Sir Brian. Hello. And Tommy, as always. We're still in the book of Galatians. We've been trying to do some of the ringing out the wrongest to bring to you once we get done with Galatians. I look forward to getting some responses from those. Those have been fun. We're getting closer to the date of our big fundraiser coming up in a week. Technically. This Saturday, our brother Jacob is getting married. It's good and I'm glad. I keep forgetting. So I need to make sure I remember. I need to get a hold of him and make sure. I just think I message a little bit ago that my suit is ready and they wouldn't let me wear shorts, so I'm not crazy about that. I haven't showed you my new haircut that I want, have I? No. I've almost got enough. What monstrosity is it? I think it would be really awesome. And I'm almost there. And I could dye it orange to go with the beard. Oh my goodness. Remember that Christmas heat miser? Oh, yeah, yeah. I would definitely be the heat miser. Yeah. Uh, if anybody doesn't know yet, I'm a bald guy and I got the cul-de-sac that grows in natural. I've got a video where the guy has gotten flames faded up from the bottom up, and it's I think it's fantastic, especially if I die at orange. I like to have fun. I mean, you know what? If I'm gonna be bold, it's have fun with it. Obviously, I'm single because I don't know that a woman in my life would allow that. But yeah, I'm looking forward to that. But uh, that's this Saturday coming up, uh, Jacob's wedding. And then the following Saturday will be our big fundraiser, which is fantastic. Absolutely, man. Looking forward to it. Yeah, we were talking about a little bit ago. Um, the Juggler for Jesus guy. Uh, we are big fans of his. Brian was saying that it's it's way better than it should be, which is kind of funny. Um, but I found out recently to a friend that he actually has a juggling museum at his house, which is kind of cool. I never would have thought of that, but you know, I I would actually like to see it at this point, you know. Like, I wonder what that's like. Um, but yeah, we got that going on. Um, we've got a couple new uh helpers here at the gathering that have been helping with the A V system, which is awesome. I like having somebody that has a little more knowledge than me in that kind of area, not that I know anything, uh, but our projector is working. Our sound system is definitely a lot better than what it was. Um, hopefully before too long, we may even have like movie night with the projector. That sounds wonderful. That would be awesome. We could do like the David series, or we could do all those things, you know. Or as Brian would probably love, we'd do a Ghostbusters night. So, what's been going on in your world here at the gathering, Brian? Anything good?
SPEAKER_02Let's see. Uh well, we are uh kind of uh uh we're doing well. There's there's a lot of things changing, uh a lot of a lot of um let's call it growth. Not changing. There you go, growth. Let's talk about that's a good call.
SPEAKER_00The community might not see it as growth.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, fair enough. But you know, it is growth. Yeah. And and and uh and and people um people people uh taking up and and and cleaning up after themselves with wonderful, and then uh and then people uh uh also also telling other people not to do the things they themselves would have done. It tickles me, it really does. So yeah. I'm just like, are you saying that?
SPEAKER_00That's funny. I I and I don't I don't mean it this way, but it it is like equating watching your child, yeah, you know, the the fruits of your labor for your children.
SPEAKER_02Brother, you said it once, and I and I sc I I I scolded you say these these are these some of these people are adults, brother, but no, I I I've seen them and I think really that's that's the first step in and doing the hand up, I think.
SPEAKER_00You know, getting them to start respecting themselves and other people again because they've been beat down and they've been downtrodden and we see how people look at them. We see how people talk about them, and we hear it in circles everywhere. You know, they don't see them as you know an image bearer of God, but they don't see them as a child of God.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if I should talk about that, but uh I I've heard some people express uh that um those notions that we should see them as other people, and I don't uh I I I I said that I hadn't. I I was like I don't see them as different people. Just we're we're all here.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, just yeah, I mean agreed with that. I mean that's the thing that I think has been the big thing here is treating them with respect, treating them like human beings. I I've got a gentleman that I'm dealing with um talking about doing the transitional living, you know, being able to talk to them as people, as men, as women, and not hold our noses up on them or anything like that. That's that's part of the love that we talk about. When you love, you don't do that, you don't treat people like that. You treat people the same. All right, so we're gonna go ahead and do Galatians 4. I'll be honest, when I read it, I had some issues with the translation that I was reading in the beginning. So, of course, because I have the digital, I have all kinds of different translations that I can look at and read. So we'll let Brian get us started here, and I'll stop when I see something that we should talk about. Or you can stop us, Brian, for that matter.
SPEAKER_02Alright, I'll begin. Uh Pericabe says, Sonship in Christ. How important is that? And we've been talking about that. Huge man. Now I say, as long as the heir is a child, he does not differ at all from a slave, although he is owner of everything. But he is under guardians and stewards until the date set by the father. So also we, while we were children, were enslaved under the elemental things of the world. But when the fullness of this time came, God sent forth his son, born of a woman, born under the law, so that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of a sons. And because you are sons, God sent forth the spirit of his son into our hearts, crying, Allah, Father. Therefore, you are no longer a slave, but a son. And if a son, then an heir through God.
SPEAKER_00I want to stop you there. And give me your thoughts on that. Give me your perspective on that. Yeah. Yeah. I I want to hear how I mean I have an idea of what you're gonna say, but I want you to say it. Uh dumbfounded. Come on, you can do better than that. But you're right, you're absolutely right. And after reading Romans 8, uh flower gasted.
SPEAKER_02Um that's a pretty big blinkie. And that's exactly it, man. That is exactly it. But uh, but yeah, uh, no, uh overjoyed, over overwhelmed. Um in a good way. Yes.
SPEAKER_00But uh like how much of the gospel do we see in those seven verses, do you think? Do you see them? Do you not see them? No, go ahead. Um, now I say as long as their heir is a child, so we're talking about the time before Jesus, we're talking about um he is under guardians and stewards until the date set by the Father, which would be the Pharisees, the Sadducees, the law. So also we were while we were children, we were enslaved under the elemental things of the world. What did that look like in the first century? You know, we were slave to desires and passions and gold and money, and we see that in the Pharisees because they were on the high place and not on the low place and those things. But when the fullness of the time came, when the time was right, God sent forth his son, born of a woman under the law. Okay, the Mosaic Law. So he was born under the law, which means he would have lived by the law, he would have been Jewish, so that he might redeem those who are under the law, and we might receive the adoption as sons. That's where we become heirs to Jesus, or half-brothers, as you like to say, my brother in heaven. And because you are sons, God sent forth the Spirit, which is the Holy Spirit, of his son into our hearts, crying, Abba Father. The emotion to that, in my opinion, should be expressed probably more than it does. As men, you know, we're raised, you throw some dirt on and you can't cry. But again, I was talking about seeing my dad look at me and go, please stop doing these things. Please stop making me disciplined, please stop making this hard for all of us and for you and things. So I see that as how emotional that is. God sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts crying, Abba Father. If we're not doing that, is that the hole that is in us that we are trying to fill with elemental things of the world? Absolutely. I mean we try to fill ourselves with these things that will make us feel accepted, to make us feel alright, to make us feel good, you know, all those things. But the only thing is Baba, Father. And unfortunately, in the world and the society we live in, dad is not what he needs to be.
SPEAKER_02But if we talk take it back to the prodigal son, too. Uh the son wants the inheritance, leaves, and doesn't realize everything that he had. So the thing is, is when we also cry, Ah the father, we don't yet realize that the father everything comes, everything good comes from him. Yes, and if we call him father, yeah, then we can have those things.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and and and I'm glad you brought the prodigal son up because if you continue to read that, we focus a lot on the prodigal son coming back. We don't focus on the son that stays the son that stayed. He gets jealous, he gets upset. And what does the father say to him? He says, It was yours all along. Agreed. You've been here the whole time, it's always been yours. You did not need my permission to do the things that I am doing for your younger brother. Um, and that's another thing is if you think about it, he should have seen it because the only way to give the second his inheritance is to give the first his inheritance. Correct? You can't give the second his inheritance before the first.
SPEAKER_02That's correct.
SPEAKER_00The first has to get it first, and then the second, look at Jacob and Esau.
SPEAKER_02Well, and and let's not pass over the fact that the father would would be dead. That's that as well, too.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. So it's a very interesting kind of dynamic with all that, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So essentially, in taking the in taking the wealth, he essentially says, Dad, I wish you were dead, and then and then takes it and goes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So uh, and then think about our Christian life, our Christian walk. Yes, we run around in the world, roaming in the desert, and then sometimes, not all the times, we find our way back. And we have a father who is waiting with open arms, who is running out to get us. Absolutely. And that's the beautiful thing that people miss out on with God. They think that he's just gonna smack us and drop us into a big fiery pit. So, yeah, but again, when I say the gospel, he sent forth his son born of a woman. You know, there it is. God sent his only begotten son to die for our sins, to bring us back into the fold, to bring us into adoption as sons and daughters. So, because you are sons of God, sent forth the Spirit, which is our advocate, the Holy Spirit, to keep us from making dumb mistakes and doing dumb things. Some of us don't listen to him as well as we should. I am one that has been guilty of that. Me too, brother. Me too. Alright, verse 8.
SPEAKER_02However, at that time when you did not know God, you were slaves to those which by nature are no gods. But now, having known God, or rather, having been known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and the worthless elemental thing to which you want to be enslaved all over again? You observe days and months and seasons and years. I beg of you, brothers, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You have done me no wrong. But you know that it was because of a bodily illness that I proclaimed the gospel to you the first time. And that which was a trial to you in my bodily condition, you did not despise alone. But you received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus and Where then is that sense of blessing that you had? For I testify to you, if possible, you would have plucked out your own eyes and given them to me. So have I become your enemy by telling you the truth. They zealously seek you, not commendably, but they wish to shut you out so that you will zealously seek them. But it is good always to be zealously sought in a commendable manner, and not only when I am present with you, my children, with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you. But I could wish to be present with you now and to change my tone because I am perplexed about you.
SPEAKER_00Does that last part kind of sound like the teachers away, the kids will play?
SPEAKER_02But also too that Jesus leaves and then everybody kind of loses their mind, and he's like, Why? You you know what's been done. Why are you Yeah?
SPEAKER_00That was a big one there when he said that. Was it for nothing? I fear for you that perhaps I have labored over you for nothing. Oh my heart kind of sank on that one. But how many times, again, when we're lost in the desert, when we're wandering around in the desert and we've lost our way, have we done that? Yeah, I mean, there's a lot here that it's just it's heartbreaking to read and think about our own lives. And and that's the one thing that I like about this class we're doing tonight, the 70 times 7. If uh if you have opportunity to do that out there, I recommend doing it. But it is not easy, it is a difficult class, and if you're not ready for it, you'll know after the first class, but it'll also give you an idea of what you need to do to be prepared for it. But seeing the people's eyes opened, keeping seeing the people understand, like, oh, oh, I love it, it's fantastic. Um, because I know it's growth, I know that they're they're they're growing, I know that it's a good thing for them. Um, I know it was a good thing for me, it's a good thing for everybody.
SPEAKER_02Um tell me. Uh I was talking with uh I feel wrongus coming. But I I was talking with Rongus. Wrongus Steve the third and uh we were talking about the uh the armament of God and and this might another be another uh ringing out of the wrong is okay to be considered. But here, just let's touch on it for a little bit right now, okay? So um you ever thought about the armament of God? Like like genuinely thought about it, like like does it make sense to you?
SPEAKER_00Well, I mean, the only thing I can think of is one, he doesn't really need it, but I understand that we need it. Agreed, yeah. Uh put on the full armor of God. Yes. Um so yeah, um but does God need to be armored up? Does he need to have armorment?
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, no. Again, all right, so uh let's let's kind of take some of them. Right? Because again, this might be like something to talk in depth. The helmet of salvation. Why is that? Did it take our thoughts captive? Ah, that's a very good call. Yeah. But it could also be that salvation should uh calm our mind.
SPEAKER_00It should. You're right. That's a good call. Protect our mind. Yes. I mean it should. And we've talked about it before. How many Christians will say, Hope, I hope I'm going to heaven. Agreed. You should have a calm mind and understand and know. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Alright. Yeah, I like that. So so what about what about our our borrowed breastplate of righteousness?
SPEAKER_00It's to protect our heart because we gotta guard our heart above all else. Yes. And where do we miss God?
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_00Agreed. Yes.
SPEAKER_02But do you understand though?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I and I think when we follow this logic, uh, the rest of them kind of pan out as well, too. So I it it said it tells us to you know, kind of keep up this fight. And what is that fight? I'm sure it looks like a lot of different ways. And it's and if our battles are spiritual, the just GI idea of understanding what each of those armaments are.
SPEAKER_00Would you say that a good um a good example would be sin in itself? I mean, that's basically what we have to protect ourselves from is sin. And we've said before that it's not good versus evil, it's God versus sin. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Well, but also too, now think about those those uh those sins or those um those spirits uh uh again like leading us away. Uh you have you have the example there of the the Christians who uh you know I I hope so, I hope that that's my my aim. Like and and and not to make light but uh of of those of that situation, but um that is something leading them away from the truth, and and and we have to guard ourselves from these things, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'll leave that I'll table that conversation for a few, but we'll we'll come back to it. Yeah, it says in 10 you observe days and months and seasons and years. Um is that just basically saying keep up the good fight, regardless of however long it takes. Yeah, but what does he say after it? I fear for you that perhaps I labored for nothing, labored over you for nothing. So that that's why I say keep up the fight instead of me fearing that I labored for nothing. You know? Um but I like the fact that it brings in nine, but now having known God, or rather having been known by God, so that is a huge difference to know God and then to be known by God. Okay, here let's let's take okay.
SPEAKER_02This this this isn't uh correlated necessarily, but let's let's take into consideration the the people uh trying to cast out demons in the name of Paul's God. All right, what is it the demons say? I I know Paul, yeah, I don't know who you are, right? Yeah, so again, it's that recognition, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you are known by God, yes, yes, and you are given authority through by God. So when casting out the demons, it definitely and that's something that I have had I've kind of thought about a lot too. It's like I should definitely be leery in those situations, but I should never be afraid. Because I am bought and paid for, I am sealed with the blood of Christ, and from my understanding, they should not be able to attack me. I wouldn't say spiritually, um, because they will. Like they will try to put that seat of doubt, those things that you're keeping hidden, those things that you are worried about, which is why we need to be prayed up and confessed of, so that when something like that happens, we can say, Ha, you foolish, you foolish demon, you know, don't bring up my past because Jesus has already dropped the charges. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, agreed. Ah, here's the other thing, too. Now it's theater, but I'm gonna bring up the film Nefarious, yeah, for sure. And and that man sitting at the table, and he was terrified when the man of God walks into the until he realizes that he posed no threat.
SPEAKER_00Right, yeah, and that's kind of how I feel. Yeah, like Dr. Venkman. I hate it when I do that. Yeah, exactly. I feel that way sometimes when I go into those situations, like I get that I'm here now, you better watch out, you know. I'm squaring up with you, and you're gonna lose, you know, like early Mike Tyson kind of thing, yeah. For a guy that's Gen X, but yeah, and I think that's one of the things that I I see, but I also think am I being too arrogant in that?
SPEAKER_02Well, how arrogant should you be for a co-air? Valid point.
SPEAKER_00Okay, valid point, yeah. Because when we do those things, we say, I bind you at the foot of the cross.
SPEAKER_02And and please, uh, people, if you're tuning in now to this episode for the first time, uh I understand it's the fourth installment of Galatians, but it doesn't matter. So uh if you'll explain a little bit of what you're talking about in depth.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so um our pastor is a certified demonologist, and he has done multiple exorcisms and cast out many spirits, and I have been able to assist him on a couple of them. And being my first time, you know, it was weird. I didn't know what to expect, I didn't know how to feel. Um the next time we did it, it was definitely above my pay grade. But as I'm going into it now and thinking about it, I shouldn't have never felt that it was above my pay grade. Okay, but I haven't been trained and I'm not a certified demonologist like he is. Okay, like everything that he did, I could have done too because I am a servant of Jesus Christ, because I am empowered by the blood of Jesus. Um, and I think that's where I messed up, but also at the same time, I don't want to be arrogant, which falls back into my I'm going to heaven and I hope I'm going to heaven. Uh, you know what I'm saying? So there's still some of that old indoctrination in me that I'm still fighting through and dealing with.
SPEAKER_02Remember always to be humble in things because again, we don't deserve these things, however, they are ours.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and that's one of the things that I learned with Scott was no power of mine. Yes, I have no power. By the power of God, yes, I cast you out. By the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out. You have no hold here, you're not welcome here. So, again, that's one of the things that I learned too is it's not, it's never me, it's what Jesus has allowed me. So that's one thing there. Um, but going into what it says here, rather having been known by God, the first time I ever did a lesson, it was like a Wednesday evening or something, or maybe even a Sunday morning. I was in my 20s, I think. And when you take on Christianity, when you take on baptism, and you take on Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we talk about there's a party in heaven. Um the thing that kind of made me think about it in like human terms was the first time you're ever in love with someone, and they say I love you to you, or you say I love you to them, and they reciprocate it. Do you remember that feeling? Yes, it's awesome, isn't it? It's fantastic. So when we are baptized, Jesus goes to God and says, Hey dad, Tom is ours, Brian is ours. To wrong is hopefully one day it will be ours. No, agreed, agree. But I equate Jesus saying that to God as the same feeling as when my significant other said, I love you to me. And that feeling that you you get that feeling. It's beautiful, and and we've talked about it on the podcast a lot, going how amazing it is. Like you said in the first part of this, fibrogasted, overwhelmed.
SPEAKER_02Well, he's he says it uh well he's he's talking about how uh he's seeing their uh interactions with it, and he says I've just lost it. He's perplexed. That that's that's my version, so oh perplexed, yeah. Yeah again, uh it it's all those, it's all those thoughts.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, it's just it's wow. Yeah. The creator of the known universe and world not only said my name when I was conceived, then when I gave my life to Jesus, Jesus said, Hey daddy's one of mine. He's ours now. Have you this is my new half-brother? That's just an amazing thing.
SPEAKER_06But yeah, this is to me it again, it's saying, like, oh yeah, there it is, perplexed, but I could wish to be present.
SPEAKER_00Um stay in the faith, stay in the word, stay on the path, or what they called in the first century, I think, was the way, and don't sway from it, don't let other things fall in. In the beginning of Galatians, we see where Peter is messing up, and he has to kind of say, Hey, Peter, you know, you're going back into the Jewish law type stuff. Let's get back on the after the cross stuff. So, yeah, and this is where I see that in this particular chapter. So we can go ahead and finish this chapter out with this next part here.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_02The Pericobies here says an allegory of two covenants. Oh, I love this part. Tell me, you who want to be under the law, do you not listen to the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the servant woman, and one by the free woman. But the son by the servant woman had been born according to the flesh, while the son of the free woman through the promise. This is spoken with allegory, for these women are two covenants, one from Mount Sinai bearing children into slavery, she is Hagar. Now, this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with the children. But the Jerusalem above is free, she is our mother. For it is written, Rejoice, barren woman, who does not give birth, break forth and shout, You who are not in labor, for more numerous are the children of the desolate one than the one who has a husband. And you, brothers, in accordance with Isaac, are children of promise. But as at that time he who was born according to the flesh was persecuting him, who was born according to the spirit. So it is now also.
SPEAKER_00Right? It basically tells us that the one that was born outside of the spirit, outside of what God's promise was, they I don't want to say this. Um I don't want to say this exactly. But as at that time he who was born according to the flesh was persecuting him who was born according to the spirit.
SPEAKER_06Um to me, reading this part, it's just giving us confirmation that the son of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
SPEAKER_00That makes sense, um, that no fault per se to the other part, the Hagar part, because that was the woman, that was Sarah, not listening, being disobedient, and trying to force God's hand into something that wasn't meant to be. Um, so yeah, I to hear this while the son by the free woman through the promise, and that's what I said last week, was his seed would have been Isaac and not Ishmael.
SPEAKER_06Um, and it also talks about um two covenants.
SPEAKER_00Um I don't think these women are two covenants, one from Mount Sinai, bearing children into slavery, which is Hagar. So the covenant would have been with Abraham, and it would have been with Sarah as well. Like it says two covenants, but the the video that I had seen that I had watched talked about that it was one covenant and two women, and it wasn't a shared covenant. Does that make sense?
SPEAKER_02Not at all. If it wasn't a shared covenant, it would be more than one covenant.
SPEAKER_00That's the problem. There was one covenant. Okay, yeah, there was not a second covenant, and somewhere along I know what it says, but I'm trying to understand. Explain to me how that works, because we see clearly that the seed of Abraham is Isaac, and there is an angel that comes to Hagar and says, and there's a promise made there. Let's look at that. Yeah. Absolutely. Covenant.
SPEAKER_02I know the wrong guess, but like he would just come up here and he would he would just start filling out all the gaps with like information that he thought he knew.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_00Or what do you listen to? His oh look at that. It went straight into the Galatians on the channel. I'm not looking for the Galatians part, I'm looking for the Old Testament, which was probably in Genesis.
SPEAKER_06No, no, no, no, no, that's not what I want. Uh let's see. Uh this will probably give me what I'm looking for. Because it describes Ishmael in a very certain way. Okay, Genesis 16 looks like. So Genesis 16. Oops, that's Exodus.
SPEAKER_00See, we are the most okay. It takes us a second to figure these things out. Ah, that's a bit of a bad humbly earning that title.
SPEAKER_06That's right. Okay, it is. Well that didn't give me what I was looking for, did it? Oh, wait a minute, there it was.
SPEAKER_00Okay. And the angel of Yahweh said to her, and the angel of Yahweh said to her further, Behold, you are with child, and you will bear a son, and you shall call his name Ishmael, which I think the translation is God hears. I should go back a little bit further. Um, but let me finish this. Because Yahweh has heard your affliction, and he will be a wild donkey of a man, his hand will be against everyone, and everyone's hand will be against him, and he will dwell in the face of all his brothers. Then she called the name of Yahweh, and he spoke to her, You are a you are a god who sees, for she said, Have I ever have I even remained alive here after seeing him? Therefore the well was called Beraberlahori. Behold, it was between Kadesh and Bered. So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram called the name of the son whom bore who Hagar bore Ishmael.
SPEAKER_06Okay, so let's go back. May have to read the whole thing, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, let's go back to 16.1. Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had borne him no children, and she had an Egyptian servant, woman, whose name was Hagar. So Sarai said to Abram, Now behold, Yahweh has shut my womb from bearing children. Please go in to my servant woman. Perhaps I will obtain children through her. And Abram listened to the voice of Sarah, Sarai, and after Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, Abram's wife, Sarah, took Hagar, the Egyptian her servant woman, and gave her to her husband Abram as his wife. So he went into Hagar and she conceived. Then she saw that she had conceived S Then she saw that she had conceived, so her mistress became contemptible in her sight. And Sarai said to Abram, May the violence done to me be upon you. I gave my servant woman into your embrace, but she saw that she had conceived, so I became con contemptible in her sight. May Yahweh judge between you and me. And Abram said to Sarai, Behold, your servant woman is in your hand. Do to her what is good in your sight. So Sarai afflicted her, and she fled from her presence. So that's the important part about how the angel of Yahweh found her by a spring of water in the wilderness. So Sarai had an issue with Hagar. Even though Hagar was kind of blameless, Sarai is the one that said, Hey, do this. But she got upset and couldn't take it, and she basically cast Hagar away. But then Yahweh found her an angel that now the angel of Yahweh found her by a spring in the water. So there is another covenant made here, correct?
SPEAKER_06Do you see that as a covenant? What is what is said? What's the promise? Maybe I read it. Maybe what I read wasn't right. Maybe I was listening to Rongus.
SPEAKER_00Because I thought there was another promise made here. That he would be the father of many nations. Maybe I read that in some other doctrine. Yeah. And he will be a wild donkey of a man, his hand will be against everyone, everyone's hand will be against him, and he will dwell in the face of all his brothers. You are a god who sees, for she said, have I even remained alive here after seeing him? Yeah, it doesn't say anything about what I was thinking it said. So I'm glad I looked at that. Glad I looked that up. And I'm not sure where I saw that at, or where I read that at. I thought this angel of Yahweh made a a promise to Hagar. But he doesn't.
SPEAKER_06I wonder where I read that.
SPEAKER_02Well I got a pretty good idea where I read it. It was unfortunate for the child. But it was due to the fact that they they tried to do it through the flesh instead of through the spirit. Okay, hold on a minute. I think I found it.
SPEAKER_00Okay, good. I think I found it. So then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said in his heart, Will a son be born to a man who 100 years old, Sarah, who is 90 years old, bear a son. Abraham said to God, Oh, that Ishmael might live before you. God said, No. But Sarah your wife will bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. So in 19 it says, But God said, No, but Sarah your wife will bear yours you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac, and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him. Now as for Ishmael, which it says, as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I will bless him and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this season next year. So he finished talking with him, and God went up from Abraham. And then in twenty-three it says, Then Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all who were born in his house, and all who were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's household, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin, and the very same day as God had spoken with him. Now Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, and Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in his flesh for the foreskin. In the very same day Abraham was circumcised, and Ishmael his son. Now all the men of his household were born in the house, were bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him. So yeah, I mean what do we make of that?
SPEAKER_06What do you am going to I'm trying to figure out from what we read in Galatians? The two covenants. The two covenants.
SPEAKER_00An allegory of two covenants. So this is spoken with allegory for these women are two covenants, one from Mount Sinai, bearing children into slavery. She is Hagar. Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai and Arabia in corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in the slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem above is free, she is our mother. So there we see the two covenants now. The video that I listened to made me think that there wasn't two covenants. Do you see that as being a covenant, even though from our last study there was there was a promise made? Yeah. So I don't know. I just I don't know what to make of that. I don't know how to think about that. The thing that I think is interesting that he says that he will be against all nations, and all nations will be against him. Um so, like, what's the other side there that I'm missing or that we're missing? Do you not think that there is a side that we're missing there? No. I think it's well stated. Okay. Explain it to me then. Help me to understand it. Or maybe even our listeners.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I'm I'm uh alright, so uh I think we've pretty well explained it. But uh so two covenants. Uh a promise was given that uh uh there was gonna be wealth, but the the promise for uh the heir was for the spiritual relationship for the belief through God. Gotcha. Okay, okay. So like all he's all he's been saying the entire time is just like okay, you believe me. Yeah, just just believe me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I wasn't I wasn't making the distinction between what it says there with um the spirit, right?
SPEAKER_02The spirit made that impossible thing happen, right? That's God's miracle, right? If you believe on his miracle, correct great things will happen. Okay, I wasn't. But if you try to jump ahead of it in the flesh, that doesn't end up will it doesn't end up well.
SPEAKER_00Right, okay, okay. That's I think that's where I was getting messed up. It says, Cast out the servant woman and her son, for the son shall not be heir with the son of the free. The part there where it says the barren woman. Yes, who yeah. That's sort of see I wasn't I wasn't putting into the idea that she was barren. I wasn't putting into the fact that they had been trying and it wasn't happening. It's almost like uh it's it's almost like a Mary. It's almost like a Mary. Like she wasn't like a miracle. Well, yeah, well, yeah, because she was barren and she was 99 years old, and the miracle was that she gave birth to Isaac, but it was through regular marital bliss.
SPEAKER_02It's the trust on God's word. That's what it is. Agreed. So that that's what it that's what it always is. Yeah, and and then again when we try to jump ahead of that or or or or assume that we can handle the thing that God has has promised for us, right? That's where we're getting in our way.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, put the buggy before the horse. I have to go back and think about how Sarah took it into her own. She took it into our own hands, yes.
SPEAKER_02And then doing so made her jealous of her service. It's it's it's it's all there. Yeah, yeah. It's old. It's I just had to walk it out. Yes, I was having a hard time walking it out. I don't fault you for it. I I'm just I I was I was over here, I was like, what are we not getting?
SPEAKER_00Well, see, like I said, when I first read this, I was having some trouble understanding what I was reading. And and then and again, it was the translation I think that I was reading that made me cloudy. And I am a firm believer, and it's because of college that I learned this. I need to have these interactions. Oh, yeah, absolutely. And I think that's why it's so paramount that we have Bible studies. Do you think it's like iron sharpening? Sharpen's iron. Good segue, sir, Brian. You're not you usually don't get the good segue, but you do good there. Uh, but yeah, it's just like I said, I read it the other day and I was like, that'll sound right. And I went back and I read it in the LSB or something, or maybe even the New King James version, to be honest with you. I think it was the New King James version that I read it in. I was like, okay, that makes more sense. The wordage made more sense. Where so in the LSB it says, now I say, as long as their heir is a child, he does not differ at all from a slave, although he is owner of everything. What I am saying from the NIV is what I am saying is that as long as an heir is under age, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. Yeah, that's where I was getting messed up. But he is under guardians in the LSB. The heir is subject to guardians and trustees. Yeah, it it didn't bring in the element of um the father. Yeah, and that's where I think I got kind of messed up. Excuse me. Yeah, but I again I think that's why it's it's important to have the different um translations. So many people will say, Well, what translation do I should I read? What translation should I read? And the best answer that I think that I've ever heard is read the one that reads to you. Read the one that you understand the best. I see doubt.
SPEAKER_02Uh there's there's a few. Okay, so uh the Bible that we we uh have on our telephones has access to a bunch of uh different translations, and I think there are uh some that are uh a little dangerous. So um there's the passion translation. I I I disagree with with that.
SPEAKER_00Well, I see that's why I think it's important that we have access to different ones.
SPEAKER_02No, agreed, so that we can discern No, you can still read it. Well, and and again, and it's my opinion in the Apocrypha the reason uh the book of Apoc is is available is so that you can read it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, but it is not you've got canon, yeah, for lack of better words, right? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, and and I think that's another thing too, is like the the thing that is so popular is the book of Enoch and people talking about it and reading it, and there's actually more than one of them now, apparently, which I didn't know. Uh I read the first one, and I see I see what I need to get from it, but I also see what I need to again like watching the chosen. Yes. Because you gotta look at when was it written, who wrote it, how far it was. It wasn't a book.
SPEAKER_02Right. Right, yeah. Because he'd already gone, been taken up to him.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. Which I've always said I want that to happen to me. We went to that uh I don't know, brother.
SPEAKER_02I do not know. You think about the the the Sons of Thunder asking for what they were asking for, you you do not know what you're asking for. That's true. We have two witnesses, correct, and they did not die yet. Yes, there's a lot of speculation on who that is, yes, who it could be, and there were two people who were taken up without dying. Correct, but I so if it is their work to be torn apart over and over and over again until they are allowed to die, we should consider what we ask for.
SPEAKER_00So let's consider that it's not people. Okay. That it's Old Testament and New Testament. Alright. Now, think about the idea of being torn apart over and over again. Let's see how many times do we tear apart the scriptures over and over again and everything. I like the idea that there's two people that have never died and they're out there walking around doing stuff. No, no, no, no. I think that's fantastically cool. I want Cain to still be alive.
SPEAKER_02I d I don't have to be right on all this. Right. So the thing is, is and and that's never my goal. No. But again, when Jesus says be careful what you ask for, you do not know what you asked for. Those are those are those are things as well.
SPEAKER_00When we went to that thing in in Kentucky uh that they did a couple years ago, it was me, Scott, Rob, and their wives and stuff. I was the only outsider, besides, I think the kids were there. Uh yeah, the kids were there. Um and I said something about being yeeted off, and they were like, What? And that's what I was referring to. Like he so walked with God that God just took him. Now I don't know if you've heard this before. Which again, hearsay theology, who knows, whatever, um, who Enoch becomes. Okay. I think it is in the book, I want to say it's in the book of Enoch, maybe not. That he becomes Metatron, which would be the voice of God.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00I don't know if you've ever heard that or not.
SPEAKER_02No, I think I've I've heard that that's what that means. I don't I've not heard that theory, no.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I've heard that when God took him, he became like the one the one and only time that a human becomes an angel. Which I don't even know if the voice of God would be considered an angel at this point, but there is theology out there that says that. Again, these are just again uh liberties, okay, creative liberties and theology. There's no scripture to backing those things up, and you have to take those things with you know the discernment and understand them. And you have the iron sharpens the irons, and you have the Bible studies, and you stay in your word, and you figure out between the false and the and the real. And that is going to be a topic for uh wrongest ringing out the wrongest is uh false prophets, false teachings. We have uh a brother that is you've met him, Tim. He's come to us and asked us, what's up with all these false teachers?
SPEAKER_02Okay, it could it could still be uh uh the old and the new testament. Uh when the two witnesses have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the abyss will wage war with them and will overpower and kill them. Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where their lord was also crucified. Three and a half days all peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will view their bodies and will not permit them to be laid in a tomb. This is where I do not think it is. I get it, I do. And those who dwell on the earth will gloat over them and celebrate and send one another gifts because these two prophets had tormented them.
SPEAKER_00And the thing that we know or that we that we have seen is it's either Enoch and Elijah or it's John and Elijah. This one also says Moses and Elijah uh is a theory uh Enoch on Elijah or a theory um Well, I see because of what they say with John says what is it to you when this man should pass away? If I don't want him to pass away until the coming of the age, I can see where John would be that witness. But I can also see how Elijah was taken away in a chariot. Right?
SPEAKER_02Well, but who also gets the revelation as well, too, so yeah.
SPEAKER_06Um John. Right. So think about what you just said. John and Elijah. No, no, no, no, think about the circumstances of what you just said that he could be alive until the end of the age.
SPEAKER_02Right, and who witnesses the end of the age? John? Yep. Yeah, so yeah, I mean that's but not necessarily for being a witness. Oh, that's true. That's already come to pass. He's witnessed the end of the age. No, that's true.
SPEAKER_00I mean, yeah, that's another one of those things.
SPEAKER_02Witness the end of the age. Well, he's witnessed it because he's given the revelation.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, okay. I see what you're saying now.
SPEAKER_02All right.
SPEAKER_00All right.
SPEAKER_02So and that's just a thought on it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, there's it's Revelation's such an awesome book. I used to be so afraid to read it. Now I love to read it, which is one of these strangest things.
SPEAKER_02And and what gives us hope, man? What gives us hope? You're not you're not coming out of that hand. You're not coming out of that hand. Yeah. He's got a bear hug on you.
SPEAKER_00I'm not coming out, man. That's the thing. Be bear hugged by Jesus. Absolutely, bro. We need to come up with a wrestling term. What would be a good wrestling term? Just for such wrestling bands. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I was thinking 619 grasp. Because that's the first thing. They lock up and they kind of grasp, they grasp the fingers and they try and stronger than you. I was thinking of a luchador thing, but there really isn't a luchador thing that they do that way.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's always the test to strength. That's the one. That's everything. Yeah, everybody does that. Every man you've ever met does that. That but machismo that I talk about. All right, I'm gonna pray us out. Okay, brother. Holy Father God, we just are so grateful for all that you have done, all that you've allowed, all that you have put before us, all that you have promised us, and how faithful you have been to us, Father. And we just thank you for the opportunity to come together and to study your word and to sharpen our irons and to hash these things out and to share it with uh the community and and those around and throughout the world, Father. And we are thankful for um the opportunity to be able to uh serve your people like we do here at the gathering. And we're thankful for all the other gathering type situations that are out there. I know they're out there. Um, and it's just an amazing thing to watch you work and how you do things here, Father. And talking about witnesses, to be witness to what you do is such a such a joy and such a beautiful thing. And I just wish more people could see that the way we do. I wish they would open their eyes, take the scales off their eyes, Father. And Father, we thank you for Jesus and the sacrifice that he made on the cross.
