Welcome to the Testament Faith Podcast. I'm Ray Bradshaw. Joining me again tonight is Jon Paul Murphy and John Quinn from the World of Faith Ministries Church in Kenansville, North Carolina, and Daniel Bell from the World of Faith Church in Kenansville, North Carolina. Yep. Tonight, our topic's gonna be anger. I know a lot of people deal with that, and I know I certainly do. It's probably my worst trait that I'm still trying to overcome. But the help of the Lord, he helps me every day with it. Um first verse I want to read tonight, James 1, 19 through 20. Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger. For the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. And I can agree with it. That verse has helped me with my anger. Has been having to stop and think about my response, my replies. Even my body language.
Speaker 3So then how about your mad face? Yeah, as long as your body language. Yeah.
Speaker 5Rolling your eyes and all kinds of mess. I mean, you know, you can tell a lot about a person just by looking at it.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 5Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3The biggest thing is like you're to me, I can see somebody like you're not really happy because your your face is really showing it. Like you're you're aggravated, you're upset. And then the next part of that is lay therefore lay aside all filthiness and and overflowing of wickedness and receive with meekness the implant of the word, which is which is able to save your soul. But be doers of the word and not hearers only deceiving yourself. That's 22. I thought that was good to read the rest of that, because it just fit along with what you were talking about.
Speaker 5Yeah, I mean you think about when you slow down, you get more time to think about things. Exactly. And and that and that and that has ever to do with everything in life, not just anger, but everything. Yeah. Making decisions, purchases, anything like that.
Speaker 2Well, me and John Paul are around each other a lot. And sometimes they can when you're around somebody a lot, you can get tension pretty quick. But we've learned if we start getting there, go home. Split up, go your separate ways, come back tomorrow. Because you're if you when if you speak when you're mad, you do damage. Right, that's right. You're better off to think, not speak. Shut up. That's the best that's the best thing to do when you're mad. We talked about this before the a little before the podcast. If you're mad, the best thing to do is shut up. People will try and people will try to get you to talk. And like we'll talk about it tomorrow. Yeah, we'll know about it more.
Speaker 4That's like we were talking before we got started, you know, anger steals so much from you. You know, it it it hinders your relationship and your communication.
Speaker 5Yep.
Speaker 4It's like I was saying I got in strife the other day, and I was like, you know, my prayers aren't going above the roof. I'm I'm talking to myself at this point because I'm upset and I can't be. But I can walk away from it and calm down and come back.
Speaker 2Well, when you when you let yourself start getting when you get in anger, you know, you you start losing your peace. And like I said in church yesterday morning, if you start separating yourself from your peace, the the peace comes from the comforter, which is the Holy Spirit.
unknownRight.
Speaker 2Well, if you start separating yourself from your peace, then that's in between you and your relationship. And that relationship, when when separation goes there, other things enter in.
Speaker 3Mm-hmm.
Speaker 2Yep.
Speaker 3Mm-hmm. Because when you lose your peace and you get focused in on anger, you know, you've you have unforgiveness. Mm-hmm. And the Bible says you're open pretty much opening a door for the devil to thrive.
Speaker 5Right, that's why he's present. Ephesians 4, verses 26 and 27, be angry and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your anger and give no opportunity to the devil. I mean, you know, that's just like we slow it down. Like John just said, zip your lip. Let's talk about it tomorrow.
Speaker 4Well, if you think about it, anger can be a warning sign on the dashboard of your soul. You know, that's right. He didn't say don't be angry. Yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 4He said be angry and sin not. We can be angry at sin. We can be angry at corruption.
Speaker 3Yeah, because think about Jesus.
SpeakerMm-hmm.
Speaker 3Went into the to the synagogue when they were sitting there s selling stuff. I'm sure I don't know about you, but whipping a whip and flipping over tables, I don't think he was over there smiling like y'all are doing a good work, you know. He was he was hot.
Speaker 2I mean, I could braided the whip to calm down.
Speaker 3He took time to calm down, braiding that whip.
Speaker 2It would have been a lot worse. Yeah.
Speaker 4And and that in in the second part of the verse where it says and and not to give place to the devil.
Speaker 2Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 4So there's a righteous anger.
unknownMm-hmm.
Speaker 2But then once you go past it Well, Jesus look at look at Mark three five, and when he had looked around about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand, and he stretched it out, and his hand was restored whole. Anger's not automatic sin. That's what we we mentioned that earlier. It's when you constantly think on it, focus on it, dwell on it. When you don't let it go. You get into a place of living in anger. Yeah. Dwelling in anger. Yeah.
Speaker 4He was angry at the hypocrisy and the corruption in the synagogue. His anger wasn't about him.
Speaker 2What you do with the anger determines whether it becomes sin. Go ahead.
Speaker 4And his anger was controlled. So like you said, you know, he I can see him braiding the whip now, going, Oh, if I don't do this, it's fixing the basics.
Speaker 5You know, you think about anybody you know that holds grudges, they're always angry. They're miserable people. They are. Anybody everybody I knew that holds a grudge.
Speaker 2Wow, that people are miserable. I need to get them out out of their anger. I don't know if some miserable people.
Speaker 4So when we were little growing up, um my youngest brother busted my middle brother's lip with a Pepsi bottle. And the way he did it, he called his name right by he so Timmy was little. He chunked that Pepsi bottle, and right before the bottle hit David in the back of the head, he said, David! And he turned around, hit him in the mouth. Had to carry him to the hospital and get stitches. And Daddy asked Timmy, he said, Why did you throw the bottle at your brother? He said, I was mad at him. He did something to him two weeks before and he waited for the time to get him. That is premeditated. Anger can anger that hurts people is not premature.
Speaker 2Well, the spanking your daddy gave him was probably not premeditated.
SpeakerNo, no, no.
Speaker 2That's right. But he probably got it.
Speaker 5We're in that month now. Everybody wants to say love is love. But but the the thing with that is going back to that spanking, I mean, as fathers, we're not gonna let our kids do whatever they want to do. But you know, and a lot of people mistake that for anger when it's not. Exactly.
Speaker 4But you're not supposed to spank them in anger.
Speaker 5Right. I mean, it's just like us telling people on this podcast and out in public and in church about the sins, what the Bible calls sins, and they they think we're just angry, miserable people because we don't want them to have any fun. I mean, and that's not what it's about. We're just trying to correct them and show them they're away.
Speaker 4I have loads of fun.
unknownMm-hmm.
Speaker 4Yeah. My life is so much better with the connection I have than it was before.
Speaker 2Right. I have more joy now than I ever had. Mm-hmm. Oh, yeah, definitely.
Speaker 4Yeah, dude. You know anger. Okay. Yeah, no, so I I was talking to a preacher and we were praying, and he said, Boy, quit looking at the floor. Yeah. I said, Huh? He said, Look up. Do you do you look like d do you look down when you're talking to somebody across the room or do you look out? And I'm like, hmm, I never thought about that. Because you know you're taught bow your head. Bow your head to pray. He said, No, so you need to be looking up.
Speaker 3That's right.
Speaker 4And it gives you a different spirit in your human mind looking up versus looking down.
Speaker 5I mean, I I feel like the bowing part of it probably comes being, you know, it we're supposed to be in awe of God and humble before before him in reverence. Yeah, that's where the bowing comes from. But I mean, when you're praying, why not look up to him? Yeah.
SpeakerMm-hmm.
Speaker 2That's right. I don't think he's gonna swatch you for either one as long as you're talking to him.
Speaker 4It gives me a it gives me a different feeling too. Absolutely. A different aspect.
Speaker 5A different perspective, that's for sure. Yeah.
Speaker 3Yep. The anger becomes dangerous when it starts controlling you. When it controls you and you don't have control, um, you know, I was that was some of the things that I struggled with the most for a long time was anger because I was quick to temper. I always told everybody I have the short fuse and it don't take a lot to let it go. I'm ready to go at any spark. You don't even have to.
Speaker 2It's already smoldering. It just needs a little spark.
Speaker 3Yeah. Just a little air. A little air. You give me a little air, and I'm ready to not. And that's that was me. You can talk to Christian and she could vouch for that very much so that I was quick to anger. Um, you know, but the more you get into the word, you start understanding the love, you start understanding how to have peace, you start understanding, you know, when somebody angers you, you give them permission to take your joy. Right. And one thing I have done is I do not give you to permission to take my joy. That's right. I'm not giving you the license to come in and take what is mine because you're gonna cost me something.
Speaker 5Well, you have dominion over that. Yes. Yeah, I think they had a podcast on that. I'm gonna check it out. It is.
Speaker 3But you you don't let somebody take something that's yours. That's right. And you know, people will try to come in and take your joy. And, you know, like John says, choose to walk away. Like if me and Christian, we start having a disagreement, I'm like, I see you. I go to my building. I'm gone. I'm leaving. I'm I'm walking out. She's like, You're not gonna talk to me about it. Not in this state of mind. Right. I'll go to the church and argue with me there. It's not that I don't love you, but I'm I'm walking out of here. I'm making a decision that you're not gonna steal my joy. I love you with all my heart. That's right. But I'm I'm making a decision. I'm walking out of here because if I stay in here, we're both gonna be like this in a few minutes. And if you'll give me 30 minutes to an hour, I'm gonna go to the building, read the Bible, I'm gonna pray, and I'll be back in here and I'll be smiling. I'll be like it's good to see you.
Speaker 2A hot temper brings trouble.
Speaker 4Yeah. Proverbs 29, 22. I don't yeah. An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man boundeth in transgression. So when I'm walking away from you because I'm mad, I don't want to stir up strife. Right.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Speaker 4I want to stop it. That's what I'm doing.
Speaker 5Well, maybe our wives are listening to that because I really don't think that they understand that sometimes. And eventually I'm sitting there trying to calm down before I do something I regret. That's right. Exactly.
Speaker 3I walk away.
Speaker 5It's just like, you know, I had an old carpenter tell me one time I was working with him when I was younger days, I threw a hammer because I was mad, and he said, You know what's gonna make even madder? I was like, What? He said, Now you gotta walk way over there and pick it up. Yeah. Because it ain't coming back to you, you gotta go get it.
Speaker 4I heard a heard somebody make this reference years ago. They said, you know, when you make somebody mad hurt somebody's feelings, it's like you put a nail in a piece of plywood. Oh yeah. All right, well you pull it out and you say you're sorry. Yeah. The hole's still there. The hole's still there.
Speaker 5Exactly.
Speaker 4Exactly.
Speaker 5That's right. Now you know you know, and I've said a many a thing has come out of my mouth that I wish I could take back. But once them once them words leave your lips, it's everywhere. It's just like a bullet. That's it. You can't take there's no taking it back.
Speaker 2Yeah, Proverbs 1429, he that is slow to wrath is of great understanding. But he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly. And if you look at the next one I had for that one was Proverbs fifteen eighteen. Wisdom slows down before responding. Anger creates conflict. Self-control brings peace. That's one of the fruits of the spirit, by the way.
Speaker 4Well, in for Proverbs 25, 28, it says he that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down and without walls. And now if you'll take that context, if you take it and look at your spirit and yourself as a city with walls to protect you from the fiery darts, but if you can't control your own spirit and you get mad, now your walls are broken down. Right. And you're opening the door up for the enemy to try to have a way in and angle in. Yeah. Because your peace is gone, and now somebody's living in your head rent-free, and we we ain't about that life right here.
Speaker 3Anger is all about now. You know, anger wants you to respond now. Like even when somebody sends you a text message, you're like, I'm ready to do something now. Yep. Anger is all about wanting to do something now, wanting to fight now. But wisdom, like these guys are talking about, is telling you to wait. Wait, calm down, pray, think about it, start talking to God.
Speaker 2They send you one text, 20 minutes later they send you another text.
Speaker 3Yeah. And then they get then they get blocked and did not tell you.
Speaker 5Why does God value self-control over physical strength?
Speaker 1Mm-hmm.
Speaker 5Because if you can control yourself, I don't know anybody with physical strength that uses that strength where that does not cause sin, but the lack of self-control will cause sin. Mm-hmm. And anger being part of that.
SpeakerMm-hmm.
Speaker 5And watching what you say to people and that kind of thing. Well, you need self-control then a lot. That's like Proverbs 1632. Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes the city.
Speaker 4But the world values and celebrates a conqueror, but God celebrates the person who can conquer himself. That's right. Crucify your flesh. We could really flesh this thing out. This this thing could really get big.
Speaker 2Well, anybody can lose their temper. Yeah. It takes maturity to hold it.
SpeakerMm-hmm.
Speaker 2It it takes I mean, it takes real strength to hold your tongue.
Speaker 4I tell people when they send me that text message you're talking about, those three dots going that's got that's the grace of God working on me.
Speaker 2What what is it weren't James that said that he did bridle the tongue is an unruly member?
SpeakerMm-hmm.
Speaker 2And it's like the rudder of a ship. It carries you where you're going, and if you can control the rudder, you can control the ship. You can control your mouth, you can control your life.
Speaker 5Yep.
Speaker 2In more more ways than just anger. I mean, these people defeat their there's a lot of people the devil don't have to do nothing because they're defeating their self with their own words.
SpeakerRight.
Speaker 2Devil's like, I can just leave them alone. They're destroying their own self.
Speaker 5James 3, 4. Look also at ships, although they were so large and were driven by fierce winds, they were turned by a very small rudder whenever the pilot desires.
Speaker 2Tongue's an unruly member. It is.
Speaker 5You gotta what is it? Bridle your tongue. Bridle, yeah. Sometimes I think mine's got a mind of its own.
Speaker 4Well, if you think about a fire, somebody gets mad they're fiery. Well, there's ways to put a fire out. You know, you you get rid of the fuel for the fire, you make the fire cold, throw water on it. But there's also ways to make it worse. Add fuel. Yeah, if you throw gasoline to her, if you start chunking to her, she gets hotter and hotter and hotter.
Speaker 2You give it air and you give it fuel and she'll go.
Speaker 3That's right. You know, the biggest problem with anger is it leads to other things.
SpeakerMm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3Anger, you know, look at the very first murder in the Bible. Cain and Abel. Mm-hmm. That's right. And the Lord said to Cain, why are why are you angry? He He's like, Why why are you angry? And he said, Why has your cons consistently fallen? If you do if you dwell, do well, you would be would not be accepted. And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. So, you know, when you get in anger, sin's at the door. You've let it in, now it's come at you, and then that's the very thing it people don't realize is anger opens up the door to do ugly things to people. I'm gonna go take care of them, I'm gonna go straighten this out, you know, and that's what causes so many problems. It's not just that, but look at Moses lost his temper and it cost him everything. Yep. Moses got upset and you know, lost his temper. Look, instead, it God told him to speak to the rock. Moses became angry and struck the rock. And smote it, yep. Yep. So you gotta understand throughout the Bible, the Bible gives you lots of examples of what causes um what the cost of anger is. Anger leads to disobedience. It leads to you doing it your own way instead of following after God. Because when you get into anger, you're cutting off the voice of God, as he says. You're cutting off the voice of God. Now you're feeding into yourself and you get into disobedience. And I'm telling you, disobedience will cut you off of things. You know, Moses is a perfect example in that Numbers 20, verses 10 and through 12. You know, when he got into that, it got into disobedience, which now didn't allow him to enter into the promised land that he had planned for him. You know, that's the one thing that people don't understand is, you know, when you let it in, it's not just uh your facial expressions, it's not just you spitting off at the mouth. You know, we're talking about people that spits off the mouth. That's people that's trying to do good. Yeah. You know, they're trying, but then it goes to another level when you keep on letting this confester up.
Speaker 4Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3You take it to the next action.
Speaker 4Now I got a note here that says many great falls began with anger that was never dealt with.
Speaker 5Yeah. Yeah. You know, going back to Cain and Abel, when you stepped out a while ago, we were just sitting there talking about it. Why is it that those we usually stay at angry the most are the ones we love the most? Yeah. I mean, is it because we expect more out of them?
Speaker 3I mean, I had a why is that familiarity. You know what I mean? Yeah. Familiarity really hurts relationships. And that's why I've had a message on that one time. You know, familiarity kills relationships because if you're around somebody all the time, you know, they do you get used to being, I'm gonna talk how I want to do because when you're dating, I know that person perfect. Oh yeah, baby, don't worry about it. It's all good. It's all good. Then you get then you expect them to know, well, you know that was gonna upset me. You knew that, and you get higher expectations, yes. But at the same time, you gotta look at it as God looks at it. Right. When you mess up, he's not angry at you. Look at a prodigal son, took off and sinned against his father, left, yeah, took all this all the inheritance and left. His father didn't look at him in anger, and how are we called to be like? We're called to be Christ like. We're called to be like God, we're called to show forgiveness, to show love, even when it's tough, because you do think about that story, and you put yourself in that perspective, you know, it would be hard when somebody has gone and squandered everything you had that you give them, and then they come back and you show love. So, you know, how do you keep this out of getting into anger? How do you keep it from doing that? Is by what we always talk about, getting in that word of God and study.
Speaker 5Talking about that, that brings me to Psalms 103.8. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Yeah. And that's not that's the way we need to be with all of our loved ones, our friends, and you know, family. And I I had to stop thinking about that all the time now. I mean, that's no lie. All the time I had to stop myself.
Speaker 3Yeah. That's all of us in this room we have to stop. I mean, we have things that we go through. I'm sure our listeners are the same way. You have things you're going through. Exactly. Yeah, you have things you're going through, and we're not telling you that you're gonna live and you're not gonna get angry because you're gonna have opportunities. It's what you do with that anger. Yeah, it's what you do, like we're giving you advice here when that happens. Walk away. Yeah, go get you some prayer time, go read your Bible, calm down. I have a room that I talk about all the time. I go in and I get in prayer. I'm like, hey, I'm not dealing with this right now. I walk out of the house in a heartbeat.
Speaker 5You know, and that makes me think, just thinking about that, from now on when I think that, like, say me and my wife get in a little heated debate or something. I'm gonna I'm gonna look here and say, Look, I just need to step away. I'm gone. Give me five minutes. Because most time I'll just kind of like shut it down, but I'm sitting there pleading it in my mind trying to say something that's not gonna keep used fuel to the fire, but now I think I just you know what, I'll be right back.
Speaker 3I'm headed to the building, I'll see you in a little bit. I'm gonna come out here. Yeah, that's what I do because I used to sit in there and then, you know, I would try to stay inside the house and deal with it. And then, you know, for a minute, here in a few minutes, she's gonna be stomping around, you know, she's still upset, and I'm gonna hear something, you know, she might not even be meaning to do it, but the door gets shut hard, and I'm like, So it's better for me. Yeah, for because or she just pits a cup down and I hear it wrong, not saying she's doing anything wrong, but she pits a cup down and it sounds like she was pitting it down with force, and now I'm like What is that supposed to mean? Yeah, you know, because you didn't everything's playing in your mind, like you're saying. The best thing you do is get out of the house. I'll see you in a few minutes, I'm going to pray.
Speaker 5Sometimes I've tried to come out here and then it follows me, but I've had I've actually gotten a truck before and I'll be right back. Yeah, I've done that plenty of times. I've driven down the road, just sitting home depot parking lot or something. Yeah.
Speaker 2Well absolutely That's biblical because that's in Ephesians four thirty-one and thirty-two. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice. And be ye kind one to another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Speaker 3That's right. What what we just everything we just covered in scripture backing up. We get uh get away from it, you know. You have to.
Speaker 5You know, that that's another point to be taken because we say it is all the time on there, no matter what you come across. We can find it in the scripture. Exactly. I got a scripture for everything. There's a scripture for everything.
Speaker 4In Colossians 3 and 13, it says for bearing. And if you'll look at the footnote in your if your Bible has footnotes, it says bearing with one another and forgiving one another. If any may have a quarrel against any, even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And then that crosses over to Mark 11 25, where he says, And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any, that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you. We have to forgive so he can forgive us. But then in Colossians 3 15, he says, And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also ye are called in one body, and be ye thankful. Now, why is that important? Because we're all part of the body of Christ. Right. And every part of the body has a function. So let's say you have gout and your gout flares up and gets hot and angry. That's what they call it in the medical field. When you're when your gout flares up, they say that looks hot and angry, but your foot doesn't work like it's supposed to. So your walk doesn't look like it's supposed to. Yeah.
Speaker 5Right.
Speaker 4It it's it all ties back in. You know, for you to have your peace, the body's got to work together. And that's the body of Christ, which is us believers. Right. It's not just you standing behind the pulpit. We all are part of it.
Speaker 5Yeah, well, right. It told us in Colossians 3 8. But now you yourselves are to put off all these anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth, and do away with all of it.
SpeakerYeah. Yeah.
Speaker 2To be more Christ like. And another scripture talked about uh think on these things, whatsoever is pure, honest, and a good report. If there be any virtue in it, think on these things. I mean, uh the Bible's even telling you what to focus on. Don't I mean don't let anger control your life. I mean, i the Bible even Solomon even talked about not even making friends with angry people. I mean, that was in Proverbs twenty-two. Oh. He said, Make no friendship with an angry man and with a furious man, thou shalt not go. Lest thou learn his way and get a snare to thy soul.
Speaker 5That that Colossians 3 8 I just read, I think they greeted Paul grouped all that together because that first word, anger, leads to wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Like I said earlier, I said a lot of things when I was angry, I wish I could take back.
Speaker 4But we know, and like Philippians 4 7, it says, And the peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ. We can understand this peace. We God we love it. But that peace.
Speaker 3How do we get back to, you know, dealing, how do you deal with anger on your own? You know, this is the scripture that I would say to somebody that what I was talking about going out to your prayer room, going out and and getting away from it. This is what I would give you to back that up, because I like to back everything else up. Psalms 55, verse 22, cast thy burdens upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee. That's the first thing you need to do is, hey, look, God, I'm dealing with this. You know where my heart is. I'm I I I ask for forgiveness. That's me. I'm like, Lord, forgive me because I thought these thoughts, and I'm I'm I'm angry at this moment. I need your help. He said, Call on me, cast my burdens on you, and you'll take care of me. So I'm giving this to you because I know your yoke. You'll take the yoke off my neck, you'll make it easy on me. So um, you know, that's the one thing that you gotta do. And then Galatians, just back it up a little bit more. I like, you know, I like backing up. Galatians 5, 16. This I say then, walk in the spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Anger is the strongest within your flesh, it holds the strongest hold. Because it holds a thing. So that's the reason we're telling all my getting in this book and learning the spirit. Because the more you get into that and the more you read that, you're going to get closer to the spirit man and release that fleshless that gets you into angry. I I get it. I'm I told you at the beginning that I was a short-fused, ready to go. But the more I get into the word and realize, hey, you know what? I have dominion over this thing.
Speaker 5I know the sooner I can get out here every morning and get in that book, the better off I am. Yes. But it seems like if there's things that got to be done first, and I can't get out here like when I want to, I can I can feel my temperature rising.
Speaker 4That was scripture this morning. Seek ye first the kingdom of God. What do you do when you wake up?
Speaker 2I don't I don't allow anything. I if it's something's gotta be done right now, it can wait. I've learned what what people make as a priority. If you make it a priority, you'll do it. And my time with God is number one priority. When I wake up every morning, that's that's not Facebook time, that's not people time. That's right. That's my time with God. Until I spend that time with God, you don't want to call me because I'm not gonna be happy if you I'm not gonna answer most of the time.
Speaker 5Right. I mean, when I first wake up, you know, I pray and thank him for waking me up to start with. But then by you know, I get distracted by getting a coffee meat and that kind of stuff before I get out here. That's what I can tell. Yeah. I gotta hurry up and get out there and get that book. Yeah. Yeah, we we've been sitting here talking about our wives. Yeah.
Speaker 4I ain't telling you about my wife. Well, you don't know about arguments. I don't like nothing about mine at all, really. But anyways, so in Colossians 3 19, it says, Husbands, love your wives. That's right. And be not bitter against him. We were told.
Speaker 2That's right. Commanded. Yeah, we were loved. Commanded. Love your wife as Christ loved the church.
Speaker 4Now, there's another point I want to make here, and then this point is really big, and it can go along with let the kids be baptized. In verse 21, left foot, left foot. In verse 21, fathers provoke not your children to anger lest they be discouraged. Yeah. Absolutely. We're not supposed to be stumbling blocks for our children. That's right. Think about what anger does to you. You're mature.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Speaker 4You have a greater understanding. Now think about what that's going to do to a child who doesn't have that understanding. Now you've made them angry. They don't know which way to go. They don't have the maturity to do it. Yeah.
Speaker 5You know, we're training dogs. If you get mad with a dog, you can see it in their eyes. They get so confused that they don't know which way to go. Confusion is a bad place to be.
Speaker 3And children are the same way.
Speaker 5And I hate to use this analogy, but when our kids were younger, I always told my wife, I said, raising them children is no different than training a dog. It's all about reputation. We have this conversation all the time. It is. Man, they're so mad with me, they're not dogs. I said, That's what I'm saying. I said, It's the way you do it. Exactly. That's right. It's reputation. I said, a dog learns from reputation. It ain't from giving them food all the time when they do something right. It's the reputation.
Speaker 2That's right. Mm-hmm. We have this conversation all the time. Dog knows what he can get away with at your house. Knows what he can get away at your house. That's right. He knows by house what he can get away with.
Speaker 5There's been a many times my kids that come home from where you got the nicest kid. They're so polite. And I'm like, Really? Really?
Speaker 2You must really deal with some hillions. No, I did.
Speaker 5Yeah. But you know, they're they're gonna be different at other people's houses and what the order rooms home.
Speaker 3And they're meant to be that way. You do have nice, nice boys. They are really respectful. I mean I've hung out with them and I know enough about them now. You did a good job.
Speaker 2You know, you're supposed to evil overcome evil with good.
Speaker 3That brought me to my question. How do you respond to angry people? Yeah. Because you're gonna have angry people all around us, and I'm I'm gonna let you get into that in just a second, but you're gonna have people not necessarily that you're angry. I'm talking about a little bit more mature people in Christ, like us. You know, I'm not saying we're all the way there yet, but I'm just saying we're growing in Christ, we're we're seeking him more.
Speaker 2I don't comprehend all, but that's one thing I do know. Forgetting those things are behind, I press toward the marker die calling God.
Speaker 5And that's why I wanted to use this topic tonight, because you know, I'm still I still struggle with it. As we all do. Yeah.
Speaker 3Yeah. So, you know, maybe we can learn something. How do we handle though? How do my question is how do we respond to angry people? Like you have angry people at your work, you know, you do nursing stuff like that. You have angry people at church, you have angry people that you have to work with and deal with. I everybody around us have this. So you know, I would like to give to our listeners and people, us in this room, how do we deal with it?
Speaker 2There was a saying, and Mama used to say it, kill 'em with kindness. You can you can just be kind to somebody that is causing you a problem that would make where normally they would make you angry. Uh matter of fact, look at Romans twelve, nineteen through twenty-one. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourself, but rather give place unto wrath. For it is written, Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord, I will repay, saith the Lord. It's moved on me. But find it again so I can finish reading it. There it is. Okay. Therefore, if thine enemy hungers, feed him. If he thirst, give him drink. For in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good.
Speaker 4Yeah, I think we said something about Proverbs 15 1 a while ago, but it says a soft answer turneth away wrath.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 4That's exactly right.
Speaker 2God will handle it.
Speaker 4Exactly. So and we should learn from God. We should we should be God like. In first Peter two and twenty-three, it says, Who when he was reviled, reviled not again. So what's that mean? When he had all the things happened to him, he didn't do it back to him. Right. He didn't say I'm gonna get you back. No, he said when he suffered, he threatened not, but he committed himself to him that judgeth righteously. He and he endured all these things, yet he still trusted God.
Speaker 3Yeah, when when you when you start controlled his reactions, he controlled his actions toward those people, you know.
Speaker 5Um when you get mad and start thinking about revenge and how you're gonna get back at somebody. I mean, that that right there's the start of your sin.
SpeakerMm-hmm.
Speaker 5Well, I mean, we actually need to stop, like you said, a soft answer turns away wrath. So you need to go ahead and quit thinking about that revenge and go and ask for forgiveness.
Speaker 4Can you imagine what went through people's heads when he said forgive them, father, for they know not what they do? Oh man. Can you imagine? I got goosebumps.
Speaker 5I was fixing to say that giving me goosebumps.
Speaker 4Just thinking, I mean, just Yeah.
Speaker 3I mean it's think about another person that responded to anger. Think about David and Saul. Yeah, David and Saul. Because I mean, you think about the anger. Saul was throwing a javelin at him. You're gonna pin that sucker to the wall, buddy. I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm I'm handling you. I mean, if you don't think that was anger, I mean I've never threw it. But later.
Speaker 2But later, David repented for even touching his garment.
Speaker 4Yeah, because he went and cut a piece off his garment to show him, buddy, I could have killed you. David had opportunities, not one, many opportunities to kill him.
Speaker 2While he was sleeping.
Speaker 3That's what I'm saying. He instead he trusted in God. That's what I'm leading at as a man that had an opportunity to handle it on his own. But instead he's like, No, I trust in God. I'm letting God handle this situation, not me. You know, getting angry about things, you have to look at David. Because I I look at David a lot because I see, hey man, this guy was a guy man after God's own heart. What better man to label example after than a man that's after God's own heart and everything he did? He was like, didn't get now. David had some moments of anger. David had some problems, but during this situation in his life, he showed forth the love, like, hey, I'm not gonna do anything against God's anointed person. Right.
Speaker 2And so, you know You know, there's there's biblical steps to not have anger, to control your anger. Stop and pray before you speak. I mean, be filled with the Spirit, because I said earlier, the fruits of the Spirit, love joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, temperance. Against such there is no law. Love. Right. If you truly love somebody, you'll forgive them quickly.
Speaker 3All these are the weapons against anger. Yeah, weapons against anger.
Speaker 2I mean, look at it, long suffering. Suffering long, they some people that really test you long suffering. Oh, yeah.
Speaker 5Gentleness, meekness, temperance, self-control. That makes me think of another old saying too that I've always heard growing up. Two wrongs do not make a right. No. Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah. Dane already covered one of them about forgiving quickly. I'm sorry.
Speaker 5No, you're all right. And I was just gonna say that you know that s somebody has to be the bigger person, the more mature person, like we were talking about with the children a while ago.
Speaker 2Boom. John Paul covered another step to casting your cares upon the Lord.
SpeakerYeah.
Speaker 2I mean, that's your steps for for avoiding anger.
Speaker 3Right. And what anger does is when you get into anger, you start missing God. Look at the Pharisees. Yeah. They had Jesus right there in front of them, and they were so uh angry at what he was doing that they miss the Messiah. They missed what he was doing. They missed the Messiah because they were angry. And I'm gonna tell you this if you get angry, you're gonna miss Jesus because you've let that come in just like the Pharisees did. Amen. And they got so angry they missed the Messiah, the one they had been writ talking about for years, the one they had studied out trying to say that and they missed him. And you know, I I even had a sermon on this Wednesday night. I was talking about don't take a don't be take offense because when you take offense, it's okay to get offended by a moment, but don't take offense where you dwell on it, because when you do that, let's you miss what God is doing.
Speaker 2When you take offense, you start building a fence around you.
Speaker 5I don't like you talking about the Pharisees, but I like to think about they had their blinders on of anger. I mean they were just looking straight ahead. They weren't looking at the whole picture.
Speaker 3Yeah, they missed the message.
Speaker 2They missed it. That's like he was talking about Saul just a minute ago. It says, though, that whenever he'd done what he'd done, you know, about not being obedient, it said that the spirit left him. Yeah. And immediately when the spirit left him, another spirit entered.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Speaker 2And that And he was tormented.
Speaker 3He was tormented with anger. Right. That's tormented. He had tormentations coming about him. He couldn't hardly sleep. He couldn't sleep. He couldn't rest. That's the reason David was hired to come in and to play the heart to calm him down because he needed that.
Speaker 2Now, what does anger cause when you have it? You'll lay there awake, man. Oh, yeah. Thinking about what's going over. I told a story about when me and CeCe years ago, I would be so mad I'd be laying there awake. She'd be sleeping like a baby. Anger does nothing to the other person. It just bothers you. They're sleeping like a baby. And you're over there, I ain't gonna pull that cover over here. I'll freeze to death before I pull that cover and admit I need anything from her. I'll get up, I get up and go to work, pull a 24-hour shift driving a truck, and have to work another eight-hour shift just because you were stupid. I've done it before.
Speaker 3Because anger was controlling you. Right. I won't control me.
Speaker 5I mean, like we talked about this a couple weeks ago. Somebody on Facebook said, for that person that cut me off the day, while I pulled in front of me, you went to flipping me off. You said, You're not hurting anybody but yourself. I mean, nobody around you felt that frustration but you, and you're gonna talk that all day and be mad about it.
Speaker 2The question really is, who are you going to let be in control? Right.
Speaker 4Somebody's gonna be in control.
Speaker 2It's either gonna be it's either gonna be you and you in control of your emotions, it's either gonna be you and God, or you're gonna let the devil have charge of your emotions. I choose to let God have my emotions and cast my cares on him and let him have he can fix what needs to be fixed. I can't. I figured out I can't fix nobody's problems. He can't.
Speaker 4If you think about the story of Stephen and Acts, he you know, he was full of the Holy Ghost, and they were gonna stone him. Now, if you stand in front of me with a handful of rocks and he's fixing them and throw them at me, I probably ain't gonna be real happy. But he was.
SpeakerYeah.
Speaker 4You know, he uh he said, Behold, I see the heavens open and the Son of Man standing on the right hand of God. And when he said that, that made them even madder. And they cried out and he went, and that's when he threw him out of the city and started stoning him. But what did Stephen say? He said, Lord, lay not this sin at to their charge. And when he had said this, he went to sleep.
Speaker 2Sounds a little bit like what Jesus said, don't it?
Speaker 4Mm-hmm.
Speaker 2Forgive them what they know, they know not what they did.
Speaker 4They know what they're doing. He knew exactly what they were gonna do, but God gave him grace. He looked up and he saw the heavens open.
SpeakerYeah.
Speaker 4And then he said, basically said the same thing. Lay not this at their feet.
SpeakerYeah.
Speaker 4And then he went to sleep. Can you just imagine that kind of faith, that kind of grace to know peace. Right. To that kind of peace, that kind of peace, to know what's fixing to happen.
SpeakerYeah.
Speaker 4But like, I win.
Speaker 2Like I said yesterday morning in church. I it's the devil knows if he kills me, I win. Because I told him, I'm like, what you gonna do? The worst thing you can do is kill me. All right. And you can't do that without me allowing at this point. Yeah, I I know who I am, I know what the Bible says, and you can't do it without me allowing you. Well, whenever you get to the point that he can't use death a fear tactic of death, he's like, What what do I do with this one? Because to be I've read where it says that to be absent with the body is to be present with the Lord. You're just getting me there faster. I'm winning much more faster. He's like, Well, don't go.
Speaker 4I'm gonna win this race. Exactly. I I'm gonna win this race. I've I've I've I've read the book.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 4I win.
Speaker 2If I don't lose the faith, if I don't if I don't forsake what I know, I have control, dominion.
Speaker 5We're talking about it. That's right. We we have we can we're called to have dominion over our own thoughts and everything. So and anger goes along with that. Yep. Excuse me, it's all it's all what you do with it. Like like we said, it's all right to be angry.
Speaker 4Mm-hmm. It's what you do with it.
Speaker 5Yeah, it's what you do with it afterwards. Yeah. That's what counts in the eyes of the Lord and how you handle it.
Speaker 4And and I've seen people so, so angry, so angry. Like, you know, working in ER had to take care of psych patients. Oh, yeah. And, you know, they would call Saul a a psych patient now. Yeah, he was tormented. He'd be schizophrenic or bipolar. Right.
Speaker 5And and I'm a firm believer that a lot of these patients that we see have demons in them, and that's the but it come from them opening the door to little men through whatever drug abuse or I'll say that because those five months I was in the hospital after that motorcycle wreck, I befriended a lot of nurses and physical therapists, and they would literally come to our room with Marie and myself in there to hang out to get away from everybody else, and they would tell us, Man, you people down there are crazy. I don't know, why are you so mad? You know what I mean? Like they'd look at me like, Well, aren't you mad? And I was like, Well, you didn't put me in here. No. So why should I be mad with you? Exactly. I said, the only person I got to be mad with was the guy that hit me. I mean, you're doing your job trying to save my life, so why would I want to be mad with you? Yeah. And that tells me right there that all them other people probably did have demons in because I mean they're I'd hear some weird stuff in there. Do you just I mean I can't believe people ain't like that? Grown people. Yeah, grown people. Grown people.
Speaker 2Yeah. Mm-hmm. Well, if somebody just comes and knocks on you to a random person, do you let them move in? No. Okay. You got to vett them. Well, when when when when when anger comes and knocks, you might let it in, but you don't have to let it live there. That's right. You don't let it live there.
Speaker 5You got to show it the way back out.
Speaker 2Somebody comes in my house and uh when they wear out their welcome, I'm on Let Princess bite them in the back of the leg. Yeah, I'll let Princess bite them in the back of the leg.
Speaker 5I'm getting sleepy, it's probably about nine speeches. Let those in goose don't let the door hit you where the good Lord splits you. That's right.
Speaker 4I'm trying to look up this picture.
Speaker 2Control who's in your house.
Speaker 4There was a picture I saw concerning alcohol, and I can describe it. I I don't remember what I saw now, but some artist painted it or drew it, and it's a person with a bottle turned up, and you see the alcohol going into their mouth and down their throat, but then you see the person's head half in the bottle. And it says, This is the end result. Eventually alcohol's gonna take over and control you.
Speaker 5That's right.
Speaker 4Well, you you you hear people say, you know, there's they can't drink clear liquor because they fight when they're well, that's taking control of your mind and causing anger.
Speaker 2What do they call alcohol what do they call alcohol? Spirit. Even I mean the world calls it spirits.
Speaker 5They they I've looked that up before and they started calling it spirits back then because every time somebody started drinking it, they would act like they were had evil spirits in them and stuff.
Speaker 3That's why I guess I got that name spirits.
SpeakerMm-hmm.
Speaker 3So, you know, one thing that anger does is it it'll block you from getting what you're you're supposed to receive from God. I'll show you this. Back it up. I'm going back on what I was talking about a while ago about you know, you'll miss God in the middle of everything that's going on. You're missing what his plan and purpose is for you. That's the reason we're talking about getting out of the house, getting away from people. If you're working with them, get away from them because you're gonna miss God. Here's what happened Um, 2 Kings 5, 11. But Naaman became furious. So Elisha sent a message to him saying, Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be cleansed. But Naaman became furious. What's furious? Anger and went away and said, Indeed, I had I said to myself, he was surely open up to me and stand and call my name the Lord. And he's almost missed out on getting being cleansed of being he almost missed out on what God was gonna do because he got furious, because he didn't like what the man of God said. You know, I've seen that in church. People get mad because what a preacher's saying to them, minister saying to them, Yeah, I'm mad, I don't like that, I'm mad. Well, maybe you need to listen. Because that man of God, maybe what you thought he said. You may need to listen to that man of God and hear from him because he's been praying for you. He's been staying up like you covered a couple weeks ago. That's right. Talking about they've been praying, they've been fasting, they've been getting ready, they've been studying, they've been getting the word ready, and then they're led by the Holy Spirit. You can miss God because you take of offense and you get angry and do that. I mean, you can really Jonah was the same way. He got angry because he God was telling him, forgive a pee, you know, that he wanted to save a city. And Jonah was like, I I don't like them people. I'm angry. I don't like them people. I'm not going there. I'm not doing that.
Speaker 4I'm going the opposite way. Yeah. Let him die. He said, Hold on a second, let me prepare you a fish.
Speaker 3Yeah, let me let me get you away there. I got you expressed. I get you a shortcut. Exactly.
Speaker 2Well, you know, you were talking about Naaman the leopard just a few minutes ago, and this thought came to me. If it Naaman didn't calm himself down. Yeah. It took one of his servants saying, Yeah, look, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, if he had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? Yeah. Yeah. Well, why not do what he said?
Speaker 3Just listen to it.
Speaker 2Why not just listen and do what he said? Yeah. Give it a try. What you got to lose. Yeah, what you got to lose. You're gonna die in your state now? Yeah. What you gonna lose? Another part of your body in the water.
Speaker 3Yeah, that's what he's saying.
Speaker 5You know, the Bible tells us how to deal with anger anyway. Pray before reacting, listen before speaking, forgive as Christ forgave, seek peace whenever possible, and let the Holy Spirit produce self-control. Galatians 5, 22 and 23 tells us, but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Mm-hmm. Against such there is no law.
Speaker 2Yep. Mm-hmm.
SpeakerMm-hmm.
Speaker 2Psalms 37-8 says, Cease from anger, forsake wrath, and fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. Right. Mm-hmm. Keep away from all the evil. How many scriptures do you need about not being angry? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Not not getting in wrath, not and and not wanting to do evil.
Speaker 3I think for me, it what gets me so much is not just you reading the scriptures, but seeing examples of how people miss God. Look at, I mean, the picture in the mist. Look at the older brother, the prodigal son. He got angry at his father because he was brought him in and he almost missed the whole entire celebration, the whole entire thing, because he got angry. And that's the thing. I see people all the time, you're missing God because you let anger in, and now you know you could be used such a great way.
Speaker 2The fatted calf belonged to the other son. Right. Because he had already given him his inheritance too. Yeah.
Speaker 4What do you tell him? You've been here. Yeah, you've been your party. Oh you could have had your party anytime you want it. It's yours. It's yours. You could have had it. Exactly. I just gilled your fatted calf for you. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 5The word anger appears approximately 230 to 250 times in many English Bible translations, which is that yes, anger, wrath, furious, fury, rage, you know, and and some form of the word. It can be and it's discussed over well over 500 times. Yeah. That means it's important. That's right. Anytime something comes in there more than once, it's very important. That's right. Especially when you see it from the old testament and then see it again in the new testament.
Speaker 4Well, you he was talking about what people miss. I mean talk to the rock. He smite well, you smoked rock. Now you're gonna lose the blessings you were gonna get because you didn't listen. Your anger has made you miss a blessing.
Speaker 3And Moses had a lot of anger problems, but didn't he break the Ten Commandments? Yes out of anger. He's the first man broke all ten at once. I mean, didn't he throw them suckers down because he was angry? Broke all ten at once. Exactly.
Speaker 2I mean, you know, it costs and melded this man melded the golden cap and made him drink it. Yeah.
Speaker 3He had some anger issues. Okay. And God, but let me say this, but God still used him right. Exactly. God still used him even throughout all his flaws, throughout everything he'd done, God still used him. And but it cost him something. It cost him his ticket to the promised land.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 3And then he also had to go write them Ten Commandments.
Speaker 2God wrote them the first time. And then he had to go chisel them.
Speaker 5Yeah. And so Hey, that goes back to thinking about the hammer a while ago. Man throw the hammer, now you got to go pick it up. He threw them and broke them. Now you got to write an hammer.
Speaker 2I've done it for you the first time.
Speaker 4Yeah, and people don't think about it. If you say, yeah, then Moses had to rewrite them. Oh, yeah, that's easy. It's just writing it. No, that was with the I don't even know. Then it had like a rock in a chisel or something. I don't know what kind of hammer they would have been.
Speaker 2That's that's an interesting thing. Yeah, I mean it had some brass and gold and stuff.
Speaker 5I mean, that wasn't held up against the rock. Like steel. It might have been another rock. Yeah. A harder rock.
Speaker 4Mm-hmm. But it had to have been.
SpeakerYeah.
Speaker 4Now we can go somewhere on the rock too, if you want to talk about the rock. Yeah. But there's there's example after example of anger, how to deal with it. Righteous anger, unrighteous anger. Missing God because of anger.
Speaker 2Well, you know, if Joseph had have chosen to get angry, look at what he'd have missed, but yet he chose chose to trust God. I mean, okay, I'm sorry, but if my brothers had sold me into slavery, I'd have had a little bit of a problem. Yeah, I'd have been if a woman had had me thrown in for false accusations in prison, I'd have had a problem. And when they needed me, I might not have been as good as Joseph. I probably would be now.
Speaker 4But his circumstances that he didn't get mad at.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 4So when they sold him into slavery, that circumstance put him where he needed what you meant for evil.
Speaker 2God meant for good. Exactly.
Speaker 5And that's something my analogy, I mean Marvin Ray use it a lot around here in all this traffic. Like she was somebody pull out in front of me, and I had a slow down, and I get mad. And she's like, you know what? God probably just put that person there because around that corner somebody could talk about me, Ray. You know what I mean? Don't talk about me. That's why I'm saying though. It was like things happen for a reason. Mm-hmm. Exactly. I mean, that person pulling out in front of you and slowing you down five miles an hour might have saved your life two miles down the road.
Speaker 4When I was in nursing school, and this has been a minute ago, because I've been nursing like 17 years. When I was in nursing school, I was running late. And I don't remember why I was running late now, but I was mad. I was so mad for about five minutes. I left home and I'm mad, and I'm trying to speed up to make up time to get to class so they don't lock the door before I get there. And I come to the bypass outside of Kingsville. I was going to James Front, and a car ran the red light right in front of me. Probably doing 65 or 70. Just had I left on time or made up enough time to get through that intersection on my green light, I'd have wrecked right there. I was mad because God put something in my way to stop me from being in that wreck. Right. And we battle not against, you know, we I mean, this is you know, principalities. I mean, we're yeah, we're not we're not fighting people.
Speaker 5No. You know. That's been a good one. Mm-hmm. Yeah. I think we all got a lot to learn about anger every day.
Speaker 2I thought you looked like you had something else you needed to say other closed up shop.
Speaker 5Yeah. I can't remember scriptures. That's probably one part of my prayer every morning. Lord, please control my anger.
Speaker 4Well you know, Daniel prayed. And when he got his answer, after twenty one days, the angel said, Your answer was released on day one when you first tried. Yeah. But the prince of Persia, so there was a battle in the heavenlies that took twenty-one days. He held on to get his answer. That's right. And I think part of our problem is we don't hold on to get to our answer that's coming to us. It's on the way. We're too impatient. Exactly. We're human.
Speaker 2I see that a lot of times, people that say, Well, I'm believing God for this. Two months later, we'll must not have been God. No, these things I've been believing God for for ten years, buddy.
Speaker 5We've talked about this on a previous podcast about people asking God for things and just sitting there and waiting. I heard an analogy yesterday. I was like, man, I got to start using that every time somebody says, Well, I'm just waiting on God. What are you doing while you're waiting? No, listen to this. You ever leaned on that shovel and expected the hole to get dug? No, you got to make a scoop. Yeah. You got to start using that shovel. You can't lean on it hole. You can't lean on that shovel and wait on and wait on the hole to appear. You got to use it. Yeah. Start doing some more. The same way using these verses in these Bibles to get our lives straight and get on track.
SpeakerMm-hmm. Yeah.
Speaker 5That was pretty good.
Speaker 2Well, waiting that goes right with your faith. Yeah, that's right. Waiting as service. Like digging that hole.
SpeakerMm-hmm.
Speaker 2That's right.
Speaker 5God's waiting on you.
SpeakerMm-hmm.
Speaker 5Has it been a good one? As usual I got a Bible verse I'm gonna read at the end and John Paul's gonna close us out with a word of prayer. My last verse tonight is Jeremiah seventeen verses five through eight verses Thus says the Lord, cursed is the man who trust in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord, for he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit departs places in the wilderness and a salt land which is not inhabited. Blessed is the man who trust in the Lord, and whose hope is in the Lord, for he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, where it spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.
Speaker 4Before he prays, deep dive into that one. Before he prays. That's right. We're talking about that. We were talking about that.
Speaker 2So on the way down here.
Speaker 4During praise and worship yesterday, I had a vision that I became a tree and the roots grew out from me, the limbs grew up from me, and I couldn't figure out what it meant. And I told my wife, and we're talking, and anyways, but this morning or last night I was praying trying to get an answer, and that verse came to me. Tree planted by the living waters that bring forth fruit in the season. On the way down, I told John Paul about it this morning. Me and Chris talked. I told John about it, and just John said the first thing I thought when you said something about the tree was that verse where he told you about. And now here we are, you're the fourth person.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Speaker 4There's your sign. Yes, sir.
Speaker 5It's real. You need a sign?
Speaker 3You still need one? You got it. You got it.
Speaker 5I put this on here four days ago, maybe.
Speaker 3Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 5Four days ago.
Speaker 3God knew.
Speaker 4Yeah. It's amazing how God works.
Speaker 3He knew. Mm-hmm. He does know. He ain't got to ask you no more. He he got you.
Speaker 4You need another one, brother. You want another sign? You need another one. Now what are we supposed to do with that tree? Yeah. Mm-hmm. And so bears fruit. Exactly. Bear fruit in my season. Yeah.
