SPEAKER_00

This is your segment. Mikey T got me wet.

SPEAKER_01

Welcome. How he got me in this pool. I brought my friend Pink P sadness in the summer. She got that summertime sadness.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god. I thought you got the flamingo for me.

SPEAKER_01

I did.

SPEAKER_00

What is her name? We need to name her.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. What should we name her?

SPEAKER_00

Her name looks like. Her name looks like her name has got to be like something. Elizabeth.

SPEAKER_01

Elizabeth the Flamingo?

SPEAKER_00

Elizabeth the Flamingo. Because she looks regal. And Elizabeth sounds like a regal name? Or it's Catherine with a C. Not with a K.

SPEAKER_01

It's Catherine with the C. So it is hot.

SPEAKER_00

We are in Florida. We're in Florida.

SPEAKER_01

It's our summertime.

SPEAKER_00

I know.

SPEAKER_01

Welcome to summertime. So what's your summertime plans this year?

SPEAKER_00

Well, hanging out at your place in your pool, no doubt. Enjoying, well, we live in the summertime pretty much all year round.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, in Florida, it's amazing. It's always beautiful here.

SPEAKER_00

I know. But you know what gets me crazy? Let me tell you something. I am a hairdresser extreme. Because the humidity, the sun, the oxidation of my hair, like it's just like I am constantly in your salon because my hair does not like Florida.

SPEAKER_01

No, you know, being in the sun, it definitely oxidizes. I always tell people like the Statue of Liberty would be copper if things didn't oxidize. So that's why your hair always wants to change, also. So you know, so what are the summer hair trends? Let's talk about it.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, well, you tell me because I don't know. I just put my hair up like this, and you look at me and go, what the f LA? What did you do now?

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna tell you that in Florida, like most people, they don't get as many blow dries. So my biggest like styling tip that I could give people is to find a lot of treatments for when you're at the pool and when you're in the beach, you put a treatment in your hair, put it up in a messy bun like this this one over here.

SPEAKER_00

Messy? I just put it in a bunch. Messy. I didn't put it in a messy, but I guess it's a messy bun.

SPEAKER_01

If I were you, I would have like added a treatment into the hair, like while you're in the pool, like while you're in the sun, like and it protects you from being in the ocean and being in the pool. Like so from it damaging your hair.

SPEAKER_00

Like a leave-in conditioner?

SPEAKER_01

No, like a mask, like a like a good mask.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. And what does that do? That protects it from the sun and the salt?

SPEAKER_01

Well, a lot. It depends on the type you get. There are some that have UV protection in them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like you protect your skin, so why wouldn't you protect your color? We want to make sure that color doesn't oxidize.

SPEAKER_00

No, that's true. Just saying. That is absolutely true.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But what about the humidity? Because I I you know me, because you know my hair as well as you know me, and my hair is not happy when the humidity comes in.

SPEAKER_01

So, like what can you do against the humidity?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like what?

SPEAKER_01

Well, if anybody has ever seen the episode of Friends with Monica.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, which one?

SPEAKER_01

The one where she has the they go to the tropics and she has the afro. You didn't see that episode.

SPEAKER_00

No, but I feel like that sometimes. So I think you walk outside and hair pins. And I feel like that, let alone look like that. Oh what I look like.

SPEAKER_01

Well good. Again, the solution is.

SPEAKER_00

There's like certain pieces that turn into like the and listen, there's nothing wrong with an afro look, just so you know.

SPEAKER_01

And there's nothing wrong also with not getting a blow dry. Like, I feel like there's many different things that you can do. You know, you definitely want to protect your hair though before you go in the pool to protect it from salt and chlorine and with all the chemicals that they put in pools, and also even the ocean, like the salt can be pretty much harsh on your hair. It can make your hair look good, but like it's still salty.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I like the beachy look, but then I get like salty and then it gets stiff and like it feels dry and like hard. Well, okay, so I will say that one of the best things that you've done for me, besides a lot, was the keratin treatment.

SPEAKER_01

A keratin in Florida is like a lifesaver.

SPEAKER_00

It is gold, it saves me on time blow drying my hair, or better yet, I don't have to blow dry my hair because I just let it dry.

SPEAKER_01

It protects from you humidity also.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Like that's really gonna protect you from the humidity more than anything.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you know, I was in Tahiti a couple of months ago, earlier this year, and uh you gave me that treatment before I went, and that is known for this humidity for their humidity.

SPEAKER_01

And I In Tahiti, it's humid?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I did not have a bad hair day the entire time I was there. So thank you very much, Mikey G. Because whatever you did made my hair look fabulous.

SPEAKER_01

Fabulous. So yeah, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

What are you guys doing this summer? Any trips planned?

SPEAKER_01

Trips planned. Where am I gonna go when I live here? I mean, look at this.

SPEAKER_00

I agree.

SPEAKER_01

This is amazing. Like, where do you go? Like when you live here. I know. Definitely not anywhere tropical for sure. Like, if I'm gonna visit anywhere, it's probably gonna be a mountain.

SPEAKER_00

Some place cold. Really?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, a mountain. Like you go, like we like to go to Asheville, like in July, because it's really nice. It's like in the 60s in the morning, and by the afternoon, it's like 85. Asheville, North Carolina. North Carolina, yeah. It's like one of my favorite places. Yeah, it's a good spot. What about you? Anywhere especially going back to Italy again?

SPEAKER_00

Maybe in the fall, you never know. I don't know. But I don't know. I did a lot of travel earlier this year. So I've been to Europe now three times in Tahiti in less than six months. Actually, yeah, less in five months I did Italy three times in Tahiti. So it's it's enough. Like I'm I'm okay. I'm fine. I think I might go up to Jersey, see family, some friends, go out to Long Island, go to Hamptons.

SPEAKER_01

Long Island, yeah. I gotta do that.

SPEAKER_00

Like almost like a staycation. As of as opposed to Short Island. You got a birthday coming up too, though. So what do you guys think?

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, this is this year is gonna be 45 and alive.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. We might have a disco party. I don't know. I'm thinking about it. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

I will let my I will let my hair grow afro if that's the case.

SPEAKER_01

Oh really? Oh yeah. You know what I was thinking about? I think I want to put a disco ball above the pool.

SPEAKER_00

I would love that. That would be so much. Put a you know what you could do? You could put a um a dance, uh uh what do you call it? A dance floor. A colored dance floor.

SPEAKER_01

A dance floor.

SPEAKER_00

Right on the pool. Right over the pool. So you're dancing on the pool. Yeah, but what if people want to swim? Well, that's a naked pool party.

SPEAKER_01

No, I didn't say anything about being naked. I just said I just said we're swimming. What's your favorite season?

SPEAKER_00

You know, now that I'm in Florida, it's the winter. I never thought those words would ever come out of my head.

SPEAKER_01

Because winters in Florida are like spring and fall everywhere else.

SPEAKER_00

But I, you know, but when I, you know, growing up in New York, I would say springtime. Like I love, listen, I'm a beach ba I'm a beach bunny. Like I love the beach. Give me a boat, give me the ocean, give me sand, I'm happy. But what about you?

SPEAKER_01

Uh I would definitely say wintered in Florida or like fall or spring anywhere else for sure. I like that temper that mild temperature. Yeah. But I've never experienced a full season because I've lived in in Florida my whole life. So for me, you know, we've pretty much are pretty much always we're either hot or we're comfortable.

SPEAKER_00

I went to the first year here in Florida, I went to Alaska. I'll never forget my cousin Teresa calls me and says, listen, I'm in Vegas. We we both moved out of Long Island. I'm in Vegas, you're in Florida, it's the summertime. You want to go to Alaska? I was like, hell yeah, it's so freaking hot here, and I never in a million years would have ever said yes. It was a it was refreshing, is the word I want to use. Summer? No, in Alaska, meaning like I got out of the humidity and the heat and I went and I enjoyed it.

SPEAKER_01

That's why we like the mountains, because like during summer. It's crisp, it's clean, you get a nice fresh breath of air, especially it's so humid here during summer. Oh my god. Did you ever go to summer camp when you were a kid? So I never went to sleepaway camp, but I went to summer camp, yes. And I loved summer camp when I was a kid. What did you love about it? Well, we used to go to water parks and field trips. Every day was something different. Like you know, I'm sure my mom would have preferred to enjoy it with us, but you know, she had to work, so it was nice. But I it was an opportunity to meet like other kids and hang out and whatever. It's uh I I liked it. I mean, I can't complain about my uh childhood experience with summer camp, that's for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

I went one year. That was it. The rest of the time I worked. But uh I did I learned archery. I learned how to shoot an arrow. Which I don't know, not sure that that's legal. Like when you're underage to be shooting a freaking deadly arrow.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I feel like that's where I learned how to pitch a tent the first time.

SPEAKER_00

I'm not even gonna ask what kind of tent. I don't need to ask because I'm sure I mean it's I think I know at the end of the day.

SPEAKER_01

You know when you're a young boy, you carry your back with your book bag backwards. Like when you're in summer camp, you don't have a backpack, so it's very different.

SPEAKER_00

I think I ruined my whole camp experience, like my whole opportunity to camp. Because when I was in elementary school, I was a brownie, and I am You were a brownie? I was yeah, but I I'm a brownie dropout, I dropped out.

SPEAKER_01

Why? Because you didn't want to sell the cookies, you were like, It wasn't the cookies, I was like, f this.

SPEAKER_00

That's number one. Number two was I'll tell you what the defying moment was. It was okay, we're gonna go on a camping trip. Okay, we know how I feel about camping. And um, this is how you're gonna learn how to eat over um an open flame. And they made us open up a can of beans and put it in this, I'll never forget this cast iron. And it was in my den leader's backyard. Now, mind you, elementary school. I just wanted the uniform, okay? Let me just if I'm gonna keep it real and straight up, I just wanted the damn uniform. I looked cute in it. I've got a lot of people. I could have just went to a costume store. I wanted the whole thing, but I definitely did not want to camp. And they made us open it up, and I took one look at that open flame with the can with the cast iron pot on top of it with the beans, and I said, This is not for me. I was in elementary school. I had to be seven, and I knew right then and there that that was not me. That was not gonna be me. I am a brownie dropout, and I'm proud to state that that's what I am. Now I have nothing I have nothing against Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.

SPEAKER_01

I was a Boy Scout.

SPEAKER_00

You were?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. The cutest one, of course, naturally. Did you love it? Loved it. I mean, my favorite time about being a Boy Scout was like the campfire stories and you know, s'mores around the fire. Do you like marshmallows, like roasting marshmallows? I do.

SPEAKER_00

That I miss. Because we used to go camping as a kid, believe it or not, but not in a tent. Like that my mother had a Mac Daddy freaking two bedrooms.

SPEAKER_01

I had a whole tent experience. We went on this spiritual retreat. We had a whole experience. We went uh camping with uh with a bunch of like our with our church and a bunch of uh it was a youth group camp trip, and we all went, and this is actually a true story because I Well, I would hope so. I did not know that if you drink a lot of Robotusin that you actually get high from it. And I drank a bunch of Robotusin and I was actually tripping, and I didn't know. And I was like on a camping trip with like camp counselors. It wasn't like I was intentionally trying to get high. It's definitely not the place you want to get high, like you know, like when you're with the when you're in church. So like we literally like went and the boys were separate from the girls, but you know, like I was always one of the girls, like I always wanted to hang out with the girls. So we're the girls had separate tents and the boys had separate tents, and I remember as soon as the lights went out, like I snuck out of the tent because I wanted to go hang out out with my girls. We were gonna, you know, braid each other's hair and like and talk scary stories in the tent. Well, I got busted, of course, and I had drank the rubitussin. So the camp counselor actually, the uh the youth instructors thought that I was that I was uh purposely high and purposely in trouble, and um apparently I wasn't the only boy trying to sneak into the female tents. Yeah, but you're the only one not interested in the biggest. We got our parents called, we got our parents called, and our parents had to pick us up from the trip. So it was it was kind of a buzzkill, no pun intended, not knowing that I was buzzed. I went home and then I found out later that like if you drink a whole bottle of rubitussin, then it will get you high. So is that like when disclaimer, do not drink a whole bottle of rubitussin, and that is why they keep it in a case and you have to ask the pharmacist to give it to you.

SPEAKER_00

It's still because of Mikey G. It goes right back to the case. Definitely not my fault. If we're gonna Wikipedia that thing, oh my god. Well, I can't wait to see what this summer is gonna be all about. I mean, this we're in.

SPEAKER_01

It's gonna be hot boy summer, just saying. That's all I'm saying. 45 and alive this year.

SPEAKER_00

I know. I can't wait for that celebration. That's gonna be something else.

SPEAKER_01

It's gonna be epic. Do you think we should do it by the pool?

SPEAKER_00

Or I think we're gonna do it someplace near water and half naked people. That's what I'm thinking would be your ideal birthday bash.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, if I turned around and I looked at this space, I see like half-naked people. I see a stage over a stage over the over the jacuzzi would be fabulous.

SPEAKER_00

Like a dance.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna do like a little dance, like I'll put on a show for you.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Well, maybe for your husband.

SPEAKER_01

No, for all of us, we gotta do straight up.

SPEAKER_00

We'll do it. We'll do it. Alright, well, that wraps up our uh pool talk.

SPEAKER_01

Our summer pool. Can't wait to straw gone.

SPEAKER_00
