare for it a little bit better. So what I do is I basically like bake cookies right before I'm about to leave, and then I put them in a tupper container so that I have enough for two every night. The milk is uh is the hardest part to to you know, because like I can't travel with milk because that's gonna spoil. So every time that I get some.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's right. That's right.
SPEAKER_02I talked about that part on it. So I always have to find milk somewhere, and it always leads me on a different uh adventure. So I flew into Madison, Wisconsin. We landed there at like 9:30, got to the hotel, it was like 10 o'clock, and uh so now I'm like, oh man, okay, now I gotta figure out how to get milk. And dude, in Madison, you can probably just find a cow somewhere and just go take it right from the Tat. Well, so the hotel, it was like red on the wall. Again, it was dark, so like I wasn't really like paying attention too much. Uh, but the hotel is on the water, and then as I'm like looking out in the surrounding area, it's this little, it's it's it's this like rural type area, which is a butt, it's the it just seems like a little like neighborhood, you know? So I'm like, oh man, 10 o'clock at night, like there's no way I'm finding it. Because like normally I'm looking for like a grocery store or like a market because I'm looking for like legit milk. So I go onto Google Maps and I search for it, and I see that there's a market just a couple blocks down, and it's open until midnight. And I'm like, what the hell? Like, why would it be open until midnight? This makes no sense. And it looks like it serves like deli sandwiches, things like that. And I'm like, this makes no sense that it would be open in this middle of this residential like neighborhood. So I start walking there and I'm FaceTiming Megan. I'm like talking to her, so I'm not really paying attention. Then I like hang up with her and I'm like noticing, I'm like, man, these are some really like big houses. Like these are really big, like, you know, mansion type houses. Uh and as I'm walking through, I look at one of them and I notice Greek letters above the door. And I look at all them, and it's the Greek row for University of Wisconsin that I'm walking down. You were on campus. No, like it's like they like their Greek uh, you know, houses aren't on campus. They're off and they're just in this residential like taped neighborhood. But then I start to like pay attention a little bit more. And yeah, I see a bunch of like college kids walking out, some are wearing like togas. You know, it's like Saturday night, so it's their grow, you know, going out time. And then I'm like, ah, of course a market would be open until midnight, right in the center of like party central, you know. And so like I go to this market and you know, yeah, there's kids like standing in line for like prepared food and sandwiches. I'm like, oh, this is perfect. This is where, you know, this is where I was meant to be. And then like there was just something about just being in the middle of that just felt very, I don't know what the word is like invigorating, of like being, you know, it just like brought me back to that time. Like, Villanova did not have big Greek, you know, it wasn't up, it wasn't so prominent as many of these big schools, like some of these big obviously state universities like Wisconsin, like it's huge there. But it was just like invigorating, being like it just felt full of life. You know what I mean? Like you were part of, you know, all you like at 10 o'clock, the night's just starting in college, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Like, you know, I'm so hoping the story has an old school type ending where Brennan goes to these college. It does not, it just gets back into it.
SPEAKER_02It was just the old guy on campus. No, it was just it was just very like refreshing being back. And it was like, man, like I remember what an exciting time it was being in college. It just brought me back, you know, it's a long time ago now, but it was like, man, that that you know, it was and just like the scenery of it was very nice. It was like right on the water of this lake there. The Capitol building is like a couple blocks back. You could see it in the, you know, they're like big Capitol buildings shining in the nighttime. Uh, it was just a very like pretty, comfy sort of like atmosphere, you know, and like you can just put yourself back there. Oh, 10 o'clock Saturday night, like it's just getting started, you figure out where to go. Um, I was found it very interesting because I was looking for ones I recognized. I was not part of Greek life, so I don't, but I remember one of the sororities that we had at our school was um was uh Tridelt, right? And so uh so like I was walking past, I was like, oh yeah, Tridele. And I saw it, and like it makes sense, but I was taken aback by the amount of security cameras they have outside of their like front porch, you know, with all like all these cameras and sensors and stuff. It's like, man, I guess it kind of makes sense. This day and age, especially with like a sorority house, like you gotta make sure that and all that stuff that happened with uh I don't know if it happened at a sorority house, but that Kohlberg guy that murdered those four. I mean, this really took a dark turn and didn't mean to take it here, but that he murdered those like three or four girls uh out there in Iowa or we're gonna be able to do that in Iowa, yeah, yeah. Yeah, uh so in this day and age it was, but I was like, man, yeah. Uh yeah, so it was just cool. There's like, you know, nighttime. I was like, man, I just wasn't really aware of my surroundings, and I just like looked up and started looking. I was like right in the middle of their Greek there.
SPEAKER_00My favorite thought is these college kids just looking at Bretton be like, sir, could you get us some beer?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Brent is like, he's there with his milk. It's like best I can do is two percent.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I can get you a gallon. Gallon of beer? Do they even sell it then? No, milk. Losers, I'm going back to have some cookies. Good night.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, so that was cool.
SPEAKER_00Also, speaking of uh food is food establishments in uh uh a college student environments. I'm very sad to say, and also probably happy because it's for the best, to learn that you guys, I don't know if I've done it on the podcast, and you guys heard me complain about the fact that like a bunch of the businesses in like my immediate radius all like closed over the time that I've been here. Like their rents and leases went up, and so they just closed, and so nothing ever filled most of these spaces. Oh, that's one of the straws that broke very recently, or not recently, but like six months ago at least, uh a taco, like a family-run Mexican place that I love going to randomly just to be like, let me go get some tacos for lunch or something. I had friends who loved visiting me and going to that place specifically. They went like they left, and I was like, God damn, this is such a bummer. Um But you know, I think unfortunately, there are businesses that are returning that can afford it. They're not the kind of businesses that I think would I would want here. It doesn't matter because I'm moving, so it's fine. Um, but you know, these are these are businesses that have pockets to pay for these things, which means they also like lack in personality and like whatever else. Um and then today like over I want to say this this time last week, I was sitting outside uh this bagel spot that's like still doing well, um, and that's still been open this entire time. And uh I was just drinking my coffee, enjoying the nice weather, and I'm seeing like construction happening immediately to the left of this bagel spot, which has been like open commercial um real estate for a while now. And I'm seeing these guys like work on getting these like signs up, and then like I see that a guy like fixes the one sign and it just says bell. And then I look at the bot, I look at the ground, and then I see the taco on the ground, and I was like, and I was like, No, do you know how much money I could have saved if Taco Bell was right next to me all this time? But also, it's probably for the best. I'd be like 300 pounds heavier. So that's one that you're excited about coming in. Yeah, but I'm leaving, so it doesn't matter, but my God, like it would have been so it I it makes such good sense like to have that literally almost be like on campus relative to like you know, the the kids in the arts institute next to me. But yeah, most part like Taco Bell in New York is a challenge because it's so in demand, but also your only real accessible way to get it is to order it and have it delivered. I will tell you it's a genuine roll of the dice of whether you'll get your food and whether you get your food and it's what you order. Because the only time you want to order Taco Bell is when everybody wants to order Taco Bell. And so they're just like overrun. So yeah, I was just like, no, but also, all right, fine. It's probably for the best. I'm le I'm getting out of here before before it's a hundred feet away from my door. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You mentioned it being in like a you know, being in like a campus. And I was just talking to Brandon the uh the other day uh about it because I at uh when we were at Villanova, one of our food assignments was called the Connolly Center, and you could get like pre- and you can get like made-to-order like cheesesteaks and chicken tenders and you know, some like good, I mean not good in terms of like healthy, but like you know, very unique. It was terrible. Yeah, it was like terrible for me. It was terrible. But it was like we had that for lunch. Uh and then I saw a picture online of a picture of the same place, but it's been replaced by a Wawa. I was like, man, on one hand, cool. Like Wawa's great. On the other hand, like it's kind of sad, like that you don't have that it's just replaced by a franchise. Exactly. You know, in there, which is good, but like you lose, just like you were saying, like the character of this place. And it was it it just felt very unique to Villanova, where it's like, okay, I can go to Wawa anywhere. Like, I you know, I get it. It's not something special now, it's on campus. Uh, you know, so like it was just sad that that was replaced by uh replaced by Wawa as much as I like Wawa.
SPEAKER_00That's been that's been the bummer here. It's like everything is everything any of these empty businesses that are being re-inhabited, inhabited, uh, are just it's just franchise businesses. Or like, you know, any place that has multiple locations or like PE money behind it to like scale it or whatever, like it's a it's a bummer.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, it sucks. Well, another I think it's kind of along the same lines as this. Uh I had another instance where in the same age we've talked about a lot of times, you know, a lot of things are uh dividing people. You know, it's kind of like putting people into different, you know, pools. And it's like, hey, cool, I'm in this pool, I don't interact with people from this pool, and it's just very divisive, right? But I always am very refreshed by the instance that I'm reminded of how alike we all still are. And so this was a very random one where uh, you know, just going through Reddit and there was an ask Reddit question, and it was um people that shower for 20 minutes or longer, what are you actually doing in there? And, you know, you can obviously envision what some of the answers were, but then like some of the top answers were like, you know, were like very much like, honestly, I'm just you know, five minutes is cleaning. The other 15 minutes is just letting the hot water run over my body and just thinking about things that are going on through a day, or like, you know, replaying that conversation where I said something really stupid and I'm trying to think of the other ways that I should have said it, or that someone insulted me and I was trying to think of a comeback, and now I'm thinking, you know, like very like real stuff. It's like, oh yeah, of course. Like we've all been there. You know, and then even down to the fact of like, you know, someone mentioned like, you know, I'm trying to see if I can create the biggest splash by you by cupping my hand against my chest and gathering the water and then just letting it drop. And I was like, Yeah, of course I do that. Like it was just like, you know, it's so refresh. It's not something that you talk about with someone else, but it's very refreshing reading about it and having so many people like, I do that too. It's like, you know, you have these moments where like, man, I'm so weird for doing this. Like, I'm probably the only person that's doing this. But then when you hear from a total stranger on the other side of the world that they do that and so many other people do the same thing, it was just very like comforting to be like, oh man, we are still very much alike, you know? At the very base things, like we're doing the same weird things when we're on our own, you know. There's something that is it was it was very like comfy. Like, it's such like a stupid thing, but like, hey, we're all you know, we're all we're all we're all kind of doing it, doing it together.
SPEAKER_03We agree and we're like on the things that matter.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, exactly.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_03It's like what's important in the shower. Like, yeah. It is, it's little things, man. It is, yeah. The the more all the noise and the bullshit's going on, that is actually the stuff that seems like it it is true to what shit is.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. Of who we are and what we're about. Um all right, where are we at? You know what? Let's get into I think that's I think that's good for the random stuff. Let's hop in and keep the train rolling into this week in history's.
SPEAKER_00We are gonna skip this week because despite multiple attempts, I was getting just absolute dog shit. And I was like, you know what, this is a bad week for AI.
SPEAKER_03Well, let's talk let's talk let's talk about this week, though, because the that JP Morgan story that came out was absolutely insane. The amount of twists and turns there threw me for a loop. I'm not familiar with what you're talking about. I can't. There's no way you don't know this. I don't think so.
SPEAKER_00I can I can recap it real quick. Give him a TLDR. Um, but basically, uh very explosive story came out where a nameless JP Morgan executive accused his manager of like insane sexual abuse and harassment. And uh the details were incredibly salacious. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And he like he it said he that she made him her sex slave.
SPEAKER_00So and that she was making like very racist uh like comments about him, his wife, and like all kinds of shit. But like if you read the piece, you were kind of like, this is slightly cartoonish, like who says stuff like this?
SPEAKER_03Because one of the one of the quotes and one of the things that he alleges she had said was that she took off her shirt, whipped out her titties, and said, Your fishhead wife doesn't have cannons like these like playing with herself in front of it. Whoa, yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's just like an insane. It's such a like that's like a that's like someone specific.
SPEAKER_00That is like a well, it's specific, but also like that feels very much out of a porno. You know what I mean? Like, like, like that is what the the oh like over coming on strong seductress, like whatever says. Um so anyway. So is that what people are saying that it might be all fabricated? So yeah, so basically he had never negotiated with any of the investigations, except everybody else had, including the woman who's accused. And JP Morgan's investigation came out with like there's no there is no basis to like any of this. And like we believe like that.
SPEAKER_03He ended up he ended up because it was a lawsuit that was filed in New York, and like once all of this hit, he ended up, they they rescinded it, so they took back the lawsuit. So the news came out that that JP Morgan conducted a thorough review of of these allegations, and everybody, everybody uh was um cooperating and giving them the things that they needed, except for the guy that made the allegations. He didn't cooperate. And then it came out that he was on leave prior to being let go because he had said that his father died and his dad's still alive. Like the like the New York Post like made contact with him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the guy's like his father bringing up all of this.
SPEAKER_03He got like faked the death to get bereavement leave, came up with this lawsuit, filed it, the news story hit, he rescinded it, and everybody's talking about like this these wild claims, and this this poor woman uh is just taking it and getting all kinds of commentary around her dealings. But then he refiles it like this week. And the reason why he rescinded it was because he's trying to make it stronger, and he has like one of his buddies saying, Oh yeah, no, I was at a I was at a sleepover on his couch, and she was there, and she came out, sat next to me butt naked on the couch, and was like telling me to get to join them and said, Oh, you know I own this guy anyway, right? You want him to advance, you should join us. It's like that's what you like, like that's what you think is gonna make your case stronger. Like it reads even more like fan fiction now.
SPEAKER_00This guy did in the initial again. Assuming if we go off of what we've heard so far, like this guy seems destined to do dumb shit like this. They've said that he's like left, he's been like kind of uh pushed out from several jobs for like performance issues and like things like this. So there does seem to be like a weird pattern of this guy pulling shit like this, which is nuts. Meanwhile, that other woman, like there's nobody who has said a bad thing about her except for like what this guy has claimed in these allegations. Um, it's it like she's supposed to be like someone who like volunteers. Oh, also the craziest part, a lot of the story, and the reason it went viral is because the context was supposed to be that she was his manager. He doesn't report to her.
SPEAKER_02She doesn't report to him at all.
SPEAKER_00She's like two years older than him, and in like a different, like on the there's no there's no power dynamic relationship that like was what was I think initially giving this big like real life porno energy that made it go viral. Um, so yeah, it's just I don't know, it's fascinating, but I wanted them to get to the bottom of this.
SPEAKER_02I just read uh I just read the paragraph about about that story about her coming out naked. I don't know why this detail makes it funnier because it says that uh that she sat on the couch that his friend was sleeping on, lit a cigarette, and she began begging him to join them. I don't know why lighting a cigarette makes it so much funnier.
SPEAKER_03Because that's what would happen in a cartoon. Like that. And it's so cartoonish. The whole like and that's like sit back, bacon, lights up a cigarette. She apparently forcibly like flashioed him, and like he was like against uh against his will, was sucking him off, and he just stood there and cried like he like he said, he like cried during it.
SPEAKER_00And she like she like yelled at him to stop to stop crying midway, like I don't know.
SPEAKER_03And there was like something and and he would he would said he had trouble getting it up for her because he was in so much distraught, and she like sat on his face and was like talking down to him and would call him her like little brown boy and all this this stuff. And it's like it's it's it's it is now if it all turns out to be true, that is gonna be a wild twist in the tail.
SPEAKER_00That would be an insane twist.
SPEAKER_03And like I will handle like apologize because that that that like that's terrible. If any of the stuff actually happened, it's terrible. The way that it's written and the investigation, the circumstances around it kind of make it seem like it is fabricated and is just like this wild fantasy land circumstance that that came around it. And I just I I have a I have trouble believing that it's true.
SPEAKER_02Especially because if like the little details are lies, then it makes it really hard to get to the you know, to believe in the big details. So yeah, that's wild. Yeah, I I'd not heard about that at all.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I go go on any social media and all you'll see are people joking about how they want to uh submit their applications into JP Morgan. I think on routine.
SPEAKER_00I think they said that I think they said that like Mike Rabel was resigning and applying for a job.
SPEAKER_02I was gonna mention that too as we were talking about this salacious uh stories.
SPEAKER_00But my god, people did it completely. They immediately did a side-by-side of this woman and Diana Recife.
SPEAKER_03And they do kind of look they do kind of look similar.
SPEAKER_02I know. Um, but I was gonna say that uh inside the NBA, you know, the uh the NBA show with Kenny and Shaq and Charles and Ernie, uh Ernie Johnson. Um so every time that a team is eliminated from the playoffs, they do a gone fishing uh thing where they basically just have like an AI, or not an AI, but they do like a really photoshopped image like graphic of like the players and the coaches, you know, like them like going fishing for the rest of the season because they're out, right? So the Celtics got eliminated by the Sixers, and so on so on their show, they did the gone fishing and they were all in a boat, and it was all like the Celtics players and coaches, and Bill Simmons was on there crying. And at the front of the ship was Mike Freeble and Dan Rossini doing the Titanic pose with their arms out.
SPEAKER_00Like just dude. I love I love how unhinged inside the NBA is. I feel like they know that they don't give a shit about being like renewed or whatever.
SPEAKER_02They're untouchable, they're untouchable. Yeah, like nothing's gonna happen to them.
SPEAKER_01But they they that's so good.
SPEAKER_02They took that shot on public TV. That was awesome. And yeah, that's a good uh that's a good story.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and apparently, and apparently for that, Stu Gotz, I guess, is pretty close with Diana Rossini and says that she has a story to tell.
SPEAKER_02At some point, I mean Stu Gotz is he's the known grifter, liar, shyster, you know, so we'll see what comes from that. But uh yeah, but I do think they are actually close, right?
SPEAKER_03Because she was she was on on Levitar Show.
SPEAKER_02I mean, she's she is a friend of the show, of the Levitard show, and Stu Gotz. She kind of like plays both sides on like their on their nasty divorce. So she's on his show, she's on the Levitard show. She was on every week. Um and they're kind of like avoiding the story and not really addressing it head-on, um, which is kind of like bothering people. I feel that's a really tough position to be in, though. It is a really tough position to be in. Yep. Yeah, it's tough when it's one of your friends and you want to support them. Um like the Ravel stuff just makes it really messy, but whatever. All right. Moving on to the trivia. This was a really fun kind of rabbit hole that I got um that I got down. So we've done this type of game before. I'm just changing the time period. So in the past, we did a top five where you guys had to pick the where you guys are trying to get the highest grossing artists from a period of time, and you get to choose one from each of the five major categories categories pop, rock, hip hop, and RB, rap and country. Before, I think we did from 2000 to 2010. And then from those conversations, we've had this conversation about music before, where it's like, I wonder what are people listening to nowadays? Who are who are the artists that we're listening to? What is happening in the current times? What I started out was hey, who are the highest grossing artists from the year 2020 to 2025, right? And I got the list. And then as I start looking through it, uh, for instance, rock, Coldplay, Rolling Stones, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Metallica, Eagle. I'm like, hold on a second. I'm like, hey, can you also include the year that the artists released their debut album? And like, because and then what I realized is that grow, you know, grossing uh includes touring. So all of these like older bands that are going on tour, they're getting a ton of money. So all these like old bands. So I was like, okay, cool. Like, I don't really want, I'm trying to like find the right metric of what people are listening to. Um, so first of all, that was really interesting. Like the ones making money are like all these like old time like bands or all these nostalgic, because those are people that are going to concerts and things like that. So I was like, all right, um, you know, and I and I played with a couple different metrics, and I think what I'm going with is on-demand audio streams. Now I know that no matter what metric you look at, it's going to isolate certain groups. Like, I'm sure that there are some oldies that are just, you know, spinning their radio head vinyls in a wood paneled den somewhere, you know, that are bracking up, you know, listens that aren't being calculated. But, you know, just for our generation of like what we are listening to. That's kind of what I'm trying to gather here. So uh with that, I have uh the top 10 artists from each category here. So there might be artists that you have that aren't on it, and we'll just deal with that then. So, same sort of thing of that each of you are choosing a starting five. So, you guys will get one from each. I think there we did four categories and then like one floater. Here, there's five categories. Let's just do one from each uh of those categories. And then what I have is the cumulative on-demand audio streams from 2020 to 2025. So they're big numbers, right? Because it's five years of data. But I think that kind of like captures what people are listening to for our generation. So does that make sense? Our generation. Uh where we're at right now. Yeah. Uh yeah, right. Uh so Sarab still leads six to three. Brandon won last week, but is still in a uh in a three trivia game hole uh right now. So we'll see where this goes. We'll give it uh I don't know who went first last week, but uh we'll say Sarab. I think Brandon might have kicked it off last week. So uh so Sarab, you again, uh one from pop, rap, hip-hop, and RB, rock and country are our five categories. Pick one from each. You have the first choice.
SPEAKER_00Sorry, go over the art uh categories again.
SPEAKER_02Pop, rap, hip-hop, and RB, rock and country.
SPEAKER_00Okay, yeah. I didn't realize I was like, rap and hip-hop and RB are different. No, okay. Yeah. Um I'm gonna go uh for rap, I'm gonna go Drake.
SPEAKER_02Drake uh is the number one uh most streamed artist on this entire list at 79 billion, which is like I mean, it caught my card that he was that high. Yeah. Uh, but like that he still holds on to that spot, especially with all like the beef back and forth that that's been going on. Like, man, that dude is the king. He's inescapable. No one's touching him.
SPEAKER_00I think it's also like, I don't think we experience it because I think we got into Drake probably at the age where his music was more fleeting. Like, we like whatever new thing he puts out, but we're not going back nostalgically to his old stuff. But I think there's like many generations after us that are like into his discography in the way that we would be with like other artists from like our time. So I think there's like a lot of like you know, uh overall plays that his uh catalog is getting that must be like nuts.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, that's crazy. 79 billion streams. All right. Uh Brandon, over to you. I I would have thought that this artist had the top.
SPEAKER_03And I mean maybe that just shows that I'm out of touch and maybe I'm um infl over inflating what uh the appeal is there. I I I go Taylor Swift with with Pa.
SPEAKER_02Okay, that's great. She is number two on this list at 74.5. So it's good that each of you guys got both of those because those guys are worlds ahead of everyone else. Uh uh. Taylor Swift. So was I. So was I. Taylor Swift, uh yeah, that's immediately where I went to. I was like, that makes sense.
SPEAKER_03Um how how Drake is in his fields, man, I feel like he's probably just got every device in his household streaming that shit nonstop.
SPEAKER_02He just has farms out in the Middle East that are there just streaming his songs constantly.
SPEAKER_03You think there's like AI server farms, but really it's just land owned by Drake playing his music.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Uh okay, cool. So, Brandon, that covered your pop category, and Sarav, you have completed your rap category. Uh, so over to you for your next for your next choice. All right, so what do I have left? I have pop. So you have pop, hip-hop, and RB, rock, and country. Okay. I'm gonna go I'm gonna go Beyonce for hip hop and RB. Beyonce was is number three on the hip-hop and R B list. She has 24.8 billion uh on-demand streams. Let me let me just get you a total real quick. So that brings you to 103.9 billion is your total right now. All right. Brandon?
SPEAKER_03I want to go country to get it out of the way. The problem is, is I really don't know very many country artists, let alone who is popular. Who has been popular. I'm gonna take a shot in the dark. I'm gonna say Luke Combs for country.
SPEAKER_02Luke Combs is second on the country list. He's number two. And he has 33.6 billion, which is seven billion more than Beyonce. Sorry, nine billion more? Nine billion more than Beyonce.
SPEAKER_04Man.
SPEAKER_02I guess I mean, man, again, Beyonce uh feels like she would rival Taylor Swift. You know, like she has her following as well.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I guess she did have her uh but still she hasn't put in like enough out. And also I think she has like a very, very vocal uh and also I think sh her fan base is like tastemakers, but like country fans don't like become they don't tr have the carryover of being tastemakers of like pop culture in a big way. So I do think like a lot of artists that are like huge, but then you find out the numbers aren't as big as you think. It's because they have like a very I don't want to say inflated because it is like legit and earned, but like yeah, I think Beyonce is probably one of those where it's like she's an OG and she's one incredible. She doesn't put out a ton of albums every year, and also I'm sure the footprint is actually smaller. I have an idea of who the number one country artist is, I'll share that later. But like well, you're up now, so it's up, so it's up to the city. Yeah, but I'd rather I'd rather take a number one elsewhere. What do what what do what do I have that Brandon hasn't done yet?
SPEAKER_02Okay, so the ones that Brandon has not done yet are hip hop and RB, rock, and r uh rap. Okay, so I gotta go rock.
SPEAKER_00Um this is hard. I don't know if this counts. I hope it does. I'm gonna go uh 21 Pilots for Rock.
SPEAKER_03That's who I would have said for Raw.
SPEAKER_0221 Pilots is not on this list. They are not in the top 10. I don't know the kids as well as I thought I did. Yeah. Um that's gonna be a tough one. Yeah, sorry, I was just checking something else. Uh yeah, not on this list for rock. So uh so that's unfortunately zero for Sarab in the rock category.
SPEAKER_04No worse.
SPEAKER_02Um so Brandon, over to you. You still have rap, hip hop, and RB, and rock. Oh boy.
SPEAKER_03I have no idea who else would be on this list. Although this is just this is just streams during the time period, right? Not necessarily.
SPEAKER_02On-demand audio streams from 2020 to 2025.
SPEAKER_03This is so not my bag, but let's see, let's see where it goes. I'll go rap.
SPEAKER_02So uh I'll throw J. Cole out there. J. Cole is not on this list for rap.
SPEAKER_00Zero for zero, baby. Let's go.
SPEAKER_02Who's the who's number two? Who are who else is on the rap now that we got out with that? I'll I'll I'll go through some interesting things afterwards. Okay. All right.
SPEAKER_00Um I'm gonna go pop. I'm gonna go Billy Eilish.
SPEAKER_02Billy Eilish is number three on the pop list at 32.8 billion. So that brings you to 136.7. And that's what am I missing? Why do I have oh no, yeah, yeah. Okay. Yep, with one credit with cat with one category left. You have country left. Okay, so 136 to 0.7 to 108.1 for Brandon. And uh Brandon, over to you. You have rock and hip hop and RB.
SPEAKER_03Who would have been strange for a while? Just because I know they had an album release within that time period. I feel like it probably drove a lot of I'll go Lincoln Park on rock.
SPEAKER_02Lincoln Park is number three on the rock list at 21.8 billion. Damn. Quite enough. That brings you to 129.9. And so 136.7 Sarav and 129.9 for Brandon. Uh Sarav thinks that he has the number one country artist locked up, and uh Brandon will have to make up the difference in hip-hop and RB. So, yeah, I think I do. Maybe I'm gonna be wrong. Let's see. Uh, Morgan Wallen. Morgan Wallen is number three on the entire list. Oh, okay. He's number one country, number three on the entire list at 48.2 billion. Holy shit. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, man. You drop a couple N-words, people are like, I gotta Litz it. Man, that's so bad.
SPEAKER_02Oh God. So that brings Saraz's total to 184.9. Or uh Brandon needs roughly fifty-five. It's out of reach.
SPEAKER_03If Morgan Rollins number three at 40 some, I don't have to. And for hip hop and RB, I mean for hip hop and RB, I had no idea. You do want to try to get the the number one. You said Beyonce was three. Good luck. Beyonce was number three. Good luck for number one? Good luck. Older?
SPEAKER_00After Brandon guesses, I also do want to just guess for fun.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You saying good luck, put ideas in my head.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm like Yeah, the good luck pieces.
SPEAKER_03Is it like let's see, is it somebody who's so Whitney Houston?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_03Damn.
SPEAKER_00No. Whitney Houston is not. Is it on this list? Okay. Well, it's actually, I mean, is that your guess? Is that the zero then? Okay. Yeah, okay. Is it is it is it Playboy Cardi?
SPEAKER_02Playboy Cardi is not on this list. Number one hip-hop and RB, Sizza.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um I see it. I get it. Siza number one, Chris Brown number two. So when I still pulled this list, I still had it include the year of the debut album. And we're all listening to old music. That's what everyone's listening to. It's all old, like, especially rock. Dude, just rock is Queen, Coldplay, Lincoln Park, Fleetwood Mac, Imagine Dragons, The Beatles, Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Metallica. Wow. Wow. Um, or uh like for Pop, Taylor Swift, The Weekend, Billy Eilish, Ariana Grande, Kistin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Olivia Rodrigo, whose debut album was a 2021, which is the most recent, Dua Lipa in 2017, post Malone 2016. They only Sabrina Carpenter? No Sabrina Carpenter on this one.
SPEAKER_00I think she's gonna be she's gonna be in like the next decade.
SPEAKER_02So Rap, Drake, Eminem, Future, Kanye West, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Juice World, Kendrick Lamar, 21 Savage, Lil Wayne, uh, hip hop and RB, Sizzle, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Rihanna, Frank Ocean, Summer Walker, uh, Gene Aiko. I'm not, I might be mispronouncing her Jay. Uh, but Brent Fayez, uh Usher, I thought it was a good one. And then Alicia Keys. I mean, he his debut album is 2017. I'm not familiar with him. Uh, and then Country Morgan Wall. This was the most recent because it's Morgan Wall, Luke Combs, Zach Bryan, Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan uh sorry, Zach Bryan first, Luke Bryan uh at number five, Kane Brown, Cody Johnson, Thomas Rhett, uh Jason LD, and Blake Shelton. So that was the full list for this. All right. So then I said, hey, now give me the same list, but only show artists that had debut albums past 2015. Yeah. Dude, rock, they couldn't even come up with a list. Wait, really? They they included artists who they included Machine Gun Kelly, who debuted in 2012, Faye Webster in 2013, TV Girl in 2014, but then their actual ones was um Maniskin, Greta, oh yeah, Greta, Greta Van Fleet, Greta Van Vliet, uh, Wallows, Boy Genius, The Interrupters, Lovejoy. So like I listen to most of this, except like that last bunch, but yeah. It's just like when you have those giants of of old that people are still listening to, it's like these guys like rock is in rock is in a bad place right now. What's rap and and hip hop and movie on those? Man, rap is Lil Baby, Juice World, 21 Savage, uh, Triple X, Temptation, Roddy Rich, Pop Smoke, Lil Dirk, Gunna, Jack Harlow, and then Yeet. What are the streaming totals on that? How do those compare? Uh so streaming totals, so uh obviously uh so Lil Baby was on the rap list at 32.9 billion, and so was Juice World 31. So like there were some recent ones when you get down to the bottom of rap, those were all those are all kind of like these guys. Um but like 21 Savage was there at 20 at 26.4 billion. He was number three in debut albums since 2015. On the overall uh artist, 21 Savage was number nine uh at 26.4 billion. The next highest was triple X Temation at 19.2 billion, so five billion lower. So like rap is still doing all right, relatively speaking. Um, but like rock took a big hit, uh pop they're they're all names you've heard of. Um, but like Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter, uh Khaled, Khaled, Khalid, yeah, uh, Chapel Roan, Camilla Cabello, Laney, and then Tate McCraae, which they put into pop. But like, you know, Tate McCrae is at 5.8 billion. Like she's nowhere, she's nowhere close to anything. Um, but she also debuted in 2022, so she only has a few years. But yeah, uh, yeah, so it was just very interesting that like I started with Total Grossing, where it's like, whoa, these numbers are huge, but then you realize it's all these like nostalgic old guys going out to concerts to go listen to the Rolling Stones or you know, keep playing and you know, these 80-year-old guys, you know, just play the hits. Uh so once I filtered that out to just streaming numbers, it's still like we're listening to old music. Like that's what everyone's listening to. It's just the and by old I mean like you know, 2000s, 2010s, which is like, you know, that's the same as when we were growing up, those are like 80s, you know. So uh yeah. Very interesting.
SPEAKER_03That's what I would be really interested in seeing like how many of the like how much of the overall like music tour gross from the early 2000s was from bands in the 80s and how that compares to those acts that are doing it now. Like, was it always that way and we just we just weren't cognizant of it because we also had our own music, or if it's more pronounced now because I don't know if that stuff is just like living longer because it's at our fingertips and there's just to give you some just to give you some numbers when I pulled it of like the highest gross and that includes touring.
SPEAKER_02Um Taylor Swift was number one uh at 3.1 billion. Okay. Number two in the pop category was Ed Sheeran, which you would think that pop is is you know, those guys are touring and doing their thing with like Harry Styles. Harry Styles, I mean, I guess his pop, his big tour might have might have been before this, I don't know. But because he was number four on the list. Ed Sheeran was number two, seven five billion. All right, Taylor Swift, 3.1. Ed Sheeran, 1.7. Rock, Coldplay, 2.5 billion. Uh, the Rolling Stones, 1.95 billion, 2-2, $1.82 billion. All those guys are above the number two pop of Ed Sheeran. Like these guys are pulling numbers in their tours, which is you know, so I assume that it was only that much higher in the early 2000s when you know it was still so much more of a craze, but like those guys are still doing work touring. Um, interesting. Yeah, me yeah. Um, all right, cool. Man, Sarav up to seven, seven to three. Open up the lead, man. Brandon's got some work to do still.
SPEAKER_00Gotta listen to more Morgan Wallin, dude.
SPEAKER_02That's it. You need to you need to get on that Morgan Wallin train. Um, all right, cool. Uh question of the week of the week to wrap it up. We kind of did uh something similar to this. Sarav asked the question of like, what was your go-to ice cream? I'm just opening up in general. What is your go-to food right now? And what I mean by that is like, what's in your food rotation that is more often than not, you're having it on a day-to-day basis, on a week-to-week basis. What's something that you're that is just like a comfort food that you know that you're always just going back to? It'll satisfy you. It does the job, you enjoy it. While you boys have time to maybe think about that a little bit, I'll give you mine. Uh, I have actually two of them right now. One of them I talked about on a thread before, but um a post-workout food that I have very often is I take a honey crisp apple, big old honey crisp ass apple, and then I have uh uh an apple slicer that's a 16.
SPEAKER_00Just kicking over that for a second there, it really sounds like big old honey crisp ass. Like anyways, sorry.
SPEAKER_01I had to I had to post workout, he's just gotta eat some ass.
SPEAKER_04Big old honey booty.
SPEAKER_02I just dive right in. Anyways, continue. So I take a big honey crisp apple, and I have a 16 slicer, uh, slice apple slicer, and slice it up, put it onto a plate, take some peanut butter, put it in the microwave, get it nice and soft, and then pour it over the apples, put some granola on top of it, and then some uh some um some mini chocolate chips uh on it. And that's delicious. I look forward to it most times after my workout when I'm home during the day. The other thing that's a that's a recent one is that Megan found at the grocery store these um rolls. They're giant brand, but you know, it's these like these like little, like think of like a hoagie roll, but like half of it. But it's not club rolls, is that what they call them? Yeah, yeah. It's like a full thing. You know, it's not like a it isn't a hoagie cut in half. It's its own little roll, but it's like a mini one. And then just like turkey, cheese, mayonnaise. It's just like very quick and easy. Roll it up into so into tinfoil, and like I bring it for lunch. We've been eating them at baseball games. We'll just bring the turkey cheese and the rolls, just put it together there, and everyone's happy eating them. It's just a very quick, easy go-to thing that has been in the rotation very frequently, uh, often for us. Uh so uh, do either of you guys have one at the ready? I do.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So, well it's mine, I feel like my I I I go through phases. I'm a big like when it comes to food, I'm like the thing I want most consistently is novelty. Like I don't find myself attached to like the same thing over and over again or in a rotation. But what I have had stretches of is like the same like baseline kind of qualities. So I would say like last year I had like an incredibly long stretch of some kind of like chicken and rice. Now, was it the same preparation every time? No, but I was doing a lot of like things that boil down to like a chicken and rice dish. Um, right now my version of that is um I guess what I would just call crispy smashed potatoes. And so what I do is I buy these like little baby golden potatoes, you know, little brown ones. Yeah. And uh I boil them and get them real like soft, like ready to be smushed into mashed potatoes or whatever. Uh, and usually I just meal prep them. So I'll just get them boiled, and then once they're like soft and cooled down, I just put them in a in a tupper and put them in the fridge. And then what I do is like over the course of, you know, usually within the next three or five days, I'll just take them out and do like different things with them. Uh, and so I've been on a tear of doing that with potatoes for like, you know, I would say at least like the last two, three weeks. Um, and I've done a couple different things. Uh I'll give an example of like last weekend or you know, this weekend that my parents visited, uh, I had a couple left and I was like, let me just make these and I'll make this like a side for we were eating lunch here, and my parents brought like some food from home, and then I'd made some stuff, so we just kind of put it all together. So I basically did like a uh I I love what I do is like they're already boiled. So like once I take them out of the fridge, I'll just like literally squish them into like a very thin patty in my hand, and then I'll just like plop them into the air fryer or the oven, whatever, and spray them with oil and then little seasoning, whatever, and then throw them in the air fryer and get them like real crispy. Like I I cook them until they get real crispy. I do different shit with them. So the first time when my parents were there, I had this like you know, you got you can buy like these like simmer sauces to like you know, it's almost like you just add them in as like the last step. So I'd grab this like vegan chick uh chicken tikka masala, or not even chicken, it was just vegan tika masala sauce. And it's a simmer sauce. I had like a little bit left in this container. It's one of those like you got to use it within seven days after you open it. So I just like doused the potatoes in that sauce and threw it back in the air fryer and then took it out. And it's always like these like creamy but crispy kind of potatoes. You know, my mom was like into it because she's like vegetarian. She was like, Oh, this is great. Um, so I did that. And then when my brother was here last weekend, um break I did like brunch both on like Friday and Saturday that we just made. So for high day, I did like an egg bake with those crispy potatoes like at the bottom. And you know, I also did like eggs and like uh some cheddar cheese, some turkey bacon, some onions, like and then I uh I took the egg bake out and then I put them inside these like fat rolls we grabbed at the grocery store and like these like Scooby-Doo style sandwiches. It was just it was just so tall, it looked hilarious. And then uh on Saturday, uh I did them again, but like I kind of did a slightly different thing where I was like kept the pot. I I was like, you know what? I've I've kept putting these potatoes into like other things where they lose a little bit of like their individual like texture and and flavor. And so this time I think we did we did like tacos, and I was like, you're gonna really feel the potato by itself inside this taco with like other things, but like it's not completely like immersed in it. Um it was a good touch, it was like another kind of like a breakfast taco thing. So um, yeah, it was cool.
SPEAKER_02Man, so the one that you made with the tika masala sauce, do you eat it just like a big like tortilla almost? No, no, no.
SPEAKER_00Uh so think of these as like crispy.
SPEAKER_02They're like like bite-sized, right? Because yeah, those small potatoes that are just square.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so they'll get like this, like this big at most. They're not like they're not like uh big enough to eat, like you don't hold it with one hand. Yeah, yeah. They're mostly still like a side. So imagine just like yeah, like uh chip. Think of think of the shape of like cookies, maybe not mega. Like is it definitely crispy enough that it's like a chip that you're just like picking up and just like popping it in your mouth? It's somewhere between like a chip and a fry because it is still like this thick. So there's like when you bite into it, I like having like the mashed potato in the middle, but crispy on the outside kind of thing. Uh but yeah, it's great and it's a very versatile thing, and you can like do a bunch of different things with it, but also you could straight up eat it by itself too, which tastes like you know, kind of homemade, like a fry kind of thing, but not, you know, maybe as unhealthy. So yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that sounds great. Yeah, that's a good one. That's fantastic.
SPEAKER_03Brandon, where Syrah is looking for novelty. I am a creature of habit, and I have basically the same thing every day for lunch. Um, and it's a shake. It is it's six-ish ounces of like a cold brew coffee, another six ounces of oat milk, two scoops of orgain chocolate fudge uh protein powder, a scoop of PB fit peanut butter, throw in some ice. Uh I lately I've been throwing in this this like like chia sea little, it's it's like chia chia and flaxy, I think.
SPEAKER_01Air for me, that little stomach a little chicken. Oh, not too much, not too much.
SPEAKER_03When I started adding it in, I I did it did an experiment um and and slowly added some more. And then I I found my found my breaking point that afternoon. Then I backed it back off. But yeah, yeah, and and then I then I I blend that up a little bit. Uh and I have that with uh a Lara bar uh and usually like like some some Doritos. And that's like like my go-to. But that sh that shake is the is the go-to. Oh, and and there's a banana, yeah. The banana is like the cost. Yeah, um that like really makes it it the banana itself makes it like real creamy. Um what do you eat for breakfast? For breakfast? Oh, and well, here's another go-to. And it it'll change depending on on what we have available to me. Sometimes I'll just have cereal, just like whatever is quick and easy that I can grab. Um when it's available, and it will be because Megan just made Megan had sourdough starter. Um, so she she makes every every couple weeks um here here and there, like a sourdough loaf that will cut into it. Nice. Uh and my kids really like to to uh have we do tacos and we'll do uh guacamole, but I'll get some extra avocados, some avocado toast. We'll do an Orizi egg. We have like the little cherry tomatoes, slice some of that up, throw that on the sourdough with some mashed avocado, and sprinkle some apple wood seasons uh salt. Nice. Throw that on there as garnish. That's my ideal. I don't have time to make that every morning after doing drop-off for everybody, and I don't we don't always have all that stuff. Um that's like my ideal. More times than not, I'm having some kind of like raisin bran or or yeah, you know, if the kids have eaten everything, I'll have like a um cinnamon toast crunch or something for for breakfast.
SPEAKER_02Nice and yeah, that's uh another another recent kick is that uh like we make s we make eggs a lot in this house. Normally it's just scrambled eggs. Like it's just so easy, everyone's good with it, it's fine. And then like, and then one day I just had a real hankering for like an over easy egg. And so I made you know a couple over easy eggs. And then I also I also for some reason I really wanted spam as well. Are you guys spam people?
SPEAKER_00Uh I was introduced to spam through Asian cuisine in Japan? Yeah, no, no, not Japan, even like in just in New York, honestly. Because they do the big like the spam masubis. Have you ever heard of those?
SPEAKER_02Oh, those are the best, man.
SPEAKER_00That was the way I had spam, and I was like, why did I not get into this sooner? It's incredible.
SPEAKER_02For those of that don't know it, it's like uh rice, um, I don't know, like four, like I don't want to say a brick, but it's like a little rice.
SPEAKER_00It's like a block of like sushi rice. It's like it's like a little block of sushi rice with with spam with like something else in it, and then it's wrapped in seaweed. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then wrapped in seaweed. And it's just like they have so in Hawaii, they have these ABC stores, which are basically they're like, I mean, they're every every block. You're gonna run into another AB store, ABC store. It's their like general store, and and they have uh spam masubis in there. They, you know, just like how Wawa has their like their like quick, like hot stuff there, it's just loaded up with spam masubis in there, and it's great to have as like breakfast. Um, so I really wanted spam. And so then I uh so I made like four pieces of spam, put it off to the side, and then I made two over easy eggs and then put it all on toast. So then I took the toast, I buttered the toast, and then I put the spam on top of it, and then the egg, and then I broke the yolk of the of the egg and I made it like runny, and then just salt and and and uh pepper. And uh, and so I was eating that, and of course the kids like you know, they're all big on like consistency and look. So like they saw the over easy egg and they're like, no. But like everyone tried it, and Luke loved it. So now whenever I'm home, Luke asks for an over easy egg on toast the same way. Uh he doesn't he doesn't really care about the spam either way, but he loves the over easy egg on toast. When I'm home, I'm always making him that.
SPEAKER_03So you get it when you get a nice crispy piece of toast, and then you get the the runny egg that's like in oh dude, that is that's so good.
SPEAKER_02And a recommendation add that spam in there. It is it is delicious.
SPEAKER_00I don't think I've ever uh studied and practiced and re-learned uh any culinary techniques like figuring out how to get a runny egg. Right. Yeah. Like have you figured it out because I need I need to study that shit.
SPEAKER_03I I I fuck mine up, and I need Megan to do it all the time.
SPEAKER_00So I mean it depends on the pan you're using. I got like I'm trying to fully commit to like the stainless steel stuff. And so like again, quick kind of tutorial uh for making any kind of eggs, really. But like if you're specifically trying to do over easy, um what they say with stainless steel is you get the you get the pan like crazy hot, like the way almost like if you were making a steak, you get it like crazy hot. You you could do like the water test, see if the droplets immediately look like mercury on the pan. That's when you know the pan is ready. Then what you do is you actually like turn it down to like a like a not like low, but low to medium in the middle.
SPEAKER_04Medium, low, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And you you grease the pan with whatever oil you want to use, give it like a second and then, or like a maybe like 30 seconds, and then pop your egg in there. It's gonna cook quick, but it's not gonna stick to the bottom. That is like really hard. Like you need to know to do that with stainless steel, otherwise you're gonna get like it completely stuck to the bottom, which is the fucking worst, and so annoying to clean. And then the trick is basically from what I've like done is you take like a spoonful of water or like you know, a grab a glass, teeny bit of water, and just pour it on to like the corner of the pan and then cover it, and the steam from the water will basically cook the top of the egg, and so all you're looking for is for the top of like the yolk to get completely white. Um, like that's how you kind of know it's safe to eat at that point. Uh, and then you just take it right out, and basically, like I I've I've been managed to get like a nice perfect runny egg or runny yolk, like I would say seventy five percent of the time, it's still not perfect. And it's also like it's so fast, you know. If you give it like if you get distracted for a second, your egg is cooked. You know what I mean? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh that's the worst when you're looking forward to the runny egg and then it's just a fried egg, and it's like you get that happens to me all the time.
SPEAKER_02I do it a little bit differently because uh So our pans are older from when we got married, but uh as part of a credit card benefit that I had, it it uh it included a Saks Fifth Avenue um credit. Obviously, now Saks is like going out of business and it's all shitty. But so what I did for one of them was that I got a nice like little um pan that was like $75 on there, but it was a nonstick pan. And like when I got it, I was like, okay, Megan, this is my pan. Like I will take care of it. I will clean it. This is my pan. I'm gonna keep it the way that I like it because Megan and I handle these things a little bit different. She's a little bit more loose, and you know, she'll take a she'll take a metal fork and she'll like No Dude, don't even get me started, man. It it it drives me crazy. You know, she'll she'll be cutting up uh like she'll be cutting up like fruit and she'll just put like a napkin down on our marble countertop and then just start like cutting it. I'm like, oh my god, please don't do that. Please use the cutting board. Like, please use a cutting board, and she'll cut onto like you know, glass plates. She'll just use our knives to like cut stuff off. I'm like, oh my gosh. So I'm like, yeah, I got this pan. I'm like, this is my pan. Please do not use this pan at all. Um, and so it's a nonstick pan, and I keep it nice and like you know, well, it's well taken care of. So get it nice and hot, cook the egg over it, and put the egg in. I make it so it's basically like 90% cook, cooked, and then I flip the egg and I take it off of the heat for like 15 seconds. Then 15 seconds, it's done, and it's just like perfectly cooked on the top, and uh and it comes out perfect like every time. Um yeah, so different ways to do it. It's really good. Uh yeah, eggs, eggs are man. Those are the things. Remember when we were having that conversation of like what's like the one ingredient that you could add to any dish and make it better? And like egg was towards the top. Like pretty much, if you if you add egg to anything, it's gonna be good. Um all right, cool. I think that brings it to a wrap here for this episode of the podcast. Uh appreciate everyone who uh who has been continuing to listen to us and has listened to the end of this episode, we appreciate it. Uh, and hope you guys enjoyed it. Enjoy May 5th.
