How would our lives and our world be if we brought more of what we wish for to them?

In a period of time of so much – in us and around us – what is the role of dreams and fears in our becoming? This is a short reflection on dreams and how they inform us – explicitly and implicitly. And an invitation to reflect: how can we bring more of our wishes and aspirations for the future in our here and now?

Hello and welcome. Welcome to Begin Anywhere. My name is Irina Pashina. And I'm here to hold space. To hold space for all of us where we can begin anywhere. With less script and more presence. Thank you for joining me. Hello and welcome to episode 32 of Begin Anywhere. I realized that I start these episodes quite often with a topic or a focus area. From this one on, I'm choosing to also introduce myself in the hope that some new people and new listeners would connect to who I am, and perhaps it will be a way of also seeing and feeling into my own process of becoming. So they speak through me in different ways. What I quite often bring to this podcast is something that stands out for me in a certain moment. Something that I came across, something that I experienced, something that I heard, or something that I'm working on, and generally it's related to the depths of human experiences and human growth. And growth in the sense of evolution, in the sense of becoming. Sometimes it's related to expansion, sometimes it's related to releasing something, and it's a path. And creating in the moment also means coming prepared and unprepared. Prepared meaning that we are always prepared to show up as who we are and unprepared, unscripted. I do not have a script. That's part of the deal that I made with myself when I started this podcast. Yeah, and so here I am, and there's been so much lately, and a lot of it has been internal, invisible to the outer world, and just going through a period of a lot of processing and just taking things apart that I thought were long handled somehow, and they come up and as if to show me more about myself. And generally I've been in touch with a deep sense of fatigue. I think part of me is mine, definitely. I think part of it is collective as well. This sense of tiredness that's beyond something specific from the day-to-day that caused it. There's a tiredness of carrying something from the past, the tiredness of holding on to something. And I experienced this in in my client work quite a bit as well. And reflection over the last months, it's it's been a lot of emotions that weren't allowed to flow for some reason, for good reasons, or experiences that were trapped somewhere, or realities that no longer are, and yet people still hold on to them as a form of certainty. And there is so much parallel process as always, but there is yeah, there is. I think that's the statement. There is. Something is cooking, I think I have this sense as well. Something is cooking inside many of us, and it's yet to be disclosed even to ourselves. It's a process. And if all of this sounds really abstract, today I have this um visceral sense of the need to bring dreams to this space. And it has become clear to me in the last days and weeks, and that dreams come in so many different shapes and forms. I think we always know that, and yet there are some periods where we are in touch with some very direct dreams as in dreaming while asleep, and also dreams as in aspirations, visions, future states of what we wish for us, for the world. And it's quite interesting that the English language uses the same word for both. And I am picking this up to maybe make a point, or not even make a point, but to bring it here and just have a discussion with myself and hopefully with some of you as well about how dreams inform our being. I know that. And yet the expression into verbal language sometimes is not there for me, and sometimes it doesn't feel necessary for me to use this language. Of what do you dream of? What is your best dream for the future? Sometimes there is hesitation, sometimes there is something in the way, and I notice this in myself too. And I'm bringing it here because I've I'm realizing more and more how significant it is to be connected to your dreams, to your dreams and to your fears and to the orientation of our lives. In some way, if they become true or not, both dreams and scenarios with fear, it's it is relevant and it is irrelevant in some way because they are a point of orientation to me. They are a point of okay, this is possible. Let's go. And as I'm speaking about all of this, I'm just noticing that this level of tiredness is quite felt. I've tried everything to be with it and I still find it challenging. Still find challenging to navigate the acceptance of what is what the wish and want to expand. And there is a certain um impatience impatience around life and awareness of limitations and so there is this almost constant expansion contraction, expansion contraction, and perhaps this is part of the tiring process that's been going on. And I don't think one lives without the other. There is no pure expansion in the world or just pure contraction, even though some periods of time may feel this way. Um yeah, how can we be with everything that is at the moment? How can we be with everything we are in every moment? And how can we allow more of these dreams of ours to be felt, to be felt by us, to be felt by others, and ultimately to be felt in the world in some way or another? Now it's never a perfect science, perfect art, there's no perfection in that, and there's no need for perfection. But how can we bring more of what we wish for? How can it inform more of our being and doing? This is a deep question of inquiry for me. And how keep it close to my notebook and to my pen and pencil and in my heart. I hope it supports you in some way as well. And perhaps it opens new ways of perceiving life. Thank you for listening, and until next time.
