Hi Gina. Hi Heather. Welcome back.
SPEAKER_00Welcome back.
SPEAKER_01Here we are again. And it's summer. We're at the beach. I mean it's sort of summer in Michigan. Yeah. We had a glimpse and then it's a little bit chilly again, but it's coming. We're crawling. It is, it's a slow start to summer. Once it comes, it will be hot. Yes. But I feel like we're both rocking like hoodies and sweatshirts today.
SPEAKER_00And if you don't live here, it was like 90, 90, and then it was like 60. 60 overnight.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Just like a 30 degree drop, and your body's just like, good luck with all of that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And you buy your flowers. Try not to get a headache. Yeah, but don't plant them because then there's a frost. Did you do all your flowers? I bought them all. They're all in safely in my garage.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I was gonna say. Okay. Because I get nervous. Usually they say by Memorial Day weekend you're in the clear for like no frost. Your flowers should survive. But I feel like I've been burned. Also, I'm just I'm like not into it this year. I know. It feels busy and I'm like, when am I even gonna do all that? So usually I get excited for it. This year, not so much.
SPEAKER_00I think I'm gonna plant on Saturday. So I feel like I should be safe because I know the the ladies at the um nursery said, like, do not plant. This was yesterday, do not plant tonight, do not plant tomorrow. And I told them, I'm like, I'm thinking Saturday. You should be okay. It should be in the clear. So all right, fingers crossed for that. Fingers crossed. But speaking of all things summer, I was gonna say, and glow up and beautifying, right? Making your house pretty are coming to you with the official summer glow up tips. Official. That sounds serious. These are official. Who made them official?
SPEAKER_01Us stamped official. These are stamped.
SPEAKER_00These are some of these we have done, have been doing. Some of these we have found tips over the internet that we want to implement into our already current routines. And so these are just some fun things that we thought we would share with our viewers.
SPEAKER_01And kind of all over the place, right? Like a little bit of beauty, a little bit of this, a little food, a little bit of movement.
SPEAKER_00Anything that makes you feel better for summer coming. Yes, new season, new you. These are all the tips to glow up and feel your best self.
SPEAKER_01I love it. Or at least try. Um I'll complain about it in about a month. But I do love summer in Michigan just because I feel like it does feel like spring is tentative. It's still pretty cold. Yeah, spring is cold. All of a sudden, like our neighborhoods buzzing, there's kids everywhere and parents out walking, and it's like everybody just comes to life again in Michigan and summer. So it does very much feel like some kind of fresh start.
SPEAKER_00I feel like weirdo. I'm so it's my hormones and you were laughing at me like I was being over the top. As you're saying it, I'm thinking of like the summer nostalgia and then getting like weepy, and I don't want to cry on every why would I cry on summer glow-ups? But I was walking the other day and just smelling the like it is time of life, but like the warm air, and like you said, like the sun, the neighborhood buzzings. Oh, like it just it I felt like I smelled my childhood.
SPEAKER_01I know. Like you're ice cream truck. Yeah, I will say the birds are obnoxious though. Like we are all up early in our house, anyways. But I was so tired last night we were like up late, whatever. And then um, we slept with the window open because it's like a nice, crisp summer night, whatever. And the birds this morning, I was like ready to throw something at them. But it is like you hear all the like tweet tweets and all the warm air and the sun on your face. And it just feels like a good, it's a start of something good. Yeah, I wish I could sleep with my window open. And our kids are still like they do summer vacation, we're not on year-round school, so that has like a million good memories.
SPEAKER_00Oh, my kids are counting down. Yeah, counting down. They both slept with their windows open, but I cannot. Oh, allergies. Uh, either allergies or because we're on the first floor, someone might kidnap me.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's a legitimate concern. I don't think about that because we're on a second story. Yeah. I love sleeping with the window open.
SPEAKER_00I wish I could. If there's certain seasons where like if my allergies, if the pollen isn't high or anything like that, I could. But and I mean, our window, if you look from behind like in the back of the house, it's raised up a little bit. Okay, but pretty easy access. All right. I guess that would make some choice about it. And Ryan would sleep through it, or he'd be like the taker. He'd be like, Yep, fine. He's like, Good luck, hope you have a lot of money. He'd be like, things are so easy now. No, he wouldn't. I know because I ask him like a couple times a week. I'll be like, Would you be sad if I died? How sad would you be? Like, I'm sleeping.
SPEAKER_01You're still checking in on that? Yeah, you don't? Like, no. Well, I do. No, I just like to assume he would fall apart. Yeah. So I do tell him he has to get married, remarried. That's the thing I remind him of consistently because we have daughters.
SPEAKER_00You're so nice.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, it's for it's not for him. It's for my daughters. They need a mom. No, I tell him I will. I don't care if he's lonely.
SPEAKER_00I will hold you.
SPEAKER_01He should just miss me his entire life, but also he should find another woman. So my girls have a mom. But but they would have me. It's not the same. I'm so sorry. I love you. And they have wonderful grandmas and aunts, and all of that. It's not the same. I'll just make sure to remind her. I'll be like, you're not as good as her. Your mom would be very disappointed. Tell my kids. Your mom wouldn't like that outfit.
SPEAKER_00I will. I'd be I'd like to do that. Your mom looks too pale. Your mom doesn't like her. I know it.
SPEAKER_01Okay. We've already tangent it. Tangent. Tangent. All right. So, what is one of your first tips for us in our summer glow up series?
SPEAKER_00Okay. So, one of my first tips, I have been implementing for I would say a solid six months now. Okay. And have noticed a difference. Lemon water, which everyone talks about. Yeah. But specifically hot lemon water first thing in the morning. Like I don't even take a sip of anything. That is the first thing that hits my digestive tract.
SPEAKER_01And now you said that. And I feel like you were saying, like, eh, and I don't know if the lemon is even important or whatever. But I started doing the hot water. Yeah. And I do like it. I don't know if I feel anything life-changing yet, but I do feel like it's the best thing to put in my body before I hit my body with like all the caffeine and the I do like it. I've definitely made that a routine now. And I sometimes will throw like lemon or something in it, but it's more just about the warm liquid, like the water.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And I mean, I think they've said like the lemon helps like with detoxification, hydration. Also, just to taste like a little special drinking hot water. But it is, it's Chinese medicine. They say like first thing in the morning, the first thing you should consume is that.
SPEAKER_01So I feel like it makes so much sense too. Like, why is that just not like basic common sense? Like your body is whatever, 75% water. We know how important water is. Then the first thing we put in our body is like stuff. Do you know what I mean? Like, why would you not start with like a clean cup of water?
SPEAKER_00Or like chugging ice water. I know I get it. You wake up, you're thirsty. But yeah. Yeah. So that would be number one on the list of things to do. I feel like just for everything for your skin. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But particularly in summer, you're gonna hydrate. You want to make sure your system is really like regular and you don't feel bloated or icky.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it does help with bloating.
SPEAKER_01That was one of my things just in general, is it is so much easier for me to drink water in the summer. Because like you're thirsty, it's warmer. Like in the winter, it's a little more of a struggle. I still am like a big water drinker. I don't like I don't never drink water. But I'm saying in the summer, it's so much easier. But then I feel like I meet people who are like, uh, I hate water, you know? And I'm like, there's so many good things to do with your water though. I'm feeling giggly because I was like, Are you gonna cry?
SPEAKER_00Did I hit a nerf? You are such a water drinker, you always have your thing. Do you remember I still feel so bad about it? The one kid where I was sitting next to you, and something was actually like wrong. You ended up having like a medical medical emergency. Yeah, but you were like sitting next to me. Chugging water, and I was like, dude, calm down. I still think about it randomly, like, I'm so mean. But I was like, you're like the hospital, and I'm like, ever.
SPEAKER_01But I was like, transparency. I think what I thought my abdominal pain was was like maybe not drinking enough water, and my system was not. We were traveling. Yeah. You know how that goes. So I was doubling down on the water. Like, I will fix this problem if it's fixable and it was not solvable with water. Oh no. Just chugging. But that's what I'm saying. I feel I almost feel bad for people who are like, yeah, I don't uh plain water. And I'm like, yeah, it's so important. So then I feel like there's so many good options now. Oh, yeah. We are buying in bulk, like the true lemon. I know you guys use them too. There's true lime. There's even a variety of just like the powders that are literally crystallized, like lemon and lime, or there's all the like lemonade flavors and stuff. There are no garbage in them. And I can like encourage my kids to drink. So we're all like, grab a packet, drink more water. If that's all it takes to get you to drink more water, there's like good options out there.
SPEAKER_00My favorite is I keep the um crystallized, the true orange.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. Chris loves orange stuff. Yeah, I'm not like a huge fan. I like all the like lemonades. There's like raspberry lemonade and whatever, and then I'll like make a giant Stanley full of just like drop a little like fresh lemon or something in there too. I don't know. It's just so much easier to like chug water. So important. And it is important, definitely.
SPEAKER_00So important.
SPEAKER_01All right, what else do you have?
SPEAKER_00So another one that I have. Um, speaking of, I was saying that the lemon water helps with bloating. Oh, okay. Another thing is keeping your digestive track, like your stomach, everything in like order. And it sounds like silly, but especially in the summer, like there's all these. Let's get into it. Let's get into it. Like, are we are we putting it on the other hand? I know women, right?
SPEAKER_01I know. Let's get into it. But it's kind of a life. It's we're crying more, we're doing everything else less, right? Okay. Everything's a mess. All right, so what like hardcore steps are we taking?
SPEAKER_00So I feel like there's a few really important steps that again, these are things that I've implemented. And it's you know, summer. We're we're wearing less clothes. Yeah. We have cute outfits. We're just outside of practicality, you are wearing less.
SPEAKER_01It is warm. And a bloated day can kill an outfit. So well, you just feel icky too. I feel it. And I or you're like, I can't cover up more. That's not an option. So if you feel particularly bloated or yucky, it's just like uh.
SPEAKER_00Yes. And I think that there are some really important steps. So one of the things um that I do is every morning, the first thing before I eat on an empty stomach, I will take either coconut cult, which is like one of my favorites, but it can be difficult to find. Okay. And it's a little expensive. It's just a yogurt, right? It's a high, so it's like 50 um billion uh I forget what it is. Yeah, like a live use bacteria. It's honestly for what you're taking, because you're only taking a tablespoon of it, it is the most like packed version probiotic of a probiotic.
SPEAKER_01And it's delightful. It tastes good. I've seen some like reels and stuff about it, and people are like, braced your stuff. You know what I mean? Because like if your body's not used to maybe that, like maybe you introduce it in smaller quantities or whatever. So we were in Florida and I almost bought it on vacation because I was like, I think, yeah, I think I need that. It will save you.
SPEAKER_00And my mom was like, get out of here. I got yogurt in the fridge. And I'm like, No, I'm telling you, Ma. I did like a uh DoorDash or whatever from Whole Foods, got her hooked on it. She's like, Oh, this stuff really does work. Like, so that or kefir, kefir, however you pronounce that. Um, that's what I've been doing lately, just like the plain, you know, unflavored. I just pour a little cup. You just do a tablespoon of the coconut cold. Coconut cult to table.
SPEAKER_01So it's not, it comes like it's like a yogurt, right? It's like a yogurt container. Yeah, and you're not eating it like for breakfast. You're just taking like it's like almost a supplement. Yes.
SPEAKER_00You're taking like a just a tablespoon. And my favorite one, I don't even know if that they have it anymore. I used to have to order it just from them because in the stores it's hard to find. I like the passion fruit, it's very delicious. Um, but yeah, that or kefir on an empty stomach. Some people say do it at night. I I've heard of a few people saying, like, actually taking the kefir. I feel like it's called kefir, but I know like look at it.
SPEAKER_01We'll call it kefir, kefir, keer kefir.
SPEAKER_00I always just say kefir. Okay, whatever it is. Yeah, some people take it at night and they say they wake up with a flat stomach. But I prefer amazing. What?
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna try it for sure.
SPEAKER_00Spread the word.
SPEAKER_01Results later, right?
SPEAKER_00But maybe if it was almost flat to begin with. Right. I know that's always a problem. But for me, I prefer I take my probiotic at night before I go to bed. Okay. And then in the morning, empty stomach before I eat, I take whatever the coconut cult or the kefir kefir, whatever you call it. Um, so probiotic and just loading your body with probiotics and digestive enzymes, which can be all different things. I mean, some people just say eat pineapple.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I have like papaya, is that one of them? They like papaya digestive enzymes, papaya as well.
SPEAKER_00I have a really great um peppermint pill supplement, and it's delightful. They're little like gel tabs, so they're easy to like swallow. And I don't know when you burp them up, you're burping up peppermint. Like it's not anything like bad, but like I feel like after you eat that has helped settle my stomach, but just making sure that you keep that stuff in your mind, like in your mind, too.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah, it does have to be a little bit intentional. It would be lovely if our diet like is just packed with all of the like nutritious and yes, but it has to almost be more something that you're like, I gotta intentionally go for things, which was a very small one that I was thinking like this seems common sense, but like it just because it's Michigan, we don't live anywhere like tropical. I feel like this is the time too where we like load up on all the fruits and stuff that like maybe throughout the year you're barely getting, or you get them in their garbage. I know. So like I did a not I feel like it's not tropical, but like a giant fruits haul this week. I was like, it's summer fruit time. So like watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple, mangoes, all the things because I love just like loading up, cutting it up, putting it in the fridge. Have you ever seen the suggestion that like watermelon, especially, or like a watery fruit, that you put it in a pitcher when you cut it? I actually started doing this, it's very smart. So I feel like when you cut a watermelon, it gets very like juicy, and then it like sits in the juice, gets kind of nasty. After a couple days, you're like, eh, throw it out. So this woman was saying, like, pour it into dump it into like a big pitcher, and then just like dump the juice out and it preserves it longer.
SPEAKER_00I'll have to do that because I'm very adamant about like my fruit. I put paper towel underneath, yeah, paper towel underneath. Right, because it just gets all like yeah, and that's kept it, but watermelon, I'll have to try that.
SPEAKER_01Just for I've only tried it for watermelon, but I do feel like it makes a lot of sense that you can get rid of that excess juice and that it's not sitting down in the juices or whatever. But I just this week was like, who's got all the produce on sale? Because you know me, I'm always like looking for a sale, but like load it up on all the summer fruits.
SPEAKER_00Well, and watermelon is such a perfect fruit to eat too because it's low calorie and you're hydrating. Yeah, there's so much water content and you feel full.
SPEAKER_01Feeding little bits to my dog because we went on a really long walk, and I'm like, I don't know, I'm a new dog mom, so I'm like, I don't know how long can a cab a poo walk before she dies. Right. Like she's little and we went on a real long walk, and it was on that hot day, like 80, 90. So I came home and I was like hammering watermelon. I was like, oh, you need some too, little thing. But like just refreshing and immediately replenishing your body with some good stuff.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, all that stuff. Electrolytes, that's another one. And I have a favorite electrolyte um brand. Like a mix or something you drop in. Yeah, like a packet, the uh their L M N N T. Oh, yeah, we talked about it. Is the brand?
SPEAKER_01Because I won't buy my kids Gatorade.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, those. That's huge. But staying hot, just everything for your skin, for your energy levels, like staying hydrated is so important.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I feel like we do the um, what is the electrolytes that liquid Costco and Sam's. Yes, liquid IV. Yeah, and they have like fun flavors and the kids love them in a water bottle. Like if you're playing a sport on a hot day for sure. Yeah, so much better than some of the alternatives. I think.
SPEAKER_00Yep. All right. Um, another one I don't want to keep like. No, you keep going.
SPEAKER_01I'll jump in when I have some.
SPEAKER_00Uh I have a deodorant that I would suggest, and it's by Necessaire. It's a um what is the word now? Is it something with an M.
SPEAKER_01I've never even heard of this brand name.
SPEAKER_00So it's got an acid in it. Okay. When you put it on, and I use this one just at night because I use a different one for if I'm um I'm looking it up while we're talking. Okay. I was too actually. I use a different one for when I like work out. Is it Mandelic? Mandelic? Yes. It's I use the brown one. It smells amazing. I I can't even pronounce it. It's like olibanum is the scent. Okay. But it's a mandelic acid, and what it does is it lightens your armpits.
SPEAKER_01Oh, see, I'm super pale. I don't really have the dark pits then.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Mine are not particularly dark. Yeah. But I want to. And some people say, like, oh, they've wiped with like glycolic acid, like underneath after they shave or whatever, to kind of help. Actually, you probably wouldn't even need deodorant as much if you were doing that.
SPEAKER_01But um, just the different like acids keeping you like is it about your skin tone, or is it also just like a better, stronger deodorant for summer? Or like, is that have anything that factors in, or is it just about like man, it's on sale now too.
SPEAKER_00Hey, everybody, get it now because I paid full price. It's on sale for $19. Sorry, I'm looking at it. No, it's okay.
SPEAKER_01I just want to know if it works good. Um, you know, I work as good as or better than whatever other deodorant you're wearing in the rest of the year.
SPEAKER_00I haven't tested it like in a workout. I've only used it like at night because there was another one I was using by Solter. Okay. And that one was like meant to do the same thing. That one's more like gel though. It's a liquidy, which I know a lot of people have uh an issue with like texture and stuff. Yeah, it's a serum deodorant. That one's good too, and it's five percent AHA, and it's cheaper as well. But any of these that have like the AHA or the mandelic acid are gonna help to like lighten your pits, which we want for summer tops.
SPEAKER_01Well, I was gonna say if you're you you have your arms out more and definitely you're more exposed. Yeah, so I would suggest saltire or the necessaire is the one that I'm that was actually a question I had for you too, because I feel like I have a whole different set of not all products or whatever, but like makeup and stuff, I feel like changes so much for me. Well, I feel like I immediately need to get like a little darker tone, but I also want lighter coverage, something more sheer, something with tons of sunscreen in it. So I feel like do you have like do you change out like your face makeup and stuff for the summer? You know, I'm not really you already wear like less coverage, more sheer.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I wear like tinted sunscreens throughout the year, and then I I just kind of like build on them. And I do have one little like a foundation stick that I love that I'll put on if I'm going somewhere and I want like some heavier coverage, but I'm not a foundation girl. Yeah, okay, I remember that.
SPEAKER_01I feel like this is the time where I'm like, if I can get a little sun, yeah, and I have like no acne issues, I can go to something more sheer, lighter on like lighter feeling, yeah, darker color. You know, like I cannot wear my winter makeup. I would look insane. Yeah, like a clown face.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't know. For whatever reason, I I and I keep a tan. Ava always says that to me too. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Listen, for my blonde pale girls, like we have to change things up. And I do feel like a more full coverage, whatever. When you just have like permanently nice skin tone and like, you know, not a lot of problems and stuff. I feel like maybe your year looks a little similar. Yeah, mine is like, okay, more color like drastically different color. And it's not like I'm laying out every day, just like if I take a walk or something, I'm getting more sun. It's building up a little bit at a time. All of a sudden my makeup looks like crazy on my face.
SPEAKER_00Can you just buy like some of the bronzing drops and like drip? Because like when I do when you put on how are you putting your foundation?
SPEAKER_01But I also do try to switch to like a lighter feel, lighter feel, yeah. Like a more transparent, it's got like sunscreen in it or something, so I'm not doing sunscreen and this and whatever. I just feel like I change up my products a little bit for summer.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, which is normal, ideally. Because I feel like also if I have like a major breakout or something, I'm like break out the winter foundation. I'm actually trying to go like even lighter than a tinted, like I mean this is amazing.
SPEAKER_01I would I would go bareface if I felt like I could pull that off.
SPEAKER_00I feel like you can you're yeah beautifully beautiful and generous, but that's not true. No, I mean I see you up close, but I I'm actually going into like water tints.
SPEAKER_01I don't even know what that is.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm excited. I can show you upstairs, but okay.
SPEAKER_01It's very it's very listening and it sounds like water and tent. So like just the thinnest product possible. Yes, like barely anything on your face. Yeah, and it's buildable. Ideally, that's what you want. You don't want to be like mucking up your face with all this like product. But but for summer for sure. Some of us pale girlies don't have a lot of choice. Uh yeah. No, I get it.
SPEAKER_00But tinted tinted sunscreens are my favorite and just sunscreen in general. Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen everywhere, like all over your body, but especially your face, especially if you're using like any retinoids or anything like that.
SPEAKER_01If then if you're more susceptible, you'll deactivate them and you'll And like do you think? I don't know if you wear like a hat or whatever, but I started noticing like I gotta remember to do my part. Oh yeah. You know what I mean? Like usually it's parted down the middle or the side, and I'm just like out for a walk, and I was like, my scalp's a little tender. Like I forget that, and then that's like a Terrible place that people don't think of. Yeah. Like very dangerous to not have full coverage on your head in the sun and stuff.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And it doesn't seem fun, but I mean. And it's not going to be some instant, like, oh, wear your sunscreen and you'll glow up for summer. But it's like it's like drinking water. You're protecting your skin. You are protecting your skin from wrinkles and sunspots and age spots and yeah, sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen.
SPEAKER_01Which reminds me of a product I just ordered, so I wish I could talk about it more, but like I'll come back. Have you ever or do you own the Kopari body mist that has like the sheer sun, like the sunscreen, but also like it's like a glow oil? Yeah, they make a face one. Oh, do you I have both in my cart? It's on the way, but like I was I saw it on sale and I was like, oh, I need this. It reminded me, it was giving me like teenage vibes where like, do you remember your like sparkly body mist or whatever? So like I'm hoping it's not that sparkly or whatever. It's not just like a little of it. It's called like rose gold, like a little shimmer or whatever.
SPEAKER_00Will I like it? You'll like it. I like the um Sol de Janeiro one better, and it's like a um, it's a pump. Okay.
SPEAKER_01And oh my god. Yeah, the spritzing thing got to me because I was like, is this my my bathroom floor? I'm picturing just like glitter mist. But like I might even spritz some into my hand and mix them with like lotion. Pat it on.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But the Sol de Janeiro one is like when you put it on and it's like in the sun. Oh yeah. You have I mean it's if it's a sunscreen and you're out by the pool, like why not have fun? They copper tone.
SPEAKER_01But every time you live in Brazil for a day, yeah, and you have like shimmering sun-kissed. I mean, we only get like two months of it in Michigan.
SPEAKER_00You gotta live it up. Right. Well, and on that same idea, I don't even have this written down, but another glow-up tip. A lot of companies now, I know Sol de Janeiro makes one, but a lot of companies, even like Palmer's, they make like a tinted, um like a body makeup that gives you like a little bit oh yeah, I wouldn't say a sparkle, but a glimmer. Okay. So when you're going out, you can kind of put it on like your collarbones like highlighter almost for your face. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Like it would be the sun-kissed areas.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Patrick Ta makes one. There's a lot of brands that do them, and you want to look for ones that are non-transferable so you don't stain your clothes. Right. I feel like that's another like glowy, like yeah.
SPEAKER_01Who doesn't want to have glowing skin? Right. Now, see, this is unfair because I was gonna ask you how far do you start like prepping back? But like you do have like permanent tan. You just have like a nice darker skin color. Yeah. But like for now, I feel like I'm already behind. I should have been like tanning drops in my lotion so I could like subtly build up a little color for summer. Usually I like work backwards and I'm like, okay, it's gonna start getting warm. So you're gonna start? Yes, it's like a whole thing. I can't just like wake up one day and be like, look at me now. I have brown golden skin.
SPEAKER_00I mean, if it makes you feel any better, I spent my entire life growing up in grade school wanting to be blonde hair and blue eyes.
SPEAKER_01No, it does not make me feel better because I know how much harder it is to be like, I have to gradually look like I'm getting a natural tan. Three drops. It's like chemistry over there. But oh, I forgot to write down the ones that I really like. I will come back or I'll drop them in like a comment or something. Yeah. But like you just put them in, because I hate all the tanning creams. It freaks me out so bad. I know. I'm like, my I'm gonna look like a weirdo. I missed a patch, but if you just like drop them in your lotion, I'll look it up real quick or something. I feel like that's like a slow and steady way to start giving. Maybe I've had a bunch of them, and I feel like the one that I'm using right now I should have written down and I will I will drop it in. Everybody's got them. I mean, I could probably find them, but whatever. I just feel like that's a whole thing. Like it's like a process for me where I'm like start dropping a few in your your lotion.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I do get more pale. It's not like I'm like perma tan.
SPEAKER_01No, but your your uh pale is like I would never achieve on my best summer. Yeah, it's just a totally different like uh skin tone.
SPEAKER_00And I don't really have to try, which I s I feel like sounds like braggy.
SPEAKER_01No, it's just different skin tones.
SPEAKER_00It's I take after my dad. Because my mom, my mom's Sicilian, like you would think, but she is like pale, she does not like carry a tan. And I remember always looking at my dad and I'd go, Dad, how are you tanning? He's like, I don't know, I went to the mailbox. And now that I'm like Yeah, it's just like happened so it does easily.
SPEAKER_01You're not putting any like thought into it.
SPEAKER_00Like I went for a walk on, like you said, one of the like hotter days, enjoying the you know, wasn't even thinking. I just went for a walk. I wasn't thinking, like, I'm gonna go tan. And then I forget who I saw, and they're like, Oh my gosh, you're already tan.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, I just I feel like you've kept your tan from like last summer in Mexico. That's what I'm saying. Like it just it's just your skin. Yeah, yeah. But also, if you don't mind, you're also careful because you know, you were all like getting checked at the doctor and stuff, and you want to make sure that you're like not overdoing it in the sun and being cautious and like protecting your skin. 100%. Do you find them? I don't know. I thought it might have been Tanologist. I'm trying to look at the picture and think like, is that what's in my drawer? Tanologist? I don't know. Like you can get Alta. Mm-hmm. Target even has them, but I'm just saying, like one of them I found. I feel like that one looks the most familiar to me. I just drop it in my lotion, start working it up. Yeah. Slowly building, trying not to, I'm trying to fool everybody.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it's a good way to do it, and they're also being protective and using your sunscreen helps you to build a better tan. Everyone is under the impression that you're gonna be able to do it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you don't want to be going from zero to sixty, right? You peel. Like isn't that heartbreaking? I don't even know if this is true, not to be political, but I feel like there were rules about um teenagers tanning, or maybe there was like uh a law. I don't know. I probably shouldn't even be talking about it because I don't know. I just feel like I just saw a news story that they're like mm um dropping that H where you're like allowed to use tanning beds without like maybe they're making them more accessible to children, teens, or whatever. And it was like, are we just are we just are we all smoking again? Like I mean, we're not smoking. I'm saying like so many things feel like we're literally reliving the 90s in like the most negative way because I feel like listen, I'll be the first to tell you I was in tanning beds and stuff because I was a pale kid, but like I could not even conceive of like just dropping my kid off at a tanning bed right now and being like, work on your base tan.
SPEAKER_00Like I just be careful. I know. Are they gonna bring back the Playboys?
SPEAKER_01Just because like people were talking about that too, like on the post, and they're like, Oh, it's just so funny. But also, I'm not saying like don't do whatever you want, but the the um teenager younger kid thing is what like bothered me because I feel like why are we promoting that? Yeah, I mean um adults make all kinds of decisions, do your thing, but like uh I don't know if we want to encourage younger people to do that so early when they don't understand the ins and outs of like how to protect your skin and stuff. Yeah. All right, sidebar. Sidebar. Hopefully, I mean, I don't know, but maybe it's not even true. Maybe I just read something that was like rage bait or like get mad about this. Probably. Yeah, it's kind of that's kind of everything I read lately. But anyway, all right. I'm trying to think what else. Yeah, tanning drops in my lotion, but that's like a slow building process for me right now. Trying to glow up a little bit.
SPEAKER_00And speaking of lotion, another thing, another tip to glow up is lotioning after every shower, which I know can be difficult, right? We've talked about it. And I feel like I've implemented some things, which again I've probably talked about it on here, if so, sorry. Um is sh lotioning while you're in the shower, while you're still wet, okay. Everything in there. And I just feel like you can you see a difference in your skin and it's so good.
SPEAKER_01Especially the consistency is what's a big deal. Because like if you do one real good lotion, it does not matter. Right. It's gotta be like that, like hydrating. Yes, like drinking water. You don't get to drink a gallon and then like skip the next day. It's like consistent, consistent.
SPEAKER_00And if you have issues like me with like once I'm out of the shower, forget it, I'm on to like bigger and better things.
SPEAKER_01I feel like I'm always in a hurry too.
SPEAKER_00But it literally takes such a short amount of time. I have oils and I have lotions. I was gonna say, do you lotion at all though?
SPEAKER_01Because I feel like I'm I almost strictly do body oil.
SPEAKER_00It depends where I'm going. So like if during the week and I'm typically if I shower at night, I will oil because I don't care. I'm just getting into bed, my sheets, whatever. If I'm in the shower and then we're going out and I'm worried about the oil transferring, then I'll lotion. But I mean, right over wet skin.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's how I do my oil. And I feel like shout out to my mom because I feel like she used to do this, probably still does, but a million years ago. And then um I started doing it because remember I said I switched, I don't even use my washcloths for washclaws anymore. My washcloths have become my like hydrating oil. Yep. So I use the African like nut sponge, yeah. That's what I'm doing in the shower to get clean. And then all my washcloths became, I will like wet one in the shower, and then I put the body oil right on that. So before I'm dry, I'm just rubbing that all over my skin while it's still wet. So I'm kind of drying my skin at the same time that I'm like applying oil. Yeah. And I feel like it's a one-stop, I'm still in the shower, right?
SPEAKER_00This is a regular washcloth.
SPEAKER_01I'll just use like a washcloth and I'll wet it so it's not, it's not like dry, soaking in all the body oil. It's wet, and then I'll apply the body oil, and then I feel like it just like puts enough on my skin where it's gonna absorb and not be like greasy, and I'm like drying my skin at the same time. If that makes sense, so by the time I like towel dry, I'm not that wet anymore. Right. I'm like rubbing body oil on. That was very specific.
SPEAKER_00Well, and I feel like the oil locks the moisture.
SPEAKER_01So you're doing it while you're wet, like you haven't towel dried at all, and I feel like that works good for me because it's quicker. Yep. And I'm kind of accomplishing a couple of things at a like the same time. I'm putting moisture on, but I'm also taking some of the water off. I don't know. It works for me. Yeah. And all of my washcloths have been downgraded to they just like apply body oil now.
SPEAKER_00That's the only that's the only time that I lotion is in the shower. Only because or unless, you know, whatever. If I'm if I want to like put more on my legs or something, right? Especially after shaving and stuff. I feel like you always need extra. Yeah. And speaking of exfoliation, that was another thing on my list. And then I feel like we could probably this is gonna have to be a part two. I mean, it'll it'll be a series. Yeah, summer is just starting, so we can come back with a part two. Yeah, I feel like we have a lot of tips. I'm like looking going, we have a lot of tips. Um, the African net sponge has been a game changer for me. I feel like it has almost completely gotten rid of my Keratosis Polaris. Ah, it's the little like chicken skin. Which is so common. I hear so many people talk about it. Yes, it is huge. And I just read a fact because somebody, the girl that I bought it off of, she said, Hey, if you bought your African neck sponge from me, if you saw me last year and blah blah blah, it's time to get a new one. Oh. But she explained it's still fine, they last for that long. Okay, but just um the abrasion, like the string you're wearing it down kind of. Yeah, but she said, like, it's still fine, and I was like, Oh, okay, that's it. That's cool.
SPEAKER_01Like you're washing it, why would it be? But like you're losing some of that exfoliation, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but because you want to make sure that you find the ones with like each little thing will be tied, like you'll see like a knot in between if you're looking for them. But I feel like exfoliation everywhere on your body before your lotioning, on your face.
SPEAKER_01Now, what do you do? See, because I feel like this is somewhere where I would get like in trouble with like the new thought of exfoliation. Are you talking about like there's actually something more I'm gonna say gritty for lack of a better term? Something more abrasive, or is it just um chemical exfoliation where it's like the the chemicals you're using are supposed to exfoliate your face? What are we doing on our face?
SPEAKER_00So both. So if we're talking body, I'm just saying like a body scrub, like I have a coffee scrub.
SPEAKER_01I love that. It's like um strong smelling and it feels like it's like waking your skin up too. It's gritty. Yep, and it feels like a job, but I feel like face, everybody's like, what are we? You can't be doing that anymore. Like, you don't really want to be like scratching the surface. I love the feel of like an exfoliating scrub or something. So they laugh about that, like apricot stuff. Remember that? All the same arms. I'm like, I love that stuff.
SPEAKER_00I do have a favorite. Okay, so I'm not a doctor, but I do do we're not aestheticians, we're not doctors. We are not claiming to do any of this, but what I can claim is I spend a good amount of time, like several hours a week, probably, researching skincare. Okay. I really enjoy it. I love that I will benefit from your knowledge. Yes, but I really enjoy it. So, what I have found to be a common thread, and it's obviously dependent on what your skincare routine is. I do a retinoid three days a week, and then I use my other things. They are saying if you're doing that, you should be exfoliating your skin. You don't really need to do it more than once or twice a week. Okay. And that should be done with some type of an acidic toner. Okay.
SPEAKER_01So it's like chemical exfoliation.
SPEAKER_00Chemical exfoliation, and they said like the glucolic acid by the ordinary. Yeah, I can't put it out. That's perfect. So once a week doing that, and then I do have it's by Lancer, and it's almost like a microderm abrasion. Like it is like strong. Is it, is it uh it's a face scrub.
SPEAKER_01It's a scrub. Okay, it's not like a thing, it's not something you're washing your face with. Like, you know, my kid my kids have like those little, what were those little like brushes that were popular? Like this.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah. No, you're talking about like it's a it's a scrub. It's uh it's by Lancer, and it is uh, let's see, I'm gonna look it up right now.
SPEAKER_01Go ahead, because I'm looking up the toner I use right now, which I bought because it was called an exfoliating toner. Yeah. And I was like, I get it. I and I actually have exfoliating face pads. Um the the disposable ones. I love it. Daily, it's got a scratchy side and a smooth side. Yep. So when I put on my exfoliating toner, I'll use the scratchy side because I feel like I'm doing more. Yeah. But I still want, I don't feel like that's I don't know. I want more. Well, but you would probably destroy my dermal. Yes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's very important.
SPEAKER_01I'm doing all the wrong things. Listen, right after I talked about how I like my what do we call it? Microderm, derm oh, derma planing. Derma planing. I read so many things that was like, you're destroying your skin, right?
SPEAKER_00I was like, mm-hmm. I just shave my whole face in the shower. Like when you feel like your skin isn't skinning and your makeup isn't makeup. My skin isn't skinning.
SPEAKER_01I just shave my face, but that's why I feel like I want the exfoliator, especially in the summer. You're you're like sweating more, like you're, you know, whatever, when you're working out, you're hotter. You're walking outside, it feels like stuff is on your face. I just love the feel of like something like a little gritty.
SPEAKER_00Do you double cleanse?
SPEAKER_01When I'm washing my face.
SPEAKER_00Yes. No. So that's you should not be exfoliating more than once or twice a week. But you're I double cleanse my face every single day. Oh, okay. You d like I like to do with an oil cleanser. Twice? Twice. So I do an oil cleanser.
SPEAKER_01Quadrupling the cleanse. It's two in the morning to at night. No, no. Just like I don't, again, I don't feel like we should ever adopt this system.
SPEAKER_00Like, think about it. Okay, so you if you have your makeup on, you wash.
SPEAKER_01After I've washed my face, if I do my like exfoliating toner, which I feel is like another cleanse, but it's not. Right. The pad still is like, oh, there's there's makeup I missed, or there's, you know, whatever. So for sure I get the why.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So a double cleanse will get you there. And I usually go in with like an oil cleanser first, and then a different cleanser after, or if I have makeup on, I'll do like a cleansing balm to get the makeup off, and then I cleanse, but double cleanse always, and then once a week I'll do a um exfoliating toner, and then the other time I will do this, which is the Lancer, it's called the Method Polish. It's I get the one for normal combination skin. Okay. It is expensive, it is $80. It will last you a very long time. You only need a very small amount. And I mean, I'm telling you, it it it hurts. Like it's oh, interesting. It's strong. So it's it's gritty. It's gritty, and my other favorite is by Clarence, and then I want to hear about the one that you have.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm just telling you because I do at least feel like I moved to an exfoliating face toner, which is Marae. I don't know how you say that. M-A-R-E-E. I feel like we've talked about that a lot.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's the brand of my eye patches. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I have two toners by one. Them one is exfoliating, and then the other one's like a milky, soothing, whatever. Yeah, like hydrating toner. But I do this, it's just chemical. It's not the gritty, like scrubbing, and I want I almost want that too. Do you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00You could do both.
SPEAKER_01I think this is great. I think it's worth having, and I like it. Salicylic, lactic, glycolic, and mandelic. Like you just talked about. Acid.
SPEAKER_00That's a good one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this one had really good reviews, and I do like it, but I feel like I don't think that this alone makes me feel like I'm exfoliating.
SPEAKER_00No, I just even like in the in the shower, if you put your face one of your cleanses, you use a washcloth. It just doesn't have to be like a hard.
SPEAKER_01It feels like more of a manual exfoliation where there's something a little bit like scrubby, pretty. That's what I feel like I want.
SPEAKER_00Want to make sure that you put on some type of like a barrier cream.
SPEAKER_01It doesn't have to be the apricot scrub. People were cracking me up with their remember when we used to rub like little rocks on our face? If you read that, it is we've all had it ground up walnut shells or something, and I was like, whoa, that's a nut allergy mom's nightmare. And we were putting it. I mean, it's small bodies. Yeah, why not?
SPEAKER_00So one of my favorites that I use again, it's not um it's exfoliating and it's not cheap, wallet friendly, okay, but it is one of the best on the markets, and they've I've tried. It's undupable. Is the uh it's by Biologique. I'm not gonna be able to pronounce the last part, but it's a lotion P50. Okay. And you actually apply it, you can put it on a cotton round, or you can apply it like this, and that will same thing. It's an exfoliating toner.
SPEAKER_01Like a toner. Okay.
SPEAKER_00And again, it lasts a long time because I don't I'm only using it once or twice a week. But the other, you could use this if you're looking. It's by Clarence. It is the one-step gentle exfoliating cleanser. Okay, same thing.
SPEAKER_01Uh tell me a price point on that one because you're losing me with these $80. Sorry. $40. Okay, all right.
SPEAKER_00Let's cut it in half. Lasts a very long time as well. Delightful. Smells like oranges, delightful. How it feels after is nice, and then it's not as like um harsh on your face as the other one. But I mean, so you're doing you're doing the right.
SPEAKER_01I'm saying I try and I'm like, okay, this is better than not doing it, but like I also feel like I need something more, yeah. Another step or whatever, or an occasional uh exfoliator for my face, like I said, body covered, got like the scrubs, yeah, love that. Got the African net sponge. Notice a huge difference with that. Same thing, like bumpy arms, all the things. So, no, the face part I definitely feel like, especially for summer. I don't know. I just feel like you're out there in the world more and like things are on your face. Oh, they are bugs. When you go for walks, do you notice bugs? I was talking about like sand blowing around. One of my chapstick the other day. I was like, oh, get it off. Like it wouldn't get out. Oh, yeah. Yeah. See our previous episode for fish fly conversations. Yeah. Gross. Gross. Okay. I mean, for sure, part two. Yeah. We'll come back for another part of the thing. We're gonna want to keep these here, but I mean, because I feel like it's top of mind. It's summer's here and everybody's thinking about the same stuff. Yeah. Might as well talk about it.
SPEAKER_00We got more tips. We're not experts. There's so many things out there. So far from that. But we just love talking about this stuff.
SPEAKER_01So if you are an expert, chime in too. Let us know. Don't tell me more tips. I mean, tell us we're wrong in the DMs. On our public-facing stuff, please recommend good products or something.
SPEAKER_00For sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I would love that. We're all about showing experts. So, yeah, let's come back with another. We'll do part two. All right. See you guys next time for part two. Yep. Thanks for stopping by. Bye, everybody. See you later.
