I'm coming back.
SPEAKER_09You're coming back?
SPEAKER_03I'm coming back. I came. Hello everyone. Welcome back to What do you in for podcast? I'm Adobe and this is our podcast where we talk about anything related to the furry fandom. My buddy Ryu and I take turns introducing topics each episode. Sometimes entirely about the fandom, or sometimes not enough about it.
SPEAKER_09Speaking of him, how are you doing today? Oh my god. Hi! Hi everyone, I'm great. I I'm kind of anxious. Uh I just got really anxious. Why are you anxious? As you did the intro, because you did it really different than you did it before. Um, it was good. Um, but now I'm doing I'm I'm okay. Uh work was okay. I went this morning to give my client's dog uh some insulin, and this was at 6 30, and then I drove to McDonald's, I ate some food, um, I had a McGriddle with cheese and a hash brown, and I had some coffee. Did you bring me some? No, I'm not done talking. Shut up. And then so I from McDonald's I drove to work to just sit in the parking lot for another 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and I decided I was gonna take a nap because I was super tired and I almost fell asleep in the car like while driving on the fucking interstate. Uh-huh. I was so I was so tired, dude. So I took a nap and I woke up five minutes before I had to go in, and I was so groggy, and like, you know how it, you know how it feels whenever you wake up from like a fever nap?
SPEAKER_02Yes, that's the exact position I'm in right now.
SPEAKER_09Oh, dude, it's fucking terrible. And I went into work like that, and one of my coworkers, she's really um like really cheerful in the morning, and she was like, Oh, good morning. And I was like, it's kind of how I feel right now.
SPEAKER_12But that's literally exactly where I'm at, though, because I just woke up not long ago and my body is like super, super achy.
SPEAKER_03And I woke up, my body was yelling at me, getting out of bed, and then when I looked at my phone, I couldn't see anything, but I was somehow still scrolling. I have no memory of turning off my alarm, but apparently I did that. My legs are jello. Like, I mean, they're partially jello, but like everything just felt gelatinous.
SPEAKER_09My legs are sore. Yeah. My legs are sore. I did my first, I did my first um mile and a half run. Oh, good for you. First time yesterday in five years. First time I ran in five years. I'll give you a gold star. Gold star for real. I'm gonna start running again and getting my stamina nodes.
SPEAKER_02I was wheeling a hundred-pound, a two hundred-pound bin up and down 16 fucking steps for the past six to seven hours of my workday. Oh yeah. I am tired. That fucking sucks, dude. You know what? I'm here. I don't have a beer, and I'm not queer.
SPEAKER_09So what do we do here? What do we have for today are you? Adobe, today we're gonna go, we're gonna do a little throwback. And remember I like those. I like throwing it back. Whenever you ask me the questions for best friends. I love questions for best friends. Uh-oh. And I'm gonna ask you questions because you're my best friend. But they're gonna be kind of they're gonna be kind of furry related as well. Oh, fuck yeah. I can't remember. Can you remind me what that episode?
SPEAKER_02Best questions for best friends. Oh, is that where I quizzed you? Yes.
SPEAKER_03It was only you, and I decided not to answer anything, but I wanted to make you answer everything.
SPEAKER_09Excuse me? Yes. I'll answer, I'll answer some things if you really want me to. I'll answer some things with you. I gotta get my brain turned on. But today we're focusing on you because today is about you, and I love you. Oh, and we're together forever. Together forever. Let's just get into it, alright? More enthusiasm. Yeah, more confidence. Say it again with more enthusiasm. Number one.
SPEAKER_02More enthusiasm. More enthusiasm.
SPEAKER_09I know, uh just like your morning coworker. Dude, I'm I just can't. It's okay.
SPEAKER_02Hey, we're gonna do it together. You're we're gonna do it together.
SPEAKER_03Ready? It's it's um more enthusiasm. I'll match your energy. I'll match it.
SPEAKER_10Here we go. Get ready. All you listeners are prepared for this one. Oh, he's coming. And oh, give me a minute. Oh my god, Ryu, did you say we're gonna have questions for best friends all over again? Why do I have a hair on me? Yes. Yes, Adobe.
SPEAKER_09Okay, today we are in for questions for best friends furry themed. Adobe, I'm gonna be asking you 50 questions if time allows, that kinda ask you why you chose yourself in the persona you identify with in the furry fandom.
SPEAKER_05Alright, I I'm ready. I'm so ready. Ryu. Okay, let's go. Cover me in your great gluttonous.
SPEAKER_09My gluttonous. You think I'm gluttonous?
SPEAKER_10No, I don't.
SPEAKER_09You think I'm you think I'm um um I don't rotund.
SPEAKER_10I don't I don't know where that came from. I was sleeping.
SPEAKER_12You were sleeping. Yeah, you're sleep talking. Oh, you sleep talking.
SPEAKER_09You sleep talking? You're taking a little nap? Yeah, I was, yeah. Okay. Well, I'm glad you're back because it's time to get into these questions. Because we're I think I feel like you're stalling. Why? Because you don't want to answer because you don't want me to quiz you.
SPEAKER_02No, you listen to listen, listen, you gotta listen to me, okay? Adobe.
SPEAKER_03I would never stall during this time in our lives where it is the utmost importance that you have 110% of my attention.
SPEAKER_10Why? Because you are standing here today with a topic oh so dear to you, and I, as your best friend, am gonna sit here and listen. And because I care about you, your problems are my problems. And guess what? My problems probably aren't your problems because I don't do that, but you know what? That's okay.
SPEAKER_03And I gotta put a sign on my door. Hold on. Okay, what were we talking about?
SPEAKER_10Oh, yeah. So because it's your topic, and I'm so ready to hear you and listen to you, let me just say, frankly, I hate you.
SPEAKER_09I love you so much. I love you so much. You're so silly. Okay. Are you ready for the first cast?
SPEAKER_12Can I mo can I monologue again? No. Okay, then I guess I'm ready.
SPEAKER_09Why did you choose your fursona species? Well we'll we'll go ahead and start with the one you have currently.
SPEAKER_03The Dobe's fursona or Adobe? Adobe. Yeah, we'll roll with Adobe because I feel like he's still part of me and everything.
SPEAKER_12So one still technically my main.
SPEAKER_03Uh with Adobe, I had originally had him as a red wolf for anyone who doesn't know. And back then, that was just because I liked wolves. But as I gave him a redesign, um, I think what am I saying a year ago? But it was a little bit ago now. Um, I changed him into a retriever because of the energy, um, because of the extrovertedness, because of the friendliness, and because of outside the fandom, I was called a goal, like I had the personality of a golden retriever. And that wasn't even in relation to the furry fandom. So over time I just kind of developed that idea of like, oh, well, what if I had a character that was a gold retriever? I eventually just made Adobe who was my main persona a retriever. And then that's where that species came to be. That's so cool, dude.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that's so just dog energy, you know, just dog brain. He got that, he got that dog in him. Now, now, whenever I got a question. Whenever they do like a group howl. No. Like a howl at anthrocon, are you gonna partake?
SPEAKER_03I don't partake in that to begin with.
SPEAKER_06Did you just do that?
SPEAKER_09Or it could be it could be more like a basset hound, like a like a Adobe.
SPEAKER_12Future future Adobe. Slow his spark down. Alright, Adobe. Now slow it down and reverse it. Alright, future Adobe. Now slow it down, reverse it, and reverb with reverb it. Thank you, thank you.
SPEAKER_09Future Adobe. Grab your nipples and twist them as hard as you fucking can and repeat to yourself, I'm fucking stupid.
SPEAKER_03Um, why am I doing this right now? I'm not in the future. Alright, well.
SPEAKER_09You're doing it right now as I speak to you. Good dog.
SPEAKER_02Thank you.
SPEAKER_09You're welcome. Thank you. All right. Okay, okay. What what part of yourself does your first sonar represent the most?
SPEAKER_03Adobe definitely represents my extroverted side the most. That over friendly, like super loving, high energy kind of personality that I do have. Um, but yeah, he definitely represents my extroverted size. It's an exaggerated part part of my personality, I would say. Okay. I don't know if there's much more meat to that, though. I think that's pretty much Yeah.
SPEAKER_09No, that's good. That's good. Is your persona who you are or who you want to be?
SPEAKER_12Oh, that's a deep question. I know you know that question.
SPEAKER_03Ah, alright. Listeners, buckle up buttercups, because it's about to get real deep. So growing up, no wait, I've talked about this and I've listened left listeners on a cliff on a cliffhanger. I should leave on a cliffhanger again. I won't do that. So with Adobe growing up, I had made him, I mean, he he's like, I think eight years going on, maybe pushing nine years old now, based on like when I made him, I should say, of how long I've had him as a character. But yeah, so growing up, I never really had much of a role model. So when I had made Adobe, I gave him personality traits of something that I strive to uh achieve or have or obtain. The longer I've had him, the closer I got in the furry community, as well as just being more confident and caring towards myself, is when the bridge between Adobe's personality and my real life personality started to bridge together. Um, in which Adobe had always been something I wanted to be. There was a time in my life where I feel like I had reached that. But what was the most interesting thing was, and I will say this is probably more recent than not, when I had realized and took a step back that I achieved that Adobe personality I wanted was when I felt the least like myself. So now I have lately taken a little step back and trying to refine myself again. So originally he was who I strive to be. Right. Um, but now I can't say as much anymore. So a little complicated of an answer than I need to be, but I hope that makes a bit of sense.
SPEAKER_09No, yeah, no, that made that totally makes sense. I totally understand.
SPEAKER_03I just always want to be a friendly, energetic guy, and then I realize how draining that can really get. And um, you know, no nothing depressing or too deep, just that's just my experience with him.
SPEAKER_09It's just a lot, it's a lot to be like for lack of a better term, like entertainer.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, absolutely. Like there's a time and a place for that part of my personality or that part of someone's personality to come out, but as an all-the-time thing, oh my god, no, you get so tired so quick.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So there's a healthy balance to everything.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, like I'm a people pleaser myself. Like, I want to make sure everybody's happy, and I'm a yes person. So I'm always like, yes, yes, yes. I agree. You're really good at pleasing me.
SPEAKER_01You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_09Oh, I am? Yeah. I'm always pleased. So I'm I'm so pleased. As I as I as I let me please you some more with this next question. How personal is your first son to you? Like how like well, you can if you want, you can elaborate on on um both if you want.
SPEAKER_12How personal is he to me?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I mean, very. Even though I'm not as much like Adobe as I maybe once was or would be, um he still holds an extremely important place. I mean not even for the sense of like theatrics, but in my life, I would say. Um free fandom is uh very centric part of how I go about my day-to-day. And Adobe is almost as personal as it gets. A lot, especially because a lot of people know me as Adobe. A lot of people has bef have befriended me with that uh that mindset. And although I'm not gonna live like fake anymore, and I'm not gonna fake who I am moving forward, um, it's still extremely important to me. It's just right there's a lot of that creative aspect, that social aspect of what Adobe represents, or just who Adobe is compared to who I am as a person. Um very, very, very, very personal, I would say. And and that also now goes to my new sauna as well, even though I don't get called Dobes as often as I get called Adobe, which I don't care.
SPEAKER_09I call you Dobes because that's the nickname I gave you.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's where the nickname came into play, and that's why name tonight seems so similar.
SPEAKER_09I started a trend, and then it worked.
SPEAKER_03I and then it worked. Mm-hmm. With Adobe, my sona, and the fandom, it's all just extremely personal, honestly. How about you? I'm j I'm just curious what your perspective is on with uh with that with uh your jurid with how personal Ryu is to me.
SPEAKER_09Yes. Oh god. So I I really see him as like an extension of myself as in he's me, but just uh a fucking dragon without wings. Or I would I guess you could say a salamander. There's like a short little salamander, you know? And uh his uh personality is uh really the same as mine, because I'm I'm more laid back and half the time I'm anxious or stressed. So um that's kinda I guess doesn't really fit my persona very well, but I'm unique. So you are my free little friend.
SPEAKER_06Okay, thank you. I love you so much. I love you so much. We're gonna be together forever.
SPEAKER_09Together forever. Together forever. Has your persona ever helped you through a difficult time?
SPEAKER_03Yes and no. A lot of growing up, as I'd mentioned, um, in those times of who I was trying trying to find myself, but he's also created in I mean, I'm not gonna say in any malicious sense, it's not like he has a he's sentient, but although he's bridged my personality when I was finding myself and you know during my college years, he's also separated who I am deep down as a person because I was striving s for something I wasn't. So definitely helped me through tough times and get through things, but at the same time, yeah, created distance from who I truly was. So a little bit of a push and pull there. Um but yes, technically speaking. Oh Sherbert just texted me. Hi Sherbert. I don't know what it was, but I'm gonna read it out loud. You wanna play Hightail or something? Text me during recording?
SPEAKER_10Who do you think you are? Hi Sherbert, I love you.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, really great answer, honestly. So you kind of you kind of answered this question a little bit earlier, but I'm gonna ask it anyways. Do you express emotions through your persona that you struggle to express normally? 100%.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I mean, I I I can even answer this in a different manner rather than just keep rolling with the social sex extrovertedness. He also carries a lot of like self-love and confidence too. Um, even though I did mention confidence, I can I can roll with this one. He just has a like no self-doubt. And I'm not gonna go into this whole vent session because that deserves its own episode. Uh no, but he just has the confidence. He doesn't, you know, there's no second guessing himself. Um, and even though that's like you know, abnormal with most people, like that is a very real human emotion, it happens a lot with me. So him just having that confidence again gave me that thing to strive for, gave me that some gave me that something to look up to. And I've never really bridged that gap with that part of him. Never really got to that point. I've gained a little bit of confidence. I mean, you you see us making projects and doing stuff together, like there, you know, there there's there's some confidence there, but at the same time, that self-doubt never left, it's still there. So yeah, I mean, self-doubt, that confidence is definitely something I struggle to express as an individual. Where My Sona represents that very clean and and I don't want to say perfect, but ideal uh way to go about those kind of emotions is definitely what he has it.
SPEAKER_05I don't I'm yawning. I apologize if it's the morning and you're in the car driving. Don't don't engage with this podcast episode right now. I mean, wake up.
SPEAKER_10Wake the fuck up! What do you think you're doing? You think you're allowed to sleep? You think you'll be tired on this episode of this podcast? We're fucking loud. You don't get to be tired. I think I'm partialist telling this to myself whenever I edit this, but you know what? It's also fine. You're awake, you're here, you're with us, and there's another question.
SPEAKER_09Going to work.
SPEAKER_10You're in a coma. You've been in a coma for 10 years. Wake up! Wake up!
SPEAKER_09We miss you. Please wake up.
SPEAKER_12Please. Someone just had an existential crisis out there.
unknownMr.

SPEAKER_09I'm getting better at the fan. I'm getting better at the fan mail, the fan mail uh bit because I always struggle with the fan mail bit. I never know what to say.
SPEAKER_03It's a fun one.
SPEAKER_09Once you get the flow going, you got it. Do you think do you think Adobe is Adobe as a whole is final draft, or do you think he's still evolving?
SPEAKER_03Final draft. Adobe, Adobe as a character's final draft for sure. I would say once I finalized him into a golden retriever, which took years, um, once I hit that point, I would say that is final. The idea of a redesign with like his patterns uh was definitely thought of, but that want quickly faded once I made the new fursona because that was more towards my color palette, the patterns, the style that I would have pushed on to Adobe. Gotcha. So I would say he's final by now. I would say how he looks, even though it's really not my favorite, to be honest at all, and my least favorite color is red. It's also just who he is. So do you think you would ever do you think you would like ever change that?
SPEAKER_09Like his color, like his his color palette itself, or yeah, it's a like a golden color, like a neutral golden, like golden retriever color, or like what I think I mentioned or maybe have briefly scanned over the idea that I would add like a more neutral color palette to him.
SPEAKER_03But when I've edited or drawn, every now and then I'll mess with the color sliders where he turns like purple or more neutral toned. It just looks wrong. It just Looks wrong. I mean, I've had him for so long that if he's anything but red in like a pinkish tone, it's just not right. No. I could always exaggerate that tan color a bit more and then still keep the red tones, but I mean, I don't have to. I there's no reason to.
SPEAKER_12He looks a bit like a clown, but it's fine.
SPEAKER_03It's like it's it's like the holiday for Valentine's Day and Christmas fucked and had a baby, but that that baby was adobe. A little bit of a circus turn in there, too.
SPEAKER_09Baby dobes. Baby dubes. Speaking of baby does, what what do you think your younger self would think of your current persona? Let's say what would they think of Dobes?
SPEAKER_03I don't know, you don't really talk about Dobes too much, but Oh, that's so weird you said that because you made me think of an old art piece I forgot I'd drawn until right now. I'll ask you to repeat the question again, but what I'm thinking of is I made this art piece back in college of um of Adobe, and it was it was also when I was struggling a little bit too, but I made it where uh I made Adobe drawn as a kid, and it was a 2D, it was a 2D, like two-dimensional uh art piece, of course. And it was where he was crying and like bawling his eyes out, and then I had um like a more mature version of Adobe in the same art piece, like kind of like uh holding the little like little Adobe's hand, like kind of like comforting him, saying, Hey, it's okay, this is where you're at now, kind of idea. Or this is this is where you will be, where you're at now will be okay. So I don't know. I really like that. Completely forgot I drew that until you had mentioned that question. Wow but anyway, could you repeat the question too, please?
SPEAKER_09Like, what would your younger self think of like your persona now? Of Dobbes? Of dubs.
SPEAKER_03Um, I don't I don't think he would care for it or be as attached to it as I currently am now because younger me wanted to be something better, and making a character at the time is what helped achieve that. Dobes doesn't have those personalities I strive to have uh as a kid. Um I think I think as a kid I'd like Dobbes' design, and I I might have stuck with it, but I feel like Dobes wouldn't be the same if if Lil me as a kid decided to have him as the soda. Yeah. Um so I think he'd be okay with the color palette and everything, but I I just think Dobes as a character would be quite a bit different, honestly. Yeah. What about you? I'm curious. How do you answer that for Ryu? You know, I mean you had Stryker as a kid.
SPEAKER_09I had Stryker for like a few years, and then uh in where excuse me.
SPEAKER_02Whoa, cashew?
SPEAKER_09You can continue. I need to get some water. Are you okay? I need to need some water. Okay. Alright. Welcome back.
SPEAKER_02What's your favorite memory of us? Oh of us?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02Oh, dude.
SPEAKER_03I don't the thing is, I don't have just one, I have a lot. You're in a lot of my favorite memories I've had, um, especially within the furry scene in general. I think some that stand out the most is our first Anthrocon, um, being with you for TFF. I think just those I I would say the pre-Anthrocon days that we've had every year, where we're just at we're at my house just drinking and hanging out and having fun. Hanging out. I have a lot of favorite moments. I can't say there is one, but I think those few that I've named off of um are probably my favorite. They stand out to me so much because they felt so genuine, like down to the core, more than I can say I have had with most people. And that isn't saying that my hangouts with people aren't significant, but those have just felt like the most genuine, pure, yeah, just most genuine pure hangouts I've had with another person.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Oh and it was always positively re reinforced with other friends being in the, you know, being in the area with us, or of course, you know, Amelda being there, or you know, anything of the sort, but yeah, for sure. Not a cop-out answer.
SPEAKER_09I I I I hope not. No, no, you're fine. Okay. Just figured I'd ask you something and get you on the spot. Where do you draw where do you draw the line in between your identity and your persona?
SPEAKER_03Nowadays, I would say it's like a 75-25, 75% more my personality now with a 25% sprinkled in.
SPEAKER_09It's a good yeah, it's a good ratio.
SPEAKER_03Back then I could say it was more of a 90-10 where it was more my persona versus my personality, but now I'd say it's more push and pull who I actually am now. I would so yeah, I would say 75-25, um, honestly, at this point.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. I'd probably say 70-30.
SPEAKER_03Okay, yeah. And I mean, I think any number is valid too, but just I think my personal experience is yeah, in that 75-20-25 range.
SPEAKER_09Okay. Do you ever act, do you ever act like you're a persona without realizing it?
SPEAKER_03Big social hangouts for sure. Yeah. If we're talking Adobe, which I assume we are since we have been. With Adobe, yes, 100%. When I'm in bigger social settings, I seem to be more and more like my character, even when I'm not wearing this suit. And it's almost because like Adobe has been a safe space to help me get through whatever situation I'm in. So it's almost like putting on a mask. I just try to do it in a healthy manner. Sometimes I get carried away with it, and then I'm like, oh, well, I'm actually very uncomfortable because I'm not doing what I actually should or want to be doing. But I would be more like Adobe, more out there and trying to help everything, um, depending on the social setting. But the more people there are, the more inclined I am to be more like Adobe. And again, I think there's a healthy balance ongoing about that. It's almost just like, hey, you know, whatever situation I'm in, I have to, you know, perform, I have to be okay in. Um, and then we'll deal with it afterwards, kind of ordeal. So there's a healthy amount of that that I've been able to put out there. But yeah, bigger the bigger social setting is more where that comes out for sure.
SPEAKER_09I gotcha.
SPEAKER_03For sure.
SPEAKER_09I gotcha.
SPEAKER_03I say the podcast, even though I can be a little extra at times, I think the podcast I'm more myself than I might be in in a social setting. So it just depends. Just depends.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. I feel like I don't I feel like usually whenever I'm more what's the word? Um You got this? What's the fucking word? It's a word in the dictionary, I'm sure. Like we're oh, introvert uh introvert, extrovert, um ambivert. Ambivert. I'm I'm myself and am an ambivert. I kinda lean to lean different, but also just kind of situational. Yeah, Ryu's more extroverted though, and more wanting to meet uh meet new people and interact with friends, uh family, all that stuff. And uh that's who I strive to be. And sometimes, I mean, whenever I am with people who make me happy, I tend to be more extroverted.
SPEAKER_03I mean that's good too, because it shows that you're comfortable. So but yeah, that's sweet. Also copying me, I see how it is. But you know, that was sweet. I said it first, so that means you're copying me. That's obviously what that means. Whatever.
SPEAKER_00You don't know.
SPEAKER_03All right, ask this next question like we're in a cinematic movie trailer. Let's go.
SPEAKER_10Adobe.
SPEAKER_05I just spit all over my screen. I didn't mean an XXX porno. Cinematic.
SPEAKER_09That's not what I was gonna. That's not what I no, this is like a romantic, like like a like a like a murder mystery romance type. Okay, yeah, yeah. Sorry. Murder romance. Okay, okay, there we go. Let's run over. Adobe.
SPEAKER_10Adobe. What do you want you to say? I need you to say my name. Ryu.
SPEAKER_09Okay, this time for the for the podcast. Let's say it and not laugh in between. I don't know what you want to do. I just want you to say I just want you to be sentimental.
SPEAKER_07Adobe. Do you feel more understood as your first donor?
SPEAKER_10How the fuck is this a cinematic movie trailer at? What about this? I feel like we're in a cheap Hollywood porno. Do you feel more understood as your persona than as yourself?
SPEAKER_03Yes, that was perfect.
SPEAKER_09Is that what you wanted? A little bit music behind that? Yeah. Do you feel more understood as your first sona than as yourself?
SPEAKER_10Uh yes, but I refuse to elaborate. Next question. Really?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Okay. I do. I I I just feel like my sonas easy easier to read than who like me. And then I I I have trust issues. So you know.
SPEAKER_10But I that that's not that.
SPEAKER_03Oh wow, I feel like it's not like a fucking lawnmower.
SPEAKER_10I feel like God damn. God damn.
SPEAKER_09I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_12It was funny.
SPEAKER_03Last episode um that we have the uh recently posted, you're making fun of me for stuttering. But you making fun of me with stuttering was you were stuttering, trying to make fun of me for stuttering.
SPEAKER_09I know, I know. I think I stuttered while saying the word stuttering. You did. Yeah. Yeah, that happens. Alright, let's switch it up. What does being a furry personally mean to you? Deep down.
SPEAKER_03Uh sorry, I tried to come up with something really funny. No, what's the funny? I was gonna go down a cinematic movie trailer route again, and my brain stopped. Um, the qu the question So the question was about to be reread. Oh, yours truly. What? I'm really bad with not having like it in front of me because I keep forgetting.
SPEAKER_09Shut up. What does being a furry mean to you? Like deep down in your in your little heart, in your little Grinch heart. You say my Grinch heart? Yeah. Excuse you. What do you mean? You're mean to me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I love you.
SPEAKER_09I love you.
SPEAKER_03Being a furry, in my opinion, uh and how I go and how I see it is finding that escape that helps you get through your day-to-day.
SPEAKER_11Okay.
SPEAKER_03I I I feel like it's a very open-ended um idea, but uh being a furry is where people should be comfortable. It's where people should be feel like they're in a safe space. And I feel like people need that safe space to uh, for lack of better terms, just kind of make life feel a little more worth living, especially for those who struggle with things like mental health, social, social anxieties, and and and just maybe have troubles making friends or finding communities. Dude. And people come to the furry fandom to help find those things. Yes. So it's a safe space. It it's it's a place where people want to feel welcome. Sometimes it helps people find a purpose. Um there's a lot of different ways to look at it, but it's that safe space where you feel like you belong. And a lot of people in today's day and age, especially with where we're at now in the world, people don't have that feeling, not comfortably. So that's how I personally view it.
SPEAKER_09I I agree, dude, because I I see it as like it's it's a hobby that it's it's just I see it as one big hobby, the hobby of all hobbies. And oh god, I lost my train of thought. It brings people, it brings people together that all enjoy the same st the same stuff, and it can be multiple different things, you know? And it's just about the people coming together and all getting along and having fun, you know? Expressing yourself.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, dare I say it's pretty much it, it can be a lifestyle for a lot of people. I know people like uh my my girlfriend's a great example where she she kind of comes in and out of the fandom uh suits, but there's this disconnect between her personal life and the in the fandom. Um, and I think that's a very healthy thing. There's nothing wrong with that. And then people like me where the fandom is my life. And granted, I found more peace stepping outside the fandom at times when I can, but at the end of the day, like everything I do, there's a little bit of furry sprinkled in there. Yeah. And that can mean a plethora of things, but that is just how I go about my day-to-day. Yeah. Um, it's what makes me comfortable, and I feel like I'm in a place where I belong. And it's helped me find myself too. Um, and again, it does that with a lot of other people as well. It is the hobby of all hobbies, that's for fucking sure. Hell yeah. It's sometimes it's the worst fucking place to be in sometimes. God, y'all need to stop being so goddamn toxic.
SPEAKER_09For real. Do you think your first sona will always be part of your life?
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. Absolutely. I I think the significance might fall off at some point. Um, but that doesn't mean another sauna won't take its place. Kind of like Dobes is right now. But I think there absolutely will always be a significant place in my life where Adobe is part of that. And if not significant, he'll still be there as part of it, I believe. Yeah, I I do believe so. How how about you?
SPEAKER_09I want to say the same, but I really can't, I really can't tell you. I don't know. I can't I can't tell you what the future holds for me and the furry fandom. Are you just gonna throw the furry fandom away? Are you gonna throw me away? No, I'm not gonna throw you away. It's not that's not how that works.
SPEAKER_03I mean, you didn't want to be lifelong best friends.
SPEAKER_09Shout out to the one episode. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_12Where he said that loud and proud on the podcast.
SPEAKER_09Oh my god. That is not what I that is not what I meant. It's okay.
SPEAKER_02It's alright.
SPEAKER_09I understand.
SPEAKER_02Adobe!
SPEAKER_09Adobe! How do you think your relationship with the with the uh like the furry fandom Hail Jesus? Hail Jesus. How do you think your relationship with the whole with the fandom as a whole will change like as as you as you get older?
SPEAKER_03Ooh, that's a hard one to I see. I kind of like you with the last question. I don't know where to where I would see that going. I I would like to say the the fandom, I'm always gonna have some closeness with the fandom. Realistically, yeah, I guess it could fade off depending on the direction I go, but I also don't see myself going in any direction where the fandom isn't gonna be part of my life, especially while I'm in the city that I'm in too, because I have such a yeah, there's so much involvement here with the fandom. It's almost hard to get away from, especially because all my friends are in the fandom. Um, any events I go to are just around the fandom, right?
SPEAKER_04I forget what the question was. The question one more time.
SPEAKER_09I just want to make sure I circle back to the what uh how do you think your relationship with the fandom will change over time?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, in terms of it changing, I think it's already partially changed a tad because I've taken a step back to take a breather and I haven't been nearly as social as I used to be. Not saying that that won't come back around as well. All I can really say is time will tell. If I had to guess, I think it might lessen over the years, but I don't ever think it'll just poof completely. Yeah, I would like to go to Anthrocon 10, 20, 30 down the road. Whether that really happens, I don't know.
SPEAKER_09We'll see. Yeah, I totally agree. I would like to keep going to Anthrocon for as long as I can. I mean, it's okay, I'll at least have you one up. Yeah, unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to the next to this year, so I'll be I'll I'll I'll lose a point. So he'll have an extra stripe, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_03It would be nice to see where it is in like 10, 20 years. I've I've met people who've been to like MFF and they were there in the early days, and they they talked to me about how much that con has changed. And I know Anthrocon's changed a shit ton too, don't get me wrong. So I'm curious where it's gonna how it's gonna change in 10, 20 years, or if it'll even be around. It might not be. That would oh, that would suck. Yeah. Do you think Adobe rev represents your future self? No. No. No, he he represented what I strive to be out of college. And he's absolutely not my future self. Do you think Dobbs? Do you think Dobbs maybe? Yeah, I think Dobes is closer to that. And you know what? If y'all want to see Dobes, because I realize I had don't think I've posted him anywhere. Um, Ryu, either remind me when this episode comes out or someone poke me about it. I'll I'll post a photo of uh Dobes' headshot on the Twitter slash X. What are we in for a podcast? Uh so people can have a reference to what I'm talking about and what he actually looks like. I would put it in the video format on YouTube, but I'm probably too lazy to put that in. If I remember, whoa, wow, crazy. Look at this first ever graphic ever shown in the podcast before. Wow.
SPEAKER_09Everybody look at this screen. Look at the screen on YouTube.
SPEAKER_03Wow. Probably won't do that. Be pretty cool if I did. Um but yeah, Adobe is absolutely not my future self. Dobs, he's really just who I am now. I mean, and I don't really think that entail that that means that that's my future self either. So yeah. Hmm.
SPEAKER_09I guess we can close it out with a with the um No. You want to keep going?
SPEAKER_03I don't know. Probably got time for a few more.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I don't know. It's not my episode topic.
SPEAKER_09I can't take charge. I'm I'm honestly like getting kind of sick, and I kind of want to wrap it up. Oh, you're sick of me. Great. All right.
SPEAKER_03Well, you heard here, you heard here first, folks. Doesn't be my lifelong best friend, and he's sick of me. Hey guys, so I'm gonna start holding new best friend applications. Um I I I'll I'll take in as many as I come through, but it'll be it'll be a pretty aggressive selection. Um, I can't say a lot of you guys are gonna come through or receive uh the honor of becoming my new best friend. But if you guys are interested, uh I will be posting a link of whatever that might be. I'm just kidding. No, this is a bad bit. That's a bad bit. No, that's a that's a good bit. I go back to this bit. Yeah, so I'll be holding auditions actually. After the first wave of applicants come through, I'll be selecting up to 12 to audition.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03If you're a salamander, you already win.
SPEAKER_09Oh thanks.
SPEAKER_03Give me give me one more juicy question. One more to end send us off.
SPEAKER_09If your persona could tell your life story up to now, what would it say? What would it say? What would he say? What would Dobes say? It's been fun. What?
SPEAKER_10Lol. XD. You can't see you can't OWO uh radical free alright.
SPEAKER_09It's been I meant I meant kind of like describe like if you were first if you were if you were a Dobe or or I'm sorry, if you were Dobes or Yeah, if you were Dobes looking like observing your entire life, like what would like what would they say? Like like what would what would he say about you as a person? Could have tried harder. That's not true. Okay, maybe this is a bad question. It's a good question. I just like I can't get my mind to settle on one thing. My uh uh I I think Ryu would say Ryu would say that he was oh and no, maybe this isn't okay, okay.
SPEAKER_10Hold on, maybe this isn't a good question. Because you're answering how I would answer, but I'm just negating the answer. Um X3, U.
SPEAKER_09Pull in three, uh equal sign.
SPEAKER_11Well, I guess that's the end of the podcast. If you wanted, if you wanted, if you wanna fucking fuck me, if you wanna fucking if you guys want to be greedy, if you want to fucking kill me.
