I was selling. I was doing a lot of stuff I had no business doing. Um, I mean, and I got busted. And even then, that didn't change. I I I just laid off for a little bit. Yeah, I laid off a little bit, got cooled off, let things die down some, but I still had the old habits. I mean, I had a two-pack a day cigarette habit. I mean, and I st I just kind of I hid it a little better, I guess you should say.
SPEAKER_01Hid the scent.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I I I hid it from everybody else, but God's still seen it. Well, things can't Welcome.
SPEAKER_00This is the Testaments of Faith Podcast. I'm your host, Ray Bradshaw. And have you chosen to listen to the testimonies of our brothers and sisters in Christ. There's no better way to confess your love of Jesus than a testimony of what Christ has done in your life. Welcome to the Testament's Faith Podcast. I'm Ray Bradshaw, and today I'm joined by my good friend and pastor of Ward of Faith Ministries, John Paul Murphy. And this afternoon our guest is John Quinn, also from the World of Faith Ministries in Kenningsville, North Carolina. And John is joined us afternoon to give us his testimony and what the good Lord Jesus Christ has done for him in his life. And then after that, we're going to have a discussion on the Gospel of John. A couple of Sundays ago, he told me that's the book he recommends everybody to start with in the New Testament. And I come home and read it, and I understand why. So we're going to get it from him. With that being said, good evening, gentlemen.
unknownGood evening.
SPEAKER_00Hope y'all was a Billy's fool to mine is. Eating that something greasy seafood. Yeah. It was pretty good, though.
SPEAKER_05Yep.
SPEAKER_00For what it is. Alright, John, whenever you're ready, brother, you can just give us your testimony. Whatever you want to tell us, everybody feel. All right.
SPEAKER_04Well, I'll start out uh with as a as a child, my mother and father told me that I'd be a preacher. And like the woman with the issue of blood, I said within myself, no, I won't. Uh a pastor friend of ours, he was an evangelist, H. Richard Hall, he came and he he told me one night when I was about twelve years old, he said, You'll be a preacher. And like a once again, I was determined in my heart, no, I won't. And I made a beeline the other way. Well one thing went to another and I started hanging with the wrong crowd. I started partying, and you know, I was your typical path they say the preacher's kids are always the worst. I lived up to that motto. It led to drinking, smoking, drugs, and I mean it got worse and worse and you know, and things transpired and I was going down a dark road and I knew I was wrong. People kept telling me I was wrong. But just telling somebody they're wrong, that don't that don't cause them to change. Just telling me I'm wrong, I already know that. Tell me how to change it. Tell me how to fix it. Well went on, I became a banister and a baller. I mean you know, and God looked after me, even though I was being stupid. I mean, like I said, I was I was pretty rough, I was strung out on drugs, borderline alcoholic. I don't know that you wouldn't say I was an alcoholic because I was and I'm I'm not trying to give no praise to what I did because that was you know, here's the thing, it it was killing me. Right. And day I'm I was actually growing. I was selling, I was doing a lot of stuff I had no business doing. Um, I mean, and I got busted. And even then that didn't change. I I I just laid off for a little bit. Yeah, I laid off a little bit, got cooled off and let things die down some, but I still had the old habits. I mean I had a two-pack a day cigarette habit, I mean, and I just kinda I hid it a little better, I guess you should say.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, hid the sin.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I I I hid it from everybody else, but God still seen it. Well, things kept getting progressively worse because here's the thing. It says that the wages of sin is death. And I was heading down the path of death and destruction. And, you know, I've got to I got to the point, yeah, I'm in legal trouble. Um I've had one failed marriage by this time. And um the one I was in, the the second marriage was rough. Stunning. I mean, uh it taught the dog how to bark. It was rough. I mean, it was we were like oil and water, we won't mix it. And it it got to a point me and her had separated, and I was just, I was I was in a low place. I mean, I was in a really bad place. And I was I had made a decision that life wasn't worth living. I was a truck driver and I had decided I was driving feed trucks, and I had decided that I was gonna take my life with that truck. That way people would think it was an accident. I was just gonna I I already I had the tree picked out, I knew where it was. And I'm going down the road and in a place that I didn't normally have service and it was cellular, I was about it was about 4 30, 20 around 4 30 in the morning, maybe might have been five o'clock. And I was going down through there loaded with feet and I could see the tree and my phone and on the other end it was a voice and it was it was my mother. And she said, uh I just the Lord woke me up and I just told you to tell you I love you, thank God. And I missed a tree. I did. I mean I I'm looking at it and I missed a tree. And I'm like, well, doggone. And then I I was sitting there and you know, I just started crying. I'm like, you know, if the Lord knew where I was at, I'm not living right. He loves me enough that he's willing to wake someone up and have them listen and pick up the phone and call me and tell me that life is worth living and that they love me and God loves me. They didn't call me and say you're wrong, you're filthy, son. Right. Cleanse yourself. They they said God loves you. And you know, I I thought about that. Um and then I told God, I said, you know, I said, you know where I'm at? I said, you fix this and change me. And I I made a commitment to God right then. Now I'm not gonna sit here and tell you my life became perfect, and I quit smoking, I quit drinking, I quit everything that day. Because it took time. I mean, God can deliver you right now. I mean that's like but now that takes the Holy Spirit. That quick deliverance, if you want to get delivered right now, you better get the Holy Spirit because your body still wants things, and there's a void. What I couldn't figure out, I was trying to fill a void. There was a void in my life, there was a hole in me that I was trying to fill with alcohol and drugs, and I had gone a long way with caring about what people thought about me. Well, and I lived my life trying to please others, and I realized I wake up and I'm I don't like me anymore because I've tried to please them and I've tried to impress people, and in doing that, I turned my back on God. I've I've gone the wrong way. Here I am about to do something stupid. And you know what? I I prayed. I'm like, Lord, fix me. I don't I don't want to be like this no more. And you know what? He delivered me from care about what people. Right. I mean, now if you don't like me, that's that's and I am an acquired taste. I'm not the same way now too after my accident.
SPEAKER_00I I could care less what you think about.
SPEAKER_04I mean uh I don't paul, I care what he thinks. I mean, sometimes just but I I still tell him like it isn't. He tells me like it is.
SPEAKER_00Well, I mean, we all we all were called to keep each other straight. That's y'all see me going in the wrong direction. I hope y'all say something to me.
SPEAKER_04Well, that that's when things changed in my life was that phone call. And I started serving God, I started seeking God, and what the Bible says, draw nigh to me and I'll draw nigh to you. He is the friend that sticks closer than a brother. He came in and showed me his love, and beating a piece a person up ain't gonna change nothing.
SPEAKER_00I I've noticed them a lot, I've known a lot of people that's either been addicted to drugs or alcohol, or me like just being addicted to money, you get beat up all the time. Instead of like we talked about on Sundays preaching the good news out of that Bible where everybody wants to beat you up with the hell fryer and brimstone. Yeah. It doesn't help. And all and all to me that does, it pushes you away. You crave that addiction even more. Yeah, because you've that's the that's the only satisfaction you can get.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. You've got dogs. Let me ask you this. If when you came home, you beat your dog and you done it every day, what do you think would happen? Don't you think your dog would start running? Yeah. He's gonna hear my truck coming up, he's gonna be in the back of the yard. That's right. You can't, and I'm not saying that people are dogs, I'm saying people are smarter than dogs. That's right. You don't have to beat me but once before I learn that's right.
SPEAKER_00That you cut. But if you keep that if every time I see you that you're handing me about something all the time and berating me and telling me how bad I am.
SPEAKER_03It's called the good news. The Bible's called the good news.
SPEAKER_00It's called the good news. When I see you in the piggly wiggly, I'm gonna go another week.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's called the good news for a reason. It's not called the bad news, it's called the good news. If you're not sharing good news about the Bible, the Bible should lift you up. And anybody that's sharing it should lift you up. So, yeah, go ahead, John. I agree with that 100%.
SPEAKER_04Like I said, I'm uh that's that's my testimony.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I I've been delivered, you know, I mean from going going back on your testimony, or like you're talking about getting the Holy Spirit and being delivered instantly. I think that's good and it can happen, but a lot of times I think people fail when that happens because they don't get in that word and stay in it where if like you you worked through it, you still had those cravings and you you didn't quit everything instantly, and I think this is like working. Your parents buy you a truck, you don't respect it. But when you get out there and work for it and earn it yourself, you respect it more. I mean that's kind of what kind of the way I see that.
SPEAKER_03If the Holy Spirit really lets you go through something, you know, delivers you out of some things, you know, like you know, I asked for deliverance out of things because, you know, you you've heard my testimony, uh, you know, drugs and alcohol, some of the same things because me and John hung out together.
SPEAKER_04So if I was like matter of fact, when he said he got busted, it was the same time. We both got in trouble at the same time.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we now we just work it just as hard for the Lord as we used to work for the devil. I don't need any more.
SPEAKER_04I was good at being a sinner, and now I'm just as good at spreading the gospel as I was back then.
SPEAKER_00I don't need any more bad influences.
SPEAKER_04But uh I mean that that was that's my testimony. I mean, he and you know, here's my thing. If if if he loved me enough, he was willing to do that. And what he done, the re the reason I'm alive today is because of what he done. He had he he he had somebody call me, wake me up and call me. Or what they woke up and call me. If he I owe my life to them. And so therefore I've dedicated and you know when a lot of people don't don't realize another thing, they it takes a relationship.
SPEAKER_05Yep.
SPEAKER_04It's not not religion, it's all about a relationship. A lot of people walk down the aisle and they say a prayer because, like you said, they've had a hell and damnation message scared them into it. It scared them into it. That's a fire insurance prayer. They're trying to just miss the flames. Yeah, well, through a relationship with spending time with him, and and that's like my relationship with my wife. Until I gave our marriage to God, and I said, Lord, I can't fix it, you fix it.
SPEAKER_02There you go.
SPEAKER_04Until I gave up and said, You take care of it. I've learned everything I give to him, he gives it back to me. When you give it to God, he blesses it. Like when the boy gave his lunch to Jesus, Jesus took it. Blessed. Gave thanks for it. Blessed, and look at the multiplication. That's right. I mean, and and my life has been a story of blessing every since I gave it all to him. Yeah. I mean he gave you a house. Yeah. Gave me a house. I'm living in a house I didn't build, eating from well, I cut the grapevines down, but I was eating from a vineyard I didn't plant and a well I didn't dig. I mean, what what he says in his work. And here's the thing, if you'll take that Bible and you'll take that thing serious and you'll read it and use what they gave you in school and what sense you've got in your head and read it literally instead of through a religious doctrine because the Bible says uh there's a scripture in there that says you've made the word of God a no threat, no effect through vain tradition. If you'll take it literally and use it as an instruction book instead of a story, change.
SPEAKER_00Definitely the instruction book to life. After my wreck and laying in that hospital, I told Marie, I said, You gotta bring me a Bible.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I knew what I was getting called to do.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I could just feed that. Yeah. And it was like, no matter what I looked up, take my phone and go to the Bible app, and I'd look up some kind of issue I was having or had in the past or some thought I'd had. Yeah. And then I'd find the verse and I'd open that Bible look, and there it was.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Everything you need. That's what I'm right there in front of us. Yeah. Everything you need. You tell me one situation you're going through. You know, if you listen on this podcast, you tell us one thing you're going through, I can give you chapter and verse exactly how to life and God levels is it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Absolutely. I've I've asked the listeners to drop questions in the comments or send me private messages, but we don't have any yet, but they're coming. Oh, yeah. We're going to start getting come in. We're going to get I mean I know a lot of my followers I do know are believers in Christ, because I know a lot of them. Yeah. But if you got a question, we'll try to answer it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. We want to know what you want to know about.
SPEAKER_00We'd love to share it with you. John, thank you for that testimony, brother. It's a good one. Because I mean, it's I know a lot of people have been down that same road. And like I've said before, I weren't addicted to drugs and alcohol, but I was sure addicted to spending money and doing what I wanted to do. Doing what Ray wanted to do. Doing what Ray wanted to do, because I mean, just like we talked about last week, a week before last, spending that money is like getting high. Yeah, it made you feel good. And get a satisfaction, but then by the time you get home and get buyer's remorse, you hate it, but then the only way to make that make yourself happy is buy something else. Yep. Go to the next thing.
SPEAKER_04That's like I said, the one of the one of the biggest things that I that the Lord got me that I see that He that He delivered me from was the care. The actual care and the stuff. Yeah. Because that's you have people all the time, once you get saved, ask you why. Why you believe that, you know? And they act like you're crazy because you you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I I I believe that too, because looking back on all the stuff that I'd done, and most of it was just trying to impress everybody. But but the Lord. I mean, because my wife didn't care.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00She could care less if I went and bought a Harley or a new truck. As long as I'm with her, that's all she's wanting. She just loves it. And I was doing everything to try to get away and go be with my buddies and look what I got, you know. Well, I like your guns. I like my guns too, and I did tell her it's been about three years since I've bought one. I'm overdue. Been that long. I'll write you a prescription for one. Yeah, I think I need a prescription. Yeah, I appreciate that, bud. Um two Sundays ago we were talking after church about recommending, you know, talking to new people that's coming to Christ or curious. I told you there, I always rec tell everybody to start with the New Testament. That way they get to learn more about Jesus. And then go back and read the Old Testament for like the history lesson and start reading the prophecies.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because I believe if you do read the New Testament first and go back and read the prophecies, it starts hitting you. Wait a minute, they were talking about him four or five hundred years before he was born. And then you told me you recommended the book of John, and we didn't get all into why at the time. But when I came hunting, I started reading the book of John again, and then it hit me. Yeah. I mean it goes straight to the point that Jesus is God, he is the Holy Trinity, and you don't have all the linear stuff attached with it, do you think?
SPEAKER_03It's one of the most powerful books in the Bible. It's very powerful. I mean, it's to me, it's one of the most powerful books. I mean, it's got a lot of John 3.16's one of them. I mean, everybody knows that scripture. And it's just one of the it's a good place to start, especially for a new believer, because it shows through the whole thing that Jesus is is God in the flesh from the very beginning, and it just shows you that.
SPEAKER_04You don't have it don't it don't start out with like you said, the lineage. It starts out Jesus was the word made flesh. Yep. In the beginning was the word, and the word was made flesh and dwelled amongst us.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's proven right there to it.
SPEAKER_04And it just is it goes right to the point, and it don't it don't point to him as a teacher or a rabbi, it points to him as as as God, God in the flesh.
SPEAKER_00In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that just points right to it. I mean it's straight up.
SPEAKER_00Beginning with God, so that's why a lot of people don't understand the Holy Trinity. That right here explains it. Absolutely. He was in the beginning with God. And even back, you know, and and I've had somebody argue with me on some comments in my podcast because if you go back to Genesis, it says we created the heavens and the earth. I mean, all the way back to slow it down one more time, right? Please do. I'll highly recommend that nobody buys iPad case from the fans on. We'll fall. This one this one is getting ready to go back. Give them a good review. No, they're not getting a good review out of me.
SPEAKER_03I help you out. And then but John, John 20, verses 31, but those, but these are written that you may believe. So he's talking about here that this is written that you may believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I mean, it's pretty much pointing to it. Like, hey, this whole book is written. In case you didn't know. In case you didn't know, in case you hadn't caught it by chapter 20 yet, uh, I'm letting you know, and that you may believe, and that you may believe that have life in his name. So it's like showing you that last bit at almost the end of the book of John. I mean, I think it's got twenty one chapters, I'm pretty sure. Yeah, 21. And um, it's sitting there showing you. You that this whole book is written that you believe in Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God, and that you believe that you may have life in His name. So it's showing you not only that Jesus is life, but this book is written so you could have life as well. So I think that's a really important thing for new believers that it's not just written so you can believe, but it's so you can believe that you have life as well. So that's that's the reason, you know, I believe that the book of John is so important because you just get to that one scripture there and it's like, well, okay, this is why, because it's showing you that you can believe in Jesus Christ, he's the Son of God, and believing that you have life too. Because some people don't understand that you have life as well in Christ, because old things are passed away, and oh behold, everything is new.
SPEAKER_00You know, in that before I get berated from many listeners, now I was not talking about God's creation of earth as me and we because all that is God by himself. But verse 26, God said, Let us make man in our image. So that tells you right there it was he was with God in the beginning. As far as that verse from John, that's where I was going with it.
SPEAKER_03I weren't trying to say that God from the beginning, it was another another key scripture for me for a new believer, and I'm I might be cutting in on everybody else talking, but I just had to prove my point even further. John 4 14, he's talking to the woman at the well, and he says, Whoever drinks of the water that I give will never thirst again. So it's showing you there that broken people meet up with Jesus and he transforms them. And so that's the book of John.
SPEAKER_00It shows that people come in, they're broken, they're messed up, but when you come in and you meet me to finish that verse, but the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water, springing up into everlasting life. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It shows you, and that's that's good for a believer. That you know, that's the reason we recommend the book of John. Even if you're a seasoned person that you've been to church for a long time, I would recommend you to go back and read the book of John again because I've read it several times and it's the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me.
SPEAKER_04I mean, it clears up the world's view that there's many ways to heaven. There's only one. No, one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And I my struggle is trying to get people to realize that, and even the ones that don't believe the way we believe.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Trying to convince them that. And even the ones that call themselves Christians, but then they got all these works they have to do and all these prayers they have to say.
SPEAKER_04It's not by works lest any man should boast.
SPEAKER_00That's right.
SPEAKER_04It's all about what he did. What he did on Calvary, what he did on the cross, what he did on the cross of his death, burial, and resurrection. Whenever he said it is finished, he meant you're right because I'm right, and I'll always be right. As long as as long as Jesus is righteous, when God looks at me, he sees Jesus' righteousness, not mine.
SPEAKER_00I mean Yeah, that's why I like you talking about we're talking about the works and stuff. Good James chapter two, verse eighteen. But someone will say, You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. Faith without works is dead.
SPEAKER_04That's right. Uh but a pastor I heard said works without faith will kill you. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Hey, I I can believe that. I I I can see where he can say that he says that. But you know though, what a lot of people I think they take this works though, and think it's more your prayers and your repenting and that kind of stuff, but it's actually what you do out there in public.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You need to go out and witness just to pay and afford and to witness and trying to bring people to Christ. Absolutely. Buying somebody's lunch or buying them a cup of coffee, just being nice to people, being like Jesus.
SPEAKER_04Being Jesus that's what it means, is being like Christ.
SPEAKER_03Goes right along with being the light of the world in John chapter nine. He's talking uh to the blind man, and I am the I am the light of the world, talking about to the blind man. He's like, you know, I'm the light of the world. And you know, Jesus doesn't just forgive, he restores. You know, that's the perfect thing, and it shows you in that whole entire chapter there, not the whole entire, but a good portion of it, that this man comes blind from birth. And Jesus not only did you know his disciples are like, whose sin was it this man or his parents? And Jesus is like, neither one, the man's parents, pants nor sin, or but the works of God should be revealed in him. So he's like, you know, this is we're fixing to show you a miracle here. And he's fixing to show you this. And showing in this for a new believer, it shows you that not only does he save, but he restores everything that's broken in your life. You know, if you get in touch with him, he restores back to you everything that you even came into this world being blind. He's like, you know what, guess what? Once you get a hold of me, like I talked about yesterday, being engrafted in Christ, right? You know, the branch being engrafted in Christ, now it restores everything back to you that was used to be bad. He restores that back to you. So yeah.
SPEAKER_04Well, a lot of people, a lot of people just tell you, like I said earlier, about how you're wrong, but they don't tell you, they fail to tell you the benefits of serving God. Right. What what comes along with it and what as a Christian, what you're entitled to. I mean, and you're like, well, you shouldn't say entitled, but it says that he gave us power to become the sons of God. Okay, well if I'm the if I'm a son of the creator of heaven and earth, and it it says in the Bible, you know, if he wouldn't withhold his only son, he wouldn't hold his only son, then then how much more will he freely give us?
SPEAKER_03All these things. And getting into John Moore as you go on into it, you know. Yeah, that's where I'm headed to right now, chapter 11, if you look right here. I've already flipped to it. And I was like, you know, if that shows you the power that Jesus had over death, over hopeless situations, over impossible situations. So it helps a new believer build up faith, showing them that even though you might think you have an impossible situation, you know, if you get Jesus in the middle of this, it might be like you. You know, they were saying like you supposed to be dead, but you you were in that bed, you were like, give me that Bible. I want to get in touch with the healer, I want to get in touch with God, and as I get in touch with him, I know, and then your speedy recovery, like you just started, you know, it's amazing to see your recovery from being head on into an accident. I shouldn't be walking around. And you're walking around, they're like, you won't be walking around, and then you're like, you're walking around now. And that's like a miracle. That's a miracle. And it's like, you know, I get rejoice every time I see you walking around driving your truck again. I'm just like grinning from ear to ear, like, because he got a hold of you. You know, God got a hold of you. He wasn't using an accident to get a hold of you. The devil comes to steal killing store. We talked about that the other day. But when this happened, God got in there and he's like now restoring you. So that in that chapter, you know, as you're reading through the book of John, you see this miracle of a dead man. And Jesus brings him back to life. So you get to see the restoration in chapter nine, then you get to read on over to 11 and you see an impossible situation. And that's something that a new believer needs to know that there's nothing impossible with God. So he, John's laying this all out for us and showing us that, you know, he's got resurrection power before he was even resurrected.
SPEAKER_00You know, with that being said, because a lot of people, when you try to explain that to people, they were like, well, we already let my mama die. Yeah. And just that no other thing.
SPEAKER_03The devil comes to steal a killing destroyed.
SPEAKER_00That's right. But you know, Jesus calls those home when it's their time.
SPEAKER_03Well, I mean, I don't think people die.
SPEAKER_00On his time. Well, I do his time is what I'm trying to say. I mean, just yeah, I asked him laying in that road down there to please save my life. If it was, you know, if it was his will. I mean, if I want you to please save me, Lord.
SPEAKER_04I mean Well, the Bible plainly tells you his will is with long life, I'll satisfy you with it. And you're promised. Here's the thing, I and this is one of my pet peeps. If I go to a funeral and the person was below 75 years old, and I, or 70 years old, and the preacher gets up there, well, God called him home to say. Hold on.
SPEAKER_03You're talking about a 30-year-old person.
SPEAKER_04You're talking about a 40-year-old man and you're telling me God is the reason he's dead. No, the devil's the reason he's dead because the Bible plainly states that you can live 70 or 80 on your own human strength. Right. And then if you look at Moses, he was 120 years old and his strength was not abated, and his eyesight was not dim when God told him to climb the mountain to where he was going to die.
SPEAKER_03I mean, and uh if he was gonna take you home, I mean, I, you know, I think you ought to just, you know, let don't make me through sickness for you're gonna take me. I mean, I think I serve a good God that's not, you know, if I can point you to scriptures about healing and as many as there is, I think a God wants you to be healed. You know, why would he put so much time and effort into healing scriptures in this world?
SPEAKER_00I truly, truly, truly feel that anybody out there that's fighting any kind of disease, if they'd get in that scripture and get that Holy Spirit in them, oh yeah, they will.
SPEAKER_04I mean, I've told you I have to do it the Bible says that the word is life to those who find it and health to all their flesh. I mean, the word is life. Life. It is. I mean, it it's life. That's like whenever I get up there and preach, I feel the best I've ever felt. I mean, it's like a supernatural You feel like Superman.
SPEAKER_00You burn that energy up, you get hungry, you got good meal of it.
SPEAKER_04You get yeah. You get up there and you get to you, you know, you you get to moving and you feel good.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you know, and I and I tell people about my accident all the time, if they'll take the time to listen to I don't blame God for anything that happened. That that the devil, that guy that hit me, the devil was in him that night. I mean he wasn't. Wasn't he? Wasn't he on drugs or something? He was strung out on something. Of course he didn't get in trouble for anything because he ran and nobody bothered to go after him. But I mean, the devil had him, but the last I heard he had got put himself in rehab and was trying to recover and do better, and I praised Jesus for that. But I mean, the Lord hadn't the only thing the Lord done that night. He got in between me and spiritual lie. He got in between me and the devil. He said, devil, you ain't taking that one. I got I still got work for him.
SPEAKER_03That's right. I've been getting him to do all this camera stuff for all these years, and he didn't know it. He thought he was just doing this stuff. I get I get so tickled about that.
SPEAKER_00Here we are. Here we are doing a podcast. Reaching people in other countries, trying to reach people across the world.
SPEAKER_04We might have tricked Jim to coming down there and running our camera for us everyone.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you didn't trick me. I know I didn't. I've been I've been I've been telling my wife, I was like, we got to get them to go to church. I don't care if it's an hour and fifteen minutes. Yeah. I don't care. Yeah. It's not that bad. No. No. I mean, I can't you know go four or five days a week like I would like to.
SPEAKER_04So we get them gas prices down. They're coming down.
SPEAKER_00If not, God can supernaturally get I know, and I know in my heart of hearts that I mean, just like this building here. I prayed about this building, and there's nothing in this building, nothing that owed any money on. Ain't it nice? Not a dime, nothing. I mean from the camera equipment, the recording equipment, nothing.
SPEAKER_04Well, you know, I was you seen my kennel I'll be. Yeah. I was I was wanting to build that kennel and I was looking to borrow in the money. God spoke to me. He said, just wait. Do it debt free. I'll give you the money to do it. And I'm like, and I went to church that night. It was on a Wednesday night. I said, That's something Mom wanting. I said, God told me to wait and do it debt free. And you know, it was less than three months the money had come in. That just unexpected ways of, I mean, think businesses just started clicking business deals. Next thing I know, I've got the building to see Met put up the kennel. And here's the thing, because I waited, those kennels that I bought to go in there, I bought them on Black Friday sale and saved over $1,500 just on the kennels because I I was obedient and I don't owe no money on that thing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I've got I don't I don't I I've learned since my accident, I don't rush any purchases anymore. We're gonna pray about it, we're gonna talk about it.
SPEAKER_03That's the best thing you can do. I mean, even me and people listening, you know, if like John was saying earlier, give your finances, everything you give to God, he'll multiply it. And when you start praying about decisions, like when I go into a house, you know, I I buy houses. Me and John both do. We're together on it. And when I go in somewhere, I start praying. And if I don't hear something, if I don't have, you know, hear God say, yes, I'm out. I mean, we went and looked at a house and we walked around that thing, and I was like, I just don't have a good feeling about it. And we walked out of it. And then there were some other things. But then if you'll just pay attention to God, you know, praying in the Holy Spirit, just go into something and talk and say, Lord, I need directions on this. God will either give you directions in this word or he'll speak to your heart and he'll let you know what you need to do, especially with finances, because like I say all the time, everything I have is God's. I don't have any money, it's all his anyhow.
SPEAKER_04Here's the thing if it causes stress, then it ain't from God because it says bless us of the Lord, make it rich, and that's wrong sorrow.
SPEAKER_03Adds no sorrow with it. So when you get into it, you know, even when we buy things, it just gives us joy and we have really want to make people mad tell them how blessed you are. Yeah. They get upset. They're blessed. But no, getting back into John, go back to chapter 6, verses 35. I'm the bread of life. So then he says, I'm the light of the world. And John 8, 12, and then he says, I'm the good shepherd. Yep. It says, and that's in John 10, 11. And then John 14, this is one of my favorite, I 14, 6, I am the way, the truth, and the light. So what this is saying is, whatever you need, Jesus has already done it. He's already got it. So that's really good. Keep that one highlighted. Yeah, this is this shows you in this gospel of John for a new believer that whatever you need, I'm the bread of life. You're hungry, you need something, I've got you. Everything you need for life, I've got it. I'm the light of the world. And when I come and live in you, you can light up every dark place. You know, people talk about all the time about devils and things like that. Well, you got to realize you're you got the light of the world living on the inside of you. We are the light. And when you walk around with that light, you got to realize the devil's full of darkness. He's just, and you got the light of the world on the inside of you. If you walk in a room and you turn the light switch on, yeah, darkness leaves.
SPEAKER_04For free. Light always drives out darkness.
SPEAKER_03Right. And then, and then if you need leading, if you need leading, he says, I'm the good shepherd. Just like we were just talking about with your money, with everything you give God, he's showing you that I can lead you, I can guide you. He's a good shepherd. He's not gonna beat you up like we were talking about earlier. And then he says, I'm the way, I'm the truth, and I'm the life. If you need whatever you need, Jesus is already is that. You don't have to search anywhere else for it. Like we were talking about searching for something else. You don't have to search. When you get into this, that's the reason John, my grandparents, me. If you're asking me what you need to read in the Bible, I'm gonna point you to John because I'm gonna tell you everything you need will start you out and your salvation, even if you've been in church for a long time, this will get you a long ways because it shows you who Jesus is. It shows you pretty much everything you need almost is in this one book.
SPEAKER_04It kind of keeps on bowling right there, just past where you're at in John 14. Uh uh right on down, it starts talking about the Holy Spirit. But he says, ask anything in my name, and I will do it. In other words, it all you gotta do is ask. And you if you ask, you'll receive. I mean, it it's yeah, whatever you need, he he's saying I've got. Whatever you need, I've got it.
SPEAKER_00I mean, that's true. So it's just like I was laying in on that route again. I asked. I mean, if I if I am worthy, I said the Lord please. Asking you, shall I receive, seeking you shall find, knocking the door be in Jesus Christ's name, please save my life.
SPEAKER_03And then this is helps all the religious stuff here in John 15. I'm fixing to go into it. I like you know how I feel about religious stuff. I can't I just religious people just make me sometimes want to vomit. When you get you bring religion in, because the way I look at Christianity, it's not religion, it's all about a relationship. And when you start putting all these rules on me that I cannot do this, can't do that, I'm out.
SPEAKER_00I'm out. Before you read that, what I have highlighted in John 15 is verse 12. Okay. This is my commandment that you love one another as I have loved you. He didn't go around preaching hellfire and brimstone on everybody. There you go. Showed them love. He healed. I mean He was He was showing you how to live. Greater love has no one than this. Yeah, this is to lay down one's life for his friends.
SPEAKER_03And that's what shows you relationship. It shows you the relationship.
SPEAKER_04What did Paul say later? He said, I wish that you could understand. He said, I pray that you can understand what is the breadth and the depth and the height of God's love for you. What can separate us from the love of God? It says nothing can separate you from the love. You're the only thing that can separate you from that love, and that's by cho choosing to walk away.
SPEAKER_03John uh 15 verses 5. I am the vine. So that's saying, hey, you're connected to me. When you get there, he said, because you are the branches. And he who abides in me, I abide in him and bears much fruit. I like that, much fruit. That means I'm gonna be producing some good things coming up out of me. I like this last part.
SPEAKER_00For without me, you can do nothing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I like that. But I can do all things. That's the this right here, that this I'm just backing up more of what we've been saying. Yeah, that it shows you relationship over religion, and it shows you that there's a relationship of a believer to Christ, that now you're in Christ Jesus. This just backs up what I was preaching on yesterday. This is a relationship that Jesus lives in you and he loves you, and he wants that relationship with you that you're not some far off. He's like, We're together now. Well, according to according to religion, all we're allowed to do is eat. Yeah, then religion, the only thing you're allowed to do is eat pretty much. And then it's I can't stand it.
SPEAKER_00So I don't go for that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I don't like that.
SPEAKER_00I do like to eat, but I don't like to eat too, but you know, that was another problem I had. Yeah, but there's a thing called gluttony too. Dude, let me tell you something. I was glutton.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm serious. I mean, I was bad. Bad glutton. Matter of fact, that's why I bought that Harley because I lost it. I I said a go, I said, if I lose this weight, I'm gonna buy this Harley.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But I didn't pray about it. Yeah. And I wrote it for a year, and the devil took it away from me. And you know what? I'm glad he did.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because it woke me up. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, wanted to buy another.
SPEAKER_00Nah.
SPEAKER_04Nothing.
SPEAKER_00I got that temptation because my friends over on the end of Harley owners group have asked me to come be like the chaplain for the group. Yeah. But I'm scared if I get back over there.
SPEAKER_03I think I'd be scared of Marie more than anything else. She might be the fool out of here.
SPEAKER_04Just tell her you're going to do it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, good luck. Every time something said to me, Maybe you should go over there and see if you can touch some lives by being the chaplain over there, and she just kind of looks at me like, you're gonna get there and start smelling that leather and looking at that crown. Yeah. And it's just like, you know, if you don't want to drink, you don't get around people who drink. That's right. So if you try if you're trying to get away from something, just don't get around it. Yeah, I love it. I heard and I I'm living with that, 'cause believe me, 'cause that that Harley was like a crack habit to me. I mean, I that's why I live for more than I did the dogs and the hunting, but yeah. Uh That's changed now. I got I got di this is my life now. Absolutely. Spreading the word and get telling the good news of Jesus.
SPEAKER_03And you're doing a good job at it. Well I got some help. Yeah. She said we pit humped he dumped it back together one time. We're not going through it again. She's she's really uh she's protective over you.
SPEAKER_00That's the first thing she told me to ask her to promise. I couldn't even talk yet. She said, please promise me you'll never get on another one. I was just like, Yeah, she You were a thump. She might have held a pillow over your head and smothered some people. She loves you. I'll tell you what she did do, and it makes me cry every time I hear her say it. But two weeks straight, and all she done was sitting there rub my head and preat over me. Yeah. She loves you.
SPEAKER_03You can see the love in it.
SPEAKER_00But she stayed with you. Okay. What we got going on up here? Reconnecting. They better keep recording. Yeah. So don't we got audio?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Let me ask you guys this. There's a question I come up with. How do y'all how would you recognize truth in a noisy world right now? As far as like you hear somebody, we always talk about preaching a false gospel.
SPEAKER_04Well, just because they're screaming it out loud don't mean it deserves an amen. We were talking about that on the way down here. Just because somebody hollers something out loud, you're supposed to check in your spirit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04What what is knowing the Bible is one thing. Because here's the thing. If you're telling me something I don't believe is there, or you're you're manipulating scriptures, that's what the devil done.
SPEAKER_03Right. If you don't want me to check it out myself, you know, they just like, well, you just believe we don't believe that. This is what we believe. Then show me chapter and verse what you're talking about. Like, because I don't like, I don't like you telling me I've just got to believe it.
SPEAKER_04That's like when somebody tells me, well, healing's not for today. Well, show me the cancellation scripture. Right.
SPEAKER_03Please do. So I want to see it because I've read this sucker plenty of times. I know what it says.
SPEAKER_04And it says we have power over every work of the enemy. Well, that was the disciple. Show me where it cancels.
SPEAKER_00I've made it a good habit and know it, because I mean there's a lot of good guys around on YouTube that's trying to spread the word and younger pastors and stuff. But if if it makes me tilt my head a little bit, I go to that book. Yeah. And if I can't find it in that book, then I go check it out. Now it's easy. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_04There's easy to check it because Google Chat GPT asked it.
SPEAKER_00I had a guide the other day. My boy app I'm using. It's got its own little search engine. It's got a search engine.
SPEAKER_04You could even ask it to tell you for something for dummies. Put it plain enough, an idiot could understand it. And I can understand it when I'm saying that. Yeah, that's just come on now.
SPEAKER_03I got the uh I I get when you're talking about people that's preaching in the word today. You know, when I I start listening to somebody and it they're talking about, you know, well, I believe I was listening to this guy and he's very popular. And I like some of the things he says. But he said the other day that, you know, we we pray for people. I said this in church yesterday. We pray for people, and we either believe they're going to get healed immediately when we pray or through medical or when they go to heaven. And I I was like, no, dude. I believe when I lay hands on the sick, they shall be healed. That's what the Bible says. Show me something else. Show me something else.
SPEAKER_04If you can show me something else in here, sometimes God says yes, sometimes God says something else.
SPEAKER_03That makes me mad too. I don't like that. I don't like when they say sometimes God says yes, sometimes God says no, sometimes God says maybe. I'm like, show me where that's at in the Bible. Because you I if I have to fact check everything somebody says, because I I'm very tuned in my ear, and that's the reason it's important to know the Bible too. And I know some of the people that we're talking to right now, you might not know the Bible. But if you kind of, like you said, if it makes you tilt your head a little bit, you better like open that and just not checking out. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Like I said, just because some guy has a suit and he screams it don't mean he knows what he's talking about.
SPEAKER_00No, it really don't. Check that Bible, man. You gotta believe everything you hear on TV or anywhere else. Yeah. If we lost internet connection because my riverside up there has gone haywire. Yeah. Sorry, folks, you might not be getting the last of the video, but we'll have audio. Okay. I don't know what's the camera recording? Yeah, the camera's recording. Okay. I mean, you can always upload it from there. I got one mic right here going to the cameras, maybe it's picking us all three up. All right. That's nice.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Still going.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. All right. Well, we're gonna keep on with it. Nevertheless, we're gonna lift ourselves up. Uh John 14, verses 26 is where I'm headed to. All right. Where John was talking about a while ago. He was mentioning a little bit about the help, the helper. But the helper, the Holy Spirit, who the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things to bring to your remembrance all things that I have said to you. So when you're reading the Bible, that's the reason it's important. Because, you know, Jesus is like, I'm not leaving you alone. Once you get saved, God puts the Holy Spirit inside of you and helps you learn scripture, helps you understand things, and it helps you, you know, it the Bible later on in the books, it says it also quickens your mortal body, you know.
SPEAKER_00I like verse 27 too. Okay. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. Not as the world. Not as the world gives to you. Yeah. Like they were given to me. Yeah. But let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And when you totally commit your life to Jesus Christ, and just like like we said earlier, put it all in God's hands, that's when you really start learning that verse right there.
SPEAKER_03That's I did. And that's what I tell people that tell me all the time they're dealing with depression and stuff like that. I'm like, have you ever read this one right here? You ever read that, read this scripture right here? That you get peace? That's right. You don't have to live in depression. That's not that's not your inheritance. This is your inheritance. Your inheritance is I'm gonna leave you with peace. I'm not gonna leave you as the world does. Let your heart not be troubled, and neither be it let it be afraid. So that's when you know people come to me and talk to me about problems they're having. I'm like, why don't you quote that instead of telling me that you're depressed? Because this right here is for you. This is not giving us the spirit fear.
SPEAKER_04I want to love them.
SPEAKER_00That's what I was getting back to, you know, some of them preachers that want saying this stuff we were just talking about, but you can't really believe them. Or even somebody like that, they're coming to you telling you all these problems, they have not gone to that book first.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And and I don't hurt anybody for not going to the book. I just try to show them because that's my good job as the shepherd, is to show people, hey, this is where this is at, buddy.
SPEAKER_00I say that because I'm the type of person that I want to try to figure out everything for myself.
SPEAKER_03We didn't know that, right?
SPEAKER_00Then if if I still have doubt, then I want to go to an expert.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I know. You know what I'm saying? You like to research everything.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I do. I research everything to death.
SPEAKER_03I know you do. You'll know everything about it. I mean you get done.
SPEAKER_00If it's a microphone, a camera, or a coffee cup, I'm gonna do some research.
SPEAKER_03You're gonna know everything about it, time of stuff. That's right. And that's a good thing. But you're now they finally researching the right stuff. Yeah. The Bible.
SPEAKER_00And I'm now I'm doing the right kind of sales, trying to sell some Jesus.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And it's easy. It really is. I mean, if because if you get in the book of John, it's easy. If you're new in the faith, start in the book of John. I mean, I can sell you that today.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm gonna I'm I'm I'm gonna truly start telling everybody that myself because I've like I said earlier, I've always said just start with the New Testament.
SPEAKER_04Well, if you read start reading the rest of them, that other stuff, it it'll you you'll be like, I don't understand why we're telling me all of this. Right, dog of baguette.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean why I mean I mean it that's it's important for historical reasons. Yeah. But to get to the to get to the meat of the situation, go straight to John. You're learning that Jesus is God. I mean it's all right there.
SPEAKER_04That's like it's important to know about the Old Testament, about the law, about the stuff in the Old Testament, about what God because here's the thing, Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, but all of the blessings that are in the Old Testament, all of them are still effective today, like tithing, the law of sowing and reaping. Um, we've been made the seed of Abraham, it says it in the Bible, through what Christ did. Well, as seed of, that means we're heir according to the promise. Well, don't you want to know what you're an heir of? I mean, if somebody left me a will and they left me something in their wheel, I would want to know what I was entitled to. I would want to know what in that will belonged to me. Because I'm the type of person I'm gonna take what's mine. I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm, I want it all. Whatever's mine, I'm gonna take it. And you better not try and take it, because if if you cry and come and take it, you're gonna have a fight on your hand.
SPEAKER_03Right. We're gonna go back to 1 John, the first chapter in John. I gotta go back in there. Verses 12. This just shows that, but as many uh as received him to them, he gave them the right to become children of God. So that's why it's important to start reading this because then you realize who you are in Christ. And if you don't know who you are in Christ, you're gonna walk around wondering. You're gonna walk around defeated, you're gonna realize that you've not been in Christ, but then it says, even those who believe in his name, who were born again, not of blood, not of the will of the flesh, nor the will of man, but of God. So it shows you that you didn't earn it, you just receive it. Received it, yeah. You don't have to work to get this once you ask Jesus to come in your life. So that's so important for somebody that's just getting started to read this, or even if you've been in church for a long time and you've heard some messages that just make you feel like you're not good enough, read verse 12. But as many received them, he gave them the right to become children of God. So Jesus came to give you the right to be a child of God, even those who believe in his name, though he were born not of blood, nor of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. I don't know how much planner you can get than that is saying you're a child of God. You didn't have to earn it, you didn't have to be born into a certain family, you didn't have to do anything that you know is not this certain tribe of you know, it's not a certain tribe, it's not a certain thing. It's like anyone that believes in his name. Anyone and that's that gives that to you in the book of John. So that's pointing to it again. I'm gonna keep on pointing to it.
SPEAKER_04They they relate strongly to what we're talking about.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. So it shows you in John who Jesus is. It's writing so that you would believe it. Salvation is simple. Jesus meets people where they are, it shows you relationship over religion, and the Holy Spirit helps you live it out. That's the whole summary of the book of John. That's the point that, you know, I was studying this last night after you got up with me, and I started just reading all this, and like, you know, I read through I don't know how many chapters in the book of John and was just sitting there reading this and studying it because I was like, you know what, you know, I knew a lot of it. I just wanted to have all these scriptures ready because it shows the points to fact of how much this book is so important to a new believer, to anyone. I mean, I read it last night. I read a bunch of chapters last night in the book of John, you know, to get ready.
SPEAKER_04If you go on into chapter, I think it's sixteen, uh, where Jesus Jesus said that it is better for you that I go. Because if I go, uh I what is it?
SPEAKER_03Sixteen.
SPEAKER_00But these things that I've told you that I told them Yeah, sixteen five through eight there he talks about unless I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the helper will not come to you, but if I depart, I will send him to you.
SPEAKER_04That helper that's to lead you and guide you in all truth. And you know, that that was what I was talking about, the Holy Spirit. If the Holy Spirit comes in, yeah, he There's nothing the devil's done that God can't turn around in an instant. I mean, nothing. I mean, and you get these things in Acts that talks about you'll receive power after the Holy Spirit has come upon you to be my witness. You know, Peter, right there uh in the end of in the end of John, he denies Jesus. Yeah. Well, ain't far down the road you see him in Acts, he's got the Holy Ghost. Jesus, you know, Jesus didn't do no miracles until he got the Holy Ghost. Yeah. Until the Holy Ghost came on him. He never done no miracle. Well, then you look in the same Peter that denied Jesus a couple chapters later in Acts. He's he's preaching to 3,000 people and getting saved. I mean, I'm sure there was more than 3,000, because 3,000 got saved. Right. I mean, now you talk about you think me and John Paul's long-winded. This man preached until the boy fell asleep, fell out the window and died. He went over there, grabbed him, put him back in the window seat, come back. That's right. Peter could be 2,356. I mean, that's how Peter was. I mean, he just went right by preaching.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's a good one.
SPEAKER_04But you'll receive power after the Holy Ghost comes on you. Well, he gave the disciples instructions. He said, Go and wait for the Holy Spirit. Don't go do anything until he comes on you, because that's where your power's gonna come from. To your what how was it it said, you're endured with power from on high. And that power is to be a witness, it gives you a boldness. That the Holy Spirit does. Well, that it makes things come to life for you. And a lot of churches, and that's you know, John Wesley, he started the Methodist church, started 800 churches on horseback, between seven and eight hundred horse on horseback. Horse died between meetings. He commanded the horse to come back to life and rode him to the next meeting. I mean, he he was in a move of the Holy Ghost. Yeah. I mean, that was that was where that started, and now if you look, a lot of them's putting up a rainbow flag. Like, what in the world? You're like You lost it. You lost it. And I'm I'm like, nah, the Bible says that that's an abomination. It's an abomination. But the Bible says it, it's still one. I mean, you can't change, the Bible doesn't change just you can't you can't take that and say, Well, this is what I think it means. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You need to read it verbatim and quit taking it out of context. They obviously ain't read it, but I'm sorry, and I know some pastors that preach that crap that you're talking about and will marry them and uh. Well, if you hear me say that, slap me. 'Cause I've lost my mind. Hey, I'm sorry. Matter of fact, I heard a good story the other day. I was watching a guy. I'm trying to make the pastor's name, but he he's another one in kind of like Cliff. It weren't Cliff. But he goes around to colleges and stuff like that, and a guy got up and told him he said, Um this is going back to the old testament on divorce and all that stuff. That his brother committed adultery against his wife. Well they got divorced. Well, then he wanted to marry the woman that he's committing adultery with, so he asked his brother to be as best man as wedding. His brother said, I am not gonna be no part of that wedding. Because you are sinning. And that guy said, You're right. And he didn't. He said, he said, my brother still met me today because I wouldn't go to that wedding. He said, I go to I went to the after the reception. He said, I will not be no part of that.
SPEAKER_04I'm just gonna tell you, if somebody asked me to be a best man twice, I'm gonna stand up, and that's gonna be the last time they asked me because it'd be toast. I'm gonna be like, I hope this one goes better than the last one, guys.
SPEAKER_00I made that joke on my mother's fourth wedding. I hope this one goes better than the last one. I stood up and made a toast. I can I ain't gonna say I probably was not inebriated a little bit. Then I said, I've been to four of these. This is my last one. This is my last one. This is gonna be my last one. Did you call her for marital advice?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_00No, that's probably not. Hey, me and my you know what? And I I love both of my parents. Yeah. My daddy's married three times, my mom was married four. And but they finally, the last ones, they finally found the right ones.
SPEAKER_04Have you ever noticed those people that have that have been married three or four times always wanting to give you marital advice?
SPEAKER_00Right. Well, you know what? My wife and myself have been married this July the fourth will be 33 years.
SPEAKER_03That's great.
SPEAKER_00My grandparents are the only ones that ever went longer than that. Yeah. But you know, mama and daddy and aunts. Well, I do I think I do have one uncle that's li him and his wife still married reasonable wife. But other than that, everybody's been my brother and his my brother and his wife, they're still married. They've been married a while. But my sister, she's been married three times.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it's like I try I try to learn from examples. Especially bad ones.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, especially bad. If I see you failing financially, I'm not gonna ask you for financially.
SPEAKER_00I don't know how long we've been going my app field that we record on, but one of them says we're still recording, but I couldn't tell you. I know it's been it's close to an hour. Yeah. But I mean I'm enjoying it, so I mean, if you got anything else, we'll keep going.
SPEAKER_03I've covered my scriptures out of the book of John that I wanted to cover. I mean, the only one I didn't cover is the one that I thought you were gonna cover.
SPEAKER_00Well, I'm gonna read that one less. That's okay. Well, actually, I mean that's I got quite a bit to read there. I'm gonna read 16 through 21. Let it rip. Because everybody John, you got anything else you want to add?
SPEAKER_04I don't think. I mean, I I think we pretty well covered I mean the most of it. I mean that like I said, the biggest the biggest way to tell what you were talking about about the if somebody's right or wrong is really through the Holy Spirit. I mean, that's that pretty much tells me, but you know that and that's actually one of the the gifts of the Spirit is discerning the Spirit.
SPEAKER_00So I mean like you said earlier, if you read that Bible and learn and and try to rememorize it the best you can. What if you i and you don't have to remember it verbatim word for word, but you'll hear somebody say something and you'll be like, wait a minute, I don't know if that's quite right. And you can find it in. Or or if you have that doubt that they said it wrong, but you can always go find it. And maybe you find out that they did say it right. Because you know, everybody's not gonna learn that word for word. I mean, I don't know what word for word. The devil knows scripture. But uh yeah, he does. And the devil's in church every Sunday. People don't want to believe that, but he is. That's like how did Jesus defeat the enemy? Right.
SPEAKER_03It is written. That's right. For it is written. That's right. It is written.
SPEAKER_04For it is written. And that's the thing. If you don't know what's written, how you gonna say it is written? The devil didn't come up to Eve and strangle her and force to apple in her mouth.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_04Lies, deception, lies and deceit. And that that's still what he's using today. And in a lot of churches, that is going on to keep the people bound. Here's the thing the church is not supposed to give you enough faith to get you from one service to the next service. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. Well, church is supposed to be designed to lift you up, empower you. That's why it's so important that you go. I mean, I can I can get the Holy Spirit and I can have the presence of God right there in my living room.
SPEAKER_00I believe that too, but on top of that, I feel like when I go to church, I'm going to learn. Get equipped.
SPEAKER_03The Bible says to get equipped.
SPEAKER_00It says equipped yourself up. That's right. And we're all called to be disciples of Christ.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And you need to get that equipment so you can go out and go to work. I mean, if we're going to go to work on a house, I'm not going to leave my tool trailer at the house and just go show up at the house with no tools.
SPEAKER_00On Sunday mornings, one of the first things we ought to start asking people is how many people did you tell about God this week?
SPEAKER_04But the thing is, a lot of people want God to go to their house, but they don't want to go to eat. And you know, it says for Satan off his self disembler than her brother, whenever COVID happened, what did what was the number one thing they tried to do? They tried to shut down the church. Because the devil knows if he can keep people out of church, that's right. Then he's got a chance. But if he cannot keep people out of church and he he cannot force them to quit quit using the name of Jesus, then he don't have a chance.
SPEAKER_00No. Yeah. Whatsoever, none whatsoever.
SPEAKER_04Because his defeat has been determined. Yep. Yeah. All right, I'm done now.
SPEAKER_00Well, guys, I've definitely enjoyed this as always. And John, you're more than welcome to come back anytime you want to.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, if he's coming this way, you might as well come with him. To me, the more the merrier. I mean, because I enjoy it. I'm learning still. And I I feel like I got two good people to help me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I know we all learn every day, but you know. No, I'm learning every day. Like last night I was learning more. Like when you you stirred up curiosity in me, you would have learned more. And I went to home and I would did my homework.
SPEAKER_00We can the next week, buddy.
SPEAKER_04If you don't, if you're not constantly learning something.
SPEAKER_03Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04You're in deterioration mode.
SPEAKER_03You're growing otherwise. If you're just sitting there stagnant. Stagnant. Rotten. Yeah, rotten. A stagnant pond.
SPEAKER_00You know, like I try to get my kids to read more and more of the Bible, but and I and I've been in their shoes. Well, you know, I know I got to be at work at 7 o'clock in the morning. Well, I don't want to get out of bed at 6 30 because I know I can get to work in 15 minutes or whatever, but people need to take that extra 15 to 20 minutes every day. Get up, pray, thank the good Lord for waking you up that morning, and then get in that word for 15 minutes. That's all you got to do.
SPEAKER_04Well, now it's simple. You all you gotta do is put the Bible app on and let it read to you.
SPEAKER_03Let that thing rip right into the ear.
SPEAKER_04Instead of riding down the road listening to honky donk, but donkey donk. Wait a minute. Why don't you listen to the word of God or some good preaching?
SPEAKER_03I mean, that's like I try to listen to listen to the Testament of Faith podcast.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04We just plugged it in for you. I try to listen to at least one to five messages a day. And I had the Bible playing all night while I'm asleep. If I wake up, I'm gonna be honest with you. I used to have a problem with waking up and not being able to go to sleep since I started playing the Bible every night. And I wake up and I try to hear it. And I start praying in the spirit. The devil is like, I need to leave this boy alone. Let him go back to sleep. There you go. He's he's he's got he knows how to fight. And if I keep letting him learn more, uh uh, let him go back to sleep. Y'all, y'all leave this boy alone, let him go back to sleep.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and sometimes out time. That's the same thing with me. I'm listening to the word competent in me. Every day, all day.
SPEAKER_00Working dogs, your most holy faith. I mean, I I get out here every day and I read and I study and all that stuff for a good hour or two most days, but then when I like listening to music, I've quit listening to all that other stuff I used to do. That's what I've I'm like. I said I'm at I love blue grass gospel, I love old time hymns and stuff like that, and that's what I listen to. And I got I go all of the new stuff too, and I like the new stuff too. Yeah. But it's something keeping me on that path. Yeah. I'm not trying to divert off that path. I've got my mind made up. Absolutely. I've got my directions in my GPS, and that's where I'm headed.
SPEAKER_05Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00I mean the more, you know.
SPEAKER_03And if you just listen to a podcast like this, not taking any detours. This, you know, you were talking about somebody listening to something. Even if you just listen to a podcast like this, then we just gave a whole bunch of scripture tonight. I shared a whole bunch of scriptures with you. You heard of it Yeah, that's what I'm saying. So that helps build somebody up because it's gonna stir up some curiosity.
SPEAKER_00When I'm listening to the podcast, I'm listening to podcasts similar to this one, David. You know, it might be not people giving their testimonies, but they're talking about God, you're talking about Jesus.
SPEAKER_03And it stirs up curiosity to go check them out.
SPEAKER_00They're talking about bringing people to God, and I mean, and that's what I want to emulate that. I have a habit and it's a good habit.
SPEAKER_04I always check what people are saying. Yeah, I gotta check it out. Always check. Because if especially if it's something I I'm like, I want to I want to know more. Like you were talking about researching stuff. I used to research stuff like that as well. But I know how to research, so therefore I research what the Bible has to say about the same thing and whether that person's right or wrong.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, I I've noticed on a certain platform, I'm not gonna call any name TikTok, but there's a lot of people on there trying to spread the word that, man, I really talking about raising the eyebrow and turning your head. What's that? What are you talking about?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like getting it. I've I know I don't I'm quick to delete you and block you and discommunicate because I don't like that stuff.
SPEAKER_00They get over and act all they can get in acting all sincere and stuff, but then when they start their lips start moving, I'm like, I don't think the Bible says that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. You can you better check it. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00There's been quite a few of them. I've gone on there and actually copied the scripture off that app and posted it in their comments. Yeah. I think this is what you're trying to say. Yeah. Yeah, messing up. Yeah. All right. Well, like at the end of every podcast, I'll try to read a verse or two. In this one, I got quite a few verses, but it's all worth reading. Oh yeah. Since we're in the book of John, I'm gonna read verse 16 through 21.
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00I feel like you you read verse sixteen, if you read the rest of them behind it, you're really getting a meaning to it. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
SPEAKER_03Thank God.
SPEAKER_00For God did not send his son into the world to condemn them. There we go again. Jesus never come and condemned anybody. He showed love and compassion towards everybody and healing. So I mean what why do we want to go listen to hellfire and brimstone all the time? But that the world through him might be saved. He who believes in him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God, begotten Son of God, and this is the condemnation that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does but he who does the truth comes to the light that his deeds may be clearly seen that they have been done in God. Man, that's that's powerful.
SPEAKER_03It is. It just points back to why you need to read the book of John. It shows you this that you know if you're hearing a message that's just beating you up. That don't line up with John 316 through 21. It sure don't line up to that. He didn't come to condemn the it's called the good news for a reason.
SPEAKER_04Jesus was making towards was the preachers today.
SPEAKER_00The Pharisees and Saturn sees in the synagogues of Satan. I mean, that that's that's the only ones he was really rough with. Well, I mean, yeah, because I mean they weren't He was a friend of sinners. Yeah, he was a friend of sinners. That's why I tell everybody all the time Jesus did not go to church looking for people to to heal. He got through out of church. Yeah. Jesus went to the the to the worst of the worst. He won't preaching out in the desert because he wanted to be there. That's right. I mean it ain't you know, he didn't go put up these big air-conditioned tents and all that stuff. He he went to the people out there that were what a lot of people call the scum of the earth. And that's who we brought. And and that's who we turned into disciples. Um the tax collectors. I mean, take Matthew for instance. Everybody hated tax collectors, they were sinners.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Look at Matthew. Look look at look at Peter.
SPEAKER_04He was a fisherman. They were considered lowlife. That's right. They were uneducated.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, uneducated lowlife. I'm glad he likes uneducated people. You see, my trailer battery got a lowlifers and all over. I am a lowlife. Yeah. All right. Well, that being said, we'll close us out with a word of prayer. Thank y'all for joining us. John, thank you for coming. You're welcome back anytime, brother.
unknownAll right.
SPEAKER_00And you know you always welcome when we have our Monday night podcast.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00All right, I mean, how about closing us out with a word of prayer? All right.
