Yeah. Hello beautiful you tuned in to She's Beyond Elevated with Doctor Kimberly Dunlap. The space where purpose meets power and faith meets execution here. We don't play small, we rise, we heal, and we elevate on every level. So get ready to shift your mindset, reclaim your brilliance, and step into the version of you that's been waiting to emerge. Let's get into it. Hey, beautiful, welcome to She is beyond elevated the very first episode. So this podcast was created for ambitious women, mostly of color, who are really brilliant on paper but desire more. Know that there's more to them. Most if not all of the women that I encounter have dealt with corporate corporate politics on some level and being in the corporate space more than 25 plus years, I have. Walk those journeys. I have experienced all of the things, and so I wanted to create a space where you were safe to have the conversations that aren't being had, where you are safe to feel the things that you're feeling. Then to have someone who is advocating for your success at all times. So let me introduce myself my name is Doctor Kimberly Dunlap I am a premier career and elevation strategist and I'm a speaker. I am a legacy mentor and I. Speak for the women that look like me who have checked all of the boxes. You've done everything right you've got the degree, you've got the job, you you did all of the things and you still feel unfulfilled and I. Have been there and I can relate and I understand. So that's why I'm here. So welcome. I thank you and I do not count it on robbery that you are here. I thank you for sharing this space this time with me. So let's get into it now. Just just to tell you something that actually may surprise you, right? I didn't really start this journey because everything fell apart. I stepped fully into my purpose because everything fell apart. However, on paper, I have by all accounts been. Successful Most people strive to make 6 figures in a year. I have been making six figures. In outside of outside of my business, but incorporate for probably 15 plus years. And at the time that I started in that space, it was unheard of for an African American woman, especially one that dropped out of high school. Went back later on went back. Graduated, I am, I was a teenage mother, I am divorced, all, all of the things. So you didn't see someone that looked like me have the level of success or what was countered to be a success. And I had all of those things. But what happened? Was is, although I had all of those things on paper, I, I just didn't feel fulfilled. It wasn't. I don't want to say that it wasn't enough because I'm very, very grateful of everything, but I felt like I was. I was destined here to do more after losing my eyesight. For more than 17 hours due to a diabetic coma, I started to really, really look at life differently. I had a one year old at the time and my greatest fear was to not ever be able to see her graduate high school. See her graduate high school and. As as my health was starting to be restored and my life was shifting, my mindset started to shift. And it was back in that time when I discovered that you really had the ability to. Draw into your life what you want and some of the things that you don't so. Again, I had all the titles, I did all of the things I have left, been in a position of leadership in every single role that I've ever possessed throughout my 40 plus years, 48 years now and I remember sitting in a Zoom meeting yet another one. Looking at my calendar and it had all of these things that I should be doing or that I needed to get done. And I was thinking to myself like this cannot be it. This cannot be my life right now. And that moment taught me or it or in that moment is when I realized I wasn't. We ate it just for good enough, right? I was created for. Beyond, I was created for the overflow. I was created and I was preserved to be elevated and I had a responsibility to do that. So that is what I did. This episode we're going to talk about why being good isn't good enough anymore, right? We're we're, we're good. I was good in, in in all senses of the word. I was truly good. I got to live where I wanted. I got to drive what I wanted. I wore what I wanted, I bought. What I wanted, I gave my children what I wanted. And out of all of those things, there were nights still that I cried because I knew that it was more to it. I knew I can I can remember sitting in a pool in one of a a performance evaluation and thinking to myself. How dare you? Shrink who I am or attempt to shrink who I am. In this place. And so I knew that it was more So what what I realized is that good is just an applause. You get for subtlety, right? Because let's be real, if you've got your choice. You would be doing excellent, right So. Good. I'm doing good. All right. Think about that. Even when you speak to someone. I'm doing good. I'm well, right? It's it's just enough. However, the moment that you realize that you are destined for great, you are destined or you are destined for excellent, good stops being good enough, right? You followed the rules. I, I, I mean, I'm speaking for myself. You did the work, you went to college, you sacrificed you, you know, skipped parties or, or, or if you're like me who went to school while being a family, further my degree while having a family, I, you know, didn't get to go to the pool with the kids. I just got to sit out by the pool with the kids and, and. With my laptop working because I had a paper, an assignment due on Monday or Sunday night

at 11:

59. And and all of you college

women know that 11:

59 on Sunday has to be done over 4th of July weekend. Even though your entire family is here and you want to be in the pool too. But you make those sacrifices and you sacrifice. Because you want more, you want better. And just to share my story a little bit, I often sign my emails with a Purple Heart. A black square and a sheep. And what that symbolizes for me is I am going to pay homage or I am going to. To exalt the black sheep in me, and I used to identify being a black sheep as a negative. I no longer do that. I look at being a black sheep in my family because I was labeled. Because I desired more than the norm, I went against the grain of what was acceptable in my family. And so because I went against that, I was the outcast. And I don't blame my family. I love my family for, for, for, for all of all of the things I love them for being for shaping me to be that person or the person that I am right now. I love them for that. I, I, I don't have any, any ill feelings because that. Title. Is what got me here Doctor Kimberly Dunlap so I'm OK with the title and and I no longer. Correlate being a black sheep as being negative. That's not my story. I choose not to take to to to to identify with that story.
