Jesus, the Good Shepherd | Pastor Dennis Raffeo
Jesus introduced Himself as the Good Shepherd, the one who knows, guides, and protects His sheep. 🐑💛
He is not a distant shepherd but one who calls each of His sheep by name and lays down His life for them.
“Very truly I tell you, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. […] I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” — John 10:1–11 (NIV)
A shepherd is someone who is always there for people, who knows everything about you and cares deeply for you.
We all need a shepherd in our lives: someone who comes to pray when we are sick, who ministers to our hearts when our marriages or children are hurting. That is the kind of Shepherd Jesus is.
