Well, hello everyone. Welcome back to Fangirls of a Certain Age. It is me, Amber, and joined always by the incomparable Miss Becky. Hi, Becky. How are you? Hey, girl. Hey, I'm great, actually, and I'm excited for this episode. This episode is going to be so weird. Um, we're just gonna get right into it because we're doing something really different tonight. Uh we as the fangirl community have been, as the kids say, eating well. We've been getting a lot of announcements, we've been getting a lot of things coming on the pipeline in the next few months and really enjoying the fangirl life. And so we decided that this week's episode is gonna kind of focus. It's gonna serve kind of like as a fangirl 50 sampler, if you will, of some of our favorite things that have been announced that we are looking forward to, that some things we have a lot of information on and we have a lot of thoughts and theories about, and some things we have very little information about, and we still have thoughts and feelings. Um, and so we want to deep dive all of that and share that with our community. So, how does that sound, Becky?
SPEAKER_04I'm so excited. I told Amber we keep like sneaking in more and more fangirl 50s, like I have one this weekend. Nope, now I have two this week. Nope, I have three, but they'll be real quick. So I'm like, let's just do a whole episode where we give you 50 minutes instead of 50 seconds. How about that? As always, ish.
SPEAKER_01Asterisk. We can't be trusted to 50 minutes.
SPEAKER_04We can't be trusted when we fangirl. It's like, you know, five hours have passed, so we had no idea. Um, all right. Well, since this is sort of a an an you know, a hybrid episode, it's not a bonus episode, but it's not a regular episode. Um, we weren't gonna do a fangirl 50 because again, guess what? It's gonna be the whole episode. The whole episode. And Amber, I'm gonna ask you anyway, this one though. What are you on the fangirl scale for fangirling?
SPEAKER_00Just in general, I think I'm pretty high. It doesn't take much have an addictive personality, but I've never had an addictive personality with like vices, I should say. It's more of like, uh, I don't like something I obsess. That's my uh addictive personality. That's where it shines through. So I do tend to try things that if my friends are like, hey, this is something I think you'd really enjoy. I usually do. And when I like it, oh, I fangirl hard. So yeah, I'd say probably a full 10 out of 10 for me. What about you?
SPEAKER_04I'm not sure there's a number to encapsulate the obsessive, compulsive nature of fangirling for me. And if you watch or listen or whatever it is that however you engage with this podcast, I think you know that about both of us. By this point, we have a damn podcast. So whatever that gets you on a scale.
SPEAKER_00That's fair. Yeah. I feel like that already kind of constitutes us pretty high on the fangirl scale as far as just being fangirls. Sometimes it's things that lean more Becky's taste, and sometimes there's things that lean more my taste. And we're gonna break up tonight's episode into four components of things that we're looking forward to. And they may, they may uh be breadcrumbs to maybe potential future episodes. So stay tuned. We may have a follow-up episode in the works. So, Becky, what are we gonna break up this episode into?
SPEAKER_04I would be happy to uh take the people through uh our quasi-letterboxed episode because we have sort of four categories, if you will, that we're gonna uh gonna land on. And so uh the first one that we want to talk about is a Becky thing for sure. Now it's not that Amber doesn't love this, because you know how we are respectful and happy to live and visit each other's fangirl towns if we are not always there together. And this one is giving right now, and that is the Broadway. We have a ton of fun stuff going on in Broadway right now. Um, and it's not surprising because if you are familiar with how Broadway works, after the Tony's, it's sort of like I don't want to say a quiet period, but it's like people are seeing some of those Tony Award-winning people and things if they're still in. But really, it's when things are starting to get going for what's gonna happen for the next season. Um, and the next season can start anywhere sort of in the late fall, but spring is where it really sort of like gets going because that's when you can be in contention for um Tony Awards.
SPEAKER_00But uh um so we just run right through the things just in the past like two weeks, maybe three weeks, we've been getting announcement after announcement after announcement. And Becky and I are getting more and more antsy every week because we're like, how are we going to plan this trip so that we get just the right window of time to hit everything that we are now interested in? Trip to New York. I'm sorry, trip to New York. Um, so yeah, so where do you want to start with that?
SPEAKER_04So we can kind of go in chronological order, my friend. And this was the very first thing. And we mentioned it, I think, on a couple episodes back. I think I said we had to activate to figure out what was going on. Um, and so take it away, my girl. What is the first thing that we heard that we squealed and swooned over?
SPEAKER_00When this announcement happened, legitimately, everyone was sending me all of the announcements just at the same time. And that is that Joe Carey is making his Broadway debut in the show Other Desert Cities. Now, admittedly, I have never heard of this show in my life. Admittedly, I don't know anything about it, and quite frankly, I don't want to know anything about it. If I ever get the opportunity to see this show, I like to go in fresh. Uh maybe like a two-sentence synopsis, I'll take, but I don't want to know anything about the show. I want to experience it in real time. In this show, though, he's not the only big name. I mean, he's got Julia Louis Dreyfus and her Broadway debut as well. And her Broadway debut. And uh Allison Janney, who's royalty. Royalty. Yeah, she's she's total royalty. And I I was just so gobsmacked. I think this is gonna be amazing. And so um, I've already been talking with fangirl Dana and fangirl Kelly was like, what are we gonna do? Like, everyone is on board that as soon as the Joe Kiery announcement happened that he's gonna be on Broadway, that is, of course, my number one priority. And then other announcements came, and I was like, well, now we have other things that we have to try to make this work with.
SPEAKER_04So then what came next, Becky? So then again, we've I think we mentioned this once before. We definitely put it out on the socials already that uh Spring Awakening is coming back to Broadway. Technically, I think we would consider it the third revival or the second revival or the third time that it's been on Broadway. Of course, the first time, the original, um, is just past 20 years ago um that it started. Uh and uh again, I mentioned it before. There's a beautiful documentary on MHBO. So Spring Awakening is coming back, as I as I mentioned. It is the uh third time that it's going to be on Broadway. The second time was the Deaf West production, um, which starred a bunch of really cool people, including on Cameron Manheim. Look her up if you don't know who she is. Um, but this new revival is actually gonna be reimagined. Um, it's going to be uh directed by Dania Tamor, who got herself Tonies already, um, and most recently was a Tony Award winner for The Outsiders, which uh is still on Broadway at this time. So she's actually uh gonna be directing, and then of course, beautiful music and lyrics um by uh Steven Seder and Duncan Sheik. Um shout out our buddy Steven. You know, y'all, Steven Seder, who writes these gorgeous lyrics, is a wonderful human being, truly. And we've said it before, we'll say it again. So any way that we can support him, we want to, but also like the gift is to us.
SPEAKER_00Because we're like, oh yeah, if we if we have to watch another beautiful piece of art and listen to incredible music, I mean, we'll do what we can to support you, Steve. Right? Like, thank you for blessing us. It's tough. I will say really quick, I want to share something uh that Darren Chris said when I heard him speak at uh a session that I was able to attend. And he said, Darren Chris, Tony Award winner, uh, he said something that does remind me of the way that I feel like Steven Seder gives his energy to the world. Uh, Darren Chris said that he is in the service industry because art is a service that should be available to everyone. And I was like, oh standing up for Mr. Chris. And I was like, that is absolutely true. Yeah. And I think that the way that Steven Seder carries himself definitely is in that vein.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm. I it's just, he just has such a beautiful way with people who interact with him. He enjoys interacting with people and he enjoys talking to them. He's on live all the time, as mentioned on TikTok, and just enjoys getting to chat with people and learn about their lives as well, asks questions back to them because he's curious. So it just feels very authentic. Um, and his passion is is contagious, you know. And um, so in any event, all that to say, we are so excited to be able to now incorporate Spring Awakening's revival into the Joe Curie or Bust adventure. Um one of the things that uh I wanted to chat about too that I am fangirling about, and I actually did not know that much about is that Steven Seder is always so brilliantly lovely to um young people uh on his lives. I've mentioned this before. Lots of like, hey, I'm gonna be this in my high school play. Hey, do you have any notes for me? I'm going up for my first Broadway audition, whatever the case may be. And he's always honest and authentic and supportive. And I love that about him. Just a couple nights ago, actually, was the Jimmy Awards. And if you're unfamiliar with the Jimmy Awards, it's basically the Tony's for high schoolers. So, yes, there is a giant, very prestigious award that you can win when you are in high school for your ability to portray a character or to be on stage and all of that. So I knew of it like sort of peripherally. You can actually see the Jimmy Awards account um on TikTok or Instagram will actually post the finalists' performances so you can see anybody's. But the two winners uh this year are Semia Posadas, and she is from Tucson, Arizona, and Jake James. Uh, he's from Musical Theater High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Um, oh my God, is all I have to say. Like, first of all, these people could be on Broadway yesterday. Every one of the finalists, I was like, are you kidding me? It made me question myself and be like, what in the world was I doing in high school? It is quite literally unbelievable. They are, they are beyond. Like, and I'm sure that we'll see them um, you know, as we go along in Broadway. And as your girl does, she went down a rabbit hole and she started looking up more stuff about the Jimmy Awards. Would you like to know some notable winners or finalists? Yes, I should say. Uh so some note some notable finalists. Uh in 2018, Renee Rapp. Oh. Yeah. Uh the winner in 2018 was Andrew Barfeldman, little guy that you might know from Dear Evan Hansen. He took over just just a little tiny show called Little Shop of Horrors. Maybe, maybe you've seen. Okay. Maybe. Most recently on the screen, um, in a very funny role in the Jonas Brothers uh Christmas movie on Disney as a rival store of Nick Jonas. Okay, okay. I do know who he is then. Ava no Blazada, excuse my uh pronunciation if I'm wrong. Um, she's been in Miss Saigon in Hades Town. Casey Likes. You know who Casey Lykes is? Sure have. We'll get back to Casey Lykes in a minute. Yeah. But he was a 2019 finalist. Um, and Ryan McCartan, who was a winner in 2011, um, who has played Fiero um in Wicked. Like, literally, it's like one of those things that I love, love, love about being a fangirl is that you learn something that you had no idea existed and a corner of the universe that is going on and that, you know, is a huge deal, and you had no idea. Yeah. So um, so I'm fangirling all of those. I mean, and also like, how dare you be so confident at 16 and 17 years old?
SPEAKER_00I mean, I feel like if you're gonna be in theater and you're gonna have that type of talent and it's gonna be fostered appropriately by the people around you and your teachers, like that is exactly where you're supposed to bloom. So I think that's great.
SPEAKER_04Well, the the guy that won this year, Jake is his name, um, his acting as he was singing the song, I was like, what the hell? What the actual hell? So, congratulations to the winners, the finalists, or anyone who's ever even been in the Jimmy Awards. I'm gonna find out more too about like how that process works. How, you know, do you get nominated? Do you submit yourself as a teacher? I don't know, but I'm gonna find out more because I'm I'm kind of fascinated by that. Interesting. I have never heard of that. Uh-huh. Like, how did I miss this? So somewhere fangirl Dana is like, Becky, yeah. Right. It's true. So I just mentioned a guy named Casey Lykes. Mm-hmm. Uh, do you remember where Casey Likes might be known in Broadway?
SPEAKER_00No. I don't. I think you told me, but I recognize his name because of another announcement that just came out, which I feel like at this point is Broadway adjacent, but I still think it's under this category 100%. So go. Where is he from?
SPEAKER_04Okay. I am sincerely fascinated by everything about this, okay? And if you want to know about something that is coming that is basically Amber and I smooshed together in one. And like literally, it was like someone was given like a project to make something that would feed Amber and I equally. And they took it and they went, Oh, we got it. Don't worry. This will don't worry. Yeah. Yeah. Um, so by the time you're hearing this, uh, it will have been released already. But on the 1st of July, uh, there is a new concept album being released by again our buddy Steven. Uh so Stephen Sayner and James Bourne uh collaborated on a concept album for a show. So while it is only an album, they intend for it to be a show, and it has been written already as a show. And I'm fascinated by the marketing and everything. In order to sort of get this show to Broadway, they are going to release that album first. Uh, and it's called Murder at the Gates. So uh on July 1st, you can stream it in all the ways and in all the places. And we will be and your apples and all of this stuff. Um, and so here's the other reasons that I am like, whoa, this is so interesting to me. Um, so you might say, How did you hear about Murder at the Gates? Well, this concept album is now filled with a bunch of really important Broadway stars, right? So they've got all their best buds singing these songs as these characters who will be portrayed in the show in order to again get backing and get this show made. And how did we get here, Amber? How did we get to Murder at the Gates?
SPEAKER_00Okay, to be fair, we have been waiting for this project for months, months, months, months, at least, at least since December, because in December we recorded an episode dedicated to our fanheim dumb that Becky and I share. And in that episode, we mentioned that Steven Seder had mentioned, like on his TikTok, that he had a project with Milo. So back in December, we were like, What? What project is that? And we were like, sure, it's gotta be a Spring Awakening revival. He's gonna be in Spring Awakening. That's what we just assumed. And then when the Spring Awakening announcement happened and it was like it's gonna be an open casting call, there's no one cast, we were like, Well, then what is the Milo project? That what you said Milo like six months ago, Steven. We've been waiting, and now we understand where the project is because as Becky said, this is an all-star cast, and Milo Manheim is part of that cast, which we are very excited about. However, it is star-studded, star studded, star-studded. Gait and Madarazzo is gonna be I'm so excited for this. Like, I'm so sorry. Right now, Joe Key is preparing for his Broadway debut in the fall, and Gait and Madarazzo is on a concept album for a show that could potentially be coming to Broadway in the future. And I just find that so wonderful. But that it's not just those two either. Who else makes up this incredible cast, Becky?
SPEAKER_04So obviously we were super excited about Milo, but as we uncovered more, we were like, oh, I'm sorry, what? Uh and so again, if you're trying to get proof of concept for something, stack your deck. And they said, watch us, watch us. So next to Milo, as Amber mentioned, was Gayton, who, if you forgot, is a little guy called Dustin in the Stranger Things uh series. So that is the Joe Kierry connection. Connection, I guess. And then Issa Brionis, who actually is on Broadway, has done quite a few things. She's actually an award winner for Next to Normal, which is an older show. But um, she's gorgeous. And then uh Mason Alexander Park was actually in American Idiot with Milo for Deaf West Productions, which is cool. This one I'm so stinking excited about, and that's Ramin Caramle. If you don't know who that is, he is older than those counterparts that I just spoke of. Um, but he again, Broadway royalty, he has been in every musical, you know, all the big male parts he has played. Jean Valjean in Les Miz, he has uh done the Phantom. He's he's a lot of people's favorite phantom. I saw him, I got Bangl Blessed to see him in Funny Girl with Leah Michelle. Um so yeah, he was Nicki Onstein, Nicki Anstein. Um, and and and the worst part of about it was this I don't know why, but I didn't even realize it till we got to the theater because I was so excited to go see Leah Michelle in Funny Girl. And I was like, I'm sorry, wait, what? Because of course I've always wanted to see him in something. Helen J. Shen, uh, who just finished up in Maybe Happy Endings with your buddy Mr. Darren Chris. Oh, yeah. So um that's very exciting. Oh, I have met her at the stage door. Lovely human. And then we're back to our buddy Casey Lykes. And Casey Lykes is a Broadway boy bander type of guy that people love. But the connection to Amber, I mean, again, the way they just dropped in little things for each of us is hysterical to me. Um, is that he was Marty McFly. That's right.
SPEAKER_00That's right. I completely forgot. I still haven't seen Back to the Future on Broadway, and I really really need to do that. That's a that's a need. That's a need. Going to the West Touring situation.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. But it's it's touring too. Uh yeah, Gaiton's gonna be about to be in the West End. He's going back into uh rent in the West End, actually, by the way.
SPEAKER_00BT dubs. Oh, like Roger Bart and the original Marty McFly are going to the West End again.
SPEAKER_02And I'm like, oh, I really want to go. We have all these trips.
SPEAKER_04We got we got plans, man. We got plans. So we are actually going to possibly talk a little bit more about murder at the gates. Maybe, just maybe at some point in the future. But just so you know, the last thing to wrap it up is that this entire show is based around a murder mystery party. Like mystery. My favorite thing in the world. Like if we had lists of things, it was literally like somebody went and went musical, got that one for Becky. Milo? Milo, yep, that checks both boxes. Stranger Things. Murder mystery party. Mystery. We got Stranger Things. Got it. Got it. You know, like it's ridiculous. It's like it really is ridiculous. Um, my word, I was so excited about how excited that we both were that I totally forgot that Joy Woods is on this dang album too. If you don't know who Joy Woods is, um, she was also in a little show called Little Shop of Hores. Um, but I got to see her in Gypsy. Like again, can you imagine the way that this crosses every freaking thing? It's stupid. It's stupid. Um, yes, she uh played at Louise or Gypsy Rose League, depending on what part of the show you're in, on Broadway with Audra McDonald. So I got to see that. The stupid. That's amazing. We're being fed like crazy. Like so great, so great. And what's so interesting is I had told Amber, gosh, I've never heard of this. Gosh, I hope it works for them. And just today, like literally hours before we got on this podcast, it was announced that Lynn Manuel Miranda's newest project is coming to Broadway in the spring called Warriors, and it was a concept album in 2024. So there's literally proof of concept for this type of thing, which I don't know how I missed that. And Amber and I were just kind of listening to that before uh before we got on here. And I'm like, we're dumb. Like, what are we doing? We need to get on that train because there's way cool people on that album, Warriors is the name of it again. So check it out. Because again, you'll actually be able to go and see that in the spring. So like, what are we gonna do? We're gonna spend a lot of money.
SPEAKER_00That's what we're gonna need to start saving some money. We're gonna big trouble. We're in big trouble when it comes to this New York Broadway trip, and we're gonna have to figure out the timing of it because Joe Kiery's uh is a limited run. We don't know when spring awakening is gonna happen. Um, I also would love to see Stranger Things for a shadow before it goes away at the end of this year. So, I mean, we got to figure this out one way or another. But like Becky said, we are being fed very, very well. And that is why we wanted to talk about our Broadway category. Um, but speaking of New York, I would like to make a little transition into our next category.
SPEAKER_04I'm liking I'm picking up what you're laying down, saying.
SPEAKER_00Thank you. Thank you. Because one of our favorite Marvel characters is making his uh return to the big screen at the end of July. And of course, he is everyone's favorite friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, everyone's favorite New Yorker, uh Peter Parker. Um, and so that is going to be our next uh category is Marvel. Uh, we're not gonna spend too much time on it because, again, there may be an opportunity for some more in-depth conversations about Marvel as a whole. Because if you are a Marvel fangirl, as I am, um, you know that there's a lot to cover. So we don't really want to get into in too deep on this.
SPEAKER_04But and if you've ever heard us before, you know that we are having a Marvel episode. And we're just gonna warn you now it's gonna be off the rails because Yeah, it will be. I'm not a Marvel fangirl. I'm just not gonna be a little bit more. I feel like against Marvel. No, not at all. But I'm not in the MCU as Amber is and my husband and a lot of people in my life. So we again have done a little like practice episode with some Marvel stuff. And let me tell you, someday when we're big and famous, we'll release the lost tapes and people will be The Lost Tapes because we have a couple, we have a couple lost episodes, and that is one of the We do.
SPEAKER_00Um, but we do want to do a Marvel episode, but we want to make sure that we do it justice. And because there's so much to talk about, we really, really want to think about it. We want to bring a guest on. We want to get everyone's questions and things like that. Um, because while I'm a big Marvel fan, I don't know the comics. So I would be coming from a Marvel cinematic universe side of things. Um, so that's kind of what we would be focused on. But all of that to say, I am so excited for the newest installment of Spider-Man, uh, Spider-Man brand new day. And yes, I'm excited for the film. Yes, I think all the trailers look fantastic. I love Tom Holland. I love Zendaya. I'm here for it. But my favorite thing right now is that Tom Holland and Zendaya are on their whole press tour and their whole press junket. And this is really the first time. I mean, yes, they they were on a press junket together on previous films, but I feel like this is the first time that they're like, we are married. Like we're married. And you can just see, like, they are so obsessed with each other. And I just love watching them just interact with each other because it's so sincere, it's so real. It's like anyone that's ever like been like, I don't believe in love, just watch Tom Holland and Zendaya just interact with each other. You'll believe in love again. It's so little things too.
SPEAKER_04It's like the way he guides her hand somewhere, or like uh somewhere she had like a wardrobe malfunction. Yeah, yeah. She had like a wardrobe malfunction somewhere, not like a like a bad, bad one, but like a just something. Yeah. Immediately just turned his body right in front of her. Like just his instincts are that of somebody who cares about that individual deeply. And protect you know, we love a protective king here. You know we love a protective king here. Yeah, and I just gorgeous. I can't. I can't.
SPEAKER_00I love Zendaya. I love Zendaya. Um, and I from the Bay Area. Is she? Yes, ma'am. I don't think I knew that the best ones are. I'll tell you. The two of them, I think, from the very start have always had really incredible chemistry. But I think like because they have such real, genuine love for each other, the MJ and Peter Parker connection has always been so strong. And now, knowing what I know about this movie, I don't think you know what's happening in this movie, Becky, because you have not seen. No, you have not. Oh God, you have not. Oh, Becky has not seen um. I saw the Spider-Man with your favorite Spidey. Toby Maguire. I can't stop. I can't. Somewhere fangirl Thomas is twitching, somewhere fangirl husband Steve is twitching because their favorite things in the world is the Toby Maguire Spider-Man. I'm so happy for you.
SPEAKER_04My family under is like, get out. Can't do it. Like, I get it. Like, I will own this wrong path I have taken in life.
SPEAKER_00Can't, but anyway, no, no, the Tom Holland Spider-Mans, I do like the Andrew Garfield ones, but I do I've said it before. I think Andrew Garfield is a touch too cool to be Peter Parker, but that's all I say. But my favorite Spider-Man is Tom Holland. All of this, all of the Spider-Man movies that Tom Holland has been a part of, I think have been very good. I think of the four, the weakest one is Far From Home. No Way Home is the third one. And that one is crazy. That one's crazy. Are we home yet? No, no. Because the first one's homecoming because he takes place when he's in high school. And the second one is far from home because he's on a trip abroad. And then the third one is no way home. And you have to watch the movie to understand the name of this movie. It's so heartbreaking. I can't even give you the spoiler. I can't. I can't give you the spoiler because it's so big, it's a big spoiler. But the ending of that movie immediately takes you into the stakes and turmoil of this movie, the one that's coming out at the end of July. And that's like the really heartbreaking part where you're just like, I don't know how they're gonna do this, and I I don't know how I'm gonna survive it from an emotional standpoint.
SPEAKER_04So I'm worried, but I'm also where does this sit in the you guys, if you could see how she's looking at me, and maybe we'll post this on social media because if you can see how she's looking at me right now, uh I'm trying to be respectful. I am seriously, and you know me, I'm not much I'm not trying to be a jerk, but like where does this sit in like spoiler, like after he turned to dust and then came back and isn't dust? Years later. Okay, so this is after all of that. Yeah, yeah. And then we we have the uh what is it not Doctor Doom. Oh shit. Doctor Strange.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, no. Are you talking about Doom Doomsday? No, that's right. That's right. Doctor Doom is correct. You're right. That's the name of the character is Doctor Doom.
SPEAKER_04But also he's Iron Man? I'm not sure I understand this whole business, but we'll get into that on the other side.
SPEAKER_00That has still been yet to be explained entirely, but we are to believe it's part of like the multiverse storyline.
SPEAKER_04But so this just because I do like to actually orient myself, this would this Spidey would sit after the events of the last MCU stuff, but probably before the events of the other ending. There'll be some some like Easter eggy dovetailing that will get us into doomsday with it.
SPEAKER_00I'm sure, right? I'm sure, yeah. Yes, correct. Typically, typically, I will not say entirely, but for the most part, the movies as they come out are chronological, but there are certain characters that are not physically in this story that's being told, but then we find out about where they were later. So if they uh uh trying to think like uh Thor Ragnarok has like Thor and um and the Hulk and Loki and all of them, but that's why they're not in Civil War. So in Civil War, you're like Thor. So that's the best Thor. That's what it's the best Thor. That is correct. Um that is correct. Uh so like in Civil War, everyone's like, Where's Thor and the Hulk? And then Ragnarok came out, and you were like, They're in Ragnarok, and it explains where they are. So that kind of thing. But for the most part, it they come out in a chronological time.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Well, I need to orient myself because my boyfriend has decided to pick up and be in these movies, and I've got to, you know, get on board. That's true. Gambit is has been said to be making a return. My ass was in the seat for Deadpool the first day.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. She's a lawyer. You know, actually, Deadpool, both of our boyfriends were in Deadpool. Yes, they were. Yeah, because let me tell you, when Chris Evans made his appearance in Deadpool, spoiler alert, I don't care, it's been years, guys. Like when he made his I lost it, and then I lost it again when I realized what was happening. Like when he showed up, because there was there was rumor that he was gonna be in it. And when he was in it, I was like, oh my God. And then when I realized what was actually happening and that who he was being, I was like, wow, okay. And that made me laugh a lot that he was Johnny Storm and not Cap. That was the best.
SPEAKER_04And I don't understand any of that, but I understand in the fandom that that was that was like huge. You don't even get it. That he was that guy this one time, but then he famously became Cap. And so we backtracked and pretended that he Chris Evans, please like me. I'm so sorry. Uh Johnny's story. Comment. Comment below. Can't even explain it. Where do I start? Comment below because Amber is verklempt at this point. What should I start with as my entrance into the MCU?
SPEAKER_00But you guys, okay, uh yes, I would love to hear people's thoughts on this because it's too overwhelming for me because I'm like, well, you need to watch everything. But at this point, you're talking like 40 films, you're talking TV shows, spin-offs, all of that. And it's like she it's she can't start from the beginning. It's gonna take her a very long time. Although you are very good about consuming media. So if you really were like, I'm gonna latch on to it, you could do it, but it's gonna take you some time.
SPEAKER_04There's not enough movie a night. There's not enough romance. And I do know that romance is enough. There's enough. I do know, but there's not enough. And that is why I have seen Cap One and Two. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But I think that you would stick around for the relationships because the relationships throughout the entire like arc is really, really well done. There's a couple of stinkers in there. My husband The Dark World. WandaVision is a masterpiece. You know, his husband says that he's WandaVision.
SPEAKER_04He thinks I would like that. He says actually, he thinks I would like that. Um but it doesn't matter. You would to love stories. Because you must have like gotten together with my boyfriend and been like, listen, I need her to get in the MCU. So can you hightail your ass into one of these movies really fast and like let's go? And of course, because he's a good friend and he loves you as well, he was like, Got it, I will go. It wasn't like I wanted to be a gambit for like 10 years and then I was supposed to have my own gambit movie, but then I didn't have my own gambit movie because of some things that happened. Uh so that had nothing to do with all you.
SPEAKER_00This she knows about, but she doesn't know who Johnny Storm is. No, no, it doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_04I know my guy. I know. And and the way that he wanted that movie to get made, and he didn't get to get it made. But anyway, he got there. Yeah, and what I do like about this is that here she freaking comes. The romantic of it all. I love the way that, speaking of concept album and proof of concept, that Ryan Reynolds sort of shepherded this whole situation for him and the way that Deadpool came to be, and that the way that he has sort of um set this example and helped Channing along the way to get the Gambit situation off the ground and put him in the you know what I mean, all of those things because he understood his love and need for this character and how important that was to him because of course he had had that same thing for Deadpool. I will say how Deadpool came to be the trials of the fascinating story, yeah, is really is so you know me.
SPEAKER_00See, there's stuff in there for me. Maybe just not the happy part. I was gonna say more of the behind the scenes and the how-to's, but that's why I do think you would like WandaVision. When that show was on, everyone went down rabbit holes because there was so much stuff that you were like, wait, what was that? Wait, what was that? That's an Easter egg, that's a hint, that's a clue. And some of them were legitimate clues, and some of them were totally not. And WandaVision was such Wandavision's a masterpiece and it is a love story and it's like sitcoms over the eras. Yeah, you need to watch Wandavision. For those of you that are listening, I am curious. If we wanted to get Becky like kind of into the Marvel world, knowing that she can't watch literally everything, because it's a lot, what are some things that you would suggest that she could watch that are standalone or that she could watch that she would enjoy because maybe there's a good love story or it's just a lot of fun? Like, what are some suggestions that you would give to Becky for the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Because I'm too overwhelmed.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. If you've listened before, you might know the ones I've seen. I just mentioned a couple, but I've seen I think about four of them, but I'm not gonna mention it because I'm curious if the ones I've seen are ones that people would recommend for me to watch. Because they know me.
SPEAKER_00Fangirl Sam has got to have something to say about this, right? Oh, I'm sure. I'm sure he does. And I also would love to hear Fangirl Thomas weigh in because he's a big Marvel fan. And fangirl Darius. I would love to hear them weigh in, be in that be in our Marvel girlies. Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_04All right, so should we uh off we go? I don't know. I don't know. I was trying to get a good segue in there.
SPEAKER_00Should we uh speaking of stories? Yeah, okay, good. There you go. Speaking of all of our favorite stories and the different genres that get us tied up into new fandoms, we're gonna switch gears to my newest obsession, I would say, over the past six months, and that is books. I am so obsessed with reading lately. And we've talked about this the past couple episodes. I have read a lot of new books. I have fallen in love with a lot of new authors, and I am telling you, if you are somebody who is like, I love the idea of reading, but I'm so overwhelmed with the idea of picking a book to read. There's so many like beautiful covers and so many cool genres. And I'm afraid that I'm gonna pick something I'm gonna hate and then I'm not gonna finish it, and then I'm just gonna give up. I've said this already twice. I'm saying it a third time. This is how much I believe in it. Go the recommendation route. Get a group of people, even if it's just on your TikTok, if it's on your Instagram, whatever, and just be like, send me your favorite recommendations, because this has been what has made me like just tear through books and then pick up the next one. I finished a book this morning and I'm already 75 pages into my next book. Like, I just like that was great. I'm ready to start another one. And I just I love it so much. So I cannot recommend the recommendation route more, especially if you get overwhelmed with picking books. And Becky and I do want to do a book episode. But again, we know that the book community is so big that we want to be able to do it in a way that could be interesting and can be fun. And we think that we're each going to suggest our favorite book or a book that's like maybe kind of encapsulates like our favorite kind of story or something like that to each other so that we can at least um rate and review each other's book. But we want to do a little bit more than that as well. So we're still exploring that, but we thought that for this next segment, we would talk about some of our new favorite books or book series that we are currently into. So Becky, I'm gonna let you start.
SPEAKER_04Kind of like what is that thing you do? Blind date with a book. Kind of like that. It's like it's like we're setting each other up on a blind date with a book. That's exactly what it is. Yeah. See? I am all the things.
SPEAKER_03So yeah.
SPEAKER_04Uh, but also everybody, if you have Rex, drop them down there. You know, I know that our book fangirlies are like they are part of us, and they really are awesome. So if you have some good Rex, uh, if you'd forgotten, she's a romance girl. I don't mind spice. In fact, I welcome it, which we'll be uh talked about in a second. Uh and my girl Amber, I'm pointing to her as if you could see, I'm so sorry. Uh and my girl Amber, she loves her extraordinary things happening to ordinary people. And romancing is fine.
SPEAKER_00Cats, even better. Cats. If there's a cat character, I'm in.
SPEAKER_04Um okay, so you have said many a book, right? And I uh admittedly am not as avid a reader um with regard to consistency. So I love to read, um, and I will devour books, uh, but I go in spurts. So I'll go in like a three, four-month run and I'll read like a bajillion, and then I won't pick a book up again for another eight or nine months. It's just a weird thing. It's always sort of been that way for me. But when I read, I read fast. So um the off-campus show came out what, let's say about a month ago now. Yeah. Yeah. Or so or so. A couple months. Um at most. Yeah, at most. Anyway. There are three sets of books in the off-campus series. Uh, and the first bunch uh follows the ones that you're seeing uh come to life on the television or the uh on Amazon Prime. Uh and then the second bunch is a few years after those folks. And then the third bunch, I'm to understand, from our beautiful fangirl Kelly, will be like sort of the Next gen, if you will, so the kids of some of these other people. Um, and I am now on book seven. Whoa! I didn't realize you were that far. Yep, I sure am, because again, you guys, if you want a beachy, just like easy go-down read, if you liked the show, pick it up. It's it's just a fun frolic. Um uh fangirl Kelly said to me, You need to start at the beginning. I am glad I started at the beginning for sure, but I do think you could pick up after the show because the next season, which is filming right now, will be on uh the third book, kind of Bridgertinesque. So the next season is on the third book. So I think you could actually read the third book, even though some of what happens in uh book two, I have uh, from what I understand is gonna be in it. Um, and then what's interesting is obviously you already sort of know these characters. Like I already know them and I have a picture of them in my head now. I wonder what it would have been like if I didn't know these characters by what they look like on the show and what I would have pictured them as. Uh, I did recommend one of them to Amber because the gentleman in the book is her type. There's a particular scene in the book that I read, not read to her, but sent her an excerpt of, and I was like, Did you write this? Because if you all don't know, Amber is a writer. Uh and so yeah, I was like, Me, I just want to read this particular one. You might find it lovely and nice. But anyway, and I'm enjoying it. It is to me, it is perfectly summer. It is just cotton candy fluff, very fast reads, silliness, nothing, no stakes too high, just you know, fun, fun, fat.
SPEAKER_00Series that could not be more opposite of no stakes, light cotton candy, the complete opposite is of course the dungeon crawler Carl series. Um, it is so silly and stupid. And if you are a gamer, if you are somebody who likes like a post-apocalyptic world, um it's very goofy, but it's very good. It's high stakes, it is a romp. These books are are big and they are thick, and I tear through them pretty quickly. However, I will give this kind of disclaimer, I guess. I think the world is so incredibly dense and so immersive that I need to have palette cleansers in between the books. So, like I finished uh book three a couple weeks ago, and I've literally read like four other books because I just need a break before I get back into book four because it's such an immersive world. And the last time that I read a book like that was Harry Potter, uh, when I was like, you know, in my early 20s, and just again, that very like immersive world where you start reading and everything is there for you. That's how I feel about the Dungeon Crawler Carl series is that everything is just so incredibly detailed and so immersive. So I will give that little disclaimer that if you are a person who can imagine things really well and respond well to good detail, it can be very, very overstimulating. So I definitely need a break.
SPEAKER_04And what was the fun thing that happened this week that we learned about Dungeon Crawler?
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. See, that's eating so well, Dungeon Crawler Carl. Yeah. Uh, we are eating so well. You were absolutely right. It was just announced this week that Seth McFarlane has partnered with the author Matt Dinneman, and they are going to make a series on Peacock. And I am so excited. I'm so, so excited because I think Seth McFarlane is the perfect writerslash creator to partner and to collaborate this with because I think he's got the tone just right. I think he'll do it really well. Um, so I'm very excited for that.
SPEAKER_04I haven't even read that book, and I feel like I know the Farlane has the right tone. Oh, okay, great, perfect. I think I really think that you would hate it. I'll take that recommendation because I know it to be true. Don't re saying it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you would like the idea of the guy being very like macho. He's not afraid of anything. He protects Princess Dona at all costs. And just as a reminder, Princess Dona is a Persian cat. He protects her at all costs. Um, and he does, he has a very good heart too. But he's very like, he's gonna punch and kill and fight, he's gonna survive it. Um, his catchphrase is uh, you will not break me. That's what he constantly says is you will not break me. Um it's pretty, it's hot. Um that does sound very hot, but that's probably where it stops. I love Carl. I do love Carl a lot. He's a great character. Um, that's a great series, but again, I am not even halfway through it yet, but I'm enjoying it a lot. Um, some other books that I just am really have really enjoyed. If you want a my version of a spicy romantic book that like is very me, is of Ink and Alchemy. I was very surprised. This was recommended to me by fangirl Kimberly. Um, she's a good friend of mine who has a wonderful Instagram page, Kim Between the Pages. And her thing is all about romance. So if you want your romance recommendations, Kim Between the Pages on Instagram, she's your girl. I told her what I liked as far as like romance went, and she was like, try this one of Ink and Alchemy, and I couldn't put it down. It takes place in a tattoo parlor. Um, it is a tattooed man in glasses. Uh, the female is modeled after like a Betty Page pinup, and she also is a tattoo artist, and it is a mystery, and so it had everything in it, and it's like a dark romance. I think I that might be the book I'm gonna get for Becky to read. I think that's the one I'm gonna I'm gonna do for you.
SPEAKER_04Well, I've already sent you.
SPEAKER_00I have already sent my and what's it called? No Place to Run by Maya. No Place to Run. That's right. No place to run. That is on my bookshelf. I am waiting until we are closer to the episode so that it is fresh in my brain. I think you'll be fine with it.
SPEAKER_04Great. I love it. It's a little more reality than extraordinary. I can take that.
SPEAKER_00Uh additionally, if you are a mystery fan, as always, The Silent Patient is one of the best mystery books I've ever read. I also just finished a book by Alice Beanie called My Husband's Wife. That book I finished in two days. I couldn't stop. I couldn't stop. It was one of those books where the chapters are like three or four pages, and then you get to the last page in the chapter and you're like, What? What? And then you have to keep reading, or you're not gonna it was such a plot twist that you just need to know. And so I couldn't put it down. And I have a problem with mysteries that do that, and then like they take this weird turn or they don't sync up really well towards the end, and then I feel like oh, that wasn't really super thought out. This one had plot twist after plot twist after plot twist, and it still came together at the end really, really good. So those are some of my favorites, but uh, I will I will be remiss. I'm gonna say one more, one more, and then we can move on to our fourth and final category. If you are a fantasy girly, uh if you're a fan of Akatar, uh Court of Thorns and Roses, if you're a fan of Fourth Wing, uh, if you're in that vein, I think that you would really enjoy the Dire Bound series. I've talked about it before. Uh, it's only two books so far. The third one comes out October of next year. Um, and that is Dyer Bound and Fury Bound. Think um Fourth Wing, but instead of dragons, it's wolves. I think it's done better, in my opinion. Um and I said what she said. I said it. I said it. I love, love, love that series. And I am very particular about my fantasy, but I really, really loved the Dire Bound series, so I highly recommend that. That's by um a writing duo, Sable Sorensen. And that is all I'm going to say about books. Uh for now.
SPEAKER_04Which one, which one has Zaden in it?
SPEAKER_00Zaydan is Fourth Wing.
SPEAKER_04Okay. So I've not read Fourth Wing or Akatar. Uh drop me a line. Should I? I don't know. If you if you know me by now, should I read them? Uh, but I have a lot of people in my life who are like, get your ass to this book, a series. Fourth Wing is the one that uh shouts out to my cousin Bailey. That is the one that she cannot stop talking about because again, I believe they're starting to percolate on either a series or a movie. I can't remember. Sorry, Bailey, sorry. Um, I will have her on when we talk to that about that because I will get texts all day, middle of the night, about who is gonna play each person. There is a whole narrative around it, and she can't stop talking about it. And I'm like, fangirl, I love you.
SPEAKER_00I read the first Fourth Wing in a day and a half. I couldn't put that book down. I do think Fourth Wing is a really, really good book. The second book took me a lot longer to read. It was just a lot more drawn out, and I wasn't as engaged. And I have not started the third one. But the third one's been on my shelf for like since it came out. So I think for me, Fourth Wing just kind of lost my interest. Um, whereas Direbound, I just think that it's done better. So that's just my opinion, of course. Um okay.
SPEAKER_04Uh so we're moving on to the last thing and we've saved the best. The best for the last so uh let's start here in our favorite, favorite place. Our thoughts and opinions reflect that of us only. Only our thoughts and opinions here. We do not represent any entity, company, or in this case, theme park, uh, but ourselves and our theme park. Can you imagine? Wait, stop. If we had a theme park.
SPEAKER_00Oh God, here we go. Well, listen, our theme park would be wildly unhinged and people would love it. It would be crazy.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you could write a dragon, like you just said, or a werewolf in the book area. I don't know what we do for Milo. We're gonna come back. We're coming, we're workshopping that. Lord Almighty.
SPEAKER_00We're workshopping that. We're workshopping our theme park. We'll get back to you. Please. Yep. Just do you have any idea by with baited breath?
SPEAKER_04If you have any ideas for the uh fangirl theme park. Let's get this go function. Slippery slope. Let's get this off the ground. Uh you know. If Dolly has a has a theme park, why can't a fangirl? I mean, takes one to know one, I guess. So right? Okay. But in any speaking of fangirls. Speaking of fangirls, uh I'm gonna let my fangirl take the reins on this one because I have to take a breath. I will be experiencing this fangirl job. She sure will its entirety. Very soon. And I have no idea why I agreed to this.
SPEAKER_00I have literally no idea. It's the middle of summer, but we are in Halloween Horror Nights announcement season. And I cannot be more excited. Now, at the at the moment of this recording, we have had four house announcements. And I just know that the Halloween Horror Night social media is just sitting there rubbing their little Halloween hands together and just waiting to announce the rest of these houses. And yes, I am excited, but I don't even care because I'm just so happy that our season is fast approaching. And we will have a follow-up episode once all of the houses have been announced. Because I would love to talk about all of the houses. I would love to get Becky's opinions about, hey, are you looking forward to this one? Uh, I would love, love, love once all of the houses get announced and we find out like what the other IPs are. I would love to see if me and Becky can agree to watch all of the IPs so that we know what we're up against. Yes. I just dropped this on her right now.
SPEAKER_04What are you even saying right now? I committed to Stranger Things and I did Stranger Things. Look. And what happened? What happened? What happened when the Stranger Things When that Stranger Things house got announced? What was the first text that I gave you? What was it?
SPEAKER_00You said, I swear to God, if they have that clock in the house, and I was like, babe, they're gonna have the clock. There's no way that clock is that clock was in the last Stranger Things house quite a few times. And also going back to December, we did a Stranger Things episode. And what did I say on that episode? I said I would eat a live grasshopper if they did not have a Stranger Things house. I knew that we would be getting a Stranger Things house. So I'm so excited. And you know what that means? Everybody, do you know what a Stranger Things house means? That means we're getting Steve Harrington in a backwards hat.
SPEAKER_04That will allow that. I will allow that. And all you want to get Mr.
SPEAKER_00Carey himself to be my ScarePal TM. Becky. I'm gonna I'm gonna hold your hands via the Zoom when I say this. If Joe Carey is anyone's scare pal, it ain't yours, babe.
SPEAKER_04Do you see what she did there? Do you see how quickly she dropped me? And I am in full support. Full support of that. That is I would be angry if you said anything different. Angry. It's true. You passed the fangirl test.
SPEAKER_01I'll get you another scare pal. I'll get you another scare pal.
SPEAKER_00I told her I'm gonna need two at this point. That's okay. I will get you a different scare pal. One for each arm. Done. I can make that happen. I will I will make sure that that happens. Because just to remind everybody, the reason that we're having this conversation, Becky is coming to visit me in September. And she has agreed to go to Halloween Horror Nights with me and my friends. And we are gonna have the best time. Oh, we're gonna have so much fun. So we've talked about Stranger Things House. I don't want to go into too much detail because again, we are gonna have a Halloween Horror Nights episode once all of the houses have been announced, and I do kind of want to go through and get everyone's opinion. But um the the other thing that I really do want you to watch, because I don't know what else they're going to announce, you have to watch Sinners. I I think you'd be fine with Sinners. I don't think Sinners is a quote scary movie. There's a couple of moments that are, I think it's more thriller than anything. You know what's happening when it's happening, you know what I mean? Um it's let me remind you that a damn clock has kept me awake.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so let's just put that as the baseline for fear. A clock has and when I tell you all out there, listen to me, I'm not being funny. The clock gave me nightmares. The clock.
SPEAKER_00But how does a clock Okay, it's fine. It's fine. Look, I'm not here to judge you because I need you to come with me. What are my requirements? So her requirements are we have to do the mummy.
unknownYep.
SPEAKER_00Uh she needs scare pals, plural, and she needs treats. Yep.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Those are her requirements. And all she said, done done and done. Done done and done. And she said she doesn't want to wait in line. And I will I'll drop money that night. I will, and I don't ever pay for express or anything. I'm a wait-in-line girly with like we're gonna yap, we're gonna play games, we're gonna have a good time in line. Um, but I'll drop the money to do it if so that you can do as many houses because if you have the express pass, that means we're doing all of them. So there's I mean that's just to get your money's worth.
SPEAKER_04I think I I honestly think, and I'm this is not being funny. I actually think, first of all, I am guys, sorry, I'm bougie. I don't like to wait in line. That that maybe you can call it a toxic trade if you want, whatever. But I actually think it would be worse for my nervous system to wait in line and to like this impending anticipation of like this thing in front of me for 45 minutes. I can't my nervous system is gonna need like we're gone, we're done, we're in, we're out.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I don't think that people take into consideration when they get like express pass, or I will say VIP tours in general. Like if you do VIP tour, I don't think people take into consideration that when you wait in line, you kind of are giving your nervous system a break. So you're just kind of waiting in line, whatever, and then the adrenaline has time to build up as you're like loading to get on and whatever. But when you go from one house to the next, you don't really give your nervous system a chance to reset. And so I feel like you get exhausted faster. Um, and so if we did express pass, I feel like we could pace ourselves, right? Where it's like, okay, we in and out, you're quick, Ricky done, we'll go get a snack. That gives our our our system a chance to reset. But in the event that it's like, you know, if we ever found ourselves in the event where we like in a VIP tour or if we were like, let's just get it over with and just knock them out, I think you would find yourself so much more uh riled up because your nervous system would never have a chance to reset. That's just my opinion and observation based off of like past experiences. Pro tips from Amber. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so I've just throwing it out there. Could be helpful, could not. What are you wearing? I'm wearing a a shirt of it's a cat dressed like a witch with a potion that says go away potion.
SPEAKER_04It is not July yet. Number one.
SPEAKER_01We are in Halloween Horror Night season. We are here. Announcement season. I need more announcements. Okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Also, I hadn't I didn't know anything about the speculation map. I didn't know that was a good thing. This is adorable. I'm gonna give you that one.
SPEAKER_00I didn't know. So Becky uh stumbled across someone who had uh a speculation map, but if you're not familiar with the speculation map, it's completely fan-made, completely fan-based, based off of God knows what people are posting on the internet. I don't even know where people get this information half the time. Um, but it's a map of people kind of guessing what these houses are going to be before they're announced. So there's all sorts of ideas and rumors and things like that. Again, I like to be surprised. So I don't tend to watch the speculation maps because I'm like, I kind of I like to be surprised when the announcement happens, but they are very interesting when people go down like the rabbit hole of like the logistics and the schematics and the reasonings for like this is why this house has to be this particular IP or this particular story or whatever. So it's always very interesting to kind of hear people's explanations and everything. Uh, but Becky found one the other day, just kind of like stumbled over one on TikTok and was like, Amper, look, this person has a speculation map.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, Oh, sweet Becky, let me explain what a speculation map is.
SPEAKER_04I didn't know. I didn't know. But I did see the clock. I did see a clock, and that irritated me. Yeah. Do you think they'll let me take a picture with the clock? Like they'll stop the whole house and just let me take a picture at the fucking clock. No, no, they won't.
SPEAKER_02No, they won't allow you to do that.
SPEAKER_00There was one time a friend of mine had made a set piece in one of the houses, like, literally built it themselves. And it was a huge set piece. And I was so proud. I mean, this was years ago. I was still very new to the horror night scene. And I was like, I'm gonna get a picture of that set piece because it's so cool. And I went in, and when I got to that part, I went to take my phone out. The phone was simply out of my pocket and in my hand. Oh my gosh, the team member was on me so fast. They were like, no photos in the house, please. And I was like, oh, I didn't know that they weren't allowed back then. Um, I mean back then I didn't know they were they weren't allowed. I definitely know it now. But so no, they're very strict. But I picked up Apparently in Hollywood, they're not as strict. Yeah, last year I saw a lot of people like taking video in houses and stuff like that. And I was like, Wheel would never fly in Orlando. And they're like, they didn't seem to care. And I was like, oh, okay. Because I thought I was like, you guys are being so naughty. But interesting. But yeah, we'll definitely go in more depth once we get more announcements. So again, stay tuned for uh some upcoming horror nights. Yeah. Good.
SPEAKER_04I mean, and as we she's so excited, you guys, and I love this for her. I love it for her. It makes me so incredibly happy to see her happy. I can't even tell you. Uh, even if I am wrecked. But uh have so much fun, I promise. I I have no doubt. Here's here's the real. I have no doubt that I'll have fun. Amber, you know, I here's another quick fangirl. I fangirl over Amber's friends hard. Like the stories I hear, the people I see on her Instagrams, I am constantly sending her, you know, some sort of comment that's like, protect that man at all costs. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, she has the most incredible friends that really have taken me on and this lunatic on uh as well, and I appreciate it, and I fangirl hard after them. Uh so all of the friends that I can't wait to get uh up to some tomfoolery and shenanigans with when I get it.
SPEAKER_00They'll protect you, they'll protect you.
SPEAKER_04Well, they're going to, period. Like that's what's happening. They have no choice. They have to. Um geez. So as we wrap up, Amber, like I very much have liked this episode and all the kind of just random sort of uh things that we've talked about. Uh we do have some returning favorites. I think I might have mentioned this in the previous episode, sorry. The certain age part, the brain falls out of your head, right? Which is to say that like we've got Dancing with the Stars coming back, and there's some stuff going on there. Speaking of Broadway, your buddy Mark Ballis is uh coming back into Chicago, your favorite.
SPEAKER_00Uh oh, I didn't know he's coming back. Oh just for very very big.
SPEAKER_04Very limited. It's a small window. Okay. Yeah, sorry, sorry. Also, guys, I think I don't think we're your girls for this, and so I do apologize. But you can't help but get swept up in World Cup fever. Like, you can't help but be excited for people who are so excited, fangirling their own teams. I I just don't follow it, but when I see everyone like getting so excited in the streets and whatnot, you can't help but get like so excited by that.
SPEAKER_00I went to that one game with my best friend Andrew, and I had a blast. I was watching Jeopardy the other night, and there was a soccer category on, and when there was a visual clue, and they showed this Orlando Pride soccer player, and you know, Ken Jennings is reading the clue, and I go, That's Marta! That's Marta! And then when Ken finished and like nobody knew the answer, Ken literally went, That's Marta, and I said, That's what I said!
SPEAKER_01Like my husband recorded it and I said it to Andrew, and I was like, Can you believe? And he goes, I'm so proud of you. I said, No, you're not having the proper reaction.
SPEAKER_00I just got a Jeopardy clue right about soccer. Like, that's a big deal. So, I mean, that just goes to show how much fun I had on that one game. I mean, maybe one day we'll do a soccer episode. We do have a couple people in our circle that are big soccer fans that can kind of lead us. That's true.
SPEAKER_04I'm here for You know what I'm gonna say, right? I think so. The cute boys. Yeah. Or men, as it were. Uh, but in any event, I just want to recognize our uh sisters and brothers in arms over there doing the Lord's work, uh, fangirling over their particular countries because I think that's a community again that it fangirl community brings, and there's a lot of community going on. There's communities between, you know, it's bridging some gaps, and you know, countries are making friends. I I enjoy. I enjoy all of that. Yeah, I really, really do. Obviously, we did oh, we didn't even say this. We'll we'll we'll just quickly. The traitors!
SPEAKER_00The traitors had an announcement too. Yep, traitors are coming back and they're doing their season with civilians.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we've got some fan favorites for sure. Uh so uh before we go though, Amber, of course, we would never deign to end a fangirl 50 episode without sharing any information on uh our nephew. Our godson godson, that's good. Uh uh sharing some info on on our our our buddy Milo. Of course, he's in Spain, he's filming uh, which just began, uh filming uh Tangled again, the insufferability, is that a word? Uh that will be happening between you, the audience, and the two of us. You have no idea. Like we're gonna earspam you. It's gonna be bad. Welcome.
SPEAKER_00As soon as um set photos come out, forget it. Forget it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, right? It's over. Um, but his mom was there, which was cool. Um went and saw him uh and had her uh a lovely fun you know time around Europe and uh the pictures, boy, he's tan. Spain looks good on the boy. Spain looks good on the boy.
SPEAKER_00I'm like respectfully, he's very tan. Like, whoo! Goodness gracious.
SPEAKER_04It just he fits, it fits, you know what I mean? Like it really does. Um so uh, you know, as always, we never forget our godson nephew, baby girl. I don't know, baby girl. I don't know what that actually means, guys.
SPEAKER_00I really don't. I love it. I love it when someone is deemed baby girl. It makes my heart so happy. Pedro Pascal is baby girl, Joe Carey is J Ho. So it means that they are that they're just safe and sweet and innocent and just joyous and like whatever. Yeah, Milo is definitely baby girl for sure. Oh, for sure. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Sorry, I I got I have to, you know, be schooled because you are younger than me. So you're showing these things. All right, as always, if you uh would be so kind as to like and follow this circus uh that is the two of us, uh called Fangirls of Certain Age podcast, that would be great. Uh if you want to come back to the circus more often, come to the Instagrams and the TikToks, Fangirls of a Certain Age, on both of those platforms. If you just get a wild hair in your head and you gotta take to the emails, come on down, fangirls of certain age at gmail.com. Uh and uh as always, you know, also just DM us if there's something that you want to say. We're pretty active in the socials and we enjoy talking to everybody. We love a community, as you know.
SPEAKER_00So if there's a fandom or something that you are really into that you are like, hey, have you seen this? Have you heard of this? We might check it out. Or if we're like, hey, we have checked it out and we don't really know anything about it, maybe we'll bring on a guest or something like that. We love to learn new things and we love to share in communities. So if you have an idea of a topic that you would love to for us to cover, so feel free to be like, ladies, what are you doing with your lives?
SPEAKER_04Why are you not on this beat? Because every once in a while we have a blind spot, can't help it. It just happens sometimes.
SPEAKER_00I will say this. We have had somebody ask for Star Wars before. So I'm gonna go ahead and talk about this really quickly. Becky, I believe, is in the same camp as me. I am not a Star Wars fan. I have seen all of the Star Wars movies. I have seen The Mandalorian, and I love The Mandalorian, but I do not consider myself a Star Wars fan. I do think that we should cover it because it is a huge fandom, but we would we want to do it in a respectful way and we want to bring on a guest so that they can speak from the fangirl community of Star Wars. So maybe that will come one day, but that is why we have not yet done Star Wars. Somebody had asked about that and I just wanted to say that. No, that's fair, for sure.
SPEAKER_04Well, my lovely. I love you so much, and I love Milo Manheim, Mr. Spanish King over there having the time of his life. Having the tan of his life.
SPEAKER_02Tip your waitress. She'll be here all day. Sorry. Oh, oh my god. All right, I love you. I love Milo. Bye, everybody. Bye, Mm.
