We're back again with more things we are loving right now. This week we're talking about some beauty and health products and trends that are working for us. We're editing our wardrobe, chatting about our need for coziness, and being intentional with some routines that make us happier!
Hi Heather. Hi. Welcome back. Welcome back for part of the dose of all the things we love. Yeah. Or loving right now.
SPEAKER_02The things we're loving right now. And if you didn't catch part one, we kind of covered like some food and beverage, some entertainment things we're into right now. Shows we're liking. Yeah. So if you missed that one, go catch that one. Yeah. And then today's part two.
SPEAKER_01Part two. And you don't have to watch them in order or anything.
SPEAKER_02They don't depend on each other. There's no consistency. Or listen to them in order. There's never consistency. What uh what do you want to start with today? How about some like um do you have any like beauty hack, not hacks, beauty products, routines, things you're loving that are new or worth talking about?
SPEAKER_01I am. I actually I'm because I, you know, and I always say it that I'm like ultimate consumer, like buy things that strangers tell me are the best things they've ever tried. And I'm like, oh, guilty. Um, I am fully in my like red light mask vibration plate.
SPEAKER_02You sent me a video of the red light mask, which is terrifying. It does look terrifying. There's a cute little video that's going around when somebody like breaks into your house and you're in your red light mask and you're like creeping around looking like the scariest. You just come running down the hall. And the robber is like, ugh, I'm out of here. I have not gotten into that. Do you have a vibration boy?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Do you like it? I like it. So my the walking pad that I purchased, which seems like just over like, you know, overdone or whatever. Why did I need a walking pad? I'm like looking at my treadmill.
SPEAKER_02I was gonna say, because you both.
SPEAKER_01But because my treadmill is in my basement, my basement is like where my son resides always. Yeah, T. So there are yeah, there are times, especially now. I know coming into the summer months, we're like, I can't get up and walk on my treadmill because there's like 14 kids in the basement.
SPEAKER_02Like, maybe I'm mistaken, but from one I see, like we don't have a walking pad, but Chris was just talking about getting one for his office. Yeah, they seem much more mobile, right? You can just like pick it up, yeah. They're putting like a bed. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like right now, mine's in the den because I wanted to like walk a little bit and watch TV with my family. So, do you also have a vibration plate? It's a it's a do-it-a-combo. So the vibe it's a vibration plate and a walking pad, which I was like, cool. Like two trends in one, right? 150 bucks, and I got both for one, or both in one, and um, yeah, so I like that a lot. But the only thing I will say about the walking pad, and it wouldn't be as much of a problem for you as it is for me, like, no, you know, I'm not like putting you down or anything, but like my legs are longer, and yeah, fair.
SPEAKER_02I keep thinking I'm gonna fall off. Oh, see, that's what bothers me about the walking pads in general. Yeah, I feel like even on my treadmill, which I purposely bought, like an extra wide treadmill, if I don't like occasionally glance down, especially if I'm walking fast, if I'm just trying to focus on a show or something, maybe I have like bad balance, but I get real worried that I'm gonna step off to the side or like half my foot is on, half like so those narrower, smaller, like mobile walking pads make me a little bit nervous.
SPEAKER_01I feel like I would bite it for sure. I have to put it somewhere, like when I'm walking on it, I have to put it somewhere where like I'm like next to a wall.
SPEAKER_02Does yours have anything that comes up, or it is just a path? There's not even like a brace yourself if things get sketchy, bar. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Literally, I will just eject lights backwards off the line's like, you're making me nervous. I'm like, I'm making me nervous. This is what I have to do though. And then I was on it and I was trying to like read my Kindle, and he was like, What are you doing? I'm like, how am I gonna stay on this without doing something else?
SPEAKER_02When people do it like at their desk at work, I'm like, how are you typing an email? I don't know. It would take 100% of my focus not to wipe off, like wipe out off the side of the walking. I see people do it all the time, and I'm like, how are you? It must be like an acquired skill. Yeah. The more you do it, the better you get at it. Okay, but then my question too is do you feel like the vibration thing? Do you notice anything? Like any benefits or whatever. I mean, you get some gas out. I was telling my mom about it because I'm like, if you want to borrow ours, because I was telling her, like, if you want to try one but don't want to invest or whatever. And I'm like, here's all the things they say, like lymphatic drainage, during regularity, but like, I don't know. I feel like I I also have not ever been consistent enough with it that it's like, okay, if I only do this. I'm like, when I'm using it, I'm also walking extra and doing all these other extra things. So it's like, I don't know. I like to like it. I like to dabble feels good, yeah. But uh, you just feel like, yeah, it feels good work all the junk out of my system.
SPEAKER_01I it I like to dabble in so many things that if I were to be consistent in everything.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna picture you with like your red mask, like just like on a walking thing, spraying toners, yeah. I just like 13 layers of something on your skin under the mat.
SPEAKER_01I set myself up for so many things that if I were to be consistent with everything I set myself up to do, you'd never really need to. That's starting to feel though.
SPEAKER_02I start to feel like who has the time for this routine? Nobody, but then it's like I throw it all out and like maybe just knock it down a few steps.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I the red light mask I do. I wish that I got the cryo one. Um, shark just came out, but it's like$500 or something. So I'm like, I guess I'll work my way up and see if I'm consistent enough with this one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, or if you're noticing the benefits, I'm like, okay, this was a worthwhile investment, so now maybe I take another set.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But I do I let I enjoy that one. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Does it feel like anything's happening? What do you feel? I think I don't know. Do you feel like warmth? I don't even know. Like it's red light therapy, but like, is there a sensation or no? Not really.
SPEAKER_01I feel you feel a little bit of a sensation. I wouldn't say I feel warmth, but like when you take it off, I feel there's like a little tingling.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. And you can work up like your levels, and okay.
SPEAKER_01It's pretty scary looking.
SPEAKER_02It's scary looking, but I'm saying, like, what's it doing to my it's like your brain's up there. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01It's a lot of stuff to trust. I'm so careful about everything I do, everything I put in my body, but like for whatever reason, I was like, yeah, I'll put that light on my face for 20 minutes. It came from Amazon, it's surely legit. It's gotta be fine.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that stuff scares me a little bit, but also I probably should just try it. Yeah, why not? World of it. I mean, everybody's doing it. Yeah. Um, it's funny that okay, so my next one is kind of gross, but you I know you're gonna go with me. It's gonna be okay. We can talk about these things. I really love derma planing now. Yeah, and I was explaining to Chris. I'm like, I don't think guys, I don't know if guys aren't gonna do it because they shave, right? But I feel like it's not even about getting like the little peach fuzz hairs off my face, which like, of course, your makeup goes on smoother and everything, but like it is so satisfying sometimes if I have like dry skin and stuff, like just to get all of that off. Ugh. It kind of gives you the same feeling of like pulling a Biore blackhead strip. Yeah. And you want to be like, oh yeah, I did some good. Wait, you're shuddering. You don't love that? Brian loves that. I don't.
SPEAKER_01I love it too. It's like it makes me shiver.
SPEAKER_02I'm always like, You do it with the girl who does my hair because I was telling her how much I love brushing my dog. Yeah. Because, like, same with a hair tangle that you would have, like when you like work out a knot and get like a clump of hair, you're like, yes, it feels so good. Not myself, because I'm like, I need that. That's what I mean. When that's a big, I'm like, no, no, my little long-haired doggy, because you have to brush her just so she doesn't get mad at, and I love that. Like, uh working out a knot, it's like popping a pimple or something. Come on, everybody loves that. I don't pop my pimples. I know, weirdo. There's nothing better. No, it's very satisfying. Okay, so but you you do you do your derma plane? Do you want to talk about that on the air?
SPEAKER_01Well, I do, but I do it in a different way. I've been doing it for like yeah, ever. Okay. Ava Dermaplanes, I buy her the little razors, like, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I shave my face, my whole face with my razor.
SPEAKER_02But it's the same idea. Same idea. It's a different tool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Like I just do it in the shower.
SPEAKER_02The idea is it's not just about like getting rid of the hairs and stuff, it's also like you are kind of like exfoliating. I love that process.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I shave, but like, I don't do it, like I see people do it, and you like hold your face down and there's like a process, and like, no, I like in the shower to shave my.
SPEAKER_02Did you have you ever seen where they spray their face with that like hair finding powder?
SPEAKER_01That's what I was talking about on the pod a little while ago. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02We did talk about it. Because you're talking about my diet. I put a little bit of baby powder because it plays to your hair. And then honestly, some of my hair are very visible. Some of my hair is just like fine little peachy blondy or white, unfortunately, now. And it's hard to see. And I'm like up in my magnifying mirror, like, but I just love that, like, yes.
SPEAKER_01When you're done, you're like, ugh, look at that. Oh, see, I can't, I usually can't like look at that kind of stuff. Oh no, I love it. It's very satisfying. I feel like you accomplished something. Anytime I'm anywhere and they're like, Do you want to see Wuin? I'm like, no. Like my anesthesiologist took a picture of my insides during my C section.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_01I was like, you raced those. I don't want to see that. That's like a HIPAA thing.
SPEAKER_02Like, I'm not going to school for those. No, no, no, no, no. Take the baby out. I don't want to see any of that. I just, I like the feeling that I accomplished something, and it's like, ew, gross.
SPEAKER_01None of that belongs on my face, anyways. No, it was on my list for a little while to buy the hair finder thing, and then I was like, Do I really? I just need it. You already got a system. Just shave my face in the shower.
SPEAKER_02It is wild though to see people do it on video and they're just like, hey, look at all this hair I got, chin hair and stuff. And they're like, I'm like, I don't, I guess if I was making a million bucks off of it, I'll show you all my like weird hairs. But I was all like, that's kind of a lot. Start an OnlyFans for your facial hair that you shaved off. Listen, listen. Whatever I would have thought of at first, I could have been, I could be a millionaire right now. No judgment. No judgment. Um, okay, but I love it. I I feel like I was dabbling. I was like, I'm not sure if this is for me. Now it's like a part of my routine. I love it. Yeah, I love it.
SPEAKER_01Now, how often are you doing this? Every couple of days. I bought, I just saw something like the little like Ava. Yes. I saw a dermatologist. Like, I'm always watching like 10 things I wouldn't do now that I'm, you know, I'm a neurologist. Or now that I'm yeah. And somebody said, and I have it. So on my list, I'm like, go throw that away. One dermatologist is like, please don't buy those little rollerballs with the needles, like micro needling. I have that. But I will say what I also saw you could use it for, so maybe I won't throw it away. I have it your scalp. When you're putting your like scalp oils, which I'm also not consistent with. Right. But also same. Maybe I'll do that.
SPEAKER_02I did start using my thing on my scalp. Actually, I think I bought two. Yeah. Face one, scalp one. But I liked the microneedling thing. I liked the way it felt. Yeah. But I do just feel like I don't know what I'm doing.
SPEAKER_01I don't want to be damaging my skin. No, because you you can really damage your skin barrier. That's like such a thing. So I I'm gonna use it on my scalp. I have every single hair oil serum, like scalp serum, kerastas, like uh whey. Every serum there is, I have it. Every oil there is, I have it. You have an influence. Yes, my hair still doesn't look great. But I recently just did get a new brush, and I can't think of the name. I can um post it. Is it a Sheila it's a Sheila something brush. And it's like metal. Metal um bristles, bristles. And they're like further apart. They're supposed to be very like gentle on your hair for like brushing your hair when it's wet. They said you could even keep the brush in the it's like Sheila stats or something like that. Um you can watch it be like, what did you look up? Wolf ranch? But it was not Wolf Ranch. It was When You What episode was that? When we were talking about something, and I said, Oh, I found this really good ranch that somebody said was.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's just our random topic, like let's talk about it a couple weeks.
SPEAKER_01And I said, I'm like saying everything wrong lately.
SPEAKER_02And you told your sister to watch the rabbit, and it was the rooster. And then I said you told me, because I like am a big fan of Lighthouse Ranch, best bottled ranch I've found on the market. You were like, Oh, I just heard about Wolf Ranch. It's Coyote. So I go straight and you're like, I think it's available at Walmart. Now let me tell the story. So then I Google just no, I don't. I go directly to my Walmart shopping app thinking this is where I'm gonna find Wolf Ranch. And if you type in Wolf Ranch, the only thing you get is what looks to be like a smuddy book about a ranch and a guy, cowboy, cowboy, and I was like, it's not even giving me choices for food bra.
SPEAKER_01I told our four viewers.
SPEAKER_02So it's like wild coyote ranch or something like that. Oh, yes, wild coyote. Something coyote.
SPEAKER_01So this could be Sheila Statz or not. I'm pretty sure it's I've Google things at your own breast.
SPEAKER_02Sheila stats.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna look it up and find it while we're talking.
SPEAKER_02Okay, it's just interesting. It's like, okay, we're back to metal hairbrushes. I don't know, don't you feel like we're always like boar bristle or the softest thing?
SPEAKER_01I have like everything's always changing. I have every Mason Pearson dupe of a brush that I could get because I don't want to spend$300 on a brush. Right. It is, I was right, it is Sheila Statz. Okay, very good. Oh, it's metal right there. It's metal.
SPEAKER_02It looks like a hairbrush, our grandma's what I have. Totally. Do you know what I'm saying? So everything's just like it looks like a pin cushion. That's what it's like. To be doing this.
SPEAKER_01So everything's full circle. I'm oiling my hair, I'm brushing it with the metal, I'm doing all the things. All right. And your love, I try. I'm trying. I mean, I like how it feels. My hair isn't shown anything yet, but yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's the hard thing. I was like, how long do we have to be consistent? Do I have to do it for 12 weeks every night? I'm that's never gonna happen.
SPEAKER_01But I mean, I think I do everything like once a week. I do my tret no one once a week.
SPEAKER_02I know, they're like, so then just do this routine every night for 12 weeks, and you should see.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, 12 weeks. It's true because you know what? The one thing I am consistent with is my toners, and I see a difference. I feel the difference. Or my eye. I hear that. Oh, my eye patches in the morning.
SPEAKER_02I just have to be consistent.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, which I've I've told you about before, but you can't do it because your husband makes your coffee for you.
SPEAKER_02No, I can't, he just he would have to bring me my eye patches, and at that point, it's like, what am I, the queen of England? It's too much.
SPEAKER_01I I am so crazy about it that like when I if I'm going somewhere, I will ship eye patches there to have with me if I can't like pack them, like ship them to my mom to put in the fridge for when I like it.
SPEAKER_02So much a party routine.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_02I think I just need to look at myself in the mirror in the morning and be like, Do you need eye patches? Yes, you do. So let's get into our roots. It's so good. Right by my coffee primer. I've done it and it's very soothing and like so good. Yeah. Eye patches, red light therapy. Okay, I have another, I just I told you I did this right before vacation, but I'm loving it. Now it's part of my routine. Yeah. I have like blonde slash growing in white hairs. I have like very light eyebrows. They're non-existent. They were also overplucked in the 90s, as we all know. We all did. But I saw a girl on TikTok just like do the just for mom, like the beard dye on her eyebrows, and she was very fair, like really light eyebrows. And I was just so scared that something would go terribly wrong and I would look like grouch Omar. Sorry. Yeah, I'm scared about that. Nope. Do it like every two weeks now. It just dyes your eyebrows darker. And do you not go into a salon and making them do it? I just feel like it's just me and a little brush, and they get darker, and then it's less. It's not like I'm not doing anything, but I still have to fill them in. They're still sparse. But the hair that I do have is very blonde and like also white. Yeah. So it's just like a five dollar every couple of weeks. Like, why would again? Why was I not doing this?
SPEAKER_01It's on my subscribe and save because my husband uses it to take it.
SPEAKER_02The justice for a men?
SPEAKER_01Oh, he it's like I have it in my cellar right now.
SPEAKER_02He has it in your eyebrows.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's gotta be the dark. You need like black, black. I would do it. I was very nervous about it. He buys like medium, medium dark. Because he just dyes like to get the red out of his beard. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Chris was like, Do you want to just use the rest in my hair? And I was like, No, we're not doing that.
SPEAKER_01No, Ryan does it like a lot of it. But I was like, if your eyebrows start coming in crazy, why I will help you with your eyebrows.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I have a very I love my eyebrow girl, so I can't like Yeah, no, I just I'm that girl who's always like, Do you have a drugstore solution? Yeah, that's because like I've saying it. Save a few bucks.
SPEAKER_01I would be the person who would do it.
SPEAKER_02It's scary the first time. Horribly wrong. And it starts getting dark real fast. You're like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh. I kept wiping it off, but then it all wipes off. It's not your hair, it's like the skin. And then I would go like, Oh well, I'm just gonna put it back on again, wait five more minutes or whatever. So it was just I had to get the timing and the color right. Yeah, people start. So like an easy little lavanat. Yeah, there's brows when I don't have brows, like in the summer, if I go swimming, I'll have some eyebrows to speak of. So it's important, they frame your face. It does really change your face. It does.
SPEAKER_01I've been really into, and I know I spoke about it already, just about how important as we age, like keeping your under eye like moisturized. And I don't remember if I said this part or not, and if I did, I'm so sorry, but I am completely obsessed with it. It's a Keels, um, which like that's talk about a throwback brand in the 90s, but they're still up and running. And they have like an an avocado under-eye treatment.
SPEAKER_02I remember that.
SPEAKER_01And somebody said that they it's like super thick, they put it on while they're like prepping their skin. I'm really big on like skin prep underneath your makeup, and while they're prepping their skin, they like dab it under your eyes and then they let it like soak in. Okay. Then you put your concealer over it. So you're starting like with a very like puffed up, moisturized. Yeah. I feel like it is helped. Don't look at my under eyes too close.
SPEAKER_02I mean, obviously. I'm like, if you like, go ham. Look at my eyebrows.
SPEAKER_01I was trying not to.
SPEAKER_02You guys are far enough away where you're like, I feel like she has hair on her eyebrows. I feel like it is it helps tremendously with like creasing and just saw a dermatologist talking about doing it with like Vaseline, and he was like, Don't go ham. Yeah, but like it is honestly one of the best like moisture sealers, yeah. You know what I mean? And like obviously, maybe you're not gonna wear that throughout the day, but I think she was putting it on at night before she went to bed or something, and I was like, Vaseline? Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Preparation H people are using. Freaks me out. They say it works like, I mean, think about it, it's meant to like shrink. Yeah, and you're doing it right. My mom always taught me, I'm sure everyone knows by now, but you always apply anything under eye. I don't do anything right. Did you just like a minute ago?
SPEAKER_02I was like, ah, my eyes are watering. I'm not like this girl.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but you were using the right finger.
SPEAKER_02Because I'm on this. This is your weakest finger. I have to look like I know what I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. A minute ago, I was like, I am. No, I'm really bad about that. My mom was always ragging on us, like, whenever we should be like, Don't touch your face. You're gonna make yourself wrinkles. Or like she would even tell me, like, putting mascara on, like, look, you know, like don't look in the mirror, like, don't look up because you'll give yourself wrinkles. Oh gosh. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I love those videos that are like, where'd this wrinkle come from? And then it's like a series of videos of you making the most, like the meanest frowny face. And I'm like, that's I have a very distinct thought crease. I don't know. I like to make it sound like it's not from being mean. Yeah. It's pretty thought. It's pretty deep. It's pretty deep. It might be a frown crease. All right, I have one more little uh drugstory beauty thing that I really love. I went through a lip stain thing. Yeah. I bought some creepy ones. Actually, Costco has a little package of them. I do not recommend it. But I was like, oh, they're 20 bucks. It was like the super dark black goth peel-off one. I have that one. Oh, do you like that one? That from Costco. Okay. It was so sticky. Yeah. And then I had to let it dry. So I was like walking around my house, like, and then I felt like it was getting out my teeth, and then it's so pigmented. I was like, it's gonna stain my teeth red. The process was too stressful. So I do not like the peel-off. Highly pigment. But uh just CoverGirl has an outlast lip skin. It looks like a little marker, it goes on like marker, it's like so thin and watery, it just soaks right in. And I love it. I think I might have one. Yeah, I really liked it. It was like 10 bucks, just got a target pickup, didn't even have to walk in the store. You know what I mean? But like it literally was like a really quick lip stain.
SPEAKER_01I've tried it.
SPEAKER_02Then you put your chapsticker gloss over it, and its color like is is pretty pigmented. Yeah. I don't know. The peel-off ones freaked me out. I can't do it.
SPEAKER_01I have the peel-off one. I have one that my niece suggested um from Ulta. That one's actually really good. Okay. The problem is, is I like to like mix and match and like do different like liners with this and that. It's like you're committing to that one color, and most of the time, like I don't know why. Maybe I just have like a universal lip color. All the stains I put it on, I'm like it just looks like it's a little bit more. Maybe because you have a darker base. Maybe.
SPEAKER_02Well, also when I was doing the dark one, it's like you cannot mess up because if you go like outside of your lip line, like too bad that's your lips now. It was like high pressure. I was like, and I don't have very large lips, so I was like really trying to it was too stressful. I don't need that kind of stress in my life. It's a good concept. I do like the idea of a lip stain. Yeah, I don't want to. I'm gonna have to reapply all the time, and I need color, I think we've established. Yeah, I don't have the skin tone for pale, pale lips.
SPEAKER_01It's so funny that you like you just are so used to how you you know you look and how you were raised, and and I'll never forget Ava, one of her very best friends, is very, very fair. More even more fair than you, yeah. And I remember like there were certain colors that her mom would be like, You can't wear that color. And I would always think, like, why? And then I'm like, Oh, it's because like you just learn, yeah, what works for you. I didn't realize it until I got highlights one time in my whole family. Like, you'd think, you know, my I have a picture saved of you.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, Oh, that one that I said. I like to bring it out once in a while when you were like, You sent it because you were you hated it and you were so upset. So even your face in the picture is like angry. I was I was like, I was so upset.
SPEAKER_01I came home, it took like saved. I should have made a sticker out of it. It took like six hours. Yeah. And I came home, and all Ryan was like laying in bed. That's how late it was, and he was like, What did you do? And then my dad came over the next day. No, my dad left money on my foyer table and was like, fix it. Just fix it. My brother came home from out of town. And he like came to see me for something. I opened the door and he went, What? Like my whole family was so freaked out that I wasn't dark. So, but yeah, when I did it.
SPEAKER_02To me, it didn't even look that drastic. Do you know what I mean? Because some people go pretty crazy. Right. But like, because you have such a dark face. I guess for them, they were you were basically a blonde now. I was basically blonde.
SPEAKER_01And my mom, who's exper, I mean, she went to school for hair and all of that. So she's experimented with all of that. So she was the most chill about it. Uh-huh. She was like, it looks really pretty. I mean, like, you look different. You're gonna have to get used to it. And she did the first thing she said, you're gonna have to adjust how you do your makeup. You're gonna have to put a little bit more color in because you're used to like you could go out, you know.
SPEAKER_02It does really make a difference. It's that weird, like it is, but like I don't know, it's like you just like you're used to it. You're used to it. Yeah, it's like this is what I'm dealing with. So yeah, and you always I feel like, well, I do. I always want the thing I don't have. So I'm like, oh my god, must be so nice to just wake up and have eyebrows on your face because they're not like white and disappearing, or my skin is like only nice in the summer when people are like, Oh, you look all tan.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, I know.
SPEAKER_02See, and my whole life is unacceptable to be like this all year round.
SPEAKER_01I hated, I wanted to be my whole life until I was probably like my senior year in high school. I wanted to be blonde hair, blue eyes, fair skin. I hated that I had like tan skin. I hated like you don't have to.
SPEAKER_02My oldest daughter just said the same thing to me. She's like, oh my gosh, my friends at school with their dark straight hair. It's so easy because she's every day, poor thing. Right. Love her, gave her my hair. It's a blowout, or it's a crimper, or it's a there's no just like letting hair dry. Yeah, it's a whole thing. And she's like, must be so nice to have nice, shiny black hair. This time, and I was like, but they're probably like, I wish I was fair, or whatever. You do, or maybe they're like, Thank God for this hair.
SPEAKER_01I mean, there are sometimes it it we are in such a different world now. Like, I do love how much more acceptance there is for different, like, you know, looks and everything like that. But yeah, for the longest time I was I used to tell people when I was a kid, I used to have blue eyes, but I fell down the stairs and my eyes fell out. And they only had brown. That was my story. Oh, you're a little liar. They only had browns. How did that be for you? I don't know. I probably only told it three times. I wanted blue eyes. So bad. Really? Oh, so bad. Funny. I think it's beautiful.
SPEAKER_02Uh, I mean, yeah, because it's different. It's different. You're used to looking at yours every day in the mirror, and then you're like, eh, old hat, right? Something different. Oh well. I mean, we can change all those things though. You can have green eyes if you want.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, if I go by all dude, I can't stick my finger in my eyeball. I do it every day. I'm the only sibling who has never worn contacts. I could I can't even do it for Halloween. Oh gosh, I missed it. Before Ava wore my do it, she was like, Will you help me? And I was like, I can't touch your eyeball. I can't touch my eyeball.
SPEAKER_02I mean, just get used to it. I'd be surprised what you can do. I mean, but keep your beautiful brown eyes. I don't want to do it. It's fine. Okay, I think those are all my beauty things that I'm loving right now. Yeah, I could wrap it up. Okay, sounds good. Good stuff in there. Um, how about anything just like random around the house? Random life things that you're loving that are working for you right now?
SPEAKER_01I have been uh editing my closet like super hardcore. Oh, that's good. And it's been a process. I mean, I've probably been editing my closet for like two years now.
SPEAKER_02Tell me what what is the process? Like, are you just going like hanger by hanger? Are you throwing everything on the bed and going it only goes back in the closet if I love it? Like, what are you actually how are you deciding?
SPEAKER_01Hanger by hanger, I did empty all my drawers because I needed to kind of like reorganize where I like put things, and I just reorganized again. I'm constantly like moving things, like, oh no, all my purches should go here, all my sweaters should go here. So I started doing that and then saying, like, I'm only putting back like if I'm second guessing it, if I'm not loving it. So I did like a really hardcore purge of like all stuff I'd been hanging on to for like years. And then now, little by little, I'll like jump up, or if I'm getting dressed and I see something and I think like, I'm not like, see again, I'm going out. Didn't even look at that again. I haven't worn that in how long. So I I think I'm in the final phases of like now I am even editing things that I still really like. Okay. I think are pretty. Yeah, but they're just not for you for now. No, I and finally I'm looking at it going, would I wear that? Like I have this event to go to, would I wear that? And my answer is no, then what am I doing? It's consistently no.
SPEAKER_02It's been in my closet for like three years. I feel like I see people when they do like I'm going through my closet. And what's really helping is if I wear something, I turn the hanger this way or that way, and then you start seeing like, oh, I haven't worn that in like a year. Yeah. I'm like, that sounds like a lot of work.
SPEAKER_01What I don't like about that is there are things like there was a pair, so snake skin is back. Okay, you know that. I have no idea. Thank you for telling me. Snakeskin is back. I don't, I've never liked snakeskin. I do enjoy snake skin. I like it better than zebra.
SPEAKER_02Oh, see, they both feel trash. I I think why. I don't know why, because I feel like I love leopard. Right. I don't, I feel like I went through a zebra phase in like 13, 14. Oh, we yeah, we all everybody did. But I feel like snakeskin, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I I think that there's like I I love leopard, but I feel like for me, leopard has to be very it all has to be very small. Yeah, right. Okay. Um, but snakeskin is back. I like it better. Uh tiger, like all those prints are back like with like in like pop so had I done that, I would have gotten rid of I had a beautiful pair of snakeskin heels. Okay. And I didn't have heels, yeah. I had flats, I had because me because I have issues when snakeskin was in years ago, I bought loafers. One in every color, right? Every kind of shoe.
SPEAKER_02I can picture one pair of pink, they were pink like burgundy snakeskin like pumps that I had that I loved.
SPEAKER_01I feel like that wasn't, I don't know. Yeah, okay. I only had one though. And the mine are like more of a neutral color. But had I done that, so like I feel like there are certain items in your closet that if you do that, if I were to turn that hanger, I might not turn that hanger back around for years. For years. Well, now, like the again in spring, another trend is gonna be like denim is huge again. Yeah, where like a nice denim jacket that you get, like that's something you know what I mean. You might not wear it for a couple years. So I do understand that method, but I don't think it works for everything. So that's why.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and then I also feel like it is a a conversation of like, well, I mean, how much is this? I could just buy it again or something, but then it's like, okay, but if you had a nice one. Right. So that gets hard because you're like, how long do I wait for this to come back around or whatever? But do you also keep things that are just nostalgic or no? Like, do you have any of your like hoodies from high school with like your class on them? Or because I feel like I just recently got rid of some of that, like my class shirt or my hoodie with like Well, we know Ryan threw my class shirt out and he still won't like admit to it.
SPEAKER_01My tie-dye one. I don't want to draw I have a tie-dye one too, but I think I got rid of it finally. Yeah, I think he he threw it out and he'll never admit it. Of course not. Just like I'll never admit that I scratched his watch.
unknownBut I watched that happen.
SPEAKER_02Wait, Chris is editing this week. Chris, you gotta edit this week. I was like, he's there's top secret stuff on it.
SPEAKER_01He had just broken up with me. And he also was like, you can't scratch this watch. Or whatever. He knows now, yeah. Because I replayed it. And then I was like, I don't know what happened here.
SPEAKER_02Your diamond washed.
SPEAKER_01I was literally sapphire crystal. I was literally sitting diamond watched and hold up. I was sitting right by you and I was like, and he said, I was like, I'm like, watch this on the cement. And then I went, scratched, you're all scratched. But I mean, to be fair, shouldn't it have? I don't know. I didn't feel bad at all until he like when he proposed. I'm like a bystander, I was like, oh, this is so bad. When he proposed, I was like, yes, please don't let me be. Because it was me that scratched your watch. Okay, I feel bad now. We gotta start with a clean slate. Wait, why did he throw away your shirt though? How did that happen? Because I was just like wearing it too much. It said class of 2001. That's an intentional throw. And it was like actually worn off so that it just said like less. I feel so nostalgic. I know he did it. I know I don't lose things. Yeah. But it's your I didn't borrow it. Don't look at me. No, I know you didn't. No, I know. I know he threw that away. But yes, I do hang on to But also somebody has your CDs, and I just love that.
SPEAKER_02Like, you know. I know who you don't like misplace things. I know it. You are very like aware. I know where everything is. And you're very organized. Yeah. Okay. Because sometimes I keep stuff. I don't know. Do you remember when we all had jerseys made with our last name on them? I still have that. Oh, yeah. Silly is that? Like, I don't have those. That's what I'm saying. That looks stupid.
SPEAKER_01Certain is still I have my megaphone, of course. I have like certain things like that. I have some pieces of my grandma's like tops that like because I was her size. Oh, that's sweet. So I've never worn it. It is in my closet. And I'm like, no, I would. Like, it's so cute. It's like a really pretty, like beaded top. I do keep certain things.
SPEAKER_02Like my girls, and they're still Aria can still wear it. My husband's grandma knitted them or crocheted them, like little sweater vests. Like super cute little sleeveless. And like a matching set. And Arya wore her hers the other day, and Alessie's grown out of it. But I was like, what do I do with those? Oh, a bit. Keep them until they're adults and then hope that they have girls and they can hand up. Oh, and then you have them over for dinner and give them their bin, like my mom did. She was like, here, I'm a big one. They're boys. They're like, here's a sweater vest. Right. Like I was thinking to myself, like, okay, she's gonna outgrow that soon too. Now it's gonna be like, what do you do with that? Like, of course I'm gonna keep them. My kids, it's a whole other story. And some of their baby clothes and stuff too to give to them.
SPEAKER_01Every every piece of art, every backpack, every note, every note I wrote them for lunch, everyone.
SPEAKER_02Oh my word. I have I cannot wait. Can you invite me over to dinner on the day that you give Gina or give Ava her She's gonna burn it from a bonfire?
SPEAKER_01She's like, cool, cool. I you can see her face. I mean that's a lot. I have everything. I have every every volleyball tournament, every backpack. I when she was when she said, Okay, I'm done, I'm done with volleyball. I can like still barely talk about it without crying. Literally zipped her bag up with her shoes. Yeah. Everything. It's like over there. I have everything. We don't touch it. Oh, Gianni tried to touch it and he knows what he knows what happened with it. I literally brushed it. No, I've definitely got some.
SPEAKER_02And then some stuff I started taking pictures of. Like they would come to her idea. And I was like, Do you love this project? Do you want to take a picture of it? Because like I can't keep everything. I know. Well, you can. I can't. I can't. I cannot. Because I just start getting so stressed out about it. Because then it feels like mine to organize and mine to where's this getting stored? Yeah. What if it gets wet in my basement or garage attic? There you go. Everything. Like I have so many things. As long as you have a system. I have a system. I have a system. And also you are aware that they will likely take it from you and then throw it away probably.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Maybe, maybe they'll keep it. Or hey, even if they have one moment of like a couple hours where they go through it all, it was just all so like too precious. Like, I don't know. It's hard. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I also feel like if I just bump into like my middle school yearbook or something when I'm going through things in the basement that's in like a bin, that's like the best 30 minutes because you're like, I forgot all this. Like it is so fun.
SPEAKER_01But I actually think sentimental pieces in your wardrobe are what makes your style personal. I actually think that some of those things are worth like I love have a piece of jewelry or a handbag that my mom handed down or a scarf or a shirt that was my grandma's too brooch, like things that you can kind of like work in and modernize them. I think is great for personal style.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And as long as you're not trying to keep every single thing. You have, like you said, you have like selected pieces or whatever, so it's not like overwhelming your closet or anything like that. Yeah. God bless. I have not. I keep saying to Chris, I'm like, we gotta go through our closets. I gotta go through mine, he's gotta go through his side. The kids need to be done so bad, and it feels like I'm not in the mental space to tackle that yet. It feels so good though. If you just even like that's like spring, I just saw a news story, they're like tackling spring cleaning around your house. And I was like, no, shut up, channel four, don't like kill me. No, I am not.
SPEAKER_01If you know what I'm going through, like baby steps, because I think what's happening is you're overwhelming yourself thinking like emptying everything. No, or it's everybody's closet too. It's not just mine because my 10-year-old's not gonna do a good job doing her own. My kid, Gianni doesn't, Ava self-purges to the point where I'm like, hey bro, like keep some things. Like, dude, what are you doing up there? But if you just go through little by little, like every once in a while, I'll just jump up and be like, I'm not wearing this, this, this, this. Like, you can do it, you know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it doesn't have to be like a one-day prep, like tackle the whole thing project. Right. Um, okay, hard rate turn. I know you have one too. Well, because we're coming out of winter, uh, soft fur blanket. It's like the only blanket I'll use in my house right now. Like, I'll drag it around with me just because like it's like with your soft on your store. Why are you dragging it? No, but my kids do that. They wear like a blanket on their shoulders into the kitchen, and I'm like, ew, what are we doing? You're like getting crumbs on the bottom of the blanket. Plus, I tease them because they look like Professor Snape, like a children through the house. We know English wand waving. Like, I'm like, stop wearing the blanket, like clothes. But I like I don't I feel like you showed me one you got from Sam's or something, like a dupe. Oh, yeah, yeah. Because there was like a low viral blanket. It feels like rabbit fur. Yeah. And I'm obsessed with mine. Did you get it from the same? I did not get the same one. In fact, I think mine was an Amazon one. Yeah, there's some nice ones.
SPEAKER_01Even though, like, I do, I would like to. Every other blanket feels like a waste of time right now. I want to feel the Lola blanket, though, because I'm like, what is it? How good could it be? It's like so much.
SPEAKER_02And then you're like, I have to wash this at some point. You're afraid you're gonna ruin it. Right. I don't know. I don't even know what the Lola blanket is. I've only seen like the dupes. It's like a$250,$300 blanket.
SPEAKER_01I mean, we're not, I don't know, that's not my tax bracket. I don't want to spend that money. Promptly my kids would spill like orange juice. What do you mean? Or like somebody would throw up on it. Right. That got dark. I mean, I don't know. That's that's that's an issue of my house.
SPEAKER_02Any other like random what you're loving, things you're doing?
SPEAKER_01Um, I am loving, I think I've talked about this, but like waking up, like taking time in the morning. Every morning I drink hot water with an orange slice. Um and like taking that time to like do that, to drink my coffee. Like, I don't want to drink my coffee on that. Yeah, I want to drink it like in a pretty mug. I want to take my time, and I feel like that like sets my like the tone for the day.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's also a little bit of a luxury as your kids get older that like you can like I can do this, like why wouldn't I? That's nice. Yeah, that feels really good. I definitely still am kind of waking up and like what needs to be done. And then I do have my cup of coffee like immediately because otherwise I wouldn't be functioning. Yeah, but I don't, yeah, I don't know if that's something I would like to work into my schedule. I can't do it every day because of my work schedule, but I feel like some days I could, and I still don't like that thoughtful about it.
SPEAKER_01I mean, and you know, you like I in my mind I tell myself like follow the plan, not my mood. And so if I just like there are times where I wake up and think, like, no, I just want coffee. I don't feel like going through it. It's such a like good little follow the plan, not my mood. I don't like that. Follow the plan. I say it to myself too sometimes sounds very self-disciplined, and I don't like that. I walk into the gym and be like, follow my plan, not the mood, follow the plan, not the mood. That's so good. Yeah. If I follow my mood, who knows what I'm saying? I screenshot the other day getting pistachio shots in my hands. Put her right there.
SPEAKER_02Right here, please. Refer to our previous habit though. That sounds like a TikTok, like a joke. I it would be a funny video, right? You should have you should have got the girl at four in the morning. No, I just uh screenshot a quote. This guy, this is completely unrelated, but I liked your little follow the plan at the mood. It was like whatever you're not changing, you're choosing. And I was like, oh, that's so good. And then I like deleted it because I didn't like it because it was too real, real. It was hurting my feelings.
SPEAKER_01That's true.
SPEAKER_02I'm not loving that. We're not gonna talk about that because yeah, great. Yeah, I know. Right, duh. Still not doing it. Thanks for saying that. Thanks for making me feel guilty on a Tuesday. Um, okay, here's this a random one. I'm sure everybody in the whole world knows about it, but I'm particularly loving it right now. Also in winter in Michigan, I just feel like I want to do less and less grocery shopping, but uh subscribe and save. Oh yeah. I'm starting to find I was always a little bit like I always do it. If you don't know what I'm talking about, Amazon's got the subscribe and save where you can just add things. They ship it to you every month. You can go in and delete them anytime. You don't even have to add it to your budget, they don't count. I don't. Your mileage might vary on that. Mine's very much part of my I'm like, it just comes. It's just magical. It doesn't count. They do charge you, but you save like between the products vary, but like five to fifteen percent just off the top because you're setting up like a routine. So do you have five, right? You have to have five items in your little cart, and then it can be different. You can delete them at any time. You don't always have to commit to it coming every month. So a lot of times I'll see, like, I'm talking about it because usually I'm like on a hunt for cheaper coffee because we just go through so much coffee, and I like okay, if I get it at Costco, it's this much, whatever. But sometimes if I can catch it right, like I'll get a subscribe and save that even beats like the warehouse stores and stuff, and then it's like it came to my door, that's beautiful. Yeah, like I love that. I love it. I'm adding more and more to it every month. My like it comes like a ridiculously sized box, and the kids are like, What's in there? I'm like, dog food, microblade, uh not microblade, derma planing razors, just like the most random assortment. And I did just get like 300 derma planing razor. Chris pulled it out and he's like, What's going on? He's like, I'm shaving everybody. You no, but I was like, they were so cheap if I like ordered them in bulk, and then I'm not like going back and forth and 15% off if I added them to my subscriber. Yeah. So just like a random assortment of garbage. But I love it because it really does like they give you the added bonus of savings. I do my savings, and I'm not leaving my house. Like, thank you. My eye patches, collagen, all that. Yeah, anything you're using like routinely, and sometimes it makes more sense to grab stuff at Costco or Sam's or somebody who has a good price, but sometimes they beat it. Yeah, you gotta do the math. And I love myself. I mean, if you are getting charged for your things, but clearly some beers arrive for free. That is magic. It is magic.
SPEAKER_01Special delivery, big box of toys for me. None of it came out of my budget. Um, I'm loving, like, and don't judge me, but I've had a nugget ice machine for a while. Let you know I'm going to reserve my ability to judge you until I hear the whole thing. So, loving my nugget ice machine, and I like actually run it and fill up bags of nugget ice to put in my freezer to like keep it so that I always have nugget ice on hand. Uh-huh. What I don't want you to judge me on is um my like my Coke Zero addiction. Oh, no judgment. Now an addiction. Oh, and I know how to do it.
SPEAKER_02It's hard, but it's like better than what you could be doing.
SPEAKER_01Right? And I'm not even a pop, I didn't even drink grow up drinking pop. Like, we're not a pop household.
SPEAKER_02But my kids started expecting it now. They're like, is there pop in the fridge out there? And I was like, even if there is, you're not having it. So now we have like a weekend rule, but then I'm drinking like a Coke Zero every day.
SPEAKER_01I know. But do you tell myself like one per day? What I'm loving is I saw, and most people probably saw it too, but like a cool hack for loading your fridge. Okay. You open, so say you buy like the case of whatever pop Coke Zero and whatever. Coke zero soda, whatever region you live in. Yeah. You open the the back part of the box. Okay. Put it on your fridge shelf, open the top the front part of the box and push it out. Slide it out. Slide it out.
SPEAKER_02Oh, this is like an ASMR reloading.
SPEAKER_01They load perfectly. All the labels are like face. Because I when I open it, I want everything, you know what I mean? That's how I am too. I was like, why didn't I know about this? I wouldn't have thought of that either. It's I stand.
SPEAKER_02Wow, I'm feeling like you're just like stupid right now. Literally, I was out in the garage yesterday with like my uh audiobook going. Yeah, and Arya's like, hey, what are you doing out there? Because I was out there for a long time. Standing in my garage, I actually love stuff like that. Like, I wanted to organize. We have a bunch of sparkling water. This sounds so stupid, honestly, too. Sparkling water, and then some Coke Zeros and some Coke Zero cherries, whatever. And I want them all lined up. I want like the Coke with the Coke, the water with the water, everybody's label. And I'm like, why would I I stand there, hold the box.
SPEAKER_01Me too. That's what I was doing until I saw this. And I was like, what? Literally, you open it, put it on the shelf, open the other one, push your hand through, and it's all 12 of them.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that's beautiful. Yeah, you should videotape it. You could be making money off that right now. I mean, and then you like tick like on the tickan, like no, everyone's over that, I guess. Oh my gosh. I was over it when it started. I cannot with that. I hate it. I can't do it. It's all the stuff. It's like the this is how I put on my moisturizer. You're like, nobody puts their moisturizer on like that. But do you think it's our age? Because like square like gobs of it, and you're like, are you paying for that product? You just use like four times as much.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. There's things that people do now that bother me more than they like. Ryan was eating popcorn last night. It's never bothered me before. Oh. I couldn't take it anymore. Shh. And I was like. Chewing. I'm gonna walk away. And when I come back, I really hope you're done eating the popcorn.
SPEAKER_02Sounded like a threat. I'm gonna walk away, and when I come back, there better not be popcorn anybody's day. It sounds like a threat.
SPEAKER_01But I'm like, I'm gonna walk away.
SPEAKER_02What I've got five minutes is feeling seen because there is so much content out there. That's how I've lived my whole life. It's getting way worse. The popcorn, the breathing, the mouth chewing, the scraping, your teeth on your fork. That's my whole life. And then I think because women of a certain age, it accelerates, and that's what like my algorithm is now. It's like, oh, are you parried menopause too? Do you want to murder your husband? Seriously. So I see so much of it, and I'm like, I feel so seen. I'm like showing Chris regularly. Like, you see, I'm not a monster. No. I mean, I am. But like also, there's a lot of us, and some of it might be out of my control. Right?
unknownOh, the pop.
SPEAKER_02And nobody wants to go to the movie theater though. People throw like fistfuls of popcorn at their face. Some goes in, some falls back in the bucket and they chew with their mouth open. I know. And I just can't parent all of that. Didn't your mom teach you to chew with your mouth?
SPEAKER_01I can't be in public. I can't be trusted. That's what's ooh, that's what's happening. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, but isn't it? It just feels good to hear that other people are like, oh no, that's a real problem.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, you're not alone. Yeah. We're just all monsters.
SPEAKER_02I love the guy. Oh, I f I should find the video. A guy who like dresses like his wife, and he's like talking about how she's in perimenopause, and he's like, Does your wife walk around like I smell old water? A dog that just walked through a you know, like, and it's like we were dying laughing, but it's I feel very sane. It's so true. It's so true. I mean, I'm here for you with the popcorn.
SPEAKER_01If you need backup. And he was done. He was done eating it when I he made sure he was. Yeah. He was scared. Like, I can't take I love you so much. I can't take it anymore. If you're that hungry, like can I make you a soft sandwich?
SPEAKER_02Can I spoon feed you this soup?
SPEAKER_01Oh, you want some applesauce or something?
SPEAKER_02Like, oh my god. You just buy squeezy pouches and stuff. Seriously, all our food comes out of a squeezy pouch. Oh, I can't handle it. I can't handle it. I do love that. I have that on my list though. I love seeing things that I'm like, oh, see? I thought I was the only one in the world. Yeah. No, you're not. I'm loving that for myself. I feel very validated in a lot of my weird, weird things. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, my last okay, so I have one more. Great. You're done. No, I'm done. I'm gone. My last one that I think is pretty cool that I saw. I'm a big like counter spray girl. Yeah. But I realized that like I gotta like cool it with like everything doesn't have to be like perfumed. Oh yeah, okay. I was like, are we cooling it with the counter spray?
SPEAKER_02Because I'm back to all the disinfectant stuff.
SPEAKER_01No, but I mean for daily like wipe-ups, I saw one of my favorite influencers did it, and I was like, oh, I'm gonna try that. She just takes like, and I already had it, like a glass spray bottle. Okay. And you just put like a few drops of blue dawn. Okay, and then just fill it up with water. Oh, yeah. She just sprays your counters with that. Yeah. Print like very fresh, cleans it nice, does it?
SPEAKER_02Nice little smell. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I've been I've been doing that. What were you using before? Like uh specific counter cleaner. Okay. Mrs. Myers, but I would buy like every season, like if it was winter, I would have like snow done. Okay, cool. Every seasonal. So I'm like, hey, I I got the soaps, I got this, I got the candles, I got my perfume. I gotta cool it.
SPEAKER_02Sometimes I love like a little thing like that, where you're like, oh, I just buy the spray bottle once. I already have all the other stuff.
SPEAKER_01The peppermint one at Christmas time smells so good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, some of them is it's just fun to have them. But all right, I love that for you. Yeah. I might need to adopt that one too. I'm trying to think what I use on my counters, but I'm also back to like going through the natural thing. Yeah. Now I'm using a lot of Clorox waves again. Same.
