Why Healing Should Feel Human And Lasting
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Healing does not have to wait for rock bottom. We sit with Tracy Reid, MFT of Holistic Wellness Center OC to explore a grounded model of care that blends evidence-based therapy with integrative practices, helping high-functioning people who are quietly struggling find real, sustainable relief.
Tracy shares how EMDR, ketamine therapy, and trauma-focused counseling work alongside somatic tools like yoga, meditation, sound healing, and energy work to calm the nervous system and unlock change that talk therapy alone can miss. Her path weaves professional training with lived experience, revealing why the body holds stories the mind cannot always access and how regulation becomes the bridge from coping to growth. We unpack common myths—especially the belief that you must be in crisis to deserve help—and offer a clearer picture of outpatient mental health as supportive, empowering, and deeply human.
We also touch on the center’s word-of-mouth roots and the culture that forms when practitioners have tested the same tools they now offer. Tracy opens up about her own grounding rituals—hiking, snowboarding, travel, and time with her kids—and why restoration outside the office keeps the work clean and present. If you’ve been managing life on the surface while feeling frayed underneath, this conversation offers language, options, and hope. You’ll leave with a better understanding of nervous system regulation, integrative care, and practical steps to seek support before the cliff edge appears.
If this resonated, follow and share the show with a friend, leave a review to help others find it, and connect with Holistic Wellness Center OC on Instagram to ask questions or explore care options.
Welcome And Guest Introduction
SPEAKER_00This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, a place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Rachel Fife.
What The Center Offers
SPEAKER_01Well, welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Now, if you are looking for a marriage or family therapist, well, this resource is closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Tracy Reed, with Holistic Wellness Center OC. Tracy, how is it going? Hi, Rachel. Good. How are you? Doing great. Well, we're really excited to learn about your business and practice. So tell us all about it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so we're an outpatient mental health program. We're designed to support people who are functioning in daily life but struggling internally. So we offer basically like evidence-based therapy, like EMDR, ketamine therapy, um, trauma therapy, but alongside of integrative like wellness practices like sound healing, yoga, meditation, energy work, those types of things. Because our goal is really to help people not just manage symptoms, but actually reconnect with themselves and regulate their nervous systems and then create lasting change in how they live.
Tracy’s Path To Integrative Care
SPEAKER_01Wonderful. Well, how did you get into this kind of business and line of work?
SPEAKER_02Well, um my path kind of came from my professional training, but then also lived experiences because I started out like getting my um license and marriage family therapist, working with individuals and families and navigating trauma and anxiety and emotional disconnection. But over time I saw that talk therapy alone wasn't always enough because going through my own stuff, I also realized that. And because we have a lot like stored in our body as well. And so then that led me to expand into integrative and like somatic approaches. Um, so basically, kind of like what began is like my survival and healing eventually became my service as well. Um, because I I felt called to create a program that treats the whole person, like body, mind, and the nervous system, and in a way that's both clinically sound and deeply human. Because I think for us, like we just we forget how to be human or we're not taught how to be.
SPEAKER_01Well, what do you think are maybe some myths or misconceptions in your industry?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so one of the biggest myths is that outpatient mental health care is only for people in crisis, um, or that you have to be doing like really bad in order to deserve support. But in reality, there are many people that are high functioning on the outside, but suffering quietly. So healing doesn't have to be overwhelming or stigmatized, it can be supportive, empowering, and even grounding. And you don't have to do it alone.
How Clients Find The Center
SPEAKER_01That's wonderful. Well, now, you know, we know we know marketing is the heart of every business. So, how are you finding your your patience or clientele?
SPEAKER_02Um, because I've been doing this since 2013, um I've worked with a lot of clients, and right now, mostly all of it is word of mouth. Um, you know, people come and then they tell their friends, their family. So I get a lot of word of mouth. We do have our Instagram. Um, so it's it's pretty much all of us that work there. It's us seeing clients and then clients telling everyone else about us.
SPEAKER_01Now, have you ever thought about doing your own podcast or anything like that?
SPEAKER_02Everyone keeps telling us we should, but we haven't done that yet.
Life Outside The Office
SPEAKER_01Okay, well, now outside of work. Something else to the list. Yeah, right? Isn't that the truth? So now outside of work, what do you like to do for fun?
Why The Model Works
SPEAKER_02Um, I love to travel. Like I'm a big traveler. I love to go to different places and you know, be in new cultures, um, spending time with my kids, snowboarding when there's snow, you know, I love hiking and reconnecting with nature. So I just I really like for me, it's really about um kind of energy and like grounding down because I really need that in order to then go and do my job and like give to the people like I need to give. So it's just a lot about like grounding being outside, like being with people that you know I love and they love me back.
SPEAKER_01Wonderful. Well, Tracy, um, please tell our listeners one thing they should remember about holistic wellness center, OC.
SPEAKER_02Um, I think for us, like all of us have really come together in a you know, it's like the universe just pulled us together. So everyone that is there, like we've all had our own trauma, we've all experienced all of our own stuff, you know, we've all tried therapy, you know, all the different things. And I feel like this puts everything together. So you're not just getting therapy, you're not just getting sound healing, you know what I mean? Like it just it all comes together and it works really well. So it's basically all of the things that helped all of us get through our stuff, and so putting it all together, we know that it works.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I love that. Well, how can our listeners learn more about holistic wellness center OC?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so right now our website is under construction because we're redoing it, but we are on Instagram at Holistic Wellness Center OC. So you can um watch us there and you can DM us, and then you know, we do like to answer questions and then help people kind of figure out where they're at and what type of care that they they need or want.
