A single week can flip a league on its head—this one did. We walk through a tight THL table where every team found a win, top lines started to separate, and a couple of smart (and spicy) trades reset expectations. From Iverson’s scoring burst to assist engines that hint at possession-first systems, we unpack who’s built to win close and who’s still hunting for chemistry across four-game nights.

We get candid about roster strategy: when it’s worth paying up for a star like Wiz, how to balance reliable two-way pieces with ceiling plays, and why timing and transparency on trade blocks shape trust across the league. We also highlight the surprise push from a team many had penciled near the bottom, why the Made Men can lead in goals yet sit mid-pack, and which under-the-radar forwards could sneak into the Rocket Richard race once linemates stabilize. Along the way, we revisit a chaotic overtime loss, laugh-cry at puck physics that turned simple clears into penalties, and lay out the small gameplay choices that reduce randomness and raise your floor.

There’s a meaningful rules update too: a seven-goal deficit now allows a voluntary stop, and a ten-goal margin ends the game automatically. It’s a quality-of-life improvement that preserves energy, respects players, and keeps stat lines from getting silly. We also tackle the jersey contrast debate with the broadcast in mind—when four teams wear red and several lean dark, shoulder color and light-vs-dark choices aren’t cosmetic; they’re essential to clean viewing and fair reads at speed. We pause to acknowledge a tragic event in Rhode Island, reminding our community to check in on each other and keep the space humane.

If you’re tracking THL news, strategy, and storylines, this breakdown brings heat and clarity: standings context, player trends, trade logic, gameplay tweaks, and what to watch next week. Hit follow, share with your line, and drop your dark horse for the Rocket Richard in the comments—who’s about to catch fire?

Welcome And Week One Vibes

SPEAKER_03

All right, all right. Welcome in to another Titan Talk How Wow T session spot at the bar. I'm out. I don't know, Blaine. What are we what exactly are we calling this crew here?

SPEAKER_05

Well, the show's Titan tuck, but I don't know whatever you want to call us.

SPEAKER_04

Fair enough. It's Mr. Block.

SPEAKER_03

Where am I missing? No, I'm the misfit. Anyway. You missed the three of the blog boy up here. How are you guys doing this evening?

SPEAKER_01

Doing alright. How about you, apart from your LG shenanigans?

Standings Snapshot And Scoring Woes

SPEAKER_03

Apart from my absolute LG shenanigans, I'm doing okay. Trying to figure out how the hell my team can only score six goals across the night across four games and still almost win two of them. But that's a whole separate tiree for another day. Week one in the books for the THL. I think we only had did we only have the one night where Shenankins ensued as far as player availability? Or am I missing something?

SPEAKER_04

I think it was only the one.

SPEAKER_03

So not not a terrible night overall. Terrible week overall as I try to get the freaking thing up here. Here's the thing. Alright, so through week one, each team at least has a win. If not two.

SPEAKER_04

Wayne, what crack are you smoking?

SPEAKER_05

Uh I don't know. I'm just glad that uh it seemed like the draft worked out pretty well for me. So the uh that board I made seemed to work.

SPEAKER_03

Right, outside of LeBron carrying the one player there that uh you drafted this year.

SPEAKER_04

Yep. Yeah, Iverson uh doing pretty good. Very solid overall there.

SPEAKER_03

Why where's my thing? Ah, there it is. Alright, and then uh Leblanca, you're only a half game behind, really. You know, 5-2-1 versus 6-2. You doing okay over there at Devil Hawk Land?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, well, we're we've kind of had some trouble scoring sometimes, but I think really we'll we pretty much we'll figure it out. And with the trades we made, probably we'll be fine.

Early Team Assessments And Trends

SPEAKER_03

I mean, for the record, you're only one goal off of Blaine and the bison as far as goals for and they're top of the top of the league.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we we definitely could score way more than what we had though. Fair enough. Yeah, you know, uh good scene. It's good first week. I mean, first week, never really buy into it, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Right. Is everyone still trying to figure out lines and stuff? And then Amtrak's Amtrak squad there sitting nicely in third place at five and three overall. Yeah, missing that one point for the OTL.

SPEAKER_04

You know, not terrible, I would say.

SPEAKER_03

I think they're plus three, that differential, but again, with that being week one, you can't really look too hard into it. Then sitting in fourth is the maid men with the most goals four, oddly enough. I feel like there are a couple beatdowns somewhere though. Because they're only four and three after after the first week.

SPEAKER_05

Their first night was pretty good for them.

SPEAKER_04

Right.

SPEAKER_03

And then last but not least, bringing up the rear is the Canucks and the Firebirds, both with a pair of wins, but the Canucks have an overtime loss, so they get the extra point and are sitting comfortably there. So I mean, I guess LeBon goes start with you. Is there any matchup after kind of seeing the first week play out? Is there any matchup you kind of look forward to as far as being a good matchup every week?

SPEAKER_04

Um I'd say um I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I guess it was a good matchup when we faced either Blaine or really any any team, it was like kind of a close game either way, so it's not really something I could say for sure, like who's the most you know to be like dominant, but like definitely everyone's been pretty competent, uh like competent and playing good.

SPEAKER_03

Like, do you have a particular matchup you're looking forward uh after seeing everyone week one?

SPEAKER_05

Well, I did watch some of the games that we were streaming and I only played the two games Friday as goalie. So I from experience basically it was just LeBlanc's team and Fairy's team.

SPEAKER_03

And then maybe Airtrack is sliding in there every once in a while.

Goalie Debut And Stream Night Mix-Ups

SPEAKER_05

Mm-hmm. Yeah, I was surprised because Ralph put the uh I'm not gonna say it's just Ralph. I didn't check it either. We had the wrong teams for the schedule on Friday. So I thought I was facing the Canucks and the Firebirds as goalie. And then it's on the bottom half to get out of the way, eh? It was my first two games as goalie in the league ever, so yeah, take it against the two low bull lowbrow teams.

SPEAKER_03

I see how it is.

SPEAKER_05

So I'm gonna experiment. I'd rather do it against no offense to them, but the lower teams. Fair enough. That way I don't suck too bad. But it wasn't too bad. The first game we lost, I let in some early ones. And the uh second game I let in one early one and then shut him out in the second period and then let in two like last six minutes.

SPEAKER_04

So he won 73 that second one. It's always a good start there. Alright, let's see. Top goal score, Iverson. So Iverson Yeah, first line that we have, him and sniper with Bedsy is uh pretty solid. Solid, yeah. Actually I don't really see too much there, but yeah, it's Iverson fairy and wolf. Top three goal scorer? What the fuck? On the French there.

SPEAKER_05

Wolf was a good goal scorer for me last season. He led our team, I think. Him at Rocky.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, I know he figured out the LT, but I don't think he's that good yet. Then I I was in Farron Wolf topping points also.

Leaders Board: Goals And Assists

SPEAKER_03

But uh Main Men had some numbers there. Sizzle and CRQ, one-two in the assist column so far.

SPEAKER_04

So again, I think if you score the most goals, the general rule of thumb is you get the most assists on your team somewhere. Trade-wise. Yeah, there are a couple trades.

SPEAKER_03

Couple trades, couple call-ups and downs, a couple TCs, which people were salty about to say the least.

SPEAKER_04

I made two trades.

SPEAKER_05

I didn't really pay attention to much of anyone else.

SPEAKER_03

Fair enough. Yeah, you called up Dry Stale to fill the roster and then dealt off Eastern. Immediately traded him. Just because it had to be done. Uh to get Moonfire Panda, I guess that's an even trade. Yeah. I don't think there's been really any massive blockbuster trades so far. You got the Razor and Man Beast one, which is kind of interesting little swap there.

SPEAKER_04

Although LeBron, can you walk me through the the T Swift trades you guys pulled off?

SPEAKER_01

Um well, we won't we wanted whiz. I had my gripe about that. Why?

SPEAKER_05

Fucking Zurian. Should never give you guys whiz. We don't need an we don't need another Dark Knight team.

SPEAKER_01

That's not, I mean, we're not I don't think we're like that level at all. But no, it's we we're like kinda just wanting whiz, and we wanted to offer whoever he wanted, and he wanted a a winger and a centerslash defenseman. So we were like, okay, well, we'll give you Invisy, who's a very good player, a very very, very good player, and Taylor Swift, who's reliable in the defensive end and in the center position. So really it was a no-brainer to just send it out, and it was a pricey cost, but we got the guy we wanted, and yeah. Now we got Wiz, we got our buddy, and just try to make things work.

SPEAKER_04

Then the they've been picking up Billy the Kid and Rez for Magic Knipes. I don't really understand that one at all. Like Rez is a solid play overall.

SPEAKER_03

Billy the Kid's a temperamental little lad, to say the least. And then those two for you know, Magic Snipes who has shown he can kind of pull his own weight at times.

The Wiz Deal And Roster Philosophy

SPEAKER_04

You know, two cups and so he definitely has the skill, but I just don't really get that one too much. Alright.

SPEAKER_03

Uh I guess my big thing just looking at is how well Amtrak's team is done. I mean, to be honest, I expected them to be baseman or close to basement, but uh they made their own fight, and then to put them above the main men, which is where Fairy is, is a little bit shocking to me. Obviously, I don't know if that's gonna stick, but they have a chance to kind of really make some noise and maybe give LeBlanc a run for his money at some point.

SPEAKER_04

Who?

SPEAKER_03

The Cuckoo's Antrax team there?

SPEAKER_04

Uh I mean, sure.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you could you could say that. I think Blaine would have a better run for his money on against us than the Cuckoo's, but I'm not sleeping on them at all.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, that the way you just phrased it, it sounded like you were kind of saying, guy, they're kind of a no-name team, and I'd rather be facing the bison every night.

SPEAKER_04

Uh no.

SPEAKER_01

Like I said, they're like a they're not a bad team at all. Like it's just I I think that Blaine's team so far has proved better results, and maybe it's just because of a veil how they've been dealing it, but like I think they they're fine.

Surprise Contenders And Respect For Underdogs

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Wayne, any kind of surprises or you know, something unexpected that you've seen so far this season? Not really.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, I expected, I guess, my team being in first. I was not expecting that.

SPEAKER_03

Exactly. I mean, you're probably expecting, you know, top half, maybe two through four, but well, on top of the league, I don't think anyone really predicted that.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think everyone would have predicted the Devil Hawks to be up there, but apparently they shot themselves in the foot and lost in overtime for a game.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, well, it happens. Start of the week.

SPEAKER_03

Those points might come back to haunt you come playoff time.

SPEAKER_01

The overtime loss? Yeah, it was that fucking stupid bullshit that happened where it's like you pay you the like Taylor Swift gets the puck. We win the draw. He tries to pass his immediate turnover, and then like kind of just gets picked off, and then he poke he pokes it, and it just slides like ever so slowly right through our goalies pads and in. It was that was a bad overtime. Like it j like immediately that's how it ended. I was like, okay.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, isn't that like two-thirds of goals in NHL video games that most of the time?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But it's poo-poo.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah, that might be something they need to they need to revisit is the puck physics. Because I was in one of my games, I literally had a guy try to skate around the net. The puck gets caught on the net on his stick and then just goes flying up and out of out of play, and he gets called for a delay of game. It's just like, are you serious right now? Because I think if they tied down that puck physics, it would you know be decent overall.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know if you guys have any opinions on that. Yeah, some of the uh physics just it's it's funny sometimes.

Overtime Heartbreak And Game Physics Rants

SPEAKER_05

I remember the one time I was board checking some defenseman who was behind the net, I was coming from the front of the net. I hit him so hard that he shot the puck up in the air over the boards and got delayed game.

SPEAKER_04

That's actually kind of impressive.

SPEAKER_03

But yeah, I I think it's just some stuff like that where little tweaks and you know, maybe not complete engine overall, because I think the skating physics and the hitting are very on point as far as what it should be. It's just a lot of the more minute stuff that you wouldn't really notice until it actually happens in game.

SPEAKER_04

But I think that's getting getting off off track a little bit.

SPEAKER_03

Um I guess this is the uh therapy corner time of the program where I'm gonna ask you guys what do the firebirds and canucks need to do in order to try to get out of the basement? Because I mean, they're not well in a way yet, but they're very close to being buried already.

SPEAKER_01

But I think they'll be fine. I mean, every time we played against them, it was close games, so it's I think I think they'll be fine.

SPEAKER_03

It was just a one-week blip and now they're gonna kinda put everything together.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Fair enough. I'm not I'm not in their locker rooms, I don't know what the uh the atmosphere is like, I guess, in there. Yeah, that's that's another thing.

SPEAKER_01

And as for the firebirds, well, they did a bunch of trades, so we'll see how they look like in this week, so things will change.

SPEAKER_03

Things will definitely change, and I guess the real question is looking forward a little bit. If you guys want to give me like a dark horse, maybe for the Rocket Richard, because it's a fairly tight one right now with you know, one well-known name, another completely random player, and you know, Wolf. So outside of those three, give me a name that will be in the contest for the Rocket Richard.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I mean it's a really too early to s uh say. I mean, like Blaine said, I was right about BJ Gogin, and of course I am, because that's who he is. I just know that he's just not gonna go uh score some goals when I'm there or when I'm not there. But I mean, Iverson might have a chance. It's still really young into the season. Uh there there can be someone who just out of nowhere, just from now on, will not stop scoring goals. Right.

SPEAKER_03

His name is PMister 3.

SPEAKER_01

That will be the most craziest thing ever if that happened. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I I think I'm top five in points on my team right now.

SPEAKER_04

Well, let me double check it. Yeah, it doesn't really matter right now, anyways. Alright.

Early Rocket Richard Dark Horses

SPEAKER_03

Basically, I mean, is there anything else you guys have noticed over the last week, week and a half that you want to talk about league-wise? Was there a couple of rule changes this afternoon, Blaine, that I missed?

SPEAKER_05

There was a rule change. It was the mercy rule. It is now seven goals, the losing team or the team that's down can quit. And then ten goals is automatic game over. Deficit.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so seven, you can wave the flag by your choice. At ten, it's automatically over.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. Okay, so ten, it's like you the other like the team that scored ten goals has to back out. Well, what happens if they don't?

SPEAKER_04

I don't know. That's actually a good question. Do we punish a team that's losing for wanting to play the game out?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, if it's automatic, then it's like, I mean, someone has to like basically just quit. Right? Like, will stats be affected? Like, say if they score eleven, twelve, and they end the game, will stats only count the ten goals or I think without I think without getting the actual score sheet it'd be hard to know who got that like eleventh goal.

SPEAKER_04

So that means the stats would count. I guess it's more of a like a honor system at that point. Okay. Gotcha.

SPEAKER_05

That was the one sorry, go ahead. Like if you're the team that's up by ten at that point. It if they didn't quit, it should be on you to quit.

unknown

Okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

At that point you already won the game, so nothing's gonna change. Yeah, fair enough.

SPEAKER_03

And then uh I forget, was there so that was the big role change going forward is that automatic ten. But seven you can call it. I feel like I feel like teens might use that as like an additional way, like if they just get absolutely smacked in like the first two periods. They might just call it there and try to reset to get extra rest for the other game of the night. I don't know if you guys think that's a smart idea, dumb.

SPEAKER_04

I think it's fine. Sure, they get some time to collect themselves. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, it doesn't. Fair enough.

SPEAKER_01

Better than getting wrecked and then wrecked again and having Well there'd be like any like discussion about like reviewing the jersey talks.

SPEAKER_03

Would he elaborate on that?

Jersey Rules And Broadcast Clarity

SPEAKER_01

Well, see, I I don't mind the the the the rule about you know it having to be your colors, sure. Like, okay, makes sense. But there there's a couple of things where it's like if it's your alternate, it should be like at least have have to have your colors, but it doesn't have to be, you know, it could be just say the Canucks for Hire can have a blackout jersey or something like that. It's as long as an alternate that's just you know makes sense of where they are. Okay. Or and also the aways, the the thing about like the jersey, you know, not being able to be white on the aways on the white shoulders, I think that's kind of kind of dumb. Especially that the homes can have white shoulders, but not the aways.

SPEAKER_05

To me that doesn't sound great, but as long I agree, as long as there's like black, dark pants.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, exactly. Like if like make the rule where they had they need white pants, like black pants, not like black shoulders.

SPEAKER_04

That that could work.

SPEAKER_03

I I guess the main reason why the shoulder thing was there is because when I try the broadcast, trying to pick up on team colors from the camera angle can be very tricky at you know, fast pace. So having the colored shoulders kind of helps me out when broadcasting. Obviously, that can get looked at probably end of the year, but uh I just want to remind you guys that four teams out of the six use some form of red in their color scheme, so it's kind of tricky to have distinct colors when you guys all choose the same color palette.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but wouldn't it be harder to see that like if the other team has a black, like there's also a lot of teams who have black in their jerseys. And like, say for instance the bisons versus us, you would try to stream the game. We have black shoulders right now, and they have black jerseys. That's just gonna make it harder on you. If we would have had white like white shoulders, and they only had black jerseys, it would be easier for you, no.

Brief Pause For Tragedy In Rhode Island

SPEAKER_03

Correct, yeah. Some form of one team has to be dark, one team has to be light.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Like I said, it's like the paint the pants having like the pants to be white. Like I totally understand. That's just that's blending in with the ice and not really worth it. But the shoulders is kind of it's kind of a thing I don't agree with.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I'm in that same boat.

unknown

Yeah.

League Outlook And Final Gripe

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and apparently we'll just take a quick uh 30-second break here since apparently Amtrak decided to jump the gun on this before he consulted anybody else. That face. Yeah, we all, for those who haven't caught up, there's a terrible tragedy down Providence, Rhode Island today. We stand up everybody injured, obviously give our condolences to the families who've lost people and just check in on each other every once in a while, you know, make sure we're all okay. Hang out with them, you know, chat with them, just be nice to each other, basically. I don't know if you guys want to take anything on that.

SPEAKER_01

Nah, it's just a big tragedy, and there's nothing more to say about it. I mean, during a hockey game is also crazy. Hope everyone's okay, and hope that whoever got affected just tries to pull through and gets the support that they need.

SPEAKER_03

Right. I I may give a lot of guff to the New England high school hockey, prep school hockey shenanigans, but no one deserves anything that like that ever.

SPEAKER_01

Especially when the intent was not even about hockey, it was just about family. It's just that's it's a dark world that we live in.

SPEAKER_03

Unfortunately, yeah, currently, but every dark world, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. And hopefully we can all keep ever sharving forward towards that light.

SPEAKER_04

Alright.

SPEAKER_03

LeBlanc, anything you want to tag on league-wide, life-wide, anything wide before we head off here?

SPEAKER_01

Uh well, there's I think we've seen a lot of moves that have been kind of working for everyone, and uh I'm excited to see w what else there's gonna be happening around the league and just hoping that good things happen.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Just keep up the good work, everyone.

SPEAKER_04

Keep on keeping on. Boy, any words from you?

SPEAKER_05

I can't have another I have another gripe. It's about the connects for hire. Oh, god damn it. What now? Let them know, dude. So obviously I'm not gonna say any names because player tampering, all that crap. But I was talking to their management about a player. They said he wasn't available. Then like a day later, he becomes available on the trade block clip. After I already traded the after I already made a trade for one of the players they wanted for my team.

SPEAKER_03

So long story short, long story short is get your trade blocks in order before you start the wheeling and dealing. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Keep them updated. Fair enough.

SPEAKER_03

Alright. And with that, everybody, thank you very much for tuning in. Have fun on the ice this week. Again, I believe it's a regular Tuesday through Friday games this week, if I'm not mistaken, Blaine. Yep. All right. Enjoy it. Enjoy the week, have fun, and hopefully we'll see you down the line.
