Hi guys, welcome to an impromptu episode of the Feelworthy Podcast. I know our episodes usually air on Wednesdays, and today's Monday. And I honestly just had a nudge where I'm like, you know what? I feel like someone needs to hear this. So over the weekend, I had a call with a coaching client, and something about the conversation told me, and I kept thinking about it, like all a Saturday and Sunday, and I was like, you know what? Other people need to hear this. I think someone else needs to hear this in the event community. And I'm gonna just share a version of what I talked about with that person. So all client details are extremely confidential. I can just give you a flavor of what the context, the context of the call was about. So this is someone who's been a senior manager for a few years, and they're finding their rhythm, they're hitting their stride, and everything's going well. And then they had a misstep. And these things happen, right? It wasn't even really a misstep. It was just something that wasn't communicated effectively, and it shook their confidence. They were like, oh, I just hit my stride. And now this one thing happens. And I don't want the leaders to look at me a certain way. And they just kept talking. And I could just see and hear this negative self-talk, the second guessing, the like questioning of all of it. Like, am I as good as I thought I was? Like maybe I am an Icarus and I flew too close to the sun. So if you're listening to this and you've had that thought even once, this episode is for sure for you, and I want you to hear everything I'm gonna say. Event pro, you are damn good at what you do. And some of you may have forgotten that. You're moving through your day as if what you do is ordinary, and it's not. It's not simple, it's not basic, it's not elementary. Not everyone can do what you do. Not everyone can think three steps ahead. You have a unique set of skills, not to quote Liam Nielsen, but you can think of how one domino impacts the food and beverage, the attendee, the mobile app, the agenda, and then turn around and talk to a customer or an attendee at the event and say, Hey, how's it going? Who can I how can I help you? You still show up calm, present, and ready, even in those moments where things are changing at a moment's notice. That is not normal. That is a skill. Your brain is constantly solving a puzzle in real time. You are connecting, moving pieces to create a moment that educates, supports, and connects everyone else. And you know what? Here's the part we don't talk about enough. Missteps are going to happen. Miscommunication is going to happen. It's inevitable. Something will fall through, a deadline will be missed, a moment won't go the way you exactly planned. And when it does happen, it can feel personal. It can feel like your entire identity is under attack. And that's because you care. You take pride in your work and your standards are high. But let's reframe this for what it actually is: growth. You're expanding, you are moving to a next level, you are gathering data for things that have yet to happen, but that will prepare your toolkit for when they do happen in the future or when someone else goes through it. You do not become a strong strategic event professional without obstacles, without pressure, without moments to force you to think differently next time. These are growing pains. They are part of the process. And the difference between someone who stays stuck and someone who evolves is not the one that avoids mistakes or gives up when the going gets tough. It's the one that is able to move through them. So if it didn't go perfectly, and just want you to know that it doesn't disqualify you. You're not out of the race. You're just further elevating so that you can become number one in the next one. So take this with you. You are skilled, you are strategic, you are trusted for a reason. One misstep does not define you. It refines you. Let me say that again. One misstep does not define you, it refines you. So take a breath, rest, shake it off, and evaluate how you would improve it next time. Now walk into this week like the leader you are with your head held high. You have a job to do, you have a life to live, and you are more than the work that you do. If today feels hard, come back to this, listen to it again, and just remember you're still her. You are still that girl, and you are worthy today and every day. Hope that was helpful, that was motivating and encouraging, and gets you to have a kick ass, kickstart of your week. Talk soon. Bye.
