New Testament Bible Passage: John 11:30-44
April 7, 2019 Sermon: Peace Presbyterian Church, Elkhorn, Nebraska
Rev. Bonnie Wilkins, PCUSA
The hope of the resurrection and the promise of eternal life in our faith and understanding allows us to live life-in all its circumstances-to the glory of God–just as Jesus promised. We are not the final determiners of the fate of the church or the fate of God’s people. That is God’s realm, not ours. Hope reminds us that Jesus loves us-sometimes with tough love like a parent to a child. Jesus weeps with us and for us. Jesus laughs and celebrates with us. Jesus stays with us and waits for us. Our hope is built on nothing less. Our faith doesn’t get stronger because we face death and live. It strengthens as we believe in God’s promises and live with Christ’s hope in us. That’s all Jesus asks of us---push the stones away and let Jesus’ love live in you.
The gospel message to you today is: Come-out from your tombs! Claim Christ’s hope and the promises that come with it, so you can be fully alive in the eternal life that only Christ brings to you each day, in every event or challenge.
