SPEAKER_02

So Mothman.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome.

SPEAKER_02

More like Goth Man. Am I right?

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

We're talking about another cryptid today.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh one that we really don't know a lot about because Nobody does. Well, I mean, of of all like the the cryptids, this one is fairly new.

unknown

Right?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know what year like the it all transpired not that long ago, really. Really?

SPEAKER_02

Um but like I see so much merch.

SPEAKER_01

90s? Oh.

SPEAKER_02

Started in the 60s.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay. Well, I was wrong.

SPEAKER_02

Uh but like I see so much fucking merch and like bumper stickers and shit for Mothman.

SPEAKER_01

Really?

SPEAKER_02

And I don't know. We'll get into it.

SPEAKER_01

Let's do it.

SPEAKER_02

Welcome everybody to Comedyville Horror Podcast. We are your host. I'm Russ. I'm Tosh. And this week we're talking about Mothman or Butterfly Man.

SPEAKER_04

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

Or no, I guess it's mostly it's mostly nighttime. And are butterflies out at night?

SPEAKER_01

I don't think so.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Just moth.

SPEAKER_01

I think they go to sleep.

SPEAKER_02

Do they?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. Do butterflies sleep?

SPEAKER_04

Do insects in general sleep? Do they need to? Maybe not. I don't I don't know. Well, hmm. We'll find out.

SPEAKER_02

Uh yeah, so uh why don't we Yeah, what do you got?

SPEAKER_01

Tell me tell me a little bit about the history.

SPEAKER_02

So it it started November 15th of 1966.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Two young couples in Point Pleasant uh told police that they'd seen a large creature whose eyes glowed red.

SPEAKER_04

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

Uh and that that's a key thing for all of the side. It's always red glowing eyes.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um they uh they were on this side of the road at the town, and they described it as a slender, muscular man about seven feet tall with white wings. However, they were unable to discern its face because of the hypnotic effect of its eyes. This sounds like a bunch of fucking hippies that are high out of their gourd or tripping or something.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, so they they sped away and reported that the the creature flew after their car, making a screeching sound, and pursued them as far as the city limits.

SPEAKER_01

Sounds like a bat. Just a very large bat. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But then over the next few days, more people reported similar sightings.

SPEAKER_01

And then that would be terrifying.

SPEAKER_02

So then, and then this is where so the local newspaper covered it.

SPEAKER_04

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

And then this is where like it just starts. Because otherwise, if the newspaper doesn't like destroy it, well, just make sensationalize a story, then it just dies. Right. Right. This just gets into more, more of the sightings. And people people losing their fucking dogs and claiming that it was the fucking moth man.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, I mean moth that eats a dog.

SPEAKER_02

It's kind of yeah, so wild. And then it it kind of like for what did I say, November 15th? So like just over a year after that. So in December 15th, 1967, a bridge collapsed. Uh, and 46 people died. And then this is where for some reason people started connecting the bridge collapsing with the Mothman.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Like because weren't there weren't like the survivors saying that there were sightings or something?

SPEAKER_02

Because then it it kind of just stopped after that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Like once the bridge collapsed, then nobody saw it again. Uh, but like a lot of people just think it's a fucking sandhill crane, which we have those here.

SPEAKER_00

We do.

SPEAKER_02

Uh we're one of the stops. You've seen them fly.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my God.

SPEAKER_02

It sounds they look like like a human, because they have long legs that you can see.

SPEAKER_01

They are super have you ever like gone to the actual, like when they do the migration, the sandhill crane migration?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, by Carney?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Well, I drive out there all the time for work and they sound like pterodactyls. And it's crazy because you see so many people along the interstate pulled over and taking pictures. Yeah. And it's like, geez, fuck. Like, this is how accidents fucking happen.

SPEAKER_01

I will say though, if you've never actually gone to like see the group of them and like like getting up in the morning and then when they take off from their roost, it's wild. Yeah. Like there's so many of them in the track.

SPEAKER_02

They're big. They are they're huge birds.

SPEAKER_01

They're they're pretty big.

SPEAKER_02

Fucking ribeye in the sky. That's what they call it. Like you can't you can't shoot them here, but in Texas, where you can shoot anything.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh everyone claims that they're delicious.

SPEAKER_01

Well, they eat corn.

SPEAKER_02

Is that all they eat?

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I think.

SPEAKER_02

Just like a big fucking gullet.

SPEAKER_01

They could like they're not eating. Yeah, but then it would taste fishy. The meat would taste gross. Uh maybe they do eat fish. Oh. I thought they just roosted like But they're always by water. Well, they roost in the water.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. So I bet I bet they do eat fish.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe.

SPEAKER_02

I bet they do.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but their eyes aren't gonna glow red at night.

SPEAKER_02

Because that's that's why they have the super long legs. Like when they're in the shallow water, they're always like Oh, you're probably right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I guess like the herons eat fish.

SPEAKER_02

What what is it? The fucking flamingo? A flamingo is pink because of like the shit that it eats?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the shrimp.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It eats shrimp. Isn't that weird? It's kind of like how a Dalmatian is born white doesn't have spots until it's older.

SPEAKER_02

Is it?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I did not know that. Really?

unknown

Really?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

What so what about cows? Do cows get fucking spots later?

SPEAKER_01

Have you ever seen a baby like a calf?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

With spots?

SPEAKER_02

See, around here though.

SPEAKER_01

No, but like a dairy cow is is born with spots.

SPEAKER_02

Isn't it? Because I don't you don't see a whole lot of dairy cows out and about.

SPEAKER_01

Not here.

SPEAKER_02

It's mostly just Wisconsin, they're brown or all white. Like well, because there's not many spotted ones.

SPEAKER_01

Because here it's for the meat. Yeah. You know? But meat. Uh I don't know. I don't believe that it's a fucking crane. See. The reason being is where are we coming up with these red eyes?

SPEAKER_02

So, and that's the thing too. Apparently.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, a crane does have a red circle around its eyes.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And at night, like if you shine a light, uh like you know, like most animals, like you shine a light on them and then their eyes like glow. Uh but yeah, the the cranes have a red glow to them.

SPEAKER_01

Oh.

SPEAKER_02

Which I did not know.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't either. I mean I knew that they had like the red.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think I've ever seen one at night to, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Well yeah, you're gonna spook them and then they're all gonna get up.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I know, and then it scares the fuck out of you because they're huge.

SPEAKER_01

They're huge, but they're like the noise, like it's so prehistoric sounding.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think I've heard them.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god. Seriously, play an audio of you can do a an audio of uh what a crane sounds like. It's the wildest thing.

SPEAKER_02

I'll just I'll look it up on YouTube.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Why isn't this fucking loading?

SPEAKER_04

That does sound like a fucking Jurassic Park. It's like a fucking pterodactyl. Yeah. Why is there such a fucking echo on that?

SPEAKER_01

Now that sounds like it's it's doing some fucking Well, they're it's like their mating thing. But if you get have you So think of that, if you hear thousands at the same time, that's all you can hear. That's all you can hear.

SPEAKER_02

Have you ever really uh heard of a tortoise?

SPEAKER_01

No. Wait, like a tortoise during mating season?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, a tortoise fucking.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, they're like moan. Yeah, they grunt fucking. I was watching some National Geographic thing, and it was like the tortoise is claiming his mate, and it like he's like on top of her.

SPEAKER_02

Biting its neck and grunting.

SPEAKER_01

Sounds like a sweaty old man.

SPEAKER_00

Tortoise mating sound.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's like wheat.

unknown

Tortoise mating sound.

SPEAKER_01

Oh god, here we go. Now we're just gonna do random.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we're just doing uh animals fucking now.

SPEAKER_03

Stop.

SPEAKER_02

Oh god, this one's funny. He's it's it's fucking a shoe, and you could tell, oh, he's coming.

SPEAKER_01

So bad.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that's funny.

SPEAKER_01

Now my dog's awake.

SPEAKER_02

He's like, what's that sound? Uh oh, I I want to ask you, how often do you get your nails done?

SPEAKER_01

Um I try to go like maybe once every three weeks.

SPEAKER_02

Uh so get this eye.

SPEAKER_01

Wait, are those professionally? They look really good.

SPEAKER_02

I know.

SPEAKER_01

So Father's Day. Wait, did you do shellac or dip?

SPEAKER_02

Just gel.

SPEAKER_01

Shellac gel. He doesn't even know how to say it right.

SPEAKER_02

I don't even know.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just kidding.

SPEAKER_02

Uh so for Father's Day, my wife got me uh a gift card to a place because I'm like, you know, I really want like a professional Asian to do my nails because, well, for one, I keep getting fingernail polish all over the fucking house.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

Because I I never get it dried and then I'm fucking touching everything.

SPEAKER_01

Uh gonna have some patience for that.

SPEAKER_02

But this whole fucking the whole process of just getting there was a nightmare.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

What do you mean? So it's enlightened me.

SPEAKER_02

So me and my wife were gonna uh we were both gonna get our nails done.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Uh and it's not something that she likes or does ever. So that's good. Uh so we went after work on what was it, a Wednesday. Because I'm like, I bet like towards the end of the week is they're gonna be way fucking busier, you know. I don't want to do it on a weekend.

SPEAKER_01

Right before a holiday, like then it's crazy. Everybody's getting their red, white, and blue and shit.

SPEAKER_02

Everybody was.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

Uh so we go in, everything is full, all of the entire place completely full. And so I'm like, well, can I just come back tomorrow after work? Like, I'll make an appointment.

SPEAKER_04

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

You know, instead of just a walk-in. He's like, Yeah, yeah, yeah. We we do that. And so I made an appointment for right after work.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Uh so next day I'm there. And I was there for two hours.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

How bad were your fucking nails?

SPEAKER_02

No, it I was waiting.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you had an appointment.

SPEAKER_02

I know. And he's like, I so sorry. Uh every it's wedding season. Everybody they come in, they they make appointments for eight people for the whole wedding party, but then each one bring in the daughter. So eight, eight toning to fifteen all day long. I'm like, I you know, I get it. Yeah. He he is adorable too. Oh he's like, he's like the owner, like he doesn't actually do anything, he just stands there and uh talks to people. I think I do like that. But he's like super flamboyant.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I love it.

SPEAKER_02

Right next to the uh Mexican restaurant. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so you know that guy.

SPEAKER_01

I know that guy.

SPEAKER_02

He's so funny. Uh but so waited forever uh to even get a chair, right? And then they sit me next to like this woman that has a whole bunch of tattoos all over.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Um, but I kept getting skipped because everybody thought that I was with her, and they thought I was just waiting for her to get done.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

So I sat there for fucking ever.

SPEAKER_01

Like the actual Why wouldn't you say something?

SPEAKER_02

I d I asked the guy, and you know how they're always like, uh five more minute.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

And five minutes turn into 15 minutes.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

And 15 minutes turn into our you know? Yeah. Oh yeah. It's always five more minute.

SPEAKER_01

That's why I try to go right when they open. I'm like the first one there. Let's get it. I don't have that much patience to sit there.

SPEAKER_02

But like I swear, any any man out there, fucking straight, whatever, doesn't matter. I I tell you, go and get a fucking manicure.

SPEAKER_01

Or a pedicure.

SPEAKER_02

It's so nice.

SPEAKER_01

It is.

SPEAKER_02

I loved it.

SPEAKER_01

Did they do the massage? Did they massage your hands at the end?

SPEAKER_02

That's the best is getting that massage that only an old Asian lady knows how to do with fucking years of ancient secrets.

SPEAKER_01

We're gonna do a pedicure next. I I don't know about I don't know feet are weird so good.

SPEAKER_02

I know, but that I I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

The best. But it'll change your life.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I'm hooked on like fucking just having them do it.

SPEAKER_01

There you go.

SPEAKER_02

It was so much fun.

SPEAKER_04

I know, I can't. I mean, other than fucking Jesus fucking Christ.

SPEAKER_01

I was a bomb.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Bomb silver back then. Um, I go in and they're like, what fish now? You want fish now? I'm like, yep. Here and normally I'm like, here's a picture of a lure. Can you please do this one? Fuck.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I know. And that everybody was getting fucking red, white, and blue. And it is kind of funny how it's like it's kind of like all the same women, the same type of women, you know what I mean? And like they're all getting like the same shit.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I think that's why like, I don't know, they probably enjoyed you coming in, but I think they when they see me, they're like, all of them come over. They're like, what what lure? What what fish nail? And so like, because it's something different. Like, yeah, you know, everybody's like, Can you do stars on mine? Can you make a heart? Like, I'm like, no. Can you do this?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I know. I'm thinking because she was like, You want design? I'm like, no, just what are you gonna get?

SPEAKER_01

Like a pentagram?

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, well, yeah, I might see if she can like have it say like Satan.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

Or I don't know, or like uh spider webs or something.

SPEAKER_01

My name backwards is Ah Satan.

SPEAKER_02

Ah Satan. That's actually pretty fucking cool.

SPEAKER_00

Uh is it though?

SPEAKER_04

Is it my name backwards is Sir? Oh yeah. Like Big Sir Waterbed.

SPEAKER_01

Remember that?

SPEAKER_04

No?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, big sir, man. That was like a huge store. And you just go in there and it would just be waterbeds.

SPEAKER_02

Waterbeds are so fucking terrible.

SPEAKER_01

Well, it's dumb.

SPEAKER_02

Like it really is well, like they're not comfortable. And if you move at all, you're sitting there the whole fucking like for two and a half hours.

SPEAKER_01

I know. That's so bad.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, who whoever still has a waterbed should be murdered in the streets.

SPEAKER_01

Just think about like how moldy it probably is. Cause you like put water in it in 1980 and you haven't changed it since.

SPEAKER_02

We were watching something. What was it? Uh it was like a hoarder's, but it's a different show. What was it? It was like Filthy Rich or something like that. Where so it's like a hoarder house, uh, but they have like good stuff that they can sell. So it's not just throwing everything away, it's trying to make money off of it.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, when they buy like shit in bulk and then they're like well, I mean, some people just like they're huge collectors. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Usually like they'll collect everything and have like really good shit, like fucking marbles or baseball cards.

SPEAKER_01

Because they're called hoarders.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but yeah, it's like a lot of the times their house is full to the sea.

SPEAKER_01

Like they have huge mansions and they're just like, oh, that would be interesting.

SPEAKER_02

There was a a fucking waterbed in one of them, and it was like they tried draining it and they couldn't. Like it was it had been filled with water like fucking 40 years ago, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean these are like old.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Uh, and then they just uh like cut it open because they couldn't fucking how gross was the water. It was disgusting.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, see, uh I'm sure they're like a like a safety hygiene issue now.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah. There there's some of these hordes where like they have to like uh head to toe covered because there's such disgusting shit in them. By mice, yeah, and they're like just looking for like a few like good things in there, you know?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's disgusting. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

No, because they have to go through every little thing.

SPEAKER_01

Ew.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh uh.

SPEAKER_01

No, thank you.

SPEAKER_02

Nope. Fuck that.

SPEAKER_01

I know. We have taken this Mothman to a whole nother level.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah. Oh, another show, like, well, it's not a show, it's a a documentary. Have you seen it come up on Netflix uh Maternal Instinct?

SPEAKER_01

I have. I haven't watched it yet.

SPEAKER_02

It's fucking crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Really?

SPEAKER_02

Do you want me to like give you kind of a synopsis?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, give me a synopsis of it.

SPEAKER_02

Uh the so it it takes place in Texas, and when you're when you're watching it, you're like, oh fuck, like these people are like retarded.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, great.

SPEAKER_02

Well, at least the the husband is. Because like this woman uh just lies all the time. Like that she's like a fucking compulsive liar.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Uh she said that she was super rich, or like she's supposed to be getting an inheritance or something like this, like from like an oil company or whatever. Uh so like they're fucking she's like buying cars and stuff with like no money.

SPEAKER_01

What?

SPEAKER_02

Uh just racking up the credit or they're like taking them back because they're not making the payments on it, you know?

SPEAKER_04

Right.

SPEAKER_02

And fucking uh so she meets the guy and stuff, and they get married or whatever, and she tells them that she's pregnant. Well, people that knew her in her old town know that she can't be pregnant because she had a hysterectomy.

SPEAKER_00

Oh no.

SPEAKER_02

And she she gets like the fucking the fake belly.

SPEAKER_01

Stop it.

SPEAKER_02

She plays it out.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, don't don't tell me, because now I want to watch it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so it gets real fucking crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay. Oh, I think I did watch it because there was a preview. And Where the oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

That it's like fucking shaking your hands.

SPEAKER_01

Um but where like the doctor comes in, it was like on the preview, and I I don't know who it was, but he's like, You you need to tell me. Like the doctor's gonna come in here any minute and find out and check you and find out that you had a baby or you didn't.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then the doctor comes in and is like, she does. She just never had a baby. She never had a baby. So that's where I saw that, and I was like, oh fuck, I'm gonna watch it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, because like it starts off like uh, you know, kind of kind of the end where it's like the police body cam footage of uh the cop pulling her over and she has a baby.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, don't see now you mm-mm. Don't be a spoiler.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's fucking wild. You have to watch it.

SPEAKER_01

That's that's gonna be on my agenda this evening. Yeah. Since it's 105 heat insects. Oh my god. Yeah, just wild shit.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm. So yeah, so back to Mothman.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

Um you know, I have a feeling that wait, when when did Mothra uh you know Godzilla?

SPEAKER_04

Like Godzilla. I just remember Mothman Prophecies.

SPEAKER_01

Do you remember that movie?

SPEAKER_04

No. That was kind of wild. Yeah, see, so Mothra uh first appeared in 1961.

SPEAKER_02

Do you remember like Godzilla fought the giant fucking Mothman? Mothra. I bet it's fucking people that saw that fucking movie. And then they're like, it's a fucking Mothman, you know?

SPEAKER_04

Oh, I was gonna look up.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe if my phones Good night. Oh, no.

SPEAKER_02

My my wife's phone like will not work for some reason. And it's it's crazy because like uh she like literally just paid the phone off. You know?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, really?

SPEAKER_02

Like this month. And then immediately after it's paid off, it fucking she can't like make calls.

unknown

Oh what?

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, dude, this fucking this country's such a fucking scam.

SPEAKER_01

It's so dumb. Um Mothman Prophecies was in 2002.

SPEAKER_04

Is it a movie?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you never saw that?

SPEAKER_04

No.

SPEAKER_01

It's got um Willem Defoe.

SPEAKER_04

Richard Gere. What? Yeah. Richard Gere. It's it's a horror movie.

SPEAKER_01

Laura Linney with Deborah Messings in it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god, what?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's uh supernatural horror film starring Richard Gere as a journalist investigating strange sightings of a wind creature in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. I mean, but West Virginia. Isn't that also where white underbelly what's the what's the Whitakers?

SPEAKER_04

The Whitakers, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, so let's see what they're seeing. Um so it's based on John Keel's book. It blends real life events with a fictional narrative.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. The book is what took this like nationwide. Uh I think it came out in 1970.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think so. I don't know. I mean, do you believe that there could be some sort of No, not at all. Of course you don't.

SPEAKER_02

I mean it well, it I don't know. It's I wanna say because it happens at night, it makes it more plausible.

SPEAKER_01

But why couldn't it be a humanoid creature?

SPEAKER_02

Like what like a fucking like a guy that like fucked a moth I mean, yeah, you're probably right. I mean, I'm not soars through the skies. I'm not a hundred percent sure on anatomy, but I I don't think a moth and a human can fuck.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I think the the idea of it being this like weird humanoid creature was because the areas that it's been seen is around where they did like test sites for World War II and shit.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like the munitions plan. So, I mean Yeah, but that's like fucking everywhere, like in like by Vegas. There's like fucking chupacabras or whatever from all the bombs and shit.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I saw a chupacabra.

SPEAKER_02

No, you didn't.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I did. Could have just been uh coyote with mange, but whatever. I mean, um, but so the omen of doom is kind of like if you see it, like something terrible's gonna happen.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's like the the bridge connection where like Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That it's a you're gonna see it prior to a catastrophic event, right?

SPEAKER_02

Which it took fucking over a year.

SPEAKER_01

So it's like I mean that fast. Some some people think it was an owl. I'm like, mm, don't owls eyes glow like yellow?

SPEAKER_02

I think so.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Did I tell you I fucking I hit an owl and killed it? Like this was years ago, and I felt so bad. Uh, because I was driving to work and it's dark, and I was I was on a country road, because I was just the fastest way.

SPEAKER_01

Was it like a big, like one of those barn barred owls?

SPEAKER_02

Is that it was big because so like I came over a hill and it was like it was just on the other side of the hill, and I could see it like hopping.

SPEAKER_01

Oh shoot.

SPEAKER_02

And they're like, if I would have jerked, I would have You would have died. Yeah. And so I fucking ran it over, and I was like, fuck, I bet that was an owl.

unknown

Oh no.

SPEAKER_02

And so after work, I stopped and it it was an owl. I felt so bad. So bad. I think it's like bad luck.

SPEAKER_01

I think so. I also hit a cat.

SPEAKER_02

Well, if that's good.

SPEAKER_01

There was nothing I could have done. Like it was a two-lane highway, and it just came out of the cornfield like a fucking wrecking wrecking ball.

SPEAKER_02

And I like a fucking deer. Like I hate like when you see deer on the side of the road, like for some reason, they have to fucking jump out in front of you. And it's like, God damn it, just fucking stay where you are.

SPEAKER_01

It's so weird though. Like, so I remember going, you know, when dad died or whatever, there were so many deer on the side of the road that didn't even fucking move. When I go and do my girls' trip in the Ozarks, again, deer everywhere. Like, we'll take the golf carts out, and I'm like, oh look, deer, deer, deer. And they're just like, just looking at you, not jumping out.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Here, they're dumb as fuck. Oh, I know. It's literally like it's in the middle of the day, and you're like, where the fuck did that come from?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Deer scare me all the time. Whenever I'm uh riding my bike, because you you don't see them, like you're just focused on the trail, you know, and yeah. And then like I had that happen once. Just fucking run and you shit your pants.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god. I had four jump out, like this was years ago, um, over by one of the lakes that I used to live by and was riding my bike, and fucking four of them just yeah, I don't even know how I didn't fucking fly over the goddamn handlebars.

SPEAKER_02

Speaking of shitting your pants, uh I got a fucking story that happened.

SPEAKER_01

Uh Did you shit your pants again?

SPEAKER_02

Friday, no. So I uh I was driving for work and so I stopped at at a gas station and I was like, I'll just get like a protein bar. Like I'm not hungry.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But like I fucking have to have something, you know. So I got one, and you know, like gas station uh options are usually like garbage. Yeah. So I was looking and I was like, oh, this one has like no carbs, but a bunch of protein. I didn't look at how much sugar alcohol was in it. Uh it had a fuck ton.

SPEAKER_04

Oh no.

SPEAKER_02

So I ate it and so now I'm like outside of the city, like where the towns are pretty far from each other, right? And I'm like, oh god, I'm gonna shit myself. So I'm doing like fucking 90 to get to the next town. And you know, so it only has one gas station.

SPEAKER_01

And you're just like, you're sweating. You're like trying to like get off of the fucking I have to like think of something else.

SPEAKER_02

Like maybe if I sit like it's deeper or I'm fucking sweating with the AC on full fucking feeling.

SPEAKER_01

Like, oh god, please just stay in there.

SPEAKER_02

And so I I get to this town, and you know, it's a one gas station town, right? And so there's signs all over, you know, of like no public restrooms uh for customers only or whatever. Yeah. And I run to the bathroom, and it's it's also like their store, it's like uh, you know, like a male-female, like it's only one bathroom.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh and but it's like their storage, like that's where they put all their cups and shit. I'm like, that's fucking gross.

SPEAKER_01

Isn't it so gross?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, these little uh so I'm in there, like I'm shitting, I could fill a five-gallon bucket.

SPEAKER_01

So sick.

SPEAKER_02

And so, you know, it's a really small gas station, right? And I can hear uh like the owner of the gas station like arguing with a lady, because I think he he kept like giving her like cigarettes, and she kept saying that she would pay him back, sort of thing.

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And so he's like, I'm not giving you any more fucking cigarettes. And I'm in the bathroom, like, you know, when it hurts so much, you're like, oh like they can hear me clear as day because it's just you're just every every time I do it, they pause.

SPEAKER_01

You're just destroying the bathroom.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I'm I'm like, oh fucking hey.

SPEAKER_01

And then you gotta walk out.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, exactly. And there were there was like two guys waiting. I'm like, fuck.

SPEAKER_01

You just want to apologize beforehand.

SPEAKER_02

And so then I got like a bottled soda because I ain't fucking using their fountain.

SPEAKER_01

Ew, no. But I need to rehydrate after that shit.

SPEAKER_02

That that was awful.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god. That's the worst feeling. You know, when I worked in the small towns and had to like go check on patients, and I would literally be going from one to the next. I'm like, oh god, oh no, I can't go to that place anymore. There was one time the only thing that was in this town, like the only like restaurant, because there was 1,000 people at the tiny gas station. And so my other option was a subway. I go into the subway, and there is a small like high school kid mopping the floor in the ladies' bathroom. And I was like, I can't. I go, ah, and I look and the men's is open. And I'm like, sorry. And I literally just went in, fucking locked the door and just fucking oh, oh my god, this poor kid. Because I'm sure that was like his next duty. Like fuck duty, but it was so embarrassing, and I was like, just the walk of shame. Like, I got I'm just scared.

SPEAKER_02

Where it's like everybody knows that you just destroyed it.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. So then anytime I went through that town again, I was like, I cannot go there.

SPEAKER_02

Uh there's no way. It's funny at work. So we don't have any female employees there. So the women's bathroom is our shittin' bathroom.

SPEAKER_04

Oh god. Rose.

SPEAKER_02

Because I mean, why only dirty one when you could dirty two bathrooms?

SPEAKER_01

And it's all guy. I mean, so you guys know if somebody's in the ladies' bathroom, you're taking a shit.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And like nobody cares. Like women, we would never be like, well, we don't have any men that work here, so that's the poop bathroom. Like, we're not gonna ever claim that. Like, mm-ha.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and that's we're always like, we can't hire a woman because then that's gonna just ruin our whole shitting bathroom thing.

SPEAKER_01

I you guys are on a schedule. Oh.

SPEAKER_02

But let's see. What other fun little facts about the old mothman?

SPEAKER_01

I don't really know enough about it.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I mean, it's just like so, and that's the thing too with like a lot of cryptid things. So it's always sightings, it's never actual fucking evidence. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Like, could you get like a piece of a wing?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like a fucking feather.

SPEAKER_01

How about a feather, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or do moths?

SPEAKER_01

Well, I don't know. That's why I'm like, is it a moth? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? We don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Is it a chicken?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But like a seven foot long bird, that's kind of crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but I mean, but the fucking sandhill cranes, I mean they are huge. And when they're flying, they're they look like they're like seven feet tall.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that is true. You know, with skinny little legs.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'll give it that. I just think people when when bad shit happens, people look for something like an excuse. Well, yeah, and like, oh, well, they must have seen the Mothman, and that's why this happened. Not like the train derailed, the bridge collapsed like you know what I mean? Like clearly there was some sort of structural problem with the bridge, or yeah, because it was built in 1805. Like, I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Let's yeah, it was made out of straw and mud.

SPEAKER_01

They're like it fucking Yeah, like it was the oldest uh wooden bridge. Well, guess what? Wood rots eventually. Like Oh, fucking.

SPEAKER_02

Have you been to Worlds of Fun?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I don't do roller coasters and shit.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, because they had the worst fucking ride ever. It was the Timberwolf. I don't even know if they still have it.

SPEAKER_01

That rickety thing, I have been on that. That thing was made out of wood, wasn't it?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it was a fucking wooden roller coaster.

SPEAKER_01

I'm okay with never doing that again.

SPEAKER_02

It literally breaks your back because you're fucking like getting jarred around.

SPEAKER_01

The last time I was there, I went on one where you sit with like it's four people.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

And it's like right when you walk it spins. And it spins as it takes you around. No.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I think they changed the name because I believe that was called the Oriental Express.

SPEAKER_01

No, that was the original roller coaster, was the Oriental Express, and I think they had to change it. But then this one was like the something typhoon or I don't know. Yeah. Because that it was fairly new 15 years ago, maybe. I don't know. But I just I don't like that shit.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I mean, I I like roller coasters and shit, but like I have to ease into it. I can't just go like fucking balls deep straight into one. I have to like get on like a kitty ride first.

SPEAKER_01

You know, get I know get my bearings. Hey, let me like work myself up to this. Yeah. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_02

But the fucking the timber wolf, did I ever tell you I got stuck on it?

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So we were like almost to the end, right? Shit. And it just fucking stops.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

And we're all just sitting there. It's a thousand degrees out. We're in the fucking sun. And this the like operator guy, he comes running out, super gay. And it was like he was freaking out way more than any of us. Oh, well, this must have been super great. Yeah, this must have been like his first day or like the first time it's ever stopped. You know, he's like, everybody, just please calm down. We're gonna get the ride going as soon as we can, but just please don't leave your seats. And we're all just sitting there, like, we're fine. We're just hot as fuck.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, spray us down.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. We're like, nobody's freaking out.

SPEAKER_03

Oh no.

SPEAKER_02

We know this happens all the fucking time on this stupid ride. You know? Like it took, I don't know, fucking. We were probably only sitting there for like a half an hour. But like when you finally get off of it, you're like, you know what? I'm fucking done with this place. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, you're just like, like, oh my god, I just had to sit in this fucking thing. Yeah. Exactly. No, thank you. Did you ever go on one of those detonator things? Where just go straight up and yeah, like your legs are dangling.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Nope.

SPEAKER_02

I see, and that's like it hurts my neck because it's like like when you're going up.

SPEAKER_01

No, thank you. That sounds fucking horrible. Yeah. I would go to Oceans of Fun. I love a good water slide.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And I love all the piss that's in it.

SPEAKER_01

Well, there's like enough chlorine to like kill like multiple people.

SPEAKER_02

That was it. Me and my wife went to uh Adventureland.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_02

One year.

SPEAKER_01

I haven't been there in forever.

SPEAKER_02

And I want to say it w it was fucking super hot. And we're the lines were so fucking long that I think we we did one ride because we waited like an hour.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god, what a waste.

SPEAKER_02

And so then we just went over to like the the water park part of it. And we're like, we're just gonna fucking stay here the rest of the day.

SPEAKER_01

Seriously. If you put me in water and it's hot, like I'm good. I don't need me, I don't want to go on a fucking ride where like somebody's big sweaty ass has already just been like soaking in the fucking sweaty coochie smell. And then you like get off because they're all like plastic or like that fiberglass shit. Oh, your skin's left behind.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Well, but so the the water park, it had a like a swim up bar, you know?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, nice.

SPEAKER_02

So we have a couple of drinks or whatever, and I get out and go pee, and I come back, and cause it's like busy as fuck there, you know, like that's where everybody, all the adults are there.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, yeah. They're letting their kids fuck around.

SPEAKER_02

And so we're sitting there for a while, and I'm like, nobody's going pee. Everybody's just fucking pissing in that pool.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Like nobody got out to fucking everybody's just staying there and just fucking pissing all over.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I'm sure. Yeah, it's so gross.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I know. Like community pools. Yeah. I like double duty clean my swimsuits after those because I just piss on them that way. It's your own piss.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's fine.

SPEAKER_02

That way they get used to it.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Remember when people would lie and they're like, if you pee in there, it turns water blue. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I think that's just to stop kids from like pissing all over. Yeah, just uh freely pissing the whole time.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

But it is fun though, peeing in water. Like when you're in water peeing.

SPEAKER_01

Because it's warm.

SPEAKER_02

Well, just because it's like it feels so unnatural.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that you're like, I shouldn't be doing this, but I Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You're like, my my shorts are on. And that shouldn't be happening.

SPEAKER_01

Well, just wait. It'll happen later on in life. Yeah. You're gonna be pissing in your own pants a lot.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I know. I mean, I can barely fucking hold in my shits.

SPEAKER_01

Right? I know. Should have done that sphincter test that dad did.

SPEAKER_04

What?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. Used to like sign up for like experimental testing, and one of them one of them was he had to like hold a it was like sphincter pressure. And he like won. Like, I don't know, he got paid for it because he could like hold his sphincter muscle for like the longest time. I'm like, yeah, no shit. I mean, because I'm sure other fuck seriously. So he would always claim that he had the strongest sphincter.

SPEAKER_02

That's so fucking crazy. Seriously. Oh, geez.

SPEAKER_01

I know. He was a hoot. Look at us now. We're talking about shit.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Now, now it's almost a goal every episode. Like, let's just it'll happen. It will happen.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. What's my cup say? I poop today. Oh, if you need me, I'll be in my office and it's a shitter. Um, oh yeah, I pooped today, and it's like a voting sticker. My friend made that for me. Pretty great. Well, I think we debunked the uh Yeah. We it's clearly a crane.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we we put our finger in it or on it.

SPEAKER_03

Yuck.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So uh I think that'll about do it. Yeah. We did a whole lot of not talking about the Moth Ball.

SPEAKER_01

It's about a bunch of rando stuff.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But Mothman, if you have any takes on it, let us know. Shoot us a message.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, maybe we'll revisit. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

It's getting we'll figure it out. We had some shit planned for outside, but it's 1,000 degrees, so Yeah. We have to talk to you guys about something. All right.

SPEAKER_02

We just pulled this one out of our ass. So, like always, like, subscribe, and do all that fun type shit. Uh and we'll see you on the next one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Please pretend to be kind to each other. We love you.

SPEAKER_04

Peace. I can't fucking see. And there.
