Tonight, we're talking about something that cuts deep: religious and spiritual trauma.

You might have been taught that God punishes. That your body is sinful. That questioning is evil. That shame is salvation.

You might have been told that abuse is God's will. That you deserved it. That you should forgive and forget.

Today, we're naming that. And we're talking about reclaiming spirituality on your own terms.

Finding A Starting Point

SPEAKER_05

You don't know where to start.

Schedule Changes And Guest Plans

SPEAKER_00

Hello, welcome to Terra to Triumph.

SPEAKER_03

I am your creator and host of Terra to Triumph, Alfonso Post. And if you will forgive me for fixing my glasses, I am here to talk to you about childhood trauma and the different aspects of such. I have a couple of announcements I would like to go over with you before we start the show. We have added a new time slot to our show, okay? So we will be going on on Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. I mean 9:30 p.m. to keep in line with our other two shows, Tuesdays and Saturday shows. So we need to inform you all that if you look up at the top of the screen, we're giving you the information there. We have added a new time slot to our show. Wednesdays at 9 30 p.m. We will be broadcasting our pre-recorded shows. So now you will not have an opportunity to miss out. Also, we're going up from 30 minutes to an hour because we have too much information to pack in to 30 minutes and we couldn't do it. So we're going back to an hour. So it would behoove all of you. I would ask you to please, please, please amend your schedules so you can be a part of our community during these times during the week. Also, we would like to also let you know that we are going to start having guest hosts on the show. Guests. I should just say guests. We will start that. We're looking to start that pretty soon. We have to get our scheduling together. And I have been talking to several people who would like to be on the platform to discuss their aspects of trauma and how it deals with how they interact with it. I'm talking, I'm not just talking to other survivors, I'm also talking to therapists and psychiatrists to give a professional opinion on the trauma and how it deals with the human psyche and how we can cope in real life, you know, everyday situations, what techniques and what methods would help. So I'm very excited about that, y'all. I'm giving y'all, I told y'all I was gonna come and give y'all information. I'm not playing with that. We will still have the regular content that we provide, but now we're just adding guests. We're gonna start having guests on the show, and uh, I'm excited. I'm excited to bring that information to you. As far as my co-host Storm, because of our schedules, we are still trying to figure out and work away around having both of us on the show at the same time. So if you could uh be patient with us while we try to rectify that, I'd appreciate that. And I thank you for your support. Speaking

Where To Subscribe And Support

SPEAKER_03

of support, you can subscribe on TikTok, on our TikTok, well, not TikTok, I'm sorry, on our YouTube channel. That's tear to Triumph Live, all one word, all uppercase. So go there, you can subscribe, you can like, and check out our videos. Also on our podcast main hosting platform is Buzz Sprout. That's B-U-Z-Z S-P-R-O-U-T.com. You can look up there at the Triumph there, and you can subscribe there. The subscription there is only ten dollars a month. YouTube is free. But now on Buzz Sprout, you only get certain content which will not be privy to YouTube. So if you just subscribe to YouTube, you'll be missing out on a lot of content. The guests that we're having, they won't be on YouTube unless we monetize YouTube to add subscribers. But right now it's only on our audio podcast on Buzzsprout. So if you subscribe to Buzz Sprout, you can catch the audio version of our guests and our interviews there. But you won't be able to catch that on YouTube. So it would for everybody, I I really suggest to head on over to Buzz Sprout and check that box to subscribe. It's real simple, it's cheap, ten dollars a month, and that goes to help support this podcast and keep the conversations going. Okay, now we're gonna get into our topic here. I want to uh let you all know that tonight, well, right now I'm rolling solo. Um I wish my co-hosts all the best, but this will be a pre-recorded show because my time schedule and working conflicts with the times that we air, so I have to do a workaround. And I'm still talking to Storm. If you were privy to our last show, I asked Storm a question on the show. It was impromptu, but I did think about this before the show happened. And if you notice that I'm waiting on Storm's answer, that might be a big up for you guys. If you go on over and check out that last episode, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Naming Religious And Spiritual Trauma

SPEAKER_03

But today we're talking about something that cuts deep. We're talking about religious and spiritual trauma, okay? You might have been taught that God punishes, that your body is sinful, or that questioning is evil.

SPEAKER_00

You might have been taught that shame is salvation.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, you might have been told that abuse is God's will, that your body is sinful. That you deserved it even, or that you should forgive and forget. Today we're naming that, and we're talking about reclaiming spirituality on our own terms, okay? So when we dig into it, religious and spiritual trauma happens when faith is weaponized, when spirituality is used to control shame or harm. And we've seen that happen uh mainly in the Roman Catholic Church, where priests harm little boys in the name of faith, and they use that power over these youth. And while I don't believe that all of them do that, I know some of them have, because I have a friend, and I'm not going to mention any names, but this friend was accosted when we were growing up in a Catholic church. So we know these things happen, but that is a very prominent example of religion used in an abusive form. It's different from other forms of abuse because it uses uh sacred, it uses divinity against you. It uses God. Holiness is holiness, it uses faith, it uses the very thing that's supposed to bring comfort and meaning to your life.

SPEAKER_00

So bear with me, y'all. This is this is uh this show, this show, this show is deep.

SPEAKER_03

And I dedicate this show to everyone who has suffered religious trauma in this regard. Shame-based

Shame And Fear As Control

SPEAKER_03

teachings teach that your body is sinful, that your sexuality is evil, that your desires are wrong, that your thoughts are impure, that you are inherently bad, and you need to be punished to be saved. Now, these are the things, the wrong things they teach you, okay? So the control through fear is that when you're told that God is watching everything you do, you're told to go to hell if you disobey. You're told God will punish you. You're told bad things will happen because you've sinned. You're told you deserve suffering because of the nature of your sin that's inherently in you. And you're told obedience is the only path to safety.

SPEAKER_00

You can see how that control would play in a detriment of way.

SPEAKER_03

When people want to control a mass, they use the divinity, the divine, to do so. You've heard this war over in Israel, even. No, I'm not gonna say people, I will be specific about this. Donald Trump has said this is a holy war. There's not a holy bone in this man's body. He held the Bible upside down like he was reading it. He wanted to put his name in the bottom. Okay, a whole bunch of other stuff with that. But the point is a form of control, because they know people, how people react when they say God said this. And if God said it, we have to do that. That's that's what they're banking on. So they make up statements and say stuff like, this is a holy war.

SPEAKER_00

There's nothing holy about it, it's an unholy war.

SPEAKER_03

That's what it is. But I digress, I want to stick with the show, but that's an example of control. I just want to show that to you. It's a prevalent in the moment to in up-to-date right now example of control. Okay, spiritual abuse is when a religious leader uses their power to control you. Didn't I just say that?

SPEAKER_00

So that's control and spiritual abuse.

SPEAKER_03

They're using our Lord and Savior, they're using the Heavenly Father to say they told them to do these wicked things, and that we should follow suit because they're in positions of power to tell us these things. Okay, a religious leader sexually abuses you. That's something I mentioned earlier, and that's that just it just gives me cold chills every time I I even think about that because I think of my friend and the abuse he suffered under the hands of the clergy and the church and the school we used to go to. It really infuriates me. But they use their position and power and God to do these things. A religious leader tells you to stay silent. That sounds familiar, doesn't it? To us survivors of childhood abuse, they don't have to be a religious leader to say that. I mean, we had abuse from parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, distant relatives, people we don't know. All of them say if you tell somebody, XYZ I happen, or I'll do XYZ. And they force us to be in a state of fear, constant state of fear, and never to tell the truth about what happened.

SPEAKER_00

So a religious leader says, This abuse is God's will.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, God, God told me that He wanted you to have sex with me. It's God's will because you're a sinner, you deserve this abuse. I don't know if anybody heard that statement being said or something along those lines, but that's awful. But I'm sure it's happened. It might not happen to a full-fledged adult because obviously full-fledged adults are mature enough to realize that's not a right statement to make. That's that's totally out of line, but they will tell that to children.

SPEAKER_00

Are y'all hearing me?

SPEAKER_03

Okay, children don't have the mental capacity to say no or that's wrong if they haven't been taught. And you don't know they're going after kids like in early grade school, so you gotta keep it up and gotta be mindful. This is not just happening in the Roman Catholic Church, people. This is happening in every church out here. Some form of abuse is happening in just about every church out here. So you have to be on your on your uh P's and Q's. Excuse me. You have to be very diligent, hyper-vigilant, even about your children.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, a religious leader uses scripture to justify harm. This is a holy war.

SPEAKER_03

The crusades were founded on scripture and saying it's holy that they go and kill people who didn't know or weren't practicing Christianity as they would have it be in practice. This is Catholics back in the day, by the way, Templars and all that stuff.

SPEAKER_00

So if you know your history, you know how they were very malicious and how they used religion to subvert and subjugate people, and it's happening today under the regime of our president.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, religious leaders isolate you from the outside world. Wow, that part right there. That part right there. Okay, where were we getting all of our non-propaganda information from? If you recall a few years ago, we were getting all our information from other countries live and direct through TikTok. So our government deemed TikTok to be a terrorist threat, saying that they were stealing Americans' information, which they were not, of course. But that was deployed to keep the lid on what America was doing abroad. We're not supposed to know that. We're supposed to be dumb and silent and just doing the will of the government when the government is supposed to be doing the will of the people. Okay. We're talking about religion, but you see how it plays into our government, our politics, our politics here. Okay. So we they tried to isolate us from the outside world. They don't want us to know what's going on in other parts of the world, even though people are crying out blood, sweat, and tears, murder, mutilation, rape is happening in their countries, but nobody wants to admit that. And they just want to put a blindfold on us as the people, claiming that they're a religious leader. Okay. But if you think more so, if they want to keep you isolated from the outside world, uh the Amish people are on that level with they deal with the outside world, but they keep their people from it. They do not delve in technology or anything like that. And if they do, they're stepping across the boundary of what they traditionally did because they all have not been down that path. Also, when you have communes who are religious sex, sex, their community of people worshiping God in their own way, keep you on the commune's property to prevent you from dealing with outside influences. Cults. You remember back in the day, I'm not going to mention the name, but there was a man who led a cult that killed all its members with cyanide, had all its members take cyanide because the government was about to infiltrate their commune, and he had them kill themselves. So this is the detriment in how far it can go. Not to say that things happen on a smaller scale, they do happen on a smaller scale and not as publicly known, but these things do happen. Using

Scripture Twisted To Excuse Abuse

SPEAKER_03

faith to justify the abuse is like saying God says you have to obey your appearance no matter what. So scripture does tell you to honor your mother and father, but honoring your mother and father doesn't necessarily mean that you have to stay in an abusive household. You can leave the household, you can get help to help you get out of the household, you can separate yourself from them and still honor them as your biological parents because they obviously could have aborted you, but they still chose to keep you alive. And for that fact, they deserve that honor. Everything else, though, however, that's subject. So you could separate yourself and still say, you know, those are my parents. That's not going to change. I don't like what they did, but I'm not. Gonna curse them, you know. I might feel a certain way about them, which I probably do. I know I do feel a certain way about my parents, especially my mother, but you know, I'm not gonna say anything bad or derogative out of the way, you know, regarding them because they could have aborted me. I could have not been here today to give you this information. So you can honor them without suffering the abuse or continue to suffer the abuse. So they tell you you have to honor them no matter what, at all costs. That's not true. Spare the rods for the child, justifying physical abuse. Okay, physical abuse, I do condone corporal punishment, but it depends on to what extent. Because when you talk about spare the rods for the child, there's a uh a way to deal with those things. There's not tying them up and whipping them, you know, until they bleed or or waking them up, beating them out they sleep, or using your fists to beat on them. You you can chastise your children in a proper way without it being abuse, okay? But some people take it too far and say, oh, this is how I was raised. But do you set understand that's generational abuse, okay? Because you learn that from your parents, and now you're passing it on to your children, who then will say, okay, well, that's how I was raised, so now it's okay. Okay, it's not. So God says wives must submit to their husbands, just to find domestic violence. So if a person uses that quote, that scripture, submit to your husbands, well, you know, husbands are supposed to submit to their wives too. So if that's the case, then is domestic violence approved on both sides. But you miss what the scripture is saying. It's saying submit to your husbands in leadership. That's what it's talking about. Submit to your husbands. It means don't go out and do what you want to do at all times. But check with your husband and see, you know, what where he's leading you to, and make sure that you're on the same page. That's what it's talking about. It's not talking about my husband beat my behind, gave me a black eye, and I'm supposed to submit to my husband, so that's okay. That's not what that means.

SPEAKER_00

So you can see how scriptures are being askewed so that the evil can continue.

SPEAKER_03

This is God's plan for you. Justifying abuse, you know. God will forgive them, so you have to forcing you to forgive your abuser.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna give you, oh, before I give you this, it says your suffering brings you closer to God, romanticizing the abuse, like, yes, I got this abuse, I'm one step closer to God. No, no, no, no.

SPEAKER_00

And what I was about to say is that along the lines of the forgiveness part, there's a scripture that says, be angry, but do not sin.

SPEAKER_03

Well, if you're angry at somebody, and God told, well, Christ told us that even if a brother says to his brother Rakha, he's in danger of hell fire, if you're cussing your brother out, right? So in your mind, with the eyes in your mind, if you could look at something and you could sin in your mind, then shouldn't the anger be sin if you're mad about the abuse? So forgiving them will tell you to remove that, right? So you can see that's wrong. Okay, we're gonna move on. Almost halfway

Purity Culture And Body Shame

SPEAKER_03

there, y'all. You're taught that your worth comes from your virginity. Whoa. Okay, purity culture, your worth is coming from you're better because you're a virgin. Doesn't that take sexual abuse out of the equation? Because if you sexually abuse something and you're using God to justify it, and you're saying purity, then you're claiming yourself to be this pure vessel, and you're not defiling a person if you have sex with them. You can see how that's messed up, right? No, it's not supposed to be that. Purity doesn't come from your virginity. You could be a virgin and go straight to hell, okay?

SPEAKER_00

Purity comes from God.

SPEAKER_03

Not nothing man says, nothing man can do can cause you to be purified, except for God. If God says you're purified, you're purified. Has God told you that? Wow. You're taught that sex is dirty.

SPEAKER_00

If sex is dirty, why did God create sex? It's how we use it that makes it that way.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, we have to really start paying attention, folks. And this is why I tell everybody don't just rely on the pastor or the preacher or the minister, read the Bible for yourselves. Because then you'll start to see all this stuff, and you'll know when somebody talks to you if it's out of the way, if it's not what it's supposed to be. You know what I'm saying? So we have to really get into a position of we have to get into a position of knowledge for ourselves. We have to start, we have to start realizing that not what everybody says is fruitful for us. Another purity culture thing is we're taught that our body is shameful. Your body is shameful. There's a scripture in the Bible that debunks this, and it says, Whatever I created, don't you call impure? And you could use another strip scripture to corroborate that one. You go back to Genesis and it said, God created us in his image. So if he created us in his image, is he impure? You but you wouldn't know that if you didn't know scripture, you wouldn't know that if you didn't read a Bible. So we're taught that desire is sinful. God made desire for us to be attracted to our significant other. Why in the world would desire be sinful?

SPEAKER_00

Desire is not sinful. Lust can be sinful. Lust can be very sinful. I don't know if you guys know, but there are demons that practice solely on lust. For men's thoughts or women's thoughts. We're responsible. Okay. For the ladies out here who are watching.

SPEAKER_03

I just want to iterate to you that what you do, while it is your decision, you need to have a moral compass about what you attract.

SPEAKER_00

I'm just saying.

SPEAKER_03

You don't want to attract men. There's only one in your body. Please stop wearing the leggings. Stop wearing all this other stuff. If you're going to wear leggings, wear something to cover up your bottom. Wear a skirt, something to that extent while you wear the leggings. But don't go wearing the leggings. They're showing all God gave you. You're definitely going to attract a certain crowd. But you don't see that. You're thinking it's something wrong with them, but it's something wrong with you, too, if you're wearing it. You might as well go outside wearing nothing, if that's the case. And you know what? I've seen some of you come really close to that. Like it's my everyday average wear. And it's revealing just about everything. So you're not responsible for their thoughts, but you indirectly contribute to them. That's for sure. And it's vice versa with men too. You know, we summertime, we take off our shirts, showing our chests and our abs and all that kind of stuff. Some of us, God, I hate this fact. But some men wear their pants sagging and they show the top crack of their behinds. They think that's cute for women to see that. But it gives the wrong kind of signal. You know what I'm saying? I keep telling people that. They don't want to understand it. But you're you're really telegraphing that you're available for other men. Okay. Women do are attracted to men's behinds. They they have said it in the past, they they like a man with a nice backside. And there's nothing wrong with that. But it's wrong when you start subjecting people to see how you're made. And that's not for everybody to see. True enough, God created Adam and Eve without clothes. But that was only between God and them before sin entered the world. But now sin is here. And it's actually a law not to be too revealing, or you can get a CSC felony. So careful, be mindful about what you do. Because it's not just detrimental to other people, it's detrimental to yourself and how you perceive yourself. Are you worthy of finding a man who really cares about you, who really wants you for who you are and not your body? Because if you present your body and you don't present anything else, you're attracting the wrong crowd. Okay, just wanted to say that. You're taught

Sex Shame And Identity Policing

SPEAKER_03

that if you're assaulted, you're damaged. Okay, sister, I'm gonna use an example. I'm just making up names here, so don't take this to heart. Sister Julie got raped, goes to church, and the pastor or father in church, or preacher, whatever, minister, says, Oh, hey, you got raped, now you damaged.

SPEAKER_00

Huh? Huh?

SPEAKER_02

Huh? Is that what God said? I don't I don't remember reading that anywhere in the Bible.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so these are things that people will use against you to control, to manipulate. So you have to be very, very vigilant about your awareness about the Bible. So homophobia and transphobia. Okay, here we go. It's getting it's getting touchy here because uh, you know, got people who say they're one thing when they were created to be another thing. But here we go. We have to go through the rabbit hole. I told y'all 100% truth, transparency on this show, and I'm gonna provide that. So religious homophobia and transphobia. You're told your sexuality is a sin. Okay. What came first, the chicken or the egg? Did sex come first? Or did the body come first? Because according to the Bible, the body came first. So if the body came first, then it wasn't sex that came first. Sex was created for man to procreate. So having a sexual desire is not bad. But what makes it bad is that God created a man and a woman to copulate. They were designed for each other for that reason. I'm talking Bible. If y'all get mad at me, that's the one thing, but I'm just saying, I'm just stating what's in the Bible. Y'all, y'all can get mad if you want to. Get mad at the Bible. Don't get mad at me. I'm just I'm just saying, God created man, then he created a woman for a man, because he said he needed a help me. And so he made woman to be that help me. But he designed her in such a way that they could produce children, which is why he wanted them to copulate. Okay. So if you notice also in the Bible that when God saw homosexuality, he destroyed it. Sodom and Gomorrah is the greatest testament to that. If you don't know the story about Sodom and Gomorrah, go pick up your Bible and read it. Okay, he destroyed cities with raining fire from the heavens because they were homosexual.

SPEAKER_02

Not only that, they tried to have sex with an angel. They were so far gone.

SPEAKER_03

This is what I'm saying. These things we are taught is supposed to be normal. But we want to still have God in our lives. But at the same time, we don't want to abide by the God, the rules that God gave us. So we said we need God to be put in this box so we don't have to acknowledge the things that God wants us to do. We'll acknowledge some stuff, but not all stuff. God don't work that way. God is, I'm all in or all out. If you either for me or you not. Scripture said, I hate a lukewarm person. You straddle in the fence. If you hot, you're you you on point, you you align with me, you everything, you hot, cool. If you cold, you against me, I could use either one, both of them. I is something I could work with. But somebody who's straddling the fence, I can't trust that. That's what it's saying. So when we get to a point where we start started subjugating God's word for our own, it becomes a very big problem. So you have desires, you're supposed to have desires, you're supposed to have wants, and you're supposed to be able to fulfill your sexual desires. Hopefully, with a wife, the Bible even says that. It says, for those who can marry, do you understand what it's saying right there? That means if you have a heart to only want to be with one woman, period. You just want to be with one woman, you can marry. But he didn't say vengeance will be against everybody else who hasn't. So, with that being said, sexuality, you could be promiscuous. I don't think that's the greatest sin out there because all sins are equal in God's eyes. But it's it's to a point where if it's not done the right way, it's not looked at the right way. You understand what I'm saying? God looks at it differently than we do. We're saying, oh, it's just a physical act. It's more than just a physical act, though, to God. You're doing something you weren't created to do. Okay. So I'm just I'm just saying, just saying. You're told gender identity is a sin. Okay. I'm a man, I identify as a man. Is that a sin? Well, was I created as a man? Did God create me? Did I come out the womb as a man? Yeah. So am I in alignment with God?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Now if I came out as a woman and I said I'm a man, and I didn't come out the womb as a man, and I say I'm a man, that's not what the Bible says.

SPEAKER_03

But at the end of everything, you have to make the decision for you. I can make the decision for you. I can tell you what the Bible says, but it's not my job to make you choose. I can only tell you what scripture says, right? And I'm supposed to leave it at that. I I tell you, you don't want to adhere to it, you adhere to it. That's upon you. Then I I have nothing to do with that. I'm not judge, jury, and executioner. I'm just telling you what God said. But if somebody's drummel, drumming, drilling it into you, pummeling it into you, then that's obviously not the right thing to do. Because Jesus didn't come like that. Jesus came, he spoke his word, you either heared to it, you didn't, he moved on. That's all it's supposed to be. Now, if you keep coming to a church that's practicing these things and is preaching these things, and you want to change what the pastor's saying, you're wrong at that point. Yeah, you're wrong at that point. Because how you gonna go into somebody's house telling them they got to change the way their house is? You don't want nobody coming in your house telling you to stop being gay.

SPEAKER_02

So you can't go into nobody else telling them how to handle their house, how to handle their affairs.

SPEAKER_03

Now, if they're doing something illegal according to the law, you you can warn them, obviously, but that goes into a whole nother subject. We're trying to stick to the religion aspect of it. You're told you're going to hell. Okay. Without salvation, that doesn't apply to, I mean, that does apply to everybody without salvation. And God wants us all to be saved, right? And the problem I have is that when people say, I'm saved, I'm saved, I'm saved, nobody knows they're saved until God says you're saved. Because you don't know your own sins thoroughly. Only God does. You could try to be the best you can be, but no merit of man's own. Effort can usher you into heaven. That's only through Christ. And if you're not adhering to Christ's rules, I mean, I didn't make the Bible up. I didn't say what the rules were. I didn't set the rules. I can only tell you. But these are the things you have to be wary of. When people tell you going to hell, hell, they might be going to hell. They're telling you you're going to hell when they handbasket on fire, going to hell. So who you gonna listen to? Read the Bible for yourself. Stop depending on others to tell you what's in the Bible. Or for any other religion for that matter. If you believe in the Quran and you're letting somebody tell you what's in the Quran, don't depend on them to tell you.

SPEAKER_02

Read it for yourself.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I'm just saying.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. What if you're told you need to be cured or you have to hide who you are? Or you're told to deny yourself. These are more purity and controlling things. You guys have to be aware of these things. How

Prayer Used To Block Real Help

SPEAKER_03

about this for spiritual bypassing?

SPEAKER_00

Okay. You're told to pray. That one bothers me a lot. Because my aunt.

SPEAKER_03

My aunt went to a particular church, okay? And this church my aunt went to. She had cancer, breast cancer. They told her, you don't need a doctor, just pray on it. Believe. Have faith. My aunt died.

SPEAKER_00

She went to the hospital when she couldn't bear it anymore, but it was too late. And that's where I have a problem.

SPEAKER_03

I have a serious problem with people who say you only need to pray, and that's it. Well, God created through man all these other methods for healing, but you don't want to use those because you say God's gonna heal us. God can miraculously heal. I've seen it happen. I've seen it happen here in this country and abroad. But you can't force God to do something He's not willing to do. We don't have control over God. You have to realize that part. If your health is at stake, go get help. Because what if God say, nah, I'm not healing you because of you did something in the past. What if God said that? He's willing to forgive you, but you never asked for forgiveness. And you forgot what you did. So now you're in this situation because of that sin or whatnot. Just saying, this could be a scenario. Not saying that this is the scenario, but it's possible. We have to really start quit letting people dictate to us what is. We have to start reading for ourselves. We have to start getting into our own spirituality and stop letting people dictate what that should be or should look like. Getting our own personal relationship with the creator does not involve my next door neighbor. It was me and the creator. It's supposed to be us, right? Okay. So you're told to forgive instead of create boundaries. I don't recall that being said in the Bible at all. You're told to accept suffering instead of resist it. Okay. Well, if God had the Israelites go and kill other people who had them suffering or had them in a wayward situation, why would that be true? The only suffering that Christians are supposed to endure is the work of God. You going out, you you spreading the word of God, how he healed you, you testifying, you reaching out to communities that haven't heard about Christ and the salvation that he brought. And you're doing this. You're evangelizing for Christ. And you suffer in the process. People don't want it. They lock you up, they imprison you, they torture you, they kill you. That's the work. That's the suffering. Not getting raped is not the suffrage that God was speaking of. Also, that might end up being a byproduct if you get locked up and imprisoned. But just on a one-on-one basis, coming from your religious leader? No, no, no. You told your mental health issues are spiritual problems. You have a demon on you. My mind is messed up because you know, I was raped by my uncle. I'm just making up a story here. I was raped by my uncle, so I'm I'm messed up in the head.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, you got a demon on you. You just need to pray about it.

SPEAKER_02

Don't I need to talk about it? I mean, I already prayed. You don't think I didn't pray about it already? I need to get this straightened out up here.

SPEAKER_03

Who knows how to straighten it out? Your pastor is supposed to be a mediator between you and the Almighty, right? So why wouldn't the pastors put point you in the direction of the help you you need? These are things I'm just saying. And remember, I'm just quoting the Bible. Just quoting the Bible. Now you you go and you pray. The pastor, you go to the pastor and tell him what happened. And okay, are you in a safe situation? Are you okay? You right, you're all right right now. I'm like, no, you know, if I go back home, I'm gonna get abused again. Okay, then we're gonna put you in a safe situation. I'm gonna make a couple couple phone calls. Not, oh, let's just pray about it. Bro, what purpose is the church for if not to help the people? That's what it was made for. That's why Christ made the church for us to help each other. Not just to tell, oh, just pray about it. Anyway, you're told your healing only comes through faith. Healing can't come through faith. I'm a testament to that. I got healed according to faith while I was in prison. But they're saying healing only comes through faith. Well, if God works through all of us and he's worked through people to give them methods of other healing, alternative methods of healing, say if I'm not in the right place in my mind spiritually, and I need help, and my body is failing me. And you tell me you gotta have faith, that's the only way you're gonna get healed. You ain't gonna tell me to oh, go see this doctor, which absolutely can heal me in my situation, but my appendix ends up bursting because I'm trying to have faith. If I'm not right spiritually, you you just killed me, basically. That's why I say a lot of people are going straight to hell. Talking about pastors, ministers, deacons, all that. It's a lot of them going straight to hell because they're not giving the right information to the people. And they're using the people for their own ends and control, and the the punishment is gonna be worse for them. The Bible states that. So I'm just speaking on that path. Now, you're told your pain is a test from God. God doesn't administer pain, He teaches you the lesson can be painful if you're disobedient, but that's you, not God. God tried to lead you in the right in the right path, but you chose to go left. So you ended up knocking your head against the wall. Oh, it's God's fault. He's trying to teach me.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, you chose that path. That's you. Correct it. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

On

Isolation Tactics And Checking The Fruits

SPEAKER_03

the world of isolation. Oh, this is a big topic. Boy, I don't I bet off more than I could chew trying to tell you you guys all this. I'm gonna have to do a part two to this. It's it's still a lot more. Oh my god, it's a lot more. I thought I was halfway through with this. Ooh, I thought I could get through it. Speed up and get ain't no way I could cover all this in six minutes. I need another show. Let's see. Where was I? Oh man, I didn't even make it to segment two. Wow. So I'm telling y'all this is deep. This is deep. As far as it goes with the with a survivor, child abuse survivor. We look to our religious leaders for help. We look to our religious leaders for guidance. We look to our religious leaders because we're not sure that we can make rational decisions and judgments ourselves. So we depend on these people to help guide us until we can get our minds wrapped around what's happened to us and all that stuff. But these guys, some of them, not all of them, some of them are on the right path, right and true path. I will admit that. But some of them are like used car salesmen, you know, shady. They're just trying to get you locked in. They're using the Bible to do so. So you have to be wary and vigilant. The Bible speaks on that. How to discern if a church or a preacher is someone you should be listening to. If a church is a place you should be going. The Bible says it. We look at the fruits. I'm I didn't make it up. I ain't make none of this what I said up. It's all there in the Bible. If you read it for yourself, you'll see it. I know it's a big book, it's daunting, but take a couple verses a day, and you'll, I promise you, you'll get through it within a year and a half. Because you might end up going back reading over stuff again and be like, wow, I didn't realize that. I know I did. But you'll never know if you don't read it for yourself. You just sit back and rely on somebody else telling you what's in the Bible, and then they don't tell you everything that's in it, they only tell you so much that's in it because they believe that portion is gonna keep you coming back to church. They don't want to tell you the other stuff because that'll make you question everything that you're doing, which is supposed to make you question yourself. There's no growth if you don't question where you're at, right? So I'm gonna give y'all this last tidbit before I go. I'm gonna mark this right here because I'm gonna have to do a section two to this. This probably be a follow-up on our Wednesday show. And isolation. I want to let y'all know about the isolation portion of it. You're told the ice outside world is evil. Okay, everybody in the outside world obviously is not evil. You know, people are people, some good, some bad, some in between. Some people don't have a clue, some people don't know nothing about religion, some people haven't heard about religion, they're just living. So the whole world is not inherently evil, although evil is in the world. So that's incorrect. You're told to cut off non-believers. I would say this: if you say you want to go down the path of Christianity, the things the Christianity is teaching you is not aligning with your lifestyle and how you've been living with your friends and stuff. Say your friends are all atheists, or maybe some of them are, but they've been your ride or dies, right? So they're telling you to cut off the people that's helping you, that's your support group, blah, blah, blah, blah. I will say this in your road to spirituality, which includes reading the Bible for yourself, not with somebody for yourself, read it for yourself first, but in your road, you will realize that if the further you go down the path on your journey into whatever branch of spirituality you're in, you're gonna realize that you're gonna start boxing yourself in. You're gonna start closing the outside world out, you're gonna do it to yourself. Excuse me. That's because you're trying to stay focused on your faith. You're starting trying to stay focused on your beliefs, and you're trying to get this thing down pat. I don't know if you guys heard this said, and but they said the the newcomers to Christ sometimes they get on fire for Christ, but it's a flame that can easily be extinguished because they don't know enough. You know, they want everybody to come down this path, but they don't know enough. So the thing of it is you want to try to focus on your faith, and that's fine. But realize you can keep people at different levels in your life, they don't all have to be right in your presence all the time, you can give them a level or a degree of closeness. You don't have to totally cut them off. But when it comes to certain things, as you set your boundaries in your faith, you can say, nope, I'm not doing that. But you can go ahead and do that, I'm not doing that. I let that go. For instance, let's say you used to smoke weed together, and then you found faith, and then you say, Okay, I'm not doing that no more. I'm gonna set the boundary, I'm not doing that no more. Your friend comes around. Come on, hit this joint with me. No, I'm not doing that no more. Oh man, you done found found this uh this church, and now you acting all suspect and all this stuff. Try to try to get you out your zone. But you're like, no, bro. You know, this is me now. And I'm not trying to go down that route. You know, I'm I still rock with you, I just don't do those things no more. Like, I know you like smoking in the car, so I can't ride with you no more because I don't smoke no more. So, you know, certain things that you got to respect me, I still respect you. Let's keep it 100, you know, that way. I mean, it's ways you can do it. You don't have to let somebody be in your personal space all the time as you go down your faith, road of faith. You're told to destruct secular, distrust secular help.

SPEAKER_00

That depends on the entity.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, people who don't go to church all the time hear all the stories about how pastors siphon money out of the churches, have 10 different offering plates in the church. You know, I might be exaggerating. Then again, it might not be an exaggeration, depending on it, the church. So then people say, oh man, you trust that. You know, people don't help you, man. They only trying to, you know, we're taught to like not trust this stuff.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I got a pastor, man. He just bought a jet. He bought a what?

SPEAKER_02

He just bought a jet, he bought a helicopter, he bought a beans, he bought a new house, $200 million house, he bought a million-dollar house. What what? But the people in the church still suffering. The people in church still ill, people in church still homeless, people in church still hungry and starving, people in the church don't have no transportation, people in church don't have no jobs. Church is supposed to be helping the people. You helping yourself, okay. That's what you're supposed to be looking at. The fruits.

SPEAKER_03

These are the things the secular people will say, and you have to discern for yourself what's really going on. That didn't mean you see one church just in disorder and disarray that you should say, no, I'm not going to church ever again. You know, you have to shop around. You don't go to one grocery store, or you don't go to one gas station, or you don't go to one restaurant and say, This is a restaurant I'm gonna go to all dang, they food nasty. Well, I'm gonna keep going back to this one anyway, or I'm just not gonna go to any restaurant after that. So you have to think, think people. Okay. You're told your community is the only safe place. That depends on the entity of the committee, community, the fruits. I've tell I told y'all before, I keep telling, look at the fruits of the church, look at the fruits of the community. Okay, you're told leaving the faith is abandoning God. You can never abandon God. God is always with you. God is inside of you. How can you abandon this the presence that's always with you, the spirit that's always in you? You can't abandon it, it's in you. You can deny it because you don't know, or you choose to say, I don't believe that the Bible tells you don't go against the spirit, or don't grudge the spirit, or begrudge the spirit. You have to be very wary of that portion. You have to be very careful about your stance on that. I'm gonna leave it at that because I ain't going into it no further. I went into the stuff further. We are already over an hour. Okay, and the last one is you're told apostasy apostasy is the worst sin.

Apostasy Fears And Labels

SPEAKER_03

Do I need to say more on that one? I mean, really. Okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna do a favor for y'all just just to show y'all. Apostasy is the abandonment or renunciation of a religious or political belief. Okay, that would be to say, for example, let's say I'm Christian, right? Let's say I renounce my being a Christian.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, say it's the worst sin. Let me tell you something like this.

SPEAKER_03

When I started looking at all these religions to claim to be Christian, and I saw the people were not practicing true Christianity. I started saying to myself, what is a Christian? What exactly is a Christian? Because we all say Christian is a follower of Christ. Because in the Bible, it said the people who weren't Christians looked at the Christians, people who are now called Christians, and said they're following Christ. They are Christ-like because they're striving to be like Christ. So we call them Christians. That wasn't made up by the church, that was made up by people outside of the church. We call ourselves that adorning the name because we said that is kind of like what we're doing, so we just accepted it. But the word Christian isn't. Of God. It didn't come down from God. God didn't send Moses to tell people we are now called Christians because Christ is coming and that's who y'all are gonna be. It was Israelites, right? So we're supposed to be Israelites now, Hebrews. What are we? Do you know what you are concerning them? Because I know a lot of us do know, but the people, I'm talking about the new people trying to get into the religious part of it, do not know where they are. They don't know where they're coming from. So when you say, like I have said, I do not claim Christianity, I claim, I claim to follow God and I claim to follow Christ, I claim to follow the Holy Spirit. Not really, not really, because in the Bible it says, seek me with all thy heart, mind, and soul. If I'm seeking him with all my heart, mind and soul, I truly want to know him. That's Christianity. That's not Christianity, no, because that was said before Christianity was even a thing. Gotcha. So what that is, is that's just you and a relationship with your creator. That's what that is.

SPEAKER_00

It doesn't have a name. It doesn't have a name. We could say we're followers of Jesus.

SPEAKER_03

That would be more accurate, even though it's not, because the letter J wasn't made when Christ was around.

SPEAKER_00

So we just decided to call him a whole nother name.

SPEAKER_03

So that's why I say Yahuwah and Yeshua now. That might not be their true names, but that's a step closer to where I was calling Jehovah and Jesus. As you learn, as you grow, as you continue to seek, you get closer to the truth. That's the way it's supposed to be. We're supposed to be ever seeking the truth.

Final Takeaways And Next Steps

SPEAKER_03

And with that, I'm gonna leave you guys. My fellow survivors, I want y'all to know don't allow religion to cloud your judgment. Don't allow religion to keep you stifled. Don't allow religion to stop you from your relationship with the Creator.

SPEAKER_00

The Almighty does exist. So does his son and his spirit in all of us.

SPEAKER_03

We have to go on a journey, each and every one of us for ourselves, to learn of these truths, to unearth these truths, which have been hidden from us for the matter of control.
