I'm back on my channel better than yesterday. Sunik Vera here. Today's topic is the silent workplace crisis. Nobody's talking about. Imagine this. Every 10 people in your office, only two actually care about their work. The other is they are just showing up. This is not laziness. This is not a bad generation. This is the new workplace crisis. This engagement. Today we are talking about something invisible but extremely dangerous. Employees are not quitting their jobs. They are quitting emotionally, and the numbers are shocking. Only 21% of employees globally are engaged. Around 62% are not engaged at all, and 17% are actively disengaged, spreading negatively. This is being called the great detachment, quiet quitting, quiet cracking. Whatever the name, the impact is massive. What is disengagement? Disengagement is not about people leaving jobs. It's about people staying but mentally checking out. There are three types of employees today: engaged, passionate, proactive. Not engaged, doing the bare minimum. Actively disengaged, negative, toxic in influence. And here's the scary part. Most employees today fall into category two. They are not bad employees, they are just disconnected. Why this crisis exploding? Let's understand why this is happening right now. Work has lost meaning. Idea of jobs give identity today, jobs feedback, transactions. People ask, why am I doing this? Does this even matter? Work life priorities have changed. After COVID, people realized health matters, family matters, freedom matters. In fact, 59% of employees now prioritize work-life panels strongly. Burnt out plus stress. 40% employees experience daily stress. Many feel emotionally exhausted. They are not lazy. They are tired. The rise of mechanical work with AI, automation, and matrix. Employees feel like I'm just a number and replaceable. This gives motivation. Poor leadership. Biggest reason people don't leave companies, they leave managers. Lack of communication, appreciation, clarity equal to disengagement. This is not just an HR problem. This is a global economic crisis. Disengagement cost 438 billion in lost productivity. Globally, it may cost trillions annually. And inside companies, higher terms up to 43% more, lower productivity 18% less. But the biggest loss innovation dies, energy disappears, culture collapses. Let me give you a simple example. Two employees. Employee A comes on time, finishes task, leaves on time. Employee takes initiative, solves problems, thinks like an owner. Same salary, different mindset. Now imagine if a whole company becomes employee A, that is disengagement. Today, disengagement is showing up in new forms, quiet quitting, doing only what is required. Resentism, working but hating the job, quiet cracking, looking fine outside, but struggling inside emotionally. Over 50% of employees are disengaged in some form. This is silent but dangerous. Now the important question: can this be fixed? Yes, but not with salary hikes alone. Give meaning, not just money. People want purpose. Tell them why their work matters. Listen. Employees feel unheard. 87% believe companies should listen more. Simple conversation can transform engagement. Focus on mental well-being, not just productivity. Human first, employee second, meta managers, train managers to communicate, appreciate support. One good manager can change everything. Redesign work. Less more ownership. People engage when they feel this is my work. Let me leave you with this thought. The biggest risk today is not employees leaving, it's employees staying without caring. If you are a leader, don't ask why are people disengaged? Ask. What are we doing wrong? If you are an employee, drift into disengagement, either grow or change directions. Because we talk about real problems, modern life, and work. So, this is my channel better than yesterday. I'm sure you would delight today's episode. And I would request you to press the subscribe button so that we remain motivated and come out with a useful podcast. Thanks very much.
