ooo what's this episode about? ha, wouldn't you like to know!

SPEAKER_04

Howdy everyone, welcome to this week's episode of the podcast. Appreciate you joining us for the lesson and hope you enjoy it. We uh let's see. I am we are dealing with the World Cup right now, and I have it on right now. I just watched uh unfortunately, I don't know if you guys were watching it, but I just watched uh the Canada match where a dude just got his leg destroyed. I didn't see that you didn't see that? No, yeah, it was a taggle from behind, and like and like you can hear the player. I mean, like you knew that it was bad, and then like the audio of the players that were saying his leg is hanging off. His leg is hanging off.

SPEAKER_05

It was like they didn't show replays, did they?

SPEAKER_04

No, they didn't, but it was funny because the announcers were like, hey, just so that you guys know, we have no control over the video feed. It is one feed that everyone is getting worldwide, so we have no control over it. So if they do happen to show it, just warning you, we are not in control of that. So we'll see. Luckily, they did it. Um, but yeah, uh World Cup's going on, which is awesome. Uh, we'll talk about that a little bit later. Uh obviously, USA has a lot of uh good implications. They've started out strong. Um, but uh yeah, let's just roll into what's good for the week. What you guys got?

SPEAKER_07

I got two kind of quick ones. One we kind of spent a lot of time on last week anyway, but the Knicks actually won, uh, obviously, since we last recorded. So that's a great what's good. And I would just double tap on exactly what I said on the last episode. It's just a magical time to be in the city. Um, the afterglow is still there, like it's it's amazing. Um and then uh this actually, yeah. The second is also a very New York one, I would say, because you guys aren't gonna relate, but I moved into an apartment for the first time where I have in-unit washer dryer. Like oh wow, this is your first time having that? I didn't know that your other ones didn't. And it's like crazy. And it and it's actually like a two-in-one, it's like a wash combo thing. And I'm like, oh, that's kind of cool. Like, good way to conserve space without needing both.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, it washes and dries in like the same drum?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, yeah. What? Yeah, yeah. It's very much how long does that take? Uh I looked it up and I guess like the dry process takes a while. Like, wait, you looked it up? Did you have you not used it enough? No, so that's what I was saying. The reason it's my what's good is I've dropped my laundry off at places for the longest time. Uh in almost like the entire time I've been in New York. I always do the drop-off laundry, and then you pick it up and they like give it to you, like kind of like washed, dried, folded, blah, blah, blah. Um, and so, you know, I was kind of like not hesitant, but I was kind of like, how's this gonna go? Because I am like, I do finally have this thing, but also someone else was just doing all the work for me and like neatly folding my shit, which is great. And I was like, all right, how's this trade-off gonna go? Yeah. But honestly, like what I realized today that like in an instant, within the power of my own home, I just can all of my clothes can be clean to wear, you know, within a few hours. Like it kind of unlocks something in my mind where I'm like, oh my God, this is amazing. For the longest time, living as in like, you know, in New York City doing this, like you you start to have like uh you establish exactly how many pairs of like underwear you need because you know that you would drop your laundry off and how long it'll probably take before you can pick it back up. So you have like this thing where you have to think about like these clothes are like not available to me for the next like four or five days. Um, and so like it's it's always been a thing. And now I'm like, oh my god, like all like all my favorite shit I can just wash and like rewear the next day. Like, I don't know. That's like it was just very silly, but I'm like, oh, this is the point. Like, this is why people love this shit. So yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Man, that's wild. So if you like spilled something on a shirt or pants, you can't just like treat it and wash it.

SPEAKER_07

And no, like anytime that's just having a sit. Anytime that's well, it depends on what what what it is, right? Sometimes I'll like rinse stuff in a sink and like I'll just rinse like the affected area and then I'll just throw it in the laundry hamper with like all the other dirty clothes until like it goes to a cleaning. Um, but yeah, most of the time it would just be like put it in the put it in the hamper. Um, thankfully, also like you know, I'm a ground man, like, so it's never been like all there's shit on this. Like, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_04

Like, I'm not dealing with like you know, baby barf and like yeah, yeah, but like, you know, I don't really I don't really make messes on myself, like yeah, but like an oily sauce or something like that that gets on it, it splatters a little bit. Uh not really, not I don't know. It hasn't really happened. I mean, I mean, not that it happens often, but it's like every once in a blue moon, it's like, oh damn it, spilled this, gotta go clean it.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I'm sure that's happened. But you know, yeah, it's just kind of nice to to have this convenience now. Wait, sorry, but I don't know if you've answered it. Have you used it yet? No, uh the reason I'm talking about it is because I'm using it today. Like today today was like, you know, maiden voyage. I still did like uh so when I first got here, I noticed there's a laundry spot like around the block, and I was like, and all the the movers had put so much shit into my like storage area where the also the washing machine is. And I just like that is the stuff that I've been ignoring and like not unpacking because it's like nothing critical, and I'm like, I'll get to it, I'll get to it. And so I've just been like procrastinating on like getting it out of the way so that I can actually open the washing machine door. So today I finally had some time and I was like, all right, let me I want to use this fucking washing machine now. Uh and so I just moved a bunch of shit out of there and then like bought bought like detergent, did the whole thing, and it's running right now. And yeah, I'm just I'm just happy. All my clothes are gonna be ready. I can wear a bunch of shit tomorrow. I'm not used to it. That is awesome.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. And yeah, I bet. And I feel like this is a perfect on-ramp to just talk about the move real quick. Because now you've been in there for a few weeks. Uh, you kind of talked about it that you were moving, all the internet, things like that. I know that you've been traveling and haven't really been like in the place. But I will say, at least from the video feed, the background looks awesome. You really put some uh effort into putting a nice professional background that looks really good. Uh so I guess just to keep it to keep it tight, what are like the two upgrades and two downgrades from the new place so far?

SPEAKER_07

Good question. Upgrades, I think the number one upgrade, and I swear to God, I feel like we talked about this on the podcast already, but I'll just hit it again. Uh neighborhood. Like where I live, I'm surrounded by what feels like peers, you know, whatever stage of life they may be at, but like we all feel like we're in the same, like mostly the same generation, decade. And not that it's like 100% that, right? Like we went and grabbed like a few beers last night at this bar across the street, and like, yeah, there's still like some like a lot of like Gen Z, really like hipster folks that you see here and there. But for the for a large part, it just feels like my people, which is really nice, uh, and a very welcome change after living next to an art college for four years, um, and being surrounded by what felt like truly children. So that's like one big upgrade. Second upgrade is probably just like the place, it's kind of slick, like it just looks nice.

SPEAKER_04

Um like your actual place inside, or just from the the outside aesthetic and everything.

SPEAKER_07

Inside, inside, yeah. Yeah. Actually, I don't really know if that was an elevator too, right? Which is elevator's huge, elevator's great for like yeah, having bring stuff in. Um actually, no, I'm gonna stop myself. I really realize like it's a very New York thing, but my second biggest upgrade is my access to subways that can take me all around the city. Um, I'm now a very short walk to multiple different subway locations for wherever I'm trying to go, which has been huge. Like, yeah, it was it was amazing getting this feeling of like when I finally got home after all the travel last week on Sunday, I get off, I get to Grand Central and I just take one train, one subway all the way down to this one south. It is a bit of a ride, but it's great. I get out five minutes back in my front door, and like in New York, like that kind of convenience and not having to have to like switch to like two, three different trains or whatever, like amazing. So that's a really good feeling. That's probably actual number two, several other upgrades, but those two are are probably uh the prime ones. That's awesome. Yeah, um, downgrades, I would say I don't know. Uh one that I'm feeling pretty much daily is um what it is to live in an apartment that faces west. So basically I from you know, whatever there's a certain point in the afternoon all the way until like seven or eight, that the sun is just like directly in my apartment. Yeah. And especially now in the summer. Exactly, exactly. And I don't like they they these apartments came with like their own like little curtains that you can like pull down up and down, but they're not like nearly enough to like actually fight off the sun. So like when I try to watch something and it'll be like 8 p.m. and there's still like a glare on the screen because like it's still bright out and stuff, and I'm like, okay. I was like, that's that's a little bit of an annoying downgrade that I didn't realize was gonna be a problem. Um, but it's also nice that like I live somewhere where there's no buildings around me, right? So like that's what allows that to happen. Like the reason I wasn't having that issue at my last place is because just there's stuff everywhere. Um but uh that's one. The second one, I don't know, maybe uh it's not really like a big one, but I uh I don't have like the same air conditioning situation, like it's more of like a central whatever, and it's very effective, it works really well, like central air, it's very convenient. But um, before I had this thing that there were like these wall units, and I had a remote, and I could just set the temperature, but I could also set the level of the fan. And like I would basically be able to have like very immediate temperature control. Um, in this case, it's like not that. So like I'll set it at like a temperature before I go to bed for it to like cool down, but I'll wake up in the middle of the night and I'll be like, damn, it got real cold. But like I would have to like go out of my bedroom into the living room to the thermostat to like fix it. And I'm like, all right, that's a little bit annoying. Um, but that's such a not even real problem.

SPEAKER_03

Uh yeah, that might be the only time that someone has said that a the central air is a downgrade from the wall units. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but I guess I try to adjust cylinders for each different unit. Uh yeah, I can see how that can be tedious. Do you guys have does it have like a rooftop area at your new place?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, it's actually uh I love this. So there's an amenities fee. It's uh $100 a month. I moved in as like the amenities hadn't been entirely built yet. But there is an eighth floor that is our amenity floor, and it has a couple things. It has a beautiful rooftop. It's not furnished, but it's like you can go hang out, and like it's kind of nice. Um, stand around if you want to, get some air. Then they have this like it's wrapped around the the little outdoor area, rooftop area, is like what feels like you know, office space, like a very cool, like working lounge. So like if I just wanted to switch up the scenery and go like work somewhere else for a little bit, it's like a very well designed, well furnished. Like it feels like you're in a wee work for a second. Um nice. Yeah, so that that that's cool. And then also on that floor is a gym. But last I went up there. I don't think the gym I think the gym is the last piece that hasn't been fully like completed construction on yet. Um so when I signed my lease, they were like, hey, so like we'll wave, we'll waive the uh the amenity fee, you know, for you for the first term of your lease. And I'm like, cool, that works. Um, but my my my first and only term of my lease is 24 months. So I'm not gonna for two years, I'm just I'm never I'm not gonna pay for it until like you know I have to renew. So I'm like, nice. There we go. Oh dude, that's great. Wow. Yeah, it worked out real nice. Yeah, that's cool.

SPEAKER_04

So overall, good vibes, upgrade, you're feeling good about the new place.

SPEAKER_07

Oh yeah. I'm I'm like geeking out over when I have the time, and like I'm just I'm I'm I'm I'm doing a lot. Like I'm changing this whole place up. It's gonna be the most that I will have invested in making a place, like turning a space into something that like I really am excited to like walk into. You know, I've I've got like lighting stuff, I've gotten a lot of art. I've been like, I did so much like art shopping over the last couple weeks, and I'm just like looking for like things that really like speak to me that I want to like have on my walls. Um, so yeah, like one when I get to like really set the space up, like that's when I'm gonna I'm gonna be so pumped. Uh that you know curated kind of what my space is gonna look like. So TBD.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's awesome. And from what we can see, it looks it looks great. Uh it looks really professional. For your for your art shopping, was this like online shopping? Or or or were you going through uh through art galleries? You do realize that that's a background, right? Is it? No, I honestly did it.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I did it. Okay, so you've been making these like comments about my background, and I thought you were I thought you were joking, but the second one was too sincere. The recent time, which is why which is why Brandon was like, oh wait, what the first thing I thought it was it because just because you haven't used the background before, right?

SPEAKER_04

No, I didn't know you just blurred it out. Yeah, blurred it out. So I just thought that this is it.

SPEAKER_07

No, it's a fake background because uh behind me are a bunch of boxes and stuff, and I just thought it'd be and I was like, uh and I was looking at and I was I normally just blur the background, but I was like, yeah, it would be funny to just put a random background on this, and I just went with this one. Uh yeah, I was like, oh man, it looks awesome.

SPEAKER_04

Never mind. Not really.

SPEAKER_07

I take back everything I said. It looks like shit. Uh yes, my art shopping has been mostly online. The good part about this is the few times where like the uh insane out social like algorithm, like internet, is like really fun and beneficial for you because I came across like one piece I liked and I was like, I think I want to get this. And as soon as I ordered it, I swear to God, I every time I would scroll Instagram the next like several days, even up to now, they're just showing me like different places that have different kinds of art that you could order. Um, and so I got I got a few things like online, uh, but I really took my time and I was like, I just want to get something that I really like. Like I don't want to just get art for the sake of like putting stuff on walls, like I want to actually like browse for a while. And if it's like this thing that I saw like three days ago, it's four days ago. I'm still thinking about it. I do want to kind of go back and like I feel like that's enough confidence to like get it. So I've done that. Um, and then there's I'm just I the only big decisions I need to figure out are like some furniture ones um because I'm tempted to replace a lot of stuff, but then I need to figure out how to get rid of this stuff first or sell it. So I don't know, we'll see. But I'm trying to get all of it done in July.

SPEAKER_03

Did you get like pop art or did you get like like legit like that? I got I got legit art.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I got legit art. Yeah, yeah. Yes. In some cases, like I know that they're like probably like prints and like you know, not necessarily like whatever, some like original whatever, but um I just stuff that really resonated with me, I was like, um I'm I'm getting that. So that's awesome. Yeah, cool, man.

SPEAKER_04

Well that's good to hear. Glad that there are good vibes over there for you. Thank you. I'll just uh I'll just squeeze in my what's good. Uh nothing really major, but um I don't know, I I've talked about it here probably before, but one of the highlights of our summer is July 4th. We go up to my uncle's place, it's on the Jersey Shore, and it's always it's just a good time to relax and wine. He, I mean, I give all the credit to him. He puts so much effort, him and my aunt both put so much effort into the entire time that we're there. Uh he comes up with scavenger uh hunts and he always has new activities for the kids and things that he's trying to do. And um, and my aunt makes a bunch of really good food the whole time that we're there and they take care of everything. So it's uh, you know, they make it really easy and it's really enjoyable for all of us. But so that's in July 4th, and uh you know, where I am right now, it my seniority is not great, so it's really a roll of the dice every month. And so I just got my schedule for July, and somehow I got uh basically all of those days off, uh which I'm really excited about that can be there for the whole thing. Um, so uh that it it it is what's good. Unfortunately, just like where I am in life right now, it also brings a little bit of stress, unfortunately, because I'm very aware that anytime that I'm not working, uh like I just feel like it's like if I'm not working, I'm not making money. Uh and so it's just stressful when I have big stretches of time off. I'm just very aware of that as you know, we're still trying to save up and get ready for hopefully a move in the next year or so. So a lot of things happening. So unfortunately, it's stressful as well. But I'm hoping that when I get there and I can and I can actually start like enjoying that stuff, that that stress kind of falls away for a little bit and I can enjoy it. So I'm just happy right now, or trying to be as happy as I can that I got that time off and it's something to look forward to that I can spend the whole time with the family. So uh that's what's good because it was kind of unexpected as well. I got the whole time.

SPEAKER_03

Um yeah. All right, Brandon, what you got? Yeah, I don't mine will probably lead into stuff that we were gonna talk about after, so it works out going going last year. But my my what's good is it it's the World Cup and it is everything around the World Cup because it's literally like the games have been awesome. Uh and there's been there's been a lot of up until recently, um there were like a lot of ties, and and and I know that that's kind of like anti-American and like a lot of the big knocks on soccer, but if you like watched the games, like they were thrilling ties. Like it was like you were invested in it. It was like like uh Cape Verde held Spain to a a nil-nil draw, which there was absolutely no scoring it, but you're like hanging on the edge of your seat because Spain is just pounding away at this like little Cape Verde who that they well, you know, it's sorry, sorry, go ahead but this like little island nation that if if the uh field for the World Cup hadn't been expanded probably wouldn't have even been there. And it's their first, their first ever, I think it's their it was their first ever World Cup game. Um and they have to go up against Spain, who's one of the favorites. And I don't even know what the Spain had something like 20 shots or or or something like that. It was insane, and they were able to hold on. Um so it's been the the the quality of the games have been really good. You have your stars showing out um with Messi and uh and Harry Kane and Erling Holland uh and Mbappe, all all all of the the big names are as advertised, even after like their club seasons weren't all the greatest. Like some of them had had some down years outside of Harry Kane who who lit it up um in in all all competitions, but uh otherwise it was kind of shaky and didn't know kind of what version of them you were going to get. But they've they've really showed up when the when the lights are brightest here at the at the World Cup. Um but outside of just like the quality of the games and like like the the soccer itself, the vibes, man, like like those stadiums are rocking. All like whether they're in the the Mexico cities and in the Canadian cities and across the US, across the board, whether it's been like the the small nations or the the big names, because that's a again expanded field, you get some of those, like some of the the really like non-marquee matchups that you're gonna have even in the in the group stages. Um but even then you're you're seeing you know 60,000 plus people that are packing these stadiums and they're they're they're singing and kind of living and dying by every kick of the ball, which has been been fun to see. And um then you get all the the the content that comes out of it, you know, from you know social media and and and other places that they're posting videos with Scotland taking over, all the Scottish fans taking over Boston and singing their hearts out during the the match, at all the bars after, at the Red Sox game going there. Uh and you get these videos of like the the the some Japanese fans eating Texas barbecue for the first time and it like blowing their mind.

SPEAKER_07

I saw some of that as you were looking at.

SPEAKER_03

You get some of the like English fans that went to uh uh a uh New Jersey deli for the first time, uh and like all these like experiences and and getting to see all that come through. And and everybody, everybody just seems like they're having like the best time of their life, which is like like that's it's kind of like it's very saccharine to think about the World Cup and be like, oh yeah, you know, we have more in common than what divides us, and the World Cup is like this big kumbaya thing, which is like, oh yeah, fairy tale. But it's like it's cool when that actually plays out and like you actually get to see that human to human interaction and people actually like at like loving it and and genuinely having a good time, no matter what country they're from or who they're supporting, or or Or or what what what they're, you know, really there for.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I wanted uh yeah, I wanted uh I wanted to bring that up as a topic anyway, so I'm so so I'm I'm uh glad that you did. But yeah, I mean especially just like you said, like it's like the fairy hotel, it's always the thing that the World Cup brings everyone together. But like especially now leading up to this World Cup, there was so much negativity surrounding it, and you know, prices were super high, and you know, the presence of ice in all these stadiums was a threat to everyone, and then it was like, oh, like it was supposed to be this big boom for the economy, but then like hotels were not seeing the numbers that they thought they were. Because like, are these stadiums even go even even gonna be filled? Like there's a lot of negativity going into it, and then just to see how it's like all that is like forgotten about now when like when it actually comes down to it, yeah, like like nothing else matters, and I'll and I even appreciated the timing of it because we talked about how awesome the Knicks winning the championship uh was. And like I just saw um they had the parade today when we're recording this, and Mandani's speech was like, I don't know if you heard it, but he gave such such a rousing speech where he called where he just basically went through like each generation of the Knicks and called out like the biggest plays and the moments that they had, and basically about how all of that led to this, about all like you know, kind of like the pain that they went through for the last 53 years, but then also like the big moments that they came together for, and it finally got the payoff in this championship. And like I'm it was I don't know, like I uh I've seen clips of him here and there, but it was the first time I'd really listened to like you know, a a full speech, and he's such an impressive speaker. I'm always impressed by people like that who he had so many facts and details that he had, and he wasn't reading off of anything, it it was just speaking naturally and his cadence and the way that it rose throughout was really impressive. Um, sorry, that was a little bit of a tangent on it, but so the vibes were really good about the Knicks winning, but also there was the ugly side of it, which we've seen so many videos of the Knicks and how they've uh handled it, how they've harassed Spurs fans, yeah, how they've been throwing eggs at Wembleyama, um, how like after the game's winning, it's just like a bunch of like destruction and shit. Um and so you go right from that. Uh where you know, we had like the USA World Cup or uh the USA Olympic gold medal, which got kind of weird afterwards, and then and then and then the Knicks yeah for hockey. And then you go into the World Cup, where just like you were saying, like there are videos of like the Netherlands fans dancing with a Japanese fan, and he's right in the middle of it, and they're doing like the can or something, and the juja is having the time of his life, and then there's all the videos of Mexico and South Korean fans, and and it's crazy. It's like, why are they so interested in them? And then and then you recall back, it's just it's how deep the World Cup fandom runs for these guys that back in 2018 in the World Cup that South Korea beat Germany in a huge upset that allowed Mexico to advance past the group stage, and they remembered that, and so now they see these South Korean fans and they're all partying and uh and just dancing with them. It's just all these just super positive vibes uh coming out of the World Cup. Um, so just seeing that uh compared against the New York Knicks vibes that are kind of negative, it's just it's just really like uplifting, and it's always good to just see any positivity that we have um going on. So uh so it's just really cool.

SPEAKER_03

There was like uh Cape Faraday had some kind of because I think they were playing in Houston and they had some kind of like supporter party thing going on, and then there was like the security guard, like all of the police were there, like dancing with the fans and like going in with it. It's like it's just it's just it's just and like like you said, like like with people thinking that like the police and the ice being there and it being like this big, big issue, and then to see that the again the vibes come up and and kind of you know overtake all of that and put all of that to bed because then at the end of the day everybody's just just having a good time because because it's the work up and it's this thing that literally all all the eyes of the world are are on you and and the the fans that have traveled here are so you know so stoked to be participating in it. Uh and I think all of the you know host cities are so stoked to be hosting that it's just been um you know I I hope it continues. Uh there's always a party that's kind of waiting for the end of other shoe to drop and like like wondering if the like if the worst fears could come to come to fruition. But uh so far it's been it's been really awesome. Uh and I gotta give even Fox's coverage, uh, and I know we we were talking a lot in the lead up to the World Cup about how you know there seemed like there was very little hype around it and like a lot of a lot of people were talking about it. Um and I don't know, some of it might be just because I'm watching more of it now, so I'm like seeing more Fox, and now the things that I'm seeing on social media and stuff, my algorithms change, so I'm seeing more of that kind of stuff. Uh but uh the the way Fox's coverage has been, they have Jameis Wilson, uh Jameis Winston as a uh World Cup correspondent who has been who has been doing he's like he's like whoever decided to give him that that type of content is just he's a star. He's he is so entertaining, just naturally. Uh, and then to to put him in in these situations uh around the World Cup is is phenomenal. Uh I know some people don't love it. Um, and you know, I think uh the desk that they have is actually really entertaining. Not always maybe the best content, but and entertaining for sure. Um Zlatan is for sure more comfortable in front of Net than he is in front of a camera. Uh and and I don't think he rates uh Alexi Lawless very highly or thinks very much of his opinions. Uh and sometimes I think that comes across in their interactions. Uh but it's it's entertaining to watch. And then you have Rebecca Lowe who brings things down really well. Yeah. Yeah as well. Yeah. So it's just it's it's across the board. Uh and then they have you know, they have Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan, and and they have like all the Team USA legends who are are like covering the uh Team USA games, which uh, you know, especially after the opening that that Team USA had, uh, which all the host countries performing well uh also I think plays into it because you love to see that and you like to see the kind of the home teams and and the home crowds get behind, you know, who they're they're they're there to support. And they they've all been playing really well. Um then it was like like when everybody was cheering outside of uh SoFi Stadium after Team USA won and they were doing the USA chants and all that stuff and on the broadcast, it was like enough to give you chills. It was really cool.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and and it also helps that we didn't even talk about it, but USA came out smoking in their first game, and that really helps vibes. Uh that really helps vibes and we came out strong. And uh I guess theoretically we could clinch uh spot tomorrow, depending on how things go.

SPEAKER_03

Um yeah with a with with a win because Australia um Australia won their game, right? They did. Or did they?

SPEAKER_04

I think they did, yeah. They won. Yeah, two nothing. I think they had a plus two differential, but um yeah, I want to ask you, you probably know this, but uh because obviously the host is North America, so me so Canada, USA, Mexico. Do each do each of the host teams do they play all their games in their country?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, they do. They're each all of their group games. Now, once once you get past the into the knockout stages, then you're you're kind of off. And I think the vast majority of those are in the US. So those, yeah, those are set based on where you finish within your group and where you'd be. So they won't necessarily be there, but all of their group stage games are in their in their home. Yeah, that makes sense.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, uh just just a total random thing again, but we mentioned the New York Knicks in their parade today. There was one hilarious video that I saw that was um, are you guys familiar with Tyler Kolick? He's he's Marquette, right? Yeah, uh he's Marquette. He doesn't exactly fit the prototype of a basketball player. Um, but everyone but he's done awesome this year and he did really well in their in their cup games. But so there was a video of him running, you know, inside of the parade area, but he was just running down and like high fiving, but he's wearing his like hat and he has like long shaggy hair, and then the and and then and then a group of police officers miss they thought that he was a fan that had jumped the barricade and was taking part of the parade, and they tried to like, you know, and they like got big with him, and he was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, like what are you guys doing? And he's like, bodyguard had to come up, and or you know, whatever the team's bodyguard or security was there. It was just hilarious. He got mistaken for a fan himself. I would say but I get it, I get it.

SPEAKER_07

The kicker, but the kicker is if you looked at the cop that mainly went after him, because that guy, that cop also looked hilarious. Oh, yeah, yeah. He was like, he looked like uh like uh Santa Claus uh in his 30s, hasn't hasn't found his purpose yet. He just had this big bushy beard. I was like, oh, this is hilarious.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Uh all right, cool. Yeah, so I'm glad you talked about uh the World Cup. Uh vibes are good. Hopefully USA keeps it up, and it's just uh it just seems like it's a good time that's going well for everyone. Um mention briefly, obviously Sarab was visiting me last week when we recorded. It's a good time, good to have him there. Uh I mentioned it on the what's good. But one thing that I wanted to mention that um so uh so three kids, youngest one is three, and so uh she has you know a big personality, she has strong feelings about things. Um but so anyway, so they were out. Uh I forget where they were. Uh Megan took the kids out somewhere and they were and they were away from the house. So Sarab and I were still back home. And so they all come home, and it's getting close to bedtime, maybe like an hour from bedtime or something like that. And so all the kids come into the house and and Lenny, my youngest, um, comes up to me. She goes, Hey daddy, Sarab's putting me down tonight. And I'm like, What? She's like, Yeah, Sarab is gonna put me down tonight. And I'm like, Okay, that's fine. Now, normally that wouldn't be a big deal, but I turned to Sarab and I said, Sarab, just so you know, I can count on two fingers the amount of times that Lenny has said that she wanted me to put her down, her own father. Every single time she wants her mother putting her down. And whenever I say that it's gonna be me, there's all tears and no, I want mommy, I want mommy. Eventually she gets over it and she's fine. But literally, maybe two times that she said, Daddy, I want you to put me down. And literally the first time that she has a conscience that she can talk and make her own decisions about this sort of stuff, she comes up to me and tells me, and tells me that Sirab is putting her down. Like she's rubbing it in my face of like, hey, you know how you really want to put me down all the time? Well, guess what? It's your friend that's putting me down tonight. Still not you. Uh, and so it's just funny, you know. Sirab's like, okay, man, like I don't know what to do here. Like, I've never put down a child to bed. So this is very unusual. Luckily, she's very good with the flow and she's eat and she's easygoing. It's not like she has a very like strict methodical routine. It's just, hey, read some stories, listen to songs. Sorab had her watching YouTube bids of the uh of the different songs that she picked out, uh, and then he's able to put her down.

SPEAKER_07

Don't say like it's my choice. She knew that she could try me for videos and I would say yes. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so yeah. So I told him normally that after I read her a story, that I let her pick out a song, and then I pick out one and we listen to a song as we're like going to bed. But like lights are off and stuff. So I guess that she pegged Sarab as being weak that she could pull one over on him. So then she told Sarav A that we let them listen watch the music videos with the songs, which we normally do not. And then after the two songs, Lenny was able to tell them, Oh, normally my mom lets us do way more, so we can just keep going. So I was like, okay. Which uh so she was able to take advantage of that. But uh yeah, I mean, yeah, all good. Obviously, I don't take that personally, but it was just funny that uh that she wanted to make sure that I knew that someone else was putting her down again.

SPEAKER_07

And I would just I would just add, it was very clear to me like what I was I should have been allowed to or what she should have been allowed to do, right? Which is like one story, two songs. And with me, she got two stories, three songs, all music videos. Um but I knew that I was like, whatever, I can be like the funny uncle. Yeah, whatever. But at the end of it, I'm like, yeah, smoke this shit. This is gonna be great. And so I'm like, put I carry her to her bed and I put it down. She's like, immediately she's like, mom puts me in the middle of the bed. And I was like, uh-huh. I mean, you can you can find it yourself, I think. Um and so she gets into gets into like the right spot. And then I was like, I did a pretty, I did a good job though, right? I did a good job. She was like, nods, and then she was like, Can you let my mom know to come? Yeah, I did I did notice that a little bit.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Uh yeah, it was a good time. Uh we got to hang out. Oh, I don't I don't even think we mentioned it, but we watched Disclosure Day. Why is your name so hard for the disclosure day? That was your most anticipated summer movie. Yeah, I know. I I don't dude, because it's it's just a D-word. Deliverance Day, divergence day. It's something like that, disclosure day, because they're disclosing the the information. But Sarab and I, we were about to go see there's something called the Warp Tour, and correct me if I'm wrong, Sarav, but it's the Warp Tour band. It's the Warp Tour band. With it, and so where they play a bunch of like old school, I say old school, but like 2000s, like, you know, I've seen them several times.

SPEAKER_07

I will see them anytime they're in the city. They are like a like Voltron of like people who sh like share the talents to recreate pop punk like classics, but in like a way that sounds really good. And so, first off, they have a singer who can do like Fallout Boy all the way to like Weezer, it's like like my chemical romance, which is not an easy thing. These are distinct voices. Uh, they have like a girl who shows up and does like Avril and stuff, but they sound so like the bands that you love, uh, that yeah, they're they're incredible. I don't think I've drank more alcohol at a concert in my life than I do when I see them.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so and you guys said no to that and said, let's go see.

SPEAKER_04

Well, yeah, okay, so so there's some, yeah. So they were playing at a place called the Wharf um down at the city. And the Warfare band was doing like a free concert outside. It was an outdoor area out there. So we were like, okay, cool. So that's an option. Problems with it are that uh I live like over an hour away from the city. So it's driving to the city or driving to a metro station and going there. And then we also had to be like, okay, well, like, are we gonna be drinking there? Like, how are we getting home afterwards? Megan has the kids, the logistics of it are a little bit tough. And then also, this was a day that it was like a hundred degrees out, so it's a hundred degrees and it's an outdoor place. It's like, man, are we gonna drive over an hour? And like, yeah, vibes could be good, but like we could also just be like sitting there, like sweating our asses off, like not really enjoying it as much. So it was either that or go to disclosure day. Uh, and so that's what so that's what we chose.

SPEAKER_07

Also, we should have that's like that was like five minutes away from your place.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, exactly. It was right, it was right down the road. So the time frame was a little bit tighter uh as well. And it also allowed us, was that well, um I I think so. I enjoyed the movie. Um, what obviously Strav and I talked about it when we were together, uh, but just to like recap kind of like what my thoughts are, is that I realized that I that this is a movie that you're not supposed to get bogged down in the details about, right? Like, like you're not supposed to be trying to like figure out exactly why this was this way or why this person was, you know. And but it's hard for my brain not to do that. It's like, oh man, like I wonder why they did this, this, but it's like a movie like this, it's about the overarching theme that they're trying to get across. It's like it's it's an alien movie that's not about aliens, you know what I mean? It's about the human condition and how we are and how we interact with each other.

SPEAKER_07

And so like the the experience is the story.

SPEAKER_04

Like, yeah, yeah, exactly. But in my head, it's like, man, like like why did this person do that? You know, whatever, all those things that I just said, uh, when it's just supposed to be like, hey, okay, it's just a it's just a zoomed back look of like, hey, we're really, you know, down here dealing with all the sort of stuff, but like we're using the aliens as this vehicle to just talk about something that's bigger than us that we, you know, should pay attention to a little bit more. Um, so I enjoyed it. I think that I I think that I would love to do another like rewatch of it um just to now that I kind of like know what the aim is for it, just to go through it and to come out with it with another perspective on it. And then also do some reading on it, see what other people's uh uh opinions of are it things that they pick up that maybe I didn't, things like that. So I enjoyed the movie. I think it I don't think it lived up to uh I always compare it to Arrival, which I mentioned last time, and uh and I and it was it was a similar style movie in that it was an alien movie, not about aliens, but I don't think it was on that immediately like man, I totally get what they were going for. It connected really deeply with me. Um I I I just didn't feel that exactly. I enjoyed the movie, I'd like to see it again. Um, but I don't think it's gonna be my favorite movie of the summer.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I would say like Brendan and I both fell in kind of the middle about this movie. I was probably a little bit leaning more negative than positive. Um now that I've had also time to reflect on it. And I'm just like there were there's some things in it that just feel so heavy-handed and corny and out of touch a little bit. Like, and you're kind of like, oh, I understand now why you're expecting a certain emotional reaction to a thing, but like I don't see most of the audience having that if I'm not even having it when I'm actually more of a willing engager with whatever you're you're gonna provide. So, um, anyways, I'm trying to be careful with my wording because I don't want to spoil anything. I think it's worth seeing. One thing I will say, you will not be bored. Like the movie moves, and you get to the end, and it's not a long movie either, and it's kind of like nice, nice appropriate length. So, Spielberg, you know, in my mind, he still has not missed, uh, but not one of his stronger ones, uh, at least in my opinion.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. And and going on the conversation that we had last week of uh of all of the movies coming out, I think it was a good one to start off with because it was one that I was looking forward to, but I don't think it's gonna be my favorite one. And I'm glad that I didn't like wait until like the end to be like, okay, cool. I'm re you know, this is one I'm really putting all of my hope into. It was a good one to start out with. Glad I saw it, and looking forward to the rest of the movies that are coming out this summer. So nice.

SPEAKER_07

I'll say uh my number two has moved up considerably on the number two list, uh, which is the Spider-Man movie. I don't know if you didn't even see yeah, I didn't see it. But like I didn't see it. But I'm like, okay, I don't know how, but they got me. They're drawing me in again. Uh so it looks exciting.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, awesome. Um, yeah, and then us going to go see that movie allowed us to come back and still have a night. We had a couple of our neighbors over. We had frozen margaritas and tacos, and it was just a good, like uh chill night for sure. That of course Megan ended up on the couch sleep. Yeah, we were all outside on the patio because we had the USA game on as well. And you know, I always see Megan's telltale signs, and then she went in. I was like, okay, she just go to the bathroom, show the reg out. Like half an hour later, we're like, Yeah, where did Megan go? And I'm like, Oh man, I've seen this story before. And sure enough, I walk over to the couch and she just passed out.

SPEAKER_03

At least she was on the couch, not just like she didn't just like pass out like between the city.

SPEAKER_07

I think the reason that's why it confuses because she left her like phone and all the stuff like she did the show.

SPEAKER_04

She said that she was planning on coming back out. She just wanted to close her eyes for a couple minutes on the couch. I was like, Well, come on. No, you just had I was just going to be asleep and hope that I woke up. Then I just woke up a couple minutes later. Like that's so funny.

SPEAKER_07

Because that so often happens.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, exactly. Uh, but yeah, well, it was uh it was a good time. Um let's see. One thing that I wanted to bring up, I don't really have a it's not really like a question or thought. I just thought it was very interesting. Um do you guys know, and I mentioned to Saran briefly, but do you guys know how generations, how like all the different generations are like formed, what they are like you know, baby booners, boomers, generation X, millennials, things like that. Uh I thought it was very interesting. It it kind of makes sense when you think about it, but like it's not defined, it's it's not defined uh like at the present time. It's after time has passed that they look back and see what are the commonalities that this generation that has kind of shaped these different generations, whether it's politics, world events, technology advancements, things like that. So they don't really know it until years later when they're like, okay, cool. This was this big shift that happened that's now changed things. Well, now let's decide where that demarcation is drawn for it, which I thought was really interesting. I had never really like thought about it that much.

SPEAKER_03

Um, it's a standard, a standard like birth year thing, like when you're old enough to like procreate, then it's like, okay, well, now that's another generation.

SPEAKER_04

That's what I thought as well. Um, but no, like it's actually there's actually you know social uh things that go into the determinants behind it. Yeah, yeah. So so just to give you some defining experiences, uh go mad starting from like the baby boomers. Obviously, that was pretty obvious. Um, but post war economic expansion, growth of suburbs and home ownership, the Vietnam War, civil rights movement, uh, the space race and Apollo eleven moon landing, television becoming the dominant medium.

SPEAKER_03

So So what are the actual like like what are the birth years for nineteen forty six?

SPEAKER_04

To 1964 was that, which makes sense. Post-World War II, these are all the these are all the people that were born, you know, with everyone coming back from the war for it. So yeah, and they're often associated with strong career loyalty, large participation in traditional institutions, and significant accumulation of wealth and homeownership. So then after that, you go into Generation X, 1965 to 1980, sometimes called the middle child generation because they sit between the large boomer and millennial uh cohorts. And their defining experiences, rising divorce rates and more dual income households, personal computers entering homes, the end of the Cold War, growth of cable television, and economic uncertainty during the 1970s and early 1980s. Often associated with independence and self-reliance, skepticism toward institutions, and adaptation from analog to digital technology. So again, that's 1965 to 1980, which then led into millennials, which is our generation, 1981 to 1996. And that's and this is birth years of people who were born between 81 and 96. Also known as Generation Y, coming of age during the rise of the internet, witnessing the September 11th attacks, social media's uh emergence, the global financial crisis, uh expansion of smartphones. So again, like all that stuff happens afterwards. So that's why like the people born in that, they were shaped largely by September 11th, the global financial crisis, et cetera, things like that. So uh often associated with comfort with technology, delayed marriage and home ownership compared with prior generations, greater emphasis on work-life balance and high levels of educational attainment. Um, and then so Generation Z, right, is uh 1997 to 2012, the first generation to grow up entirely in the digital era, defining experiences, smartphones from in from an early age, social media as a center as a central part of life, streaming services replacing traditional TV, the COVID-19 pandemic during childhood or adolescence, increased awareness of mental health, uh often associated with digital fluency, entrepreneurial insurance, uh, preference for visual and short-term and short-form content, pragmatism about careers and finances, uh, and what they and then what we're in right now, generation alpha. So the children of mostly millennials and older Gen Z parents that defining experiences are growing up with tablets, AI, and smart devices from birth, education heavily influenced by technology, early exposure to streaming and on-demand content, childhood shaped by the aftermath of COVID, um, and their characteristics highly highly technology integrated lives, increased use of AI and education work and more personalized learning experience. And so the one that we're going into now is generation beta, which they're thinking is going to be AI basically fully integrated into their lives.

SPEAKER_03

What was the what were the dates on Alpha?

SPEAKER_04

Sorry, yeah, alpha is 2013 to 2024. And again, and that that demarcation of 2020, but moving into the next generation is still fluid right now as they're thinking that we're in that right now because these people being worn out. Yeah, that this is where AI is really taking off and they're not going to know essentially what it was like to not have AI integrated in their lives, which is pretty wild.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And when you think about it, like and like looking at those dates, it's not it it's not by much, but they are getting like truncated more and more in terms of like who is considered where which would make sense because that with like the speed at which technology evolves and and new things are are introduced would would greatly affect that. And you would think that that would mean that that those are are getting a little tighter from a timeline standpoint. Um and and I think that that bears true. And even I mean, even when you look at like the millennial, uh like our generation and and the lines of of demarcation, I feel like there is like older millennials and like newer millennials, there is a bit of a of a difference, even because generally those that are in like more like born in the early 80s tend to be a little less uh technology um savvy or or fluent as as are being more on the later side uh of the millennials are because we I I feel like like that was more of an ingrained part of ours from like an early standpoint like of our childhood. Whereas I think that the older millennials, like computers and being online and social media and all that kind of stuff, kind of came when they were like older and like past that. Like they were using like computers were coming into schools, but they were in like middle school when the computers were coming in. Whereas we had them when we were in elementary school, was like like we had to like the new new computer. Same thing with Facebook and Twitter and stuff. Like that was all like right around our college age, whereas the older millennials, that was like right in their like postgrad era.

SPEAKER_07

I wonder if maybe that's why they the term zillennial exists, because like they still consider that there's like the later millennials are this portion that might still be very distinct and share more with like late like early Gen Z or something who don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, no, no, I can totally see that. Yeah, especially because I mean that makes sense that it's it's not like a a fine line of demarcation. There's going to be some kind of like I like I said, there's some older millennial there's some older millennial folks who are in their their forties that are I think are just as tech savvy, and there's some that are in their late 30s that are maybe were a little more sheltered and and a little less tech savvy. It's it's not a it's not a fine line.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, because I mean, even thinking that on the back end of that was 1996. So those are people that are just turning 30 this year, it's like, man, it feels like there's a big difference between where we are right now and where they are at 30. Like that seems like a huge gap uh between us. But um, yeah, so yeah, I just wanted to bring that up because I heard someone mention it. Uh actually it was someone that I was flying with, and he mentioned about uh about these dinner he had done like a lot of research into it, uh, weirdly enough. But I just thought it was it was just fascinating because I never really thought about it. We hear about these generations all the time, but I never really thought about like how it's determined and what the defining characteristics are. So I thought that was pretty interesting. Um all right. Let's you know what? Let's uh start. Do you have a this week in history? I do.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, all right. Let's go with that. Do a couple of these uh that were kind of entertaining. All right, let's do it. Um Gaming and business. Gaming business, fun fact. Uh June 6th. Oh, also I did the entire range of like when we were not, when we haven't done it, so kept it kind of open. Uh June 6th, 1984. Uh Tetris, which was built by Alexei Pajetnov on a Soviet state computer, which meant the government owned it and he earned nothing from his own global smash for roughly a decade. No. Wow, I didn't realize that Tetris was Russian. Bonus. Yeah, man. The name fuses Tetra, which means four, with his favorite sport, tennis. That's why it's called Tetris.

SPEAKER_02

Uh that makes a lot of sense, actually.

SPEAKER_07

Um, okay. Got another one.

SPEAKER_04

Are there four shapes? Are there four major? I'm not a big Tetris fan.

SPEAKER_07

I think it's more than that. It's more than that. That's why I don't know what the four means, honestly. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know if they were in the original Dow.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

I don't know. Oh, maybe you're saying it might have been four shapes back then. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Can you see, can you see like the next four that are coming? Is that how it works? I haven't played Tetris in a while. I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

But if I'm thinking of the pieces, there's the long stick, there's the cube, there's the L, and there's the zigzag. Yeah. Are there any others? There's the block. Yeah, the block. Is that good? Okay.

SPEAKER_02

And then I think you just get L's that go it get can go different ways, but they're L'spawn.

SPEAKER_07

I think there's four blocks. Yeah. Alright. No. What about the one that's like a chode? What? I think you're playing a different game, man. No, there's there's the one that's there's the one that's a chode, and it's just the it's it's just distinguished with the block in the middle. You know what I'm talking about? I think that's a different game. No, there's there's there's a bell. And then there's one. Yeah, and there's it's a T.

SPEAKER_03

It's a T. Yeah, yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, I I see what you mean.

SPEAKER_04

I yeah, I got you.

SPEAKER_07

Point proven. Um Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, yeah, I guess.

SPEAKER_07

Uh I just thought this was interesting. June 9th, 1973. Secretariat won the Belmont by 31 lengths. Yeah. Still the largest margin in triple crowd history. They just showed I just saw a clip of that, the recording of that video.

SPEAKER_03

That was that's insane. Yeah. I actually think, like, I I know it's horse racing. That's probably the most impressive athletic feat that I I think that's.

SPEAKER_07

It's at a later autopsy found that his heart was about 2.5x the size of a normal horse's. So but what what's really interesting to me is like if you just have like a big ass heart, but like you're generally a size of the whatever mammal you're supposed to be, can you just do athletic feats? Like must be. Like I would think that it can be. I would think if you were like just a bigger person.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you can't have too big of a heart.

SPEAKER_04

But that is a good point. That I that that's that's the only time I'd ever heard of heart size uh in an athletic competition when you would think that if that is in it that it if that is indicative of elevated athletic ability, that that would be studied in humans. Yeah. Of like, hey, does LeBron James have a bigger, you know, does he just have a bigger heart? You would think that that would be out there a little bit more, unless it has been and it's just not, you know, it also correlates like two 2.5x is crazy.

SPEAKER_07

That's not like that's big.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. Uh and that's the thing is that like, you know, everyone says that he was just a machine built to run. Yeah, and that evidently all of our like most of our top winners now in his family tree.

SPEAKER_07

He's like yeah, he's like the Genghis Khan of Horses.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. Exactly. That's um all right, cool. Uh another one, just unintentionally, but also kind of the fun facts that our trivia was based on last time. Uh, June 11th, 1993. Um, the Velociraptor communication barks in Jurassic Park are recordings of tortoises mating. Oh, sound designer Gary Rydstrom Rydstrom also built the T-Rex roar from a baby elephant and the raptor hiss from an angry goose. Oh man. It makes me really wonder. Like, I think every time we hear dinosaurs in movies make noises, I think I have always been like assuming on some level they've scientifically arrived at that. That that's what they sounded like. Hilarious to find out that there's just some guy who's like, what would be a wild noise?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, let me hear turtle, let me hear turtles made it. Yeah. That's it. That's it. That's a Velociraptor.

SPEAKER_04

Man, I do have to tell a I do have to tell a quick story about this. So I was in Hawaii. I I had young kids back home. So I so close to our hotel was a zoo. And so I just I was by myself and I was like, you know what? Let me go check out the zoo. I'll walk through it. It was like a couple dials to get in. It wasn't that expensive. And I was like, and I take some pictures and videos of some animals that I saw, and I can go back and show it to the kids, right? So I'm walking through the zoo and I hear this noise. And it's a repetitive, loud like scream almost. Uh, and I'm like, man, that's like super loud and very like I gotta find out where this is coming from. So I'm walking around, and I have to walk around for like a good deal because it's so loud that it's like hard to like like honey in on where it's coming from. But I eventually do, and it is uh a sound, and I see it, and it's one giant tortoise on top of another giant tortoise, which already the physics of it. You just it just like catches you off guard because they're so big, and this dude is just going to town and he's got his neck out and he's making these loud screaming sounds, right? Wait, it was the guy? Yeah, it was the guy who was just putting in work. And so so anyway, so I'm so I'm like standing there, uh, and I and I and I soon realize that I'm the only one standing there. So it's just me, just a grown man, just watching two tortoises get it on. I'm like, man, I feel really uncomfortable about this. But I'm like, well, I've got to at least make it worth it, and I gotta take a video of it. So it's just me videoing these tortoises do it very loudly, and it's just me standing there. So I just so in the video, you can hear me just laugh to myself because I realize like how ridiculous this looks if someone walks up, and it's just me just watching these two at it.

SPEAKER_07

It wouldn't have looked that ridiculous if you weren't hard.

SPEAKER_03

So it it probably looked ridiculous. Yeah, it did. But I I mean, but now you would have been able to tell them, you know, I'm just doing some research for my dinosaur movie.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, exactly. That's hilarious. Yeah. Um all right, last one I had was uh June 16th, 1963. The first woman in in space, Valentina Tereshkova, was a former textile factory worker chosen largely for her amateur parachuting, because uh these crews had to eject and parachute before landing. She orbited 48 times and remains to this day the only woman to have flown a solo space mission. No way. I'm just quite progressive. We know about what's her name who you know went on a plane and disappeared. Well known what's her name, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We all know her. Yeah, what's her name? I'm not gonna remember, I don't remember her right now.

SPEAKER_05

We all know her.

SPEAKER_07

She disappeared, okay. Yes, there you go. Yeah, yeah, that's what I meant. What's her name? Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And she disappeared. This woman is, you know, came back. That's why we don't remember her. She disappeared. She okay. You're right, you're right.

SPEAKER_04

All right. Uh cool. So the rest of the podcast is gonna be slightly thematic. So I'm trying to decide the order what the I want to do this. I think we'll start with trivia. Okay. All right. So uh the way that this trivia is gonna go is that there are gonna be four total rounds. You guys each get one round, okay? And so uh how it's gonna work is that one person is going to mute themselves. Sorry, is gonna they cannot hear, uh like just turn off the sound, turn off the audio so that you can't hear. Um, and then I'm gonna provide the questions to the other contestant, and then we'll swap for the next round. How the questions go is that you'll have five, uh each round consists of five questions with an increasing dollar amount. So question one is worth $10, question two, twenty dollars, question three, thirty dollars, all the way to fifty dollars. Now, uh the questions obviously go from easy to harder as they go on. And at any point after uh after you answer a question, you can either bank your money or keep going. So if you bank your money, the round ends with that dollar amount. If you want to risk it, you can keep going to the next question. If you get it wrong, you go you end the round with zero. So it's up to you if how far you think that uh that you can make it. The reason that we are four rounds? There's four total rounds. If you guys have two rounds. Um and the reason why it's muted, you guys all have different questions, but uh I don't want you to hear how many points or how many dollars the other person winds up with. Okay so that you have to kind of do it on your own. Okay. So I think last week we started with Brandon. So Sarav will be our first. So Brandon, if you could mute it.

SPEAKER_01

I'll give you uh okay.

SPEAKER_04

I realized that I didn't go over the symbol or the signal that I would give him of when to come back. So uh hopefully he gets it when I give him a thumbs up. Uh all right, so Sarav, you understand the basis of the game? The first question is for $10. Yep. You don't have a choice. You have to answer. I know. Yes. All right. Uh so the theme is wild encounters and wilderness hazards. All right. So for $10. If you encounter a bear in North America, standard survival advice depends heavily on the species. For which species specific type of bear is the gold standard advice to play dead by lying flat on your on your stomach with your hands claspsed behind your head, your neck. This is a grizzly bear? Grizzly bear is correct. Can you do you remember what the saying is? No. Really? I didn't know there was a saying. Yeah, man. If it's if it's black, fight back. If it's brown, lie down. And if it's white, good night. Uh it's gonna mess you up. All right. So uh good. Yeah, grizzly bear is correct. Also acceptable answer was brown bear. So you have ten dollars. So would you like to bank it or keep going? Keep going. Okay. Uh question number two for twenty dollars. If you are lost in the woods without a compass, nature provides a few clues. In the northern hemisphere, moss tends to grow more heavily on which specific cardinal direction of a tree trunk where it is shaded and damp. Which direction of a I don't even know how it would answer the question. In the northern hemisphere, moss tends to grow more heavily on which specific cardinal direction of a tree trunk where it is shaded and damp. Obviously, the key to this question is northern hemisphere. Yeah. And moss grows on the cardinal direction where it is shaded and damp.

SPEAKER_07

Cardinal direction, maybe that's what's confusing me. North, south, east, west. Oh, okay, gotcha, gotcha. That's the part. I was okay. I did not know that's what that meant. Uh south? Incorrect. Is it west?

SPEAKER_04

Uh the correct answer is north. So I didn't want to give so I left out a portion of the question. So if you are lost in the woods without a compass, nature provides a few clues. In the northern hemisphere, because the sun shines from the south, moss tends to grow more heavily on which specific. So because it's on the south, the where it's shaded and damp is on the north of trees.

SPEAKER_05

Oh. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. I know. Kind of a kind of a confusing question. But that's why I want to say like the northern hemisphere, uh, right, because it's angled that way. Yeah. So of course. Uh okay, cool. So uh so that takes you back to zero, unfortunately. And we'll get uh we'll get Brandon back in if we can. Yellow? All right, Brandon.

SPEAKER_07

Are you just gonna also are you gonna just give me the same thumbs up? I'll just wave for that.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. I'll just wave and give you a thumbs up. All right.

SPEAKER_03

Uh wait, wait, wait, wait. Now now that he's not listening, how much did he get?

SPEAKER_01

We don't know. No, you do, dude. You should just tell me.

SPEAKER_03

We don't know.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so Brandon, question number one for ten dollars. If you are swimming in the ocean and find yourself caught in a powerful, narrow channel of fast moving water pulling you away from the shore, you are in a rip current. To survive and escape it, in what direction should you swim?

SPEAKER_03

To survive it, should you should swim out the shore. With the you swim with the current, not against it.

SPEAKER_04

Be more specific. If you are swimming in the ocean and you find yourself caught in a powerful narrow channel of fast moving water pulling you away from the shore, you are in a rip current. To survive and escape it, in what direction relative to the shoreline should you swim? Away from shore. Incorrect. Wow, really? Incorrect, yeah. You're supposed to swim. You haven't heard this? No. You swim parallel to the shore, right? Because if a rip current is in a channel, right? It's just a narrow band, so you're trying to get out of that rip current.

SPEAKER_03

So you just swim parallel to it. Shit, don't take me to the gone.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, so uh just for fun, I'm gonna ask each of you guys the other person's question that they got wrong. So uh, Brandon, if you are lost in the woods without a compass, nature provides a few clues. In the northern hemisphere, moss tends to grow more heavily on which specific cardinal direction of a tree trunk where it is shaded and damp. The key there being in the northern hemisphere. In the northern hemisphere, moss tends to grow more heavily on which specific cardinal direction of a tree trunk where it is shaded and damp. My initial guess would have been south. That is the same answer that Sarab gave. So it was also increased.

SPEAKER_05

Yep.

SPEAKER_04

The correct answer is north. It's north, right? Because if so the sun, mainly around the equator, right? So if you're in the northern hemisphere, the sunlight is hitting it at an angle, right? So the north side of it is gonna be the shaded and dark side. That's what's mostly shaded. Yeah. That's interesting that you both of you guys getting the same answer. And Sarav, so uh Brandon's question if you are swimming in the ocean and find yourself caught in a powerful, narrow channel of fast-moving water pulling you away from the shore, you're in a rip current. To survive and escape it, in what direction relative to the shoreline should you swim? Parallel? Parallel to the shore. That is correct. Yep. All right. Uh so both of you guys have zero dollars going into the last two rounds. Uh so we started with uh Sirab first. So Sarab, if you can go ahead and mute yourself. All right, I'm going to mix these questions up a little bit.

SPEAKER_03

Um these all survivor-related questions?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, sorry. I mentioned it to Sarab, but not to you. The uh yeah, the theme is is uh lost in the wilderness.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. All right. So uh Brandon, when building an emergency shelter in the forest, survivalists often construct a simple single slope shelter that relies on a fallen log or branch tied between two trees, covered in brush to shield against the wind. What is the common two-word architectural term for this type of shelter?

SPEAKER_00

Two-word? My initial thought was bungalow. That's not two words. G g give it to me again.

SPEAKER_04

When building an emergency shelter in the forest, survivalists often construct a simple single sloped shelter that relies on a fallen log or branch tied between two trees covered in brush to survive to shield against the wind. What is the common two-word architectural term for this type of shelter?

SPEAKER_01

Two word term for a makeshift slanted shelter. It's been too long since I've read Call of the Wild. Is it a uh I don't know if it's a two word term? Would it be a I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna go let's go a uh I'm just gonna stick with bungalow because that was the first thing that came to life.

SPEAKER_04

Bungalow is incorrect. The correct answer is a is a lean to.

SPEAKER_01

Lean to.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Uh yeah. Yeah. We're probably just gonna turn this into a general trivia and just see who gets the most right. So I'm just gonna I'm just gonna get Sarab back in here.

SPEAKER_07

Unfortunately, I have a I have a new issue. Okay. The washing machine. I've tried to start the dry process three times, and it keeps triggering the circuit breaker and just turning off. Oh no. Oh man. So I think I might have a problem because I just put all my clothes in there.

SPEAKER_02

Is it do you have anything else on right now in the apartment? Like running?

SPEAKER_07

Literally this and like a light. It's nothing.

SPEAKER_04

You know what? This is a great opportunity for to go meet some of your neighbors who might also who might also have a washer dryer. Yeah. You just walking around with your sopping clothes, just asking for assistance.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, not ideal, but whatever.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so on the String game, I'm realizing that the questions I thought it would be fun to have a survival wilderness thing, but I realized that none of us, myself included, are big survivor wilderness people.

SPEAKER_07

We're very big, keep it going until we lose people.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, exactly. We need civilization. So I think that what I'm just gonna do, just turn this into a general trivia. Both of you guys will be on it, and whoever knows the answer can buzz in by saying their name and then what and then we'll do it that way.

SPEAKER_07

So I don't I don't love that Brandon got to have a second try and then we're switching the format.

SPEAKER_04

Sarav, I will give you the exact same question. Okay. All right, just to make sure that it's totally even. There you go. When building an emergency shelter in the forest, survivalists often construct a simple single slope shelter that relies on a fallen log or a branch tied between two trees covered in brush to shield against the wind. What is the common two-word architectural term for this type of shelter? Lean to. You were real quick with that. He was quick. All right. Lean to is correct. And Brandon feels a lot worse about himself. I sure do. Okay. Uh but so with that, uh Oh no, Sarab has two points and Brandon has none right now. So I'll just give you a couple of these other ones just as an interesting. Um let's see, ones that you guys might get. Okay. Just buzz in by saying your own name, and that'll be your buzz in. Okay, when building a survival fire, you need three distinct types of wood materials.

SPEAKER_05

Alright, never mind. Go, go, go.

SPEAKER_04

You need three distinct types of wood materials. You start with tinder to catch the spark, and you finish with fuel logs to keep it burning hot. What is the term for the medium-sized twig sticks or split wood used in the middle stage to transition the flame from the tinder to the heavy logs? Brush brush is incorrect. Brandon, do you have a guess? You have heavy logs and you have tinder. So you have tinder, blank, and then you have logs. So what is the middle portion of that?

SPEAKER_03

Sad because I actually think that Megan probably knows this. Really? Why? Yeah, I I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

She just knows how to build a fire?

SPEAKER_03

She just grew up building a whole bunch of fires, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Okay. Um I have another guess, but uh I want to guess before you tell us the answer, depending on what break it says.

SPEAKER_03

Tinder. And I I I got nothing, you guys, rah. You guys are not survivor fan.

SPEAKER_04

I was gonna say, is it is a splints? No. Splints is what you use to to keep a broken like a broken blah bone. So the correct answer is kindle. It's the kindling. Oh, the kindling. Yeah. No, Megan definitely knew that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that makes sense.

SPEAKER_04

Um okay. Uh if you are stranded in an arid environment without surface water, you can build a survival device by digging a hole in the ground, placing a collection cup in the center, covering the hole with a clear plastic sheet, and putting a small rock in the middle of the plastic. This uses the sun's heat to evaporate moisture from the soil and condense it back into clean water. What is the two-word name for this classic survival sub? Okay. Okay. Okay, this is a poor okay, this is a poor trivia.

SPEAKER_02

You have to you dig a hole, you get a cup, you have plastic over top, you set a rock on it, and that this is like a classic thing. God, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Everybody does this.

SPEAKER_04

You're in an arid environment. Just like, just like what's her name? Everyone knows this. Everyone knows this.

SPEAKER_02

Come on. So this is like if you're in the desert, you can do this, and it'll get what you can get water?

SPEAKER_04

Uh in an arid environment. Not necessarily desert, because the the ground still has to have some moisture in it to basically dig it so that the evaporation pulls the water from the ground, but then it gets trapped on the on the plastic, and then it all collects down and then drops into the container.

SPEAKER_03

And this is this has a name, a classic two-order name.

SPEAKER_04

Classic two-order name. Okay, you know what? These will be more fun facts. All right. So that's called a solar still. Oh yes, a soul blue still.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

All right.

SPEAKER_02

I thought that was when you take a picture of the sun.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh does anyone know how long you can survive without food? Is it a week? Ten days? Swab's muted. He's talking, but nothing's coming through. 70 days. 70 days is incorrect. Okay, so you guys have not heard of the rule of threes.

SPEAKER_02

Um three weeks without food? Three days without a few years. Yeah, well.

SPEAKER_04

It's three minutes without air, three days without water, and three weeks without without food. Okay, going well. We work from home. Like we moving right along. You guys are also readers. I thought that maybe, you know, stuff would all right.

SPEAKER_02

Uh like I said, it's been a long time since I read Call of the Call of the Wild.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. In a survival situation, tying a secure knot can mean the difference between life and death. You also do a lot of like crossword puzzles. You know, you always do your week. I thought that maybe this stuff would come into play. Uh, there's one legendary knot known as the king of knots because it forms a secure fixed loop at the end of the rope that will not slip or tighten under a heavy load, making it the standard for rescue operations. What is it called?

SPEAKER_03

Again, you know what? Megan probably knows this too. Can I can I phone a friend?

SPEAKER_04

Can I phone a friend? Okay, so the correct answer is a bowlin. A bowlin.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. That's what I was gonna say. Okay.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, winner takes all.

SPEAKER_03

Wait, Bolin or Bolind? Bolid. Bolin, spelled B-O-W-L-I-N-E.

SPEAKER_04

All right, this is winner takes all now. Here we go. If you're stranded at sea on a life raft, the most immediate danger alongside dehydration is exposure to the elements. Even if you are desperate for a drink, drinking seawater will actually accelerate dehydration and cause kidney failure due to the dangerously high concentration of wet mineral. Salt. You didn't say your name. I said me. It's my Brandon. Brandon. Okay, go ahead, Brandon. Salt. Salt is correct. Wow, good job. So pumped and really brought it home. Other other possible answers that we could have uh had are gators, magnetic declination, the death zone, uh snow blindness, sighting hole, and cairn. So I'm sure you guys would have gotten any number of those. Snow, snow blindness and cairn, I may have.

SPEAKER_03

The other ones I for sure would not have.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Okay. All right. Uh yeah, so that trivia, I guess, a little bit tougher than I thought it was gonna be. Uh that was insane. So I so keeping up with the with the theme of survival and wilderness, I watched a video today and it led me to a discussion that I know we've probably had, but I think it's interesting to have on the podcast as well. The video the video showed uh this guy on a like dirt bike, and he was and he was at a standstill, and in front of him is a giant ostrich who's just reared up on him with with its with its wings flapping uh in front of him. So the guy on the bike is off of his bike and he's like trying to like hold it because the ostrich is like pushing him back. Then he just he takes the and now this ostrich, if you guys aren't familiar with the size, especially in this video, this is like a six-foot-tall guy, and this ostrich is nine, ten feet, it's towering above him, right? This dude takes the ostrich, grabs it by the neck, gets it into a headlock, and just starts throwing haymakers on the head of this ostrich. He gives them like five or six shots to the head, and then he lets them go, and then the ostrich runs away. It was the most insane thing that he just decided, because ostriches, from what my knowledge of them are that they're pretty vicious and they're territorial, and they have sharp claws, and their beak is really strong too. Like, you know, they used to digging in ground, and they're like, that's not that's not a uh, you know, that's not a cute little puppy. Uh, it's kind of a formidable being, especially one that's towering over you. And he just yoinks this thing's neck and just starts going to down on its head and then lets it go. It reminded me of the video that I'm sure we've all seen of the guy squaring up to the kangaroo, the kangaroo that was attacking the guy's dog, he just squares squares up there and punches him once in the face, and then the kangaroo's like stunned as the guy just like leaves. So again, I'm sure we've had this conversation, but uh, in your estimation, what is the largest animal that you could defeat in a fight to the death? And just to set the stage for this, you have no weapons, you have no, just for the sake of it, you have no clothing that you can like rip off and like make a you know something like that. Just just imagine yourself naked, just out in the wilderness, and and whichever animal you're you are taking on, you are in their environment as well. So, like if you pick a sea, you know, a water animal, you're in their environment. So you have to take that into account as well. So, what is the largest animal that you think that you could that you could defeat in a fight to the death?

SPEAKER_07

I'd probably go like a black bear. You think you could defeat a black bear? Not a brown bear or a black bear, like the fucking little ones we have in fucking New England. I mean, they can still get pretty big.

SPEAKER_04

And this is not this is them, it's it's them trying to kill you and you trying to kill it. It's not just like a random animal that is like gonna get scared when you like raise your arms. Like you're both in in it's them or me situation.

SPEAKER_07

Interesting. So you think that like because they're easy to scare, that doesn't mean in a fighting situation they wouldn't be.

SPEAKER_04

That they would be, right? If you were both. I think that's playing into your mindset that we talked about, hey, if it's black, fight back. That if you get bit that's generally the the rule of thoughts that if you get big and loud, that the brown that the black bear is gonna run away. Sure. But in this situation, I think that you versus nobody. You gotta go. You're going for murder, unconded. Yeah. And then I'll also add the other part of this is that you have to give us what technique you are going to use to kill this animal.

SPEAKER_01

Killer.

SPEAKER_04

You have to have an actual thought act. Yeah. So I'll give you mine, for instance, one of mine that uh that I had. So and it it it so mine was a zebra. Oh it could go either way, but I'm saying that there's but I'm saying that there's a chance. I'm saying it's about 50-50. Now, my thought process behind it is that they're smaller than a horse. I don't think I could take a horse. I don't think I'm doing anything to a horse. I mean, they're not much smaller than a horse, though. Right. They're they're they're a little bit smaller. Um, but you know, and then there's all these reports of like they're I've heard there was something about uh someone having a zebra as like a pet, and it's like they're the wor they're just very irritable, angry, like kind of like assholes that will bite you if they get the chance. Um but so I, you know, a zebra, it's pretty big, it's strong, but with my technique, I think I could. And what I would do is that whenever I'm in close proximity to it, all that I have to do is try to get up under the head and just grab onto the neck. And so I would just be grabbing onto the neck with its head over my shoulder, and then I would just start kicking at whatever front leg that I'm near, and I'm just trying to pair an ACL or something with his like front legs, and then once I get that down, then I'll be good. And that's my that's my technique. I agree. I think it could go either way, but I think if you know if things hit right, I think I could get under the neck, I think I can do something to one of its front legs, and then at that point I can just wait it at it.

SPEAKER_03

And is this are we are we in the Thunderdome? Is this like an enclosed space where they can't get away?

SPEAKER_04

No one's running from each other.

SPEAKER_03

You guys are both attacking each other. I might feel okay about taking on a giraffe. Okay, well they got what's your technical? They got really long legs and they don't move that quickly. And if you can, if you can get them down, it takes them a long ass time to get up. So my giraffes fight though?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I no, I've never seen a giraffe fight. They there's a lot of dodging. They swing their hands. There's a lot of dodging. But it's uh, it's not it's not fast. I I feel like I'd be able to, I feel like I could move quicker than what it could it could do. And if I'm if I'm rolling on the ground, I would I I would roll, army crawl that bitch if I have to, up to the legs and take out, take out the legs. I would launch myself and try to break a leg and or at least try to s to to to injure it enough on a leg that it goes down. Once it goes down, I can get up to the head before it can go and and and choke it out and do whatever I have to do to smash the head in. But I think I think I can get it down.

SPEAKER_04

But the fact that he's trying to kill you, once you're on the ground, if he steps on you once, you're done. Like that's all he has to do is just stomp. And if he gets you in the head, yeah, that's it.

SPEAKER_03

But I've I've never I've never seen a giraffe move that quickly where it I'd be like, man, I don't know if I'd be able to get away from that. If I'm if I got mine, if I got my yeah, but it's like a it's like a gallop. And yeah, they're big and they're big and they can move. But if he's if he's coming at me, I I think I can angle myself, find, find an angle in where I can get at the legs. And with him moving that quick, I don't have to even hit the legs that hard. If he's if he's got his legs moving, I can take out his, if I can grab the front legs, grab a front leg and roll on it. And to your point, take tear an ACL, break, break something. Without that leg, they're gonna go in down, and then once once I have him on the down, then I feel really good about it because I don't think he's gonna be able to get back up before I can get to the neck, the head, and be able to do the damage. So it would have to choke, choke it out, twist the neck, do do whatever I can. The neck's probably pretty strong. So I feel like I'd have to probably have to choke it out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Probably have to probably have to choke it out and just just bear hug and squeeze. But I I I think that that's that's probably if we're if we're going for the biggest, I think that's probably the biggest that I would I would think that I have a chance. Honestly, none of them I feel really great about.

SPEAKER_04

And you know, after after we do this, I'm gonna put this all into AI and see which one it thinks that we have the best chance against in real life. And see if we actually interested.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. All right, Sarah. I'm going kangaroo. Because I know it's doable.

SPEAKER_04

Well, you don't. He got one hit on it and it's still lying. He did not you he might not have even harmed it. The thing was just shut.

SPEAKER_07

I didn't say I was I didn't say I was fighting that kangaroo. That's a different breed. I'm not fighting that guy. I'm fighting a kangaroo. Yes. Uh I think my strategy would just be getting in in a yoke. Why is it so funny to me? It's just getting in in a yoke and then just hanging on from like the neck until I have enough uh weight or time to just snap it.

SPEAKER_04

Man, I feel like you guys are underestimating the power of these animals. I think that's the whole point of this question. I know, but if a kangaroo like it uses its feet to kick you, like I don't know how you're getting close to it without it getting a good kick to your chest. And if it gets you square, man, that can be it. Just one kick straight there.

SPEAKER_07

It's not gonna suspect me. I move too fast. It it it it only moves up and down. I could do side to side.

SPEAKER_04

So you're coming in from the side, so we're all hugging our animals, we're all just doing a death hug. I mean, you have to.

SPEAKER_03

We're whispering sweet nothings into their ears as they when it comes to a big and that's that's where like I don't know if I knew where a giraffe heart was, but even then, like I I don't know if I could if I would be able to to punch hard enough in a giraffe heart to stop it. Do the kill bill. If I don't have any weapons or anything to me, basically all all I have is is is squeeze the neck. That's like my only my only real option. Um I mean, unless it I mean if I can just depends on how long this is gonna go on for, but uh I don't know how many uh how many days without food a giraffe can go. But if I if I if I break its legs, it it's not moving.

SPEAKER_05

Then it's just a waiting game. Yeah, then it's a waiting game.

SPEAKER_03

Then I just wait it out. So um I would I feel like I would have to go for the neck because I I don't know how long I know I know I could I could go three days without water, but I'd probably be seeing some some shit in in hallucinating after uh after a day really get dehydrated. So I don't know that I'd be able to wait it out.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so I put it into I put it into AI and well. This is is it claud or clawed or chat GPT? This is Gemini. This is Gemini. So I asked it to rank uh from most likely to kill to least likely. So the most likely to kill is a kangaroo. Well to be perfectly clear, a large male red kangaroo can absolutely still kill a human. They stand up to six feet tall, weigh up to 200 pounds of pure muscle, and possess a terrifying defensive strategy. The threat, kangaroos lean back in their massive muscular tails and launch dual-legged forward kicks. Their feet are tipped with large razor-sharp claws designed to tear open rivals. Why it is number one, it is the only animal on this list that is close to human weight. If you outnumber it, a coordinated group might stand a fractional heavily bruised chance of overwhelming it. So it's not even saying one-on-one. Uh well, but anyway, so number two is zebra, highly unlikely to kill. People often mistake zebras for friendly striped horses. In reality, they are aggressive, unpredictable, and completely untamed pack animals that thrive in environments surrounded by lions and hyenas. Uh, zebra weighs 500 to 800 pounds. Their kick packs around 3,000 pounds of voice force easily enough to shatter a human skull or cavern and chest cavity. To make matters worse, unlike horses, zebras possess a nasty, aggressive bite and a habit of not letting go. Uh so number three is giraffes. Absolutely zero chance. Taking on and taking on an adult giraffe unarmed is a quick way to become a statistic. They are they are literal giants, weighing up to 2,600 pounds and standing 19 feet tall. Dude, just looking at the legs of the picture and shows, you're not doing anything to that leg. That is huge. Uh, when fighting apex predators like lions and giraffes' primary weapon is a devastating hoof strike. They can kick in any direction with enough force to decapitate a lion or saturate spine instantly. When fighting each other, they swing their massive heavy necks like like wrecking balls. Uh why it's number three, you physically cannot reach any vital areas to do damage. You are essentially trying to fight a two-ton biological crane. See, but uh but I'm knocking it down first. That's all I'm saying.

SPEAKER_03

Like we haven't put in our techniques, our size, body weight, you know, you don't know anything. It's like it's like it's like, no, this thing detec decapitates lions. Like you don't stand touching it.

SPEAKER_02

It's like it's like if the king of the jungle can't do it. You might have to roll up and think that I'm gonna be able to.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know those other apex predators? These those guys are nothing to this guy.

SPEAKER_03

All right. So yeah, yeah, that's that's probably not wait.

SPEAKER_04

So all right, so the theme wasn't great. We got into some wilderness, we decided that we're terrible at wilderness trivia. We decided that we have that we're terrible at that that we overestimate our abilities against wild animals. Uh basically we've learned that none of us three are equipped to be in the wild.

SPEAKER_02

So we're gonna be whenever we're traveling, keep our phones charged, exactly.

SPEAKER_03

Make sure we have reception and access to the internet at all times.

SPEAKER_04

And in and in your case, make sure that you're with your wife because she'll she has a good chance to I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know if she would have known the the bowl and knot, actually. That one I'm not sure. The other one's the the fire, she definitely would have. She definitely would have the solar still. If she I mean if she knew that, then you're never gonna forget it when you're out in that situation.

SPEAKER_04

Now you might have learned something.

SPEAKER_03

I just gotta hope I have a rock and a cup and a plastic.

SPEAKER_04

Exactly. And now you don't even and now you know what it's name. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Best part is you're not gonna remember what you have to need, what you need items. You're just gonna remember, we need a solar still. What's that again? What do you what's that? I don't know, man.

SPEAKER_02

That's not my job. I just know it's what we need.

SPEAKER_04

All right. Uh sweet. Well, that brings us to an end here. Uh, do you guys have anything else to say?

SPEAKER_02

No, no, that's it. Just uh go go USA. Go USA USA. Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Let's get these aussies asses. Yep. Keep the boot, keep the keep the good vibes rolling. Hopefully, everyone's enjoying the World Cup uh and all the vibes that are coming out of it. All right. With that, appreciate you guys sticking on us uh until the end here. We appreciate the listen. And we will talk to you all later. See ya. See ya. Bye.
