Before the questions began…
Heaven already knew Job’s name.

“Have you considered My servant Job?”
Together, we’ll unpack the theology, psychology, and life lessons hidden within this extraordinary passage and discover what it means to trust God when we don’t have the full story.

Good morning, good morning, good morning. Happy, happy Wednesday. Welcome back to Surviving the Silence, a chapter-by-chapter journey through the book of Job. I am your host, Monique Anderson, and this is the beautiful me empowerment ministry where healing meets hope and broken places become testimonies of grace. So, in our last episode, we discovered that before Job's suffering ever began, God established Job's identity. And can I say this to you right now? That before you discovered your suffering, before all the trials, before all the valley moments, before all the disappointments, before all the um diagnosis, before all the betrayal, before all the hurt, before all the loss, yeah, before all of the storms, God established your identity. Hallelujah. So before the losses, before the pain, before the storm, we see God introduced Job as blameless. He introduced Job as upright and faithful. And so today we step into chapter two. And it is a very fascinating and even, if I may say, mysterious scene, right? A conversation was held or was being held. A conversation that Job never heard. A conversation that would change everything. A conversation happening in heaven while Job was living an ordinary day on earth. And the reality is, maybe that is our first lesson today. That there is often more happening in our lives than we can see. And I quoted Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts' words the other day when she said, Everything in your current reality may seem like it is falling apart, but in the spiritual realm, it is all coming together at the same time. Hallelujah. Father, we love on you this morning. Daddy God, you are awesome. You're amazing. You are such a good, good father. God, you are excellent. The song says, How you're excellent, Jesus, you're excellent. You're excellent in all the earth. You're excellent, Jesus. You're excellent. You're excellent in all the earth. And if the rich man don't want to praise you, you are excellent in all the earth. If we don't want to praise you, you are still excellent in all the earth. And today, God, we choose to give you glory, we choose to give you honor. We choose to worship you, Abba Father. And Lord, may the incense of our worship this morning be like sweet perfume to your nostrils, Abba Father, as you call us to come up higher in the name of Jesus. Father, today we thank you for life. We thank you for health and strength. Mighty God, we thank you, oh God, for the privilege, the opportunity to see another beautiful day, another day to reset, Father. And even in this moment, God, I repent of my sins. And I ask you, God, to wash me and cleanse me and remove everything from me, Daddy, that is not of you, that does not reflect you. Everything that does not look like you, does not smell like you. God, don't taste like you, don't sound like you. Abba, Father, create in me a clean heart and renew our right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence and take not your Holy Spirit from me, but restore unto me the joy of your salvation and renew our right spirit within me. Father, I thank you, oh God, that as we open your word today, we ask you to open our understanding, help us see beyond our circumstances, help us trust you when we cannot trace you. Father, help us understand that what happens on earth is not always the whole story. Speak to us through Job's journey and reveal yourself to us in a fresh way. In Jesus' name, amen. Hallelujah. Did I tell you what today's topic was as we dive into episode two through the book of Job? So today's conversation or today's topic is the conversation you never heard. And we're going to be looking at Job 1 verses uh 6 to 12, and we see where the Holy Spirit will lead us. And Job 1, 6 to 8 reads, so you can read up to 12 on in your own time. And as you read or before you read, just invite the Holy Spirit to speak to you through the scripture, right? So now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. The Lord said to Satan, From where have you come? Satan answered the Lord and said, From going to and fro on the earth and from walking up and down on it. And the Lord said to Satan, Have you considered my servant Job? I want you to pause there for a moment. And let's sit there for a moment. Imagine Job's day. So Job might be out there checking on his family, managing his responsibilities, praying for his children, you know, living an ordinary day, completely unaware that heaven is discussing him. See, Job has no idea. His wife has no idea. His children have no idea. But guess what? Heaven knows his name. Can I say this to you today? Heaven knows your name. And what fascinates me is that God was the one who initiated the conversation. It wasn't Satan. God initiated this conversation. And the Hebrew phrase implies careful observation, right? When he says, Have you considered my servant Job? It means that have you carefully observed Job? Have you studied him? Right? Examined him. God is essentially asking, have you truly looked at him? Have you noticed his faithfulness? Have you examined his character? Think about that. Of all the people on earth, God mentions Job's name. God mentions your name. And this is not God exposing Job. This is not God exposing you. This is God affirming you. Many people interpret trials as evidence that God has forgotten them. However, we see where theologically Job teaches the opposite. Before the trial begins, heaven already recognizes Job. Before the attack starts, God already knows his character. Before the storm arrives, God already knows what he has placed on the inside of Job. And one of the most fascinating truths that I find in psychology, because you know I'm going to link psychology with biblical theology, right? So one of the most fascinating things that um truth that I found in psychology is that people often do not know their own strength until adversity reveals it. Yeah. Resilience is rarely discovered in comfort, courage is rarely discovered in safety. Perseverance is rarely discovered when life is easy. And sometimes the storm reveals what the calm never could. And if you were to sit with yourself and be honest with yourself, even our relationship with God, it would not have developed the way it has unless we have gone through something. The truth is that we underestimate ourselves from time to time. We don't know how strong we are, we don't know how resilient we are, we don't know what God has placed on the inside of us. And sometimes God sees something in us that we haven't yet discovered in ourselves. And so we see where Satan responds and he said, Does Job fear God for nothing? In other words, he is saying the only reason Job serves you is because you bless him. So Satan's accusation is not really about Job, it's about motives. The enemy questions the authenticity of Job's faith. He suggests that Job's worship is transactional, that Job only loves God because life is good, that Job's devotion depends upon favorable circumstances. And honestly, many people still believe this today. We assume that faith is easy when life is working. But what happens when life stops working? What happens when prayers go unanswered? What happens when doors close? What happens when the diagnosis comes? What happens when the relationships end? What happens when the dream dies? Will we still trust God then? And that is the question behind the book of Job. And I've been in a season where this chapter literally became personal for me. Because I've had moments during this season on my journey where I wondered, God, what are you doing? Moments when life just felt so unfair. Moments when disappointment came one after another. Moments when my peace felt under attack. Moments when I questioned whether I had somehow missed God's plan. But as I read through this chapter, it challenged me because it reminded me that heaven knew something that Job didn't know. And today perhaps heaven knows something about you, about me that we didn't know about ourselves. Perhaps God sees strength where we see weakness. Perhaps God sees purpose where we see pain, growth where we see grief, development where we see disappointment. Because while Job saw a storm approaching, God saw faith that would endure. Hallelujah. And one of the most profound aspects of Job is that the reader knows more than Job. So we know the heavenly conversation happened, but Job doesn't. We know there is a larger purpose, but Job doesn't. We know there is a spiritual reality operating beyond what he can see. Job doesn't. And this is the human condition, isn't it? Where we are constantly trying to interpret our lives with incomplete information. So we make conclusions from limited understanding. We see one chapter, but God sees the whole book. We see Friday, but God sees Sunday. We see the cross, but God sees the resurrection. We see the storm, but God sees the shore. And faith often means trusting God's perspective when we don't have access to all the facts. And so today, perhaps your greatest struggle is not what you're experiencing. Perhaps your greatest struggle is trying to understand it. You know, trying to make sense of it, trying to find a reason for it, trying to explain what only God understands. But we see where the book of Job teaches us that there are moments when faith means accepting that we do not have the full story, and that God can be trusted even when we don't understand. And as I go through my season, you know, I said to God, I said, honestly, daddy, at this moment, I have a little bit of hope, I have a little bit of faith, I have a little bit of trust, I have a little bit of belief. But what I've gotten to understand is in our eyes or through our naked lenses, we may see it as little, but God see it as much. There is this saying that says, little is much when God is in it. And so I've said to God, I am giving you my little. Until then, I want you to remember the chapter may be painful, but the story is not over. This is Monique Anderson from Beautiful Me Empowerment Ministry. Keep trusting, keep believing, keep healing, and remember, God is still writing. Hallelujah. Abba Father, I want to thank you. Thank you this morning, God, for reminding us that you see what we cannot see. Help us to trust you when we don't understand. Strengthen us in seasons of uncertainty. Give us faith to believe that you are working even when we cannot perceive it. And daddy, remind us that before the storm ever arrived, you already knew our name. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. God bless you and thank you for listening. Like, share, leave a comment, and just know that I love you, but God loves you even more. God bless you.
