Quick Update And July Pause

Hey everybody. Here's a quick short episode of Rush Hour. It's just me by myself. I'm Cody. And just wanted to update you guys on why we haven't been doing some episodes recently. We've been we decided to take the rest of the month of July off from Rush Hour. Ashley's been going crazy on Kids Jam stuff. Brittany's been helping with that, and so have I. So it's been all kids jam all the time. And then I'll be out of town next week with Erica going to Rise and Shine Girls Camp at Howes Mill in West Virginia. Gonna be helping them out a little bit. I'm not actually part of the girls' camp because I'm not allowed to be, but I can help set some stuff up and help get things ready for whatever they're gonna be doing next down there at camp. And so just a little bit of an assistant for Erica, but that'll be fun. And figured I'd just jump on and update you guys, let you know that we will be not putting out any new episodes until August. We'll be back then.

Kids Jam Needs More Volunteers

But we do have upcoming stuff that I wanted to keep you guys informed on, like Kids Jam coming up. We need a few more crew leaders, I think, still. We're good, but it'd be helpful if we had some more crew leaders. And if you haven't signed up yet to volunteer to help out with Kids Jam, would love to have you come check it out. It's a blast, it is a good time. Usually about a hundred kids, you know, start off with like 90, and then we get up over a hundred as the week goes on. The worship is fantastic. We have the whole place decked out as you guys will see come Sunday, and as the week goes, cool decorations. The energy is really cool, really big. We have our four teams, our four groups for kids jam, and we have crafts and games and dinner, all these different things and challenges. It's really cool. Love what love what it's turned into. It's always a lot of fun for the kids and high energy and a whole week full of good times. But if you haven't signed up to help or signed your kids up yet, you can do that at rushturch.com uh under the kids damn tag, and there's uh forms that you can fill out to sign your kids up, and also sign up if you want to volunteer. Please do that as soon as possible so we can get uh all the numbers and stuff ahead of time, good to go. But helping out is really easy, and then there's always lots of delicious snacks for volunteers and iced coffee, which is my favorite part. Always grab a few iced coffees throughout the night to keep you going. But crew leaders, all you have to do is just take kids where they need to go, take them to the game station, they play games, take them to uh their lessons, take them to craft, and just kind of lead them around, make sure they're good, have fun with them, you know. Conversations with, you know, maybe new meet some new kids and just build relationships with these cool kids that are gonna be here. But that's kids jam. Just want to update you about that. Let's see.

Next Series On God’s Character

And and I wanted to let you guys know that our next series for rush hour is gonna be something I've been teaching in my class on Sunday mornings, my first class at 9:30. I usually do seventh through ninth grade first service, and we've been going through the character of God, and so I just kind of wanted to do that with you guys on rush hour as well. Brittany and Ashley will be back, and we're gonna talk about Exodus 34, 6 through 7. This is kind of where God describes himself, tells Moses who he is, the characteristics of God. And so I thought it'd be cool to kind of go through each one of these in an episode coming up in August and a little bit in September. But just to kind of, you know, I've been doing it for my class on Sunday mornings and thought maybe some of you guys would be interested in that. But I'm just gonna read Exodus 34, six through seven, and then kind of tell you about the series. So it starts out the Lord passed before him, talking about Moses, and proclaimed this the Lord the Lord, God, merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for the thousand generation, forgiving iniquity and transgress transgressions and sins, yet by no means clearing the guilty. He's talking to Moses, he passes before him and says, I am a God who is merciful, who is full of grace, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. So we're gonna look at those characteristics that God calls himself. And in this, these two verses, the list of God's characteristic traits found in Exodus 34, 6 through 7, is the most repeated and re-quoted text in the Bible. So the authors of the Bible, they come back to this section the most. They come back to these two verses and quote them more than any other section of Scripture. I thought that was a really interesting point. When people are thinking about God after the Exodus and after this is written, uh they think about God when they're writing about God, they come back to these two verses in Exodus 34, and they say, they re-quote them and they repeat them more than any other text. And I think that says something. There's something here in the adverse that tells us who God is. And this is, you know, the Old Testament part where Moses is or Moses is getting to hear God's voice and God tell him who he is, and he's all about compassion and grace and loyal love, faithfulness, and he's slow to anger. And we're gonna go into that a little bit deeper on the next rush hour podcast when Britney and Ashley are back and we'll talk about it together.
