Good evening everybody. Good evening, everybody. I'm Peter, and I'm the landlord of the Etsum Arms in Summerton. Summerton's Premier Real Our Bar. And I'm joined here by my good friends Ash and Max. Hello Peter. Hello, everybody. The Etsum Cascad. I should have joined in then, but yeah. We should have had some muscle had some music on now, shouldn't we?
SPEAKER_06Maybe. Yeah, it'll be on. Can you not hear it? There it is. That's it. So we're on the fly.
SPEAKER_04We've got a full bar, although people are just leaving, but you know. Oh yeah. Um and it's a Thursday night, and summer's here. We've all got shorts on. We haven't done it. Cut your legs up. Is this the first one we've done since the clocks went forward? Uh when did the clocks go forward?
unknownIt was in March.
SPEAKER_0426th of March was the last one. That's brilliant news.
SPEAKER_00And why we have the last one you did was in the 26th of March.
SPEAKER_04Nice. And why we have the delightful Sharon, who is the co-owner of the Etsom Arms, who will be serving us drinks this evening. Hello. What we got on the menu today, Sharon?
SPEAKER_00You have we have um a new brewer.
SPEAKER_04Oh Devon.
SPEAKER_00Powder keg, uh the lovely Sam came and dropped off some cans.
SPEAKER_04Cheers, Sam. Can I tell him about the other surprise, which we'll more of later? Go on.
SPEAKER_03He dropped off a pin of beer. Okay, like a bag and box. Well, no, and actually.
SPEAKER_00No, that was a different brewer.
SPEAKER_03Oh, sorry.
SPEAKER_02We'll save that for next week.
SPEAKER_06Fact-checking. There's a little that's even as a spoiler. What's a pin? It's half a cask.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah. Oh. Where are we gonna put it though? It won't fit on our mantle. Exactly. No, we'll I will I will craft something for you. Really? Yeah. Out of what? Oh, I don't know. It'll be at your birthday party. Potentially. There you go. Potentially. There's all sorts of There's not a party happening. There's not. Oh you know. I don't want I don't want the lists to come into it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but you're not gonna tell them when it is or where it is.
SPEAKER_04They'll find it nowhere here.
SPEAKER_03It's just me, Pete and Ash.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And Sharon. I've been every night's a party in the XMR, isn't that?
SPEAKER_06All I know is I'm getting paid and I'm happy.
SPEAKER_04Anyway. Anyway, so we've got those from this.
SPEAKER_06So is it are all these beers from the same brewer?
SPEAKER_04No, they're all from different brewers.
SPEAKER_00Oh okay. We've got um we've got two from powder keg.
SPEAKER_06Powder keg.
SPEAKER_00One from Arbor Alex.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Well hey, we love that.
SPEAKER_00And one from Tiny Rebel.
SPEAKER_06Nice.
SPEAKER_00And then another one from Delirium.
SPEAKER_04Sweet. We've got Belgium. Since we've last been together, Sharon and I have been on a weekend in Brussels. Wow. And uh we drank a lot of beer. A lot of beer.
SPEAKER_06Have you got any any stories from that that we can delve into later on? Or can you say them on a that are safe for work, so to speak?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, no, I think I can I can tell.
SPEAKER_03I can. I don't think a lot of we say is safe for work. Well, this is work. It's got an explicit tag on it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I mean, it's edgy. E for edgy. You'd be disappointed if the AI fucking pissed off.
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, we guaranteed that. No, I I put it on, it's not the AI. Oh, really? Yeah. Why'd you do that? Because it says you have to it's like accepting terms and conditions before you publish it. It says Oh, so you're just declaring it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, nice. Does this content?
SPEAKER_06So are we also have you also mentioned that we will be sampling a couple of the cask beers this evening? As we are. Yeah, some cask cast. Yeah. I feel like we've um we've had many weeks where we've just canned the shit out of it, so to speak. So we canned all that. Yeah, we. Although we are we have some cans. Well, I think as I always said, we're a broad church. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Double double business at this point. We like cans, we like casks, we like kegs now. Oh, kegs are on now. A couple of kegs.
SPEAKER_06A keg's the same size as a cask in terms of pintering.
SPEAKER_0488 pints in a keg. How many's in a cask? 72. Ooh. Yeah. Interesting.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04So the Why is that then?
SPEAKER_06Who made that rule?
SPEAKER_04I don't know. It's probably to do with a metric system.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Casks are in gallons.
SPEAKER_04Casks are an old English imperial. Yeah, I think so.
SPEAKER_06So how many litres is a keg?
SPEAKER_04So I've got all the crafts. 50 litres, I think. 50? Yeah. That's a lot of litres. I could I could have gotten a few more. How much is that in diesel then? It's fifteen litres of diesel, you know. What's heavier? What's heavier? A ton of coal or a ton of feathers?
SPEAKER_06Depends who's lifting it.
SPEAKER_04That makes no sense whatsoever. Anyway, anyway. I'm sure the listeners are fascinated by this scientific discussion.
SPEAKER_06And for philosophical.
SPEAKER_04What are we drinking? What are we drinking? That was what I was going to ask, actually.
SPEAKER_03That was a great segue, man. I just wanted to make sure you didn't think it's a little bit more. I don't know, sorry.
SPEAKER_06No, like dear, don't be able to do it. If you want to say it, Pete, and I can cover my.
SPEAKER_04So, gentlemen. As we freshen our palates, looking forward to the delightful range of beers that Sharon told us about. What are we drinking?
SPEAKER_06Ash. So I'm actually on my second point. So we got it a bit early. Is it because it I think it's the lighter evenings? Yeah, it's nice. I had a day off today. It's been um uneventfully eventful. We'll get on to that. Have I got a story for you? I'm already shaking after you said that. That's horrible. Anyway, all will become clear. Just like my um immune system now. Yeah. So you're on.
SPEAKER_00What about your shit sandwich today?
SPEAKER_06My shit sandwich.
SPEAKER_04Oh no, that's that's a whole segment in itself, which we'll come into.
SPEAKER_06We'll tease that. Stay listening. So my my first piece is Dog calling someone. Onto the drinks. Yeah, stop. He's got that dog in him tonight. My first drink this evening was a pint of uh Petey's pick of the week, which this week is uh an IPA called Sinbin from Tiny Rebel Brewing Company.
SPEAKER_04We will be tasting that for the listeners later on.
SPEAKER_03Why they're and they're in Newport. Newport in Wales. I thought they were I thought they were in Cardiff. Do you get any other Welsh Welsh in? Do you get any other one? I don't think we have had any other Welsh. Are you part Welsh? I am part Welsh. Well, I was born in Wales. Hang on. I'm a bullshit.
SPEAKER_04Is there one nation in the nation? Yeah, Scotland.
SPEAKER_03Commonwealth that you're not a part of. How do you get some Scotland in you? I haven't got. I know a guy. Yeah, yeah. There you go. I've got Welsh in me. Did you play your cards right? I've got Irish in me. Yeah. So wait, so you were born in Wales? Yeah, I was born in Wales. So I don't have any Welsh ancestry, but could you play football?
SPEAKER_06I was born there. Like Gareth Bale. Is he Welsh? Yeah, he was probably Welsh. Do you know any other Welsh footballers?
SPEAKER_04Uh Aaron Ramsey.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah. Did he play for Arsenal?
SPEAKER_04Not anymore. Or did he? Not anymore. No. Football school. He played, he went to school with my cousin. Did he? And my second cousin?
SPEAKER_05All the same?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Same, but over different actions. Especially around here. She brother's uncle.
SPEAKER_06So yeah, so I had a pint of that, and that was lovely. And I'm sure I'll give you my actual review when we give it another taste later on. But it went down very well. It's only a 4.1%, very refreshing. Um and then I had some this morning.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was um I was You got caught, didn't you? I didn't get caught. I was I wasn't like hiding it.
SPEAKER_04You I I was in uh that there London this morning, so Max tapped the beers. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I could tell you about my little night out with my son in London. Just go for it. Will we do that right away? No, well, I'll save that for a bit. It wasn't I mean it's not really dramatic, but we drank some great beers. I'll tell you about the beers we had. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_06So anyway, so the second beer I'm on now, which now I've got there, is um a nice pallet cleanser. Obviously, it's the Bristol beer factory, gravity, the lager we all know and love. On keg, nice and cold summer today. Yeah. Moving on to you, Max. How are you doing? That's disgusting. Have you had a nice week?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's been alright. Yeah, we've had a good time. We went to uh we went on a little travels. I don't know if we've got that story. We're gonna be talking about it. We've got a lot of stories tonight.
SPEAKER_02Tell you what, this show's gonna be jam-packed full of stories. I'm worried it's gonna be too jam-packed. Yeah, but we're gonna be here for two and a half hours. Imagine being the silly bastard who has to edit this.
SPEAKER_04You watch it worth about 46 grand a year? I reckon. I reckon this will cost you more, Pete.
SPEAKER_03I'm just worried whether when I'm gonna be able to get it done. I might have to do it tonight and tomorrow afternoon.
SPEAKER_06Well, anyway, that's not for the that's not the listeners' quarrels to hear about.
SPEAKER_03Our problem.
SPEAKER_06Your problem? Not my problem.
SPEAKER_03We're just a telling. What are you drinking, Max? I'm drinking uh Bristol Beer Factory Gravity. Shout out the second point as well. Yeah, because it's I like to have something neutral, but it's not neutral. I guess we always refer to it as a platelet cleanser.
SPEAKER_06I think it's neutral in here.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It's not like bombastically bombastic. Bombastic. Yeah. It's not ketcastically. Castastic. We put that in in the edit.
SPEAKER_05I'm Mr. Lauba Lauba.
SPEAKER_04Only five seconds of it.
SPEAKER_03I don't know the rest of the words. He's Jamaican, isn't he? I don't know. That might be really butly. And on to you, Pete. Anyway, yeah, thanks for all that. He's Jamaican American.
SPEAKER_04Uh okay. What are you drinking, Pete? I'm drinking the Arba Massive Azak. Nice. Which is uh strong one, actually. Yeah, five points four. Um hazy pale. Taste the strength. Taste the strength. But beautiful, beautiful beer.
SPEAKER_06He's gone for a half of that. In his signature half handle.
SPEAKER_03Landlord. You know, there's like a little in the there's like a little like shield on it. You could put like a picture of your face on it. Yeah, or a crest.
SPEAKER_06You could do, yeah. Well, we got a few of those. Just put the skull bit on it. Cut it out. I don't think that'll survive the dishwasher. It won't. I doubt it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so we went to Dark Revolution on Monday.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, should we talk about that after we've had our first beer?
SPEAKER_03We're pushing it all back. Yeah. When are we going to talk about any more?
SPEAKER_04After our first beer. Okay.
SPEAKER_03We had some edge cats. Yeah, let's have our first cats. Uh first beer. We are ready.
SPEAKER_00So this is a tropical session IPA called Hops and Dreams. This is like hopes and I was on in the umil beer festival that's been on recently. So one of our regulars had this at said festival.
SPEAKER_03Oh, shout out Terry. Terry the Bus. One of my favourite regulars. Terry the Bus? He always comes on the bus.
SPEAKER_06No. No.
SPEAKER_03Terry would never do such a thing.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_00He's a very good thing. He recommended that they get in contact and they did.
SPEAKER_04Why is he called the bus? Because he always travels by bus. Oh. Fair enough.
SPEAKER_03To be fair, I've never called him Terry the Bus.
SPEAKER_04No, I just called him Terry the Bus. He's a lovely lovely bus. He does come on the bus. He's a lovely man.
SPEAKER_03I've never come on a bus. Do you have a bus on a bus? Who wants a can? Oh, look.
SPEAKER_06You did a first can, Pete. Oh, I can't read. In any small text, I'll I'll got you covered.
SPEAKER_04This is full of juicy possibilities. Oh, I got that. It's just been ripped. Thank you, Sherry.
SPEAKER_06Oh wait, this one's full of juicy possibilities. I think I said that. You did. This beer is just like sipping on sweet sunshine.
SPEAKER_04Sweet, sweet sunshine. Sunshine I ever have. No, it sounds kind of fatal. To be fair, with the weather we're having, we could all try it, couldn't we?
SPEAKER_03Oh we could, yeah. Just cool. I might be sipping on pure Standing outside with your mouth open wine. What is it?
SPEAKER_02Like uh open filter.
SPEAKER_03Sun You got that vitamin D in your mouth.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03Taking it taking all that D.
SPEAKER_06Yep those rays. Big Ray. Get that big D in your mouth. Ray J. Each in peace, Ray J.
SPEAKER_03Is he dead? No, but he's dying, I think.
SPEAKER_06Oh. He's got like a terminal illness. Fuck. We'll come on to that later. Yeah, we'll come on to the last later. Anyway. Each totally tropical mouth feel, mouth full, makes the future seem that little bit brighter. That's quite nice. Wow. Wow.
SPEAKER_04I'm uh and if we did a if we no, that drinking that one.
SPEAKER_06I thought you were wowing the bit.
SPEAKER_04If we did a check-in. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Should we do a check-in before?
SPEAKER_04Sharon, do you want to run it? Sharon, this is your kind of beer. This is so positive. Do you want to run a little check-in and then we'll drink the beer and see if we're better? Yeah, is this what they're promising? This says we'll be better after. Wow.
SPEAKER_06Azanka. Tell Sharon what it says. Sharon, do you want to read that out? I feel like this is your blurb. Give it another read.
SPEAKER_00Full of juicy possibilities. This beer is just like a like sipping on sweet sunshine. Each I can't read that. What's that say? Totally tropical mouthful makes the future seem that little bit brighter.
SPEAKER_04Well, there you go.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm doing I'm doing a new prescription, aren't I? Glasses. That's why I can't read that.
SPEAKER_03Should have gone to Spec Savers.
SPEAKER_00I have been. Other opticians are available sponsored by. I've been, just haven't got them yet.
SPEAKER_06But it smells like. Are we sniffing? It smells like a dog's mouth.
SPEAKER_04You should know that, shouldn't you, listeners? We'll we'll we'll go into that in a minute. Yeah, that's what we're making out with dogs all day.
SPEAKER_06Do you not think it smells like you know like the a water bottle out of it or a dog's drink out of it? No. No.
SPEAKER_03I don't think it smells particularly pleasant, though.
unknownI'm not getting it on that.
SPEAKER_06No sunshine. No sunshine on my nose.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you know, golden rays. Anyway.
SPEAKER_06Let's clink and drink. First one of the night. Clink a dee clink.
SPEAKER_03Don't know if you could hear that.
SPEAKER_04I think we could.
SPEAKER_06You can do that now, that's yours.
SPEAKER_04Whoa, that's infused me with possibilities. That's quite juicy.
SPEAKER_03That is not what I was expecting. I wasn't expecting that. It's very clear. It's dark though as well.
SPEAKER_00It's 3.4. Okay. That's the point.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Oh, well. And it comes in a 330mm can. What they call powder monkey.
SPEAKER_06That's mad.
SPEAKER_03Oh shit. There were exactly a brewery called powder monkey.
SPEAKER_06Gluten-free vegan. All that good stuff. Independent craft microbrewery found in 2014.
SPEAKER_04That's quite old, really, isn't it?
SPEAKER_06We are talented Indiegate making a drinking beer and dreaming about the revolution.
SPEAKER_04Oh shit. Whoa. Fucking article straight away. To be fair, those boys in the donuts ears will prop up, pick up when they hear this podcast.
SPEAKER_03They should do a collab with Anarchy Brewer.
SPEAKER_06There's a fucking quote on here as well. It doesn't stop with all the Do you know anyone called Harriet Tubman?
SPEAKER_03Yes, you don't know Harriet Tubman.
SPEAKER_06Obviously not. Okay. Who's that then before I read the quote?
SPEAKER_03She's a very famous civil rights.
SPEAKER_06So it says every great dream begins with a dreamer. Yeah. You heard that one before?
SPEAKER_03Uh no, but it sounds like something Harriet Tubman would have said. Yeah, no, she did, apparently. It's written on the can. It says it on the can. To be fair, I like the vibe. She was an al abolitionist. In the abolitionist of the slave trade in America. Well that's that's that's a brilliant thing to be.
SPEAKER_04So, did you say they're based in Yovel?
SPEAKER_03Devil, I know, no, Terry was at the Yovel Beer Festival and he had Where are they where? Oh, I didn't know that was still going.
SPEAKER_04Salteton.
SPEAKER_03Who's the main at the Yovel Beer Festival though, was he? He was at Spoons. And they have all a load of casks on once a year, don't they?
SPEAKER_06Oh. Now who's the main because Yoval Ales used to be the main thing for the Yovel Beer Festival, obviously. But they all shut down, aren't they? Yeah, they weren't. So who's running the show there now? We played a few gigs there back in the day.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but it used to be at Westlands, didn't it?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it was quite big. Yovel Ales went in 2022. It was not that long ago. Twenty-four years. Well, four years. What's happening in four years? We're old now, mate.
SPEAKER_03Could have had a four-year-old kid in four years. That's like a I can't deny that.
SPEAKER_06A seventh of our lives.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm not gonna work that out. Yeah, I just agree with you. You could be wrong.
SPEAKER_04I might say eight point two five of mine.
SPEAKER_06Wait, really? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Well, if I was 40, it'd be ten.
SPEAKER_06No, I said four years though.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_06How old are you now?
SPEAKER_03I'm 59.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah, because you're gonna be 60 this year. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And he's having a birthday party on the Yeah. And it is, isn't it in um You're all invited.
SPEAKER_06If you email in, you can get an invite. To be fair, less people listen to this than there is a podcast right now. And we'll send you the location.
SPEAKER_04What's it having a rave?
SPEAKER_03Secret game, yeah. It's a free party.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Meet at the um meet at the Eso garage at Wirral Park. Where's Wirral Park? Glastonbury.
SPEAKER_06Oh, okay. Near the KFC. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I knew that, but I I only know it because of KFC.
SPEAKER_06Well, is that on the address?
SPEAKER_04I don't think it's an Eso garage anymore either.
SPEAKER_03No, it's changed to something.
SPEAKER_04I don't know. God cares, bro. Don't get me started on diesel. Diesel.
SPEAKER_03Seen the price of diesel. Price of bloody diesel. $120 quid for a barrel of oil. A barrel of oil today. $120.
SPEAKER_06Oh, sorry. Quid dollars, anything. Yeah, well. It's not affecting the price of beer yet. I can't afford any of these beers. When will it affect the price of beer? Do they put do they pass much beer through the Strait of Hormuz?
SPEAKER_03No, but um Little to none, I would expect Strait of Horboo's.
SPEAKER_04Beer making is very energy intensive. Yeah. That's where it'll get you.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's where it will get them. Yeah. That's hilarious, actually. I'm thinking of just like a crab beer. Crab brewery in Iran. They can't get his beer out.
SPEAKER_06That's next week.
SPEAKER_03You should see the shelf in the office, don't you? Not from round here. Do they have are they allowed beer in Iran? Is there any alcohol in Iran?
SPEAKER_04I wouldn't have thought so.
SPEAKER_06That's why they keep sending it out.
SPEAKER_04I'm Googling it.
SPEAKER_03Are there any micro brewer in Iran? Um Alcohol is strictly illegal in Iran for all Muslim citizens and tourists. There are no public bars, liquor stores, or nightclubs. Wait, it's illegal. Yeah. Yes. It's an Islamic Republic, isn't it?
SPEAKER_06I didn't know that. Well, you can't drink in Iran. No. No. What do they do for fun? Welcome to politics tonight. If you're a Muslim. No wonder they're so fucking angry. Anyway, we'll leave it there. Imagine them on booze. Yeah. Damn.
SPEAKER_04So um what are we going to talk about? We were going to talk about um free. I went to London, didn't I? Yeah, oh yeah. How was that? It was good. It was good. I drank bass, proper bass, draft bass. Okay. Isn't that like a fish?
SPEAKER_033.4% or something.
SPEAKER_04It's a bit more than that. I think it's about 4.1. Right, like cask bass. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Because they have it on keg, don't they, sometimes? No, I'm thinking of like whenever I go up north, there's like Stones and John Smith's and Tetley's and all that kind of thing. Rubbish. So what is bass?
SPEAKER_04It's like uh it's like a brown brown beer. Traditional bass. But a very traditional brown beer. No, it's better than that. But you know, we agreed to differ actually. But I did my favourite bit.
SPEAKER_03It doesn't taste like Nukey B either, though.
SPEAKER_06No, but what does it taste like a John Smith's? Yeah, it's very much like Langport bitter. Oh yeah. Do we get some of that on or no? We're not having that. Alright.
SPEAKER_04Um, and then I went to um quite a fancy bar and I had a pint of Deia magazine cover.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, that's nice. Have we had that in cans before? Whoa.
SPEAKER_04It was beautiful. But how much do you think you'd pay for two pints? Fancy bar just off Smithfield.
SPEAKER_03I reckon more. Do you? I reckon I reckon. Seven pounds I've seven pounds round.
SPEAKER_04Fifteen pounds and eighty pence. Shit. So what's that? £7.90. Fortunately, I was drinking with my son and it was his round. Whee! Shower George. Yeah. Yeah. And then we went to this lovely pub and um they had Harvey's uh best bitter, Sussex bitter on cask. Yeah. Which is the best traditional English bitter available in this country. You are good. Wow. I'm gonna put it out there. Nice. If anyone disagrees with it, email in. Yeah. When did you get that opinion? Oh, I've had that for quite a long time. Last night. After my seventh party. Yeah, because it was only four pounds fifty a pint.
SPEAKER_06So how much would something like that be? And how much was the best?
SPEAKER_04That was um that was about 13 quid we were paying for that.
SPEAKER_06For two pints, obviously. Yeah, but still London prices. Six pounds fifty. Well, London prices, man. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03But still.
SPEAKER_04And every and the other thing was like so different around here. Every pub was heaved. I know you're in the centre of the capital, but what time did you go? Uh met George about seven and came on at last orders.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but the weird thing about London is it gets really busy, but it's not very late, so for pubs.
SPEAKER_06No, no, I mean we were They all just go on the way home from work, don't they? We were kicked out. Suit it up.
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, so there's so many pubs in London that are shut by eleven. Yeah. Like when we played there.
SPEAKER_06Because that's when they're all club it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but if you don't want to if you just want to have a drink. Like even down here, spoons is open till two. Yeah, because it's fuck all elves open. Well, yeah.
SPEAKER_06If they're just capitalising on the on being the only ones that will.
SPEAKER_03When we played a gig in London, we finished at like what? Max is in a band. 11th. Follow EMS band at EMS Band. Play one of the unreleased songs. No. Um and we went out at like midnight and like there was just nothing open. We just we had it was either a gay club or we and we found one bar that we had to walk like 25 minutes for.
SPEAKER_04That's no good, is it? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Did you walk 25 minutes for it? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Well that how would they have found it if they hadn't walked 25 minutes? Yeah, exactly. Well, I don't know if you just like Google Maps it and thought, fuck that.
SPEAKER_03You type I typed in on Google Maps, but pub's open now.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and it worked. Yeah. Cool, modern technology.
SPEAKER_03Anyway, on to the next beer? Yeah, I think so. I think it's a bit busy though. Yeah, we'll let Sharon. Let's have a story. I just feel like we're waffling a bit. We need we've got one story that we can have now. Alright. Are we not going to have another beer and then have that story? That's what I mean. I don't know why it has to be so rigidly structured, especially if Sharon's busy. Just tell a story.
SPEAKER_04What story we tell me? Well, go on then.
SPEAKER_03If you fucking want to tell me, we went to Dark Revolution on Monday. Oh, that's gonna take a long time.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I don't know if I'm drunk enough for that one yet.
SPEAKER_03God, what are we gonna talk about then?
SPEAKER_06My one? No, but not yet. Yeah, go on. Okay. It's quiz now and there's pressure on me. Yeah. So I so today I've had a day off today, a nice Thursday off. Exactly. Had a lovely morning, went to the gym. Had a nice uh I had a massage, which was lovely. Whoa. Yeah, beautiful. A nice relaxing day. What was that noise? Was that noisy? Oh, that was you. That's you having a massage. Yeah. Happy ending? No. No, very professional. I'm an athlete, Pete. Alright? You're not talking to Max, you're talking to me. I'm not I'm not a traveller seeking a good time. I'm an athlete in recovery. Okay. So add that, you know, and I thought, oh, I could have gone straight home because I was feeling kind of like Zen, as you would. Yeah, um, could have gone straight home by thought, nah, I'm gonna go get a coffee. I love my coffee. Yeah. Gonna go to a cafe. I'd never been heard um good things about um olive in Mar Marto. Okay. It's like a sort of cafe in a tent, and I was like, okay, I'll go there. Um turned up, it was a really lovely day. Went in there, ordered, ordered my food, ordered a coffee. What food did you have? I had a uh flaffel and halloumi wrap. Okay, it was like bougie. Like, you know how they like dribble shit on the plate? Yeah. Yeah, it was like that. Like the the the jus.
SPEAKER_03Bet that cost you London prices.
SPEAKER_06Uh I think that and a coffee was like £19. Whoa! For a wrap and a coffee. I could get two pints of magazine cover in central London for that. Exactly, that'll fill you up. But anyway, so I all I put I sat down, placed my order, I thought, ah, go to the toilet. Went to the toilet, came back from the toilet, I thought, oh, they got a little stand here from like a bakery that they use. I think it's Lovito, which I don't know where they're based on. That's Lovington. Oh, is it? Yeah, okay. Okay. So they had some breadfakes cakes. Shout-out Cobbs. Yeah, they had bread on there, they had they had some really nice looking cakes, had a little walk around there, and um, yeah, there was a um a lady paying for her meal, I assume, at the till area. Yeah. And I just walked past and um this little yappy fucking Yeah little yappy dog was was stood there, walked past it, and it sort of jumped at me. And I famously don't like dogs. Yeah. But I really it's not that I kind of like hate them. I just kind of like I've always let them be if they let me be. Yeah. Which I thought was respectful. I thought I was quite I wouldn't I wouldn't go if they're more take a dog, can I?
SPEAKER_04If there are more people in the world like you, the bail world would be at the end of the day.
SPEAKER_06Maybe, but in that but then I've also got like a slight like hint of like I don't think we should really fucking I'm saying this quietly because there's people in it with dogs and on the butt like part of me thinks we maybe we shouldn't be fucking just like tying up dogs and walking around town. But anyway, yeah I'll save my those sorts of views for another day. Well we get hate emails. But they're getting they're getting worse now, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I disagree with you.
SPEAKER_06Anyway, we But I like tying up all sorts. Yeah, but that's often consensual, no? Well, my trouble is I think it's I don't like that. My reason I've never done it. My you should try it. We're going off topic here.
SPEAKER_03I tie up all my funds in this place.
unknownAre you ready for your next beer?
SPEAKER_03Not quite. Not quite. Ash is just telling his story.
SPEAKER_06My reason, right? Is often because it's like a seemingly a non-con consensual relationship because if I have a it's like a language barrier. If I can't go, do you like where you are, mate? Are you alright if I straight your head? Yeah. Like if they if I can't get like an audible yes or no, then I'm yeah, I'll just leave it. Anyway, so I was walking past, minding my own business, looking at these cakes, and this dog sort of jumped up at me a bit like excitedly, and like, you know, dogs do that all the time, whatever. And I often just ignore them. I don't even look him in the eye, I don't like to. Um because once you look them in the eye, then they get attacked. Yeah, no, yeah, yeah, yeah. Maybe I'm just a bit scared, I don't know. Um so then I just continued walking on, and then as I walked past him after he jumped up at me, he just then just sort of went for me. I think I don't know if it's because I didn't give it attention or what, but and then it bit me. Oh, I got bit by a dog today. I got bit. And it was like, you know, when you you hear a dog fighting like that. Yeah, and there you go. And it was probably and it and initially I thought it was just sort of scatting out, like just freaking out, and I didn't really know what to do. And I went and I kind of like was near my seat by this point anyway, and I sat down and like its owner came over, and she was a bit like, Oh, did my did my dog get you? And I was just like, I don't know. And I sort of looked down at my leg and like I felt it had hurt, but I didn't know if he'd just sort of like scratched me or whatever. I didn't realise he'd fully fucking sunk his teeth into me. Yeah, he draw back blood, yeah man, yeah ma'am. Ripped a hole in my sock. So I looked down, I didn't know it drew blood until like after though. Ripped a fucking hole in my sock. Yeah, yeah, we'll get there. Ripped a hole in my sock, and and I was just like, well, my whole my sock's ripped. My sock's ripped, but I don't know if it's that bad. And she was like, Oh, okay, she was like, Can I give you anything for my sock? And in the moment I was like in shock, and I was just like, nah nah, it's fine, because I'm that I'm a nice guy. But I wish I'd been like fucking yeah, what have you got? Like, at least give me a give me a tenner for my truck. You know, cotton prices are through the roof.
SPEAKER_04All stuck in the straight hills. Exactly, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. There's a boat full of Pomeranians.
SPEAKER_06So then when when she she then Yeah, good, it's fucking best place for them. How did they get it by a bomb?
SPEAKER_03Did it have to Disclaimer?
SPEAKER_06This podcast loves dogs.
SPEAKER_03I was thinking about uh I don't know, carry on. Finish the story and then I'll get it.
SPEAKER_06So so then people around me kind of like cotton onto what happened and they were like, Are you okay? Like, did it did it? But then I pulled my sock down and I could see that it was bleeding, and and they it fucking fully bit me. But it didn't really hurt much. Maybe I'm just well art, but Yeah, I reckon so. Um so I saw that muscle. So then they gave me like a an antiseptic wipe, like they first aided me, which was nice, and all that stuff. I ate my wrap, drank my coffee. What breed was the dog? Fuck no, it was like a little yappy thing, like a not a Pomeranian, but like a it wasn't a shih tzu, but I don't fucking know, mate. It was like little and it was sort of fluffy and it was white and a Pomeranian, yeah.
SPEAKER_05It was Iranian. Must be with that attitude. No, you can't.
SPEAKER_06I don't know. But I wish I got his name because we'll come on to that. We'll come on to that. This is a quite a long convoluted story, but should we have our next beer?
SPEAKER_04Because one assumes you you're just eating you're eating the wrap at the moment. I'm eating my wrap.
SPEAKER_06The emergency dog have not been called. I didn't use the plaster because I didn't really want to cover it up because I wanted to keep looking at it. But anyway, on to the next beer. You're you're a masochist. What? Yeah, I like the look of it, yeah. Silver spray. Available at Cobbs. I thought that was the stuff you used to stop your radiator leaking in your car. I thought that was what you used to stop vampires. Anyway, on to the next beer. This is gonna be a long one. Wait, I think Harry on with a story. Oh. Oh, we've got there's another customer now. I like you.
SPEAKER_04No, we'll just wait. Charon's just gonna deliver the next beer. Okay, right. This is another one. Oh, it's already poured out now.
SPEAKER_06Oh, we're back on the cask cast.
SPEAKER_00Oh my lord. The Pete's pick of the week.
SPEAKER_06When was the last time we tried a cask beer? Ages ago. Probably like four weeks ago? Four or two.
SPEAKER_04Sinbin from Tiny Rebel.
SPEAKER_00And number three slot is gonna become my guest slot, so of which Tiny Rebel is my first guest.
SPEAKER_03Where are they from, Sharon? Wales. Newport. Newport. Land of your fathers. Newport. I couldn't do a lot of things. Smells great. That was terrible.
SPEAKER_06And one of the first things I said after I had a couple sips of this earlier on when Sharon poured me a lovely pint on entry. You probably know. Um I said it was in great condition. And it looked really nice in a pint glass, the lacing on the glass. I was turning into a bit of a beer snob.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Sharon called me out on. Tiny Rebel have a good reputation.
SPEAKER_04Well, when you're when you're being served by as good a sellerman as us and Sharon, maybe. I expect nothing less these days, to be fair.
SPEAKER_03I reckon it's down to who tapped them.
SPEAKER_06Who tapped him? Who tapped him? Me. Yeah. And was good enough to have a half a pint at eleven o'clock this morning as well. Did you have a full pint earlier?
SPEAKER_03No, I had like less like a half of a half glass because I just pulled it out. Oh right. And then you just filling up when I was filling up the uh colour, colour graders.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03I thought this one's a bit lively. I better better pull some more off. Better pull some more off. Yeah, I was pulling one off. Pull the other one. Right. Should we have a sniff? Yeah. This is Simbim from Tiny Rebel.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. It smells um 4.1%. It smells uh like a perfume.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it doesn't smell um ridiculous.
SPEAKER_06Should we get the blurb?
SPEAKER_03We've got oh we've got the blurb on the beer list.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, blurb me up. Blurb on tap. Can we get the blurb? Do you want me to grab it? Can we get the blurb? Can we get the blurb?
SPEAKER_03Please can we get the blurb, Sharon?
SPEAKER_04Right. Um it's bright. Citrus on the nose, a juicy tropical break down the wing, and a clean, crisp finish. Wow. Down the wing. I think these are all rugby references, aren't they? Yeah, because of Simbin. Ah. Well, that's Welsh for you. Welsh love that rugby.
SPEAKER_03That's Indian. Wait, try again. Was it D Pac Jones? I'm trying to do my Welsh accent. That's not bad. That was a good one. In Wales. Yeah. They love rugby. I can't do it. It goes into Indian. They love the rugby. You can't use that. We can't do this. They're like rugby and India as well.
SPEAKER_06Two years. Four.
SPEAKER_03Oh, it was four. You couldn't tell. I was born in Abogavani. Abagavani. Abigail. And then I lived in Usk for four years. Yeah, then. And then I came here.
SPEAKER_06Where's it? Summerton. Home of the XM Arms. Home of the XM Arms. The premium. Yeah. Premium pub. And and I was going to call it something else, but. Real Alan Mind Bar. Real Alan. That's the worst one.
SPEAKER_03Real Alon strip club. Yeah. No, it's not really a strip club.
SPEAKER_05Poarhouse. Oh my god, it's really nice, actually. There's nothing.
SPEAKER_03There's actually no wrongdoing going on here. No. No. I reckon we could do a bit more wrongdoing.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, we could do a bit more, like, you know.
SPEAKER_03I've never even I don't even think any of the either. So we like this.
SPEAKER_04We like this on the nose. I'm not getting tropics on the nose.
SPEAKER_06I'm getting like Yeah, like I said, it's more per perfumey than fruity. Like it's definitely like Mike's out the stand. Whoa. Bro, you're gonna go do run around the pub and get uh get interviews.
SPEAKER_03Let's clink and drink.
SPEAKER_06Let's clink and drink.
SPEAKER_03Wow. Problem is it's gonna go pfft when I put it. It's not too bad.
SPEAKER_04Oh, love that. That's nice.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, great. That is nice. That is a great bit.
SPEAKER_04See why I made that pick of the week. Yeah, that is a nice one.
SPEAKER_06I think if you you know when you compare that to the last uh tropical infused IPA infused I that's the wrong word, but you know what I mean. We've just tasted that can of that hops and dreams. Granted, this is only 3.4 and that is a 4.1, but I just feel like this is ahead. Yeah. It could be the um you know it could be the cas quality coming through. Yeah, there's definitely the cas quality there. I feel like there's something to be said that we we m probably haven't spoken about much because we're always drinking from cans. Well, you know, there's something about a cask beer that's unique. It's unique in the world, I think.
SPEAKER_04It is, yes, yeah absolutely. And they're trying to make it a sort of like uh British heritage heritage thing, aren't they? That you it's gonna become a protected thing.
SPEAKER_06Sorry? It's a protected thing. Will you get like a government subsidy for having cask ale?
SPEAKER_04No, so what they're saying is you can't you can't because a lot of breweries now are top loading, putting gas into cask to make it long, and they're they're talking about having a defined standard that unless it meets that standard, it ain't cask. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06So I thought that was already sort of like governed by camera.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but camera's not an official government. Yeah, no, this would be legal. It's just like a group of old men.
SPEAKER_06Imagine being the governor for cask ale.
SPEAKER_03The cast alezar. I think this could be my career in politics. Yeah. That I won't get because I've said all so much shit on this podcast.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, they'll pull it up. Yeah, yeah. And all those dodgy texts you've been sending as well. Like, eh. Well, it's fine. Apparently, anyone can get a job in fucking government anyway, no matter what the voting process is.
SPEAKER_03Hey, oh my god, as with a relevant political reference. I'm very impressed.
SPEAKER_01I'm very impressed.
SPEAKER_04Max would be the Peter Mendelssohn of the cascade.
SPEAKER_06Right, so I finished my rap and my coffee. Oh yeah, okay. Oh, yeah, we're back to that. And I'm straight on Google, like like manyone in this this world is. Yeah. You know, what happens when you get bit by a dog? I'm shitting myself. I'm like, am I gonna get reasonable? Is that one of the symptoms? What shit? What's that?
SPEAKER_03I wasn't physically shitting. That was the Halume. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06So there I was like thinking, you know, oh, and then it's like, oh, when was your last tetanus shot? And I was like, I don't fucking remember getting a tetanus shot. And then and then it's just like, you know, what's that dog been having in its mouth? Oh. And I was just a bit scared. Yeah. So I um I took a trip to the uh the ER to play the music, mate. I don't have an ER, man. No, okay. I thought you were lying. Anyway, I took a trip to um well the the minor injuries clinic in Glastonbury.
SPEAKER_04That's not exactly the ER, is it?
SPEAKER_06Because actually, uh we'll just I I think um well, I don't I say You don't get George Clooney, guys. I actually West Mended Hospital. As the as the young adult that I that I'm still trying to be, the first person I rang was my mum. Oh. Yeah, that'll do. I I wasn't blues and twos off. But I actually rang my mum and she was. Did you get the airbo, right? Yeah, yeah. They pulled up, they pulled up outside and stretched me in. Um they didn't. No, they didn't. But I tried to um go to the Buttercross to just, you know, see if they could maybe just give me a tetanus shot or whatever, and they had no appointments available. Classic Buttercross. I don't know if anyone listening's ever experienced that round here. Yeah. Where's the what Buttercross? The Buttercross Health Centre. Next to Tummerton. Anyway, I won't I won't shit talk them, but so I and I I ended up going to Glastonbury to the I think they call it the minor injuries, whatever. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, basically like an A and E. Yeah. Oh, this is nice. Well then they checked it over. Like the actual wound itself wasn't too bad, because you know, only a small dog. Yeah. But they um did my blood pressure, took my pulse. How'd you be P, mate? Yeah. I don't know, they didn't tell me. I guess it was bad, they would have told me. Yeah. So I assume it's good. I'm a healthy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah yeah, every morning, mate. Do they do like well they might have done blood pressure?
SPEAKER_06Oh no, no. I thought you meant just like testing my athleticism and snapping.
SPEAKER_03Your blood blood pressure must have been through the roof because you were so um freaked out.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, all that halloomy. And coffee. Um no, I was kind of freaked out in a way, because I've never been bit by a dog properly, I don't think. No.
SPEAKER_03Um you literally had that dog in you.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I think I just spiraled a bit. So um so did you cry? I didn't cry. I didn't cry, no. But they looked at it, they dressed it, they cleaned it, all that good stuff, and they were like, we're not gonna give you antibiotics just yet, because it is probably fine. Um keep an eye on it, keep it see if it's infected. Um, and we will update your your tetan shot. So now I've had a boost of the tetanus thing, so I'm good for a wait, so you had you had it there? Yeah, they gave me the shot. Yeah. Why do they give the shot? They still don't have the arse. No, I asked for that and they said no. Can you not just put a finger in it? I said, please. No, they just it was just in the um the muscle, like the tricep area.
SPEAKER_03I said the dog must have been homophobic.
SPEAKER_06And I yeah, I'm not gonna say why I didn't.
SPEAKER_04Well, I'm glad you're still with us. Yeah, me to be honest. You know, but also Yeah, the clothes call that one.
SPEAKER_06The funny thing is, I was in I was in the um in the hospital, right? And the lady goes, Did you report the dog? And I was just like, sorry, what? And she goes, You know, you can report the dog to the police if you had its details. And I was like, What fucking details was I gonna get wasn't gonna be like a driving license.
SPEAKER_03To be fair, in that cafe, that dog probably has its own Instagram. Maybe. It's one of them bougie dogs that has its own Instagram, yeah.
SPEAKER_06But like, but in the moment they can't show Instagram, can they?
SPEAKER_04Because they haven't got opposable thumbs.
SPEAKER_06That's why he's been trying to lose his teeth. That's why he's so angry at me, because I was on my phone. Um But no, I I in the moment I was so shocked, like the the lady was like, Can I give you anything for your son? Do you know the dog's name? No, because I in the moment I was like, uh I may as well have said, Is the dog's teeth alright? I was that like Do you know what I mean? I'm a nice guy. I don't know, I was just a bit like ah, it's fine, whatever. But then in hindsight, I wish I'd been like fucking Was the lady fit? Shut that motherfucker down. No. Ah. See, I would have. She was old. Not not say that. You would have what? But um, I don't know. She seemed concerned enough, but not really concerned enough. Oh, so it didn't like um And also then I overheard other customers uh saying that that dog had like been having a go at something else earlier on in the the day or the hour. But it just it's just like how how you how you walking around with your dog that's just biting people like that. It's funny. That's not right, isn't it? But I think but I don't agree with any dog, even if it done bite me, so anyway. I'll leave it there. That's my story. I hope we'll be able to do that.
SPEAKER_04You could have probably stamped its skull I got a little um and names will have to be changed to protect the innocent. Yeah. But I had a story which was um told to me yesterday about someone who woke up and their foot had swolled swelled to about twice their the size. Right. And they described It to me as having like this freaking um like logfoot. Yeah, logfoot. Well that lugger foot. Um so they went to the pharmacy straight away. Yeah, yeah. And the pharmacist goes, um oh it's This is a joke. No, this is a true story, this is. Um it's sinicitis or whatever, yeah. And it's like an an it's a viral infection. Yeah. You'll need antibiotics or you might lose your leg.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Literally, just like you'll lose your leg. And this is the final thing.
SPEAKER_06Well, that's the best way to deal with it these days, isn't it? So so these days, no.
SPEAKER_04The person in question just phoned the GP, like, shitting themselves now because they're gonna lose and live. Is that another symptom? And um got an emergency doctor's appointment, and then they walked in, and the doctor goes, I've read through your notes. Can I just assure you we will not be amputating any part of your body today? Wow, yeah. That's what I was gonna do. And he said, like this pharmacist is just wrong. Yeah. He said all they had to do was like give you antibiotics and it starts to go down, and by the what caused it? Okay. And the and by this morning it had gone down by about 40% because the antibiotics had kicked in. Nice. But the person went back to see this pharmacist and the pharmacist said uh was basically, oh, it's a good job. I I prescribed that and what? He thought he goes, you you you know, you can trust me because I think he thought he was a doctor.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Wow, you can't trust pharmacists.
SPEAKER_06Well, I think you can, but I I it's like breaking news.
SPEAKER_04I don't we don't want to put anyone off from if they have an ailment and the closest point of medical help is to pharmacy. Please do go see him. I do um I will couple of bad apples don't ruin the pot, do they?
SPEAKER_06Is that the right expression?
SPEAKER_03Get your ailments out.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03What ails you. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Anyway, on that topic though, I do get that. Well, this was a what ails you section. Yeah, yeah, here this is our first one. I should have emailed in. I should have answered my email email. Well, my on that topic though, I would like to mention, like, I had this initial, like, I don't know if anyone else gets it. I don't really go to I would say unless I'm really like ill, I don't really go to the the doctors and stuff much. Luckily I've had not had much wrong with me in my life. Yeah. Apart from the obvious. You're a young man now. Yeah, of course. But like I I I had this like sort of like guilt of wasting time. Not wasting wasting time, resources, money, like although like I've fucking paid enough tax into the system to to have my fair share of NHS. Yeah. But I do I do get this like this weird guilt of like, oh, is it not bad enough? But I think I urge everyone because I feel so much better now that I've been there, they've checked me over, I've got a little jab, I know that I'm not gonna get in any because initially I was just like, it was only a fucking little dog bite, should I just leave it? But I don't think you should, and I'm glad I didn't.
SPEAKER_04The thing is though And that's the message I'll send to our listeners. If um I don't know what the cost of resources that were employed on you. No, but they're bound to be a fair few quid, aren't they? Yeah. And if this woman had just kept her dog under control, none of this would have had to happen. Yeah. And on that note, we'll move on. Yeah. And just just as a disclaimer, the Etsom Arms welcomes well-behaved dogs.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, only have you ever had a dog bite anyone in here though?
SPEAKER_04No. Don't think so.
SPEAKER_06No, it doesn't happen often. Well, I work in a cafe, I've never had a dog bite anyway. When you told me it happened, I thought I thought you were gonna tell you.
SPEAKER_03Well When you said it happened, I thought you were gonna say it was like an exile bully or something.
SPEAKER_06But it's so but it's annoying because I actually I'm someone who like generally, like I said, leaves dogs alone. Like I don't fucking they c they felt the off vibes. Yeah, fuck 'em. Not literally.
SPEAKER_01Okay, we're the third one. Yeah, we're ready.
SPEAKER_06So we're back to a can now, boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen. Over the age of 18. Oh, there was a little chish. Drinker is at the ready. I've got one, I've got one, I've got one. You needed more of a crack at the start. Ready? Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_04It's almost like you look round and Sharon was actually pouring the beer.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it was like a it was like a Japanese dubbed mit movie.
SPEAKER_04This is powder cake speak easy pale. It's a gluten-free, vegan, and 4.3%. Have you undone another button?
SPEAKER_06No, I've always had this one I've done. Is it a bit much?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think so. I think one more button would be better.
SPEAKER_06One more button undone. No, one more button done up. Right, um I'm just showing off my um my chest.
SPEAKER_04This um we've got my other Ash's atar really doesn't work on podcasts, does it? What do you mean? We could talk about what I'm wearing if you want.
SPEAKER_03He's wearing pale pink shorts and a white shirt. He looks like he's like gonna go on a yacht.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yacht yacht man.
SPEAKER_04Um this is flavour-packed, perfectly balanced, pale, with robust malt and lush fruitiness.
SPEAKER_02Robust.
SPEAKER_04For schemas and rubbing rapids.
SPEAKER_06Rubbing rapids.
SPEAKER_04Oh, we could be having some of that on um Saturday.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah, we could we could have another story we could talk about.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god, it's gonna be three hours long.
SPEAKER_06Well, that could be next time. Yeah, but we I think we ought to tease it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we'll tease the end. Speakeasy, loosen your tongue and free your mind. These lodges can't fucking conform, can they? So the hop, the hops in here. I'll tell you what, I'll tell you what. Should we have a sniff? Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Oh, that's bittery.
SPEAKER_03Wow, it smells like revolution.
SPEAKER_06Again, it's got that it's got um a funky smell. Should we clink and drink? Yes. But it smells better than the last. I'm gonna ask. What do you think about these small, small cans?
SPEAKER_04I I am not. They're good for trains.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that's a bit good for flights. Can you take that on a flight? Yeah. No, you don't.
SPEAKER_03You could. No, it's a hundred mil. No, it's not. They've they've taken them away now. Really? Yeah. How much can you take on a flight now then? Uh a litre, I think.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, as long as it's not bomb fluid.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. That was the whole point. Let's see if this bombs.
SPEAKER_04Can anyone tell me the hops?
SPEAKER_06Do you want me to read it or I can read it?
SPEAKER_03Oh crack and smack.
SPEAKER_06Wait, hold on.
SPEAKER_03I have no idea. They're quite they're bitter. They're fugged.
SPEAKER_06Hold on, they're bitter hops. Are they is it like a um mosaic?
SPEAKER_04We grow them.
SPEAKER_06Who does?
SPEAKER_04We do.
SPEAKER_06I don't know. Exactly. Shit, what hops do you grow?
SPEAKER_04Hops out the back.
SPEAKER_06No, I meant like I don't know. Are they the same as what you've always grown? Yeah. I don't know. I don't know why. I don't think I ever learnt this knowledge. They're not Foggles, are they?
SPEAKER_04No. Foggles, very traditional English one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's why I said it.
SPEAKER_04It's a North American hop. Well, I mean, obviously it's English because you can grow it here, but.
SPEAKER_06It's English now. It's ours. Nice. No, I I'm I'm up.
SPEAKER_04Chinook.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah. Shit, we spoke about this the other day. Azaka. Azaka and Citra. So I got none of them. I almost said Azaka because it was in the last one. But the can on this is beautiful.
SPEAKER_03It looks the same as the other one though.
SPEAKER_06No, it's got it's got more on it. No, but it does look very similar. Yeah, of course it looks similar.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but like very similar.
SPEAKER_06I don't know where the other one's gone. Sharon. Sharon? It's got a microphone, it's got music shit on it. It's got a quill. It's very artsy, this one. Mmm. Wow, yeah, fucking liberal.
SPEAKER_04Speakeasy. What's the speakeasy again? Well, it was a thing in the um Prohibition. Do what you want.
SPEAKER_06Then there was it was unlawful.
SPEAKER_04We need sort of Charleston music now.
SPEAKER_06What the fuck do you fucking want? What's the Speakeasy Motel? Is that from The Simpsons or something?
SPEAKER_07Hey, uh alcohol's illegal, I so I I'll sell you some. Oh, okay. You can say what the fuck you like, you motherfucker.
SPEAKER_06That was the best Welsh accent of the night. The schemers and the dreamers. Wow. Loosen your tongue and free your mind.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, like I like my. Oh, I quite like this.
SPEAKER_06I told that.
SPEAKER_03It doesn't blow my nuts off, though.
SPEAKER_06Well it won't, it's 4.3%. But it is good. And also, speaking of these small cans, although I think I agree they're a bit like lackluster and I'd want a bit more, I there's nothing like a little pocket rocket. Like a little like but yeah, take it round your mate's house. But placement call of duty.
SPEAKER_04Oh no. Well, I've never played Call of Duty. I have played Call of Duty in my life. But I need to have I'd need to have a fucking pint can, I think. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Oh you're that guy. But I think that's that's that's nice. It's um it's um pint can or castrel. It's kind of classy.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but you guys did sort of like Call of Duty in physical education at school, didn't you? Sorry.
SPEAKER_03I pretended I was playing it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. All the time. But anyway, no, I quite like that. That was much better than the last. I don't know about that. What the last can or the simbin? No, the the Simbin was better than this, but the last can.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the Simbin was way better than that. And the and the last can I don't think is that much better than the colour.
SPEAKER_06So are we saying are we saying that powder keg's not not giving us the big old bang?
SPEAKER_03It's not blowing my nuts off. It's not blowing his nuts off.
SPEAKER_06Would it blow up Parliament?
SPEAKER_03They'll probably yeah, they probably will, yeah. Yeah. They'll probably I'm probably more likely to get hit by one of their car bombs than I am, but their flavours. Is this just a cover-up for their uh Yeah, it's a revolution, baby. Yeah. They're gonna use the M they haven't I rate it. They don't use bottles because they're using all their bottles for Molotov contact.
SPEAKER_06Fucking hell. I quite like a revolutionary.
SPEAKER_03I quite like um someone who's uh we get we're revolutionaries in this pub. Are we? Yeah, we're the only ones who knows how a laptop works and how to record something.
SPEAKER_06Well, only you know that. Yeah, I was about to say, I think I might have lost my touch over the years.
SPEAKER_03Shall we talk about Dark Revolution? Yeah, let's do it. So on Monday we went on a great little trip. A voyage. A voyage, an adventure. Yeah. All the way to Salisbury. We got picked up at approximately 12.03 pm. It wasn't that early. No, I can't I don't know. 1230. We went to we went to Salisbury. And then we went to uh Dart Revolution Brewery. Yeah. Nice, nice people.
SPEAKER_06Very incredibly nice reception. Yeah, very, very one of the the well, they've all been lovely. Like like I said, compared to like when we've been to Left Handed Giant, they've been really fucking lovely to us as well. Um yeah, it was great. It was I think that's what it's a nice community, the uh the the beer scene. Yeah, if that's what you want to call it. Wow, yeah, it's good. So we turned up, we had we had our name tags written.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we had name tags on the city. That was cool. They were nice, they were high quality.
SPEAKER_06We had a free beer on entry as well.
SPEAKER_04Free beer on entry, but did you have I had the so your first free beer was? Uh it was the um keg one. The son-in-law. They were all keg.
SPEAKER_06Um mine was the DJ Goose. That was my first one. 4.8 pale. You had the fog to start, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I had a I had a clear clay.
SPEAKER_06Double dry hop to that one, the fog. That's their secret release thing, which we have got a can of today. So we could be um trying that's dribbled on by Sharon, which says we could just crack that now whilst we're talking about it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, let's crack a fog now.
SPEAKER_04Do you want to do a fog now? Should we just talk to Sharon?
SPEAKER_06Sharon.
unknownYeah, yeah. Hello.
SPEAKER_06Could we crack the fog now? Yeah. So anyway, so the speaking of revolutionary.
SPEAKER_03Not only should we use that segue from the last one.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah, we should have. Yeah, the real revolution's happening in Salisbury. The fog It's all it's all safe now, don't worry.
SPEAKER_00It's a hazy double dry hopped pail at 5.4.
SPEAKER_04Beautiful.
SPEAKER_00It got released on St. George's Day, the 23rd of April.
SPEAKER_04Our wedding anniversary. I knew Sharon would have the facts as well.
SPEAKER_00And um it's only going to be released once a year, or just maybe this might be the only time it was released.
SPEAKER_06It could be something different, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I can't remember what Phil said. Phil was the brewer.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you were saying it could be. Should we just put it into um what have we got?
SPEAKER_00Oh I've got clean glasses.
SPEAKER_06No, you don't have to clean them, that's alright. No, you're alright. Um so anyway, so we got there, we got our name tags, we got our first free beer, then we were we were shown into the venue. Beautiful, like, what would you call it? A tap room? Yeah, tap room. Free pool. Adjacent, yeah, it was free pool on that day. Sandwiches. Sandwiches.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, from MS, no less.
SPEAKER_06Were they MS? They were, they were fancy sandwiches. Fanwages. Fancy fancy. Fanwages. Doesn't go unnoticed, you know. No, really, the hospitality was fucking amazing. So a huge.
SPEAKER_01They got gold on the top of their can.
SPEAKER_03Although I did see I did see one of the other groups that were there for the trade day take four packets of crisps. What and just pocket them? There were none left. Whoa! Do you remember who they were?
SPEAKER_04Did they eat them there or take them out? I have no idea where they are.
SPEAKER_06I didn't know how manis there. I think there was about three sandwiches by the time we got there. Um well we held off the eating. So I want to say a big shout out to to Chris and Rich. Yeah, and Elliot at the butt on the bar. Elliot on the bar. Then in the brewery there was Phil. And then was this Ross? Ross was the can man. Yeah. Yeah. So they we also had a brewery tour, which is that their brewery is just round the corner from their tap room. And they answered all our questions, showed us showed us all their vats, all of their um fermentation tanks, yeah, all of their mash tubs, their tons. Sorry, tons. Mash ton. Yeah. Mash tun tun mash tun tun. Tun tun Rose Kirk. And they had a can in line, which which they and they had a fancy fancy gadget that measured the oxygen levels, the oxygen fucking what do they call it? The oxygen measuring thing. Yeah, but it measured like how much it was affected by oxygen. So that any dodge. Yeah, so we learnt a lot about oxygen by the way. It was brilliant. And um and they had that is very simple. We're drinking it again, sorry. We're drinking. We can clink. Should we clink? Cheers, guys. Cheers, dark revolution as well. Also, we'll probably maybe have to say hashtag hashtag sponsor because we got we're having a can of the fog because I think that's the one. Yeah, we're drinking the fog now. Um they um they did give us a lot of food.
SPEAKER_03So the fog is a is a rare bear. They've only done uh April the twenty-third release. Yeah, so that it's not a a a a staple beer. It was a one-time release.
SPEAKER_04Their artwork is immense as well as it tastes really nice.
SPEAKER_03All their branding is really good.
SPEAKER_06It's got that like hazy yellow colour that like you know when you get like a those the the double IPAs that are like they often look like that. Yeah. The a lot of left-handed giant colour, I think I've referenced back in the day.
SPEAKER_03Well, it's very nice, and they have a lot of good stuff, and their branding is fantastic, they were very hospitable, and they gave us a goodie bag.
SPEAKER_06I'll tell you what, I almost like I feel like I wanna I've got quite a lot to say about them. Should we play the tape?
SPEAKER_03But um yeah, we do have a tape.
SPEAKER_06I could we could have done a whole segment on them, and maybe we will in the future. Yeah. Because I reckon it would be cool to sample a lot of those. I'd like to go back and do the podcast live. Yeah, I think they got a good venue. I think they'd let us.
SPEAKER_04Do you think they'd do that, Sharon? Do you reckon we could do a live? Do you think we could do a live podcast from the tap room?
SPEAKER_00Of Dark Revolution, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06I don't think they'd mind.
SPEAKER_03Wow. No, I think they'd like it. And we had a serious good conversation with it. Chris was a listener, so he he he liked it. Shout out Chris.
unknownListen to it.
SPEAKER_06And they were giving us paddle, like it's so much. Where do you think he'd jam in?
SPEAKER_04He listens to it when he's out on his dray rounds, doesn't he? So he's the delivery. He could be going down the A303, watch out for the speed cameras, mate. A303 I'm speeding.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, watch out.
SPEAKER_06But we were we were given all these testers as well as like the that free can and that free beer, um, and uh like a talking from talking to him. It sounds like we were getting told off. But um discussing these different things, we had three different stouts we tried, three different pails we tried. Yeah, and then there was um and everything was very good. What was that rubble rouser, which was like an 8.6% double IPA or something? That was amazing. Everything was we got pretty fucked up.
SPEAKER_03There was nothing bad. There was nothing bad.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we were drinking the back of the car.
SPEAKER_03And also, I was like, I vaped in a car. Oh, no one likes that.
SPEAKER_04It's not necessary, is it?
SPEAKER_06On the way out, I was begging for a t-shirt saying please give me it, please give me a t-shirt.
SPEAKER_04I did offer to buy actually, and he said he'd send me one, which is we're um we we just repeat our thanks to the good people at Dark Revolution. It was a top, top afternoon.
SPEAKER_06Oh, yeah, thank you very, very much.
SPEAKER_04Thank you.
SPEAKER_06And also one day I want to do like a full lineup of their beers tasting because they got some massive outlets. Yeah, but we could have a we could have a like four or five and we could do a proper Dark Revolution special, can we?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we could do it from there.
SPEAKER_06Let's hook it up. Let's do it. We could do a Dark Revolution special from there because I don't think we've given enough credit in this one, but we have to move on because we've got shit to go.
SPEAKER_03We have been recording for time.
SPEAKER_06So onto the next beer.
SPEAKER_04Onto the next beer. Have we got a stout? Next week will be shit. Wait, we've got a stout. He got breakfast stout.
SPEAKER_06Oh, okay. This is the one where you don't walk home. I've got a history with this one. Can we go into it? No.
SPEAKER_04Oh, is this where you like lay on the floor?
SPEAKER_06Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you did more than that. This was the the own one and the only times where Max has had to walk me home. I think.
SPEAKER_03You implied that.
SPEAKER_06You effectively became Anne.
SPEAKER_03You've had to walk me home.
SPEAKER_06No, as in like you we often just part our ways and give a have a hug and say goodbye. Oh, right, okay. Whereas this time you actually came to my house.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, because you couldn't walk. Yeah, and this was because of this. I didn't just take you home, I had to lift you home essentially.
SPEAKER_04Is this when you burnt the pizza as well? No.
SPEAKER_06No, no, no, that was the other night. But I made it home, I just almost set fire to the fucking place. Never mind them, dog. Right, so so we are drinking now an arbor. This is the cask beer. Back on the cask. Yeah. Arbor else, breakfast out. Go on, give us give us the number, Pete. It's 7.4%. Whoa! So I had like five pints of this, I think, that night when I can go.
SPEAKER_00Everybody's got a dar um a breakfast out story, falling over story. Yeah. Of which you have one and um your stunning.
SPEAKER_04I'll drink to that. We're not clinking. We're just we ain't got time for that.
SPEAKER_03Oh, it smells fucking brilliant already. It does smell like Christmas. It reminds me of Christmas very much. I've not had it. But it's so drinkable. I've never had it outside of December.
SPEAKER_06No?
SPEAKER_04This is the last start of the season, and you're gonna miss out on because I bet they'll have it on they'll they're it's its big brother is Ramadingy Rapids. Yeah. And they have that, they'll have that on draft on cake tomorrow. On Saturday.
SPEAKER_06So we are going on the East Bristol Brewery Trail on Saturday. So two days' time. Max is busy.
SPEAKER_04Should we do a proper, proper, not like record it nicely, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, don't worry. Have we got a mic we could take? Uh not to record straight into iPhone.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_06But we could do it with an iPhone um plug-in. Sorry. Plug-in, headphone, microphone would be better, wouldn't it?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, probably.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. I'll bring one of those. I got you. But this is this is a beautiful. This is probably the best out. I I said this back along, no wonder why I drank so much of it. Um, because I don't often come into this bar and I drink just stout.
SPEAKER_03No, but it's a good stout. This is a good stout.
SPEAKER_06I'll have it as an ender, whereas this one I was just like I had one pint and I was like, Well I have another one. We'll have another one and like obviously the booziness of it makes you want a bit more and you just keep going for it. It's deceptively strong. I know. It doesn't taste that it's so easy to drink, it is so like Moorish.
SPEAKER_04Massive shout out to our Burals. Yeah. Great, great brewery. I don't know how they've done it. And we will we will bring it probably in another episode with our our feedback, well, Ash and Mai's feedback from the East Bristol Brewery Trail. Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_06I think it's a shame when we tried a lot so many stouts at like six percent, and we had we had that whole stout episode. And something like this, obviously, we didn't even mention. That's warming. But there's something different about it. It's not too sickly, it's not too sweet, it's not too complicated for a big for a big thing. Like I just think they've done it right, and although it's super strong and it's kind of like who's gonna buy that, which is something as a business you worry about, but I think it's good enough to do it.
SPEAKER_03Well, I know someone who would have bought it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah who is now yeah, we we do need to do a little bit of that, yeah. Yeah, sadly, just um we lost one of our regulars here um who passed away the other week, and it's very sad. We didn't really know uh um about it. Um but Ian, who um used to love the strong beers we sold here, yeah, um sadly passed away. So um peace Ian. This one's for you, this one is for Ian. This is one. Big rest of peace.
SPEAKER_06He'll be sorely missed.
SPEAKER_03He was on he was on the uh the podcast.
SPEAKER_06You can hear him in the background in one of the early episodes. Yeah. From every and a very infectious laugh. Yeah. From every opinion, every bit of knowledge, every just mad remark, like he's a character that I'll remember for the rest of my life. Yeah. Just from like being like a a patr a fellow patron in here.
SPEAKER_03So it's like that's really nice.
SPEAKER_06And he had a good life from from the sounds of it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he did a lot of stuff. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So rest in peace. Rest in peace. Rest in peace here. So close today.
SPEAKER_03The climax. We're about to climax. Oh my god. So Pete and Sean went to Brussels in Belgium.
SPEAKER_00All we brought you back was a great big bottle of beer.
SPEAKER_03Yes. That's all I had wanted, Sharon. That's all I would ever want. Right, this got cork in it. Oh my god, are we gonna put it?
SPEAKER_06Is this the most special thing we've ever done on the podcast? I think so.
SPEAKER_03I think it's probably the most expensive thing we've had. Yeah. I don't know. I hazard to ask. Pop it right up to the mic, Sharon.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, sorry?
unknownPop it to the mic.
SPEAKER_00If you can, yeah. I can't even get hold of it.
SPEAKER_03It's the wrong side. It'll be alright. I don't know. You've got a long headphone cord now. Oh yeah. Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_06I hope that picked up as good as it sounded in the room.
SPEAKER_03It looked like it did.
SPEAKER_04So this is Delirium Tremond's brewery. Delirium Tremonds. It's strong blonde beer. 8.5%. Oi! And we've got 750 mils of this bag. That's what you're gonna say.
SPEAKER_03We've got 750 bottles of this coming in. Imported. And we've got a big ball. We've got a little presentation case.
SPEAKER_06The tube is is remarkable. The pube? The tube. It either looks like Pringles or tennis balls. It does.
SPEAKER_03It's a remarkable tube.
SPEAKER_06It looks more bougie than it. I thought it was a tennis ball tube. Do we want a blurb? We'll give a bit of a blurb. Go on, Max.
SPEAKER_03Take it away. Are you ready? Um right. Alright. Well, this is a very bold statement. Also, I'm gonna have to move it around because it's cylindrical. Yeah. The best beer in the world. That's such a fucking bold statement. According to Stuart A. Callan in the 50 Greatest Beers in the World, 1997. That's when I was aboard. Delirium Tremens is a superb Belgian beer. It's full of flavour, lightly hopped, and surprisingly malty with the fruity aftertaste. That sounds like every beer description ever. Um the colour is the best beer in the world, mate.
SPEAKER_04I don't think it's the best beer in the world, but thank you for it. Wow, it looks lovely.
SPEAKER_06Wait, you don't think it's the best beer in the world?
SPEAKER_04No, it's brilliant, but I don't think it's the best beer in the world. The colour is golden.
SPEAKER_03The head creamy. Oh yeah. Yeah, but I don't know. Everyone likes a creamy head. That's awful. Um awfully. Well, not all beers have very creamy head. So only sometimes. Continue. Alcoholic content is 8.5% by volume. The label depicts different phases of the delirium tremens. Do you know what delirium tremens is? Yeah, it's not. It sounds like a disease. It's alcohol withdrawal. Alcohol withdrawal. Oh shit.
unknownNice.
SPEAKER_03Um, what the hell? First you see pink elephants. First you see pink elephant. No, I've never had a day off. First you see pink elephant. There's nothing to withdraw from, is there? Then green crocodiles and dragons appear, and lastly, you see the monstrous bird creatures invade your mind. Yeah. Allah Alfred Hitchcock. I know a couple of those. Yeah. Delirium Trimans has a big body. I know a couple of those. A rich mouthfeel. A rich mouth feel. Yeah. A long sweet aftertaste, and it's triple fermented. Wow. Brewed by brewery. Hugo.
SPEAKER_06So is it brewed in Belgium? Yeah. Whereabouts, do you know? Hugh Mel.
SPEAKER_03You're pronouncing it. In Mel. Mella. But in Brussels, I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Brussels, Simon Veg. In Brussels there's like the Delirium village. Which is their main part. 50 kilometers. Incredible place.
SPEAKER_03They have a whole village. Yeah. 50 kilometres from Brussels is where it's brewed.
SPEAKER_06So it's a very clean brew. It's a very traditional beer. Same beer. I haven't no, I just sniffed it.
SPEAKER_03Clink and drink.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, let's get it down at the terrible.
unknownThat's better.
SPEAKER_03That was better. That was better. Cheers, boys. Thank you very much to uh Sharon and Pete for bringing this in. Bowser's. Oh yes. Good enough. That's nice. It's got a weird it's got a what kind of taste is that? That reminds me of being again. That reminds me of being 16.
SPEAKER_04When you first tasted that amber, sweet amber nickel.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. He's unlike anything else. I remember being in Belgium. We didn't get delirium tremendous, but we did get uh left.
SPEAKER_06Um's that where's that elected?
SPEAKER_03Well, is delirium is it is it brewed by Is it brewed by monks? Where are you going, Pete? You're a host on this podcast. I'm just gonna go and get something.
SPEAKER_06Can I just be a bit like a picture of I don't know if it's super like that great.
SPEAKER_03I think it's really nice. There's that there's that burn that Belgian beers do nothing then nothing else comes close.
SPEAKER_06Maybe it's like I think it's it's it's uh incredibly impressive for the ABV to taste that drinkable and nice. Yeah. Because like you get like some of like even like a duvel or whatever. Yeah, we had the duvel. We love the duvel. No, we love the duvel, but that's only like six percent.
SPEAKER_03I think duvel's seven and a half. Is it? I can't remember.
SPEAKER_06No, but I mean like you can really really uh get the seven and a half here, or six percent, whatever I was referencing.
SPEAKER_03It doesn't taste like eight and a half.
SPEAKER_06No, that's what I'm saying. It does when you start breathing out though.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you can you can taste it alcohol. I feel like I've been on it all night.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I don't that's what I say. I don't think it's the best beer in the world. Um I think it's lovely, but it's not you know, it's uh it's a brilliant beer.
SPEAKER_06Is it good enough to put in a tube? I don't think it needs a tube.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but it did help on the Eurostar thing. Yeah, it's special.
SPEAKER_06I do like the cork though. I feel like more beers should have a a uh around the cork. So we went um around the cork.
SPEAKER_04We went out for dinner with because it was eight of us, we went out for dinner on the um and for no other reason than you could have a beer with a cork. Yeah, we had two bottles of beer with cork, yeah. So you could pop them.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Pop 'em like champagne. Wow. But this tastes better than champagne.
SPEAKER_03Pop them well, it does taste way, but I'd rather drink a bottle of this than champagne.
SPEAKER_06To be fair, you could compare it to a champagne. Yeah, but it's got a better flavour. It's not far off the fucking ABV of a champagne.
SPEAKER_03It's funny you see here, it they've got some awards on here. So they claim to be the best beer in the world because of this book that was written in 1997. But they've actually got a silver award. I like how they're still fucking. They've got a silver award from 2017.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's a bottle of gold.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah. They've got a gold award. That's an even bigger bottle. They've got a gold award from 2017. They've got a silver award from 2017, and they've got a bronze award from 2017. This doesn't translate to podcast, Pete. You can't show photos.
SPEAKER_06He's just showing me pictures of his fucking holiday now. There's Sharon in the delirium bar drinking green beer.
SPEAKER_04Green beer? What's the elephant about then?
SPEAKER_03They said that because it's the first thing you see when you get delirium.
SPEAKER_04Oh. Oh, I see. The other thing was the one of the best beers I had out there was Dupla. Dupila. Yeah. Yeah. And then we went to the Jupila. No, I think it's Jupila. Jupila. And then we went to the football, and they have the Dupla ball that goes around and serves you beer.
SPEAKER_06The more a drink, the more phenomenal I think it is. That's very European. Pizza's can you put that picture in?
SPEAKER_03Pizza.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that can be the pizza, show me a picture of a ball mascot. What do you mean put it in? That was a joke.
SPEAKER_04Well, we are going to we did talk about, didn't we? We are going to have our own socials. So we can't.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, we could do that, but we haven't done it yet, so we can't promote it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but we can tell the listeners what we think of it.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. By the time this goes out, by the time you've edited it, follow us at some cascast.
SPEAKER_06If we can get it, someone might already get it. Exactly. Might cost us 900 euros. That's probably what this cost. Wait, yeah, how much was it?
SPEAKER_04What this? Yeah. Ah, it was only uh 19 euros. No, 19 euros? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Only? I don't know. I can't remember. We appreciate it very much, thank you. Is that in the offie? No. It was only 10 in Belgium. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, when are you getting that in the office then? Have you got any Belgian beers? We have had Belgian beers in the Bible. We've got Belgian beers in the office. Oh, you do?
SPEAKER_04I don't know if we've got them now, but we have had them. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Nice. That was a bane of my fucking existence. People come in and yeah, but have you got any Belgian beers? I'd be like, no, we haven't. Import's very expensive, but all of this stuff is really lovely. No, I just like Belgian beers. This is the best beer in the world. I think that you remember when we had that monk beer from here, the Trappist beer that we had. Yeah, Tin Jones. I think as good as some of the pretty good so far. Yeah, for sure, yeah. I thought that was amazing.
SPEAKER_06They just have that label associated with them because what I love about the Belgian stuff, right? A lot of like the stronger beers that you get.
SPEAKER_03Belgium's not even a real country. Oh, controversial.
SPEAKER_06Right, let me make my point and then you can get into that. What I was gonna say is like a lot of the Belgian beers. Is that the thing in QR that flashes? Yeah. They're like 8% or so, but like anything like all like the double IPAs that you get, like, round here, and all the things that we associate with high percentage, they're all like very hop-heavy. Yeah. Yeah. Whereas this is literally like a beer beer. What I've done in what I'm trying to say. You know, like a kind of brewed beer with great flavour, but it's just strong. Yeah. Um, and it's not like they're adding fucking vodka to it, but like it's from the brew still, but it's not like that really hop-heavy, kind of like in your face, creamy, I think I think. Which is also is something I I love. I love a fucking double IPA, don't get me wrong. Yeah. I love a triple IPA. Yeah. But Ash loves a triple.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Oh. A triple tiple. A threesome. Never been there. No, neither. No. Well, you didn't see that. Any listeners? Uh E T S O M E I C L.
SPEAKER_06To be fair, there's more chance of that than well, there's as much chance of that than a normal fucking email at this rate. Even the fucking even if it puts anyone's mind at rest.
SPEAKER_04I'm not part of this pack here. He's married.
SPEAKER_03We should make a fucking We could make a like a hinge profile that's just like the Etson Cas cars. It's like you can match like the group cards saying. Yeah, let's do it. This is all getting cut. Um but anyway, yeah, it's really good. It's really clean. I I think it's impressive how they make this so clean, so strong. That's what's sort of my point. And it is.
SPEAKER_06Oh my god. That's like us, eh? Yeah, because everyone's pissed. Or everyone's like fiended on their produce. Do they fund the town?
SPEAKER_04No, I I mean it's they've got this whole the their main bar is just ridiculous. It's just what do they serve? They've got about 200 different beers. 200? You got room for that in here, Pete? Yeah, genuinely. I don't know if Sharon's got a picture. Have you got a picture of um delirium? Put the picture up, Max.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm gonna put it up. Yeah, put it up. You see that, guys? See that picture?
SPEAKER_04All the taps don't come from the bar, they come from the ceiling.
SPEAKER_06What the hell? So is it all upstairs? They got an upstairs cellar.
SPEAKER_04No, they they've just got cast and kegs everywhere.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It's like springs, but without the upstairs seating, just kegs.
