Did you get saved or did you get religion? Which one was it? I say in church. Walking down the aisle and saying a sinner's prayer don't make you no more saved than going in a bar and makes you a donkey.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02It's what you do when you leave there. Yes, you need to repent. You need to say the sinner's prayer. But it is important that you take him home with you.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02And that you start a relationship. Because without a relationship, there is no change.
SPEAKER_05Welcome to the Testament Faith Podcast. I'm Ray Bratchall, and joining me as usual is my good buddies, John Paul Murphy, Daniel Bill, and John Quinn from the Word of Faith Ministries out of Keenansville, North Carolina. And tonight's topic is repentance, turning back to God. The key thing to that repentance is more than just a feeling sorry for sin. It is a change of your heart and mind that results in turning away from sin and turning towards God in faith and obedience.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm. That's right.
SPEAKER_05And the first scripture I want to read tonight is Acts three, verse 19. Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blottered out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. And you know, I look at things today on social media in Walmart and Hungiepool, Lowe's, wherever else you go. Oh God. Oh yeah. And it's like, you know, I hear people calling themselves Christians, but I don't see them acting like Christians. And once we decide to be a Christian, that repentance.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I mean, we're all gonna sin. We're all gonna sin. And it don't matter. Sin to me is a sin. But what you do after that sin is that repentance. And to me, that's what counts to call yourself a Christian. Because if I mean if you slip up, say a cuss word or have an angry thought or whatever, I mean, if you, you know, you got to go right back and say, Lord, please forgive me for doing that. Yeah. And that's for that repentance. I mean, that's my key takeaway on that, even though we got a lot more Bible verses to go over.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Mm-hmm. But you notice the order it's there in that scripture, it says, Repent ye thereforth and be converted. That's right. That your sins may be blotted out. So that means it's, you know, we all know that washes away your sins. And then the next part of it, when times are refreshing. So notice most people want to be refreshed. Yep.
SPEAKER_05That's right.
SPEAKER_03They want the refreshing. They like that part of the scripture, but they don't like the first part of repent first. Repent first.
SPEAKER_02They want salvation without repentance. That's right.
SPEAKER_03They want salvation without repentance. You've got to be, you know, clean to slate, and you know, repentance is all about, you know, changing directions. You know, once it's a change of mind and then change directions, a turnaround, it's a completely different thinking. Right. You know, you've got to change your thinking, your thought pattern, because it's not just I'm not gonna do that no more. It's a way of changing your whole entire I'm I'm not going back to that, you know, and it changes that completely.
SPEAKER_02Luke 13 3 says, uh, I tell you, nay, but except you repent, you shall shall all likewise perish. Right. Matthew 4.17, from the time Jesus began to preach to preach and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. I mean Jesus never preached anywhere, just believe whatever you want or continue however you want.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he didn't give it an option either. It wasn't optional on the table if you're going to repent or not. It was repent or you'll perish. Yeah. I mean, it wasn't optional. And a lot of people look at it as like an optionable thing, like, you know, well, I'll do it, you know.
SPEAKER_05And that's where all this affirming stuff comes out too, and you go over these churches that are starting to affirm. It's like, how can you do that when the Bible tells us we had to repeat?
SPEAKER_03I mean, maybe they need to read the book of uh Revelations. Yeah. Well, maybe they just need to read the book of the How many churches got a F how many got a F. Yeah. Because look at that. That whole book of Revelations is in there. Right. He was he was getting on the churches. That's right. I will remove your candle from the lamp stand.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah. I mean, this whole book though was about repentance. Even from the beginning.
SPEAKER_03I mean, we're all the churches that were doing wrong. I mean, he was on them in the book of Revelations. Like if you can see Paul in the books he wrote, he was on them too. But now there's also things.
SPEAKER_04He was pretty thick. So if you look at Acts 17, 30, it said, In the times of this ignorance, God winked at, he overlooked it. But now commandeth all men everywhere to repent. So what was going on here when when Paul was writing this, the people they were talking to didn't know what they didn't know, and they were worshiping false gods.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So Paul was here preaching to them, right? This is how it's supposed to be. This is what you're supposed to do. He's kind of overlooked it, but not anymore. Because now you know what you're doing. You know better to do. Exactly. So we should walk upright and holy with the knowledge that we have.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, Daddy used to when it uh Daddy used to say, you know, um, he said, Are you are you repenting or apologizing?
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02He said, There's a difference. He said, Are you sorry or are you sorry you got caught? Right. Yeah, so when you repent, it doesn't matter what means I'm turning away.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_02I'm turning away from sin and turning toward God.
SPEAKER_04You know, when we live a repentant life, a repentant life is not a life of constant defeat.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04It's it's living with an open heart that's tender towards the Lord, that hears from God, and quickly confesses our sins and turns away, like he was just saying.
SPEAKER_03It's like the dog training me and you do. You know, when you're submitted, you know, there's a difference when you're just snatching on the leash and you're pulling hard, and then there's a dog that's well trained, and he's he's he don't have to pull on. You can barely tug, and he's like, I'm jumping back in. I know it. And that was one thing I told God, you know, like I get that concept because I train dogs. I'm like, you know, I don't want to be snatched around God. I want you to just tug me a little bit. If I get off track, just tug my neck. I will come back into alignment with you. Don't snatch me because I'll be you know that's a repentant heart. That's uh if I've done something wrong, I don't want you to have to get on me and be all hard on me because I I'm not listening. I want to be tender to hear the voice of God and know what I've done wrong and repent. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_05I mean Mark 1, 14 and 15. Now, after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God and saying, The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel.
SPEAKER_03Amen. He was making the way. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03And even before Jesus started preaching, he was preparing the way for prep repentance. You know, he was getting it ready. So this didn't just come along when Jesus came along. This was like setting the forth before Jesus comes along that you need to have a right heart to receive what Jesus is saying. See, people want to hear from Jesus, but they don't want to have a right heart to be able to hear. You can't hear when your heart's not right. You need to have a heart that is open to be able to hear. And that was what John was paving the way with. He was saying, look, you you're gonna have to have a heart to hear this next man that's coming. And you need to be in a place to be able to hear it. Psalms 51, 10.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. Well, you know, people, a lot of people that that have the once saved, always saved thing, they're they're taking grace too far. You can grace, you there's a lot of preachers that that preach grace too far. Because it it grace does not give you a license to sin.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02It Paul said uh in Romans 6 uh 1 and 2, what shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid, how shall how shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein? When you when you accept Jesus, it says you die to yourself. You become a new a new creation. You know, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new. I'm fixing to throw something at you. And and then it so grace is not giving you permission to sin. Grace is actually covering them. Well, it covers them, but it also is what helps you and gives you the power to leave the world and the world's process and the world's way of doing things behind.
SPEAKER_04Right. So I want I'm gonna do my mic draw. Did you get saved or did you get religion? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Which one was it? Yeah, a lot of people do that. Yeah. A lot of people get religion.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's like I'm miss out on being saved. Well, you know, it's like I say in church walking down the aisle and saying a sinner's prayer don't make you no more saved than going in the bar and makes you a donkey. It's what you do when you leave there. Yes, you need to repent. You need to say the center's prayer. Yeah. But it is important that you take him home with you and that you start a relationship because without a relationship, there is no change.
SPEAKER_05I was at Sam's the other day and I know the guy that runs the gas pumps out there, pretty good, known him for a long time. He came up talking to me, and this young girl came up behind us. He said, That girl right there is real religious. I said, Man, that's awesome. As soon as she got the car, I said, My buddy here tells me you're religious. She's probably in her early twenties. She goes, Yeah, I started writing Christian songs and stuff. I'm trying to find somebody to that uh it's in the music business. But then he was like, Well, what religion are you? She looked at him and she goes, I'm not in a religion. I'm I'm in a relationship. I said, Thank you, sister. I said, Thank you. I said, That's what everybody needs to hear. Right here. I said, just as soon as somebody says something to you about a religion, that's what you tell them. I mean, I don't know what if she's Catholic, Baptist, Pentecostal, I don't know what she is, but she said the right thing by saying, I'm in a relationship.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So And she did follow our podcast. I was talking to one of the people at work the other day, and we're talking about the Bible, as we are subject to do. And I said, you know, if you're married, if you and your husband don't ever talk, eventually your relationship suffers. You're still you can still be married, but you're not gonna get along, you're not gonna be happy. That's just the same thing, same thing with your walk with Jesus. He wants a relationship, he wants your prayer, he wants your thoughts, your convictions. And the more you communicate with him, the closer your relationship gets. I said, from the Garden of Eden. Yeah, yeah. He walked with him in the cool day evening. About this time, one of the older gentlemen came up and he started, he joins in with us. And I kind of said, I'm fixing to get him, I'm fixed to get him to preaching because I know who he is. So I kept on, I just kept feeding the bear, and I kept talking to her, and I and next thing you know, he spins around and he just goes at it, and I'm like, here we go. He's fixed to feed us something right now. And he did, he did. But I mean it's it's the relationship.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you wouldn't go down and walk down the aisle in a church and get married and then not take that person home with you. Right. No, no, no. You know, that that's the point. You know, what John said a while ago, the point into, you know, you don't go down the aisle.
SPEAKER_02Of course, you might wish you hadn't have taken them off.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you don't go down a walk down the aisle and get married to somebody and then get in separate cars and say, I'll see you later. Right. And and you don't talk to them no more. When you get that, when you go down to the front to get saved, you repent of your sins. Well, and then you go home and make a relationship with him, and it shouldn't be waiting until the next Sunday to see them because you wouldn't wait the next Sunday to see who you just got married with. That's not going to be really good.
SPEAKER_02You know, we we have businesses that we're partners in. And the ones that are partners in business, we talk every day. Because what kind of what kind of terrible business would we run if just one was making a decision and everybody else was just following the decision one person makes. That's what your life is. Whenever you're running things, you're you're don't it don't be surprised when your business fails if you're the one running things. And you never you never consult.
SPEAKER_04So the other day, me and me and Christy were having some issues and it was my fault, and I'll admit it. So I went to her and I said, Babe, I'm supposed to live a repentant life, and I'm supposed to repent of things. So I'm gonna tell you, I'm upset with you because I asked you this, this, this, and this. And uh just I mean it was simple stuff, but it kind of hurt my feelings, and I said, I'm supposed to tell you I'm sorry, that I feel the way I feel. And you don't have to tell me you're sorry, you don't have to apologize. That's not what this is about. This is about me letting you know what's going on and that I'm sorry for it. And life's been better ever since because I repented of the way I felt. It's the same thing when you're repenting your sins. You're going to God, you say, I'm repenting of my sins, I did this wrong. And we're getting something out of that relationship because we're saved and we and you know we're living upright and holy.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_02But it's our job to repent communication, you know what he wants. You you learn what he expects. It says, My sheep know my voice, and a stranger they will not follow.
SPEAKER_04In in Proverbs 2813, going to your business reference, it says, He that coveth his sins shall not prosper. But whosoever confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
SPEAKER_02Ephesians four twenty-two through twenty-four. That ye put off former concer put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to deceitful lust, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that ye put on the new man which is after God, is created in righteousness and to true holiness. You can't keep dressing the new man in the old man's clothes. No. No. They want Jesus as a savior, but they don't want him as Lord. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_05Exactly. I mean that's like that now you used on our last podcast. You can't put a oh you can drink bar in a AE meeting. No. Yeah. No, no. You can't. I mean, you got to make your mind up. If you're gonna come to the Lord, you gotta do everything you can not to sin. Like I said, we're all gonna sin. We're all gonna fall short fall short of the glory of God. But it's that repentance and coming back and asking for forgiveness and stay in that relationship.
SPEAKER_04And he'll let you know that you need to. In Revelation in Revelation 3 19, he said, As many as I love. As many as I love.
SPEAKER_05That's right. I was gonna read Joel 2, verses 12 and 13. Now therefore says the Lord, turn to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and with mourning. So rend your heart and not your garments, return to the Lord.
SPEAKER_04And the rest of that verse says, I rebuke and chasten, be zealous therefore. Be happy. Be happy that I'm chastening you and repent. That's right.
SPEAKER_02Well, we need his correction because without his correction, we go astray. That's right.
SPEAKER_01That's right.
SPEAKER_02That's like if I'm doing something wrong and somebody tells me I'm doing something wrong, first off, I pray about it and make sure I was doing it wrong. Because I'm not just gonna take your word for it. Right. But you know, if somebody tells me I'm doing something wrong and I realize I am, then I'm I'm like, yeah, I I see where I was. I don't get mad because they corrected me. I I try to change if that if I need to.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Well, that's like I I tell people all the time, they're like, how do I know that I'm going to the right place? How do I know that the preacher standing in front of me is the person I should listen to? And I said, right here. That right there.
SPEAKER_02I said, get that move the spirit.
SPEAKER_04And that's why we use so many verses when we're doing the podcast or when we're preaching, because we want to we want to try your brains. We want you to look it up, we want you to research it. Yeah. You know, it this isn't, you know, Daniel 111, as I say as I do.
SPEAKER_05You know, it was actually Daniel 111. That's one day I'm hoping we can get more organized and I can pop them up on the screen as we say them. That way people can go back and look at them themselves. Yeah. Instead of trying to rewind and say, What do you say? Yeah. They can pause it and see the verse.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I tell everybody every every sermon I preach, I tell them getting close to the end of the service, I said if if anybody wants the verses I used, I've got a copy of them. Yeah. I can give them to you, and it gives you the verses. You can go home and read them at your leisure.
SPEAKER_05We went on. And what brought this up, I wanted to do this topic because Friday afternoon I had a drunk photography job and Dahman came to help me. And I said, You come help me, I'll carry you out to eat, you know. I can get my kid to do anything if I say carry them out to eat.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Food motivated.
SPEAKER_05So I mean we we went to Treat motivated. We got to go to something fishy. Oh, okay. Mm-hmm. When we do our podcast on Mondays. Yeah. And we were sitting there and eating and we just got talking about church and everything else. And I mean, that's why I brought that up. I mean, probably the whole time I'm with him, I've talked about repenting and being a Chr what what it means to be a Christian, not just say, Well, I've been baptized, I've been saved. Yeah. Because it's not, you know, once saved, always saved. Change your heart, change your mind. Right. I mean, you know, a lot of people have that thing, once saved, always saved. I didn't it don't work that way. I mean, you have to go back and keep repenting for the little things.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I mean, you look at look at Peter and Judas.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03Peter and Judas. One of them, both of them, both of them did wrong.
SPEAKER_05That's right. But only one of them done right. One of them, one of them repented. That's right. Only one of them repented.
SPEAKER_03That's what I'm saying. You look at them too, you know, Peter denied. Peter denied Jesus. That's right. And I mean, you think these guys were following Jesus. I mean, you know, they were living with Jesus. I mean, bunking with Jesus. They had wherever he was at, they were with him. Yep. Both of them failed. Only one of them repented. Peter had a change of heart and ran back to Jesus. What did he do when he was out there fishing? What is the first one up there on the shore bank was? Who was the first one? It was Peter. He ran back to Jesus. Yeah, because he put his coat back on so they could switch to Jesus. He was coming back to Jesus. I don't know that and I can't prove that. But he got his coat back on either way and ran back to I can't fish with a coat on either. So he ran back. I don't want all that gear on there.
SPEAKER_02They said that back in that day in time garments were expensive. So they would take their clothes off because the water was nasty when they were clear.
SPEAKER_03I'm glad you like that and started the story. That's not my disciples, that's yours. You like that, you stick with them. But Judas ran away from Jesus. Failure doesn't destroy you. It's what you do right after that. That's right. Failing throughout life, because you know, you're you have times that you do mess up, but that's what defies like what you do next. You know, if you if you know, I'm don't have like I say this all the time, I don't have a plan to sin, and I don't have a plan to go out and do anything wrong. That's not that's not who I am. Um but the same thing as you know, Ray saying, there's certain times that I'll come off pretty rough. No way, I can't see that. I come off pretty rough. Not my buddy. Yeah. I'll come off rough. And it's usually the people that's closest to me that catch it. Well, I mean, I think that happens to all of us. Yeah, I mean, that's guarantee you're gonna hurt the people that you're the closest to.
SPEAKER_05See, y'all y'all are lucky, y'all live out in the country. I mean, that's where I came from, but now I'm down here in the city, and my and my temper rises real quick in this traffic.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I mean, it's like to be it's a daily struggle. We've talked about this. I mean, it's every day. I'm like, Lord, please forgive me for what I just said.
SPEAKER_03Well, I can help you get out of it.
SPEAKER_05I did not mean to call that guy an idiot, and I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_03Well, I can help you with that. I don't just move to the country and you won't have these people no more. I can get you out of sin, I can deliver you.
SPEAKER_02I won't only repent for calling somebody an idiot.
SPEAKER_05Let me add my wife, let me add my wife back in the idiot podcast, and let's see if we can get her opinion on that.
SPEAKER_04I'm trying to help you. So in uh James 5 and 16, it says, confess your faults one to another and pray one for another that you may be healed. The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Right. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are. He's like us, nature like us. And he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months. And then he prayed again, it rained, and the earth brought forth a harvest.
SPEAKER_05That's right.
SPEAKER_04Look what a righteous man can do with prayer. I mean, that's one man, but he rep he repented. So he had the same passions we have. That's what it's telling us. So he trespassed against people, people trespassed against him. You repent both ways. Because somebody trespasses against you, it makes you feel some kind of way. That's right. You know, it says, you know, you can be angry, but sin not. So but our prayers uh availeth much, but you have to follow the manual for those things to work. And the manual says to repent, live a repentant life.
SPEAKER_02You know, in uh 1 Peter 2 9, but ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people that should show forth the praises of God, of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. How can you get out of that if you're a peculiar people and a holy nation? How can you go from there that you've been called out of darkness into his marvelous light? How can you say, Well, whatever I do is okay? When you're supposed it says everywhere in the Bible, if you you look at you're supposed to be different. You're not we're so we're in this world, but we're not of this world. And to continue with world. Worldly views, worldly desires, you're still chasing the wrong thing. That's right. Be ye holy. I I've got it somewhere. Be ye holy as I am holy. We shall walk holy and righteous and upright. And that was best I can remember, that was in the old testament.
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm. We're called to do more. That's right. Called to do more. That's another good podcast. It is.
SPEAKER_04I think I saw one somewhere somebody had called to do more.
SPEAKER_05I know on Luke 5, it don't really say anything about what it does have at the end of a repentance, but Jesus answered and said to them, Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. That's right. Having problems with their bud. Yeah. I know I had that problem with my kickstand when I first got this one. I mean that that verse right there, I mean, like I I I think I said that to Domin the other day when we were talking, I was like, you know, Jesus didn't come to sit with a priest and the Pharisees and all that stuff. He came seeking the loathe the lower to lose. I mean he went straight to the fisherman.
SPEAKER_01The lost.
SPEAKER_05That's right. The lost back in that day, if you were a fisherman, you were beneath somebody's foot. I mean, you were like the lower to lose. And they were the ones supplying it loads of the shape.
SPEAKER_03I mean, that's right, yeah. Yep. That's who he seeks out. And that's the same today. I mean, you know, he's the after. It doesn't say he'll leave the 99 and go for the one. That's right.
SPEAKER_05I mean, he's gonna he's not after. I like that analogy too. I mean, a lot of people don't understand that. Yeah. I mean, that one person's worth saving. And that was my whole goal when I started his podcast. If I could just plant one seed and have one person say, Man, we listen to your podcast and I've gone to Jesus. I've done my job.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. I got chill buns, Ray. I got chill buns.
SPEAKER_01That's what we're after.
SPEAKER_04And that's what I'm after. I tell people, you know, if if you see somebody coming that back door of that church and they're a sinner, and you know they're a sinner by their smell, their look, something, whatever. It doesn't matter. Then they need to be here.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_04You know, the response should be, God, welcome, welcome, welcome. We have prayed for you.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, because they came seeking. Exactly. I mean, that's who we're looking for. I mean, we're all sinners, and that's why we're here.
SPEAKER_02I'm not trying to take somebody from somebody else's church. No. No. A lot of times when you get at, you get somebody else's problems.
SPEAKER_04Well, like you just said, he the the whale man doesn't need a physician. No, that's right. I don't I don't need to take somebody from somebody else's church that's where they need to be. That's right. Just getting fed from that order. But the world. Yeah. The sinners. That's right. We we are praying for them to come in.
SPEAKER_03So, you know, one of the greatest ones that had a repentance heart, and then when we're talking about repenting, you know, think about David. David was constantly repenting. Mm-hmm. Yeah. He read Psalms. Yeah, read Psalms. Especially 51.
SPEAKER_05Not interrupted, but I would recommend if you're trying to get in this Bible, go read Psalms and then go read something about the New Testament. Read Proverbs, go read the New Testament. I mean, that's a good place, a good way to start.
SPEAKER_03Create me an old clean heart. So that's in Psalms 10. He's taught this is after adultery, after murder, after deception. David prayed. Create me a clean heart. I'll renew a right spirit within me. David didn't make excuses. So a lot of people want to say, Well, I did this because. Yeah, well, so and so made me do it. I did this, so and so made me do it. I did this because. See, David never did that. That's the reason when you notice that the Bible says David was a man after God's own heart. He never was making excuses. See, Saul made excuses. His other leader made excuses. People made excuses, but he didn't make an excuse. He said, God, forgive me, clean me. That was even before Jesus. Right. This is before Jesus. This is happening, saying, I need a right heart with you, God. I need you to clean me up. He was asking to be cleansed.
SPEAKER_02I messed up. I need you.
SPEAKER_03I need you. I messed up. So you have to understand, you know, even you say, Well, I've done so many things wrong. Some people, you know, I hear this in church. Well, I've done a lot wrong. You just don't know what all I've done. And I I look at them and say, You've not read the Bible. I've read the Bible. I've read the Bible and I've seen murders get saved. I've seen a whole entire city of people that was evil called Nineveh. That God sent one man in there to change a whole entire state of the city. That's right. So, you know, it's to bring forth repentance, is doesn't matter. You know, even the king in Nineveh humbled himself and and changed his ways. That's right. So, you know, from the very bottom to the very top, and then in the one of the things that Jesus, even during Jesus' whole message we were talking about earlier, that he was teaching on repentance, even after he was left and ascended and came back, what was then the Great Commission? He was telling, go preach and teach about repentance. That's in the Great Commission. He was telling them, like, this is an important part, you know. So throughout Jesus' whole ministry, I mean, he even gave the prodigal son the story of the prodigal son that he talked about. That, you know, that he, you know, figured out one of the greatest pictures of repentance. He left, he wasted everything, he hit rock bottom, he came to himself, and then he repented and arose and went back to his father. Was like, man, you know, he had a change of mind. You think about this, it's a change of mind, a change of heart, a change of direction. That's right. So change of heart, change of mind, change of direction. Then you then you go back to the father and headed to the father.
SPEAKER_04And he didn't come to the father and say, Hey, I'm your son. I need to be reinstated and reinstalled. Right. He said, I'll be a servant. I'll do the lowest job. Exactly. Exactly. I just want to be in your house. Israel living a repentant life.
SPEAKER_05I I just want to be in the Luke 15 verses eleven through twenty four. Yeah. It's long, but it's worth it. Read it. Then he said, A certain man had two sons, and the younger of them said to his father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_05So he divided to them his livelihood, and not many days after the younger son gathered all together and journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living. But then he had spent all there arose a severe famine in the land that he began to be in won't. Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into the fields to feed swine, and he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything. But then he came to himself and he said, How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough in despair, and I perish with hunger? I will arise and go to my father when say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants, and he arose, came to his father, but then when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him, and the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against you, and in your sight, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. But the father said to his servants, bring the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandal on his feet, and bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry. For his son was dead and is live again. He was lost and is found, and they began to be merry. Man that that right there tells you the son recognized the condition he was in, repented with his father, admitted his sins, he returned, and his father welcomed him. And Jesus does us the same way. Exactly. But you have to admit it, repent, and you're there.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. And watch this, what it said in James 4 and 8. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. When your prodigal son returned, notice what happened. He was drawing nigh to his father, and what does father do? He denied him. Exactly.
SPEAKER_02Well God didn't leave you. No, you left him, exactly. He's right where you left him. Exactly. Here's the thing, it's a one-step turnaround. If you make if you make the first step toward him, he's there. He's already there. He don't he don't have to he's omnipresent. He don't have to come running. No. He's already there. Right, he's there. You just you just reconnecting. Yeah, I mean that's that's like being mad because you don't have Wi-Fi whenever you've unplugged a router.
SPEAKER_05Right. I mean that that whole parable though illustrates God's heart towards a repentant center. Exactly.
SPEAKER_04Because the whole thing, he the the prodigal son is us. Yeah. And we're repenting to the Father who graciously, willingly, lovingly, and longingly wants us back.
SPEAKER_05I mean, you know, that weren't that whole parable because you got the whole other part about the son being like, Why are you doing that to him? He went and wasted everything. I stayed here with you.
SPEAKER_02Well that it says that the only impardonable sin, I mean, is blasphemy.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02And most people don't have enough sense to even know what that is.
SPEAKER_04In Hagai 1 5, it says, Now therefore, thus say the Lord of hosts, consider your ways. Consider your ways.
SPEAKER_02Think about what you're doing.
SPEAKER_04In 2 Corinthians 13 and 5, it says, Examine yourselves whether ye be in faith, prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates. Now it does say somewhere by the lawn, I don't have the verse pulled up, but it can turn you over to a reprobate mind, which is, you know, when when he keeps chasing you, telling you you're doing wrong, but you keep doing it, he can turn you over to a reprobate mind. So he's saying there, unless you're a reprobate, you can prove yourself. You can know what you're doing, because I can tell you when I do wrong, I know I've done wrong. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02There's no doubt in my mind. I know. But there's a time where you can get far enough away that you don't feel the tugging like you did. You don't you don't feel the pulling on your heartstring like you did. Because the more you the further you separate yourself from him, the less sensitivity.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm. There you go.
SPEAKER_02That's a good way to put it. The less sensitivity to him you have.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02And without that sensitivity, it's easier to get further away.
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm. It is. That's right. I mean I've heard I feel like I know I've been there.
SPEAKER_03I feel like all of us have been there. It's a relationship that you've let gone cold. Right. Because when you first started out in a relationship, man, you were hot to trot. That's right. Man, you did everything you could in. Get on your best lump.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, man, I'm gonna look good, smell good. Well, like Daniel was saying a while ago about a relationship with your wife, it's the same way. If you don't communicate and stay communicating with one another, then you you start to fall apart. And keep that first love. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And the more first, that hot, hot, passionate love to keep that.
SPEAKER_02That's passionate on that first day that you ain't got nothing made to eat on the rest of the week. Yeah, you spend it all there.
SPEAKER_05Honey, I hope you like the dollar of me and you have to.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. But to show Jesus' forgiveness to anybody, look at the woman caught in adultery. John 8. And he looked at her and they continue asking him, you know, they were like, You she needs to she needs to be stoned. Right. And he told her, Go and sin no more. Grace doesn't ignore sin. Grace empowers you for a change. It empowers you to change. That's what it's like. And it gives you a power to change. It's showing you that the love of God is strong enough here for you to be able to change. I'm not beating you down, but I'm showing you my love. I'm showing you my grace, and now you're able to go change. He's like, go and sin no more.
SPEAKER_02But look at the ones that were pointing the finger at him.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02I heard. He's like, hold on. He's like, which one he wrote on the ground? He's like, so whichever one of you is without sin, why don't you be the first to throw a stone? And he was the only one that didn't get to throw a stone. And theologians.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I've heard theologians say, you know, we we think that when he knelt down, he wrote this on the ground. I was thinking, you know, if there if this is an adulterous woman, I wonder if what he wrote on the ground was women's names. And every one of the men there was like, yeah, I know Anne. I mean guess what? Yeah, I I I know Susan. I gotta go somewhere else, you know.
SPEAKER_05And there's no telling how many of them men had probably been with that woman that was they were trying to want to stone. Oh Lord. It doesn't specifically what he was writing down right now. He was writing all down the men's names that had been with that woman that they're accusing of being adultery.
SPEAKER_02I always wondered why, if she was caught in the act of adultery, why didn't they bring the man too? That's right. He just is guilty. That's what I was saying. I I I couldn't figure that one out.
SPEAKER_05It might have been one of them. According to Moses' law, she should be stoned.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I love that parable.
SPEAKER_03I'll probably use that one more talking with people than anything. Then think about the thief on the cross. One conversation, one change of heart, one confession. That's right. And Jesus said, Today you shall be with me in paradise. Repentance can happen in a moment.
SPEAKER_05In a moment.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. I got chill bumps on me right now. Repentance can happen in a moment. It changed for that man. That was going to go to hell.
SPEAKER_04He still had breath in his body.
SPEAKER_03That's right. And it changed for him to be in paradise with Jesus. Today. Today you'll be with me. That's right. It changed just like that. So you're not too far gone. This man was about to die, and he gave a moment in a notice and was gone.
SPEAKER_04You know what I say? God is the on-time God, but the devil's always early. That's right. The devil put that guy on the cross. The devil was early. Yeah. But in some time. It was going to be right every time. Exactly.
SPEAKER_05And that's why I say it's so important. You don't never know when your day is coming. Don't never know. And I've seen so many people, including some of my family members, laying right there in the hospital, getting ready to take their last breath, except the Lord. I mean, because it goes right back. And some people say, well, no, they didn't ever get baptized now. And look how that man on the cross. Did he get baptized next time? Tell me where the bucket of water was. That's right.
SPEAKER_03Did it rain on him? That's right. How did he get baptized on the cross?
SPEAKER_05I'm saying you should be baptized if you do it early enough. Go get baptized. But it I mean it's never too late.
SPEAKER_04So in Ezekiel 18, verse 30, therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, everyone according to his ways, saith the Lord God, repent and turn yourselves from all your transgressions, so iniquity shall not be your ruin. So like you said a while ago, confess your sins and repent. Don't just be sorry. Don't say, All right, because you know, when I was a younger man, uh I was smoking and I told Daddy when that's well, I've quit smoking. Well, a week, two weeks later he saw me smoking and he said, Uh I guess you didn't quit, I guess you just stopped. Stopped for a little while. Well, you quit, but then you quit quitting.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's right. It's easier to quit quitting than it is to actually quit.
SPEAKER_05No, I said I quit until I get until I get to the store and get another pack or another can.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. But so that's what it said. You need to repent and turn from it so that transgression doesn't become your undoing. That's right. This is a this is a user's manual for your life.
SPEAKER_02The best instruction book that's ever been written. Exactly. What does the Bible say? Be sure your sin will find you out. That's right. It will. You can't run from it. I mean, I we were talking about this this morning about how many different ministers have been caught in scandals like adultery, money scandals. I'm like I'm fixing to get mad again. How can you, as a as a leader, that's like telling me that's like coming after the splinter in my eye with a plank in yours. That's right. Get your house in order before you come trying to straighten my own.
SPEAKER_04That causes people to not trust the church. Exactly. And to not trust Jesus, because these are supposed to be men of faith, the men of God. Is men. And then people stay outside in the world and they'll die and go to hell because of your sorriness and your own my, my, my, my, my. You know who else was I in the Bible? He said it five times. I will set my throne. I will, I will. That was the devil himself.
SPEAKER_02I talked about that yesterday in church.
SPEAKER_05A lot of people too look down on, I feel like look down on us Christians because they don't know this Bible. They don't know that we're all will fall short, short of the glory of God and we're all sins. But yet we're on here and out there trying to tell people to repent of their sins. But the thing is we got to let them know too, and we're trying to explain to them that you know we're all gonna be sinners. But the part of it is that repentance and being able to ask the Lord to forgive you for their sins and continue to do it.
SPEAKER_04And according to that book, those men can repent of their sins and turn from their ways.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_04But the damage they're doing to the world, I punch them in the face.
SPEAKER_03And the one thing that people need to do, like you know, our viewers and stuff, is to show God, show who God is. You want to bring forth repentance to somebody's life, the one true way, and I'm back it up in scripture in just a second, but I'm gonna lead out with this, and I'm gonna bring it around. If you live a life that produces God, and you can show Christ through your life, it'll start bringing others around you to repentance because what really brings repentance for anybody is to see the God in you coming alive. When you have a real encounter with God, it produces repentance. Look at um Isaiah 6. It cover he talks of this, and in the year of Q King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on his throne high and lifted up, and his train of his robe filled the tent temple, and above the saffron which you and six wings, and two covered his face, and two covered his feet, and two flew. And when he cried out to another, Holy, holy is the Lord God of host host, the whole earth is filled with his glory. I'm mixing to get to the part of it. I'm gonna skip down to verse five. Then he said, Woe was to me. This is what Oziah said, Then I said, Woe is unto me, for I am undone, because I am a man with unclean lips, and I dwelt in the midst of people with unclean lips. For my eyes have seen the king, the Lord of hosts. Even uh Isaiah, the prophet, said, When he really had an encounter with God, he said, I'm undone. My lips are unclean. I I'm not I'm that's what brings forth repentance when people see God and they should see God in you because Christ lives inside of you should be the representative that makes people say, Oh my, I'm not where I should be at. I I I you know that's that's what did you buy your fruit. Yeah, you you it'll start bringing other people to repentance, just like you at your word. You know, you've seen the change because they've seen the change in you. You're starting to bring the word and they see that, and it starts bringing forth fruit. It brings in your tree was bearing fruit, and now you bear much more fruit because your seeds fell on the ground, and now they're bringing up other fruit that comes around you. That's what you're called to do as a Christian. You know, and it'll bring forth repentance all around you because you had a prepentant heart and then it spreads like wildfire.
SPEAKER_04Now let me throw something in your court. Yeah. That's going to hit people really, really, really hard. And I hope it does. I hope it slaps them upside the head. I've heard people say my shadow will never darken the door of a church for whatever reason, whatever wrong the church has done to me. I can't say I've ever heard that one. Do you know what you did when you opened your join outside this morning? You opened the door to your church.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04We are all members of the body. We are the church. When you open the door to walk outside, you open the door to your church. So that person who said they wouldn't darken the door to church with their shadow, they do when they're close to you. This should rub off on them.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. There should be enough on the inside of you that your cup, I'm thinking it even says it's the Bible, your cup run it over.
SPEAKER_04Exactly.
SPEAKER_03You can't keep all of God on the inside of you. There's too much of him to keep him all on the inside of you. Well, you know, he's gonna bubble up out of you just like you were talking about talking to Donovan the other day. You know, you can't keep it all inside of you because God's bubbling up on the inside of you, and he's gonna come out on whoever's around you, and you might not even start on that topic, but a few minutes, you give us a few minutes, it's coming, it's coming out. It's coming out. Because God knows what that person needs to hear, and it's gonna come up out of you.
SPEAKER_05And when I lead in that hospital after my wreck, man, there's no telling how many times I asked Marie for forgiveness.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. You had a repentant heart. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I mean my children. I'm sorry for if I ever see anything crosswages to you, and I know I do it like that. Yeah. Set on a few podcasts, but there's some things come out of my mouth I can I wish I could have took back. Yeah. That I've said to my wife, my kids. I mean, you know, mm hmm.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, exactly. If you read Isaiah fifty five, six and seven, mm hmm, it says, Seek ye the Lord while he may be found. Mm-hmm. Call ye upon him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and unrighteous man his thoughts, and let him return to the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. It didn't say anywhere in that verse that after you got baptized, he would pardon you. It didn't say anywhere in that verse that once you journal joined a church, it would pardon you. It said, Seek ye the Lord while he may be found. And he will abundantly pardon.
SPEAKER_05That's why it goes right back to why I say is so important. You don't never know when your time's coming. I mean, you know, I was baptized when I was probably 14, but when I got that motorcycle wreck down there, I mean the first thing I went to doing was praying and begging, Lord, please save my life. Mm-hmm. If I'm worthy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03The more you the more you get, the closer you get to God, the more you recognize the areas that need to be changed too. So the more that's where this repentance that we're talking about comes in. The more you get closer to God, you realize there's some things that I was doing wrong, you know, and and the more you want to clean up, the more you get closer, because that relationship builds into that you want to be closer to Him and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_05And it goes back to being worldly, because when you're living in the world, you don't see that. Exactly, because the world doesn't care. That's right. The world don't care. The world and the devil want you to be like that. I mean, they don't want you to just go like, well, everybody else is doing it, why can't I do it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05But we got to get, as Christians, we got to get in this Bible and look. And and my problem was, like I said, I was baptized when I was 14, 15 years old, and have read the Bible, but and I knew I was doing wrong. Yeah. But I I weren't willing to admit it. But now I'm very willing to admit it. And I look every day and I see myself starting to go back, and I'm like, nope, I got to get back away from that and I got to back up. Yep. That's worldly and I don't need nothing about it.
SPEAKER_03I don't need it. Job was a perfect example of that. The closer Job got with him, he said, But now my eyes have seen that I have heard thee, but now my eyes have seen thee. Whereforth I adore myself and I re and repent. He started out that, you know, the closer Job got with God, the relationship he had. That's right. It brings forth more and more repentance in Job's life and and came into that. You know, we were talking about earlier, you know, churches, you know, you were talking about all these churches that's had these problems. You know, even church you know, Jesus spoke to the churches in Revelation 2 and 3, and re He was repeatedly telling them that to you, you need to repent. The church. Yeah. The church, you need to repent. You know, uh the Revelations 2, 4 and 5, the you repent because you've you left your first love. Revelations 2, 14 and 16, repent because you've compromised. Revelations 2, 22 and 20 through 22, repent because you're tolerating sin. Revelations 3, 1 and 3. Repent because you're spiritually dead. Revelations 3, 19. Repent because you're lukewarm. He's repentantly telling the churches, so you know, as is Ray's talking, and Daniel was mentioned earlier about churches, you know, you need to be kind of wary about where you're going to church. And I'm not telling you to come to our church or certain churches to go to, you need to get in a church, but you also need to be wary of these examples in Revelations 2 through 3 to read them and see, okay, has this church more about what they're doing? Are they building up themselves? Are they more about uplifting themselves? Because the one thing like I've told Ray and Daniel plenty of times is it's not about me. I mean, like when I'm helping Ray, you know, we're lifting up this podcast, it's not about me. I want the kingdom of God to be magnified. That's the only thing. My goal and mission is the kingdom of God to be magnified. I don't want to ever hear anybody say, like in Revelation 2, 4, and 5, he's left his first love. He's more, you know. I don't want to be compromised. I don't want to be a tolerating sin, you know. I don't want to be spiritually dead, and I don't want to be lukewarm. So that's something that, you know, you need to be uh, as many of you I've loved, I rebuke and chastise, be zealous therefore, and repent. I think we might have read that one earlier, rev uh Revelation 3.19. Mm-hmm. Yeah. So, you know, that's it's good to hear it again, too, if you want to be one more time for the ones in the back. Yeah, yeah. You've got to be, Dave was talking there and referring to that lukewarmness. You know, when people get comfortable where they're at, they become lukewarm. Yep. You get comfortable, you know, and you see churches get comfortable where they're at. And sometimes God's calling a whole church to repent, a whole body at one time to repent. A whole city. Yeah, you've you've become lukewarm. And I mean, I felt that a couple of years ago about this United States of America. You know, I felt that strong in my spirit about four, five, six years ago that we needed to turn from our wicked ways and repent. And God, and now me and you talk all the time and we talk, and I see a hunger in the young people now that people have had a turnaround and they're coming to Jesus more. Yes, there's evil in the world. Yes, there's evil things happening all over. I know that. But I see with my eyes a hunger for God, like I haven't seen in a long time. I see a repent of heart coming in, but I'm not happy where we're at. We need more, you know. So that's that's the whole point of this thing. And one thing that repentant does is when people repent, it brings forth revival. When you have a repentant heart, it brings forth fresh revival in the nation. It brings fresh revival in a church, it brings fresh revival in your life, it brings fresh revival in.
SPEAKER_05I mean, you said something about love for a God believe. We love him because he first loved us. Mm-hmm. And that's why we should show him that love.
SPEAKER_02Well, you know, Matthew and uh Matthew 7, 21 and 23, it says, Not everyone that says to me, Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. Right. But he that doth the will of my father which is in heaven. In other words, that we're talking about repentance. We're talking about that that's Jesus saying, Look, everybody that says I'm Lord, it ain't gonna be the one that makes it. Everybody that says it, it's him that does the will of my father. Right. It's him that follows after us. What was what did Jesus say that it was the work you asked what the work that you should do that you should inherit the kingdom? Believe on the one he has sent. That's the work we're supposed to do. Put our trust in the one that he has sent. Well, that requires that what we were talking about a relationship while ago. And what you mentioned a while ago, you know, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Yes, at one point in time we all sinned and came short of the glory of God. But here's what God expects. God expects for us to put him first. I have no other gods before me. We talked about that relationship while ago. Well, it says in the Bible to pray always without speech. Well, here's the thing. I've learned something. If I'm continually in prayer, I'm not in sin.
SPEAKER_01That's right.
SPEAKER_02Because it is hard to sin when you're praying. So you tell me you're sinning when you're praying, I'm gonna tell you how that you're dedicated. That's like sinning in church. That's right. You're sinning in church on Sunday morning, you're dedicated because the word of God is going out. You're a dedicated sinner. I'm gonna tell you, I'm probably gonna give you a hand clap and say, Congratulations. You're more committed than anybody I've seen.
SPEAKER_03I've heard ministers say that in church, and they're like, you're even sinning now. And I'm like, what am I doing? Whose mail are you reading? Who's standing in here? Like me. What am I doing? I I thought I had my hands lifted up. I'm talking about my belly.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Matthew. In Matthew 3.8, it says, Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance. What that means is if you're really repenting, the fruits that you bear will show that you've repented. Well, when you repent if nothing changes, yeah. If nothing changes, nothing changes. That's right. Like I said, the more you do, the more you do. And science even says an oxygen in motion tends to stay in motion, octurite rest tends to stay at rest. If you're telling people about Jesus and doing what we're supposed to do and spreading the good word, then you'll keep doing it and you'll do it more. The more you do, the bolder you'll get.
SPEAKER_03Yep. It's gonna bring forth some fruits. When you, you know, when you when you change, you have a repentant heart. It's not gonna be like, oh, I I repented and I had to know. Everybody around you is gonna know. Yeah. There's gonna be a change, you know, much like when my friend Ray, when he after his accident and I seen his first podcast, I knew there was a difference. Not saying he was a bad, like an evil man. Yeah. Not saying I liked him when we hung out. I mean, we went to Kansas together, we hung out, we hunted together. He was my bird hunting buddy. We we went hunting together. Nothing bad about Ray, but I knew something had changed. You're gonna have evidence that something has changed in your life. True repentance. Yeah, true repentance. Therefore, that's just what you just read in Matthew 3.8. You're gonna, there's gonna be some fruits, is what it's saying. And other people's gonna see the fruits. It's not gonna be like, well, I wonder if they really got it. No, you're gonna know anybody, if you're gonna wonder if they got it, I'd probably say they did.
SPEAKER_02Like the first time a bird dog smells a bird. They got it. They got it.
SPEAKER_04They got it. I don't know where I'm supposed to be now. There'll be a change in direction, a change in conduct, speech, attitude, relationships. And now here's the thing you people will joke around and say such and such left. Well, that's like the trash taking itself out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Well, now I'm gonna go a little deeper. Let me get my shovel. So the people who disappeared because of your relationship with God, so now your relationships are changing. The trash is taking itself out. Those people who were dragging you down and pulling you deeper into sin, they're just gonna exit. They were anchoring out the back of the boat.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I remember family not wanting, my dad was my preacher growing up. I remember some family not wanting him to pray over meals. Daddy told me when I was really young, he said, they won't call me because I'm gonna talk to them about Jesus. They won't answer the phone when I call because I'm gonna talk to them about Jesus. He said, But they're all at the family meals. That's my time to preach to them. That's right. Because they always ask the preacher to pray. Oh, it don't matter where you go. We go to hunting events. That's right. And they'll seek out the preacher in the room to say the blessing. And then, well, it's time for a little sermonette, everybody.
SPEAKER_05Even after my change and doing this podcast, if I go like back to the airfield where you flowers here, plant something good to eat, and they'll go, Ray, you say the blessing? Gladly. Yes, sir. Here we go. Thank you, Jesus. Glad my turn. In restaurants, I don't care where I go now, but gladly. Exactly. That old song is I saw the light. Exactly.
SPEAKER_03I saw the light.
SPEAKER_05That's right.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's like, you know, like, yeah, I'm gonna pray for you. If you ask me to pray for you, I'm gonna pray for you. And I hope somebody four hours over hears it.
SPEAKER_05John Paul was talking about my change after my wreck the other day. The 30th of June was the second year anniversary, and I made a repost. And I just happened to be looking at the dashboard this morning on here and on Facebook, and that post has had 5,874 views.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was one of them.
SPEAKER_05Man, if that'll plant if that'll plant one seed, yeah. Man, that's amazing.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I I saw something the other day, you know, this the story about the footprints in the sand. I heard it a different way. He says, you know, Lord, there's only one set of footprints here, and it's it's kind of difficult. And I'm gonna relate this to me. Yeah. And I said, Well, son, that's where I was carrying you. What about those furrows over yonder? Now, if you ain't from the country, you don't understand. We we plow furs in a field. He said, That's where I drug you. That's right. To bring you on along. I got drugged. I know, I know if I saw my life back behind me, they furrow is in the ground. He didn't give up on me.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I'm the same way every every one of my callers have been stretched out. Yes, sir.
SPEAKER_04Well, mama would grab my ears, so I bet my I bet my spiritual ears are dragging the ground right now. Dumboo. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. I was Toby.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03There you go. There you go. Toby Toby. I was a Toby. I was a Toby. I we have our little bird dogs that don't, when we start them out as puppies, and they don't get started good, and they just stay under your feet and run around. I have a nickname for all of them. I call them Toby because you won't get started and you won't do anything. And you know what you're supposed to do.
SPEAKER_02When Toby figures it out, he's wanted to better be said.
SPEAKER_03I was a Toby. I was like I couldn't get it figured out, and God's like, Come on now. Come on, buddy. Come on, buddy. Tobias.
SPEAKER_04You really are a Toby. Exactly. Come on, buddy. In Psalms 37, 23, it says, The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not utterly be cast down, for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. If you walk righteous, even if you stumble, he's there to catch you. And what better person to have to uphold you than the Lord Jesus Christ Himself?
SPEAKER_05That goes back to the parable of the Providable Son. I mean, he fell on him and kissed his neck. I mean, because he saw him coming back. And the Lord's right there to catch you every time.
SPEAKER_04And remember a while ago you said it's a good place to start for people reading the Bible, Psalm and Proverbs. And let's go to Proverbs 24:16. He says, For a just man falleth seven times and riseth up again. But the wicked shall fall into mischief. So I'm what I might stumble. I mean, the Bible tells me I'm gonna stumble. We all do. We have a we have a fleshly, a carnal body. But we can get back up, we can repent and turn from our ways. We're not falling every now. This doesn't say for a man falls seven times every hour. No, it just says fall seven times, he rises up again. But the wicked man, he falls and goes into it and lives that life.
SPEAKER_05Lives it. Mm-hmm. I've telling my sons too that there's a there's a difference when you sin with intention.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_05And I'm gonna say an accidental sin.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_05When you do something on in with with ill intent, I mean there there's a big difference. And you just slipping up and saying a bad word or having a bad thought about somebody, all of a sudden it cut you off in traffic.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_05But when you're sending pre m premeditated sin, I guess I can call it. Exactly. I mean, there's a big difference. Well the wages of sin is death.
SPEAKER_04So you had pre- some some people have premeditated sin.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_04You know. A repentant life doesn't mean we never fall. That's right. It doesn't mean we don't falter. It just means we're not comfortable with sin.
SPEAKER_05That's why I want a lot of people to get out of this podcast to hear that too.
SPEAKER_03But it does mean change direction. Yeah. We're not going to go with it no more.
SPEAKER_05We've talked about it all the whole purpose of repentant is asking for that forgiveness and not going back to those ways. Doing your worldly best not to go back to those ways. I'm not like I said, you know, we're Christians, we're all gonna slip up. But what you do after that's what counts.
SPEAKER_03Well, if you were on the way to Maine and somebody told you you were on the way to Maine, you were supposed to be going to Miami, Florida, you you don't just say, Oh, except it you turn around and take that first exit you can and get or go back. You don't keep going toward Maine if you're going to Miami. So it's all about you. Turn around and say, I I uh this was the wrong direction. I gotta get back and head the other direction.
SPEAKER_05That's right. That's why that GPS is always telling you. That's the GPS right there. Yeah, exactly. You go past your go past your term with that GPS. What's it do? Redirecting, redirecting, redirecting. Recalculating.
SPEAKER_04That's right. Recalculating root, recalculating root. GPS, God's promises spoken. That's right. That just came to me, by the way. That's a good one. There's another sermon. Yeah, yes, it's coming. I can promise you. I gotta put it in a note, so here you go.
SPEAKER_05God, it's just been a good one. It has been great. Everybody sat satisfied with this one. Yeah. Y'all covered everything?
SPEAKER_04Oh, no, but you know.
SPEAKER_02No, we hear you know we can be in there three or four hours. In first John, I did want to get this one out. First John two, three and four. And hereby we do know that we know him if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him and keepeth not his commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's what that's what this is about. We're we're supposed to keep his commandments, follow him, relationship with him, and that was all I really had to say. I mean, we're s if we know him, we'll follow him.
SPEAKER_05That's right. All right. Well, that's been a good podcast. I've enjoyed it, as usual. I love getting together with you guys and talking about the good Lord Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_04It's a good renewing in the spirit to start the week off.
SPEAKER_05Getting it out there and spreading it with everybody across the world, the interwebs. Millions, and we want millions and millions of people to see this. As usual, I'm gonna close this out with a Bible verse, and then we'll have John Paul close us out with a prayer and a Bible verse I'm gonna read tonight. It's 1 John chapter 1, verse 9. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Just let that sink in for a minute.
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna tell you something. Other people should be feeling what I'm feeling right now. I mean, he's here. He's here today. He's moving amongst us. I I could have been a little bit more than a little bit.
SPEAKER_05Man, I'll get every every Monday night. It's one or two o'clock in the morning if I can get to sleep. Man, I'm so hyped up when we leave out of here. Even though we can go get our belly fulls, I'm still hyped up. Exactly. I mean, I love it, boy.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05All right, John Paul, close out with a prayer, brother.
SPEAKER_03Lord, we thank you today that we were able to gather together and talk about your wonderful thing that you give us is repentance, Lord, as we draw near. And we ask that each one of our viewers that they have a heart that they can be easily pulled to you. Lord, let them be easily, not having to be drugged, but be tugged along to say, Lord, and have a repentance heart just like we have, Lord. And we thank you for as we draw closer to you, you draw closer to us. Yes, Lord. So we thank you today that as we go out, we go out in your power, let this reach many people and touch their lives forever in Jesus' mighty name. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen.
SPEAKER_05Y'all have a blessed week and remember Jesus loves you. So do we. God bless you.
