Navigate with Tim Austin
Navigate with Tim Austin is a podcast for anyone navigating a season of change and wondering how to move forward with greater clarity, courage, and hope.
In these short, personal coaching conversations, Tim explores the questions that often surface when life is changing—questions about direction, identity, purpose, relationships, faith, and what comes next. Each episode combines personal stories, practical coaching insights, and thoughtful questions to help you slow down, pay attention to what matters most, and take your next faithful step.
Tim Austin is a professional coach who has spent more than 30 years walking alongside people through seasons of change—as a coach, pastor, missionary, leader, husband, and dad. His own life has included numerous transitions across cultures, careers, roles, and seasons of family life. Those experiences have shaped a simple conviction at the heart of Navigate: transition isn't something to rush through or simply survive. It can become an invitation to deeper clarity, growth, and purpose.
You don't need to have the whole path figured out. Sometimes you just need enough light for the next faithful step.

Welcome
Tim AustinWelcome to Navigate with Tim Austin, a podcast for anyone navigating life's seasons of change. Here, we believe transition isn't just something to survive, it's an opportunity for growth. Each episode offers practical coaching insights to help you navigate change with greater clarity, confidence, and hope. I'm Tim Austin, and I'm glad you're here. Now, let's navigate this conversation together
What I've Been Learning
Tim AustinHello, and welcome to Navigate with Tim Austin. Whether you've been listening since the very beginning or you're joining me for the first time, I'm really glad you're here. This podcast has always existed for one simple reason, to encourage, equip, and give you practical tools for navigating seasons of change. And because the truth is, transition isn't something we experience once or twice in life. It's really woven into the fabric of being human. And sometimes we choose change, sometimes change chooses us, and either way, we're all navigating something, and that's why this podcast is back. It's been a little while since I released a new episode, and during that time, I haven't stopped coaching. In fact, I probably coached more people through transition over the last couple of years than in any other point in my career. I've had the privilege of walking alongside missionaries returning home, leaders changing organizations, executives stepping into new roles, people wrestling with retirement, parents becoming empty nesters, people recovering after loss, and individuals asking some really important questions across the board. Questions like, who am I now? Where is God leading me? How do I know for certain? How do I move forward with the fut- when the future feels uncertain? The conversations have been different, but underneath them I've noticed the same patterns appearing again and again. As a coach, one of the greatest gifts is watching hundreds of people navigate similar struggles. Eventually, you begin to notice themes. Certain questions keep surfacing. Certain obstacles show up repeatedly. Certain breakthroughs happen in surprisingly similar ways. And over the past couple years, I've spent a lot of time reflecting on those patterns, and I've also been writing. My recent blog series has actually helped me organize years of coaching conversations into something, uh, much clearer. Uh, and this is some of the, some of the content that I want to expound on down the road. Writing has a way of forcing clarity. Uh, coupled with significant one-on-one conversations with people, that clarity begins to emerge. You think you understand something until you really try
A New Framework for Transition
Tim Austinto explain it, and the, the process of writing and, and reflecting on all of this has challenged me to ask, what actually helps people move through transition? Not just survive it, but grow because of it. As I reflected on all those com- coaching conversations, something really began to emerge for me. Not, not a formula, not a step-by-step, not a, yeah, not a five-step guarantee. Transition doesn't work that way. But I did begin seeing a framework, a map if you will. And one, uh, one I hope that will help people understand where they are, what they're experiencing, and how they can intentionally move forward. It isn't about... It's not about finding certainty. It's about learning how to navigate uncertainty well, and that's become really the heartbeat of what I do as a coach. For years, um, many of us, including myself, approached transition with one big question, "What's next?" And that's an important question, but I've become convinced there's an even better question, and that is, "Who am I becoming through this?" Because transitions don't simply change our circumstances, they shape us, they reveal things about us, they invite growth, they expose, uh, assumptions, they strengthen our faith, they clarify what matters most. And when we rush to find answers, we often miss what transition is trying to teach us.
What Navigate Will Explore
Tim AustinSo that's really, uh, why I'm rebooting this podcast. Not because I ran out of things to say. Quite the opposite. I think I really have a clear message than I've ever had before. So going forward, we'll explore topics like navigating uncertainty, discovering clarity without having all the answers, making wise decisions during change, understanding identity during transition, designing experiments instead of waiting for perfect clarity or perfect certainty, recognizing the patterns God is forming or the themes God is allowing to emerge in our lives, helping leaders, families, and organizations navigate change together. So if you're navigating change yourself or if you are coming alongside others and helping them walk through transition seasons, this podcast is for you. So some episodes will be practical, some will be reflective, some will include conversations with guests, uh, others will simply be me sharing stories from coaching and lessons I've learned along the way. But every, every eps- every episode has one goal, to help you navigate transition with greater wisdom, confidence, and hope So if you've, if you've found yourself in a season where life feels uncertain, if you're asking questions about calling, career, relationships, retirement, leadership, faith, or simply wondering what God might be doing in this season, I hope you'll come along for the journey. My goal isn't to tell you exactly, uh, what decisions to make. Transitions are much more complex than that. It's... But it is to help you learn how to navigate change with more confidence, because I believe transition isn't just something to survive. It can become one of the greatest opportunities for growth and creativity that you'll ever experience.
What's Coming Next
Tim AustinSo thanks for joining me for this first episode of the Reboot. I'm genuinely excited about where we're headed together. In our next episode, we'll begin exploring what transition really is and why it's so much more than change, and I'll introduce you to what has become the foundation of what I teach about transition, a simple but powerful framework that has emerged from years of coaching people through seasons of change. And my hope is that you'll begin to see that your own journey, or you'll begin to see your whole journey in a new way. If today's episode resonated with you, I'd love to invite you to visit me at encompasslifecoaching.com. There you will find articles, workshops, practical resources, and information about my coaching. Whether you're navigating a transition yourself or helping someone else through one, I'd be honored to connect with you. So until next time, remember, you don't have to have the whole path figured out. You only need enough light for the next faithful step. So thanks for listening to Navigate with Tim Austin.
