Good morning and welcome. I'm Father Tom Roy, the Vicar of the Daily Office Network. I'm an ordained priest in the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Minnesota. The Daily Office Network is a community of Christians who gather together on a daily basis to pray morning prayer from the Episcopal Church's Book of Common Prayer. We come from several different faith traditions and several different countries. We mix in artwork. Sometimes there's a news story. We do our best here to exercise tolerance and decency with one another. Now let's settle in and begin morning prayer. Today is June the 29th, 2026. In the life of the church, we celebrate the Apostles St. Peter and St. Paul as it is their feast day today. The Daily Office Network is podcasting. You can find us on Apple or Spotify. Search the Keywords Daily Office Network or come back to our page when I'm not displaying it, and these links will work for you. And you can click on those and download our podcast and take it with you wherever you go. Let's begin. And they praised God, saying, then God has given even the Gentiles the repentance that leads to life. This is a photograph of the Obama Presidential Center Museum in Chicago, Illinois. Also in this picture, you can see the women's gardens. This just opened on Juneteenth, and it currently is sold out at least until the fall of 2026. In other words, if you'd like to go, the wait to get inside is several months. The vicar and his wife will be taking a trip there sometime in the near future, but we also want to be able to get in and see all the exhibits and enjoy the visit. Their sound has gone out into all lands and their message to the ends of the world. Addie, would you lead us in the invitatory and the Psalter this morning?
SPEAKER_09Lord, open our lips.
SPEAKER_00And our mouth shall proclaim your praise.
SPEAKER_09Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen. Hallelujah. Rejoyful in the Lord, all you lands. Serve the Lord with gladness and come before his presence with a song. Know this: the Lord Himself is God. He himself has made us, and we are his. We are his people and the sheep of his pastor. Enter his gates with thanksgiving. Go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and call upon his name. When the Lord is good.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, Eddie. Our psalm appointed for this morning is Psalm number 66. I'm going to ask Jill and Martha to lead our psalm. Jill, would you start?
SPEAKER_08Be joyful in God, all you lands, sing the glory of God's name, sing the glory of God's praise.
SPEAKER_02Because of your Christian, your enemies cringe before you.
SPEAKER_08God turned the sea into dry land so that they went through the water on foot. And there we rejoiced in God.
SPEAKER_02In my God rules forever and keeps watch over the nations. Let no rebel rise up against God.
SPEAKER_08Bless our God, you peoples. Make the voice of praise to be heard.
SPEAKER_02God holds our souls in life and will not allow our feet to slip.
SPEAKER_08For you, O God, have proved us. You have tried us just as silver is tried.
SPEAKER_02You brought us into this snare. You laid heavy burdens upon our backs.
SPEAKER_08You let enemies ride over our heads. We went through fire and water. But you brought us out into a place of refreshment.
SPEAKER_02I will enter your house with burnt offerings and will pay you my vows, which I have promised with my lips and spoke with my mouth when I was in trouble.
SPEAKER_08I will offer you sacrifices of fat beasts with the smoke of arms of rams. I will give you oxen and goats.
SPEAKER_02Blessed be God who has not rejected my prayer.
SPEAKER_08Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen. Amen.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, Martha and Jill. That was a great reading. This is an icon from the seventeenth century of Ezekiel. Tucker, would you lead this?
SPEAKER_01The voice of someone speaking said to me, O mortal, stand up on your feet, and I will speak with you. And when he spoke to me, a spirit entered into me and set me on my feet, and I heard him speaking to me. He said to me, Mortal, I am I am sending you to the people of Israel, to a nation of rebels who have rebelled against me. They and their ancestors have transgressed against me to this very day. The descendants are impudent and stubborn. I am sending you to them, and you shall say to them, Thus says the Lord God, whether they hear or refuse to hear, for they are a rebellious house, they shall know that there they shall know that there has been a prophet among them. Oh you and you, O mortal, do not be afraid of them, and do not be afraid of their words. Though briars and thorns surround you, and you live among scorpions, do not be afraid of their words, and do not be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house. You shall speak my words to them, whether they hear or refuse to hear, for they are a rebellious house. The word of the Lord.
SPEAKER_00Thanks be to God. Thank you, Tucker. Our first canticle is Song of Zachariah. Mother Angel, would you lead this?
SPEAKER_05In the tender compassion of God, the Madonna from unhappy shall break upon us. Blessed are you, Lord, the God of Israel. You have come to your people and set them free. You have raised them from the save. To save us from our enemies. From the hands of us. To show the mercy to one of them. This was the map you swim to set us free from the hands of our enemies. Free to worship in with mountain. Holy and wretched before you're line. And your child shall be called the prophet of the most time. For you will go before the Lord to prepare the way, to give God's people knowledge of salvation, by the forgiveness of their sins, in the tender compassion of our God, the dawn from Alhamdulillah, to shine on the suit of the darkness, and the shadow of death, and to come to the way of peace. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen. In the tender compassion of God, the dawn from on high shall break upon us.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, Mother Angel. See the sheep with all the animals in it being let down from heaven? Saint Peter's vision. Our reading is from the Acts of the Apostles, chapter eleven, verses one through eighteen. Patricia, would you lead this?
SPEAKER_04Now the apostles and the believers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also accepted the word of God. So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized him, saying, Why do you go to uncircumcised men and eat with them? Then Peter began to explain it to them step by step, saying, I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. There was something large, like a large sheep coming down from heaven, being lowered by its four corners, and it came close to me. As I looked at it closely, I saw four-footed animals, beasts of prey, reptiles, and birds of the air. I also heard a voice saying to me, Get up, Peter, kill and eat. But I replied, By no means, Lord, for nothing profane or unclean has ever entered my mouth. But a second time the voice answered from heaven, What God has made clean, you must not call profane. This happened three times. Then everything was pulled up again to heaven. At that very moment, three men sent to me from Caesarea arrived at the house where we were. The spirit told me to go with them and not to make a distinction between them and us. These six brothers also accompanied me and we entered the man's house. He told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying, Send to Joppa and bring Simon, who is called Peter. He will give you a message by which you and your entire household will be saved. And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as it had upon us at the beginning. And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said, John baptized with water, that you will baptize with the Holy Spirit. If then God gave them the same gift that he gave us when we believed the Lord Jesus Christ, who was who was I that I would hinder God? When they heard this, they were silenced and they praised God, saying, Then God has given even to the Gentiles the repentance that leads to life. The word of the Lord.
SPEAKER_00Thanks be to God. Thank you, Patricia. Our second canticle is the Todayum, Mother Angel.
SPEAKER_05We praise you, O God, we acclaim you as Lord, all creation worship worships you, the Father everlasting, to me, all angels, all the powers of heaven, the cherubim and seraphim singing endless praise. Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth and fall of your glory, the glorious company of apostles, praise you, the double fellowship of prophets, praise you, the white rope army of martyrs, praise you, throughout the world, the holy church acclaims you, Father of Majesty and abundant, you eternal son, worthy of our worship, and the Holy Spirit and the kitten God. You Christ are the King of Glory, the eternal son of the Father. When you took our flesh to send us free, you humbly chose the Virgin's womb. You overcame the sting of death and opened the kingdom of heaven to our believers. You are seated in commands from attending glory. We believe that you will come to be our judge. Come then, Lord, and help your people, bought with the price of your own blood, and bring us with your saints to glory everlasting.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, Mother Angel. And now the apostles' creed. Michael Brown, would you lead us in the creed?
SPEAKER_06I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, was buried. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
unknownAmen.
SPEAKER_00Amen. Thank you, Michael. And now the prayers begin with our Lord's Prayer. Robert, would you lead us in the Lord's Prayer and then we'll read the suffrages?
SPEAKER_03Lord be with you.
SPEAKER_00And also with you.
SPEAKER_03Let us pray. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. The kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
SPEAKER_00Save your people, Lord, and bless your inheritance.
SPEAKER_03Govern and uphold them now and always.
SPEAKER_00Day by day we bless you.
SPEAKER_03We praise your name forever.
SPEAKER_00Lord, keep us from all sin today.
SPEAKER_03Have mercy on us, Lord. Have mercy.
SPEAKER_00Lord, show us your love and mercy.
SPEAKER_03For we put our trust in you.
SPEAKER_00In you, Lord, is our hope.
SPEAKER_03And we shall never hope in vain.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, Robert. Our saints of the day, Peter and Paul. Famous painting by El Greco from 1607. And now we have three prayers: the collect of the day for the apostles, Saint Peter and Saint Paul, a collect for the renewal of life, and the Anglican Rosary Prayer. Paul, would you lead these three prayers?
SPEAKER_07Almighty God, whose blessed apostles Peter and Paul glorified you by their martyrdom. Grant that your church, instructed by their teaching and example, and knit together in unity by your spirit, may ever stand firm upon the one foundation, which is Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen. O God the King eternal, whose light divides the day from the night, and turns the shadow of death into the morning. Drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace, that having done your will with cheerfulness during the day, we may when night comes rejoice to give you thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Dear Lord Jesus, help me do the things I should, to be to others kind and good, and in all I do or say, grow more loving every day.
SPEAKER_00Amen. Thank you, Paul. And now our Monday morning prayer list, our most recent.
