Well, friends, we have some news!

There’s no drama or big turn of events…our amazing producer is pivoting her career and that made us look at what it would be like to continue.

SPEAKER_00

This is the Unsolicited Business Advice Podcast. We're Amanda and Callie, founders, moms, and friends who believe your heart is valid and your way is good enough.

SPEAKER_01

Around here, we skip the buttoned-up LinkedIn talk and dive straight into real conversations about growing a startup, balancing motherhood, and rejecting the hustle culture. Consider this your weekly reminder that business can actually feel joyful again. Episode Episode number 30, because Amanda was counseling me before the episode started, and I had to stop her because I was about to cry. So there it is. That's actually the perfect way to start this episode.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because that's 100% true.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. This is episode 30.

SPEAKER_01

Episode 30, and we have a little bit of news.

SPEAKER_00

We do.

SPEAKER_01

Part of it you say that we do. It's partly sad.

SPEAKER_00

It is partly sad. But also, I think because I'm still like in it, and they always say, like, don't share from the wound, which I hate that word. Don't share from the word wound.

SPEAKER_01

It's just it's hard to say.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's like, I don't know what it is. Okay. It's like wound and ointment. I don't know what it is. Okay. I don't yeah. Wow. Another story, another day. Wow. Maybe. All right. Um, but they say, like, don't share from the wound, share from the scar. And I think for me, I mean it makes sense. You don't? No. I don't in all things, some things. I don't think you should teach from the like while you're in in it, like let it heal some, but I think you can share from it because it's very most of the time it's very really good.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe that's the reason the whole world won't go to counseling. Because they're because they're trying not to uh share from the share from the messy. Yeah, from the messy. Well, yeah, because we think like it's just fine.

SPEAKER_00

I would sharing from the right. That's why I think like share and teach is two different things. Totally different. Yeah. Sometimes. So yeah, yeah. So yes.

SPEAKER_01

Wow. Back on track here.

SPEAKER_00

Squirrel. Yeah. So episode 30. Yes. Will be the last episode. The last episode.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

As of right now. Right. We can't see the future. We have no crystal ball. I would love to.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe. So our producer is quitting.

SPEAKER_01

She thinks we suck so bad. She had to change care. No change careers.

SPEAKER_00

No, the first part of this is our producer Cassidy. I'm going to talk to you because that's you're right behind the camera. In the room. And yeah, and that would feel weird. Um is going a different direction in her business and came to us saying, I'm going a different direction in my business based on all of the amazing unsolicited advice you've given me. Um and so she presented us with like there's not the capacity and the space is changing.

SPEAKER_01

So we talked ourselves out of a podcast. Like we did this to ourselves.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my that's I'm kind of proud of that. I'm totally proud of that. It's a weird thing to be proud of. This is what it was for. We were asking that. Yeah. Um, but it really coming up, her coming to us with that information gave us, put us, nope, not didn't put us in a situation, brought us to the situation of what we wanted to do. Yeah. Do we want to continue? Which means finding another space to record, finding another producer that we literally walk in and it's ready for us, and she X like does her thing and exports it and sends it to us. And to have to find somebody who makes that process so easy, yeah, and sounds so good. Yeah, like you make us sound real good. Yeah. So thank you. Yeah. I don't like right now, I feel at peace not going and finding that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Which for me is weird. I am a like forever, never amen person.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. I know that about you. It's also weird for me that when she said that, I was like, oh, right, yeah. This is supposed to stop right now. I don't know what that meant for me, yeah, but it that's what came up. But after upon reflection, oh, yes, didn't that sound smart? Um, I was thinking it's actually kind of perfectly tied up with a neat little bow because this whole podcast, I feel like, has been about doing your thing, your purpose, your craft, your message, getting that out to the world without the need for anything back.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And what what we've done here is we've put together, you know, taken our time, taken Cassidy's time, and put together 30 podcasts for hopefully people out there that are in the business world or even just women in general, I feel like you catered to that crowd. Um that maybe in some small way might help them at some point, but we might never know. And that's okay. Yeah. And and that's the beautiful thing about that to me is that's what I really wish everyone would do is just say their thing, be their, you know, imperfect selves, and and and then just leave it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Just just drop it out there in the world because you're supposed to and because that's who you are, and then walk away without any sort of accolade or metal or you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And we we did that, and that's cool.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And I think that it was interesting this whole thing, because like we never went out to find sponsorships.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I kind of thought about it because I'm like, we are investing in for Cassie to do the thing. And for it, because we would have not made it to 30 episodes if either one of us were responsible for recording and editing an episode.

SPEAKER_01

No, you're exactly really.

SPEAKER_00

I think we would we've gotten past one.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think you're right.

SPEAKER_00

Because it would have been bad, and then I'd have been like, no.

SPEAKER_01

And that might be why most people quit before 10.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because this is not easy. It's a lot more work. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Which is we did invest in it. And so it's like we didn't look for sponsorships to then tell us you guys are worth paying to do this. I mean, we saw like the analytics on Buzzsprout, which like, I mean, they're just numbers. So they I didn't like I we weren't comparing them, except for like the people that make it past 10 episodes. After that, we were like, cool, the numbers keep rising. Right. Um, we weren't asking for feedback.

SPEAKER_01

No. We just did it to do it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Because I remember like being on a walk talking to you, saying, like, I'm listening to Amy Polar's podcast. And like it's, I just I think if we had a podcast or did something, it would be that stupid, funny, like, we don't really like we care, but we don't care. And it's just to like bring more fun. Yeah. And you were like, sweet, let's do it. And I was like, okay. So we did. And then Cassidy came into our lives in a really interesting way. Cause like we had coffee, and I was like, I have a question about podcasting. We don't know what we're doing, and it sounds terrible. And you're like, I can help with this, like this rate. Yes. And then she came in and looked at what we were doing, and she's like, This you guys are morons. And she was so kind and said, Well, this is what is this called? A roadcaster? This is a roadcaster. I'm pointing to the thing that has a lot of buttons and levers that makes us sound really good. And she's like, You guys can purchase this. I can train you how to use it, and you guys can do this. I looked it up, it was like $1,200. And I was like, No, I have zero want to buy it or to learn.

SPEAKER_01

That's what I was gonna say. The bigger issue would have been like, are you kidding me?

SPEAKER_00

You're gonna learn about that. And then editing it, because like I'm watching myself, and I'm like, ugh. And so we knew, and I think you had said this, Kel, like, if if she wouldn't have came to the coffee shop and showed us what she does for us to hear how it sounded, we wouldn't have seen the investment. Yeah. And but when she did, we were like, we can't. Oh, we can't live without you, actually. So it was genius. Yeah. I don't know if we ever told you that, but no, yeah. So you showed us your worth like immediately. Um for sure. So yeah, so I think for me, I try to reflect similar to you, of like, okay, what was this for? Like, why did this come up? How did it work out so perfectly? It was seemed very easy. Yeah. What like what was this part of my our lives for? And for me, I think it was having well, one, I think I built a lot of self-confidence in the conversations that we had and learned a lot just from your perspective on things. Because I think it's oh I don't know, you're welcome. Um, but I learned a lot from your perspective on things of like really like at the end of the day, how simply things can be. Um so I think I got a lot of perspective, confidence in myself of like I really I feel like I ask really good questions. And so like I helped myself like actually believe that because people tell me that. But then also I think I needed to have that conversation about the restlessness out loud. Yeah. And so thank you again for uh helping me sit through that. Yeah, that was really kind.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Um what about you? So yeah, I it's interesting that you said all that. I I think this was for a lot of reasons, some of which I don't think we'll ever know. But just like with everything else in my life, and we talked about this early on, um there are things in life that feel like you're being pulled towards them. And then there are things in life that we do that you feel like you're kind of pushing. Yeah. And this was definitely a pulling moment. And so in that, in that regard alone, it's just nice to have more of those moments so you know what you're feeling. So this was just another one of those things that I'm like, okay, God, I got you. I can do that. I have no idea why. But um cool. Yeah, let's do it. And also a really long time ago, I don't know if you remember this, but we're on the phone. We haven't seen each other in two years. Probably hadn't talked in almost as long, and you randomly called me. And we were talking about kids and business stuff, and I said, I don't think we're done. Like, I don't think there's more that we have to do. And this was definitely one of those more. And and we still have more in us, you and I.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But it's also nice to know that I had that feeling and then it happened.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So just another burn that trust muscle. Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's such a good way to say that because yeah, and I want to do more of that in my life. And I feel like this is one of those stepping stones. But what I have loved most about it is that one, it it gives me an outlet to having a good conversation. Because I am not a very I'm I'm gonna say this, you're gonna be like, what the hell does that have to do with anything? I'm not a very good friend, and I know that. Um but it's because my friendships take a priority or take a backseat as far as priority goes to other things in my life, and right or wrong, that's just the way it is.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You've always seemed to understand that better than most people. But this podcast gave me the excuse and opportunity to make our friendship our priority. And so now I know that's not something I want to give up. So that was also good for me. Yeah. It's just funny. It's funny how these things work. And it's funny where it ends up. And I think well, I know I know that there are at least a few women out there that genuinely needed the conversation.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And if that's all we did it for, for sure, then heck yeah. Yeah. That's awesome.

SPEAKER_00

And the cool thing is that they live on the internet. True, true. So it's not going away. True. I think it's worth $19 a month to keep them going.

SPEAKER_01

So you know all these things.

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's only because I get the reminder. Gotcha. Gotcha. Your card went through this month. Yes. Yes. And I think we talked about like no matter how many questions, scenarios, themes come in, there were really like three answers. Like deep answers. Like, obviously, there's the topical, like normal business aspect. Like practical things that you could talk about. But I think we said this at the end of the last one when we were talking about like ending. It's like there's always more than the options that are present. You can always go move on the side of a mountain.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely can. With nothing. Yes, you can.

SPEAKER_00

And then um, personal responsibility. Yeah. What is like how are you playing?

SPEAKER_01

Like what's your part in this? I love that you just boiled that down in such a simple way. Yeah. I mean, I totally yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So also, if that's all we did, right, that's also pretty darn important.

SPEAKER_00

That's it's like if you're in any whatever situation, it's like, okay, like what is my part in this? What have I done? Yeah. What am I, what's being mirrored back to me?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And like, is there another option? Yeah. And being open to that. Yeah. Yeah. Even if it's an option you don't really want to face. I just got chills. Oh.

SPEAKER_01

Partly because it's cold in here, but also partly because that was actually a really good point. The really ladder. Simplicity. Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's why I got you.

SPEAKER_00

Which for me is a meat and potatoes talks too much. Simplicity is and you're the one that just pulled it up. With that. That was awesome. You're welcome. Welcome. Awesome. So there's no drama. No drama. It's really, and I will, I think in my old self would have been like, and I was actually talking to my sound healer about this because I'm like, it feels kind of lazy to not go and find another way to do this. She's like, why is that lazy? And I was like, I don't know. And she's like, how does it feel? Like, how does it feel to move forward and how does it feel to be done for right now? And I was like, I'm kind of at peace with either one. And she's like, let's go with that, rather than I'm lazy because I don't want to go find another producer. Yeah. And then have to deal with maybe expectations that can they meet them or not?

SPEAKER_01

Thank God for that sound healer.

SPEAKER_00

I know.

SPEAKER_01

I just thought of another reason we just did this.

SPEAKER_00

Oh.

SPEAKER_01

Most people don't know what a sound healer is. They now do.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. If you need one, Karen is, uh, she's great. I feel bad for her name. She doesn't because she's like, I don't give two F's, right? But um she would have to, I think, in that field. Oh, yeah, for sure. Literally, field. Wow.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Well, with all of that, uh, I mean, if you want to hire us to come do like a live version, you're gonna have to like we're a You're gonna have to fight with Netflix though, because we are their top recruit. So we're in conversation.

SPEAKER_01

You gotta pay more than Netflix to have us. In conversation. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Not really. Pretty famous. Yeah. Um well I think that would be cool. Like to shoot and to have like at a conference or and I'm not saying all this to be like, but I think that would be cool. That would be so fun.

SPEAKER_01

You know, make the biggest dream ever is to like do that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. You knew that about me? What to talk on stage?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I love speaking. I love that's cool that you've put yourself in a coffee shop. Oh, behind a counter. So true. Hmm.

SPEAKER_01

Just stand up on the bar. That's a stage. There you go.

SPEAKER_00

It's a different kind of stage.

SPEAKER_01

That is a different kind of stage.

SPEAKER_00

It's a different kind of stage.

SPEAKER_01

Surprisingly, we've gotten off topic again.

SPEAKER_00

We have, apparently.

SPEAKER_01

No, I would like to start a season two.

unknown

Oh God.

SPEAKER_01

I would like to say before we kill this, is that um I hope for everyone out there listening, and we actually do have listeners, we can actually see the numbers. Yeah. So I hope for all of you guys that you go do something that you feel pulled towards without having any idea why you're doing it or what it's for, or where it ends up, or if it ever matters.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know?

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

And that's what I hope for. I hope that because this was definitely worth it for me.

SPEAKER_00

I agree. So now I'm gonna have to drive to Centralia at least every other week. To hang out with you and fight for your attention with all your customers. Callie over here. Um, yeah. Well, thank you for going on this journey. Yeah, me too. That was fun. Thank you, Cassidy. For going on this journal. This journal. Thanks, there'll be a journal entry on this journey with us. And we're excited to see what you do too. Yeah. Obviously, you have a big heart and a big amazing skill set. So yeah. And if you pick up another podcast and don't tell us, we're gonna know that it was actually us. It was just us. She was done with. Yes. Uh, and thank you for all the listeners for being here.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And if you have any ideas of like you're like, we want more, yeah, but know that we're not gonna do maybe what it takes to make this happen again, we're all ears.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I like that idea. Yeah, see where the next step takes us, and yeah, if we feel pulled towards it, let's go that direction. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And this episode was more I don't like when like things just stop and there's no closure to know why or what happened. And so I think the conversation was necessary based on just what we talk about, anyways, but just so you don't have to think about it. You just know that this is what happened.

SPEAKER_01

Actually, there was a lot of drama. It was a cat fight, we pulled each other's hair, it was awful because we couldn't get along. Yeah. Is that more fun?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, for sure. When we walk out the door, we're gonna split ways and never talk to each other. Talk to each other again. You're stuck with me forever, whether you like it or not.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I figured.

SPEAKER_00

All right. Well, thank you all. Thank you, thank you. Good luck. See you next time.
