Good morning and welcome. I'm Father Tom Roy, the Vicar of the Daily Office Network. I'm an ordained priest in the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Minnesota. The Daily Office Network is a community of Christians who gather together on a daily basis to pray morning prayer from the Episcopal Church's Book of Common Prayer. We come from several different faith traditions in several different countries. All are welcome here, where we do our best to exercise tolerance and decency with one another. Now let's settle in and begin morning prayer. Today is the last day of July. It's the 31st Friday. In the life of the church, our saint is Ignatius of Loyola, a priest and a spiritual writer who died in 1556. We are posting our edited service to podcast Monday through Friday. In the last days, it will be God declares that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, and all your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. The impact of severe flooding last week in central Texas counties known as the Hill Country is still being felt by residents. Since then, Episcopal congregations have joined community efforts to respond to pressing needs there. One year after the region was hit by an earlier round of deadly and destructive river flooding. Our congregations are mobilizing to respond to the variety of needs in their communities in coordination with other local churches and agencies, West Texas Bishop David Reid said in a July 21st online update to his San Antonio-based diocese. We've also been in contact with Episcopal Relief and Development, which has approved an initial grant to help meet immediate needs, which vary from place to place. He singled out St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Uvaldi and St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Kerryville for their flood relief efforts. St. Paul's also was at the center of efforts in Kerr County to respond to the extreme flooding that occurred in July of 2025. Wow. The hour is coming, and now is when the true worshippers worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for such the Father seeks to worship him. Thank you, Jacqueline. This is our saint of the day, Ignatius of Loyola. A nobleman's son, Ignatius went to war early and he was wounded in battle. During his recovery, he went through a profound spiritual awakening, which later became the basis for his book on spiritual exercises. In 1534, he took vows of poverty and service to the poor, with six companions, thus founding the Jesuits. Ignatius of Loyola, our saint of the day. And now three prayers: the collect of the day for Ignatius of Loyola, a priest who died in 1556, a collect for Fridays, and a collect for the human family. Brother Tucker, would you lead us in these three prayers?
