Hey everyone, welcome back to the podcast. Happy to have you tune in. Thanks so much for stopping by. Hopefully you've been here before. Hopefully you've listened to the channel before. If not, if this is your first time here, um this podcast is, well, I don't really know. It's about a little bit of everything, I think. The main thing being uh, you know, figuring out and learning and being aware of and and thinking about how we use what I call our most powerful tool, our mind, our brain, to live the best version of our life possible. Um, you know, there's the the mind is so powerful and the way it works is so complex and and complicated, and everything interacts with everything else, and if you're not careful, if you don't have the awareness of what your mind is doing and what your brain is doing, you know, it can it can impact you in a negative way. Um, so the goal of what we talk about on here is just talking through examples and talking through life and talking through things and and really just trying to promote what I call an awareness of how how our mind works and and giving some thought to to how we do life and what we do in life and you know are we are we living the best version of our life that we can possibly do. So that's the little intro. I do um I do talk about my horses on here a lot. I have horses that I train, I compete, um, you know, around the country, barrel racing. Uh, and you know what? If you if you haven't ever been around horses, I will tell you this, they teach you so much about life. Um they're they're so therapeutic for that reason because they teach us so much about living and about life and how to function in life and emotional awareness and all the stuff and things. So I do use the horses on here a lot to as kind of a catalyst of examples to talk about because they teach me a ton about life, and you know, I'm hoping that sharing that can help reach other people and and maybe give you some some things to think about. So, that all being said, you know, what I wanted to chat about on this podcast today is something that I have really been in my feelings and in my head about the past handful of weeks, and I know that this is a topic that every single person listening out there is going to be able to relate to. So, you know, I'm excited to highlight it, I'm excited to talk about it. But that all being said, what I've been really feeling lately is just this complete feeling of being overwhelmed, like there's not enough time in the day to get everything done, there's not enough hours in the day, there's not enough days in the week, I feel stretched in way too many directions, I don't feel like I'm doing anything well, like I'm doing all these things, but I don't really feel like I'm doing any of them uh, you know, a hundred percent to the best of my ability because I feel like my focus, my attention, my energy, everything is like stretched so thin. You know, I just I feel like I'm not doing anything really well. I I feel not like a failure, that's too strong of a word, but I I feel like I'm mini failing at a lot of different places, and I just I just have felt very overwhelmed, and that for me leads to feeling anxious and stressed, and then you know it's just like this snowball effect, at least it is for me. When when the the emotions start cascading, you know, you you tend to get in your head and you tend to spiral, and it just you kind of feel like you're going down like this this little rabbit hole, and it's hard to pull yourself back out of it. So that's what I have been kind of in my feelings and in my head about, you know, recently, and that's what I wanted to talk about on here today because again, the the point of this podcast is not to ever say that anyone has all the answers. It's not to, you know, I'm the one doing this podcast, it's never I'm never doing it from the lens of I have all the answers and I do it right all the time and I've got it all figured out, like absolutely not. Like the point of this podcast is to be like to be vulnerable and to be honest and to be like, yeah, you know what, like it gets messy sometimes, it gets hard sometimes, like sometimes you're just trying to figure it out, and the point of this podcast is to talk through all that stuff because with awareness comes power to shift, power to change, power to do something different, power to to take ownership back of whatever part of your life you feel like you've you've lost. Awareness brings power to to do it differently. And if you don't have the awareness of what is going on, or the awareness of what your mind is doing, the awareness of where you are in life, it's impossible to to have to have the knowledge and the empowerment to do it differently, or to do it better, or to change something. So when I highlight the stuff on here, that's that's the perspective I'm coming with. It's like, yeah, like I'm I'm struggling too with some things, and I want to share that with everyone out there because I know a lot of you are probably struggling with the same thing. So, like, let's talk about it and let's just I'm not saying we're gonna solve it all or solve it right now, but having the awareness of what is happening by default, that awareness will empower you to potentially make the changes where you need to make them being aware, being thoughtful, being being intentional about what you do in life is sometimes all that is required to do it better. So I've been in, like I said, I've been all in the thick of this the last several weeks, um, and it's self-imposed. I have done it to myself. Um if you've listened to this channel before, you know that I um work in healthcare, but I have a few different jobs. So I I do I do some work for medical devices, and then I also work um as needed for three different hospitals now. That's right, three, three of them. So I have my full-time job, and then I have um three different, you know, what they call per diem, as needed jobs at three different hospitals, and then I have these horses that I'm trying to train to compete, you know, against professional level competitors, so that takes up a lot of time. Plus, you know, you I have all the other normal stuff that everyone has in life, right? Houses, family, friends, bills to pay, doctor's appointments to go to, like just the normal stuff that everybody has to deal with, you know. And for those reasons, like I just feel like things have been very overwhelming the last several weeks. Um, I've been picking up a lot of extra shifts at the hospital. Again, self-imposed, no one's forcing me to do that. I'm doing it on my own because the opportunity to make the extra money is there. Um I feel like I should take advantage of it, right? And that's a normal, that's a normal, healthy kind of way to to look at it. I I think, you know, if it's like if you have it's like right now, these places that I these places that I'm on staff at, um, they're short staffed. Like they have they have some full-time positions that they're trying to fill, they have some people out on leave, you know, XYZ. So just they're in a they're in a period of time where there's a lot of opportunity for me working as a per diem employee to pick up extra shifts and make extra money. And of course, money's not everything, but we all it's a necessity, we all need it, and it's like if you have the opportunity to make a little extra money, put some in the bank, pay off some bills, pay off some debt, whatever it is that you're doing with it, it's like, well, this opportunity, you know, is not gonna be here forever. This is a temporary opportunity, so I feel internally, I feel like I should take advantage of it, and I should be working as much as I can and you know, putting this money away for a rainy day, using it to pay off some bills or whatever the case may be. The problem is that the other stuff in my life is still there, right? You know, I still have my full-time job, I still have the horses, I still have all the other normal life stuff that everybody's got going on, and the weeks are busy, and I have kind of started to feel it here recently because I've really been trying to work very hard the last few months, you know, like I said, trying to take advantage of the opportunity, work the shifts, you know, whatever. And I've like the last few weeks, I've really started to kind of feel it all like start to catch up with me, you know, like you feel like you're kind of falling behind, you're starting to feel a little overwhelmed, and that's what I want to talk about on here tonight because I I've I've used this saying before, and I love it, and you might have heard me say it before. But the reality is everything you do in life, every choice you make in life, every everything you pursue in life, everything you do in life is pulling you towards one thing and pushing you away from something else. Everything you do in life is is putting you toward one thing and taking you away from something else. And we get real bold sometimes, and we get real fool of ourselves sometimes, and we think we can we can multitask, we think we can do a thousand things at once, we think we can take on the world and not get exhausted at the end of the day. Like we, you know, we get we think oh, I can do this, like this is temporary, I can do this temporarily, like I can work my butt off temporarily and make this thing happen, accomplish this goal, do this thing, you know, and we think we're we're superheroes, and we are very good at at doing a lot nowadays. I mean, life is very complicated, our world is very complicated, and we are very good at trying to trying to manage it all and make make life happen, but the bottom line is you cannot go in two different directions at the same time, and there cannot be more than one priority at the same time, and no matter how good we think we are, and no matter how hard we think we can work, and and all this, and how good our intentions is, and and all the stuff and things, the bottom line is when you make a decision to throw yourself into something, whatever it is, when you make a decision to throw yourself into that thing, you are by default also making the decision to take yourself away from something else in your life. And this is an important reality that we don't I don't think we think about enough, and I don't think we are honest enough with ourselves about it is it is the truth, and pouring yourself into one thing is taking you away from something else. Like you are a limited resource, like your energy, your time, your emotional energy, your money potentially, like what like you and how you spend your your life is a limited resource. Like just this think about it the same way you would think about having a thousand dollars in your bank account. Like it's a it's it's a limited, finite amount of money. Like you have a thousand dollars in your bank account, you can choose to spend it however you want to spend it, but it's only a thousand dollars, so you you know, where you decide where you spend it, but you can only stretch it so thin. And you can't spend a thousand dollars on this and a thousand dollars on this and a thousand dollars on this, like it has to be considered a finite limited resource, and we need to do a better job about thinking about ourselves in the same way, like your life is the same way, your time and your energy and your emotional energy. When I say energy, I'm talking about physical and emotional, like physical, emotional, mental. Like your your time and your energy are limited resources, and if you give yourself to one thing, you are taking, you are allocating that resource to that one thing, which means that resource cannot be spent anywhere else. And so, for me, I I've been you know, and and that's the other thing, it's like don't lose the forest through the trees or or whatever. What is that saying? I don't like yeah, I think that's the right saying, like, don't get swept up in trying to do it all, and then realizing like you didn't do anything as well as you wanted to do it, or you didn't enjoy or experience anything as well as you wanted to experience it. Like, in my specific example, you know, part of the reason I I'm trying to take advantage of this work opportunity, and I'm trying to take advantage of that and and work and make as much extra money as possible while the opportunity is there, is because I do have what I call a very expensive hobby, like the horses, keeping the horses, training the horses, traveling with them to compete on them. That's a very um expensive hobby, you know. I s it cost a lot of money and it brings me a lot of great fulfillment, but it costs money. So part of the reason for wanting to to take advantage of making some extra cash, you know, and and putting and putting some extra money in my bank account is because it's like, oh well, I have like we're going to world finals in a month, me and the horses. Like, we that's a it's gonna be a long way to travel, it's gonna be an expensive week, and it's like, oh well, it'll be nice to have a little extra money, you know, to cover that trip. Like, that's just one example. But the problem is what what I am in the thick of is because I've been spending so much time working these extra shifts, I I'm struggling to like spend as much time keeping the horses in shape as I would like to be doing, given the fact that we're going to world finals in a month. I mean, this is kind of like this is the end of our season, like this is the big, this is the big hurrah, right? Like, this is what it's all for. It's like you you train and work all year to like go to world finals and and do your best and and showcase your your best your best self and you want to be in the best shape and you wanna you know you want to feel like you're ready physically, you know, physically and mentally ready. But I've been working all these extra hours trying to make extra money to make paying for the trip seem less daunting, and because of that, like I I mean I've I've been struggling to work the horses as much as I want. I've been struggling to work myself, like that's the other thing. I was like, I haven't been to the gym as much as I normally would like to be going. Like, I don't feel like I'm as fit physically as I need to be or would like to be. You know, I'm tired, I'm run down, you know, I I'm not prioritizing my own physical athletic ability or whatever you want to call it. So you can see how you get into this rut or this it or this cycle where you know you're try it's like you're trying to do all the things, but it's like you're losing it's like you're losing out on certain parts of your life because there's only so mu there's only so much of you to go around, there's only so much resource to go around. So now potentially in this case, and it's not it's not I'm kind of exaggerating the point a little bit because I want to make the point very clear. Um, you know, I haven't I haven't fallen off the deep end or anything. Like we're we're gonna be fine, but I'm just saying in in this example that I'm talking about, like imagine how unfortunate that would be if I spent all this extra if I spent all this time and energy trying to work these extra hours to try to make enough money to make traveling to world finals, you know, feel more comfortable and be more at peace with the money being spent and XYZ, but then I can't even but then I get down there to world finals and I can't even enjoy it because I feel ill-prepared, like I feel like I didn't prepare myself, I feel like I didn't prepare my horses, I feel like we didn't physically train the right the way we should, I feel exhausted. You know, it's just it's that's very unfortunate, and I feel like we do that to ourselves in a lot of ways. Like we try to stretch ourselves too thin, and then what you realize is in the effort to do it all to make life more enjoyable, what you did is you actually robbed yourself of an experience. You actually robbed yourself of enjoying something to your fullest capability. It doesn't mean you don't enjoy it at all. I mean, if we go to if I go down there to world finals and we do well, but maybe in the back of my head I'm like, oh, we could have done better if, you know, if I would have trained a little harder or put more time into the horses, you know, the last month. Like, it's still gonna be enjoyable, but it's not going to be the level of enjoyment that it potentially could be if you had not spread yourself so thin prior. So I hope that that I mean, I just hope that that speaks to somebody out there because I know this is I know every single person out there has probably been here, has felt this, has felt these feelings of overwhelmed, feeling like you're stretched too thin, feeling like you're trying to do it all, but you're not really doing anything to the best of your ability because you're just you're too your resources are just all over the place, and you're not able to dedicate enough of yourself to any one particular thing to make the experience the best it can possibly be. I think pretty much everyone out there has been there before, and you know, again, I don't have any I'm not saying I have any magical answers, I'm not saying I don't struggle with it myself. The goal of this is to talk about it, to have to have the awareness, just to have the awareness, because once you once you really have that awareness, you you are empowered to become more intentional about the choices you make, the things you do, and and how you how you go forward and what you do tomorrow. So again, hopefully this speaks to somebody out there. Give this some thought, you know. You're yes, we are you are amazing, but we are not we are not superheroes, and we only have so much energy, we only have so much time, and you have to be realistic. You have to be realistic about that, or else you're just going to spread your yourself, your the resource of yourself, you're gonna spread it so thin that you're not able to fully a hundred percent experience the things you want to experience to the best of your capability. Alright, thanks for tuning in, guys. I hope everyone has a great rest of your week and we will talk again soon. And yeah, that's it. Alright, bye.
