Welcome back. It's LA Marcese.
SPEAKER_01And Mikey G from Straight Up. Extra Dirty.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. And today do we have our great show for you guys? This is our first beauty segment. I'm super freaking excited, Mikey G. What about you?
SPEAKER_01I mean, I love looking beautiful.
SPEAKER_02Well, of course. And you I love when you try to make me look beautiful. Carl, you don't have to. I think you're too make me.
SPEAKER_01It's just a little polish, you know, that's all.
SPEAKER_02Of course. But we do have a special guest today. Would you like to introduce our special guest?
SPEAKER_01So our special guest today is Beauty by Sherelle. She is a beauty mogul. She is an amazing person and she's fabulous at what she does.
SPEAKER_02She's also my makeup artist that I have been using on the show for the past couple of months, right, Sherelle? Yeah. Oh my god. And I saw her on social media, the people that she she works with, and the what you do with makeup and all that, and I freaking fell in love with her. But Mikey, you have a you have like a history with Sherelle.
SPEAKER_01We got a little bit of history.
SPEAKER_02Tell us about it.
SPEAKER_01Let's talk about uh how we met. We I used to do hair in a salon in uh in East Boka, and um I was a just a little baby hairdresser, and Sherelle came in and asked me to give her some uh a change in her hair. I did her hair years ago. Of course you did her hair, that's why she looks so fabulous.
SPEAKER_02Your freaking Instagram account, what's what's the Instagram handle?
SPEAKER_00Beauty by Sherelle.
SPEAKER_02Beauty by Sherelle on Instagram. When you when I went on there and I saw everybody that you were freaking doing, like first of all, you're doing a lot of celebrities and real, you know, reality stars, and like I was like, holy sh like she's just doing this like amazing work on these people, and I loved your style. So tell us about like tell us about it, tell us about your style. Like, what do you what do you love, like how do you approach somebody like for instance like me, right?
SPEAKER_00I started my brand, Beauty by Sherelle, and it's vegan and cruelty-free. And I started lip glosses, lipsticks, lip liners, powders, and I work with a lot of celebrities, and they found me a lot like you, like through social media or at networking events or word of mouth.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_00So that's how I started, and they just like fell in love with my artistry, and we really like hit it off and bonded.
SPEAKER_01I feel like you have like a signature look, like everybody has like this fabulous totally, totally it's a face by Sherrell.
SPEAKER_02Like it's like Yeah, like you know who the makeup artist was that did your makeup, like that did the makeup. Yeah, and I think that you have a signature look. Do you feel like you do?
SPEAKER_00Yes, so I like a lot of my clients are you know going to very elite events or photo shoots or camera ready. So I like to make them look very polished, elegant, sexy, not too overdone, kind of play up on their natural beauty.
SPEAKER_02Fabulous. Well, would you mind do so full disclosure? Like, we started on my makeup for today, and what we didn't finish was my lips. Yes. So can you give me um, you know, lip filler without the lip filler? Like yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I'm gonna use my products on your lips. So I'm gonna do a lip liner, a liquid lipstick, and a lip gloss.
SPEAKER_02And so tell us about your products though. So what do you what do you have? Just so everybody knows, uh anytime she has done my my makeup, anytime Sherella's done my makeup, I'm like, okay, I need that lipstick, I need that lip liner, I need that color. And and boom, I'm like, I have it. Then I have everybody say to me, Who, where does that lip color come from? Like, where'd you get that lipstick from? And it stays on it like stains. It's freaking fabulous.
SPEAKER_00Long wear, yeah. Oh my god, long wear. And it's not drying because um I have a lot of skincare products in in my brand, so it's not gonna dry your lips out. Oh, I love that.
SPEAKER_02I can't wait to hear more about your brand. But while you finish my makeup with the lips, Mikey G's got so many things to say and question and and talk to you about. So take it away, Mikey G.
SPEAKER_01So tell us about the uh about the lip liners.
SPEAKER_02Okay, good.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, are you fanning yourself? Are you literally having another hot flash again while we're doing the beauty segment?
SPEAKER_02Are you fing kidding me right now?
SPEAKER_01Jeez, with the dim penny peri menopause crap. Like, see, this is why you need.
SPEAKER_00This is why you need my powder. Shut up. Look, we'll just wait.
SPEAKER_01You're gonna fix it up with the powder? Yeah, look. It just takes that. Somebody's gotta do something.
SPEAKER_02It's like he doesn't understand.
SPEAKER_01No. I don't.
SPEAKER_02See, better than somebody get a fan better than ever.
SPEAKER_01Somebody get a fan. Wait, we need another fan. Somebody follow us on on follow us on our social.
SPEAKER_00Can you not listen to him and let's do my lips movies? Yes, yes. Okay, so we're gonna do my lip liner faith. So this one is like a pinky nude. It's so pretty. It's like a mauvey light pinky nude. And I'm just gonna outline your lip with that.
SPEAKER_02Is it everything?
SPEAKER_00Everything. And then I'm I already put a little bit more of this liquid lipstick, gyra.
SPEAKER_01Gyra, where did that name come from?
SPEAKER_02Not what you're thinking.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm actually always thinking about food, so really, where did that name come from?
SPEAKER_00So that's like um very spiritual. It's like Jehovah Gyra. It means like the God, our provider.
SPEAKER_01Wow, cool. Very cool. I mean, it looks absolutely beautiful.
SPEAKER_00And it's like a baby like light pink.
SPEAKER_01It's a baby pink, it's like a nudie baby pink. Yeah, it's absolutely stunning. And then everybody looks fabulous with it on.
SPEAKER_00And then Dubai lip gloss, which I love. And it's gonna hydrate her lip also.
SPEAKER_01Well, the Dubai is literally my favorite on LA. Like, I feel like you use that on another shoot, and I'll never we went out after, and it literally the whole night lasts. The whole night. And I was like, your lips look amazing.
SPEAKER_00It looks juicy, and they give you like the best shiny gloss. They're not sticky, there's no smell to it, and it's very hydrating. It's got um lip oil in it and hyaluronic. I love it. I love this color.
SPEAKER_02I freaking love this color, it's my go-to.
SPEAKER_01Not too peachy, not too pink. It's literally you can wear without it.
SPEAKER_00It makes your eyes really blue.
SPEAKER_02Ooh, I never thought lipstick would exceptionally draw.
SPEAKER_00It's like baby pink. I don't know. It's making your eyes look bright and blue. Yay!
SPEAKER_02That's why I love you.
SPEAKER_00Love you.
SPEAKER_01You're the best. So, what would how would you describe like the most uh recent makeup trends? Do you think that full full glam is like a hit or a miss?
SPEAKER_00Like I feel like full glam is coming back in. I see a lot of the 2016 trends coming back in. So I feel like people want to wear a little more makeup than normal because I know the clean girl look was trending for a long time.
SPEAKER_01Do you think it's not trending anymore? Do you think it's evolved?
SPEAKER_00I think it's pretty and it's good for like people who don't wear a lot and like you know, need a quick out the door look. But I think people are trying to like experiment more with makeup now and do more color, wear more.
SPEAKER_02Is that like the Pamela Anderson thing? You know how she went completely unglam?
SPEAKER_00I know why though.
SPEAKER_02Why?
SPEAKER_00Because she had a makeup artist that she used her whole career, right, and she passed away, so she like vowed to not wear makeup ever again. Oh, fun fact. I mean nobody knew that. Yeah, no, I did not know that. I think that's why she doesn't wear like a lot these days.
SPEAKER_01What do you feel like the biggest trends are right now, like in makeup?
SPEAKER_00Like I feel like people are doing more eyeshadow now. They're playing more with color, they're doing more of a smoky eye instead of just bronzer in the crease.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, do you feel like people still are wearing cream blushes or do you think more powders?
SPEAKER_00I like a mixture. I like um a powder and a cream. I feel like things last longer when you layer them.
SPEAKER_01Right. I mean, I'm layered right now. Do you think baking is still in? I mean, because she got the bake on today.
SPEAKER_00I kind of don't bake. I like will use powders, but like all um, I don't use a lot because you don't want it to sit heavy on the skin. So I kind of just place it in the areas where I want to set the liquid. But I have um a good setting powder that blurs the skin that doesn't make you cakey and it just blurs your entire face.
SPEAKER_01I actually have that product and I can't leave the house without it. It literally gives me that filtered finish without even like without even trying, like literally.
SPEAKER_00You're both wearing it today.
SPEAKER_02Love it. Love it.
SPEAKER_01That's the only way.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. So as far as like with the makeup, right? So for how do you go from daytime to nighttime? You know, can you use the powder in the night in the daytime?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so in the daytime, if you just put on a tinted moisturizer and want to set it with the powder, that would be like a daytime look. Or if you don't want to wear any um foundation or tinted moisturizer and just put a little concealer and just wear the powder alone, it'll just smooth your skin out, neutralize it, but not be heavy for the day. And then nighttime, I like to bring it in my purse. Like if you need a touch up because it doesn't cake, so you could touch up and bring in your purse.
SPEAKER_02So so I have a quick question because this happens to me a lot. So shininess. Yes. Right? So I'm like, somebody once told me, and I'm like, now how am I gonna go into a freaking bathroom and take, you know, this the toilet paper seat tap paper? Yeah, and like blot. And they say that's the best thing to use to blot your flip.
SPEAKER_01Like blotting papers, like basically, but they're from the toilet.
SPEAKER_02It's ass paper.
SPEAKER_01It's ass paper, we're using it.
SPEAKER_02And they say it's the best absorbent of the paper.
SPEAKER_01You don't need it though with this powder though.
SPEAKER_02That's a no, so that's right. So is there any, you know, so obviously if you don't have your, you know, like is that a true that's a beauty trend?
SPEAKER_00Like I've heard, I've heard of it. I personally haven't tried it, but I've heard of it. But with my powder, it's nice because if you do get a little shiny or oily, you could touch up and it builds it up, like, and it won't make you heavy because it's a translucent.
SPEAKER_02Like, look how beautiful Mikey's skin is.
SPEAKER_01Like, look how and if like she's been at the club all night, like and she's feeling a little oily and she wants to dry up, like she's not gonna go into the bathroom and hit the toilet. Because, first of all, that's not sanitary.
SPEAKER_02It all depends on how many TVs.
SPEAKER_01Somebody's got over there, you know. It's straight up. It's straight up.
SPEAKER_02You know, there's been times where I sat in the toilet. It lets sat.
SPEAKER_01Sure, but what about the guy beat? What about the you know, like when you when you when we talk about the guy beat, I've been on the algorithm, like I've been getting he calls it the like guy glam. So basically, when you say beat, it means like somebody beat your face. Like they literally took your face and they beat it and made it look so damn good that it doesn't even look like the same damn face. It's called a beat. Sorry, I almost knocked over my routine.
SPEAKER_02What in that don't you?
SPEAKER_01I got I got super excited. It was almost alcohol abuse up in this baby.
SPEAKER_00Wait, so they call it beat? Yeah, so like um it's funny because I have used some of my products on some guys because um if they're going on a photo shoot, or even if I'm doing a normal client and like the husband has a breakout or something, um, I use my powder to touch them up and like um cover it. Or if they get oily and like they know like they're gonna be in front of a bunch of cameras, they like my powder to like touch their skin up to like make it more matted.
SPEAKER_01I think Right, and guys, guys who are wearing makeup, like just because you're wearing makeup doesn't mean that you look feminine. Right. Like you could be wearing makeup just to like literally elevate the way that you look, period. That's a great point. Or if you want to look bronzy, great point.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, or if you want like bronzy, like if you want like if you you know, your little wash back.
SPEAKER_01Because I was looking like a little peaked she was a little peaked, you know.
SPEAKER_00Had a fun night, so you need bronze back in your skin.
SPEAKER_02It's sort of like it, it's not it's a unif like having makeup on is a universal thing. It shouldn't be just for women. I mean, the same thing like tanning. Guys go and get tanned because they want you know, they want that that extra color. It's the same thing like with the makeup. Like they want that.
SPEAKER_00Well, it's like complexion, they want their skin to look nice. Everyone's speaking of complexion, everyone.
SPEAKER_01When you think about highlighter, do you think highlighter's in or out?
SPEAKER_00Like I love highlighter. Like, I mean, I know it's never been out with.
SPEAKER_01When you get to a certain age, you have to do it. Yeah, but she used to show you. Well, there's a difference between the battery. She said she wanted to bathe in it.
SPEAKER_00I love highlighters. Is it tingle? I want to just put it everywhere.
SPEAKER_01You want it why?
SPEAKER_00Like that, like that J-Lo, like that J-Lo Kim K glow, you know? Like it depends, you're right, it does depend on where you put it, like different ages.
SPEAKER_02I'm not quite sure it's the same.
SPEAKER_01I mean I've used about highlighter just about everywhere. Like on your arms, your legs. I mean she.
SPEAKER_00Oh, on your arms and your face? Yeah, you can put your legs, like like Mariah Carey has how she has like glowy. So, like my favorite products, um, I'll give you some from my line and like some not with my line. So, from my line, my favorite products would definitely be the powder and then the lip products to touch up. And especially if you're not a big makeup person, like I know I'm an artist, so like if you're a day-to-day person, my products are so easy to use, so they're wearable and they work well with other products too. So if you're a natural person and you just wear tinted moisturizer, you could use my powder to set. Um, if you're gonna be aware of it. Which I have, yeah. And you love, and then if you're a natural person, my lip glosses, they're just they have lip oil in it, so they're vegan, they're cruelty-free. So it you don't like because a lot of people are like, Well, I don't wear makeup, I don't know what to do with this stuff. My stuff is like so simple to use, whether you're a pro or you're just using it day to day. So my favorite products would be my lip products, my powders. Um, not in my brand. I do love the Dior foundation stick.
SPEAKER_01I love that foundation stick, it's so good.
SPEAKER_00It's so good, it's so easy to blend out.
SPEAKER_01Like um, drugstore brand.
SPEAKER_00Drugstore brand. My favorite eyebrow pencils, NYX eyebrow pencil.
SPEAKER_01I love that the NYX is really good. You know, I find it really funny because like you can get a designer like makeup, or you could get like a makeup at a drugstore, and it could be just as good. It just depends on like what the product works for you.
SPEAKER_00The ingredients, too. What the what they put in it, yeah. All right, a primer, I like one size blurring primer.
SPEAKER_01So tune into uh our socials, and we want to know from you guys out there what your biggest beauty struggles are. And um, you can ask Sherelle on her socials.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, follow me on Instagram, Beauty by Sherelle, if you're interested in purchasing my products, beauty by charelle.com.
SPEAKER_01Or booking her. You've got a book or yeah, and book me.
SPEAKER_00Where do you ever everywhere wherever you need male?
SPEAKER_01This girl need everybody needs a beauty by Sherelle face. Everybody.
SPEAKER_02And it's it and it's male or female, it doesn't matter. It's like, you know, if you want that that healthy glow, if you you know, just like she said, it's even your skin tone out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, where can we find you, LA?
SPEAKER_02What?
SPEAKER_01Where can we find you on social media?
SPEAKER_02Me? Oh, you can find me at at Lisa Ann Marquise, because LA stands for Lisa Ann. But let me just tell you something really quick though, because this is really important. So about Sherelle and her look, I fell in love with the makeup and the look that you do. I really did. And I think anybody out there that's looking for a makeup artist, for instance, when I had my reality show on TLC, that I had a I wanted to look for a makeup artist that had a look that I wanted on television. And it there is such a thing. Like no two makeup artists are the same. And you can you could tell exactly who my artist was based on my makeup.
SPEAKER_01The way you're looking at the face.
SPEAKER_02Exactly, exactly. So, you know, when I found Sherelle, and then it so happened that you knew each other from way back. That's crazy. It's absolutely insane. It's to me, it's kismet, it's karma. It is, but you know, it's a matter of like if you're out there, her look is amazing, it's a signature look. The products that she has, I have bought every single lipstick she has. You have and every lip line. And then people ask me all the time. So, you know what? I think it's pretty cool. I I love everything about it, and you have a powder. So I don't have to take toilet paper seats. Yeah, don't do that. So thank you very much for making an ass.
SPEAKER_01No more making an ass out of your face. We're done making an ass out of your face.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. You know what's funny? My first my first client was actually a reality star, it was Dolores from the New Jersey Housewives. Yes. And then I did a couple of other housewives, and then I worked with um VH1's mob wives, Renee and Carla, who I Oh, I love those girls.
SPEAKER_02Love them.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I love them so much. We became very close, and yeah, those are like special clients to me. Like that's great. Started it off.
SPEAKER_02And they become friends, right? I mean, it's like you trust, you know, you have to trust who's gonna work on your hair.
SPEAKER_01Anytime that somebody is touching you, it's a very intimate experience.
SPEAKER_02What are you talking about? And I've done stuff.
SPEAKER_01We're actually not getting dirty here because like with the thing is with when Sherelle touches my face, it's absolutely a beautiful experience.
SPEAKER_02It's not just the beautiful face, it's like the whole thing when you look at somebody, what is your like how do you go about it? Do they tell you what they want, or do you tell them because I said to you, you do what you want. You're the you're the artist, because at the end of the day, you are an artist.
SPEAKER_00Oh, thank you so much. Yeah, no, I asked them first because you know, my vision could be different from what they want, and then you know, they'll tell me, and then I'll um collab with what I think is best for them. But normally they do, they're just like, you know, I've seen your work, I kind of want that like look that you always do, like, you know, clean face, contour, bronzy eyes, but like I could do anything. Like I'm diverse. I've done stuff for like um I've done people who are in the New York Post, I've done um for Miami swimsuit designers, magazines, so you've I could do different things.
SPEAKER_01Runway too. You've done the runway stuff. Yes, yeah, that's fabulous. I love that. Yeah, I mean, I feel like I've definitely seen a variety of looks on your, but you still have that signature no matter what the look is.
SPEAKER_02All right, exactly.
SPEAKER_00But I love working with everyone, I could do different ethnicities, different age groups. Like I've been doing makeup for over like a decade now, so I'm very skilled with it. When I first started off doing makeup, I worked at um Nordstrom's at Mac. So like I could sell everything, so I know every brand and like what works best for everybody, and like the products each person likes the most, like the fan favorites. So I like I have a very um my kids are very diverse and luxurious.
SPEAKER_01I mean I have a couple questions for you. Yeah. Is setting spray in or out?
SPEAKER_00I love setting spray. My favorite setting sprays are are gonna be Charlotte Tilbury. Um, one size, like all of his setting sprays are amazing. Um primers are important too, and also setting powders. I think they all go together.
SPEAKER_01I was just gonna ask that. So powders are are just as important. Which one would you say is more important, the setting spray or the powder?
SPEAKER_02Great question, Mike.
SPEAKER_00I think I think they go hand in hand, like makeup and hair. I think you need both.
SPEAKER_01I mean, for me personally, like if I put powder on my face, if I don't set it with the setting spray, it doesn't have the same finish. It's just a lot of things. I agree.
SPEAKER_02Does it change the finish? It does. Yes. Oh, I didn't okay. I mean, I know it's sets.
SPEAKER_01Explain that, like, but I don't know what that means.
SPEAKER_00So, like the Charlotte Tilbury spray, right? To me, that that makes it not look powdery, right? So it takes away the powdery look. Then I'll hit it with the one-size setting spray that sets it, which makes it like not move. Right. Like it will stay on the road.
SPEAKER_01Like, do you think that brows are going in the more thinner direction?
SPEAKER_02Like, I'm looking at my brows when you say that.
SPEAKER_01And what's your what's your opinion on that? Like, do you like a thicker or thinner brow?
SPEAKER_00I mean, I've been seeing like on the trends, like they're going back to like that thinner brow, but I like a I like like a fuller brow and like you know brow gel. Me too.
SPEAKER_01Like a caterpillars, the thicker the better.
SPEAKER_00But I also think it depends on the face.
SPEAKER_02It's like bush or no bush.
SPEAKER_01But well, you're Italian girl, like what can I tell you? Like we're hairy.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, I think it depends on the face. Like, you know, it frames the face, so you it depends.
SPEAKER_01And if they got micro- What do you feel what's what's your what is your opinion on uh what are your what's your opinion on bleached out brows or completely covered or shaved brows?
SPEAKER_00I mean, to each his own. That's not really my like vibe.
SPEAKER_01It's not your brand.
SPEAKER_00But you know, if you're into that. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Alright, so why don't we uh let everyone know exactly where we we can reach you in in case we need to book.
SPEAKER_00So you can follow me on Instagram, BeautyByCherelle, and uh my products and my bookings are on there and also on beautybycherl.com.
SPEAKER_01Amazing.
SPEAKER_02You have got to check my girl out. Like she's the best. We got so many DMs of everybody's like, LA, who's doing your makeup? Oh my god, it looks amazing. Like, holy sh. And I was like, you guys gotta talk to Sherelle. Like, you've gotta talk to my girl.
SPEAKER_01Like, she's like, I mean, people have been telling me you've been looking better. So I'm just saying. Yeah, but I mean before I was like, No, but everybody's been asking about your makeup.
SPEAKER_02But straight up, straight up. When I met Sherelle and I saw what she did, she said to me, first thing she said, is there a look that you want, or do you trust me? And I said, you know what? I even though I don't know you, I trust you because I saw what you did, and I like that look, and I want that look. I want that look. So I trusted you, and I love what you did, and then and you know what? People out there are talking about it, they're talking about you, they're talking about my makeup that you did. So thank you.
SPEAKER_00Thank you.
SPEAKER_02Thank you for all of this. This isn't possible without you. Thank you so thank you. Thank you so much.
SPEAKER_00And you're perfect, you're beautiful, so it's easy to work on you.
