Score Lots Of Goals And Make Wolf Go Broke

St. Patrick’s Day gives us the excuse to pour a drink and talk hockey, but the real headline is bigger than the standings: THL is running a charity push where every goal turns into money. League ownership is putting up $2 per goal for the next two weeks, and if you know how wild THL scorelines get, you already understand why we’re telling everyone to light the lamp and worry about the goalie stats later. It’s competitive virtual hockey with a real-world impact, and we want the whole community leaning in.
We also unpack the THL World Cup tournament coming between seasons, including the draft date, the short-roster approach, and the format that should make every game matter. Expect a World Cup style vibe with a round robin week followed by a single-elimination playoff week. We talk through how owners may get protected players, how the draft could work, and why this “bring a core then draft smart” setup rewards teams that can build chemistry fast without stacking the deck.
Then we zoom out to the bigger THL story: why this Discord hockey league keeps surviving while other leagues fade out after a few seasons. We hit quick standings and player stat notes, shout out surprising leaders, and vent about the universal pain of playing goalie when the controls don’t always match what you tracked on the rush. If you’re looking for THL Season 25 info, online hockey league signups, or the Titan Talk community, you’re in the right place.

St. Patrick’s Day Opener
SPEAKER_02On this blessed day in the year 2026, the lovely patron St. Patrick drove all the snakes off the Isle of Ireland and gave us the freedom and prosperity that we have all hope for.
SPEAKER_01Good evening, everybody. Welcome to Titan Talk. P Mrs. Three and Blaine. Two-man crew running it tonight. How are you doing, buddy?
SPEAKER_05I'm doing fantastic. How are you?
Charity Run Rules And Stakes
SPEAKER_01Oh, getting into the good stuff tonight. A little bit of Jameson and Jameson and Coke. Just looking forward to talking about the Hockey League, which I haven't played in in like two weeks. It's been a nice refreshing break. But yes. Rolling right along. First things first. So for the is it the next two rest of the regular season, Blaine is our cancer run, basically?
SPEAKER_05Yes. For the next two weeks.
SPEAKER_01Yep, so next two weeks we're doing. I believe it's weapons charity is the one we're do raising the funds for this time, correct?
SPEAKER_04Yes. I mean as a wife have a charity.
SPEAKER_01For uh helping all the uh little young ones as they struggle through frankly. Oh, it don't want to go through, period, but nonetheless, unfortunately, life sucks. So that has to go with it. And yeah, so I believe league ownership is putting up I think two bucks a goal for the rest of the season.
SPEAKER_05Yes. The league owners are putting up two dollars a goal for every goal scored. Which uh good luck with that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's I was gonna say that's gonna be like 50 bucks a night with the rate of we the rate this league scores. I feel like every game's like a 10-6, 10-4 game. There's very rarely a 3-2 dog fight.
SPEAKER_04But yeah, so that's our last game was like 8-7.
THL World Cup Plan Explained
SPEAKER_01Exactly. So eight. So that's 15. So that's a 30 bucks from one game right there, multiplying that by three and night, 90. Yeah, I think League Ownership might be going broke by the end of it. But nonetheless, yes, so I will give the goalies a break over the last two weeks of the regular season because if they let up a couple cheapes, it's for a good cause. And yeah, so that's gonna be rolling along.
SPEAKER_04And then I believe the other, I guess, big announcement coming out is we're doing a little bit of a hockey world cup in between seasons.
SPEAKER_03Yes, it's the T Joe World Cup. I believe the draft is the 28th of April.
SPEAKER_01Yep, so end of April. Very similar to uh like the world baseball classic or an Olympic style draft, you know, Olympic style pool play. I believe. Are we shooting for 10 teams or as many as we can get?
SPEAKER_04I think it's as many as we can get.
SPEAKER_05I know the owner like the uh owner signup went out today for that and season 25, I believe.
SPEAKER_01Right, because I believe if you do ownership for the World Cup, you may get on a short list for season 25 ownership going down the line. And also if you sign up for the World Cup, that also doubles as you're signed up for season 25. So kind of two birds with one stone, basically.
SPEAKER_05Yep, so people want to sign back up.
SPEAKER_01Right. Saves us a lot of paperwork, which frankly I appreciate. But yeah, that'll be going on. I may or may not consider owning because we are doing shorter rosters for that one. I believe it's only 10 players per team, roughly. If I saw Amtrak's math earlier.
SPEAKER_04Something like that. Yep, I believe so. Right, because I think it's only what one week of regular games and then playoffs from there. Yep, you get the round robin, and then the second week is a single elimination tournament. Right, so one done.
unknownYep.
SPEAKER_04Or lose it, and you're out. Right.
SPEAKER_01And I believe roster construction is owner. Then three protected players, for lack of a better term, you choose three others, and then it's a six-player draft from there.
unknownYep.
SPEAKER_01Obviously, this is all subject to change depending on what what league ownership comes up with, but I believe that's the rough notes that I have in front of me so far.
SPEAKER_04Yes. So then, yep. So that would just be a fun little way to maybe do a little bit of a modified bring your own team, basically. And all good fun there. Go for it.
SPEAKER_05It's funny that I came up with that concept. Like a long time ago, I tried doing my own like weekend league before I was even in THL. And that was kind of like the concept I was gonna run. It was like you bring like five people, then you draft the rest.
SPEAKER_01Right. I think I used to play in one. I think it was called the XHL way back in the day. It was sort of somewhere where you could bring it was basically bring your own team, but you could also just sign random free agents while you're at it if you wanted, so kind of a mix of the two.
SPEAKER_04But I kind of I kind of like this concept.
SPEAKER_01It's it's kind of similar to LG where you can keep a core number of players together, but you still have to but you still have to draft efficiently in order to keep your momentum up, basically, for lack of a better term.
Standings Talk And League Drama
SPEAKER_03Alright.
SPEAKER_04But uh yeah, taking a look at the standings real quick. I mean, I I see that, but where the fuck the connects for hire come from?
SPEAKER_01Like the moment they deal me, they suddenly become good.
SPEAKER_04Like, I'm not that bad. I'm not that cancerous shit. Bad luck.
SPEAKER_01Bad luck is one way to put it. I mean, I don't even play anymore.
SPEAKER_05Like better uh go find a leprechaun today.
SPEAKER_01Leprechaun, no, I've been uh I've been plenty busy with OG because I got picked up over there somehow. Again, it's only NCAA, so it's kind of if you have a half a brain, you can get picked up there sometimes.
SPEAKER_04But on every round. Oh, when you did uh LG for the little bit? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, they I think way back in the day, I did the first version of LG NCAA, which is basically they took four like defunct East ECHL teams and used them and just like a little round robin league that way, and I won that, and then I quit after the words because I'm like, I'm not really getting anywhere with this. So now I'm trying to go back.
SPEAKER_05They just did the juniors, they just did the CHL, and pretty much all I could get into is scaling games. No one was really looking. So I was like, I actually want to play, so I left.
SPEAKER_01Right. And honestly, I feel like that's the same with a lot of players, is that if they don't have a friend in OG, they try for two or three seasons. They like the concept, but can't get on a team, and then they trickle out to the various other leagues that are out there.
SPEAKER_05I mean, I don't even know if they're all I know is THL.
SPEAKER_01There's there's a couple others. I mean, THL is the I'd say the biggest one by a mile and a half as far as consistency is concerned, because God, we've been doing it.
SPEAKER_05We're going at season 25.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, going season 25, fourth season. I came in like season eight or ten, and that was almost three years ago at this point.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it was season four.
SPEAKER_04I think it's four.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so basically it's a matter of if you come here, you know this league isn't gonna blow up in a puff of smoke like I think I've been in three or four other leagues that have done that after like five seasons. Yep. Just one player gets pissed off, takes you know 25-30% of the league with them, and the whole thing just collapses in on itself. I feel like here the THL, at least we've been up and down, and you know, we've kind of leveled out where we are right now, but there's always room to try to go up if you bring the right people in. Which if anyone out there in in the podcast world does want to join in, discord.gg slash thl. That's the link, direct link. Type that into your browser, link to the server, fill out the paperwork, get in on the league. Always looking for owners, always looking for players.
SPEAKER_05If you don't feel like typing it out, you can click on the link that's in the description below.
SPEAKER_01Uh yes, because you're smart and are able to put that in the description, whereas my clumsy fingers can't really do that.
SPEAKER_05Me have big kick fingers. The program makes it really easy. You just type in once and you can be like add to all episodes in any episodes released after.
SPEAKER_01Oh, perfect. Wish I could get that for the freaking uh THL thing, but I know Buffs Buffalo Jones, who's my tech assistant, basically is working a lot of the background stuff with that. So I'm kind of letting him drive that for a little while. Again, I'm I'm more known for my voice and my kind of shoe from the hip gun attitude. Not very good with like coming up with creating and designing stuff. That's I I leave that to the semi-professionals.
SPEAKER_04Or Amtrak and his stupid AI wizardry.
SPEAKER_02You mean the one where he goes over it freaking? Bob bands, yes.
SPEAKER_05That's my favorite.
SPEAKER_02I love it.
SPEAKER_01I I appreciate that he does it, but at the same time, I feel like it's kind of kicking at a dog when he's down. Because some of those people are maybe going through some real life shit and just, you know, haven't had time to get back to you on it. Now, obviously that's the one in a billion case, but yeah, to your point.
SPEAKER_04Egos.
SPEAKER_05But it's always funny when it's like so-and-so banned for being a little bitch.
Stat Leaders And Goalie Pain
SPEAKER_04So-and-so banned for just because they want to get banned. Seeing a few of those here and there. Just looking at individual player stats real quick. LeBlanc. On top for assists, again, LeBlanc kind of carries Iverson, and vice versa.
SPEAKER_01Uh Havoc, though.
SPEAKER_04Normally she's a goal goalie in this league, but number two in goals and points, you know, really kind of showing out as a winger now, I feel like.
SPEAKER_05Honestly, if we had a comeback comeback player of the week, year award, I'd give to her. Honestly, she was gone for like some seasons.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I would I would definitely put her in the rank for that, especially because I think the last time she played, she was mostly a goalie, so I know I had always heard she had a good wing, winger build, but yeah, number two in goal is kind of putting everyone to shame, really, to be quite honest.
SPEAKER_04Let's see, Sekoi leaning plus minus, not surprised on the conduct. I don't like that points per game played. I always said with the face-offs though. Faceoff wins, though. That's a little shocking. Usually think of him as a scorer rather than uh than a face-off dot specialist. Yeah, no, he was uh he was doing pretty good this year. And the the one sad I always like to keep a track of the block shots, uh Magic Maru on top day of 36. Or 30, excuse me. Good job there, buddy. And uh Yeah, none of my players are really gonna be up there because they all kind of FMRAs.
SPEAKER_01I mean, honestly, sometimes that's just the season where you get two or three players that don't like playing and just F off. You get another two or three who ego out of the league, and then you kinda like, well, half my team's gone now. What the hell do I do now?
SPEAKER_04That's kind of what happened to my head uh didn't want to, but I had played magic. Right.
SPEAKER_05Just to get something to stabilize the team.
SPEAKER_04Right, something to build in and try to keep together.
SPEAKER_05But uh I got dark and that helped out a lot.
SPEAKER_04Right. Uh twisted joker with a pair of points as a goalie, that's something you don't really see too often, let alone one. Sure, I got one. Wait, no. For goalie, I'm only seeing twisted, jawa, and breezy.
unknownHmm.
SPEAKER_04Interesting.
SPEAKER_01Must not be in the system yet. Because uh stats occasionally does take the weekend off to uh rest and relax before everyone starts yelling at them to put stats in.
SPEAKER_04Or's even three shot outside. Very solid there. Alright, you were saying something, Boy.
SPEAKER_05Hopefully now that Dark's here and not back from working the week. I won't have to play goalie anymore.
SPEAKER_04Exactly.
SPEAKER_01But playing goalie is so much fun. You get shot at and yeah, it's fun because you get to be the hero, but at the same time the controls are so shit, you get frustrated when one goes in, it's like I moved there two seconds ago.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I complained to Ferry like last week. He had a penalty shot against me, and I literally tracked him perfectly with the left stick, didn't touch the right stick, and it's still going.
Team Ideas And Charity Streams
SPEAKER_04Right. I mean, we're gonna lose that game anyway, but it was like the one time I was like, come on. Please cut me a break for the love of Pete. Anything you wanna touch on, like life-wise, world-wise, THL-wise. See, we talked about the cup. We talked about the charity.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. Oh yeah, just a thing for the cup. Uh, I think team suggestions are also available. Obviously, it has to be a country. But I think that's pretty much open to whatever the owner wants, correct? We're not setting teams for that really. I don't think so, no.
SPEAKER_04So you could do a team Uganda if you want to go cuckoo for cocoa puffs if you want. Jamaica, cool runnings. I mean, they had a bobsled team at this year's Winter Olympics again, so why not? Oh, uh. Is it Trinidad and Tobago?
SPEAKER_01I think got one in also. There was another Caribbean country that somehow snuck into the bobsled. I'm like, why is this a thing?
SPEAKER_05Does Trinidad have a hockey team in the second Mighty Ducks?
SPEAKER_04Probably. I don't think I've ever seen the second Mighty Ducks, so it wouldn't surprise me that they would have one. It was the one where they were uh team USA.
SPEAKER_01Right, and I forget I was it, yeah. It was some like team that made sense but also was so obscure that it would never happen in real life.
SPEAKER_04Sorry to any Icelandic people out there, but facts be facts sometimes. Alright, so yeah, we kind of talked about the World Cup.
SPEAKER_01Kind of talked about charity shenanigans. I'm gonna be looking maybe maybe tonight, maybe later on in the week, I'm not sure. Maybe do a couple non-hockey streams for charity just because MLB the show did just come out or is coming out. And I know a lot of people in the THL play that, so maybe start up a league for that. I'm not entirely sure. I'll have to run that by some people to figure out how we if we want to do that, how we're gonna do it.
SPEAKER_04Because I think a little THL baseball tournament would be fun. Yeah, that'd be cool to watch. I'd watch it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, especially because uh I played in one for uh during COVID, they'd stream like the MLB season as if it wasn't cancelled in. They found the format where basically you only do seven innings of play, so the games only took like 45 minutes to an hour max, so you could keep them going if need be. And it was good fun overall.
Real Hockey Schedules And Backstory
SPEAKER_04So yeah, I might put that together tomorrow or whenever the next day is. And we'll see how that works. Maybe get if we get able to get six or eight teams together, we might be able to put something together. Uh yeah, Boyne, anything else you got on the docket? Uh nothing going on now.
SPEAKER_05I probably won't be owning next season. Oh fair. I'm not even playing, I might just be doing like the staff stuff. Because uh hockey's starting up, I don't wanna put too much on my plate.
SPEAKER_04Wait, hockey starting up in May? Yeah, end of April for me. What do you do outdoor hockey? No, this is uh summer roller. Ah, fair enough. And then in the fall, I do ice. Yeah, I've always wanted to play hockey, but nah, never that just never got the chance really.
SPEAKER_01Because when I did the clinics when I was like, you know, when you do the like three, four, five, six years old, my mother was getting scouted by like AA and triple A junior teens who want me to get on there because I was five or six inches taller than everyone else on the ice at the time. So they were like, oh, this kid's a good Zidano Char defenseman. And my mother got and my mother got scared off and took me out of the clinics immediately.
SPEAKER_04But that's a whole try try for another day.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I didn't play this last fall or winter because the wife's work schedule switched, so I could only play like on like Sunday mornings, but not switching again, so now I'm my uh Thursdays are back open for that.
SPEAKER_04It's always good fun. Alright. Alright. I think that's it.
SPEAKER_01Uh not really, just a couple of riders on the way up. The door here. Happy St. Patrick's Day to everybody. This is being recorded on the 17th. Not sure when it's gonna go up, but happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone out there. World Cup signups should be coming out soon. I believe ownership and player applications are separate, so if you need to do both, do both. Again, charity strive for the next two weeks. Donate, donate often and donate as much as you can. Obviously, don't have to take out a small loan for it, but anything taken is appreciated. And score a lot of goals that way we make Wolf bankrupt.
SPEAKER_04That sounds like a plan. That means you're not getting paid. I've never gotten paid in the first place.
SPEAKER_01Like I had the access. Yeah, no, I I had the access to just switch the bank accounts and stuff, but I've never gotten paid in my life for this stuff.
SPEAKER_04It's all been volunteer work.
SPEAKER_01I mean, the only thing Wolf has given me basically is the copy of NHL and this platform to run off of, so it's all been the only one who got paid. Probably because you put in a shit ton of work. No, I didn't get paid. I know. I've been telling him to get a pizza wing up here before the games, but he keeps saying no for some reason. I can't figure out why though.
SPEAKER_04At least buy us a beer.
SPEAKER_01I mean, beer, whiskey, a couple pizzas, beer's just something, man. Something to help us grind through these so old days. Pay for my software to do all this shit. I mean, he did offer that at one point, but I have no idea on the technical knowledge for that, so I I've been kind of pushing back against that for the time being.
SPEAKER_04Basically, if we can get enough people to actually subscribe. Yep.
SPEAKER_01Because subscriptions on Twitch are the big driver, because that's rough math, it's like 250 to us every month.
SPEAKER_05So if we can get I can monetize it through the program I use, but I need at least a thousand downloads per month.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. No, it's we're only at like a couple hundred.
SPEAKER_01Right, yeah, no, it took us nearly two years to get any monetization on Twitch, and then from there it's a slow build. But that's a die trap for another day. All right, everyone.
SPEAKER_04Thank you for tuning in. Have fun. Don't do anything stupid, and score lots of goals. See it.
SPEAKER_03That's a wrap on fighting!
