The Dig - MGCB Roots Family Ministry
The Dig is a family discipleship tool for families at Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren (and more!) to DIG into last week's learning as a church family and prep for what's to come next week.
Our goal is to empower parents and spiritual family members to DEEPEN their understanding and application of scripture, IGNITE curiosity for what’s next and GROW as fruit-producing, God-glorifying disciples.
Deepen. Ignite. Grow. The Dig.

Hey Church Fam! It's time for Season 04!
This season will be designed to help our Church Family DEEPEN their understanding of scripture, specifically the book of Ephesians, as we spend the summer studying it together on the Pod!
Each week will include three mini-episodes to guide your household through Ephesians. Like always, we'll DEEPEN, IGNITE and GROW! Let's DIG in, together!
Hey Church fam, welcome to the Dig. This podcast is produced by Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren, and I'm your host, Janae McMichael, the director of Family Ministries here. The goal of this podcast is to empower parents and spiritual families to deepen their understanding, ignite their curiosity, and grow as fruit-producing God-glorifying disciples. Now the dig has been on the hiatus for a while, but we're back for an epic new season. It's summertime when we're recording these episodes, so this season is designed to be a tool for our church family to dig into God's word together. Instead of one longer episode per week, I'm going to release three mini episodes per week. Each episode is going to guide our church family as we dig into the book of Ephesians. On Mondays, we'll deepen our understanding. I'll share the scripture that we're going to read together that week, some themes for you to be on the lookout for, and some questions for your family to talk about or for you to think about on your own. On Wednesdays, we'll ignite our curiosity by digging into how what we're reading that week connects to the bigger story of the Bible and the good news of the gospel. You might hear some more discussion questions to think or talk about, or maybe a special mission based on that week's scripture reading. On Friday's episode will be a quick challenge to help you grow as a fruit-producing, God-glorifying disciple. You'll be encouraged to memorize scripture, pray, and live differently based on what we've read that week. This is going to be a really awesome season together. The Bible tells us that every time we come to God's word, it produces fruit in us. It does not return void. Let's dig into Ephesians, expecting God to teach us great things. Now, before you go, let me read to you Paul's introductory prayer to the church in Ephesus. It's my prayer for us too. This is Ephesians chapter 1, verses 15 through 23. For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all of God's people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us to believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age, but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be the head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. This is the word of the Lord. Amen.
