Good morning and welcome. I'm Father Tom Roy, the vicar of the Daily Office Network. The Daily Office Network is a community of Christians who gather together on a daily basis to pray morning prayer from the Episcopal Church's Book of Common Prayer. We mix in artwork. We have a news story. There are people here from different countries and different faith traditions. We do our best to exercise tolerance and decency with one another. Let's settle in and begin morning prayer, shall we? Today is the 17th of July, 2026. And in the life of the church, we have a saint today. The saint's name is William White. William was a bishop who died in the year 1836. The Daily Office Network is podcasting. We post our services to Apple and Spotify. You can find us by searching Daily Office Network. And we just went over 2,000 downloads from our podcasting service, and we haven't been doing this a year yet. Let's begin morning prayer. The manna ceased on the day they ate the produce of the land, and the Israelites no longer had manna. They ate the crops of the land of Canaan that year. This is an absolutely beautiful cathedral.

Above is a picture of a Karen. It's a human-made pile of stones. They've been used for thousands of years for many different purposes. One stone upon another. Chad, would you lead this?

The people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and they camped in Gilgal on the east border of Jericho. Those twelve stones which they had taken out of the Jordan, Joshua set up in Gilgal, saying to the Israelites, When your children ask their parents in time to come, what do these stones mean? Then you shall let your children know. Israel crossed the Jordan here on dry ground. For the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan for you until you crossed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up for us until we crossed over, so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty, and so that you may fear the Lord your God forever. When all the kings of the Amorites beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the Canaanites by the sea heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan for the Israelites until they had crossed over, their hearts melted, and there was no longer any spirit in them because of the Israelites. While the Israelites were camped in Gilgal, they kept the Passover in the evening of the fourteenth day of the month on the plains of Jericho. On the day after the Passover, on that very day they ate the produce of the land, unleavened cakes and parched grain. The manna ceased on the day they ate the produce of the land, and the Israelites no longer had manna. They ate the crops of the land of Canaan that year. Once when Joshua was by Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing before him with a drawn sworn in his hand. Joshua went to him and said to him, Are you one of us or one of our adversaries? He replied, Neither, but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, What do you command your servant, my Lord? And the commander of the army of the Lord said to Joshua, Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy. And Joshua did so. The word of the Lord.

Bless those who persecute you, blessed and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. This is our saint of the day, a likeness of our saint of the day. This is by William Birch. William White is most Is that in most former British colonies, the Church of England simply morphed into a new Anglican province when independence arrived, but not in the United States. The church had to be rebuilt from scratch. From New York City up through Boston, most Anglican clergy were royalists who fled to Canada or back to Britain. But in Philadelphia, all but one priest favored independence. William White, rector of the Christ Church there in Philadelphia and Bishop of Pennsylvania, led the way. He rallied the clergy to form the nucleus of a new national church governed by Democratic and Republican principles. As chaplain to the Continental Congress and later the United States Senate, White had heard all the founders' debates about secular governance and wrote a new constitution for the Episcopal Church, adapting the federal model. William White, our saint of the day, a very, very important cog in our wheel. And now two prayer, no, three prayers.
