It was uh, you know, the first quarter was scoreless. There was no point scored in the first quarter, and then the eruption. 33-30, final score. Total set at 34 and a half. Um, yeah, it was just an eruption of points. But you know something? There were two rookie quarterbacks in that game. You know, uh Carson Beck, Haynes King. Carson Beck from Georgia, Miami. Haynes King uh made his bones at Georgia Tech, he's the reigning ACC player of the year. They played really well last night, both of those guys. I did not expect it. Well, there's now, again, it's one game, and I hate when people do what I'm about to do, right? But there is something to be said, I believe. When you stayed in college, as long as those two kids stayed in college, and now you come out into the NFL, uh NFL is the highest league in the land, right? But it just seemed like they were more comfortable. Again, they didn't miss a step.

It was almost like they were in their second season. They both played very well. They didn't look like brand new rookies coming off, you know, getting out. Look, the one thing you hear from all rookies is the speed of the game. Yep. Windows. Windows closed faster. They much faster. Gaps are closed. It's just it's a faster-paced game. When you watch college, you can watch it happening, right? Breaking down. Whereas in the NFL, it's like bang, bang, bang. They're on top. They're just the best of the best. That's why I don't know what percentage it is, but what, less than three percent of college players? Yeah, it's not even that. I'm just saying, even get a shot at the NFL. Less than 1% are there after two years.

Oh, let's not even let's just go recently. Let's go within the last 20 years. Okay, but Tom Brady did not start his first year. No, he did not. Pat Mahomes did not start his first year. Let's face it, Tom Brady probably doesn't even get the opportunity without Bledsoe going down. Right. Without Mo Lewis. Yeah. Um Aaron Rodgers sat behind Brett Favre. Multiple years. He's off first ballot. Y'all, Eli Manning sat behind Kurt Warner for 10 or so games. There are a lot of great all-time quarterbacks that sat a year or even two.

Even the guys that did start didn't do well. Peyton Manning's first season was insanely bad. And if his name wasn't Peyton Manning, I don't think he gets another run. Terrible year. Terrible. Terrible. Absolutely terrible.

But there is something to be said. And then you know, you know, you can look at quarterbacks like the Jets, a classic for this. They just draft a quarterback, throw him right into the fire, and he always fails. Good old Sam Darnold. And look how long it took Sam Darnold to kind of he started figuring it out when he was in Minnesota. Sure. Okay. And then all of a sudden it just took off, and now he's a Super Bowl winning quarterback.

I mean, listen, NFL, yes, it's it, you got to be a great athlete, but it's here too. And for quarterbacks, so much of it that goes on up here. If you get just the, you know, uh something's not going your way, and you you just start falling into that hole, and the Jets are the fucking abyss of the NFL. It's a never-ending black hole. It's hard to get out of. All right. And he got pulled out of it. He had the right coach in Minnesota that turned him around, and then a great match when he went to Seattle.

Come on, it's not even up for debate. What do you think the second hardest position to play is? I'm gonna say running back. Okay, I'm glad you said running back. I think the second hardest position to play is cornerback because you have to cover elite athletes, and you gotta do it by going backwards. And and you don't know, they know where they're going, you don't know where they're going. Cornerback, those athletes are insanely good. Insanely good, but running backs get abused. Okay, so I am so running back is third for me. Okay, running back is third. Um I almost said corner, actually, on my side. So you're probably you're probably quarterback, running back, cornerback. Yes. I'm quarterback, cornerback, running back. So same deal. I am so happy to see running backs getting paid. Again, finally. These poor running backs got fucked. For like, what, 15 years? Because think of everything that are asked of running backs. You have to obviously tote the ball 20 to 25 times a game and all the bullshit that that entails.

I mean, I don't know about you, but when I tell somebody what I do for a living, the we get asked all kinds of crazy questions. The one that I've been hit with the most lately is how do you bring analytics into what you do? Yeah, right? And it's and one of the things that I I say, and I'll say it right here on camera sometimes you can get too much information. Absolutely, right? It can it can really hurt the process. We have been so successful doing what we do without all of those analytics. Now, it has helped us because we've been able to kind of pick what we want to use. Sure. But there's so much in analytics where they dive too deep. I mean, I don't need to know what happened 15 years ago when this is what's happening today. It's meaningless. It's meaningless.

You you look at the guy from Detroit. Now, I I don't know if I'm gonna hit a nerve with this. When when they lost to San Francisco in a conference championship game, okay, that head coach, Dan Campbell, should have been fired. He lost them that game. Sure did. And then the argument was, which drove me crazy. Well, he did this all season long. They might not have been here. Okay, whatever. But in this situation, thank you.

And then Jonathan Taylor, I think he owned that title a couple days ago.

Well, a lot of this, like we spoke about some stuff in my office, but even when I um, you know, the first part of this podcast was with JR, we really don't script anything. Yeah, it's it's just natural. There's nothing, I mean you can't see any part of the studio, but there's nothing written down here. We really don't script anything. We want it to be genuine. Yeah. Even if the answer isn't something that we like or want, right? JR and I battle all the time about this. But that's I think that's what good talk is.

My wife cannot understand how fast I can come up with something that's negative. She can't figure it out. The quick wit, yeah. She cannot figure out yeah, and so my wife, I don't know if you're like this too. My wife, whenever she gets into an argument with someone, she's the type of person like an hour later, she's like, I should have said this.
