Welcome back. We're Nicole and Cherie, and your host of the Twin Cast, where we keep it real about faith, real estate, and leveling up. Nicole, let's go. All right, let's get into it. Okay, so I want to talk to you about being an overcomer. Okay, I'm excited to talk to you about it. I have a scripture that I would like to read to you. It is Jeremiah 29, 11. Now, I know that y'all know this scripture. Y'all have heard it time and time and again. Um, but it's one of my favorite scriptures. It says, I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the Lord. They are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope. I love it. Um, that scripture, you know, if you're a Christian for any amount of time, it seems that you probably have heard that scripture. Um, and it does give you immediate hope, right? Um, and that's important. But the verses before and after that um I do want to mention because um it's important. Um it talks about um that they were going to be waiting for 70 years for that hope to come, for that future to come. So 70 years is a long time, okay? So that's one. Um, and number two, um, the scripture after that, verse 12, it talks about you will find that future uh when you come and seek me. He said, You will seek me and you will find me and you will pray to me. So there's some action items that have to take place. Um so that hope in a future, uh, to be an overcomer as God has called you to be. Uh tell me a little bit about it, Nicole. Well, you know what, it's really been on my heart to speak about being an overcomer because uh as life comes, we have obstacles in our way. Um, and I would definitely say that I've uh been in situations that um obstacles have just came and came and almost knocked me out, but um, or could have. Um, but I would say that God had um given me, gave me a way out and uh prepared me for the uh circumstances and obstacles that came in my way. Uh being a single mom is not easy. I mean, those are I know stretch. It it's tough sometimes. Um but what I know is who I am, who you are. I I know whose I am. Oh, that's the important part. I know who I am and whose I am. Yeah. Um so I know that God has positioned me in a place and a purpose to be an overcomer, to be a light in the dark. Right, to be a testimony. Yeah. I mean, there are a lot of single moms. Um, and it's funny that um in in my profession that uh a lot of times I do run into single moms, and some of my clients have been single moms, and I'm able to say, hey, you can get through it. It's okay. Your kid may be acting up right now. Mine mine is too, or mine has to, whatever the circumstances is, or maybe um, you know, taking them to school is not easy, dropping them off, or maybe they have to ride the bus. Um, but you know what? I'm thankful that God has put me in a position where I'm able to give a testimony to say, you know what? What I prayed for was to have my baby, was to have Abigail. She's 13 now. I I prayed for her, and now I get to take her to school. Now I get to drop her off. Now I get to take her to practices. Um, sometimes the devil will put that, put in my head, hey, you're the only one. You're the only one doing these things. No one else is picking her up, no one else is dropping her off. You have to provide. You have I get to do those things. Amen. I get to do those. God has allowed me the opportunity to provide for my children. To I've I'm blessed to be able to take them to school. That's what you pray for. It's what I prayed for. And the devil will put in your head, you're not good enough, you don't get to do this enough, you don't, whatever the circumstance is, you know what your you know what your giant is. In the Bible, there are so many obstacles. For instance, David and Goliath. Of course. A shepherd boy, a little bitty shepherd boy. He was put in a position to fight a giant. And he and he fought him and he won. He killed the giant with three stones. Actually, I think it was five. But but he did, but he but he did it right. But he didn't look at himself, oh, I'm just the little shepherd boy. I don't have any money. I'm just the giant's so big, he's gonna kill me. No, he went on a purpose. God gave him a mission and he accomplished it because he was an overcomer. He thought about, he knew what he had to do, and he knew that God sent him to do it. Yeah, absolutely. And that's what you have to know. You have to know that God called you to do something. And um, when you can remember that and you can keep that in the back of your mind, uh, that will push you along. That will get you to off your, you know, they say, uh, keep you on your toes, um, life will keep you on your knees. And if you can pray about it, it will it will change things because um prayer changes everything. People people think, um, oh, I'm just gonna pray. Uh just gonna pray? No, you're not just gonna pray. You you're gonna pray. Yeah, if you're just praying, that's the problem. That's the problem. Um, but if you believe that there's power in prayer, that's the difference maker. Um, because prayer changes, it changes things. It changes things, it changes circumstances, it changes um the way uh you know people may be looking at the situation, it may it change your heart. There's so many things that prayer does. Um we're reading a book in our um at our church, uh, Fervent, um, by Priscilla Schreier. And so uh that's a different topic, and we talk about prayer, um, but being an overcomer, uh it, you know, uh all of us need to remember, like you said, it's not what, it's not whose you are. No, it's not who you are, it's who's you are. Yeah, um, we have graduating classes this uh 2026. So graduating students, let's go. Uh parents, y'all have done an amazing job to get your students this far. Uh, what I would say is um people are gonna be asking your children, what are you gonna do after uh high school? Uh, where are you going and what you're doing? Um, I would encourage you to uh prepare them for the answers to that question. If they may not know them right now, but what they do need to know, number one, is who they are and who they are. They need to know who they are. You let them you let them answer that question for you. Go and ask them, hey, who are you? What are you doing? Where are you going? And why are you going? Because life is about to come at them, pretty much. And it's coming, it's coming in hot. It's coming in hot, and you know, as you're sending them to college and preparing them for that, they're gonna be asked that question, and they're not even asked, they're just gonna be tested because as a college student, they're gonna be given opportunities that you know that you're not with them anymore. You're not taking them here and there, they're not answering to you as much. Now it's it's their time. You know, now they're going to have to stand by the faith that they were taught. Um, and they're gonna have to know whose they belong to because that's that's important. They're gonna be able to, they're gonna have to be able to say, hey, I don't do those things because uh my God is different. My God's taught me this is this is not how we act, this is not what we do. We're we're a different people, we're a peculiar people, and this is where um the rubber meets the road. Yeah, rubber is definitely meeting the road. But they're also gonna be placed in situations where they may fail. And that's okay. Yeah. Because if they remember who they are, they'll be able to get up because God is gracious. God, there's plenty of grace, God is his grace is sufficient. So when they do fail, when they do fall, uh let them and remind them that it's okay to fall, but you get back up and you don't do it again. You remember that you can that you can do it, and it's okay. That that's important to me, is that because we we've all been places, done things we shouldn't have done, uh walked into doors we shouldn't have walked into. Absolutely. Um, but God God has uh put it on our heart um and let us and remember and remember that he's gracious and that he will forgive you and just to make better choices next time. Yeah, if they can remember um, you know, that we've all fall fall short, you know, of the glory of God and that there's not anyone perfect, right? Like we all make mistakes all the time. Um, and God is so gracious and he doesn't browbeat us and he doesn't kick us while we're down. Um, you know, sometimes he, you know, he just says, you know what, it's okay. You know, it's okay. Now, sometimes, you know, there's a different answer and you you do have different different um consequences, right? But um it's a learning opportunity. And so uh we don't want to keep them down. We want them to know that they can overcome, they'll just pick themselves up and do do whatever they need to do to get to the next stop, you know, the next place, right? Um, and that's the the encouraging part is that we can, you get to get back up. If you're dead, if you're dead, you can't get back up. But if we're living, if we have breath in our lungs, God's given us opportunity to overcome, right? And Satan can say, while you're down, you just you're not you're not built for this, you know, you're never gonna make it. You're built for it. You're built for it. But God said you were, he said you were fearfully and wonderfully made. You're his handiwork, his masterpiece. So if you can keep these things in your mind, you know, and that's what the Bible says today on think. Yeah, think on these things. Yeah, because you you constantly think of negative, you'll be negative. If you if you think of what it whatsoever is good, a good report, you lovely, pure, you think on these things, that's how you'll start to be. That's what the Bible says. That so a man thinketh, that's who he is. So think about whose you are, yeah. Um, also in that the scripture that we were uh reading, Jeremiah 29, 11, as you were saying that they were um for 70 years. 70 years. That's a long time. It's a lot of time. You gotta put in the time. Sometimes you get it, it's not, it's not immediate. And that's um something that we also should speak to our students and our children is it's not immediate, it's not instant gratification. Um, it's gonna take sometimes a little bit of work, a little bit of time. Uh, little by little, you're gonna be you're gonna be better. You're gonna you gotta start somewhere. Yeah and just starting today and becoming better and better at anything that you're working towards. Um, you're gonna it's gonna take some practice. Any skill that you're trying to um develop. Yeah, any skill that you're trying to develop, it's gonna take some time. You're gonna have to put some work, you're gonna have to put some time into it. Don't stop because you gotta find a skill, you gotta find something that you're good at because that's your testimony. Don't forget your testimony because you gotta find it, you gotta know it, and you gotta be able to be a light in the middle of darkness. Yeah, you got to, because that's what we're called to be, right? Yeah, uh spread the good news wherever you go, spread your testimony, and if you fall, uh you you're not gonna be able to, and you stay down, I should say. If you fall and stay down, you there's no testimony in that. You know, there's so many people um that we've worked with um and we we hear their stories and we're like, golly, that was uh, that's that you know, it's a good story, and they overcome it. They're buying a house or or they're doing just something. Um we hear their children's story, we we see where they're coming from. Like I said, I've I've helped a lot of uh single parents, yeah, and I think, oh my goodness, these they don't even know, they don't even realize how um encouraging they are to me hearing um because sometimes you think, man, I'm the only one. I'm the only one that's the single mom in the story, or I'm the only one. But I realize uh maybe that's God's way of saying, hey, you're not the only one. Look at this person, look at that person. They need to hear your story, and I need to hear theirs because um had they not walked into my office or walked in my path, I wouldn't have been able to tell them, hey, there's more to the story, you got more to say. Um and I and I want to encourage you, you got a giant, someone, someone out there, um, you have a giant, and you need to overcome that giant so you can tell that story to somebody else and say, hey, maybe you're addicted to drugs, maybe you were an alcoholic, maybe you were filling the blank, maybe you were, but you're not anymore. Yeah, you're not anymore. That's what we're focusing it on is you're not anymore. You're an overcomer. You you're more than a conqueror through Christ. Absolutely. And nobody better than the person that's been through it, right? Like I can't relate to a drug addict because I've never done drugs, but the person that has done drugs can can say, I've overcome by this. This is how I done it. You know, there's no better person than the person that's walked through the fire, that's gone through the test of time, that can give you the skills and give you the uh the insight on how do you how do I get from point A to point B. How do I get there? You walk them through it, you hold their hand, you lead them there, you know, and that's what what you need in your life. You need a you need a John and a Peter to hold your hand to walk you through it. Get get you somebody to walk you through the fire, get somebody to help you. Because there's a fourth man in the fire. There's there's a fourth man in the fire. And y'all know our scripture: two is better than one. Because if one falls, I'm gonna get you back up, best friend. We're gonna we're gonna do it. You gotta do it together. You we overcome by each other's testimony. Uh find your story um and be able to uh tell it and spread the good news to someone that needs to hear it. And you don't know who that person is. It could be uh your coworker, it could be the lady at CEFCO and um spreading the good news, it maybe not all the time telling the story, but it's just being nice to someone and saying, Hey, I see you. Uh there's a couple people sometimes I'm at church and um I I'm always going around and we do a meet and greet session. Um some people love it, some people it's a little questionable, but um I actually uh I enjoy it. And um yesterday I was standing in the back of the church and um there was two people that came up to me, and Sister Anna, she came up to me and she said she came and gave me a hug. She's like, What are you doing in the back? And but um I I'm a hugger and I love it. And she came and gave me the biggest hug. And sometimes some people just need a hug. You don't have to tell the story, they just need a hug. Um, so, anyways, I think that our message today is really uh over being being an overcomer, uh, overcoming those obstacles um that the devil may have placed in front of you um and being able to share the good news and a good message to someone that needs to hear it. Just because you are an overcomer. Okay, game. Okay. Well, today if you liked our episode, you can like, share, subscribe. And until next time, keep dreaming big, planning smart, and remember with the right team, you hold the keys.
