Hello, good afternoon. Good afternoon. Hello. Good morning.
SPEAKER_04The ExxonMe. The sun has risen.
SPEAKER_05Welcome to the Exxon Castcast. It's a Thursday afternoon. 3 pm in the afternoon. And we are recording live in the park. It is at 10am. And also, for those who um are conscious of the um music behind us, or just conscious, um, you'll notice it's the Mexico 1970 World Cup 3. If you're the copyright police, it's not.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah, we might have to stop it now.
SPEAKER_04So where was where was the um you're not gonna ask the question? You're not gonna ask the question.
SPEAKER_05Um it's gonna abruptly stop.
SPEAKER_04Is it technically in Mexico again this year?
SPEAKER_05Is this yeah, they're one of the co-hosts.
SPEAKER_04So why had they done that?
SPEAKER_05Dunno, share the wealth.
SPEAKER_04Was it all in Mexico in 70?
SPEAKER_05Uh yeah, all Mexico. All Mexico. Yeah. Did you go? I was four. I was alive though when we won the World Cup. What, in 66? You were born. Yeah, I was eleven days old. Wow. Don't remember it.
SPEAKER_04No. Did they just leave you in the hospital and all everyone went down the pub? No.
SPEAKER_05No, I did I was still in hospital. Um, but that's another story. Ah. Oh. Um, anyway, have I said welcome to the Cast Cast?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, we should have. We have now.
SPEAKER_05So uh for a change of pace, we've done we've we're doing it in the afternoon. Yeah, it's weird.
SPEAKER_04Summer, innit? Summer hours.
SPEAKER_05It's usually light when we're doing it anyway now, because it's summer. Yeah, we've got today. We've got my good friends Max and Ash, and obviously our lovely barmaid Hello, who's assisted today by Peter. Double bar. Hello, hello.
SPEAKER_00Pete, come and say hello. Hello. It's Peter.
SPEAKER_05Hello, hello, hello, hello. So, Sharon, what have we got for us today?
SPEAKER_00Well, you've got a smorgasbord of new arrivals. I mean, to be honest, some of them, oh, let me see. I've got five beers. I thought she was gonna say one of them I've had one of them I've had for a couple of weeks, few weeks, the rest of them are new new. Nice.
SPEAKER_05So how exciting. We'll look forward to those. Um, but first, gentlemen, what are we drinking?
SPEAKER_04That's a very good question. Uh yeah. What is it called? And I can actually look up to the TV and tell you what it's called. Oh, yeah. So I think we're all on the same. We're all drinking the Summer Valley Rolling Hills. Summer Valley Rolling Hills. Oh wait, the screens changed now.
SPEAKER_05So I can't give you any more information. It's from Summer Valley. It's 4.2% hazy pearl. Where's that? Yeah, where is that? Uh Farrington Curtainly turn right. And why do we have that? That's a keg beer. That's a keg beer. So so this weekend.
SPEAKER_00This weekend is a special for this weekend, don't we?
SPEAKER_05Uh it's only about, I thought, 18. Is it on the uh the finger ball? No, we haven't added we haven't added it. Because it's not a permanent feature. I see. So um my son um helps organise the Get On Festival in Exeter, which was this weekend, which was very, very successful. We went down for the day, had a right laugh.
SPEAKER_04Nice. What day did you go down?
SPEAKER_05Saturday. Uh-huh. Saturday, it was bouncing. Yeah. Um and then um they had uh they had a bar there, obviously. And whatever it was. Wouldn't have gone without one. One cask was left over, or one keg was left over. So they'd had the Linda machine for backstage in the production office. Who's Linda? That's the machine. It's the machine you dispense from. Um, send us more. Yeah, I could do with another one to be honest.
SPEAKER_06Linda, send a blender. Blenders, do you reckon? They spell it B-O-E-N-D-R. Blinders. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, they make those in Carlisle.
SPEAKER_06What? What? Blinda Carlisle. Alright, yeah, nice. That was quite vague, to be fair. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um that was Curtis, shout out to Emma and Michael who lent us the Linda and kind of gave it to the guys for the get on festival.
SPEAKER_04Oh, nice.
SPEAKER_05Very good. So um so we thought rather than let it go to waste, we'd put it on in the pub. So it's once only, but you know, who knows? People said we'd never have keg lager. You said that.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you said that. Didn't you? Yeah. Yeah. And now it's people. Now it's the best-selling thing. Maybe.
SPEAKER_04And it's only because it's summer.
SPEAKER_05No, it was the best-selling thing in the winter and so um it is of course lovely. Yeah, so what are we thinking then? Are you it's a bit cold? I I think it's really good.
SPEAKER_06It is really, really excellent.
SPEAKER_04I don't know what to what to sort of describe it or or compare it to. I was gonna do a different thing. It is giving me it's giving me just like that good quality PLL feeling. It's not it's not trying to be too much more than it needs to. No, but it's also interesting enough that you know it's got a slight haze to it.
SPEAKER_06That's full point.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, slight haze to it.
SPEAKER_06Well, it's hazy.
SPEAKER_04It's fully fucking opaque, mate. I guess because it lets light through.
SPEAKER_06It's very light.
SPEAKER_04Barely that slight through. Yeah. It's good, it's got that left-handed giant yellow, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_06It does, it really does. Maybe we're sure that's where they are something. Is that so it's not left-handed giant cake? No, it is different.
SPEAKER_04If I had a blindfold on, I could I I you know and I didn't know. I reckon I wouldn't need a blindfold.
SPEAKER_06I reckon if yeah. If I didn't know what that was, you would guess. I would have guessed left-handed giant.
SPEAKER_05That's not a bad thing to impersonate, isn't it?
SPEAKER_06It's excellent, actually. It's a good thing to be compared to.
SPEAKER_04He's wearing your hat again. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Let me know when you're ready. I'm wearing all the beer merch today. I'm such a fancy.
SPEAKER_05Are we ready for the are we ready? I think we should, yeah, before we're ready. So, Sharon, what are we gonna be drinking? Or are you gonna pour first? Oh, nice. Yeah, it's gonna be a can cast today. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But well, you've got one bottle to say it. Oh.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah, it's a bottle.
SPEAKER_00We've got four cans and one bottle.
SPEAKER_06Four candles. Get your body out.
SPEAKER_00So your first offering is from Deia Brewing Company in Cheltenham.
SPEAKER_05I'm liking this. Children's actually. Wait, this is gonna be fucking amazing.
SPEAKER_04Um We're getting treated today. Yeah. It's a daytime shift, eh?
SPEAKER_00Summer ale. Perfect. Which I pre-ordered. So I've had it a while to be honest. Yeah, it looks lovely. We are an official stockist of this ale. So four cent ale.
SPEAKER_06Oh, have we had any explosions in the heat?
SPEAKER_05Heat wave. Yeah, we not not major, have we? Oh, we're not talking about that, are we?
SPEAKER_06The heat wave, it was hot last week, wasn't it, boys? It was hot last week. Oh. Oh, sticker.
SPEAKER_04Never sticker.
SPEAKER_06Never sticker. Sticker, I hardly know it. If you've got any stickers, um send them can we have the can send them by email. Send them.
SPEAKER_05Sharon, can we have the can in a minute, please?
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_05Because we've got to have the blurb. So what this is daya, summer summer ale. Is that what it's summer ale? Should we sniff? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Oh, it smells a bit weird. It doesn't smell of anything.
SPEAKER_06Summer ale.
SPEAKER_04It's got that it's got that fermented squash smell.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it does have fermented squash smell. Oh, we're not back to the PE. PE K and the Rybina part.
SPEAKER_04I feel like that's a genuine smell.
SPEAKER_06It does, yeah, I agree.
SPEAKER_05Well, I can't read the blurb. Except the but I love the artwork.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's very nice.
SPEAKER_05The crocodile.
SPEAKER_04Is it a whole pint? Five can.
SPEAKER_06I should have done something for the socials.
SPEAKER_04How big is that can? Oh, it's 500mm. What is the pint?
SPEAKER_06I'm gonna do something for the socials now.
SPEAKER_04Is it 560 or something? In millilitres.
SPEAKER_06560, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Right. Do you want me to read it out? Are you ready? Yeah, go on. What are you doing?
SPEAKER_06Doing a thing for the ri for the socials.
SPEAKER_04Oh nice. A crisp, tropical, and delicious pale ale brewed for warmer evenings. Cool over earlier, lads. What about warmer afternoons? We should have had this last, shouldn't we? Tropical lots of Nelson Solvin take the lead lead lead on the dry hop backed up by Idaho 7 and Citra. Nice. So lots of hops packed in there.
SPEAKER_05I'm not I'm not sure whether it's my nose, but I'm not getting a lot from it. Really? It's got three different times.
SPEAKER_04And it's it's dry hop. But it is only 4.5%, you know? Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I think are we um Sharon, are we climbing the ladder today? Are we climbing the ladder? You are climbing the ladder.
SPEAKER_04And we start at 4.5%. These are won't be dark when I stumble home, I guess. Cerveza Crusad. What does that mean?
SPEAKER_06I don't know, I just don't know. I have a specific request for the penultimate one as well.
SPEAKER_04Oh. Wow. Right. Okay. Oh wow. Lots going on today. Before we clink and drink, I just want to say it's good to be back. Yeah. Shout out. I don't know how long it's been, but um we've lots have been going on in between. We can get onto that. Oh right, clink and drink.
SPEAKER_03There's a bus in there.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah, solid. That's good.
SPEAKER_05Oh that's good.
SPEAKER_04It's very um carbonated. It's really lovely. Not carbonated, but like it's very lively on the tongue. That's gorgeous. It's so smooth, I would have said. It's quite light though. It's nice.
SPEAKER_05It is light. I don't I don't get as much carbonation citra as I'd like.
SPEAKER_06No, there's still a little bite of citra there.
SPEAKER_04I see where they were going with that being a summer beer. That's well nice.
SPEAKER_06That is good. That is well nice. Starting off very strong, yeah. Summer ale. Brilliant stuff.
SPEAKER_00Dea, everything score is for that.
SPEAKER_06Probably really high because Dea. We're we're daya drinking today. Daya drinking.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Don't encourage him.
SPEAKER_00I'm here all week. Don't encourage him, Charles. Do you want to know what the untapped score is for this beer? I would love to. 3.77. Oh. Oh.
SPEAKER_04See, no, but nothing ever gets out of the free limbo. Yeah, but have you ever spoken to anyone who actually rates something on untapped? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh well, there's something up. Somebody sat behind you. Yeah, they're all boring. Look at the bump on the screen.
SPEAKER_06What have you given that then, Derek?
unknownWhich one?
SPEAKER_06The Rolling Hills. Or was that from last week?
unknownI gave it for four.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_06No one ever gives over three, do they? No. No. No, I mean the 4.25.
SPEAKER_04I feel like is anyone drinking anything that's an actual five? But you can't have a five, can you?
SPEAKER_05There's no such thing as perfect beer, is there?
SPEAKER_04But then it just feels so like it's like pizza, isn't it?
SPEAKER_06It's like never that bad. Pizza?
SPEAKER_05Hang on, sorry.
SPEAKER_06I know some bad pizza. It's like pizza, you know, like you can have shit pizza, but it's never like fire away and taunt him as shit. So it makes it. Whoa!
SPEAKER_04Our solicitor's address. Fire away, Molly, stay away. Fucking hell. Well, what did they say? I don't know. I just evisceration. I just got recommended them once, and I was and I went there and I was really disappointed.
SPEAKER_06Let's see what they've got on Google Reviews.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, have a look. That's a genuine review. I didn't but I didn't leave a review. I'm gonna look at Google reviewed.
SPEAKER_06There's one in Bridgewater as well. They were all over the place.
SPEAKER_04Maybe that doesn't help then.
SPEAKER_05Oh, they're a chain. Oh okay. The other thing, it could have just been a bad day at the Pizzeria Forum.
SPEAKER_04Maybe it was quiet. I was you know, it's it was on like probably like a Tuesday afternoon.
SPEAKER_06It's got a 4.6, bro.
SPEAKER_04What the hell?
SPEAKER_06Had pizza from here before and really enjoyed it. Staffer friendly, this time ordered through their website. Pizza was hot and delicious.
SPEAKER_04But I actually quite rate someone chicken and pizza lay on pizza.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I do as well. Although recently, every time I've had a kebab, I've had the shits.
SPEAKER_04Oh you that seems to happen when you with every kebab.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's true. Has nothing to do with the 13 pints you drink beforehand.
SPEAKER_04I don't think I've ever eaten anything that's given me the shit.
SPEAKER_05What?
SPEAKER_04Whoa, that's a bold statement. There you go.
SPEAKER_06It is a bold statement.
SPEAKER_04And it annoys me when people say that they have. It annoys you. Why do you think they're they're they're swinging their legs? Well, it's just I know a couple people, I'm not gonna name names. But um and it's just like everything they eat, it's just oh that's gonna do this to me, that's gonna do this to me. It's just like shut up and eat it.
SPEAKER_06Well, people have IBS and stuff. Yeah, cringe. Yeah. Yeah, because you all you eat is vegetables. I mean, I'm surprised you didn't have the shits when you went from eating nothing but veg for six years to having like massive meat burgers.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that did happen. Yeah. Well, I'm an athlete now, so I I I counteracted it. Oh, that's a story, isn't it? It is. We'll we'll come on to that. But it's been I've had a bit of hiatus from even beer, and I'm gonna have to have another one soon.
SPEAKER_06Worst takeaway pizza we've had in over 30 years.
SPEAKER_04There you go. That's my one.
SPEAKER_06Cheese was violent cold.
SPEAKER_04I think they just rushed mine, because mine just like wasn't cooked very well.
SPEAKER_06Bad pizza, nevermore. Burnt. Minimum cheese, minimum calibraza.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, minimum cheese is I can get behind that. As in like not a good thing. Mine was minimum cheese. Welcome to the Edson Pizza Reviews. Right, let's move on. Live from Summerton. This beer is absolutely gorgeous. Um, that's really good.
SPEAKER_05Are we doing a a can tower? Yeah. What if the bottle comes last? I'd like to see you work that one out.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you've got any tape. I brought tape this week, actually.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_04We'll tape it. I don't think would it be worse if it depends how big the bottle is. Anyway.
SPEAKER_05Right. Beautiful. What have we got to say? That is really nice.
SPEAKER_00Let me know when you're ready for your next one.
SPEAKER_05Well, I think we could we could get on with it. I think we are, yeah. Let's not get on festival. Let's not dawdle.
SPEAKER_04Get on festival.
SPEAKER_00So whoever and I'm obsessed with the can. Wait till you see it. It's called Magnificent Tree Frog, and it's a pale ale from Asvex. It's a 4.6 pale ale, and it has an untapped actually no, I a day it's called untapped score with 3.8. It's the ASVEX, it's got 3.77. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_06So that's 376.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Do you need to answer that? No. Answer it live on air. Uh oh. Alice's phone is ringing. What'd it say?
SPEAKER_06Pete's phone's ringing.
SPEAKER_04Alice. Aileys. Who the fuck is it? Ailey's. That's a sock, isn't it?
SPEAKER_02Is it the same?
SPEAKER_04They're keen to, yeah, it must be beer. It must be related to beer, yeah. We're the pizza guys, I don't know why they're ringing us.
unknownYeah, well.
SPEAKER_04So pizza is my favourite food in the whole world.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, well. Do you know what? I love pizza, but it's not I wouldn't cross the street for one. We got so you can pizza.
SPEAKER_04You do most most weekends, don't you? Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Alessandro. Yeah. Alessandro. He does a good one. Yeah, he does do a good one. No, but what I was saying was that they say about pizza. They're always a bit charcoal y though. Some it it's it it's even really good. Yeah, it's bad. It's never like so awful that you can't eat it. I've never had a pizza so awful that I wouldn't eat it. Yeah, fair.
SPEAKER_04No, isn't it is that like Brandon's ease in it? It's nothing.
SPEAKER_05It's impossible to mess up, isn't it?
SPEAKER_04Because you can mess something up with it still with it still being edible.
SPEAKER_06But that's why it's like beer. Like the worst rate of beer you have, I would say, oh, this is like a two. But then it could be like a five. Yeah, but there are beers that you don't won't drink. Just won't drink. Yeah, but they're not undrinkable unless they're like gone off. I don't know if there is a beer that you wouldn't drink. I don't know if there is. I would choose not to drink certain beers, but I wouldn't if if someone at gunpoint was like, you have to drink this, and I would I'd be like, hold on, this is taking a taking a turn. Gunpoint's a different thing. I wouldn't I wouldn't be like Yeah, I think we'd do most things if someone was pointing a gun at us. I would be like, I can't drink it. Or if they said oh you have to drink this and keep it down, I would be like, oh. Keep it down. Yeah, because some people would be like, oh, that's fucking disgusting. Yeah, those are the kind of people that annoy me.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I'm gonna fucking feel this tomorrow. Shut up. This is where we came in, wasn't it? Yeah. So what have we got? Where's the can? Is this a um new Bristol?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I could see that from a mile off, just from an arc.
SPEAKER_05The magnificent tree fog. Aforementioned.
SPEAKER_04They both have that AI look looking looking shit going on. Azvex.
SPEAKER_05Because one's got a fucking monkey, one's got a frog. Um aforementioned son, George, hates frogs. Does he? Yeah. Why? He once spent a whole train journey going to Birmingham, I think it was. And the woman opposite had a Tupperware container with frogs in. Was it frogs or frogs? Is that why he hates them? I don't know. No, no, he was chased around the garden by a young girl with a frog when she was about when he was about seven. Crazy frog.
SPEAKER_04Crazy frog.
SPEAKER_06But like a tree frog, uh they're cooler. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So they look very similar.
SPEAKER_06We've gone up 0.1%. They do look similar.
SPEAKER_04It also looks very similar to the uh the rolling hills that we've all got.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, they all look very similar. Well, this smells more citrusy, though.
SPEAKER_04Let's have a smell.
SPEAKER_06Let me get a taste of that citrusy.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, waiver. Citrusy.
SPEAKER_05Sweet citrusy.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's right. Right. That smells way better. That's nice. That doesn't smell like that doesn't smell funky like the last one.
SPEAKER_06Are we having a clink? Yeah. Chink and drink. I think we got it. I like that. That's really good. That is really good. Maybe it's so refreshing. That is really nice. What are we doing then?
SPEAKER_04God knows.
SPEAKER_06That might even be better than the daya. I was thinking that.
SPEAKER_04I didn't want to say it. I didn't want to say it.
SPEAKER_06That is really good. Oh well. Sharon.
SPEAKER_05Sharon, what do we know about Azteca? Azbeks. Azbex. Azteca.
SPEAKER_00Azbeks. I can I can only get them via my wholesaler.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, our pages. Or like 3.8.
SPEAKER_04100% cold chain. What does that mean? Does that have to do with the importation? Sorry, are they from the Netherlands?
SPEAKER_00No, they're from Liverpool.
SPEAKER_04Same place, isn't it? It says imported by multi- multi-beer. In the Netherlands.
SPEAKER_06I think that's w if you have it in the Netherlands, who would have imported it? But they're um multinational corporation. Who are multi-core. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04But anyway, sorry, where where are they from? I completely Liverpool. Liverpool. Nice. Cam down.
SPEAKER_06Liverpool.
SPEAKER_04That was awful.
SPEAKER_06See if I've got a sound effect for a scouse.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that was another thing that happened at the festival. They had Scouse Max's pub quiz, which was hilarious. It was just me doing an accent. No, he was actually a scouser.
SPEAKER_04What was his name?
SPEAKER_05Max.
SPEAKER_04Did you win? No.
SPEAKER_05I got into the tie break at the end.
SPEAKER_04Oh really? Yeah. Well, do you do it on your own?
SPEAKER_05No, there was uh there was a team, but they just pushed me forward.
SPEAKER_04Oh, okay. You had to do a talent.
SPEAKER_05You had to do a talent. That's no tie break. What was your talent? So, well the fellow beers.
SPEAKER_04You said I'll neck these five cans.
SPEAKER_05The fellow who did it, who I was against, he what was it? He jumped through his he jumped through his hands.
SPEAKER_04Oh, he like linked his arms and then hopped through. Yeah, talent.
SPEAKER_05He did that, he did that ten times. Oh, maybe that's talent. That's quite good actually. And I had to um so what did he add to while I was waiting?
SPEAKER_04Someone told him to stop.
SPEAKER_05While I was waiting, I sent George to try and find a paper bag because I wanted to do the um invisible wall trick. Have you ever seen that? No. It's not gonna work on a podcast, by the way. I would kind of want to see it though.
SPEAKER_06I could video it and put it on socials.
unknownOh, we have got a paper bag.
SPEAKER_04Oh yes. Yeah, you're gonna have to do it now. You're gonna have to do it now. You dropped yourself a name. It's um a Malcolm and Wise thing. Okay. Okay. So what what? It's the thing where it like something pushes the bag forward.
SPEAKER_05I'll show you.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_05Oh, this is gonna be crazy technology. It got a lot of laughs, but didn't make the cut, I'm afraid. What?
SPEAKER_06And you lost to the guy that was jumping through his hands.
SPEAKER_05Did you do it well? No, because I only ended up with a jiffy bag.
SPEAKER_06What's that? What's a jiffy bag? Like what you put like a game in to post it.
SPEAKER_05A padded bag, so that it hasn't got the flexibility of a paper bag with hoping it's going to appear in front of me. How do you do it?
unknownI'm working on it.
SPEAKER_05Hey? Or is that part of the magician? Yeah, I'm part of the magic circle. I can't tell you that.
SPEAKER_06I feel like that sounds more impressive than just jumping over your hands ten times.
SPEAKER_04Uh yeah, uh it depends.
SPEAKER_05That's a horrible noise. Is that a horrible noise? What was in that bag, Scott Check? Well, there was a ball in there. I'm just gonna throw the ball to Derek over there. There you go, Derek. Balling bag. This is gonna get it filled. Nice and high. Nice and high.
SPEAKER_06Oh, whoa! Yeah, I like that. That was good.
SPEAKER_02If my five rolls were here, she'd be blown.
SPEAKER_05Right, I'll throw it over to Alex over there. There you go. Oh, hang on.
unknownHe's caught it.
SPEAKER_05He's caught it, you gotta throw it back.
SPEAKER_06That's good, that is.
SPEAKER_04Is that it? That's it.
SPEAKER_05I didn't have a proper paper bag. Wait, so it just went five. Yeah, so it's sort of like muffled. And then they started throwing foil at me.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that's never good. I'm pretty sure that's covered by the Geneva Convention.
SPEAKER_04What?
SPEAKER_05Show business, mate. You wouldn't understand it.
SPEAKER_04No, well there you go. Well I thought I would I would I would like to say that you got robbed, therapy. Yeah, I would as well. Yeah. So sorry about that. What's the prize anyway? You probably would have to give half of it to charity anyway.
SPEAKER_05What? Yeah, one Turkish cigarette. One. What would you have done with that? No, I think it was just one Turkish cigarette.
SPEAKER_06What's the difference? It tastes like Turkish delight or something. What's the difference between a Turkish cigarette? Don't they smoke marble reds there as well?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but they're cheaper, aren't they?
SPEAKER_04The Turkish do love their cigarettes.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. Anyway, that's how I that's how I roll. Wow. Very good. So where are we putting this beer? Down our necks.
SPEAKER_04Apparently you can't drive if you drink this one. It says on the back.
SPEAKER_05You can't watch football if you're driving either.
SPEAKER_04Well. It does look like AI. Yeah. Look at the city in the background. Let's have a look at the frog again. He's got a hat on. Magnet. He looks pretty magnificent. He looks like a magician. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I'm always a fan of the stovepipe hat. Yeah? Have you got one? I recommend that. No, I'd like one. I'd like to.
SPEAKER_04You looked good in that hat the other night.
SPEAKER_05Peter Churchill.
SPEAKER_04He wore he didn't wear a what did he wear? Yeah, it's Brunel's the one.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I've always wanted to go to Glastonbury in a Wicca stovepipe hat. Okay. Wow.
SPEAKER_04Well there you go, you got a yeared and bank one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Or a sauce one. You could do that. That's not impossible. Yeah. It's a lot of effort, isn't it?
unknownNah.
SPEAKER_06I don't know. There'll be some hippie in Glastonbury that'll make one for a fiver or something if you give them some crack or something.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I know a couple, actually.
SPEAKER_05That wasn't even a joke. So it's a better crowd here, didn't you? We've got a live studio audience.
SPEAKER_04This isn't a laugh track.
SPEAKER_00Are you ready for your next one?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think we we just need to figure out. We need to figure out where this is going, if it's going over or under.
SPEAKER_06I've just tried that again, it tastes really good now.
SPEAKER_04Well, we can't put a whole keg on the towel. That would squash it all, wouldn't it?
SPEAKER_06Everything's been really good so far.
SPEAKER_00Can we can we don't sell any rubbish in the orchid?
SPEAKER_04This feels bad putting the data underneath it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but it's not bad though. Oh, it's degrees of I mean if you're talking on tap, this is 3.7. True. 3.72. True. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I do love those raters.
SPEAKER_05Sorry. Ratists. Ratists. Yeah, the ratists.
SPEAKER_00Are you ready for your next one? Yeah, ready. This one, I've gone a bit a bit um off the pizza.
SPEAKER_06Oh, I know it's a lot of things.
SPEAKER_00It's on the kernel to the brewery in London. With raspberry. So it's a blend of Saisons. Re-fermented.
SPEAKER_06From the kernel.
SPEAKER_00300 grams of whole raspberries for three months. Three months?
SPEAKER_04Three rash past its best then. I would have drank it by then.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, imagine wet little Imagine being the guy looking after that warehouse with three months.
SPEAKER_04How big a batch? Would they do that at?
SPEAKER_05I don't know. I think we have to talk to the good people at the colonel.
SPEAKER_04Email in? KFC at the colonel spelt like um like a popcorn colonel. Yeah. No, is it? Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. I was just making a silly joke.
SPEAKER_04It's c it's coloured.
SPEAKER_05It's Raspberry. Yeah. And and you know me, I'm open to all sorts of things. But fruit in beer.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_05It's a Saison. Really? Yeah, not a fan. And I mean this might change my mind. Thanks. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Thank you, Shadow. You can read it out again if you want. I'm just. Well, it says bottle conditioned beer, store upright and pour gently. Oh, riveting stuff. Do not drink while you are pregnant. Ingredient point two viewers. Actually, it doesn't say that. Uh water hops, sugar, raspberries, yeast, barley wheat.
SPEAKER_04Oh, it smells fucking lovely.
SPEAKER_06It smells good.
SPEAKER_05That's too fruity.
SPEAKER_06I mean I could be a decision.
SPEAKER_04I love it already. You are quite fruity.
unknownI am not sure.
SPEAKER_06Let's see. Nah. Whoa. I just sort of taste like TCP.
SPEAKER_04Do you know what? I retract my statement. I like fruit and beer when it doesn't turn it into cider. That tastes like cider in a card.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was that from Linda.
SPEAKER_04That tastes like cider.
SPEAKER_06It tastes vinegary.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's like a fruit and cider. It's weird.
SPEAKER_06It is like a fruit code, like a copper burger or a couple of things.
SPEAKER_04Or like a really cheap rose edge.
SPEAKER_06No, it does have a TCP edge as well. Never gargle TCP edge.
SPEAKER_05Or always swallow. No. That's in TCP. TCP.
SPEAKER_04What even is that?
SPEAKER_05It's like antibacterial. Tetrochloride. Oh it's a good thing.
SPEAKER_04I think it I thought it I always thought it was. It's his um what do you call that? His elemental name. Scientific compound name. Yeah. Uh why do you have to goggle that from sucking too much dick?
SPEAKER_06No. It's usually if you have a sore throat.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, from sucking too much dick.
SPEAKER_06Well, no, usually from a from a bacterial infection. Oh yeah, we're gets to the point where we don't even need to say it. From alfalces, cuts, grazers, bites, stings and spots. Stings and spots and cocks. Six pounds sixty for a little bottle of that now. Fuck yeah, no. Cheaper than a pump. No, no. TCP. Not in here. Yeah, true, not in here. No, I really like that beer de Saison. I don't think I'd buy it. Not for me. That's the type of beer I'd have on holiday once and be like, oh, that was weird. It just tastes like wine or something. I like it.
SPEAKER_04Very good, very nice.
SPEAKER_00Oh, excellent. Well done.
SPEAKER_04Call them. The podcast might actually make us some money this week.
SPEAKER_03Well, not us. Not you two. No, no, no, yeah, sorry.
SPEAKER_06I'm just gonna check my emails quickly. Oh right, sorry. Are we interrupting you?
SPEAKER_05Well I uh talking of emails, perhaps we ought to remind my segue. Mine remind the listeners what our email is.
SPEAKER_04I've forgotten it.
SPEAKER_06Etsum at iCloud.com. And if you can't remember that, it will be in the podcast description. Yeah. Etsom at iCloud.com. And please, for the love of God, just email us.
SPEAKER_05Didn't we have an email? Yeah, we did. Should we go into that? Or should we do that after the what's the halfway point? How many beers have we got? Oh yeah, I can't remember.
SPEAKER_03What's the email again?
SPEAKER_06Linda's asking because she wants to do that.com.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, just send one in now really quick and by the end of the questions, any comments?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah, yeah. To be fair, you could come on a mic if you want. How many beers are there, Sharon? Five. Okay, so we are at the half more than halfway point.
SPEAKER_05So so this is how long ago our last podcast is, because this was sent after Mark the Gasman read listened to our last podcast.
SPEAKER_04When was the last podcast out?
SPEAKER_05I don't know when it was out. Maybe May. But he sent us an email on the 26th of May. Yeah. Um and it is entitled Feeling Sad for You, so sent you an email. Kask Keg Bass Price Dogs Cyclists. Nice. That's the subject. So I think we've got a lot to chew over there, haven't we? Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Oh yeah, because last time you got bitten by a dog.
SPEAKER_04That was the last one, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_04How is that? I don't really look at it much, and I probably should. I thought the other day. I'm not getting it out now. But I think actually I probably should.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Well, you mean you haven't looked at it?
SPEAKER_04I couldn't be, I've only just thought that. No, it's not infected.
SPEAKER_05Right. Oh, hang on, sorry. Um, for the listeners that have been.
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna have to take my shoe off. It's not I'll do it later. I don't think that's necessary. Yeah, great. But I think it's fine. I should look forward to it. It's just a small scar, it didn't get infected, I didn't need antibiotics, and the good news is I'm covered by tetanus for another ten years. So who's the real winner?
SPEAKER_06Do you think the dog got put down?
SPEAKER_04I hope so. I mean if Anne if Ann already it would have been it will be soon.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um so before we make sure of it.
SPEAKER_05Before we go to the next beer, I just thought I'd obviously that's the title I've just read out. Yeah. Should we read it through? No, well we'll just do this, have a beer, and then we'll get on to the meat of the email. Oh, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. Or the the body of the email for vegetarians. Um for cannibals. So he just says, and um Sharon um Sharon might want to listen to this. The email starts. Hi to all. Hello, Mark. Hello. Hello, Mark Gasman. At the Etsom Arms and the supreme leader, Sharon, of course. Oh, supreme leader Sharon. Mark the Gasman considers you the supreme leader.
SPEAKER_00Yes, because Mark knows what's what's the device.
SPEAKER_04What are you frantically typing out? Nothing. Okay. So um yeah, so we've got a sticker that. Oh yeah. A tricky Death Star sticker. For no reason.
SPEAKER_06Oh shit. What was wrong with that?
SPEAKER_05So, um, so what is the next beer?
SPEAKER_00Oh, sorry, right. This is the one I've got a special request for.
SPEAKER_05Okay. From whom?
SPEAKER_00From Max for music, because it's called Twin Peaks. Oh, nice. You see where I'm going here?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I see.
SPEAKER_05You're gonna have to beef this out because he's now desperately searching for. I can beef it out. What's Twin Peaks? I've got it. Have you never watched it? No. David Lynch series back in the 80s. Back in the 80s.
SPEAKER_04That's why I must have missed it.
SPEAKER_0090s. Sorry, nineties.
SPEAKER_06What do you do when your mic's down, bro? I didn't tighten it enough.
SPEAKER_00I love to listen to that. I love to listen to that.
SPEAKER_04And what happened to it?
SPEAKER_05Oh god.
SPEAKER_04Give me a brief overview. This is the theme music. Is it worth watching? Yeah, it's very good. It is very good.
SPEAKER_00It's a 5% Anglo-American pale ale from Thornbridge. I'm not sure where Thornbridge are, didn't it?
SPEAKER_06Oh, Thornbridge, they do J Pur and that. Yes.
SPEAKER_05Aren't they sort of hips which way? Martha Gasman's gonna have a field day with this, isn't he? Because he said, You don't know where Joy Poor or Thornbridge are.
SPEAKER_06Thornbridge Brewery is in Bakewell. Is that where the tart was made?
SPEAKER_05Yes, obviously.
SPEAKER_06Is that where your mum was born? Bakewell.
SPEAKER_04I don't get it. What? I'm not explaining my joke. Bakewell? Yeah, I said, is that where the tart was made? Is that where your mum was born? I didn't hear the first one. Fuck you. Thank you, Sharon.
SPEAKER_06Apparently it's not too busy right now.
SPEAKER_05Anglo-American, isn't all of America Anglo? No. Not the um not the Latin speaking part of Oh yeah, true. Does Anglo mean English?
SPEAKER_04Yes. Thanks. Twin Peaks is a translantic crossover exploiting the best of the UK and the USA. The mould base is a Maris Otter, a legendary British heritage barley variety, famed for its rich and multi-character. This acts as the perfect foundation for the carefully selected American hops to shine. We use a mix of classic West Coast varieties along with the renowned citra. For a parade grapefruit and mango with floral character.
SPEAKER_05What about you?
SPEAKER_04Serves at five to eight degrees. Cascade hops amarillo. Centennial citra willamette. Light grapefruit orange. Lemon sherbet floral. Steakhouse burger. What?
SPEAKER_06Steakhouse burger. That's what it says at Pairs burger. I thought that was a hop.
SPEAKER_05Can we phone up? We got a steakhouse burger. Can we phone up chicken and pizza then and say we get steakhouse burger together?
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Five percent. Trouble is though, that would give me the shits. Steakhouse burger, yeah, definitely.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I don't know what that'll that'll bung me right up.
SPEAKER_06Something's literally do they. You can't deny that. White bread. If you ate a loaf of white bread, you'd become a loaf of it. But that's a fact. You can't say it's a pussy.
SPEAKER_04I didn't realise people still ate white bread.
SPEAKER_06I have white bread this morning. I love white bread. I love white bread. White power.
SPEAKER_04Just bread. It's bad for you, bro.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I know that, but that's what.
SPEAKER_05You should eat the whole grain stuff then. And the beer's fantastic. I'm not really.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. What I do, I eat I eat brown bread so that I can drink more beer.
SPEAKER_00Do you want to know what the untapped score is for this one?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. Please. I quite like this music, it's Serene. Yeah.
SPEAKER_003.59.
SPEAKER_043.59. So this is even lower again. Yeah. What was the the kernel one?
SPEAKER_00Did that have a did we say the kernel was 3.84.
SPEAKER_04Oh wow.
SPEAKER_05Ah yeah, but that's because the beer nerds will get the bigger. Yeah, well the Poncy lot were drinking. Derek. Derek will be doing it.
unknownThat's the old Tatsu.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_06Shall we drink? And drink. It smells nice.
SPEAKER_05I've still got raspberry on my yellow.
SPEAKER_06I like that. It's not I really like that. It's not as bombastic as um. It's not as bombastic as um the other stuff we've discussed.
SPEAKER_04It's almost like that's almost like a umba loba. That almost tastes like a premium lager.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah, no, I know. Like special brew.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. I like it. I like it. I like it. Um I prefer the other two though.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it I mean it's completely different. It is different. It tastes more like Lager. Lager. For sure.
SPEAKER_04I think I prefer the other two. But that's a solid beer. It's really good. Yeah, I like that a lot. So does that go under the day? I wouldn't know if I'd call it a pale ale though. But I guess what else would you call it? Um, yeah, I mean it must it's gonna have to Where where are we putting the kernel? You're not even rating that. True. Yeah, to be fair, I would say it's down the bottom anyway.
SPEAKER_03I did say that.
SPEAKER_04But that one that's better than the kernel. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean that Win Peaks is better than the Colonel.
SPEAKER_05So, um Mark continues. Yeah. He's hailed to the Supreme Leader. Um great choice powder keg Budley Salterton. Have founded in 2014, have had it mostly in the Bridge Inn Topsham, lovely pub by the way, on Gravity Cast, always good. Then he goes on to talk about Bass. Bass a pale ale, believe it or not, is again one of those beers that people say isn't as good as it used to. Yeah. But I wouldn't know. But Nukey B. As it's the only beer that ever gives Mark Gassman a headache.
SPEAKER_04Oh, here we go again with the ailments. I can't drink that. What ails you? Can't drink that or do this to me. White wine gives me headaches. So in the amount you drink, probably, yeah. Yeah. So I drink. Wait, but that's interesting though. So does Mark Mark Gasman's a renowned beer drinker, I I presume from his knowledge. Yeah. And he this is his one thing. Is that the not the right word?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, no, that's renowned beer drinkers. That's just a piss head.
SPEAKER_04Well, you know he's got a pain. Tomato tomato. Based off of his knowledge, you know. Yeah. He speaks he speaks.
SPEAKER_06No, no, no, he's incredibly knowledgeable. Yeah. About gas as well, I assume. Mark gas. Yeah, he's probably got a lot. He knows about gas. He's probably got gas from all that.
SPEAKER_04All that beer he's been drinking, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Bass gives him gas. So um so I never drink drink it, right? Fair enough. Although he knows that the best pint at the Dolphin Plymouth on the gravity cask apparently is the best pint on the Bass Triangle was the first UK registered trademark, one for the next quiz. I think we've already done that.
SPEAKER_06Uh the first ever UK registered trademark. Yeah. I would have thought it was like ships or slaves or something.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but they didn't have like the paperwork required to trademark shit back then, did they?
SPEAKER_06I don't feel like they would have ever been able to No, I don't know when trademarks became a thing.
SPEAKER_05What year was that? Well, that's been ever since Day Dot, isn't it? Trademarks. Since merchants.
SPEAKER_04No, but you just said Bass was the first trademark. Registered trademark.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but that was 17 something.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that was quite late. A dedicated employee camped out overnight on New Year's Eve in eighteen seventy five outside the patent office in London to be ensure the famous red triangle was the first in line to be filed.
SPEAKER_05Nice. He he then goes on to talk about uh a guide to cask sizes, the traditional imperial system. And it's quite a long He concludes with there are loads more keg corny kegs, etc. But that's a whole episode on its own. Well do you know what? Your keg sizes aren't gonna make the cut today because there is a much better story at the end of this email about Dolph.
SPEAKER_06Also we can have him come on and do we could have him as a guest. I think we should do that. We can come back to keg size. The first time we've invited you. 100%, Mark. You're a loyal you're a loyal fan and a renowned beer drinker. Yay. And we should have you on and you can talk about keg sizes and cash sizes.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, because because he's not going to be popular after this, so I think he needs to build his rep up. Oh shit. Dogs in pubs to add to the dog story.
SPEAKER_04Sounds like a good man to me already.
SPEAKER_05I have got no problems with dogs in bars, but unfortunately, like some tamp taperums have barred kids, because they are untrained in it. Yeah. Will happen with dogs unless the owner trained them. It seems to be a lack of skill in this field recently. I was in a pub in Glastonbury. Obviously a rare event. It's all those COVID dogs, I swear. Obviously a rare event, as I only drink in the Etsy arms. Yeah, of course. A dog was constant a dog was constantly barking, and me and my friend could not hear each other. We politely asked if the dog could stop barking and and if not, take be taken outside. Untrained dog and owner. The response was we got was not great, and someone near them started on saying it. It's not very good English, Mark. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_04I don't know if it's your reading or his writing. No, it's his writing.
SPEAKER_05Was okay. Then two people came in from the other bar to say, can you please get the dog to shut up? Nice. Then they drank up and left. So this is his summary of the whole situation. So dogs in short on short leads, under control and on the floor, not on seats, due to the possible infection and of toxicoresis.
SPEAKER_04Is that the thing that makes you blind? Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So why you can't have dogs on the sports field? Which can cause serious human eye sight conditions. Shit. Both basically from their share.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, they don't wipe their ass.
SPEAKER_04Which is why I was surprised up at the fucking summit of Monday the other day, they had a load of dogs up there.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, shitty bum dog.
SPEAKER_05Basically, most dogs are not trained and their owners seem even more untrained. Yeah, scum. So I I think that's not the sentiment of the X of Arms. No. But we like we welcome well behaved dogs in the pub. Fair enough. I've just got one more line after this. He concludes with just a tip. If you want more emails, just mention cyclists. Oh scum.
SPEAKER_04Oh joke.
SPEAKER_06I'm a cyclist. Yeah, exactly. Do you get many cyclists in there? Yeah, but we get loads. Yeah. I'm joking. I'm joking. I'm joking. I'm joking.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I I'm I I appreciate everyone's right to um cycle and enjoy themselves and get fit. You got so right. But if I if I ever acceded to great office and became Prime Minister or anything like that, first law, no one over the age of 35 should wear Lycra.
SPEAKER_04Wait, what?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_04What if they're like in good nick?
SPEAKER_06Nah. Nah.
SPEAKER_04I'm I'm approaching 35.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you look well You've seen him in Lycra now. I look pretty good in Lycra. I don't know about that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so that's that's just I'm 29. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Would that would be the first thing you do if you read the city? First thing I do, I'd give a shit about poverty or anything like that. Just the light code. Replica football shirts. Uh well. Okay, where do you cycle on your in your everyday life? Whatever the fuck I want. Yeah, take it. Yeah, exactly. You cycle to the pub, don't you? Or you cycle to a c for a for a coffee. Because you're always queuing up in front of me with these lycra cow clad. Yeah, I often cycle to Do you know why a professional cyclist wears lycra?
SPEAKER_04For speed.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, to gain marginal gains of seconds. For like sweat. So do you wicking? Do you do you really need to get there like 0.9 of a second before chafing as well?
SPEAKER_04Because like my shorts as well. Because you don't wear underwear with them.
SPEAKER_06That's disgusting. I don't want to think about your knob.
SPEAKER_04But one of these double E on this episode. It's freeing. It's freeing, you know. And it's quick, and you don't you don't chafe and and you have the the padded the padded shorts. Um and then the other thing, like the jersey is just like they have convenient pockets and they're they're lightweight and they Oh, because no other garment has pockets. Not like a top, not like the how they do on the back. It's good stuff. I'll show you mine one day. I'll come I'll cycle in. You're alright. You're alright. I've seen it. Yeah. You don't need to get anywhere any quicker. I don't think it necessarily makes you that much faster though. It's more just like the whole comfort.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, comfort. Well, I'd I'd be interested.
SPEAKER_06I'd be more comfortable in the car.
SPEAKER_05Going to the co-op.
SPEAKER_06You wouldn't drive that you wouldn't drive that far. Yeah, I'm well good at driving now.
SPEAKER_05I think we've laid our stall out here and we're looking forward to Mark's response. Yeah. Yeah. But thank you.
SPEAKER_06There's a stall here for Mark if he wants to be on.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no, we've invited him. So come back.
SPEAKER_06You've got a spare mic.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_05Um again.
SPEAKER_06He has to pay for his own beer though.
SPEAKER_05Thanks to Mark. And one for each of us. Long term listener, fan of the pub, fan of the podcast. Let's have a clink for Mark. Thank you, Mark.
SPEAKER_06Only listener. Only emailer. Only emailer, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um you have got an email from Linda as well, but you can wait for the colour. Well, the machine next one.
SPEAKER_01More cold bear. I've provided you with some more cold cold pair I'll fill my Linda machine. Are you ready for your nitrogen levels?
SPEAKER_05We are ready for our next one.
SPEAKER_04I see O2 in it. Oh god.
SPEAKER_05It's gone in my junk, I think. Sorry.
SPEAKER_02Sorry.
SPEAKER_05Not received. Not received an email. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00Is it just etsom.
SPEAKER_05iCloud.com.
unknownYeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06ETSOM at symbol iclod com.com. That's it, yeah. Uh yeah, that is right.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05Has it appeared on it might have gone in Miss Spam. Oh Yeah!
SPEAKER_03It's in the jam.
SPEAKER_05Oh no, Linda. Why is it gone to the jump? Right, what's the next beer?
SPEAKER_00Right, this is uh you're like You've got to stop with those. This is a new one from Left Handed Giant, new to me. I made Pete drive to Bristol to go and get some stock from Left Handed Giant. You're welcome.
SPEAKER_06Oh. The things we say on this podcast would get us locked up.
SPEAKER_00That smells good.
SPEAKER_04I think we've been pretty tame in this daytime hour. Yeah, well.
SPEAKER_05Before the watershed, aren't we?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Can't even swear.
SPEAKER_05You've been pretty ballot, can't we?
SPEAKER_06I've been what? You've been pretty good this week. Yeah. Thanks. I listened to it at my mum and she was like, that swears a lot, doesn't it? Wait, I called her a tart earlier. Well that's not staying in. Actually, maybe it will stay in.
SPEAKER_04No, but it's such a generic your mum joke. It's not, it wasn't.
SPEAKER_06I didn't even hear the first part of it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we have to listen back. Double listen back, right?
SPEAKER_06Smells nice. Double dry hopped.
SPEAKER_05D H D D H the things we say.
SPEAKER_06Things we say, eh? 5.5%. It smells creamy. Left-handed giant. Got the hat on.
SPEAKER_04Max is putting a can on his head.
SPEAKER_06Oh, visually impaired. There's no video.
SPEAKER_05Oh we uh are we gonna clink?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I like I like the the can. The can smell nice. Smells nice.
SPEAKER_06We're in. Oh. I think that's that's nice.
SPEAKER_05Oh it's weird though.
SPEAKER_06Oh I like it.
SPEAKER_05Do you? It's like that. Yeah, I like it. I like it.
SPEAKER_06I like it. I like it. I like it. Strange. Very good, very nice. I like it.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_04It is nice, yeah. It's very flavourful.
SPEAKER_06I like it.
SPEAKER_00I like how different it like these have all been.
SPEAKER_06Um I d I really enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_04Pete? That might be the best one. I I I'd put it up there.
SPEAKER_06I think I think it's better than the frog did it for me as well. Yeah, frog was they've all been very good today.
SPEAKER_04I think this is better than the frog.
SPEAKER_06I I need to uh we can't go again. Yeah, we can need another one. I need another one. We could record for like three hours today, to be fair. We could do I I love how we started early specifically and we're basically like almost finished, and we haven't even done an hour. Have we not?
SPEAKER_04Is it something about the day because I feel less talkative? Yeah, or sober.
SPEAKER_06No, I feel quite good now. I feel like I'm I've ramped into it. You're in, yeah. Yeah, fair. But usually we're at like an hour and fifteen and we've only had three.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we've got about another twenty-three minutes of material to find. Yeah. Yeah, we could do that. Easy, we've got an email.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Are those nuts for us?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Which ones are they? I reckon we can just chat it out, probably.
SPEAKER_05They're the bacon. So I and we're still thinking about this, shouldn't we?
SPEAKER_04We should, yeah, we should probably talk about that one. Fucking talking about nuts.
SPEAKER_05That's nuts.
SPEAKER_06Now we're talking about nuts. Stop.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no one likes that. So you're not with me on banning s like craft?
SPEAKER_04No, because I think it's necessary, it's comfy, it's nice. Have you ever put any on? No, God no. I wouldn't ban it, but I would make a public humiliation. But what's wrong with it? What don't you like about it?
SPEAKER_05Well, it's just like Do you think it's what?
SPEAKER_04You don't you think you can see too much or Oh, sometimes there's some guys coming here and they're like in their sixties.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and you can like see the outline of the wrinkles on their nuts like.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but let's just let 'em let them do their thing. But it's just like that's like it feels predatory. Yeah, maybe. It's when they when they have the bikeware as well, and they unzip and you the chest hair comes out. Yeah, exactly, exactly. No, I know.
SPEAKER_05But don't go to a pub. Do you know what I mean? You wouldn't come well no, people do come in in their high Vs and overalls and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_04But what I'm saying is you wouldn't like if you were a cyclist, if you rode a bike for as long as those guys do, you would you would you would realise that you don't want to be wearing anything about that. It's the optimal clothing. Yeah, but whether or not it's I don't think it's just for speed, but for comfort mainly and for Yeah, but if you were a scuba diver, you wouldn't come in and to the pub with a wetsuit on.
SPEAKER_06That's a really good point. Too good point, too, really good point.
SPEAKER_04So maybe just ban don't ban LightGru, ban cyclists from pubs. Yeah, I'm down with that.
SPEAKER_05Would that include you? If you've come in my body cycle, if you're exactly apologies to the bridge cycle club in Lancourt, but we do love your custom here. We listened to this on the way here.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's them I went on a bike ride I listened to a podcast. Alright, okay. So what uh what I don't think we should ban them. I don't have a problem with old old men drinking nuts.
SPEAKER_05I think it's it's dressing. Don't clip that. Dress appropriately.
SPEAKER_04I just think no, what'd you no, but no, but there's no there's no way that you can do that. They're not gonna bring a backpack full of like overalls. When they come clippy cloppy in here looking like sperms. Yeah, the clippy cloppy is another thing as well. But they're just cleats, though. You can't bring another pair of shoes.
SPEAKER_05There's so many you have to then separate your sport from your shoulders.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, mate, go home, have a shower, then go to the pub. Yeah, yeah. I d I don't yeah. Well, I don't often go to a pub recycling, coffee shop, yeah. Because the trouble is with me, I can't just have one and go home. Oh, he's not gonna sell much ice cream going that quick. Have we already done that one on the podcast? I don't know. I do it. I know you do it every time. Um that one. But what was I saying? Um I don't yeah, I would I don't think I'd go for I'd I've definitely gone for one beer only because I was I saw you. I didn't feel comfortable though, sat in a pub in Lycra. So I wouldn't make a habit of it. I do it in cafe.
SPEAKER_06I post the pictures of me and you. But I often sit outside. Yeah, you can put that up.
SPEAKER_04You live in Lycra in a pub with my beer. Um Yeah, because cause pubs, I I kinda want to sit in a pub for a decent amount of time and enjoy myself, have a few. Yeah, what you're doing there then. Wow, I'm doing exactly that. I've been here since since half two. Um so what's the verdict on this? Where are we going to be? So back to the beer. Um it was very interesting. Yeah, good. I I want more of it. So I I I would say put it at the top. I think it's better than the frog. I don't like the frog anymore because it's it's been looking at me in the eye for too long.
SPEAKER_05Um I've got it all really good. To quote um our good friend.
SPEAKER_04No substitute for ABV.
SPEAKER_05No substitute for ABV.
SPEAKER_04Have we done that? We literally have, haven't we? Oh no, no, no. No, no, no, that was the The Twin Peaks. Yeah. But I don't think the Twin Peaks was really that comparable in terms of similarity to the other three.
SPEAKER_05I'm excluding the fruity nonsense one, but well, shall we um get another beer lined up and I'll read Lydia's uh Linda Lydia's? Linda's email.
SPEAKER_04Linda Linda?
SPEAKER_05Linda? Linda.
SPEAKER_00I'm just gonna read it, Linda.
SPEAKER_04Right, Linda from this is our very first live email, so thank you very much.
SPEAKER_05Live studio audience. Simon from Butley emailed, didn't he? Oh yeah, yeah, sorry, yeah. Uh Linda from South Petherton writes. Oh, she's come a long way.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Uh good pub out there. Nice pub. Um better one here, obviously. Obviously. Um she's in the audience today. Hello, Linda. Hello. Um I have to tell you that I unexpectedly really enjoyed that Raspberry Saison.
SPEAKER_06Oh. Yeah, same.
SPEAKER_05And it will be added to the name redacted drinking list.
SPEAKER_04What's a redacted name?
SPEAKER_05Those surnames. We don't get a sort of thing.
SPEAKER_04Oh, we see.
SPEAKER_05I've learned a bit now.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, nice. Yeah, you can't you can't be doing that.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, we don't want to reveal people's uh true identities. Yeah. In case there's some nefarious uh what n neer do wrongs out there. Neer do wrongs? N'er do wrongs. What's that? Neer do wells, I think.
SPEAKER_05Near do wrongs is just like you get close to doing something wrong, but you don't do it. N'er do wells.
SPEAKER_04Was it ne'er do well? He never does well. Oh, okay. He never does good things. He never does wrong. So a ne'er do Harry Kane. Harry Kane. Harry Kane, yeah. Yeah. We haven't mentioned the World Cup. He's our fucking saviour.
SPEAKER_05We haven't mentioned the World Cup since who's staying up till 1 am on Sunday. Are we open?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think we're opening here, aren't we? Till one? Are we can we? Who's just in? Why not? Yeah. Could be the last game of the World Cup for England. Yeah, it could be.
SPEAKER_06That would be so awkward if everyone'd be like in bed and then he's wake up and it's like, fuck it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Our village pub's gonna be open, I think. Is it? Yeah. I might come down, but then I won't be able to get back. Do you reckon we'll be there long enough to I can get three first 376 home? What the fuck? No, it won't be that. You mean it's a walk back? Not a far.
SPEAKER_05What day is it? If you borrowed his Lightcra, you could sign it Monday night. Sunday night Lightcra.
SPEAKER_04This Sunday.
SPEAKER_05Oh wait, it's Monday morning.
SPEAKER_06It's Monday morning.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I don't know what I'm working on Monday.
SPEAKER_061 a.m. it starts.
SPEAKER_04But yeah, I mean I'd be down for anything. Max knows what he's working on Monday. Fuck cool. Yeah. Yeah. Classic. So anyway, was that the end of the email? Yeah, that was the end of the email.
SPEAKER_05Thank you, Linda. Thank you. Thanks, Linda. Keep them coming. Keep them coming. Oh no, that was the last beer. We're done. Yeah. Oh wait, yeah. What haven't we talked about? Um my race. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so I have been.
SPEAKER_05Not in Lycra?
SPEAKER_04No, it wasn't actually. Well, it was in I had very short shorts, five-inch leg.
SPEAKER_05I was gonna say, it's Andy Burnham giving you all his shorts. Who's that? He's I know.
SPEAKER_04Is he Prime Minister yet?
SPEAKER_05No, not yeah. Not at the time not at the time of recording, though.
SPEAKER_04Who who is? Kir Starmer's dog. Is that not of immediate effect?
SPEAKER_05No, you r you don't resign as Prime God. Welcome to politics today. It always happens. Um you don't resign as Prime Minister, you resign as leader of your party. Oh, okay. But you still have the job as Prime Minister.
SPEAKER_04So is he how long so he will still do his time? Yes.
SPEAKER_05Oh, and then that overrules it. And then the party then the Prime Minister becomes whoever is leader of the party.
SPEAKER_04Oh, okay, I see.
SPEAKER_05Slightly XM arms really. Our glorious leader Sharon's here forever.
SPEAKER_04What about your general manager?
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah, we had to get rid of him. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I don't blame you. It didn't stop the boat. From a langpole.
SPEAKER_05Didn't stop the booze. Yeah, true. Um so anyway. What which one? The the LinkedIn joke which we just made. We've talked about it enough, haven't we?
SPEAKER_04I think we mentioned it in l in the lesson.
SPEAKER_05Have we talked about it on the podcast? We've mentioned it a lot in front of you to take the picture.
SPEAKER_06So basically, should we explain it now? Yeah, I think it has I think it has been explained. Or maybe it's just because I've heard it so much.
SPEAKER_04What was the content? Where was the initial conversation?
SPEAKER_06We were at um Fierce Noble. Fierce and Noble trade day. And then I was talking about getting a job in Bristol and my mate L and I was like, oh, she's got so she's she works for like this space company. Yeah. And then Pete goes, let me look at your LinkedIn. I was on her LinkedIn trying to find out exactly who she worked for. Uh huh. And you were like, let me look at your LinkedIn, and it still had unupdated. What do you mean still? Because you never were. I was general manager of the office.
SPEAKER_05No, just manager. I don't know what you don't know what the difference is.
SPEAKER_04So here's LinkedIn's a general manager of the Yetzma. Explicitly.
SPEAKER_05Which um were built.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Is that what General means?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it means you do everything.
SPEAKER_06And you did the bare minimum. I did a lot do everything. I did a lot in it. I did most things in the office. Yeah, true. You built the whole website, didn't you? Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Which we're eternally grateful for.
SPEAKER_04Is it still standing? Our website not been hacked yet? Any hackers out there? I didn't put any prop Let's break it.
SPEAKER_06Don't do that.
SPEAKER_04But anyway, so I um in in this little gap of uh not doing podcasts, I actually I ran a 10K.
SPEAKER_06He's been training as well.
SPEAKER_04I was training for that. So it was my first ever race event. I did it in a professional racist. Okay, racer. I completed it in 46 minutes, 17. Wow. Um and it was good, it went it went very well. I was very happy with it. I was off the booze for a the right. I think I was only a week by the end of it. I was like, I'm gonna do a whole month. I was like the whole of June, I'm not gonna bother, because it was like at the end of June. And then I think there was a couple quizzes and a couple of things here and there. So then I think the last drinkab was on that Sunday. Nice. That quiz, and then yeah, it was the following Sunday after that. It was your first 10k. Yeah, and I booked in I booked in two more races. I was doing the Wessex 10K, which actually starts in Summerton. Yeah. End of July. I'll do that one. I don't like all these cheering. What's that? Um and I've also booked in uh Yoga Half Marathon next year. Mainly so I don't have to work it again, because that was hell. Oh. In the coffee shop, yeah. But so now I'm gonna run it. I reckon it'll be easier, honestly. Fair play to him, you know.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so that's what I've been up to.
SPEAKER_06Running.
SPEAKER_04What have you been up to in the in the running around? You've been you've been gigging lots. I've been gigging lots. You've been touring the world. Touring the country, the southwest. And a bit more. And the east. Oh yeah, south east.
SPEAKER_06Are you on north much? No, not really at all. Soon you'll be in Manchester. We're playing in Manchester. That's a long drive. We're playing in Brighton. Nice. A lot of co-ops in Manchester.
SPEAKER_04Lot Wait, really? Yeah. How many co-ops are in Man? They never say you're in Manchester. If you're in Manchester, you're never more than 600 metres from a co-op.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it's like in Newcastle, you're never more than 500 metres from a Greg's. Is that true? There's like 300 or something in the world. Wow.
SPEAKER_04I like a Greg's. Yeah, same. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Imagine if the can we get delivery? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I think you can.
SPEAKER_06What would you have delivered from Greg's? Imagine if we just got like a uh like a hundred sausage rolls and just gave them out.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, all the homeless people in summer. You'd have thought a general manager would have a better grip stock of the budget for this sort of production. Yeah, but we could say it was for charity. That's not 140 quid. Is there a button on um like deliveroo that says I'm having this for charity? Greg. Please deliver.
SPEAKER_06Ah well you could write it off at expenses, surely.
SPEAKER_05So I I'm a bit confused and I might need some help here. Because usually at the end of the podcast, I call last orders.
SPEAKER_04Do it now and see what everyone says.
SPEAKER_05Everyone's gonna lose their shit, aren't they? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Well we need to get a last drink in then, I guess, don't we?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, so so what are we gonna have to drink? I don't know. I'm gonna have that that uh rolling hills summer valley.
SPEAKER_04You're gonna go again. Rolling hills, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I'm gonna do the same. Yeah, rolling out.
SPEAKER_04That was the it was good to start, it'll be good to end. Rolling hi-hats.
SPEAKER_05So we're gonna have um Yeah, can we have three pipes of the Summer Valley? Have you got any more tricks, Pete? No, I I haven't. Um but they will be available on our socials, which is at just look up the Cascast.
SPEAKER_06I think it's the At some Cascast, isn't it? If anyone to find it, they'll find it. Yes, at the At some Castcast on Instagram. We posted today. We posted a video. We posted Have we got music on this Sunday?
SPEAKER_04Or is that last Sunday?
SPEAKER_05We got music on Friday night and we got music on Sunday night.
SPEAKER_04Wow, well this isn't gonna be out before then, is it? But so we can't promote promote this weekend's activities. Do we need to go through uh the the beer tower again?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, why not? So what was it?
SPEAKER_04So at the very bottom, the colonel we had the the the the colonels, unfortunately. It was a great beer, liked by all. Liked by Linda Linda from South Peters. But I just don't think it was what I was I it's not it's not a bit of me that. I really enjoyed it. Would you buy it? Uh probably not. That's what I mean.
SPEAKER_06Like I really like seven pounds a bottle.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but it's not the point, because I'd spent a lot of money on beer before. So anyway, so that one's at the bottom.
SPEAKER_06Next was I'd have it if it was on draft in here.
SPEAKER_05It's not gonna be, is it?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but that's when I'd have it. Okay.
unknownWho's paying for these then?
SPEAKER_05They can go on my tab. Oh, thanks, Pete. Next up. Oh, the tower almost went.
SPEAKER_04Next up was Twin Peaks. The Anglo-American pale ale. Yeah. The lager one, as I would say. Which again, very nice beer.
SPEAKER_00So have you enjoyed it? Maybe not what I'd go for Offie has to offer.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Tremendously. We're just going through the tower to find out.
SPEAKER_04So in third place, the bronze medal goes to the dayer, the summer ale. Great start. That was brilliant. That'll be the dayer. I'd buy that. Do you know what? Even though I like the frog one, I would have bought the dayer over the frog one. Do you know what I mean? I think the tower's right. I think it is in terms of taste, yeah, but it's funny because you don't know until you've tried it, do you? Buying a can't is a big commitment, but don't be afraid, guys. Go in there and just pick a random can.
SPEAKER_06What does it say certified B on that?
SPEAKER_04B-corp. B Corp. So then second place, silver medal. What's that? What's the magnificent tree frog pale ale?
SPEAKER_05It means you've been accredited to be a green organisation. Okay. From Asvex in Liverpool. No.
SPEAKER_04And then at the very top, I'm not surprised. Left-handed giant. Yeah. Max's future employer. The double dry hop. Double dry hopped. Hazy pail.
SPEAKER_05He's not as bad as we paint him.
SPEAKER_045.5%. The things we say. His number one spot. Beautiful looking can. Beautiful tasting beer. And that is it. We're out. Thank you very much. We have been the Etsom Cascast. We need Sharon to say goodbye. Oh.
SPEAKER_05Right. So I've been Peter. Ash has been Ash.
SPEAKER_04I have been Ash. This actually really good album.
SPEAKER_05And Max has been Max. Hello, I've been Max. Never minimum. He's engineered all this. So again, big shout out to the podcast engineer.
SPEAKER_06All that bullshit sound effects you probably won't hear.
SPEAKER_05Right. So till the next time, we will see you again. Probably maybe evening, maybe afternoon. We might do it in the morning.
SPEAKER_04Let's do one at 7am. Let's do one at 1am on Sunday time. 1am 1am on Sunday time.
SPEAKER_05True, true, true. From the Azteca. What's that? That's the stadium. Oh, it holds a hundred thousand people. Crazy.
SPEAKER_04So it's not as big as Wembley.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no, it is.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Oh wait, it was in Wembley, 80,000. Yeah, 86. Oh. You wouldn't be able to see anything though if you were right at the top of you. Shit.
SPEAKER_05So thank you all for this afternoon. It's been a great afternoon in XMarms, hasn't it? It's a different audience, different crowd. We've all had a good time.
SPEAKER_04And I'll be home in time for tea. Yeah, time for a kebab. Max phone. It'll be staying for a kid. Yeah. So actually his mum's here now.
SPEAKER_05Goodbye. Goodbye from Ash. Goodbye. Goodbye from Max.
SPEAKER_06Goodbye.
SPEAKER_05Goodbye from Sharon.
