Good evening. Good evening. Hello. Happy Thursday. Happy Thursday. Might not be Thursday where you are, but it is right now. It's not even going to be Thursday when this is uploaded, probably.
SPEAKER_00Well, welcome. It's Thursday somewhere. Welcome to the Etsom Castcast. Me, Max, me, Peter, that is. Max and Ash and Sharon serving at the moment. Are joining us from uh the Etsom Arms in Somerton. Way! The Summerton Premier Micropub. Oh yeah. The best. And uh we it's been a while since we've been here, isn't it?
SPEAKER_02It has. I was here the other I was here last week.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but in the podcast chat.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I was here this morning.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, were you on time?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Have you turned me down?
SPEAKER_00A little bit, yeah, because you're clipping all over the place. Oh, sorry.
SPEAKER_02I can't hear myself now.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, now turn your thing up. It was the 2nd of July when we were last here. And we're now on the 13th of August. Yeah. It's been a long, long summer. There's a lot, a lot of long, long, hot summer. Hot, very hot summer.
SPEAKER_02Just over a month. Yeah. With no podcast. Sorry, guys. To be fair, people have been stopping me in the street asking me when the next episode's coming out.
SPEAKER_00Who's that? Lunatics. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Escape the asylum.
SPEAKER_01Well, we're back. They're coming up to you on the street because they're saying don't do another one. There's a next one coming out if you release one.
SPEAKER_00We're back. We've got pizza this week. Courtesy of I Love Pizza, Alessandro, who comes into the square here.
SPEAKER_01Is he sponsored? Is it absolutely sponsored as a vodka?
SPEAKER_00Did he give it to us for free? No, he gives a little bit of it to discount.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow. Did you say it's for the Etsom Cast cast?
SPEAKER_00No. He wouldn't know what that was. It is done him. It is beautiful. And that's one of the attractions of the Etsom Arms. If you come here on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, you can purchase pizzas from Alessandro in the square. You're allowed to bring them in. And bring them in. And eat away.
SPEAKER_02Well, there's nothing that goes better with beer than pizza.
SPEAKER_00Beer and pizza. Beer and pizza. What a combo. Can anyone think of a better combo?
SPEAKER_02Not off the top of my head.
SPEAKER_00I could squeeze in a reference to Max's band and you could say you could have fish and chips.
SPEAKER_02I thought you would say beer and eat and mess.
SPEAKER_01Full-time musician, full-time unemployed.
SPEAKER_02What would you have on your fish and chips?
SPEAKER_01Salt and vinegar. I know tartar sorts.
SPEAKER_02I don't have tartar sorts on fish and chip. Yeah, but you can't get it. Can you get it in most fish and chips?
SPEAKER_01You can you get it in like gastro pubs, don't you?
SPEAKER_02It's like under-the-counter sort of shit, isn't it? Like tartar and stuff. I don't know if it is.
SPEAKER_00And some tartar sort of clay.
SPEAKER_02I don't think I've ever seen it in the supermarket. It's probably there. What?
SPEAKER_01It's probably there, but I just don't know where it is. In the supermarket, easy. I always thought you meant it at fish and chip shop.
SPEAKER_00It's in the condiment self.
SPEAKER_02I know, I imagine it would be, but I don't think I could. If we if we were having a game of supermarket sweep and you said run and get me the tartar sauce, I think I'd be five or ten minutes.
SPEAKER_00To be fair, I was going to reference Michael Barrymore then, but I thought that might go wrong. But supermarket sweep. Yeah. I wouldn't go to the condiment aisle, would you?
SPEAKER_02For tartar sauce?
SPEAKER_00No, if you were in supermarket sweep. I've never actually seen it. I don't know what it is. I thought it was just that. You just get to rush around a supermarket and empty it full of your trolley.
SPEAKER_02What do you do? What? And you get to take it home?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02What kind of supermarket is it? Because if it's like a Tesco X ra, I'd go straight to like the booze aisle. I was gonna say the TV, but yeah, probably booze. Oh! Why would I need three? Homeways. Yeah. All of that, all that Lego. Let's get like 10 PS5s. And Pokemon cards.
SPEAKER_00Oh, they keep coming under the lock and key, don't they?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, probably.
SPEAKER_00Tobacco section. Yeah, probably.
SPEAKER_02People nickel that shit now, yeah. Anyway. We digress. What an intro that was.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So welcome everyone to Well we got we've got a number of things on my list here. But I think we should go through them one by one, shouldn't we? Well, we've done the 2nd of July.
SPEAKER_02Do you want to start what we're drinking?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, what are we what are we all drinking today? Your glasses are empty.
SPEAKER_02I've ran out. I spa it's gone out. Um we all know we like to drink beer when we're thirsty.
SPEAKER_00It was it was about 36 degrees Celsius today. Oh where? Here.
SPEAKER_02Oh. See, I never really know what temperature it is.
SPEAKER_01I've got a little widget on my phone, I told you last night you should put it on there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Is that accurate?
SPEAKER_01It's 24 now.
SPEAKER_02But do you ever like, you know, like in like But that's not the that's not your phone telling so taking the temperature from the pictures of like chefs, right, in their kitchen with their actual thermometers being like it's fucking 45 degrees in here. Because they got the they got the fryers on and everything. Like Benny's Fish and Chip. Yeah. That's why he's at a counter.
SPEAKER_00When you had chefs, I had pictures of like Gordon Ramsay on and all.
SPEAKER_02No, when I think Benny's fish and chips. He's working, he's putting in a shift in this heat. Well he's not, because you said you said he wasn't in Ilchester earlier. Yeah, now his fridges are broke down. Oh. And yeah, some other but which is, you know, fair enough. Shouldn't be out here. So um dangerous out there. It's hot, hot, hot. Um, is Sharon with us now? She is, yeah. She's also eating pizza, which is brilliant. We're all here. What's your pizza, Sharon? Yeah, what's your pizza of the week?
SPEAKER_04Hello.
SPEAKER_02Hello.
SPEAKER_04Sorry. Are you ready for your first beer or we all know what pizza you got? Oh, I've got the um barbecue pizza without the barbecue sauce, because he ran out of barbecue sauce. Oh, there you go. Without the chicken, because he ran out of chicken. Oh. So what I've got I've got ham and salami and red onion. Very nice. And it's very lovely.
SPEAKER_00Nice. Are we gonna do what pizza or are we just gonna do that?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we'll do what we're drinking now. Right. So I was drinking, although I've just finished. Um I went for a pint of gravity, the good uh Bristol beer factory, Larker Pilsner. That's how I usually start. Coming in at 4.1%. I was just like, I almost went for what you've got. I won't say it yet, because you can have that. Yeah. But you know, just because something nice and light and refreshing to get the uh the mouth wet.
SPEAKER_00Well, we now have three kegs on on draft. Yeah, wow. So um I've I've gone inadvertently for gravity for this pre-show drink.
SPEAKER_02What does inadvertently mean again?
SPEAKER_00So um Andy, who was in here earlier, offered me a drink. Yeah. And I've asked for a rolling hills. I got gravity.
SPEAKER_02Oh. Did you pour it yourself?
SPEAKER_00No. Oh. Cool, I can't get the staff. Well, but it is tasting sublime in this temperature. It is very nice and refreshing. Refreshing. Beautiful. But we've also got a new cooler, haven't we? Yeah, we have. Yeah, sorry, I was being refreshed by the gravity.
SPEAKER_01We heard it, I think. Cooler, has she got a name as well? We Linda. What's going on? What is going on with the cooler? Because I re I didn't even realise until this morning when I went out there.
SPEAKER_00So we um we borrowed one from uh a friend of the pub, and um it was such a success that we bought a brand Spanker. Wow. Spanker hardly know her. And um it's uh it sort of works in parallel with the existing um cooler, just keeps the temperature down. So what you've doubled up?
SPEAKER_02Doubled up, you double double dipping now, double dipping cooler.
SPEAKER_01Double dipping on a third day. So that's what it is, man. Global warming for you. You've got to keep it cool. Yeah, yeah, and ironically, all the power that's used for having two makes it hotter.
SPEAKER_00So it's like a never-ending renewable bio oil. Well, has you got well it's not a diesel generator?
SPEAKER_02You're not hearing the generator in the background of the podcast. You just gotta top it up every now and then.
SPEAKER_01Are there solar panels on the roof?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_01Have you got solar panels? No, we're not allowed. Oh shit, yeah, they're still building. Conservation area.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Anyway, I explains your window sills as well.
SPEAKER_01I was thinking that was gonna come up.
SPEAKER_02I know.
SPEAKER_01They could do with a little clean gold. They could do with a little clean, but I don't want to like rub them too much because they're actually like falling apart. I think we should give the listeners a bit of context to it.
SPEAKER_00Oh wait, could wait, that's a story we could talk about. Is it fucking car crash? Well, it wasn't crash, it means that two things bang into each other.
SPEAKER_01It was almost like I think she hit one of the uh stationary cars.
SPEAKER_02For her to get like that, she must have hit like some sort of antimatter anomaly.
SPEAKER_01I think she hit the um wheel was out uh I mean I mean allegedly. Oh, okay, yeah. This isn't part of the official insurance investigation. I think one of the one of my residents um You're a resident. One of my residents. Sounds like you own the residents. On your estate. I own the street. It's my street. General manager of the response. One of my neighbours, sorry. Yeah. Resident. One of my neighbours. To be fair, there's a fly in your back.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01One of my neighbours always parks really badly. It's alright, she won't listen to this. Which one? Call her out. She won't listen to this. And she parks like way out on the road. Yeah. And I reckon that the red car came up and there's another car coming the wrong way. I reckon she must have been going a bit too fast. Yeah. And she swerved to like try and avoid the other car. IOT was on the way to give birth. Bounced off the tire that was facing outwards. That's the only explanation I can think, and it put it on its side. Yeah. That's the only thing I can think of. I was in bed with Alicia and and um shout out Alicia and and we woke up, it was just like bang. Yeah. And I was like, we both woke up and we looked at each other and we were like, did someone just crash outside the house? And I think she was like, Yeah, I think so. And just lay there for another like 15 seconds and didn't do anything. Yeah. And then we heard like really screaming? Yeah. Shit. She was a bit, she was quite torn up, the girl. Well, and and yeah, she had a three. Understandably. I don't know if we can even put all of this in.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you can. Why is that it's local news? Yeah, but everybody. Because I want to talk about the fucking uh five people that I saw drive down the road closure a minute ago as well. Outside the Chinese. You've got names and number places. So I've written down a number. One of them was a black B and W. Nah, there was a Biffa bin lorry as well that did it. It's terrible stuff. You got they got they got to clean the streets up. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, anyway, that we digress from how you drink it.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, I'm drinking Rolling Hills. Is that what it's called? 4.2. Yeah. Keg beer. 4.2 keg beer. Lovely. Hazy little little cold, little hazy little number. Hazy little number.
SPEAKER_00Summer Valley Brewing. Summer Valley Brewing. Very, very nice. Where are they based? Summer Valley.
SPEAKER_02Where's Summer Valley?
SPEAKER_00It goes to Radstock term right.
SPEAKER_01I think we had this exact conversation.
SPEAKER_00Brilliant stuff. Um, yeah, so getting back to the crash. Well, the crash is sort of incidental. Max sent Ash and I a photo of the crash. Yeah. And we were immediately drawn to the state of his windowsill.
SPEAKER_02And it was someone else that I forwarded the picture to. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So everyone has not noticed a car on its side with a lady to straw and just said, look at that black ass moldy ass window. Moldy ass window.
SPEAKER_01Black ass what?
SPEAKER_02It was black. Yeah. So anyway, um, any carpenters out there that can work on listed windows.
SPEAKER_01They're very old bay windows. And they're rotting. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It happened to the best of us.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But we can't like replace them with plastic windows because it's not allowed. Yeah. But to be fair, I probably couldn't.
SPEAKER_00Stop you cleaning them.
SPEAKER_02The rot set in. Damn. Fucking brain rot. Right.
SPEAKER_00So we do hope the um the um people involved in any incident in Summerton are well and fit now.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, so moving on. What um in terms of beer, Pete, what's happening this evening? Oh, I guess I should ask Sharon. What are we drinking? Oh. What not we've done that. No, what are we drinking later? What's on what's next on the menu? Because I'm getting thirsty.
SPEAKER_04I have been inundated with samples from lots of different brewers this week, the last couple of weeks. But this particular brewer, they're called Tartarus. Um we had a cast from them ages ago called Ratatoska. So I contacted them, and the lovely Jordan, shout out to Jordan from Tartarus, um sent me six samples. And you're gonna be climbing the ladder because the first one is a 4.1.
SPEAKER_01Shout out, Jordan. She was on the way to driving it down.
SPEAKER_02I think she's called Katie Price these days.
SPEAKER_00They found a ratatosca in the car.
SPEAKER_01There's no way to talk. There's a three-year-old.
SPEAKER_02None of this to be used, said it. Shout out, Jordan.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I need three, don't I?
SPEAKER_01Yes, please. So I'm excited about this. I do remember Ratatuska.
SPEAKER_02Starting at 4.1%. That's a nice place to start. Climbing the ladder. How far is it on how high does the ladder go?
SPEAKER_00Probably far enough to clean your windows.
SPEAKER_02How many rungs we how many rungs we talk in tonight as well? Well, six rungs, I think. Oh, that's a heavy, heavy Thursday. Six? Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Have we got six cans, haven't we, Sharon? You got six cans, yeah.
SPEAKER_01We're closing an hour. Closest is four point one.
SPEAKER_04So head the highest is six point two.
SPEAKER_02Oh. Nice.
SPEAKER_04And there's a sour in there as well.
SPEAKER_02Oh, beautiful. Well, so we can do we have to time that at 9 pm exactly for sour hour. On the hour, which can't even be a whole hour because they show it.
SPEAKER_04Right, the first one is called Cactus Cats. It's a gluten-free hazy, hazy pail at 4.1. I'm gonna hand Ash the can because he can describe it.
SPEAKER_02Oh god, there's a lot going on here.
SPEAKER_04Wow. Is that a cactus or is that it looked like it's an octopus? It's a cat. It's a cactus cat.
SPEAKER_02But the actual it's a green cat. There's a cactus in the back. Horse is attached. Um black to match. Um and yeah, he looks kind of possessed, or like maybe like a goddess. Or are they are they hot plants above his head? What's that? Oh, I don't know. Or is that more cactus?
SPEAKER_00Can I just have a look at that?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm not a um herbologist.
SPEAKER_00They look like onions with legs. What's the story with this brewery, Sharon?
SPEAKER_04They're a microbrewery based in Leeds. They've got really high untapped scores for their beers. This one is one of the untapped 3.76.
SPEAKER_00Oh. It's vegan and gluten-free. Oh, we have an email about untapped scores. Oh, do we? We have an email in general, that's exciting. Yeah, this is crazy artwork.
SPEAKER_01We do have a lot to get through.
SPEAKER_00Let's go.
SPEAKER_02Cha the artist.
SPEAKER_00Nice, I like the cactus cat. Let's uh clink and drink. Clink and drink.
SPEAKER_02It smells really nice. I don't know if you smell it yet.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it does smell very fragrant. Oh wow. Winner! That's good. That is very citrusy.
SPEAKER_02It's fruity.
SPEAKER_01It's like very it's like to almost tastes like it's got lemon juice in it. Holy moly.
SPEAKER_02I don't know what you mean. It's kind of got that like you know like the gif lemon juice that you get in the plastic lemon.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, on pancake day.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's got that about it, which is like kind of like it says lazy paleo brewed with wheat and oats for a thick mouthfeel. Dry hop and with citron mosaic for aroma and flavours of citrus. Do you know what I feel like is really interesting is that there's so many that like citrain mosaic are very common hops to brew beer? Together. Yeah, and together. But they all they don't all taste exactly the same.
SPEAKER_00No. That that if you tasted the we've got arbor mosaic on cask, there is a lot of similarities there.
SPEAKER_01Do you think that you're anywhere near being able to like identify hot and do can people do that?
SPEAKER_02Well, they say they can. Yeah. No, but I mean surely they just read the blurb. No, but surely you could do like a blind taste test of like Well, but we could do we should do that then. Yeah, but we can we're not gonna get anywhere fucking near it, it's gonna be pointless.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but that that'll sort of prove the point in a way, wouldn't it? I guess. Unless we just get like professional beer drinkers, if we can't do it, no one can.
SPEAKER_02Did I tell you about the time I want a year supply of coffee beans because I won a coffee cupping competition where you had to match cupping competition. No, cupping. So you know when they like taste coffee or like um score coffee and stuff like that, they have like a bowl where they brew coffee. And they spit it out then. They have a spoon, no, they like slurp it, like they have a slurping spoon. Okay. You can clip that, that's a good one. Yeah. Um yeah, so what I won, but not because I got any of them right, it's because no one got any of them right, and then they drew my name out of a hat. Which like again sort of proves the point.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I can't uh I'm not I've not got a sophisticated enough palette to be able to like people who say, Oh, I like a Centa Million Great, sorry you know, in wine.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, wine's crazy.
SPEAKER_00And uh and how do you know? I see you.
SPEAKER_01One of my friends I met when I was travelling, I went travelling, um Ruben.
SPEAKER_02Already, how many minutes is that?
SPEAKER_01Like twenty five. Um he's training to be like a somelia. Yeah. And he's like he likes reads the books about how to taste wine. Yeah. It's like surely you just taste it and it's almost like someone invented it in the first place, and then it's everyone follows those rules.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I reckon it surely must help. But going back to the hops, back to beer, I think you could you could probably train yourself to be able to be good at it, right? Was that me or was that someone else? Sounds like that grapefruit technique. Um, what was that? That's fucking disgusting. Sorry, uh we have to be a bit more. Anyway, back to the beer. Yeah, beer. Yeah, I reckon you could if you really wanted to, you could train yourself to like guess a hop.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I think you have to be quite sure that. Who cares, man?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, true. Like you'd be like, oh, I'd like to. But I mean, would it help you go into like a uh off license, for example, look at that and be like, oh I but then I think you could just go, oh, I like the one that was had mosaic hops last time. So but they all taste different anyway.
SPEAKER_04I've got a hot book in Neo Coffee.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Do you? For sale or just for personal use.
SPEAKER_04I'm for personal use. So when somebody comes in and say they want a particular hop, and that does happen every now and then.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um, I can look at my book and tell them what beers have got that hot in.
SPEAKER_02Okay, nice. Oh, so you've actually made it?
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_02And you've matched that. Oh, that's interesting. That's good though. But then also I'd like to meet the person who's going into a shopping buying a beer by the hop. Yeah, I feel like it's very pretentious.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but if I went in and I saw a citra beer, I'd go, I'm probably gonna like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, I I feel like I'm more happy-go lucky. I'd be like, oh, I'll try that. Yeah, but you're you're you're very not everyone has your devil made care attitude. Yeah, okay. Yeah, fair enough. I'll take that as a compliment.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, what what hops are they using co op lager? Buggles. Right. Buggles. Right. Are we should we are we um I don't know Hold on, I thought it was gonna be the up. As we've got six beers, we could do two, then we could have a little sort of segment, then do another two, then have another discussion. So should we get the the next beer in? Yeah. If if possible. What's the next beer, Sharon? And are we um I assume we're stacking these? You know what's nice really nice? Because they're all from the same brewer. I feel like this is more like a this is like a Tartarus. It's Glue and Free as well. Did we mention it was Gutenberg? I did mention that, yeah. I'm gonna say it before anyone else does. Do you think the uh do you reckon that artwork is real? I don't want to be that guy, because that's that's and we're gonna get onto this topic in a minute because I've got something lined up for us.
SPEAKER_01Right, that's like this the the societal impact of AI is that we we would never know anymore.
SPEAKER_02Nah. And you're always gonna go, oh, that looks really good but kind of weird. Do you reckon that's AI? Yeah. But there's no like mistakes.
SPEAKER_00Whereas like even Oh, did you hear that hiss? That was number two on the way.
SPEAKER_01Even five years ago, like you would have seen a really cool art and you would have been like, That's just really cool. Yeah. But now you now you're gonna be like So skeptical.
SPEAKER_02Anyone think it's a bit like when I wrote my poem, which again we'll get onto that. And you were like, Oh, is that fucking AI?
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, it may as well be. So number two is capital. Just on one aside, we did have an email, because remember last time you talked about who um who scores more than four on Untapped?
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. So this one this one we just had has got a 3.7 set. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04With 3,166.3 is called Kappa.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Brilliant. Kappa. Who's Kappa? Kappa Holic State.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna have to put a picture up of all these cans, by the way, on the socials because they are wild.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I really like the look of it. Like I said, it w if it wasn't for my um societal tainted AI view, I wouldn't. But I don't believe it is, surely not. I think it looks too good to be AI. So shout out the artist if there is one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, maybe it says I think they'd use artists. I don't I'm not sure they're full for that.
SPEAKER_02But here we go. Design by at FarahArt. Look them up on Instagram.
SPEAKER_00Fart art.
SPEAKER_02Look them up on Instagram so we could even shout them out. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Far far art.
SPEAKER_02Far art with two R's.
SPEAKER_00Hard R. Anyway, before we go on a tour of the National Gallery, can we just have uh or should we just drink and drink?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, go on now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, let's drink and drink.
SPEAKER_02This one looks like left-handed giant yellow.
SPEAKER_01It does look like left-handed giant yellow.
SPEAKER_02It smells like left-handed giant yellow. I want that for my like, I don't know, you know like the new Magnolia Giant Yellow. For my kitchen. Oh, that was a nice sound effect. Oh, that's lovely.
SPEAKER_00I like that. That's that's that's less citrusy than the last.
SPEAKER_02That's unique as well. I was about to say that I've I don't think I've ever tasted that before.
SPEAKER_01Kappa. 4.3%. It looks like Gremlin from uh Gremlins 2.
SPEAKER_00That's the untapped store. Uh because I was just about to read our email from Gregory about the untapped store. Gregory? Yeah. Gregory Oh, I've done it.
SPEAKER_01Where does he live? What's his address? Oh, Tart Tartarus have they have a hundred forty-six thousand ratings.
SPEAKER_02I thought you were gonna say followers.
SPEAKER_01Wow, they do have a lot of they have they're not like small time, they're on they're on smoke, as uh some people would say. They are on smoke. I tell you what is biased, a lot of uh stouts get a very high rating. What's this one called? Is that because the people that drink stouts rate highly or because they're actually I think it's because less people drink stouts and that the people that do rate them and it's always like yeah, I like it.
SPEAKER_02And I've always wondered how much like obviously with it it's the same with maybe any review. But say you've got like 10, 5 stars and one three star, does that knock it down quite a lot? What's well it's an average, isn't it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's an average. So this one's only this one's only got 164 ratings, but it's got a 3.71.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so so higher than the last. Yeah. Yeah. I think I'd agree with that. I think it's more me. The other one's really nice.
SPEAKER_01It's got a bit more oomph to it. It does taste stronger, but it's not that much stronger. I just meant like flavour-wise, but yeah. Yeah, it does taste. I really like that, to be fair. That's really nice. Oh, it looks like the gremlin from Greml the cross-dressing gremlin from Gremlins 2. With the with the hair. How do you know it's cross-dressing?
SPEAKER_02Are all gremlins male?
SPEAKER_01Well, it's the 90s, wasn't it? It's the gremlin.
SPEAKER_02Well, so they didn't hire women for films. It's the gremlin patriarch.
SPEAKER_01They didn't hire female gremlins.
SPEAKER_02Justice for female gremlins.
SPEAKER_01That's not like a gremlin.
SPEAKER_00Oh. I remember that one. You see what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, it's Gremlins 2, a new bunch. Sequels are never as good, are they? No, it's not as good. It's nowhere near the same film.
SPEAKER_01Do you watch that one on Boxing Day?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_01I've actually only seen Gremlins 2 like three times. Whereas I've seen Gremlins like 29 times. She was memorable. Yeah, well. There is the point where the Gremlin sings uh New York. There's a Gremlin. Exactly. Wait, what was this?
SPEAKER_02What was the uh name? It wasn't that one, it was this one. It's the same guy, though, isn't it? Oh, sorry. I thought you meant the beer. Oh, you're looking him up on Instagram. I assume that's his Instagram handle.
SPEAKER_01Farrah Art. Farrah Art, yeah. Wow, some Wow, digital artist and illustrator. Digital. Yeah, we like it. We like it. Digital artist for Tartarus Peers.
SPEAKER_04That's got an untapped. She now I for Warfall.
SPEAKER_01Gaming enthusiastic.
SPEAKER_02But I did say it looked too good to be AI, so um shout out that guy.
SPEAKER_01Wow, yeah, that's him and his wife at Christmas.
SPEAKER_02Do you reckon they watch Gremlins at Christmas as well?
SPEAKER_01I reckon they probably do, to be fair. Oh look, he's these are like the raw ones, like the raw raw dog? Raw like drawings. Who's that? Is that Marcus Rashford? That's racist. Doesn't look anything like Marcus Rashford.
SPEAKER_00I'm looking like looks nothing like Marcus Ratchet, by the way. But do check out his Instagram. What's his Instagram? Farah Art. Like F-A-R-R-E-R A-R-T. Yeah, that and that's an incredible thing. That Sharon will testify to this. Some of the artwork on the cans in the office is incredible, isn't it? Yeah, really, really good. It's like going into an art gallery in there.
SPEAKER_04Surrounded by artwork all day long. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01We're going through his his evolution as an artist, a solid snake. Is that from Mortal Kombat? Yeah, it's from Metal Gear Solid. That's the world. There's Bayonetta, there's Kratos, there's Chun Lee.
SPEAKER_03There's our uh Asuka.
SPEAKER_00For anyone in our target audience, please ignore this segment.
SPEAKER_01Big crush on Asuka from uh Neon Genesis. Where's she from? Evangelian. Neon Genesis Evangelian.
SPEAKER_02Is that a game?
SPEAKER_01It's an anime. I promise I'm not an incel. I've got a girlfriend actually, which leads us on to even though I do say so myself. Our first third. I'm married. I'm leaving.
SPEAKER_02I'm single if anyone wants one number.
SPEAKER_00I'm leaving.
SPEAKER_01I'm leaving the podcast. No, he's not leaving. I'm not leaving the podcast.
SPEAKER_02You just do this is working from home.
SPEAKER_01You could we could do the podcast in my front in my living room. We can have yeah, we could travel to Bristol.
SPEAKER_00Why do we go to Bristol?
SPEAKER_02Well, because he's got all the good beer up there.
SPEAKER_00376. Wait, oh hello. It literally is where do you get all your beer from?
SPEAKER_02Bristol.
SPEAKER_00Bristol.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. The podcast production budget would probably go up by double, to be fair.
SPEAKER_02Because if we have to buy like seven pounds. What do you mean? Oh yeah, true.
SPEAKER_00We can bring cans. I don't think there's a customs checkpoint between here and Bristol. Maybe it's 376 when it gets to Pengeford, gets boarded.
SPEAKER_02We could do cans in Castle Park. Yeah, we could do. We're gonna have to get a generator for that though. We could do them in the flat, yeah. Why would we do that? We need a generator on it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I'm moving to Bristol with um my girlfriend.
SPEAKER_02Aww. He's doing life, guys.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm uh trying to get a real job. This is a real job. I've been looking at I tell you what, there's a job that I'm applying to. Yeah. Um General Manager? Audio grab me a shot. Um audio as a podcast audio engineer for BBC. Wait, really? In Bristol. Whoa, we could borrow the studio, couldn't we? Yeah. Imagine that. Literally imagine that. That'd be crazy. I don't think I have enough.
SPEAKER_00I don't know if I have enough experience for it, but um Well to be fair, you've not mentioned that you do this, have you?
SPEAKER_01You're a show reel, eh? Great. I think I'll mention my degree before I. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. No, no, to be fair, this you've done quite professional work with this. Well I think if you hadn't a lot of it.
SPEAKER_00The only problem is that the BBC won't see what a shambles it is when we do it on a Thursday night and what it ends up on. Well, you could show them the process.
SPEAKER_01Just nothing that will get us cancelled. I don't think yeah, that won't go well for the BBC. No.
SPEAKER_02But that's exciting. Congratulations. So when are you um when are you moving? The 24th now.
SPEAKER_01Of August. After yeah. Monday. Eleven days. Yeah, it's Monday. Wow, okay. Yeah, the podcast will be done, but yeah.
SPEAKER_00Define the vibe. He's a man of action now, he works for the BBC. Yeah. Yeah, he's gotta get shit done.
SPEAKER_02Quick turnaround.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I do need to get it. To be fair, I'm not sure that you'd bars many PBC guidelines. No, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, I don't know, I can clean up. It's not even watershed yet.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, this place shuts half an hour after the watershed. Yeah, boy do we should we we shouldn't even be swearing now? Anyway.
SPEAKER_00Back to the There's one to cross off the thing.
SPEAKER_02We're acting off the agenda. No one's got any questions or anything. What do you what do you want me to ask?
SPEAKER_00Well, I think this is just I I think we should mark it with a another beer. No, uh Best thing you said all night. We're gonna miss we'll miss him, won't we?
SPEAKER_02Oh, definitely, yeah. Yeah, I'm not that far away. Oh I'm I'm opening opening applications for a new beer drinking buddy. Well, you've been coming in on your own, I've heard. Yeah, yeah. That's how desperate I am.
SPEAKER_00Well, I'm always coming on my own. To be fair. To be fair, if you drink on the in the Etsy Marms, you're never on your own.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we were saying that just the other night. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, 100%.
SPEAKER_02It's a very um hospitable environment. Hospit yeah, it's yeah. Supportive and um commun communitative.
SPEAKER_00No, we're all very excited for you, Max. Yeah, and we we're wish you and still come back to the back. Well we wish you, but especially we wish Alicia all the luck in the world. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I don't envy it. I had to share a hostel with you for a few nights. That was bad enough.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. I've got I've got an air purifier. Yeah. You got any window cleaner?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Window framing. It ain't gonna work on a podcast, mate.
SPEAKER_01No, it's not, but I'll just show you how to do it.
SPEAKER_02Don't put your don't delete your address. I'm not gonna leave it.
SPEAKER_01I'm not gonna say the address.
SPEAKER_02Asking for an autograph.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they'll have to walk up three flights of stairs.
SPEAKER_02On to the next beer.
SPEAKER_00So we're can I just while while the next beer's been prepared, can I just read this email from Greg? Yeah, yeah. Because last time we talked about wanting more emails. Uh wanting more emails, but and we got more emails. But he also we talked about no one scores everything over four percent, over four on untapped. Yeah. Well, he's written to us and said my average score, hang on, I can't open my phone at all. It's five. He just rates everything five. Yeah, but that also skews the just high pod people. I like that. Just wanted to say my average untapped score is four point two seven. Right.
SPEAKER_01Is he but I don't get how it was. Is that because he's given some a five and some a four?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But he's not rated. But his average is four point two seven. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And he's rated, if you look him up, he's rated quite a few, I think. Can how many is quite a few? Can we look him up? And and he also says because this person lived with us for a year while his house was being renovated. Okay. So he was part of the tasting process, which evolved testing process which evolved into there. Oh. So he goes on to say it's because I always drank alright beers. Yeah. Because everything I say is it's alright. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02To be fair, there's no point in drinking shit beer.
SPEAKER_00Life's too short. Well we'll get onto that.
SPEAKER_02But I think in some circumstances, shit beer can be elevated to a high level. Well, I think we know when some of those circuits are circuits are.
SPEAKER_00Eclipse. The eclipse. Oh, we had an eclipse, didn't we, people? Yeah, we we all did as a species, did we? Did everyone have that? Well, no, it's only it's only people who are around the line of totality. Oh, well, yeah. What's that above the north in the northern hemisphere? No, it's just where the moon tracks. It was shit to be honest. Thank you.
SPEAKER_01I'll not bother with the next one. What in 2009? 2019.
SPEAKER_02Did you see do you remember the last one? Are you ready for your next beer? 1999.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we're ready for the next beer. 22.
SPEAKER_02Do you remember the last one? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_0099, was it? I was working. What were you doing? You were working. I was stood outside stood outside an office in the oval. Don't look at the sun!
SPEAKER_02Yeah, back then they didn't have any technology to look at it. So they just had to squint. Yeah. Yeah. In the 90s. I think I'd rather go blind. But we had a great we had a great evening though, regardless of how shit the actual eclipse was. It was one of my, you know, one of my best nights in Somerset, to be fair. Wow.
SPEAKER_00Whoa, that's a big start.
SPEAKER_02But we did we did drink a lot of co-op lager.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we did drink a lot.
SPEAKER_02Which is like sometimes it's just about the setting, you know, which is why. In here, right, in this setting now, could that could any of these beers be bad because I'm having such a good time. We thought the world might end when the when the biggest one. I did think it was gonna go actually dark and it didn't. And I thought I was told the birds were gonna stop singing, I thought that the wolves were gonna start howling. Yeah. We'd all start trying to eat each other.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. There'd be a big crack in the floor. Yeah. Crack in the sky.
SPEAKER_02But yeah. But I mean it was smoking crack. Yeah, crack smoke in the air.
SPEAKER_00That's my photo. That's my photo of the eclipse.
SPEAKER_02Also, I was gonna go on to that. Because I didn't have any glasses.
SPEAKER_00You take a photo.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but it'll damage your camera. It's fucking true. It's not true. My camera still works. I I looked it up on ChatGPT earlier because someone at work told me that. And it says that you can damage some phone cameras.
SPEAKER_00We've got another beer coming.
SPEAKER_02Look at that.
SPEAKER_00I've got that one.
SPEAKER_04I can't really hear what any of you are saying because it's quite noisy in the front room at the moment. That's alright. Got a load of fishermen in.
SPEAKER_02We're just talking about the eclipse.
SPEAKER_04Right, the beerwolf is your next one. It's a cherry sour at 4.5%.
SPEAKER_02Here we go. Actually, we'll bang on the five. Koye is on fire. Oh my god, Beowulf. We're bang on time for sour hours. It's sour hour. If you didn't know, every night in the Etsam at 9 pm, it's sour hour. Starting today. I don't think I've had a show. It's really not a thing. It could be. Sour hour. Because I often have a sour like to finish the night. So 9 pm is a good time to thank you, Sharon. To to do so. Cherry. I don't know if I've ever ever have you ever had a cherry one before.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I've definitely had cherry sours before. Have you? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Let's have a clank then. Shall we? Clank. Clanking clanker. 4.5%. I don't reckon it picked that up.
SPEAKER_00Ding ding.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it smells nice.
SPEAKER_00Smells like cherries. I nominate Sharon.
SPEAKER_02I'm not a fan of sources.
SPEAKER_00It's like um it's like, you know when you Well, no, you wouldn't know. In the Alright, don't worry about it. Yeah, don't worry about it. Yeah, fine. Oh, you wouldn't know. Do you know what I'm about um Well, no, you might know because you spend a lot of time reading your parents' drinks cabinet, or your mum's drinks cabinet. We did when he was twelve. Yeah. Were there ever a bowl of a box um a jar of cherries, marinated cherries?
SPEAKER_02No. Well, we had some in here the other day. Yeah, we did the Morello cherries. Yeah, they're the Morello ones. Yeah. But they they used to just be cherries.
SPEAKER_01We never had a box of marinated cherries.
SPEAKER_02I think these guys could turn their sour scale up a bit because this is um they were doing so well with their normal beers. I think frankly, it's a bit of a disappointment. It is a bit. It's just a bit a bit flat in terms of yeah. It's like it's got a somewhat nice flavour, but it's it could be sweeter, I reckon, and it could be more intense on the sour scale. Maybe we do synthesized.
SPEAKER_01I think I'm quite a um No, I just don't think it's very sour. No, it's not sour at all. But then maybe you like that. What's the part of sours you don't like, the fruitiness or the sourness? I just don't like that.
SPEAKER_02It tastes more like a um it tastes more like a fruited beer than a sour. Yeah, it does. You know like a jubilee or whatever they're called. A jubel.
SPEAKER_043.21.2.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02Thank you.
SPEAKER_04Thank you.
SPEAKER_02Um yeah, I just think if that was put up against many other sours that I tasted, it wouldn't do very well. Sour hours cancelled. Yeah, it's sour hours off, actually, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Sour hour has been cancelled.
SPEAKER_02But I think they're they they could just a few more tweaks.
SPEAKER_01Sour hour's been cancelled. I repeat. Sour hour has been cancelled.
SPEAKER_04Right, do you want to skip quickly on to the next one then?
SPEAKER_01We'll get it down. Let's get it down us. So, um so is that all Greg said in his email that his average score was 4.27? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, also because he used to live with us, he got used to the tasting regime that we had at home. When Charon used to bring it. Yeah, so Charon used to bring it home. You record it all six beers. No, we never recorded it, because frankly, it was fairly dull.
SPEAKER_02What are you trying to say?
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna tell Greg he said that. No, but because we would just take a beer and go, like, well, that's all right.
SPEAKER_02I know we do. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's with added bullshit on top.
SPEAKER_02And pizza.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, pizza was lovely. I can't stop thinking about it.
SPEAKER_02Have you finished yours already?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I munched it down, I wolfed it down. You Beowulfed it down. I Beowulfed it down. It's gone down the bottom.
SPEAKER_02What is a bear? What is a Beowulf?
SPEAKER_01Beowulf is a character. Is it you like Viking? It's an ancient Nordic tale.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah. It's a bit like Ratatoska, isn't it? Ratatoska.
SPEAKER_01Uh Beowulf is an old English poet. Yeah. A Ratatoska is a squirrel that wounds up the world tree. Squimwolf. Beowulf is an old English poet. An epic in the tradition of Germanic heroic legend consist consisting of 3,000. Germany. Contained in the Noel Codex. This is one of the most important, most translated works of old English literature. But yeah, thanks for the insight.
SPEAKER_04Are you ready for your next one? We are.
SPEAKER_01Which is a bloke, I think.
SPEAKER_02Do you reckon you'd be disappointed with that beer being named after it?
SPEAKER_04Tanukie might be a bear.
SPEAKER_02Who's that? Wait, isn't that Mario? Isn't there a tanuki Mario?
SPEAKER_04UK N UKI.
SPEAKER_01UKI. Isn't he a beaver? Is he a beaver? He is a Japanese raccoon dog. That's the one. A raccoon dog. Raccoon dog, that sounds cool. Is a real wild animal native to Japan that is deeply famous in Japanese folklore as a magical mysterious shapeshifter. Despite looking like a raccoon, it belongs to the dog family and is closely related to foxes.
SPEAKER_02Wowzers. So we've we we've gone straight into the fives. We've actually added a whole percent to the last one. That's one out of a hundred. Yeah, your tanukis out. Oh my god, what is going on?
SPEAKER_00All the tanukis have fallen up.
SPEAKER_02No, Tanuki is a Mario thing as well, right? You can turn into Tanooka. No, look it up. No. Yeah, because he's got a tail. He's got like a a raccoon tail.
SPEAKER_01Tanookie. Mario's butt plug. Oh yeah, it's felt differently. Oh yeah, when he flies. Yeah. There's an iconic power-up form of Mario.
SPEAKER_02Wow!
SPEAKER_01Have you ever heard my Yoshi impression? I think you have done it before. Have you done it on air before? Let me try let me get it up on the actual sound. Oh, this one's cute.
SPEAKER_00You know he goes like what the raccoon dumps.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Num num. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You're too you're a bit too deep. There you go.
SPEAKER_00And then he goes, Well, this is taking a turn. And then he goes, I'm looking at my script, it doesn't say this here.
SPEAKER_02And he goes, Yeah, that's good. Yeah, that's good. Yeah, fair. Can you lay eggs? Pretty good. Little ripper, we'll miss you. To be fair, we might get Nintendo hate people using their shit. We're gonna get copyright struck to kill. They don't even like people playing their games on YouTube.
SPEAKER_00Do you think that's one of those 625 people who's listened to all the podcasts? He's gonna report us to Nintendo. He's a Nintendo lawyer. He might, yeah. Maybe, yeah, yeah. You never know. I should imagine they have AI doing it now, don't they?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, probably.
SPEAKER_00We'll come on to that.
SPEAKER_02Right, the beer's incoming. Thank you, Sharon.
SPEAKER_00Sharon?
SPEAKER_02Thank you, Sharon. This one looks slightly more lively than the other ones, did.
SPEAKER_01It does.
SPEAKER_02It does. It's got a nice yellow uh hazy colour to it. Double dry hops. Do we all remember what that means? DDH.
SPEAKER_00Nope. They put two lots of dry hops at the end of the brewing process, fermentation process.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00There you go. That.
SPEAKER_02Are they two different types of dry hop? Don't know. How did you get all that info earlier? Did you just scan the QR code? What info? I didn't scan any QR code. Scan the QR code to learn the tail. Oh, I just Googled it. Oh.
SPEAKER_01They're all real, well, not real. They're all myths. Should we have a taste? Right, let's have a click.
SPEAKER_02Oh, it smells a bit funky.
SPEAKER_04This has got an untapped score of um Is this Tanuki?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it is, yeah.
SPEAKER_043.86.
SPEAKER_00Oh, oh, that's high.
SPEAKER_04Um, still not a four though, is it?
SPEAKER_02No. We'll never get there. Have we ever had a four? They don't exist.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we had the um G Guinness. Get four. Yeah. Well, the and what was the other one? The um Duvel, wasn't it?
SPEAKER_03Duvell, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I think this tastes really nice, but the smell puts it.
SPEAKER_01But it's it's it's it's it's like Duvell's got like 40,000 um They're playing a game of basketball. Michael Jordan.
SPEAKER_03LaBrange!
SPEAKER_02Labran James!
SPEAKER_03Pre vampire!
SPEAKER_02I don't know if that's sabotage or not. Or if he's blissfully unfair. I'll just cut the highs out, you know. It does sound like I'm in a fucking gymnasium. That beer's really nice. That beer's really nice, but yeah, it's got a weird smell. You know when you like drink a I think I mentioned this before. When you breathe in when you're like drinking beer.
SPEAKER_00No, um for me. That's I think that's probably below that.
SPEAKER_02Really? I I think it's better than the cactus cat. I don't think it's as good as a kappa, in my opinion.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I agree with Ash. Okay. I stand overruled.
SPEAKER_01It's thick. It is thick. It's like one of them beers you get home and you're like, fuck, you know.
SPEAKER_02If you had a whole can of that, you'd know about it as well, I reckon. Yeah. 5.5. Whoa. I really like these cans. I'd actually think I'd buy these just because I'm that kind of person. Imagine like bringing one of these to around your mate's house.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I'm on my way to becoming an athlete. As I've mentioned in this uh and this one's actually this this next story is um slightly more relevant because it was local. It was the Somerton 10K, my second ever 10K run race I've ever done. How did it go? It it went it went exceptionally well, actually. I exceeded my expectations. Although it was difficult. And um I don't know if uh any of the listeners will remember, but I wrote a poem a long time ago about Oktoberfest. Wait, is this your poem? We're gonna do this now. Yeah, let's do it. Because we have four beers in, we've got two left. Um but what I've done actually, so I only thought about this like ten minutes before the uh the podcast started while um Pete was going to get the pizzas.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So Delicious pizza, by the way. So I've only written a ten-line poem, right? Because it was real quick, just straight off the dome. Yeah, freestyle. But what I've done, I've written one, and then I've also asked ChatGPT to write me, and I give I basically just said, like, whatever I mentioned in the poem, I mentioned make sure you include that, right? Yeah. So that they're as similar as possible.
SPEAKER_01Oh, so you sent your poem to Chat GPT?
SPEAKER_02No, I didn't do that. I just said write me a ten-line poem about the things that I included in mine, which I won't say because it might give it away. Well, when are we? I'm gonna read them both out to you right now. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Have we got to tell which one was Chat GPT? Exactly, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this is the uh game. Human versus AI. Yeah. Is everyone ready?
SPEAKER_02And also it's a bit of a tale of my uh play the um Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Who wants to be a Millionaire music?
SPEAKER_02The thing is, like I don't know which one to read first. Obviously, I'm not gonna tell you which one.
SPEAKER_00Right, you can say pencil tails for Okay, and I'll pick which one's which okay, cool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. Nice.
SPEAKER_00We need a coin. I haven't got a coin.
SPEAKER_01Don't care, Cash. Oh. Uh-oh. What happened then?
SPEAKER_02I think a glass smashed. I've got a coin.
SPEAKER_01That sounded good on the mic, to be fair.
SPEAKER_02Here you go, Pete. I'll let you do the uh honest.
SPEAKER_01Do it does Sharon need some backup?
SPEAKER_02To be fair, while I read this, you'll be able to hear it from over there if you want to go. We can just pause for a minute. All that. So hold right now we're we were never.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02I'm not gonna tell you, but flip the point and just tell me if it's heads or tails. Tails. Right, so the first poem. Are you guys ready? I'm ready. I'm ready. 31st of July at 7 pm. I set off at pace to run another 10.
SPEAKER_01Oh, is this gonna throw your river mock?
SPEAKER_02For fuck's sake. No, it's good. Okay. Do you want me to start again? Yeah, start again. 31st of July at 7 pm. I set off at pace to run another 10. The course is tough with hills and dirt. I'm athletically anxious because my knee hurts. It could not hold me back. I finished the race. I managed to maintain a PB breaking pace. 45 06 was my new fastest time. With more and more training, I shall reach my prime. People run for fun, although some run from fear. I run so I can drink more beer. Wow.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah, nice, nice, nice.
SPEAKER_02Don't clap yet, that might have been the AI one, Sharon.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I reckon that was yours.
SPEAKER_02Okay. And now the next one. Ready for the next one. Which may or may not be mine or the AI one. You've got to guess, this is the game. Yeah. Are you ready? On the 31st of July, I chased the evening sun. Ten kilometers of grit and sweat until the race was won. Ayy. My knee complained with every stride, a stubborn aching beat. Yet somehow I kept moving, refusing to accept defeat. The clock stopped at 45.06, a brand new personal best. Proof that determination can outwork a body under stress. Wow. The heels, the pain, the heavy legs all faded with cheer. And somewhere in my tired mind I thought about a beer. Because of victories. Because some victories aren't measured by a medal at the end. But by crossing the line and knowing you beat the runner you've once been.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's definitely the idea. That is such AI bullshit.
SPEAKER_02It did so well into the last fucking line. You got it right instantly, but it was just so over-convoluted in use more water than Pete's cool. To be fair, I only did mine in like it's not my best work. I could have been more imaginative with my vocabulary. No, but yours is way better. It was more just like, you know, it was more me, wasn't it?
SPEAKER_01Well, you need to be fair, you did it in like ten minutes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, don't worry about it. Anyway, I just need to interrupt because we're at quarter past nine. So I need to shout.
unknownLast orders, please! Last orders! Last orders!
SPEAKER_03Um, are you ready for your next video? We are, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So there you go, you did get it, you got it right instantly. Yeah. That's actually quite reassuring, I think. I think it is as well. You've both still got the human inside of you.
SPEAKER_00The machines haven't taken over yet.
SPEAKER_02Nah, they haven't got soul. They haven't got soul or reality. I hope you enjoyed those at home. So if you yeah, just to clarify, mine was the first one. Nice, well done. Yeah, it was the second one. Good poem. Thanks, mate.
SPEAKER_01And you literally hurt it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. That was part. So I've basically told you the whole story about the 10k within that as anyway. So I've got a new personal best, 45 minutes.
SPEAKER_00And what was nice, he came in the pub afterwards. There were six people who ran it. Yeah. He beaten all of them. Because of his modesty, you didn't mention it at all, did you?
SPEAKER_02No, only I've only stopped talking about it yesterday, I think, probably.
SPEAKER_04Right, are you ready for your next one?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, I'm gonna say.
SPEAKER_04It's called Bugbear. It's a black IPA at six percent with an untapped score of 3.74.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so technically, is that the highest one so far? No, the 3. Yeah, we did have a 3.8. And this is 6.2%.
SPEAKER_02What's this called again, Sharon?
unknownBugbear.
SPEAKER_02Bugbear.
SPEAKER_01Bugbear. Bugbear. Bugbear.
SPEAKER_00What's a bugbear? If if something's annoying you, if something's something that constantly annoys you, that's a bugbear.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, I know I know a couple of those.
SPEAKER_04But a black IPA is like a hybrid.
SPEAKER_02I don't think I've ever had a black IPA. Well, it's sort of a never had a black eyed P. Once you go black, you never go back.
SPEAKER_01Where is the love? Look at this guy. Where's the love?
SPEAKER_02This guy's uh like an anamorphic wolf-looking ass bear motherfucker. What's his name? With an eight pack and and a uh whatever a poldron. The shouldered armour? So yeah, the black this black IPA, it just it's it's not as dark as a stout. It's like a He's already gone for a drink. Oh, sorry. That's what you're ID.
SPEAKER_01He's thirsty. Right. Bugbear is a traditional folkloric folkloric monster. Wait, they're all folklore. Used to frighten children, some similar to a bogeyman. In modern everyday English, the word means a persistent pet peeve of annoyance or source of needless dread. Nice. The term also refers to a large, stealthy goblinoid creature featured prominently in the fantasy role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons. What? That is a hard sentence.
SPEAKER_00It's a broad church, isn't it? A large, stealthy goblinoid creature.
SPEAKER_02Goblinoid! Goblinoid. Wow. Let's see what this goblin tastes like, shall we? Time is against us, because we've got let's get going. Let's clink it. We only got two. This is the penultimate beer.
SPEAKER_01Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_02I like it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I like it. It's weird.
SPEAKER_02Oh, it's it's chocolatey. Oh, it's very chocolatey, I'm getting. No?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I'm getting chocolate.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's like a is it like a light it's like a light stout.
SPEAKER_01It is like a light stout. It's weird.
SPEAKER_02I quite like that. That's really nice. That's better than. That's the very first black IPA that I've I think I've ever tried. Um that I remember. Black IPA. That's a good thing. Wait, that's a good did you make that reference earlier? Yeah, you just ignored it. I thought that was well funny. It would have been funnier if you didn't even say any of it and then just played that. That's hilarious. I got a feeling. I got a bugbear. Woohoo! Oh. I got a feeling that that's a nice beer. Yeah, it's nice.
SPEAKER_01It does actually have like the perfect blend of both flavours.
SPEAKER_02I didn't I on paper I I would be like, is that gonna work? I think it does work. Have you ever had a black IPA before, Pete? Yeah, we have one. We've had one in here. Oh. I must not have come in that week.
SPEAKER_04We've not had a black IPA in cars.
SPEAKER_00Oh I thought we had.
SPEAKER_04We've had black IPAs in in cans. I've got Oregon Trail. I've got that's a black IPA, and then Wookiee did a black IPA called Will I Am? I can't remember. I can't remember.
SPEAKER_01This song is so fucking bad.
SPEAKER_02Nah, it's not.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but let's raise the roof. Woo! I like that though. Imagine if you played it at your party, Pete. We haven't even mentioned your party. We're not gonna have time.
SPEAKER_00No. It was amazing, but he was 60 as well.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Big 6-0. How'd you feel?
SPEAKER_00No different.
SPEAKER_02I'm a little tired.
SPEAKER_00I should pass my bed time. You have had some pizza as well, to be fair.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, that was wonderful.
SPEAKER_00I think it's very nice. That should go top of the shop, I reckon. No. I might agree with him.
SPEAKER_01I might have to overall use it.
SPEAKER_02I reckon it could go two, but I don't I think that still the um I think if we're people's choice, people's choice would be kappa, but was grasped my intrigue and uh attention this evening is the bugbear black IPA, so I'd rather want to put it on top. That's my vote.
SPEAKER_01Locking it in. I think it's a very fine example of a black IPA, whereas the um black IP. What about Fergalicia? Where was the fine? She's the funniest example of a black IP. Yeah, that's true, to be fair. She's not even in it anymore. I don't think anyone is, are they? Nah, they still are. Wait, they're still going. They were looking at me right now. When were they last release music? Uh fuck off. No, no, no. Sorry. Alright, mate. Welcome to Welcome to Popmaster. 2022. They released an album.
SPEAKER_02That's four years ago.
SPEAKER_01Wait, we've still got one more left.
SPEAKER_02We do have one more, one more to go. Quick, we've got five minutes. Yeah, we do. We've never been against the clockwork. We've been we've been waffling.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we're an hour and ten minutes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we've had some good conversations. I think we've done it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, total eclipse of my own. Shit eclipses. Um, waste of time.
SPEAKER_00How's your rock and roll career? I hear you headlined a minor festival. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, it's not a minor festival, is it? I think it's pretty big round in.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there's there's there's bricklayers in that there as well.
SPEAKER_02Bricklayers.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's not just minors.
SPEAKER_02Is that a band? Oh, oh, okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Right, are you ready for your last one?
SPEAKER_01We are, yes. We are, yeah. Thank you, Sharon. We played it, we played at Golden Gathering, my band Eat Mass. Shall we mess? Shall I mess?
SPEAKER_00Um we I thought we had to, we were contractually obliging. Fisherman, Fisherman.
SPEAKER_01Sorry about this one. Biba ba ba boo.
SPEAKER_04Cactus Puma. A gluten-free IPA at 6.2%, and it's got an untapped score of 3.9.
SPEAKER_02That's almost four. Let me look up Cactus Puma. I have got some I've got something that's bothered me with this one. So do these cans not have any sort of they don't have any sort of blur? Can we just see that this is using the same pores and cactus as the cat?
SPEAKER_01Wait, it's coming up with a full puma.
SPEAKER_02Look at these two cans.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. It's got the same fall over.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but look, it's just changed the face.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I don't know how I feel about that. Yeah, that does scream AI to me, to be honest.
SPEAKER_00But we just you just think everything's AI, Pete.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna have to move it right. And it's got a different but I think it's the same picture with a different. Maybe they're just brothers.
SPEAKER_01These two. Yeah. It's the same thing.
SPEAKER_02So we got a cactus cat and a cactus puma.
SPEAKER_01I think he has a style.
SPEAKER_02Far art.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, chat GPT.
SPEAKER_02No, don't do that. Don't do him do it.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, Farrar art. We love your work, even though it's digital. Even though it is AI. The digital No, it's not, I'm joking, sorry. Allegedly.
SPEAKER_02Okay, can I have the cam back again?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, sorry. There's no blurb on it.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, I will. So this is a gluten-free IPA, 6.2%. Sounds good. The beer's been really, really good tonight, I will say.
SPEAKER_01It has all been very good.
SPEAKER_02Um Right. Shall we clink and drink? Yeah, we should. I've not really got much. There's not much of a blurb on the back of these to describe any sort of flavour or hop or what to expect. It's all just have a go, isn't it? It does taste like feet. I don't like that one. You've been sucking some nice toes, huh? Always. It tastes like a nice pedicure butt.
SPEAKER_01I don't like that. It smells it tastes like cheese.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't I think I think it's about that.
SPEAKER_01About a third. I don't I don't know if I like that one as much as anything else.
SPEAKER_02That's interesting. Yeah, I I would yeah, I would say it's not it's not crazy interesting or crazy nice. What percentage is that? Six. Six point two.
SPEAKER_01I almost feel like the uh it doesn't taste like Tanookie was like thicker. It tasted more like Yeah yeah yeah.
SPEAKER_02Tanookie was almost borderline in like like a uh dipper sort of consistency. Yeah. Do you know what I'm saying? Yeah. Yeah. But I I really like that. I think that tasted more powerful than this one. I think this is good.
SPEAKER_00I'd put it third. I'd put it third. I've got um important job to do though now, because it is 9.30 on a Thursday night.
SPEAKER_02Great timing, we've just finished our last last bit.
SPEAKER_01We should have started earlier.
SPEAKER_00I've got a shout!
unknownTime at a bar, thank you! Time at a bar, thank you.
SPEAKER_02There we go. That's all she wrote, but that's all she wrote.
SPEAKER_01So I think we should start at 3pm again. Oh, we got wanked that day. Yeah, as well, didn't we?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and then we kept going. We finished the bloody I to be fair, that was a good day. I wouldn't be opposed to doing a 3 pm one again.
SPEAKER_01I might be working at a BBC.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you're where they get you they give you annual leave, don't he, at the BBC?
SPEAKER_00So this is episode 13, isn't that?
SPEAKER_01Episode 13, it's an unlucky episode. Unlucky episode.
SPEAKER_02Nothing's bad happened yet. Well, apart from that glass being smashed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. My fucking laptop's probably gonna break.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so the files will get corrupted. I'll be mid edit. I'll be mid-edit and it'll just like it could be the lost episode.
SPEAKER_00It doesn't matter because we can uh be using BBC equipment after that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01We could probably use your MacBook to be fair. We could probably use the Offie Mac, but we'd have to buy more dongles. Get your dongle out. Yeah. Well the good thing about this Mac is it's got two fucking two proper USB ports. Yeah. Okay. That's how they don't even have them anymore.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's crazy. So is actually that's a h that's kind of funny. The black IPA is on top.
SPEAKER_00Max isn't happy with that, is he? Well, I'm not unhappy about it. I liked that. Because that's great.
SPEAKER_01Do you want to discuss it, Max, or no? Well, I d I reckon the Tanookie was better than that. That last one. I don't think it was. I can't remember, to be honest.
SPEAKER_02You you should the listeners and viewers shall see this on our socials anyway, the picture that we're about to take. But I'm just gonna go through all six cans for you. Starting from the bottom to the top. Are you ready? Yeah. Yeah. So once again, I'd like to say a big shout out to uh Tartarus. Uh are they called Tartarus Beers or Tartarus Brewery?
SPEAKER_01Tartarus Brewery. From Lee Tars. Oh wait, they are called Tartarus Beers.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they're called Tartarus Beers. Thank you very much for the sa they were samples, weren't they? Yeah. For the samples. We really enjoyed them. We enjoyed looking at the cans, the artist discussion. And honestly, I don't think any of those are bad. I recommend a lot of those to a lot of people.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Really good battery.
SPEAKER_02And also it's a nice thing to have on the shelf. I would is my opinion. So at a bot apart from sour, yeah, you can sack that one off. Um so at the bottom we have the bow wolf bow wolf. Beow wolf cherry sour. Yeah. You've got to look look to the camera. Wait, can I do next up is the cactus cat. After that is the tanuki. Then it's the cactus puma. Then it's the kappa, that that gremlin-ass goblin-looking turtle thing. We like the kappa. We do like the kappa. To be fair, in terms of like general beers, because I wouldn't drink a black IPA every day. And then at the top is the pug bear black IPA. So that's our lineup for this evening.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_02We have been yet some Cascast. Well, alright, we're posing for a photo now.
SPEAKER_00And we're just having our photo taken now. We've had a wonderful evening. Yeah, Tatar Spears. Let him speak then, mate. Tatar Spears, thank you very much. Tatarus. Tartarus. Tartarus, even. Tartarus Spears, thank you very much. We've had a great time this evening. Could be the last time we do this live with Max.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, next next episode, Max will be coming in via Microsoft Teams or Skype.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, I'll come on Skype.
SPEAKER_00Play the Skype Tetris Beers. It's been a blast today. It's been hot, but the beers are keeping us cool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the beers have been keeping us cool.
SPEAKER_00Big thanks to Sharon. Say good night to the people, Sharon.
SPEAKER_02Thank you, Sharon.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, Sharon. Thank you, Sharon. You're welcome. For all our beer knowledge. And remember that the case all these cans will be available in the Etsomoffee. Of course. Oh yeah. And um the great selection of beers in the Etsom Arms. Okay. So, um thank you, Max. Thank you, Ash.
SPEAKER_02I've been Ash, thank you very much, listeners.
SPEAKER_00Thank you. And good night from the Etsom Arms in summertime. See you next time. See you later. Bye
