This week, we're travelling to Wichita, Kansas, where a series of brutal murders would leave an entire community living in fear.
As families woke to terrifying headlines, investigators searched for a killer who seemed to vanish without a trace. Bound, tortured, and killed, the victims of this unknown offender would soon become part of one of America's most infamous serial murder cases.
In Part One, we'll explore the early life of Dennis Rader, the dark fantasies that drove him, and the chilling crimes that marked the beginning of his reign of terror as the man who would become known as BTK.
So grab a drink, settle in... because this case proves that monsters don't always hide in the dark.
No. My god, she I went to Waterstones because I really needed a new book because mine's fucked. I went and got myself one, and then obviously I've got myself that Pride and Prejudice one as well, which is like slapped so I spent so much money. And she was like, I feel like a few days before payday, I'm just like, nothing counts. Yeah, it just doesn't matter to replenish my account. She was like, Oh, do you have a Waterstones card? And I was like, no, but I should get one. And then she was like, Are you a student? And I was like, no. And then she was like, Oh, you're just obviously super useful, youthful. And I was like, okay, let's like calm down. Like, let's not. Anyway, and then she was like, Oh, can I have your email then so I can do the Waterstones card? And I was like, Yeah, of course. And then I was like, 1997, and she was like, 1997 because that's when you were born. And I was like, yeah. She was like, that's when I was born. She was like, why do you look like that? Literally though, bro. I feel like you don't you act your age. You act mature. It's not like you give off that you're younger than you are, but you are youthful. Oh in the looks department. I'll take it. I was like, I'd love to hazard a guess as how old you thought I was. Yeah. Students? Yeah, 97. Student babe was 30. Like the fact that she was blown away by you being almost 30 means that she must have thought you were 20. Potentially younger. I forgot to put her vents free so that she's not having a good job. She'll chill out. One day, when the pod actually takes off, I'll get an actual proper up-to-date MacBook that doesn't sound like this. Follow us on YouTube. No, it only started when I downloaded Sims on her. It's like my Mat book couldn't take it. It's because we download mods. Willow, why you've got to be right next to the mic and pandemic? I want you to be involved, my little Shaker, but you're awfully loud for how small you are. I can literally see her breaths on the mic. Wait, hold on, stop. She doesn't have an enemy of it. No. Okay, but you have to It's fine, I'm sure you'll just hear if you hear breaths, just know it's Willow. Yeah. She's She's part of the team. She's yeah, she's vibe. She's a spooky girl this week. She just wants to be part of it. Maybe I'll move it away from her a little bit so that maybe you can't hear it as much. Kelly's just popped off in the GC. Oh, we love it.
SPEAKER_00Hello, mate Angels.
SPEAKER_01I love that this is like our little Oh, I changed my back look, my background.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's so cute.
SPEAKER_01Us the man menacing. What the fuck are you doing, Widow? I've moved it away from you and you're getting closer to it. I mean like that. What are you staring at? Yeah, don't do that. That's creepy as fark. At least it's really long days now, so it won't get dark and we'll just be in here with her just staring at the door. Yeah, speaking of people just gasling. This woman today came in and she was like, I'll have a baguette. And I was like, sorry what? And she was like, I'll have a baguette. And I was like, Oh, I don't have a baguette, I don't do baguettes. I was like, we don't do baguettes, and she was like, No, your sign outside says you do baguettes. And I was like, no, it doesn't. She was like, Yes, it does. And I was like, I'm so sorry. She was like, what does it say? And I was like, it says bagels. She was like, it says baguettes. And I was like, it was really annoying because I know that it doesn't say baguettes. Yeah, but it's like I didn't even know how to spell. I was like, I know it doesn't. I know it says bagels because I put that sign out every day. And then I was like, you know, when you're just like having these weird doubts, and I was like, no, it does. She was like, I'm gonna go and look just to confirm. And I was like, okay. And then she just went outside and all of us must have done. And I was like, guys, it definitely doesn't say baguettes, does it? They were like, no, it can't. We've never done a baguette. We've never done a baguette in our lives. And she just came back in, she was like, uh, yeah, that's on me. I read that wrong. No. I've worked here. We've never done baguettes. And also, even if I wrote it on a sign outside and I've said you're not getting one, she was like, I was adamant, and I was like, Yeah, I know. Just what? Just so people who know anything have so much content. It's crazy. Literally. You sleep in there, my little Shayla. So, welcome to Kill the Mood Podcast. We're here to talk about everything spooky-dooky. We are not professionals and we mean no offence in anything we say. This is just us trying to make sense of the senseless. Without further ado, this week's case is BPK. Which is such a cool name for such a wet wipe of a mouth. Yeah. As soon as you said that, it made me think of that song from K-pop Demon Hunters as. It's a TikTok! As soon as you said it, I was like just about to start singing it after her, and I was like, nope, no, no. Yeah, yeah, take him down. He is. Yeah, I'll talk about it in the It's gonna be two spoilers. But it's just two parts of us just losing our heads. Yeah, two parts of us talking about this wet wipe of a man. Yeah. Yeah, and he's just like it's actually embarrassing that he's a serial killer.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01He it just How didn't they catch him? That's my big question. Is he obviously was like prepared enough to get away with it, but he was such a bumbling idiot. It actually goes the amount of times that we've researched stuff though, that would with Levi Belfield and we were just like, How is this going on for so long? Like, how is this? I don't actually shut on the police, I don't think, really. Actually, you've got to give them their props because if you know how BTK was caught, yeah, then you know that they outsmart him, which was pretty funny. But it feels like it's maybe not that hard to outsmart him. No. So And it just took them a really long time. Yeah, it just it took a while. Yeah, we're not we weren't there. We weren't there. We have hindsight, but hindsight. Also, we're talking about we're talking about the 70s, like there were fuck tons of serial killers at the time out there just getting up to non-birds. Which one's the most important person to catch today? Um also I do actually feel a little bit reticent to call him BTK because he named himself. He wants to be known as that. So from here on out I am just gonna refer to him as well. Big twat killer. Anyway, shall we get straight into it? Do we have anything to say? We're on YouTube now. Yes, I'm sorry about last week. Yeah, we just didn't tell you that we weren't gonna either. Basically, what happened? We were like, oh, we don't have an episode because we've been really busy. Don't worry, we're doing a litany of them today, so this doesn't happen again. But we yeah, we were like, okay, we don't have an episode. We were gonna release a blooper episode, and I even made the episode. Yeah, and she did the snippet every day. It is a full episode, like you could listen to it, and then I was like, Yeah, this is bad. Not only is it bad quality-wise, because it's just a bunch of stuff cut together, we say some of the most horrendous shit on that out takes episode, and there is a reason we took all of it out. Yeah, exactly. I was listening to it, and some of it I was like, it's just me singing into the mic whilst you piss all. Yeah, yeah. Which is you can hear it, like we'll give the people what they want, but we were just like, I did listen to it and I was like, it wasn't bad, there was some funny stuff, but I it's really. Oh, I took the worst of it out of that. Did you? There was some so atrocious that I was like, that can't even go into the blooper real. I actually deleted it off the outtakes thing, and I was like, we have to be done with that. There has to be no evidence of us saying things like this. There's no evidence that we've ever muttered words like this. We're actually angels. We're good people. But I was listening to it and it was making me laugh, and then I thought, is it just making me laugh because I remember when it was happening and like all the stuff with Mia and Tom that we cut out? I was like, Am I just laughing at it because it was a funny night? And if you were listening to it as an outsider, would you just be like, what? Yes. Because we weren't like, this is all the outtakes from episode eight. We weren't telling you what episode they were from, which is probably good because some of the things that we were saying were linked to it's better that it wasn't linked to a trail scene. Yeah, but yeah, there was just yeah, absolute bouncers on that. And then some of it was just boring. Yeah, it was just us rambling, it wasn't even anything. Yeah, we just wanted to give you something, but we just it was so last minute. And then we were both at work on the day off. Yeah, so we just didn't post them. Some of our friends messaged us. Yeah, we've got a couple messages being like, Are you guys alive? Because there's literally been nothing on the And usually we'd be like, sorry, or this is what's happening. Usually Amy would be like sorry, because I never do that. I literally am just like it's gone, isn't it? They'll live. I feel like I it just left my brain, and then the next day I was like, Oh my god, yesterday was Wednesday. Yeah, even my sister texts me to ask if I was okay because we'd put nothing up on there. Yeah. I think that's her parasocial relationship with me. But she knows that I'm doing good because she listens to the pod. Yes. Thank you for always listening. I'm sorry that we missed it, and we're just gonna stop doing that now. But it's just we haven't done a summer with this pod yet. No, and it's difficult. She's so busy, but also we're so busy, and then we're going away together next week, then I'm off, then you're off, then there's loads of things going on, and it's fun and it's vibey, but then also just sitting down in a dark room. And it's everybody's birthdays, and our friends are having babies, and like and now the wedding started. And not only are we going to weddings, we're working weddings, it's just also when it is time. Oh, a little snippet into what we do. But also, if we're like if we're gonna be having if it's one night and it's sunny and we're gonna sit down and chat shit for a couple of hours, it's usually with Kel, Tom, like. Yeah, we want to go to the pub of our friends. Like, we're just like and you are our mates, but you don't talk back, though. Yeah, exactly. And no one else wants to listen to us talk about murder the way that we want to talk about it. Yeah. So yeah, sorry, but we are trying to be better. And we we have in turn up started uploading stuff to YouTube, and I think I've only got 15 episodes out now on there. Yeah. But I'm gonna catch us up so that we've got all of them out, and then we should be releasing them every week. And that just means if we ever wanted to do anything audio-based in the future, we've already got a platform and it just reaches a load more people and yeah, and like you know it's got the visuals of the snippet one day, maybe we'll record ourselves, and you'll get to see my youthful glow. Yeah, exactly. You're getting ID'd for cough medicine. Yeah, I got I literally uh at Sea Shanty, I got ID'd for I got ID'd, I was the oldest person there, and I got ID'd in amongst our friends buying beers, which is great. People do get pissed though when they get ID'd, and I just think one day you're gonna wish you got ID'd. Yeah. I've got it in the back of my phone at all times. You think it's mad how one day it will just be the last time you get ID'd and you'll never know. That's it. That's the end of it. One more little cruise. I was also dressed like a little boy. I was wearing jaws and a tight stripey t-shirt and a cow hat. I don't think I had the cow hat on at that point, but maybe bought it after then. But God, we were gone. Anyway, that's it, that's all we've got to tell you. It will be better, but we are going on holiday, so Sainara. Record a load, edit a load, have a couple of weeks of just holiday vibes, have a great time. And then actually, to be honest, August is chill. Yes? Yeah, then we calm down and our work calms down, and actually, maybe we can bash out a fucking me stash. And maybe a drunk mystery. And definitely a drunk mystery. And Willow's here, she says hello. Yeah. Willow got scooped out, so she's not very well, but she doesn't like us talking. She's actually a lot better now. She wasn't doing so hot for a minute, but it's just so weird because she does she is just a chill gal anyway. I took into the vets and they were like she's still really chill, so no, she is just chill. Yeah, she doesn't really do. Anyway, yeah, let's see how she likes this murder chair. Yeah, do you want to listen? Yeah. A little ears.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01It all starts on the night of. I feel like I'm so out of practice. Yeah. My god, what the fuck? How do we need to do this? I'm also on drugs. Yeah. Amy's taking fucking steroids and she's lost her mind. I'm actually so out of it. It gets better than that. Every day, she every time she's looked at me today, she's not blinked. I'm as a reminder to blink. I know. It's been quite disconcerting. And I at one point I was literally like, can you drive home? Is that okay? I was driving away from the vets and I was like, they must think I'm absolutely whack because I like ran in their leg, hey!
SPEAKER_00And I was like, Well, sorry.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I am fine. I feel fine. I just feel a bit skitty, and I haven't really slept properly in four days. But you're almost done. I'm almost done. And once I'm off them, I'm gonna sleep so good. And then we're going hollow. But that's gonna be feral, so that'll be so much fun. We'll have the best time. Might have to retire from drinking by the time I get back. This always happens. And it'll just be Guinness Galore. I'm so excited for an Irish Irish stout tomorrow. It's gonna be so good. It's gonna be such good bars, it's gonna be such good fun. I know. I don't think I can bring my stripper heels though, because I don't think I'll be able to fit them in my bag. I did get I bought kitten heels, like burgundy kitten heels. Oh, I was thinking of long boot ones. Oh no, you know my disco. My discourse. Yes, oh my god, they have to come. I know, but they're so massive, they'll take up so many. Can't you put them around your bag if they got clips? Not clips, but like Oh yeah, maybe. So you could just have them dangling off the bag. I bet Ryanair just don't charge me extra for that though. You'd be like, for this disco scene. Yeah. Do a little dance for them. Morning! Anyway, so it all starts on the night of January 15th, 1974. The Otero House in Wichita. Joseph, 38, retired Air Force mechanic, Julia, 33, 9-year-old Joey, and 11-year-old Josephine. Nine-year-old Joey lets their family. Joseph, Joey, and Josephine. And Julia. And Julia. JJJJ.
unknownSorry.
SPEAKER_01Shout out to the JJJ Joey J. Shout out to the JJJ. That is a mad. Yes. That is so mad. Like already being like, oh, Julia and Joseph, it's like, maybe you shouldn't then be like, should we have some kids and the Kardashians? Why did I just say their name like that? Kardashian. Kardashian. Jesus fucking Christ. The Kardashians. Are they all gonna die? Family. Yeah. Not the Kardashians. Yup at some point. Not by my hand, but I decided to say. Yes, yes, they are. Okay, so let's stop. We always do this. I'm sorry, we're not laughing at the situation, we're laughing at the fact that they've all got J's in their nose. That's it. Anyway. A nine-year-old Joey lets their family dog out through the back door, and as he does this, he comes face to face with a man with a gun who forces his way into their home. My words are fucking terrifying. When you let the dog out, and then like when I let Tom out there's nightly week I'll watch out in the night, and then she'll go off into the garden. I'll think I can't see her anymore. And then I think, what if something just ran at me right now? But like that is the image of a human running at you as well is so terrifying. I don't like that at all. You're gonna be editing that anyway. No, that's horrifying. Get away from me. Yeah, it's bad vibes, it's not good. None of this is good, all of it is scary. And actually, after I did, because I literally fucking rushed through this two-part up on my research together, and I was like, oh my god, I've done it so quickly. I think I might have written it in an hour and 15 minutes, which means it might not be good. Oh my god. Yeah, it was so insane. How do you do that? It took me all day to do my two-party. Sometimes I just lock in and start writing a book. I'm just doing that for fun at the moment. I've just decided I'm gonna write a book. And it will no one will ever see it. It will never see the light of day. I'm certain of it. I really want to. But I've written 38 pages, 9,000 words. What? That's a dissertation. And that's not even six months. It's not even including separate documents of character sheets and backstory. Yeah, it's I don't know. I've got such my level of autism is like a few. Yeah, my level of ADHD means I could never. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If it's activities, I can lock in. Yeah. If it's concentrating. Tom Tom thinks I'm really funny because I literally just I will have four months obsessed with something. Before writing this book, it was reading. I was obsessed with reading for such a long time. And then before that, it was painting. And then before that it was flipping furniture. Or that I hyper focused on something for a couple months, and then I lose all interesting. Before that, Sims. Also, I feel like that does happen to me. I do have projects that I get really obsessed with, but then I just feel like if it's something that I have to like sit still, I can't. Although I have started reading a book on my phone instead. Yeah. And for some reason my Kindle is just absolutely wrecked at the minute. I turn it on and charge it to a hundred and then after one night it's just dead. So I think I need to maybe get a book. I've not had it quite a while. Yeah. Yeah. But that's actually helped because I like to sit and read a book. I love nothing more than reading a book. But I think the act of me being like, I have to switch everything else off and read this book, where I don't know. Yeah. I just find it really hard to do. I'm still reading, but I'm not locked in the way I was. Like, I'm not fucking reading four books a week anyway. No, you're absolutely not you can do that. I literally have read two books. Yeah, but I also am incapable of doing nothing. Yeah. I cannot sit and do nothing. People are like, you should welcome boredom and people just sit on their bed and just think. Nope, get out of my way. I don't even particularly love doom scrolling. I I tend to do that. That's why I like knitting though, because if I'm listening to a podcast or an audiobook, I'm still doing something with my hands so I can concentrate on it. But I'm not getting needing to do something with my hands and then going on my phone. But reading, I just feel like it's No I am getting better. Yeah. No, I I literally love reading. I just I just yeah, and well, I don't like silence. So I'm just always doing something. And Charles Bucket loves it because the World Cup's on right now, and I'm not fighting him about watching any football. To be fair, I'm actually enjoying it. Don't tell him I said that. He doesn't listen anymore, so it doesn't matter. Yeah, I actually am quite enjoying it. But we watch every single match. Yeah. And they don't start until five o'clock at night and they go on until 11 o'clock at night. But because I'm in the middle of writing a book, I literally don't care. And if I was on my reading fixation, I wouldn't care. See, also, even if I was watching something as dire and boring and drab as football matches, and I was trying to do something at the same time, I couldn't read with the TV on. That's so crazy to me. I literally cannot do. Also, I was trying to tell Tom I have to sleep with TV on, and it's because in my brain at night my brain just does this. Nam na nam nom na na nam na na na nom na. And it doesn't, I swear to god, it's not talking to me, it's doing that. Exactly that. It'll be like that, and then I'll be like, I can hear everything. Like I can hear the fridge making this noise, and I'll be like, I don't think something's shut downstairs. And then I'll be like, I can hear the wind really far away. And then I'll be like, don't think about that, and then it'll be like and I'm just like, okay, that's why it's so unsettling. I also can't watch TV because otherwise I just wouldn't sleep. It's so mad. It's so mad. It's the only thing that I and I literally I can lie there, I'll lie there and I'll be like, yeah, I'm gonna try tonight. I'm really gonna try and not have something on, and then yeah, I'll just be lying there and it's just going, yum, yum, yum, meam, yum, meh, yum, yum, meam, meam, meh. And the only thing that stops me from being able to not it's still going odd, but if I can like hone into listening to something, they'll let me go to sleep. I read this book ages a book ago about trying to separate, maybe I spoke about this before, but trying to separate your head voice so that your head's actually quiet. And what it was trying to make me do was like take it out of my brain as if it was like something someone else in the room with me. So if it started like spiralling or just being too much or being too loud, you could just be like, the fuck up, and then it was like peaceful, and I read it four times that good. And I shouldn't think in a single word. And I literally would sit there and be like, that's a good shout. Just get out of my head, and then my head would be like, What do you mean, get out of your head? And I'd be like, just go over there, and it would just literally be like, I can't get out your head. Anyway, sorry, we've been so far off, so I'll just the AD. I don't even know how it's a called. Uh little combo of autism and ADHD. Yeah. I think mine's just ADHD, to be fair. I yeah, I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm not sure. But I don't fancy getting diagnosed. Yeah. I'm sure it's fine. Yeah, it's alright that I can't sit with my own thoughts, isn't it? That's no big deal. Tom does always You really do need to speak to someone. No, it's literally fine. I just have to be busy at every moment of every day. And then I don't have a single problem. I'm too busy to be unhappy. Just distract me, guys. Anyway, that's why we do a pod now. Yeah. Okay, so yes. Face to face with a man with a gun who forces his way into their home. And what the family doesn't know is that he has already cut their phone lines. Oh my god. He's been there, he's parked up far away, he's walked to their house because he's specifically targeting them. Good, and then he has already cut their phone lines. So the family to begin with. Do you think he just read one of those no, what are they? Those like chain mail things that are like, someone's gonna kill you with the name. Oh my god. And it was like I'm really go with that with Jet. The family obviously initially thinks that this is a prank, as you would. I'd literally be like, Yeah, you're having a laugh. No one's actually robbing me right now. And but yeah, ha ha!
SPEAKER_00Fucking gun!
SPEAKER_01That's a scream. Yeah. What are you gonna do with that? Water pistol. Are you fucking joking? I would just immediately be like also that's uh immediately straight away. Do you not think that would take such a bruise to your ego? You're in somebody's house.
SPEAKER_00And don't worry, I'll have a phone line.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna phone line.
SPEAKER_00Where's the cameras? Where's the cameras? You dress like that, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, it's not a prank prank. So he begins to play mind games with them by telling them he's just a guy on the run who needs money in a car, and he doesn't want to hurt anyone. So if they comply, they'll have no problems. And obviously the parents are like, we're gonna do this to try and protect our kids. Yeah, I'd be like, if we can take this money out, please take what you want. Like, yeah. So he orders the family to a bedroom where he binds them all with rope that he brings himself. So already, I if I was in that room, I'd be like, Why you got rope? Why bought that with you then? I'm just actually trying to feed my kids and I just need a bit of money. Ignore this. I don't like that. Don't like that at all. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So the insane enough rope to type four people and he's just that from the car.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna go out and I'm gonna kill someone. Do you know what I'm gonna do? Four at once. Yeah. For your first kill. What are you doing? You look weirdo. Yeah. So the insane detail is Joseph Sr. Yeah. Obviously, dad. Complains that the ropes are hurting and that he's like lying on a bad rib from Nicole an old car accident. Okay. And he helps him. He gets a pillow for him and like loosens his bindings. Yeah, to make him comfortable. Before he murders him. Yeah. So after he does this, he secures a bag to Joseph's head. Honestly, this is like when men are like, oh, I'll put my coat down over a poddle and then I'll cheat on you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'd literally die for her, but not put my penis in another woman. Couldn't be me. So chivalrous. Hey yeah. She didn't like that. She did not like that. People did not like that. She's a man's girl. Um, so yeah. He secures a bag to Joseph's head, but Joseph manages to chew through it. I yeah, don't love that. That's not a great visual. No. So that is reassuring that you can do that if someone puts a bag over your head. Well not always, but yeah, he then replaces the bag and just leaves him to slowly suffocate. Oh. Yeah. I don't know if it's I think he does it to the kid, but I think I also read somewhere that he might have put t-shirts over the head as well. After he chewed through the bag the first time. Okay. He literally physically couldn't chew through it again. Oh, that's horrible. Yep. Nightmare, mate. I'm so claustrophobic that if you just no, yeah, same. Same. I'd l yeah. I think I'd I think I'd pass out screaming if someone was trying to put that there. I was trying to get out of the lift put something in the lift the other day and then the door was shutting on me. And we was with someone from that I don't speak to that much. And I was like, literally totally fine in conversations, the door started shutting, and I'm like, no, don't drop me in there! And they were just like, what? And I was like, nothing, nothing. I said nothing, I didn't say anything at all. Just she ran up three flights of stairs to meet the liver. So annoying. So he then strangles the mother, Julia, with a rope, but only until she is unconscious, so he doesn't kill her. When she wakes up, she pleads for her children's life. Oh my god, oh my god. And then he kills her.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01The kids are still alive. So I don't know which is worse. I wouldn't want to see them get killed, but at least I don't know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. Do you know?
SPEAKER_01I just think it's all bad and there's no good situation for this. He then sets up a chair in front of Joey. And he puts a plastic bag and two t-shirts over his head, and he just sits there and watches him struggle and eventually die. Oh my god. Yeah. Scum. Then, if you didn't already think that it was bad, it is only getting worse. Because he then takes 11-year-old Josephine to the basement, he strips her, he hangs her from a pipe, and then he watches her struggle as he masturbates.
SPEAKER_00Oh my fucking God.
SPEAKER_01Later it is discovered we probably should have trigger warning this because I know that obviously it's murder and it's all really bad. But this is particularly bad. Cheers. Sorry. Oopsie. Yeah, we can edit the trigger warning in before. But trigger warning not for me and Willow. Yeah. Willow don't care. Uh so yeah. Later it is discovered that before she was murdered, the killer asked her if she had a camera so he could take some photos of her. Like did you think she was gonna be like, yeah, she was a good one. Yeah, and also I read here that he said she asked, What are you gonna do to me? Or maybe am I going to die from him? And he said, You're gonna be in heaven with your family. Spreading more bullshit, are we? Yeah. Jesus. I just think that's actually minging that you can be like, Yeah, I am ending your life, but I'm also gonna tell you that you're going to a lovely place with no proof. Oh babe, do you not know he's a full-blown Christian? No, he's a full-blown cunt. Sorry. For sure. Big time. So he also steals a watch and a radio and leaves in the family car, but realizes that he's dropped a knife in the garden, so then just returns in the car. Like, there's so much of this stuff that you're literally like, he is such a bumbling fucking idiot. And also, how many weapons was he carrying to drop a knife and not realise till you get back to the car? Yeah? Oh, you're not. I've got four weapons. They need to come back with me because they will have my DNA on them. Aside from obviously the roads. Yeah, but like maybe he's wearing gloves because I actually don't know what his gathering is. And if he's wearing gloves, don't drive your car back, just leave it. Why did you take their car at all? I'm just so among it. Why? Why did you do that? Plan at the start. I hate to say it, it was foolproof. Like if you're pondering far away and you've already cut the phone wires and you're sneaking in through the back door, and I assume he's worked out where like security is in that set of like a 70s as well. Then Bro just walks out the front door, gets in the car, drives back, drives forth, yeah. I'll take it to the parking lot. Oh wait, sorry, I've got a knife, let me go back. Also, how are you not noticing if you're dropping a knife? After yeah, you just murdered four people, as you can. To be fair, like if you're about to try and subdue four people and you've dropped a knife, you're probably like, I'm I'm gonna come back for that. Yeah. Yeah, maybe like fair that he actually remembered it, because after doing all of it, yeah. Leave it. Honestly, dumb, dumb. Also, if CNA or is print or anything were in the system. Yeah. The chances of you being caught is so minor. Actually, I've just realised how he gets caught. One of the ways that they confirm it's him.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01The knife. We'll get that. The knife that he couldn't find in the garden. No, yeah. So then the three older Atero siblings come home from a perfectly normal day at high school.
SPEAKER_00Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_01What time is this? I don't actually know. They must have been quite early. Or like middle of the day, maybe. I don't know why the eleven and the nine-year-old were at home. But the older siblings weren't there, and then they're the ones who found their parents, their brother and sister. Horrifying. Also, he must have been watching them for a long time. Hello. What the fuck? What's just happened there then? They're on time. Oh great. Far too chill about that. Um we live in an advanced world in this house. Yeah, we've live in. We just broke in.
SPEAKER_00Dropped the mic in the garden.
SPEAKER_01Could you imagine how interesting if we did the pod every week from Soma's house that we broke into? So much fun. We just literally the weirdest places that we can do. I don't know why, because we don't record. We don't video record, so there'd be no point. We can just tell people. Just tell people that's what we're doing. Yeah, so um, this man was none other than Dennis Rader. So we'll just do a little bit of background on him now. So Rader was born in Pittsburgh, Kansas, and he was the eldest of four siblings. After his arrest, Rader would tell people that he felt neglected growing up. Because his parents worked a lot and paid very little attention. The thing is, like, I don't think he was. Also, that's such middle child energy, though, isn't it? Yeah. The oldest child must have had most of the attention. Yeah, because at some point you were the only kid with any kid. And also it tends to be that the oldest child, if the parents aren't paying attention, you take on the natural role of being the parenty one and then looking after the children. Also, sorry that they were working too much that you could survive. What? Get a grip. There's some people that have had the most worst childhoods ever that turn out to do less bad shit than this guy. And you think that's an excuse because you felt neglected. You weren't even actually neglected. Maybe Bro just was the only child for a bit and was like, this is where it's at. And three more kids, and he was like, fuck you then. It does stink of that really. He's giving only child energy, but had to share this with six other people. I bet he was a little neak. I'd be like, yeah, leave that child alone. Don't. Let's not talk to him. Me with any child at home. Yeah. So yeah, he's born in Pittsburgh, Kansas, 1945. He's the eldest of four. Oh yeah, sorry, I've already done that. Growing up, Raider's sexual fantasies very quickly become about trapped and helpless women. Good job. He cuts out women from like mags. Mags and stuff and pretends to bond. He just I don't even know where it comes from, and maybe I feel like there is something about him saying that he found maybe a bondage porn magazine at quite a young age and really enjoyed it. Which is nothing wrong with bondage, right? Nothing wrong at all. But when paired with he begins torturing, killing, and hanging small animals. What? Yeah. Like, how easy would it be to just knock this shit on the head quite early on? I know it's the 70s, but there's been so many times where, like, and I'm not saying that the parents it's their fault, because I don't think it is, because some people just turn out you could have done everything and someone could still turn out to be an absolute terror. But if you're noticing that your kids hanging the dog. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. Maybe I think it's time to put them away. Like, you might be putting other people in danger, maybe. Yeah. Like. I don't know how you see any sign of a child killing animals as anything other than they don't respect life. Literally, and if there's seven of them in that house, there's no way he's going unnoticed. Yeah, someone's gotta have seen that at some point. Yeah, someone must be like, God, what's his name again? Oh my god, stop texting me. Dennis Raider. Dennis. Someone's probably just being like, oh, don't go in there, Dennis is just tying up the Barbie dolls again.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Totally normal. No big deal.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I just yeah, you can't convince me that like I if I had a kid and they started killing things, I'd be like, yeah. No. I'd be like, lock him up for the rest of his natural life. Literally. Because he'll do some harm. Yeah, just not maybe putting two and two together. I don't know. We can never be sure. Hindsight's 2020 though. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01I would have seen a monster like Dennis Carming though. Yeah, there's just no way. I've met some people in my time that have been like, you're gonna turn out to be a bad seed. Yeah. And they weren't even doing a serial killer. But yeah, they they weren't murdering animals for fun. So it's said that he often spied on female neighbours while dressed in women's clothes that he had stolen from them. Which is just such an interesting image. Like what? And I don't just think I don't think it's just like they're knickers. Do you know what I mean? Like they're like And why why all of a sudden are you wearing them? And then not getting out the way? Do you know what I mean? Being like it's like playing with fire, isn't it? It's being like not only am I stalking you and watching you, but if you see me, you'll know that I also stole your clothes and I'm wearing like it's like playing with fire, isn't it? But what' wh why go through all that effort? Yeah, I don't know. I literally don't know. It's I steal everyone's clothes to be fair. I love wearing an item that's not mine. Yeah. I obviously don't steal it. I love the thrill of it. Yeah, obviously stealing it from a woman's house and wearing it outside our window. Can you fix my brown top before Ireland?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Do you have one? No. Oh, that's so sad. Yeah, that's it. The Irish hose. Yeah, I'll try to fix that. Oh, can you but I probably can just lock in on an evening and just eat it. Yeah, it's not everyone's best start to make curtains, are there? Also, worst case, I'd just buy some curtains. I've got curtains, I just need to cut them for my car windows and then re-hem them. But even if I just put safety pins where they need to go and I haven't actually sewn them, they'll do just for one time and might encourage me to actually get on with it. And he also masturbated with ropes or bindings around his neck. Which is called autoerotic asphyxia. Is that what it's always called, or is that what it's called if you die from it? I don't know. But it is a shame that he didn't die from it. Because that would have been a good one. Bro, imagine just coming home from school and your siblings just chilling. I just don't doing any of the things that I've done. I actually would love to know if there's anybody that's into that stuff, that's listens to this podcast, that would be willing to tell me how you got into it. Yeah, like how you figured out that's what you enjoy. I'm just I'm just is it that gamble between life and death? Is it the feeling of like how did you just have this innate feeling that was like, I want something around my neck? Because people always say as well, if you're like in sex and then you nearly pass out, it's supposed to be like mad orgasm times. Yeah. But I mean the fear that has to be people that are willing to go quite close to tempt toying with life and death couldn't be me. Yeah, also I get it, but it is cutting off. To get to that point, yeah, exactly. And to get to that point, like how did you get there to that point? Yeah, and listen, I'm not Kink Jamin, I'm just super intrigued. Yeah, yeah. I'd love to know how you got into that. Yeah. But just by yourself in your family home is a bit bit broke. It is a bit broke. I don't know how old he was when he started doing that either. So, in 1996, no my god, why did you what's wrong with it? Jump 20 years. In 1966, he joins the US Air Force and he was an antenna installer and maintenance specialist. I put that because I thought join the Air Force and then you're in an antenna installer. That's not that much in the air, is it really? I think you can take Air Force off your CV. You're just a bit off ground. I think you can put glorified maintenance man. You're just hovering. Yeah. So Raider once credited the Air Force for teaching him about sex. What the fuck does that mean? Teaching. And I literally put what the fuck. Teaching? For teaching him about sex. Also, what who taught you what were they teaching you? Because I feel that you're doing it wrong. Yeah. I feel. I just don't think anyone should be teaching anyone. I don't know. Uh that's fine. I didn't want to. No. I did just put WTF though. Because I just was like, what what the fuck does that mean? I don't understand. From what Bro's already been up to. Teaching is just such a strong word from any party involved, whether he's getting tall or he's doing the teaching. I just feel like I think no one's paying any real attention to this man. And I think that is probably fundamentally his biggest issue. Because that's all he wants in life is to be noticed. And then that does make people do very peculiar things if they aren't. So in 1971, Rader marries Paula Dietz. They would go on to have two children, Kerry and Brian. And he, at around this time, was became an elected leader of their church council. Again, just wanting to be like, I've healed people, I've saved people. I am the be-all and end all. Oh, I think he just really loved the double life. Don't really know who I am, know what I can do. He's supposed to be like a healing person that's a safe space. Yeah. Like where people come in safeguarding issues a lot of the time. Because the church is where you go if you haven't got anywhere else to go, really. Or in vulnerable positions. And then what he's doing behind closed doors is that's adding to the whole him stalking women in their clothes, is like he's just pushing it even more because of the thrill. Yeah. But he's a rotten egg. Interesting to see what he actually does. Maybe we'll go more into it, but of a Christianity perspective, is it because he wants to justify doing all of these bad things saying he was it was because of God, or do you think he just was like, that'll just do for the lie, for the vibe? I can use people that are vulnerable. I think he like does he believe it? I think he does. I think he maybe is like all American. I don't know, yeah, I'm not sure. I didn't see that much about it, but I think maybe he is maybe a big part of him uses it as a cover for the all-American life. They get married, they have kids, they go to church. That's what they do in America. That is what and to become an elected leader in the church means you're like in the stuff. And you're doing it. And I think he fucking he gets some gratification out of knowing they all think that they know me come this good guy, but actually I'm a piece of shit. Willow, kill it. Willow joking, I doesn't care. But he's trying to go to your tattoo.
unknownBack off.
SPEAKER_01I was just curious whether it was just like you know how sometimes people are like, if you were like a leader in a Mormon sort of type situation, you'd be like, I've been chosen to do this. Use it as a platform to do loads of fucked up shit because Yeah, and they start pretending to be prophets so they can have sex with children. Exactly, exactly. Or is it just that he knows he needs to keep up the alibi? I think he uses it as a cover so he can get away with what he's doing, but I also think that he like is that. He just really enjoys having this persona and knowing that he's the only one that knows that what he's really and what he's really up to, and he I think he gets off on that whole thing. Yeah, fair. So in 1974 to 1988, he worked security services where he installed security cameras in people's homes, and this is how he found some of his victims, and this is how he gains access to some of their houses, which is fucking terrifying. And I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to. And that's a long time as well, so he could just like log a security system and then not do anything to do with them for six months or whatever at a time and go back to it, and people wouldn't put two and two. Yeah, they're not gonna think that's what it was about. Exactly, because you're just doing it. There's so many people that you must go and do that for. Yeah. Oh, so scary. Just like people being in your home that are just Yeah, though I after I did this whole two-part her, I was literally like fucking gibbing out. And I think Tom went out to football or something. And then I was just like, now I'm scared. Yeah, what if the boiler managed? Oh, she went out to football and then he was like to me, Oh, you the bags, like the bins are still outside, can you go and get them? And I was like, Oh yeah. And then I was like, I don't want to leave the door open behind me because what if there's someone in the house when I get there? And then I was like, what if there's someone already in the house and they've been waiting for Tom to leave? Yeah, and then it's what if that nice boiler man last week was actually taking down all of my information about when I'm here and when remember that guy from the bank, but like Yeah. I had I handed this guy my ID and it literally just told him where I'd moved to so that I could change it on my bank account, and then he was literally like and then he started hitting on me. Yeah, yeah, it was really uncomfortable, and then I was just like, and that he wouldn't give me my ID back, and then I was like, This man now knows where I live. Yeah, and you just handed all of that info over, rightfully so, because you're at a place where you need to do that, and someone has taken advantage of that. Anyway, it's funny because it's been years. Uh it's been years, so I don't live there anymore, so he doesn't know where I live now, but and I do still see him all the time. Yeah, we saw him so often. It's maybe anyway. So now we go to April 1974. Raider breaks into 21-year-old Catherine Bright's house through a sliding glass door. No one is home when he gets there, so he literally breaks through the door, so he cleans up the glass because he doesn't want to alert her to the fact that he's there, so he doesn't want her to notice it straight away. Wouldn't realise that it's actually open until it's too late. So he cleans up the glass and he also accidentally discharges his gun because it's got like a hair trigger. Oh my goodness. Yeah, so that is coming up in one of mine. Is it? Yeah, something to do with that, and I was literally like, how, how? Yeah. Just every time I'm like, how do these people have guns if you literally can detonate, disarm, oh just throw up. Yeah, it's wild, isn't it? But I was like, again, so fucking fumbling. Like, and like And none of the neighbours were like, was that a gun? Yeah, well, I don't know, I don't think it had any bullets in it, but I think he accidentally banged it, and then he was like really worried that she was gonna smell gunpowder when she walked in. Also, I just like to say, I don't know about Americans, but does the average person know what gunpowder smells like? Because I know frame of reference. Toaster bin or I'm having a stroke, like literally got no idea what gunpowder smells like, and therefore would not ever walk into my house and be like, someone's just charged a gun in here. However, if she lives by herself, yeah, I don't live by myself, so I come in and it's just like someone could have just cooked something or someone could have just whatever. It won't I won't know exactly what I wouldn't know if anything was up, but maybe she would be like, that smells like burning. Yeah. If I when I lived alone, I definitely like if someone had been into my flat, I think I would have noticed. Yeah. Pretty common. Almost so comical that he's been like, oh, let's sweep this up, get the dust pan and brush, make sure it's in the glass bin. That looks good as new. Bang! Shit. Yeah. Shit. That's just bumbling. It's fucking bumbling. Literally a comedy sketch of him just doing stupid shit. So yeah, he accidentally discharged his gun. And what he also doesn't actually realise is that her brother is staying with her at the moment, and suddenly her 19-year-old brother Kevin walks in with her. So I don't know how this is the thing that's like really annoying, is because he obviously manages to subdue them both. He also says about this whole situation, in his own words later on, he said this may have dissuaded him if he had known that he was staying there. Because he was trying to stay away from the males as much as possible. And it's you're such a pussy. This is you're like, oh, I'm gonna try and stay away from the men, that's too difficult. That's too difficult. Okay, thanks. I'm just gonna go after a vulnerable winner. Yes. Who I think live alone. And it's also saying as to what his agendas are, if he's saying, Oh, I'm just gonna stay away from the men, is is that because necrophilia is involved? Is that because masturbating in front of kids is what you're into? Like he's a weasel. He's a weasel, he's a little wiener. Yeah. Yeah, so he makes Kevin tie up his sister, and then Rader ties him up. Oh my gosh. And he does his whole, but to get them to subdue them, he does his whole I'm a wanted man. He then separates the siblings into different rooms and then goes into the living room. This would terrify me to be fair. Goes into the living room and turns up the stereo so that no one will hear them struggle. Oh my gosh. But Rader basically obviously he's put them in separate rooms. Raider goes into the room where Kevin is, and Kevin's managed to get free of his bindings. So they have this big scuffle, and Kevin almost gets the better of him. Raider manages to get his gun and then he shoots Kevin twice in the head. Oh my good lord. Yeah. I am baffled how no neighbours are like that. Was a gun smash window, gunshot. Then a bit of quiet, half an hour later, mad volume, and then potentially two more gunshots. What are you guys doing? Because I hear every noise in my house. Literally. Every noise. If my neighbour I heard something that sounded like a gun and then half an hour later they were playing the stereo mad loud, I'd be like, You right, babe? Yeah. I'd be on the phone to the police immediately. Literally, I'd be like, look, they might just be having a party. I don't know where they are. I'm gonna assume it was quite a residential area because it doesn't feel like a girl living alone would go somewhere in the sticks. I just again, maybe gunshots are just not that big. Not that big a deal. Because I used to live. And I used to live right in the countryside, like in the middle of nowhere in a field, and you would hear gunshots if you were on a walk, people hunting. I wasn't like, oh my god, someone's just been killed. But in a residential area, yes, I freaking would be like that. Kevin actually somehow survives this. And he runs out into the street bleeding and screaming. I think he said that he managed to survive it because he, as soon as he shot him in the head twice, he played dead. God, that's so smart. Yeah. Imagine in that panic as well, being a big one. Yeah, smart enough to remember to do that. Mad. I would say. So um Raider, meanwhile, goes into Catherine's room and then says to her, She says, What was that gunshot? The gunshots, and he said, I shot your brother. Oh so she starts fucking freaking out and she's like, I'm gonna fight him with everything I have. And he can't overpower her because he wants to strangle her, but obviously he can't overpower her because she's too strong. So he stepped instead. And then he runs. Yeah, obviously he needs to. So you w you wanna hear his fucking fumbling on this one? He tries to he runs to her truck, he tries to steal it and take it, but it won't start. Why would you take a car? Take a random person. So he just gets out and he runs. Why she hate him? Because Kevin lives, the police actually get their first description. Yeah, and their description is a plain looking guy with a mustache. Yeah. It's alright, Andy, it's just balling! That's literally what I'm picturing right now. A plain guy. Yeah. A plain guy. And to be fair, I just escaped it. Kevin got shot in the head as well and his sister death. I'm not mad kicking off at you, but a plain guy with a mustache. Yeah. Surely that face is in your brain for the rest of your life. Yeah, I don't really know like what his get up is, but I think he must have been. But he is, I don't know if you've seen him, but he is a really fucking plain looking guy. Yeah, I have seen him. They're all just merging into one. Yeah. All of the serial killers we've done. Yeah. On October 1974. So same year, he really does fucking ramp these up. Raider is furious that the press isn't treating him like the criminal mastermind he is. Oh, here we go. So he calls the newspaper and tells them, calls the newspaper, and he tells them that he left a letter for them in an engineering book at the public library. And he really wants to look like an intellectual genius, but the letter is full of awful grammar and embarrassing misspelling. Oh my god, you would literally just think that at least you would just make it. It's the real deal. This is your one shot. He's trying to be a zodiac. He's trying to be a zodiac, but like he can't be able to get it. He's left it in a library.
SPEAKER_00There's dictionaries everywhere.
SPEAKER_01What are you talking about? Just no. I don't know what it is about spelling for me, but it just makes me so fuming. Yeah, that is so bad. Sometimes, obviously, I'm not mad good at spelling, and I would never judge anyone for not being good at spelling, but it's if someone's trying to maybe on a dating app, for example, if someone was the first time they ever spoke to me trying to say something funny that also is slightly not even slightly, but just some people's accounts would say something that's borderline misogynistic but can be seen as human. Cheeky. Yeah. And it's spelt wrong. And I just think if you're gonna start with something that's like-sonna try and be like that. Put an apostrophe. Do you know what I mean? Just don't even come at me and make me think that is any intelligence whatsoever. And also, if that's your leading, he's being like, get me on the news. Yeah. I am a mastermind. Yeah. I am one of the smartest fuckers. And the only reason why I'm giving you this letter is because you're taking too long and then it's not spelt right. And I just think. Yeah, you'd be like fucking idiot. Get a life. Yeah. Again, these people thinking they can take lives and they can't spell. Can't spell. Can't even spell. Just get a grip. Crazy. Get a grip. Should have spent less time tying up your barbies. And more time at school. More time at school. Oldest child, my fucking ass. Yeah, he has not given off that energy even Sligo. He's giving off only child energy. Also, there's no valid excuse of- Oh, he was a mass murderer because he was an undiagnosed dyslexic. Yeah. They don't go hand in hand. They're not the same thing. So in this embarrassing letter though, this is where he says, and I quote, the code words for me will be bind them, torture them, kill them. B T K. And that's where he gets his name. So yeah, he named himself. Himself. Himself! Fucking basic behaviour.
unknownKiller.
SPEAKER_01So he's so desperately insecure that he forces his way into the spotlight because unidentified killer isn't dramatic enough. And then he tries to sound like a genius while totally butchering basic spelling. It is the way though, isn't it? Because it's once you've started, you either get caught or you have to stop. That'll just be like you couldn't just kill every world. So it's like I guess he's just gonna keep pushing it and keep pushing it and keep pushing it because you have to go bigger and bigger. Don't name yourself though. That's not how nickname is. It's just embarrassing. Is it not the most embarrassing thing in the world? Look at little teefies. Let me take a picture of that and I can put it on Instagram for the watch her wake up as soon as you try.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, she's dangerous.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you know. She's the best.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Just you could have an elite nickname, like elite, and then some you could I could be like, that is badass. Yeah. Someone could be like, yeah, they just gave it themselves. Yeah, they're like sorry, what? Yeah, there is nothing more embarrassing than somebody giving themselves a nickname. It is so icky. So icky. It's crazy. That is just the worst. Don't even try it. He also says in this letter, I did it by myself and no one helped. That's exactly the way he said it, by the way. Oh, he's just the worst. Yeah. Because at the time, three brothers in a psychiatric care unit had actually falsely confessed to that a terrorist. That's why he's kicking off his name. So that's why if it's unidentified, there's a bit of elusive. Ooh. No one's taking credit for his killings. Yeah, if someone else has said, oh, that was me, he's been like, No! Yeah. I don't mind them not knowing, but don't you dare say it's you, it was me. Yeah. So March 1977, he targets Shirley Vianne or Vian, maybe that's Vian, 26. He actually wasn't planning to go after her that day, but he breaks into another woman's house and she just doesn't show up. He waits for her for a while and she's not there. I thought that this is the one that maybe he left the poem for, so that's a bit later. He looks for a random victim. This is so sad. So he decides okay, I'm gonna look for a random victim instead because the person I was gonna kill hasn't panned out. He spots a five-year-old child walking back from buying his mother soup because she wasn't very raw. Raider approaches him and then has a conversation with him, and he shows the kid a photo of his wife and daughter and says, Do you know these people? And the five-year-old child incorrectly says, That's my mum and my sister, and then basically he uses that and follows the kid back to the house. So he gets to the house and he does the whole wanted man routine again. And Rada locks her young children in the bathroom at gunpoint because he like struggled to tie them up, he couldn't subdue all of them, so he just locks them in the bathroom. And being like, I stay away from the men. Actually, go through the women and the children. What do you think that's giving you about like, oh yeah, I like gave them like toys and blankets and stuff so they were comfortable in the bathroom. Oh well done!
SPEAKER_00Nice of you. What are you doing?
SPEAKER_01Aren't you literally manipulated a five-year-old into getting him to bring you home? Yeah. So then and then killed his fucking mother. Fuck off. They have to sit in the dark and listen to their mum fight for her life while she is strangled. That's so horrible. Um and then yeah, they're found later on after he leaves the scene. So in 199 uh 1977, sorry, he targets Nancy Fox. She's 25, and she is one of his projects, as he calls them. And he's been stalking her for some time. She wasn't in when he breaks in, so he waits for her. Probably. She returns from work and discovers him and begins to scream. He tells her that he's cut her phone lines and only intends to restrain and rape her. Oh, that's nice. Yeah. But she basically she starts to comply because she's this is the only way I'm gonna get out of here. Um, it's horrible. He makes her undress and then he undresses himself partially. Get away. He then gets on top of her and strangles her in and out of consciousness for a while until she dies. And obviously, he's killing them, so like he's a piece of shit. But the other thing is you don't get to be like, I'm into torture porn, yeah, without finding other people that want to do that with you. Yeah. There's a whole network of shit out there where people would do that for you. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. It's this part of being like, and I'm just gonna do it to whoever I've decided I want to do it to. Yeah. That's what we're saying. There's the actual act itself, it's like we're just curious how people get into that. Yeah. This is fuck fuck off. Fuck off. So afterward, there's literally a place you can go to experiment whatever you want. You know what I mean? Just go and find people. There are people that enjoy this stuff. There are people that will want to be go to the brink of unconsciousness with you, and you don't have to take anyone's life. Yeah. They would do it with you. It's just about power. Like, it's all about power, the power of life and death, and like having that decision in your hands. Yeah. It's so sadistic and like it's really pathetic. Yeah, it is. It's pathetic that you have to exert that kind of power over someone to feel like a big man. And also acting like it's you're so powerful because you'll go and sneak up on women and rape them when you couldn't just go to a place and have a conversation with someone. Yeah. And be honest about what you're into.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You tell me which one's the fucking worst one to be doing. Stupid little man. Yeah. You are a little, little man. Little plain mustache man. So afterward, he walks right to a busy downtown public payphone, calls 911, and calmly says, You'll find a homicide at 843 South Pershing. Suit yourself. Suit yourself. Also, suit yourself is not even the right thing to say. Yeah, I think he's weird. Well I think he's definitely suit yourself is if they were like, I don't believe you. Yeah. Then he'd be like, oh, suit yourself. Suit yourself. Don't be like, there's a murder. Suit yourself. Yeah. Okay, that doesn't make any sense. Okay, sorry.
unknownReally TVs.
SPEAKER_01So the police from a task force called the Ghostbusters, they play the actual tape of his 9-1-1 call on every radio station in Kansas. Yeah, to be a good one. Everyone listening to this voice, but nobody suspects a friendly guy leading the local Boy Scouts. And that is the end of part one. My good niece. Isn't he a piece of shit, Willow? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's BTK. He is Oh my god. I'd literally die for you. Yeah, he's a real piece of shit. Yeah, not a fan of that. And he's a coward. He's a cowardly man. Oh, gross. And I just don't really understand how he's a successful serial killer. I know, and the fact that he's just got a full-on job, he's got a side quest in the church, he's got a wife, he's got kids. Yeah. And no one notices this start of life. It's not anyone's fault, it's his fault, but just fascinating that people can This is why you should never trust anyone. Yeah. To be honest. Anyone, like religious heads. I don't pretend to. I think it's weird. I think it's weird. And that's all I've got to say on that. Yeah. Agreed. Just no. Don't come at my door with this information. Anyway, I'm gonna eat this crisp, so that's the end of the episode. Follow us on Instagram and email us and follow us on YouTube. It's Kill the Mood Clark.
