Apparently, we weren't done... If you know us, you’re not surprised that one episode couldn’t contain our many strong opinions. In Part 2, we're doubling down on our most ridiculous, unnecessary, and passionately defended opinions. From everyday annoyances to wildly specific hot takes, these are the tiny hills we're fully prepared to stand on… even if absolutely no one asked.

SPEAKER_02

Hi Heather. Hi Gina. How are you? I'm good. How are you? I'm good. Good. I like your hair today. It's very beautiful. Thank you. If you see something, say something. I'm trying to implement it. Thank you so much. And I think it looks beautiful. So I needed to tell you about it.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you. I like your eyeshadow. Look at us. Seeing it and saying it.

SPEAKER_02

Doing better. A little bit.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

So, what do we got today? Today is part two. Because if you know anything about me and you, we could not just do one part of this. These are, we haven't quite named it yet. Harmless Hills will die on, or small hills, mole hills. Mole hills. We're not trying to stir up too much controversy. These are not huge opinions. They're small things. We very, very strong opinions out of them.

SPEAKER_00

Very strong opinions on our own little personal uh mole hills. And you can fight us about them, but like, you know, we won't fight you to the death. It's not it's not that deep. It's not that deep, bro. Yeah, it's not that deep.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, can I just start by saying, like, my my daughter, my oldest, who just got her cell phone and texts us now, which I actually think is adorable. It'll be like she'll be in a room and she'll just send a text downstairs instead of just talking to us. Everything, bro. Oh, yeah. And I have to keep saying, like, I'm not your bro, bro. I know. Stop it. No, she can't. They won't. She's I'm her bro now. That's what they do. I am choosing to take it as like a term of endearment. Yeah. Uh yeah. If she said it something like, I don't know, out in public or something, I think it would be different. But this is just just in the walls of our home.

SPEAKER_00

I have to do some bro. I have to do some correcting. And then when you correct, they're like, oh yeah. I'm like, but I mean, come on. You do know the English language. Can we use it appropriately?

SPEAKER_02

So hard over here to make you like acceptable for public life.

SPEAKER_00

Wild times.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. What is your sorry sidetrack? Just when we said it's not that deep bro. I'm like, I am bro.

SPEAKER_00

I am we are bros.

SPEAKER_02

Um, what is your first harmless hell that you're willing to die on?

SPEAKER_00

In continuation. Yes. I will die on the hill. That what do I want to throw out? Oh.

SPEAKER_02

Let some tension build. It should be a good one now. Oh can't be about like mustard or no.

SPEAKER_00

All zoos should have elephants.

SPEAKER_02

All zoos. Okay, I feel like this is a little bit like full circle because we did have a long elephant discussion where I felt like I didn't know you at all because like one of your bucket list items was just like visit an elephant at a zoo or something weird. I haven't seen it. Who are you? You don't even like animals.

SPEAKER_00

I don't, but I really love looking at elephants.

SPEAKER_02

I'm sure there's like some logistics there where it's tricky to have an elephant.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. And I'm sad about we used to have it at the Detroit Zoo, but we don't know enough to know that we don't. No, it's been many, many years. There were two, and then I think there were one, and then I feel like, and you know, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I think that that elephant got depressed because the other one wasn't there. Which of course I'm not like I mean zoos keep that sad elephant.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. I would want him there for whenever I just don't care.

SPEAKER_00

No, of course not. I don't animals are not my favorite thing, but I I have a heart for them. I would never want to see an animal harmed or anything like that. And zoos, in and of themselves for animal lovers, are a difficult thing because a lot of people feel like, well, they're in captivity and blah blah blah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh mixed feelings.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so I understand all of that, but like, man, if you're gonna have lions and tigers and giraffe giraffes, I can't even speak. I'm so excited about this.

SPEAKER_02

Just like, where's the elephant? Seriously, been waiting all day for that. Polar bears, bears, everybody. Sorry, where's the elephant? I guess I was unaware. I think an elephant feels like one of the animals where I would assume I'm gonna see one. But now that you're saying that, we went to I'm gonna get it wrong. Columbus, maybe it could have been Pittsburgh a while ago with my kids, and they were they had a baby elephant, and that was like everybody was like lined up at the exhibit, and I was kind of like a baby elephant. Yeah, I would stand in line for that too, but I don't know. I guess maybe I didn't realize too that just having elephants there was pretty special. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

Because like if we don't have them at the Detroit zoo, it's just like there's some of the animals, I don't mean to be like judgy. Like there's some of them that it's like, well, who cares? Like I want like, let me see something, you know what I mean? I want to see hippo.

SPEAKER_02

Like the whole like reptile sense, I could, I'm usually just there for the air conditioning.

SPEAKER_00

Look at the snake. There's a snake in my backyard. I came to see the elephants.

SPEAKER_02

I want to see something that is gonna blow my mind. Right. Yeah, we just went to DC last year and saw the pandas. See, that was a big deal too. Again, super long lines, and we kind of questioned, like, is this worth it? And I'm like, I don't think there's pandas anywhere, you cannot see them anywhere. It's very special, so we definitely waited. Yeah. I'm sorry that maybe the DeJoy Zoo got elephants back.

SPEAKER_00

It's disappointing. And like, if you go on a day where, like, you know, I don't know what the temperature would be that it would like work this way for all the animals. But if you go and you don't get to see the lions or the tigers, you always see the giraffes, but sometimes you don't see the polar bears or the gorillas. It's like, what am I doing here?

SPEAKER_02

There's no elephants. What am I doing here? What am I doing here? There's like random, uh, what are those birds? Why am I like blinking? Peacocks?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That just like walk around the food court. And you're like, what am I here for? These peacocks? They live amongst us. There's an eagle. There's an eagle that flies over my house. Yeah, it does feel like the more exotic animals. You are definitely there for them. Yes. Okay. That's my help. I'm gonna take us on a really hard detour from um elephants and say that actually, this is not that far of a detour. Let me tell you why. Marshall's and TJ Maxx home decor is off the rails, it's completely unhinged, and like to the point where there's people, I don't feel like I noticed years ago. Well, yeah, that goes without saying, but no, why does anybody need like a statue of a frog smoking a cigar? And those like reels that are like, excuse me, do you guys happen to carry like a snake, but it holds a wine glass next to a gnome? Oh yes. It's I feel like when I go there now, maybe because that's like top of mind, and that's oh, I see those rails. I feel like that's all I see. I know. I'm like, where's the normie stuff? Where's just like a black candle holder? Right. For me who can't, I can't like my house still looks like a new build.

SPEAKER_00

Give me a sailboat.

SPEAKER_02

What are all these weird?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Who's buying it? Somebody has to be stocked with it. Yeah. Me and my friend were laughing because there was also like these old timey, they weren't even plush, they were like dolls, but then the face was like really mean and scary looking. And I was like, what is the market for this? Are they making money off of this stuff?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, I agree. Because you would think like they would have to generate it for the masses, but like there's some people that might want that, but not all of us. It's a lot, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

If you've I it's so hit or miss, too. I saw somebody's thing that was like Marshall's is either the best day you've ever had or the most disappointing waste of like three hours, and that that hit me in my soul. I feel like lately it's been a lot of like, what is this? I haven't been there. Am I not cool? Like, do I not know what the trends are? Like, are people filling their houses with like weird frog statues?

SPEAKER_00

Maybe some like some people are trying to be artsy, like be different, see you guys scattered in.

SPEAKER_02

I guess. And it's not me. Sorry, my little thing's going off.

SPEAKER_00

I haven't been there in so long. Like over six months.

SPEAKER_02

Well, good for you. Yeah. I went recently and it was one of those three hours of disappointment trips. I'm sorry. It's just to me, I think it's an age thing. Yeah, where our brains are at. So overwhelming. Oh, yeah. It maybe if I just stepped into like a home goods and I was like, okay, this is about the home. But like I went to the full Marshalls, it's like everything from clothing to house goods to I was so overwhelmed, and it's so messy and cluttered, and there's just so much stuff everywhere. I was just like, I think my brain, I need to get out of here for like my mental health.

SPEAKER_00

You have to be in a mood. It's been a while since I've been in a mood to like go and explore and just see what Marshalls has for me to offer you.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Like at this point now, I have to like weird elephant statues.

SPEAKER_02

That's the answer.

SPEAKER_00

I have to go there with a plan. Like, I oh, you know what? I take that back. I did go recently, but it was because I was like, I need more candles. Okay. So I just went and got candles.

SPEAKER_02

It's where Marshalls shine. Yeah. You like three aisles of candles. But I don't know. There's some weird decor out there, and I just want to know what homes it's going to. I wish you could like follow a piece. Right.

SPEAKER_00

Like, I don't know though. I feel like there are some like I don't want to call out. There's some statues around here of like creatures that I'm like. Oh, alright. You want to put that outside for everyone to see? Is it a duck with like a dress? It's a front thing. Goose.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, people people have those like porch geese and then they dress them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we have a porch goose. Okay. It's not my thing.

SPEAKER_02

It's a thing. And I watch Marshall's is great for porch geese attire, too. Probably. Alright. Alright. Well, I just I think they've gone too far. I'll jump on that hill. It's too much. There's too many weird animal pieces. I can't.

SPEAKER_00

I will agree.

SPEAKER_02

Alright. Alright, what's your next one?

SPEAKER_00

Well, next hill, I would like to say the turkey is not the main show on Thanksgiving. The sides are, and we need to normalize fried chicken instead.

SPEAKER_02

I'm easy sell. Sold. Convinced. I'm glad I came to your TED talk about the turkey.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you. Like, we make such a big deal about the turkey. I don't even like the turkey. I just want to eat the sides. And like, why can't we have fried chicken? Even though if like if I brought fried chicken in, my family would be like, whoa.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like the fried chicken has to be a side piece to the turkey. You can't replace it. Right? Right? You're trying to replace it? Yes. Yeah, for you, for me, that would be fine. I feel like there's like a generational thing where you can't replace the turkey, but maybe you could just sneak in some fried chicken.

SPEAKER_00

But don't you feel like if you asked enough people, like now, my mom, in defense, makes a mean turkey. It's very moist. Sorry. It's very juicy. Uh so it's not like we're eating bad turkey. It's just like I don't care.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like turkey's already just like chicken's sadder cousin. I know. Do you eating turkey regularly? Ground turkey.

SPEAKER_00

Can I be included?

SPEAKER_02

Come on, guys, we'll give you Thanksgiving a day. I guess like turkey lunch meat.

SPEAKER_00

I don't even need turkey lunch meat.

SPEAKER_02

I don't ever cook like turkey unless it's ground turkey or turkey lunch meat. I don't even know. I feel like turkey's just never the star of the show. And he's not dependable. You're not there all week cooking turkeys. Chicken is chicken is the way to go.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Like, no offense to the city. If it turns special, get the turkey out once a year. I just feel like dress him up.

SPEAKER_02

Put little uh things on his feet. I feel like the stuff that you always see in the movies, I'm like, our family never did that. I know. It's like little uh paper things.

SPEAKER_00

Like little like booties.

unknown

Like, what is that?

SPEAKER_00

That actually grosses me.

SPEAKER_02

Did it crawl in here?

SPEAKER_00

Why does it have booties on? Like, yeah, no.

SPEAKER_02

Why are we dressing up this turkey before we caught him?

SPEAKER_00

There's just so much like around the turkey, and I gotta get up, but I gotta make sure everybody's got the turkey. How many pounds? And I'm just like, no pounds, zero pounds. We don't need a turkey.

SPEAKER_02

All right, here's what you should do. Next Thanksgiving, whoever's hosting, I'm hoping it's not you. You just sneak in the chicken. I'm sure. And you're just like, uh, you know, I feel like some people might want this with their turkey. And then the turkey's barely gonna get eaten because everybody will go for the chicken. Right. And then eventually you just like wean yourself off it. Next year.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, maybe I'll do that.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, it would just be an interesting experiment. Because you know, like your family is gonna be like chicken.

SPEAKER_00

They would all eat the fried chicken. Your immediate family.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I would too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, 100%.

SPEAKER_02

I don't feel like that's that controversial. Right. Let's just do it. Let's get some more. Let's change culture right now. Yeah. Okay, my next one. Oh, food related, also. Who would have thought we would have food related? You cannot make a charcuterie board out of everything. Stop with the boards. So, have you ever seen these like cute little reels? Like the board parties? Board party. I love the idea of that, but like you have to start from a place, like a practical place. Yeah, charcuterie works because like meats and cheeses and crackers and bread, all good at room time. Like that's the kind of stuff you snack on for hours. Nobody's too worried about it. Like, people come in with like a Big Mac board.

SPEAKER_00

I did do one of those.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not trying to judge. I think they're super fun for like three minutes where it's all hot. Or like a pancake board. And I'm like, I'm sorry, those pancakes are dry and hard as rocks in like 20 minutes. I just feel like think about what goes on a board and then do your fun variety. A tackle. Some things should not be made into like that means it's gotta go in the fridge. Charcuterie board. Okay. Like, be fun with it. Like dessert. Uh, I'm trying to think of one. One where you do like uh, what is the dippy? Like a fondue or whatever. Okay, keep your chocolate warm, the rest of the stuff can be on a board. Like sometimes people make a board out of something, and I'm like, that looks like a mess. Right. First person who you know me too. First person who touches that board, everything's gonna be like gross and mixed up and know what I'm bringing in.

SPEAKER_00

Next time you do something, I'm bringing a board.

SPEAKER_02

You should stop yourself and ask yourself, should I do this? Right. Not can it be done, should it be done? And the answer should be no.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, but like I'm not here to yuck anybody's yums. Right. Bring Big Max on a board. If that's what makes you happy, it's your friend's house and your pajamas.

SPEAKER_00

That's what Ava went to a board night. I think it's so cute. I love the idea. I did like piles of like cheeseburgers, piles of fries, and then like little like sauces, piles of nuggets. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I just want all those cheeseburgs individually wrapped in foil. Right. Like keep them nice and warm. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

They were in the paper.

SPEAKER_02

It's cute though. And kids probably were like, whatever. Yes.

SPEAKER_00

No, the kids didn't care. But yeah, for an adult party.

SPEAKER_02

I just feel like there's some things that it works well with and some things that it doesn't. It should start from that that point.

SPEAKER_00

Is fondue still a thing?

unknown

Uh.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. We used to love it. They have like multiple fondue pots. I haven't done that for a long time.

SPEAKER_00

Me neither. Remember, we have a lot of things.

SPEAKER_02

I think there's still fondue restaurants you can go.

SPEAKER_00

Is the melting pot still exist?

SPEAKER_02

The melting pot is still in Troy. Wow. Southeastern Mission reference. Yeah. I think they're a chain, though. They might be all over. I still love the idea. Brian hates fondue. I know. When we had the fondue party, it's so irritated. I hope he really doesn't hate me. But the whole point of fondue, and it was during a we did a murder mystery thing. Do you remember? So we were all, wow, who were we? I forgot. First of all. Could you imagine how I was trying to organize it now? All our friends would be like, I don't feel like it. Do not invite me. Don't come. We'll not come. So we were all dressed up, we all had characters, and then because it was like a 70s theme, we did fondue.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And your brother just like dumped, you know, you're supposed to like put something on your skewer and like cook it in the oil or the I think we did broth. Your brother was like, he just dumped all the meat into the thing. He's like, I can't wait. My family's too impatient for 30 seconds. And then he probably went to Taco Bell immediately after, which is fair.

SPEAKER_00

This is my life. That's my husband too. Like he Ryan hates fondue.

SPEAKER_02

I'm trying to think if we've ever done it with our kids, even. I think we've done dessert fondue with them. Because I do I have multiple pots at my house.

SPEAKER_00

It's fun. I feel like Gianni would like it. Ava's probably more like her dad. She'd be like, what? I don't know if you're not sure. Chris would still love it. I'm not gonna lie.

SPEAKER_02

Because I do enjoy, it's kind of like the charcuterie thing. I like like that style of eating like tappas, like a little bit of this and a little bit of that. So you get like this kind of meat and then do this veg with it and this sauce. But it's definitely like a date night or a long strolling dinner. It's not like I'm hungry and this is stupid.

SPEAKER_00

He just get he's so not a foodie either. Like he's just like, just give me a dish of pasta. I don't want to have to cook like a piece of meat at a time.

SPEAKER_02

That's understandable. It's like a social. Like we were just talking about, it's very popular too around here because I feel like they just opened a few, but like Korean hot pot.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So like I love that. My nail technology. Chris loves that idea. He's like, let's go do that. He wanted to do it on a date night. But I was like, I don't want to like, I know you tried really hard and you wanted to do this, but like that sounds like I have to cook my own food.

SPEAKER_00

That's what I mean.

SPEAKER_02

So I do get in a mood where I'm like, I don't want to prepare my own feast. Let's just go and somebody puts the play to pasta in front of me. Yeah. You've got to be in the mood for it for sure. I haven't done that. Okay, sorry. What's your next hill? Mine, mine is not everything can sharecutery.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I oh this one might be a little this one might riffle a couple feathers, but in my personal opinion, this is a hill that I will die on. Tennis shoes don't go with dresses. Yeah, I hear you. You know what I mean? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And I mean Is it still is it still a trend? It's still.

SPEAKER_00

It doesn't seem like it's as much.

SPEAKER_02

It definitely had a moment where it was like all you saw. Um everything.

SPEAKER_00

And even with like the I feel like it was more of a younger trend where it would be like dressier dresses, like a really nice dress from a Ritzia. And they would wear like Converse with them or whatever. That I think is faded. I don't see that as much anymore. I still will see some like casual, like more streamlined sneakers with like a longer dress and like a jean jacket, whatever. Like you do you boo-boo. But over here, yeah, I'll be wearing a sandal or a flip-flop.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I do feel like too, because I'm a teacher. I feel like that's a very popular teacher fit. Yeah. Right? Because you're like, I want to have like a cool sundress or something on, and then they'll do like a nice, comfortable tennis shoe or something. But yeah, I tend to always feel like if it's if it's a dress, I'm probably gonna have a sandal on or something.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely no judgment. And anyone who wants to, I will not look at you, you know, like oh, they don't have any fit. Like, whatever. That's your style, do it.

SPEAKER_02

When people do it the right way, it can be very cute. And you're like, oh, I get that. That makes a lot of sense. But you're cute, yeah. That's okay.

SPEAKER_00

And maybe it's because I have big feet, and I don't know. I just feel like it's like just looks clunky with a dress, especially.

SPEAKER_02

It definitely depends on the dress too. When people are doing it with like their prom dress, like I can get into like a sundress with cute, like white, like what are they, like kids kind of thing, and you're like, maybe a no-show sock or whatever, but like the full-on prom dress, what the again have fun, express yourself. We destroyed our eyebrows and did all kinds of crazy, stupid stuff. Or what else did we do? We wore like combat boots with jean shorts, yeah, or like tank tops with like a shirt underneath, uh, flannel tied around your waist for absolutely no reason. Butterfly clips. Butterfly clips. Those made a little comeback, too. Those are fun.

SPEAKER_00

So we've been there.

SPEAKER_02

You just you do you I'm just gonna stay hard for us old people. Yeah, I was gonna say a certain generation. Old millennials, what are we called? Elder millennials.

SPEAKER_00

Millennials, yeah. I'm just gonna stay on my little hill until you I don't like that.

SPEAKER_02

The older you get, the more you get to have all these dumb hills. Yeah, and people are just like pfft, whatever. And they're old, they don't get it. I love it. You can be so bold in your stances, and they don't even have to make sense. Which it's really doesn't even feel that bold, but I'm sure some people will be like, well, I wear shoes with you just keep coming out with your your firm opinions. The older you get, nobody questions. Yeah, I'm on that hill. Okay, my next one might ruffle some feathers too, and I feel like it's kind of a it's a bigger conversation and there's all kinds of things at work, but tipping is out of control. Yes, and I get so annoyed with it specifically when there has been no service done. Like you just uh get yourself the men like the case, yeah. Or I was gonna say, serve yourself your own yogurt. I'm trying not to like name call any.

SPEAKER_00

I'm sorry, it's okay. Sorry, men cheese.

SPEAKER_02

Something you're gonna go under. Um, but I just feel like there's literally been no service. Yeah, there's nothing that you actually even did for me, and then that's the one that's the most egregious to me. And I feel like there's a whole conversation here about like, can we just pay these people back? I was gonna say, pay for the people. Cut that out because they're not doing anything that would merit a service, like a tip. So if the tip is just supplementing their pay, let's figure that out and do it a different way. Because I do feel like then there are still like service jobs where you it makes sense to tip the person. I still could get into the whole like can we not just pay waiters and waitresses like a normal fee for their whatever salary, not fee. But I'm saying, uh, but you get the idea that they're like checking in on you, yeah. They're serving stuff and whatever, it's a different thing, but the the tips for everything, all the places. Literally, you do it on a machine and it'll still ask you for a tip. And I'm like, who am I tipping at the machine at this point? Like, I don't even know who helped me. I agree. Sorry, that sounds really old. I sound like a boomer. Tipping's out of control, but it is, it's very, it's very annoying to me. And I hate being made to feel bad. I know, I know. But I'm like, you should feel bad. You should have never asked me for money right now.

SPEAKER_00

I know. Or then, like, even like certain services like DoorDash, like, you know, of course you're tipping them. They are providing a service, but like with DoorDash, you're paying more for the food, you're paying the service fees, you're paying, you know, the tip and blah blah blah. And then when you're all done, it'll be like, Would you like to add an additional tip? And I'm like, Well, is this for the people that second guess them? Like, I gave them a nice tip. Like, what? Right. No, I don't.

SPEAKER_02

I guess at that point you're like, did they do something outstanding? It's like usually you're just happy if like made it to you. I guess if they want to come in and like hand feed me, seem like they fumbled through your bag or anything. That's like kudos. Well, job well done. Yeah, yeah. No, I just it's just completely out of control. And sometimes it because everything is tipping, I go through my life not knowing who I'm supposed to tip and when. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? So like somebody comes to clean your house, that's a tipping situation. Somebody does your hair, that's a tipping situation. So then, if like somebody comes and installs an appliance, is that a tipping situation? Do you know what I mean? I feel like there's like a line that I don't know anymore. And then you feel like somebody fixes your pool here. I'm like, does this is this a tipping situation? And I feel like my gut's like, no, I paid a pretty good amount for him to just like come to your house and put this thing in or do this thing. But I don't know because I feel

SPEAKER_00

I think a lot of people expect it to forever. Like even picking up catering and like tips.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah. I'm teaching your kids if you want to throw a little extra. Well, there is those like funny reels where they're like you like wash your dishes at your own house and you like hand the thing to your family, like tip. It feels a little out of control. It is.

SPEAKER_00

I will agree. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I'm glad we agree.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. I um will say that there is never a reason to buy unsalted butter.

unknown

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I know we've talked about I know. We seem to have some cyclic like uh cycling themes here. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But I'm staying on that hill. Okay. Never a reason.

SPEAKER_02

Agree.

SPEAKER_00

Just don't do it.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know who's keeping this the unsalted butter people in business.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know, people with like super high, would it be like uh oh yeah, maybe if I'm a low sodium diet. Maybe. That's it.

SPEAKER_02

But is there that much salt in it?

SPEAKER_00

I'd like them to have extra salted butter.

unknown

I don't.

SPEAKER_02

I add salt, I told you. I add salt to everything. Yeah. Baking cookies, boom, salt. But also, yeah, I don't get it either.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because Gianni the other day was doing something, and he was like, Hey, do you only buy salted butter? And I was like, Yes.

SPEAKER_02

In this house, son, let me tell you. And he was like, whoa. You brought this up. It's time for this talk.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's like, I'm only asking because the recipe's said, I'm like, well, the recipe is stupid. There's never a reason to buy unsalty. All the chefs who ever said, I don't understand it.

SPEAKER_02

I don't understand it. I've never made a recipe and been like, that is so salty. I bet you it was the butter. I know. Never, never in my life. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I'd like to know if anybody has tasted it and been like, because they're like, never start with salted butter.

SPEAKER_02

You end up at the end. Salt as you go. And I'm like, or I buy the salted butter, I don't do the little dash of salt that you just did there. Yeah. It's all gonna even out. Yeah. Alright, I'm glad you had that talk with him so he doesn't go down the wrong path. Oh, he knows how. I love that he also is like interested in cooking. Oh yeah, he is. I love that.

SPEAKER_00

Jeez, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. All right. How about um everybody needs to turn off red receipts? I don't know why anybody, with the exception of not knowing how that works. Yes. Yours is on for me. It is? Wow, make me a hypocrite on the podcast. Wait, is it for certain people?

SPEAKER_00

Uh yes, you can turn it on and off for certain people.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I didn't even know that. Okay, so now I have to take my own advice. Yeah. That was like a default setting.

SPEAKER_00

But like, I don't I mean, it's not like I care.

SPEAKER_02

It's not like I hold you. If I left you on read for a couple days, you'd be like, girl, what is your problem? What's wrong with wrong with you? Did you fall down a hole?

SPEAKER_00

I just figured you left yours on for me. No, you gotta go into the No, I just think it's wild.

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, who needs that much information about you? But I like that you feel that wrong with you is not making me the least bit uncomfortable. No, but like other people, no, I'm scared.

SPEAKER_00

You should go if there are some people that you're have to go through. Yeah. Because you can turn it on like all the way.

SPEAKER_02

I thought it was like a default.

SPEAKER_00

That's what I thought too.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Well, good thing we had this conversation.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Double check that.

SPEAKER_02

Also, I owe some apologies to people. Can I do a general apology? Sorry. If you don't know what red receipts is, it's like, you know, when you get a message from somebody, it tells you if it's delivered, and then it'll tell you if it's red. Are mine on for you? I don't think so. I'm like looking for my phone, it's not here. I don't think so. I think I would notice. Yeah. I'm gonna definitely, me and Chris are gonna have a whole technology night tonight where I'm like, I need a lot of help fixing this. It's just me.

SPEAKER_00

And you've never done anything where I'm like, oh, I saw that you're not.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I feel like also if I did, just call me out on it because we're past that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Like I saw you read that message.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but I'm only saying that because uh you're passionate about it, and I'm not gonna sit here and be like, oh no.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, you should have just let it go. I wouldn't do that to you. Like I just don't like it. I feel like I don't like it either. What is that necessarily? Who's that for? What is that what does that serve?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know, because a text is your time. Like when if I needed you right now, I would call you and then probably text and say, Hey, call me back. This is important. If I send you a text, at least this is how in my mind it is, yeah. I'm saying, hey, when you get a chance, read this.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, this can't be urgent. Answer me. I would have called or FaceTime. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

And then if it's like three days and I saw you read it, then I might be like, dude, you good? Like, but I think it's dangerous. So you might want to do that.

SPEAKER_02

I just think it's like a problem causer. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? And I guess maybe if you're sending highly sensitive or urgent information over text, that may be not the way to do it. Yeah. Because I just don't understand the upside of it. Me neither. And I should turn them off. Apple should just turn them off.

SPEAKER_01

What that's what I'm saying. Why are they offended? They've never been.

SPEAKER_02

Because people are like, but was my text read yet? Right. Or just delivered. And then it's like, who needs that much information about what's going on between you and your phone?

SPEAKER_00

I feel like they've given us all of this like capability, all this information, all this like it now, at any point, just in the comfort of your own home, you are able to see so much stuff. Now they're like punishing us, and it's becoming like, hey, guess what? You can see on Instagram, and you can see, and if somebody takes a picture, like it's like they're taken back.

SPEAKER_02

Like it's like I can see you were online five minutes ago. Like, why are you not responding to my text? It's just like a dark path. You don't need to go down it. Turn all that stuff off.

SPEAKER_01

Agree.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know if that stuff is optional on like Instagram and stuff. Like, can you can you opt out of like showing everybody? You know what else? I'm gonna ruffle feathers on this one too. This was just a top of mind one. In like Venmo?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You know, it's got like the social feed where you can see who's paying each other for what? Yeah, why? What is that for? Why do I care? Why do I care? Can you see what I'm saying? I don't know. Let's check on it when we're together later because now I'm concerned. Because I thought I turned my stuff off on that too. Because I'm just like, who cares? Because I paid my babysitter or whatever. Like, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

And I never write what it's for. I'll always put because my nail tech told me because I tip her with um Venmo. Yeah. She was saying that if you put in what it's for, like she'll get taxed on the tip, or like it's like it works to like it does feel very big brothery too to me.

SPEAKER_02

Like, who's monitoring this information? Yeah. And is there a reason why I would not want this information?

SPEAKER_00

I always just put like a pizza, or like if it's mica, I'll put like poop. Like it's never or not a pizza, a heart. Like I'll never put what it's for. Yeah. Like it's always just like a heart.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, or like you know me. Yeah. No, okay, that's a side thing, but um glad that you brought that to my attention because I don't like anybody to know if I've read your text or not.

SPEAKER_00

Again, just me.

SPEAKER_02

I'd impress if like my phone started blowing up right now, and everybody's like, it's on for me. It's on for me. It's on for me.

SPEAKER_00

You should check if there's slap. Certain people that you specifically don't want that on for.

SPEAKER_02

I just don't like the idea of like. Also, me and you have had this conversation a million times, but like just because you texted me, yeah, does not mean that I have to respond to you immediately. Like, I'll get to that.

SPEAKER_00

I texted you at midnight last night. Right.

SPEAKER_02

I was like, I'm supposed to.m this morning, no big deal.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't see, I didn't pay attention to the text. She read this at midnight.

SPEAKER_02

No, I'm saying, like, it's just nothing's on fire. Yeah, no. You can get to that when you fix it. You could also just be like, I put my phone down for a few hours, and I don't owe you anything more than that.

SPEAKER_00

To me, is a text is like an email. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or a letter, a snail map. Because we're like, that's my primary mode of conversation with everybody.

SPEAKER_00

Same. To the point where now if somebody calls me, I'm like why didn't you just text me? Like, you know.

SPEAKER_02

You call me, it's like, okay, she's either driving. Yeah. Like, I feel like, uh-oh, something wrong. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's how I think. I got tea.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

This one can't be digitized.

SPEAKER_02

It should not be out there. Okay, sorry. That was mine. Also self-corrected. Now I gotta go fix some things. Okay. We had this chit chat.

SPEAKER_00

I will go with um, who that one's controversial. Maybe I'll say that one for a minute.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I will go with foreshadowing. Kurt Cobain did not kill himself.

SPEAKER_02

Oh. Okay, is this a conspiracy theory thing? Yeah. I mean, is that a widely accepted alternate? Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, a lot of people believe that, and it is a hill that I you will never get, man. Courtney Courtney Love. What the theory is? Courtney Love killed them.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay, okay.

SPEAKER_00

100%.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Oh, this is like John Bonet. You have solved.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, solved, done, stamped. They burned the house down before they could even like thoroughly investigate. That's why I want to know. Or not the house, the garage.

SPEAKER_02

Not to get into the uh any of it, but that's why I had to know your opinion off air about like Charlie Kirk and all the stuff that's coming up. And like JFK, all the things. Charlie Kirk. Charlie Kirk, like the conspiracy there.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Because I feel like, yeah, for sure, she'll know some things. Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but this is like uh there there have been so many things that have come out there again, and I think I may have mentioned it on another podcast. And if I did, sorry if I didn't, whatever. I'm crazy. But there was a documentary, and I don't know if it's even still around anymore, and it was so good. It was called Soaked in Bleach, I believe. And it was about Kurt Cobain. And the investig investigators were re like almost like reopening the case and speaking about all the things that were done wrong originally and bringing point like even like where the gun was found and the type of gun. They were like, it would be physically impossible.

SPEAKER_02

Right, it's just too many like red flags, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And like he was locked in the room from the outside. So, like, how how would he do that? Yeah, right. There was just so many things that I'm like, how is it even like that? I wonder if that's available still. I think.

SPEAKER_02

I do love a good like conspiracy theory, but then I also I have to like put up a wall because I I feel like I can get really far down the rabbit hole where I feel like everything's conspiracy. I know. Do you know what I mean? I feel like I don't even know what's real. I can get there pretty much. I was gonna say it's pretty easy for me because I'm already pretty cynical about stuff to be like, yeah, of course, we don't live in a fair world. Like nothing, nothing's real. That was a hard one, heavy. Sorry, but we're I mean, hopefully. But I'll die on that hill. All right. Well, you obviously sound like you did some research about it. Yeah. So I'll let you have that.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, how about let's see, this is a light one. All grocery stores, like my personal target, I don't know about all of them, and my personal kroger should have a little cafe at the beginning. So mine have Starbucks. Oh, I was gonna say you. And I'm kind of out of this phase of my life, but nothing was more exciting to me when I had like younger kids or I had a little bit of time free to go grocery shopping, like by myself without the kids, yeah. To stop, get a hot coffee, and mosey the aisles with a hot, delicious beverage. And I'm like, why is that not a moneymaker for every grocery store? Are people rushing through the grocery store? Oh, yours have them.

SPEAKER_00

But you're saying they should everyone should.

SPEAKER_02

Why on earth is that not a thing?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that is an it is a very nice thing, and they're always busy. Yeah. Anytime you see them. They gotta be making money. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Just off of us like tired moms.

SPEAKER_00

I wish everybody that worked there didn't act like you were bothering them when you order a drink, but that's another story for another.

SPEAKER_02

Sometimes they're not necessarily um staffed in the same way that an outside cafe would be, but I do feel like my also he'll all die on, they should also be in the movie theaters.

SPEAKER_00

What are we doing? In Casco. Does Casco have coffee now? No.

SPEAKER_02

Uh they have like an iced like a machine traffic. Yeah, it's like a milkshake. Yeah. But what are we doing?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, agree. My mom's been saying that for a long time.

SPEAKER_02

Every time we go to the movie theater, yeah. Because I'm I sometimes like I don't care about popcorn or Slurpee or whatever, and now I feel like they have like a whole line of food. I don't care about that either. I don't want like movie theater pizza. Yeah. Sometimes when it's cold and you just like put your feet up and you want like a hot latte. I agree. I don't know. What are we doing, folks? Yeah. Maybe that's a I mean, just put a Starbucks there. Yeah, no, I could. Grocery stores, movie theaters, and our Costco Sam's would be great too, but like I'll I'll let them out of this. They should all have a little cafe at the beginning.

SPEAKER_00

Do you get the weird thing of like, okay, I am like, uh I just like your hand gestures there. I am an avid Sam's Club shopper. Every week, I mean, there are weeks where I go to Sam's and not Costco. I am a member at both. We've talked ad nauseum about the fact that I enjoy that I can self-check out at Sam's.

SPEAKER_02

We should do a whole episode on Sam's vs. Costco because I feel like there's a lot to discuss there.

SPEAKER_00

We definitely could. So, in no way am I like frowning on Sam's. Yeah. But in this could just be me. I have like a little mental tick, like in my mind, even though most times I do prefer Sam's over Costco just logistically. Okay. Costco's better. So like I will drink Kirkland water bottles. I have a hard time drinking members work.

SPEAKER_02

No, I feel like they've earned that reputation. Like, I will drink when Kirkland coffee is roasted by Starbucks or something. So you're like, no, they're in with all the.

SPEAKER_00

So when you said that, I was like, I would drink a coffee at Costco. Oh my god, drinking.

SPEAKER_02

I don't want just like a cafe. Yeah. I want like a proven cafe. And I'm not even a Starbucks.

SPEAKER_00

Put a Kirkland cafe in Sam's.

SPEAKER_02

Can you do that? Can you do that aloud? I don't want like a no-name cafe run by Sam's Club. Or really Kirkland. I want like something that you know you're gonna get a great. And I'm not even partial to Starbucks. I feel like there's all these others uh uh gosh, where were we just seven, brew? We were like, I'm like, why do we not have any here? Where now?

SPEAKER_00

Uh I'll have to ask Eva, Clinton Township. She just went the other day.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, did they put like a newer one in? Oh, okay, great. I was just talking about that with somebody because I was like, the line was like wrapped around the building. Yeah, we have one.

SPEAKER_00

Why do we not have one? We have a lot of cute cafes like Rochester.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, there should be one for shoppers who are gonna be in that store for an hour plus.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we would love a hot beverage. I do have a hard time at a cafe when it's not Starbucks, though. Like I feel like the syrups are different. I don't like Tarot.

SPEAKER_02

Well, because there is just something about knowing what you're getting.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And it might be like there are a lot of those like little private whatever. It's like we're family run. Yeah, and it's like good stuff, but you're just kind of like, what am I getting? I don't know what this is gonna taste. Yes. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You're used to Starbucks.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's kind of the like whole McDonald's mentality where it's like you could try a new restaurant or something, where you're like, but if I go there, I know what I'm gonna get. Yeah, you know, and there's something comforting about it.

SPEAKER_00

No, that's a good one. I agree with that.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, our moms are out here just begging for it, please. Right? Put a cafe. We don't ask for much. We ask for a lot, actually, on this podcast. We have a lot of demands.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, my next one might really offend the potato community.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, the what community?

SPEAKER_00

Sorry, the potato?

SPEAKER_02

Potato, I don't even know if that's a thing. Is there a community?

SPEAKER_00

You're not on potato TikTok? No, I don't think so.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, short of Courtney Cook, like shoving everything into a sweet potato.

SPEAKER_00

Sorry to my potato people.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't know there was a community today.

SPEAKER_00

There is. And I would like to say that I feel that at any breakfast spot, cubed, like home style potatoes are superior to shredded potatoes. Like shredded hash browns. Agree. Like, I don't, I mean, I will eat them because I will never pass, I will never say no to a potato. It's unfair. No one should have to.

SPEAKER_02

I will also say there's it's pretty hard to ruin a breakfast potato unless your hash browns are like slimy and undercooked. Like a good hash brown is still acceptable.

SPEAKER_00

I'll still gratefully eat them. Sure. I would always prefer an option. Yes, and you know who used to have, and I'll never forgive them for this. The original pancake house. The original pancake house, unless they've switched because I haven't been back since it's been a long time since I've been there. If they've corrected their errors, they used to have the best breakfast potatoes. The cube me and my brother replicated them at home. I now make them because we were like, we have to make these. They had like paprika in them, and they were so good. They got enough complaints that they switched to shredded, and I was like, hey, get go to Denny's if you want shredded potatoes.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so I thought that they were the one of the ones that gave you an option, so I wonder if they did both for a while or something. Maybe not.

SPEAKER_00

When I was there, so maybe they do that now, or maybe they've realized the error in their ways and they've gone back, but cubed potatoes overshred always. I agree.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I agree. But I'm gonna throw a monkey wrench in there. Sometimes I feel like shredded potatoes are more like a junky, like a Waffle House breakfast. Yeah. And there's like a time and a place where you want that, and then a cubed potato is like more respectable. And maybe you're having like a nice, healthy avocado toast situation. Yeah. I don't know. For me, hash browns go with like an omelet. Yeah, I mean, again, like pancakes, I'll eat it. I mean, I like all the potatoes.

SPEAKER_00

And I will go to Waffle House, like it's not like I'm a snob in that way.

SPEAKER_02

And I just feel like that, like I don't even know what I'm talking about because they might serve cube potatoes in the Waffle House. No, they have shredded.

SPEAKER_00

Because you can add cheese to them.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, don't they do like you can do them like smothered covered and all the things?

SPEAKER_00

I do like getting a side of sausage gravy with my hash. Okay. Like corned beef hash and eggs with a side of sausage gravy. Like I love indulgent.

SPEAKER_02

It feels more indulgent. Yes. Is that what I'm trying to say? Because I feel like I don't know, they don't even look like a potato anymore.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You're just like shred these hat shred these french fries and make it part of my breakfast.

SPEAKER_00

Again, I will eat them. I just think I would always like if you're gonna give me a choice, I'm always picking the that's fair.

SPEAKER_02

I'll take it. Yep. All right, my next one's a little less lighthearted. I think it's coming directly from where I'm at in my life, and that it's summer vacation. But I will die on this hill. Kids need to be bored sometimes, and it's good for them. Yep. Let that go. Yep, yep. The more boredom, the better. Couldn't care less. Yeah. Not a cruise director for real life. Yeah. Go use your imagination. Use one of the 700 toys you've been like fortunate to receive over your time. Go ride a bike. Get out of my face. Agree. You're allowed to be bored. Agree. So sorry.

SPEAKER_00

My kids are like, every time we tell you we're bored, you'd give us something to do. I'm like, well, what do you want? I'm always like, go clean your bathroom. You're so bored.

SPEAKER_02

No, but I feel like there's science. I won't get nerdy. But like they need to be bored. It's just good for their brain. Like we need to be bored sometimes. You don't have to be constantly consuming something, but like I'm really strong on this too. And I feel like my kids see that other parents aren't, and they're like, you're the worst. And I'm like, I might be. Yeah. I'm so sorry. I think that this might serve you later in your life. Go out of my face and figure out your life. I agree. And if you need a ride somewhere occasionally, I'm here for you, girl. Yeah, go look at the grass. Will I be setting up some kind of bracelet bar on my table for you and your 10 best friends? No. I don't think so. Yeah. You could do it. You're pretty capable now. You're not three, but also not a big problem. I 100% agree.

SPEAKER_00

I'm glad. Yep. And summer, man.

SPEAKER_02

It's because some parents release yourself. Yeah, don't feel bad. You should be bored. Sometimes it's when the funnest, most like creative, stupid moments will happen. They'll come up with some dumb game. They'll videotape themselves, making a talk show. Yeah. Make up a dance. We used to make up dances. Make a dance. Make a play. Show it to the family later.

SPEAKER_00

Make us sit down. We're gonna hate it. Those are the videos that we like love later. We're all dealing with it too, of all ages. I mean, Ava, not so much because she's working now.

SPEAKER_02

She's got a car.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but like, you know, there are times where Gianni, like at of all ages, on summer break, there comes a point where you're like, none of your friends can hang out, like, you know, and I'm just like, dude, I don't know. Figure it out, but do a puzzle. Like, can you imagine? Do we have any puzzles? We have a puzzle on this. I know. He's like, weird.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. All right, buddy.

SPEAKER_00

I agree.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. I'm glad we agree.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. I'm gonna I'm gonna throw out my uh this is the one we've been waiting for? This might be one of them, yeah. Um might get canceled. Might get canceled.

SPEAKER_02

It was a good run. I feel like we had like 43 episodes. Yeah, we didn't. We did all right.

SPEAKER_00

No, this will just make me probably look like, you know, whatever. I'm gonna go with it.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Uh imitation is not the finest form of flattery.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah. My mom used to say that to me, but except for I feel like she's the sincerest form of flattery.

SPEAKER_00

Or maybe it's sincerest.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Either way, it's not.

SPEAKER_02

It's not, let's stop saying that.

SPEAKER_00

It's annoying. Um, and I would like to explain. Okay. Imitation can be done in certain ways based on your relationship. And of course, there are trends, there are things that like we're all gonna look similar, we're all gonna decorate similar.

SPEAKER_01

Like Right, or like I saw this necklace, all the influencers are saying, This is a cute necklace, so you buy that necklace. Everyone's I wouldn't call it like imitation at that point, right.

SPEAKER_00

I'm talking about in a way where you can tell, like, no, somebody is like really like you're trying to be unique and doing things that maybe you don't see everywhere, and then somebody's doing it, and then they're not like because I also think imitation with a good amount of credit, like there's something different with, oh my gosh, I love that. Like, would you care where would I?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, would you mind if I bought it with a different color or something?

SPEAKER_00

We're girls, girls. That in no way is what I'm talking about. We're both secure enough in ourselves that that would not bother us. I just mean that saying as a whole across the board is incorrect because there are ways that people can do it where it can feel divisive or like, hey buddy, like come on.

SPEAKER_02

Have some artistic uh I'm trying to think too of the the way that you're saying that to somebody is almost like to dismiss their feelings of feeling like, dude, what the heck? Like, are they copying me? Yes. And you go, oh, don't worry about it. What they're really doing is complimenting. You're like, that's not how this feels. Like, don't tell me how to feel. It's like one of those, like, I don't know, you'd have to look back at why that's even a thing or who started saying that. But it does feel dismissive.

SPEAKER_00

It feels dismissive, just the saying as a whole, can it be flattering? Are there ways, like, again, of course, we're all girls, we all share. There are things that are in style, in no way, like, I would never be like, Well, I'm wearing a red top today, so if somebody wears it tomorrow, you're imitating me, and then isn't that since that's not what I'm talking about. We all know what I'm talking about, and there are ways that it happens where I'm like, but just saying that flat out, like, no, it's not, it's annoying.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I was actually looking up if I could find out like where. That whole thing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because when I wrote it down, I thought, is it oh, it is sincerest.

SPEAKER_02

Sincerest form of flattery. Yeah. Okay, so it comes from a quote of an English writer. I'm just gonna really quickly glaze over. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness. Ouch, that hurts a little bit more. Wait, I gotta Okay, so imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. That mediocrity, meaning like being just looking at average, can pay to greatness. Being better than average or shining in a way that's like so it's a little it's a little bit different hearing the whole thing. It's a little meaner.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but but I don't even mean it like that.

SPEAKER_02

No, I know, but I feel like that's one of those sayings too where I feel like you hear different things over the years and you're like, that's not even actually the saying. People just repeat things, but I do feel like um the way it's shortened is is dismissive in a way where it's like, well, don't worry about it. Like they're just trying to pay you a compliment.

SPEAKER_00

But like you're like, that's not yeah, that's not what that's not what this is, yeah. So again, hopefully I clarified myself that you know, in a way that I get it, I totally get it. I do feel like it.

SPEAKER_02

And my mom used to say that to me because I had a little cousin who I love so much now, she's like my best friend. But when I would go to her house, I would show her like a dress I was wearing for church or something, she would pick the same, like the closest thing out of her closet, which was so cute. And now it makes me like, what kind of idiot nine-year-old would be like, uh, wear a different dress. Right. But I was like, uh now I'm gonna match like a toddler or whatever. And my mom was like, It's she's just it's cute. And I was like, Right.

SPEAKER_00

Now it's I think it's the cutest thing in the world. And the like and those, she's she was correct. Like in those situations, like my sister, my best friend get over myself. There are situations where it is cute, or like you share things back and forth, and you're like, oh yeah, da-da-da-da. And you're like, Oh my gosh, yeah, I didn't hear about that. I'm gonna get that too. Like, right. I'm not talking about any of that. Yeah, I'm talking about there are people that do that like on purpose, and to just like say it, like, oh, it's a sincere as one of those. Yeah, no. It feels dismissive, it feels dismissive. So I got you on that one. I'd like to be on that hill.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I only have one more.

SPEAKER_00

Was that as bad as I thought it was?

SPEAKER_02

No, I don't feel like I don't think we ruffled too many feathers. For sure, come talk to us if we did. Yeah. For sure in the past, when we have ruffled feathers, you have come and talked to us, some of you, and be kind, but like we're up for a conversation. We love that.

SPEAKER_00

We love that.

SPEAKER_02

These are just our opinions, we represent nobody but our poor little selves. So my last one is full circle back to Costco. And I think we should actually, we should just like maybe we should buy some products. We should do a whole Costco versus Sam's thing. We should. Because I feel like they consume a lot of my mental space. So Costco and Sam's, and I follow those accounts where they're like new with Sam's this week, and I'm like, do I have to get there before everybody buys it?

SPEAKER_00

Because I will to redeem myself. Sam's does have some products that are better than Costco's.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they have their own strengths and weaknesses, which we're like, like you said, we're privileged to carry both memberships. And I feel like uh if I only had one or the other by my house, it would actually be a little bit of a like, ah, which one would I want, you know? Um, but this is my hard stance. Costco has to invest some money and catch up with Sam's on their whole like customer experience.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, why did I think you were saying ketchup? I'm like, no, their ketchup is fine.

SPEAKER_02

I love their ketchup. Heinz simply every time.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_02

But their inability to like search the website good for anything, prices included. Because sometimes I'm like, oh, I feel like I saw that at Sam's. Somebody had it on sale. What does it cost at Costco this week? Can't do it. Yeah. Then Sam's has the whole you can scan yourself. You walk around with your phone, you scan your products, you walk out, you don't even have to talk to a human being if you want. I love it too. Sometimes I do it, sometimes I don't, but the option is there.

SPEAKER_00

Always do it. When do you ever use the register?

SPEAKER_02

Um, I don't know. Sometimes I feel like if I have a lot of stuff, or I don't want to get into the mental space of like, did I scan that? Did I scan that? You know what I mean? And then I just do it all at the end. Like when I'm more like perusing, I'm not on a mission. Uh, they have plenty of self-checkouts. There's like never a line. I know. Now, this is top of mind because I just went to Costco with one of my kids in the middle of the day during the week. And that was a different experience just because I had a kid with me and again, teenager, not like running around, but uh it was like just get the things we need. This is clearly a busy time. She was like, Can we get something at the cafe after? I was like, Yeah, yeah, just like let's get through this.

SPEAKER_00

You see, they get the tenders now?

SPEAKER_02

I didn't I saw them on social media. Yeah, I didn't like notice that they were at the cafe, but the lines are so backed up that the first aisle, two maybe three aisles back, you can't cross. Yes, and she was like, bro, what is up with this? And I'm like, This is Costco all the time. I don't know what to tell you. This isn't a holiday weekend, it's just Costco. It's also our Costco. I told her that too. I was like, I think it's because this one's shopped so badly. But like, they know the sit. Yeah. They, the lovely employees of Costco there, see it every single day. And like, I know they have money. Let's invest. I know, I agree. In the technology to make everybody's life better and get people out of the aisles where you have to be shopping. Yes.

SPEAKER_00

You know what you gotta do.

SPEAKER_02

You have to do better.

SPEAKER_00

When the lines are long like that, even if the self-checkout lines are long, go there. Because there's that guy there. I love him, he's my favorite. Oh, right. He yells at everybody.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_00

I'll show you.

SPEAKER_02

And like I get anxious though.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, but I love it. I'm like, yell at me. I don't care. He's like, next, have your cars ready. I'm like, yes, yes, yes. Oh, okay. I love him.

SPEAKER_02

I I know a girl like that. I don't know the guy version. But I get anxious because I feel like not everybody knows the rules, and they'll be trying to do a one-line, and I'm like, no, no, no, no, this is a two-line, and like you don't get to go to the first open one. You stay with your line, and people don't know that, and they're trying to crisscross, and I'm like, you can't be the police here, but part of me just wants to like throw a vest on. I will do this, I will do this better. Yes.

SPEAKER_00

If I could create a job for myself, it would be rule enforcer at some of these places where I'd be like, You're go, you're walking the wrong way down the aisle.

SPEAKER_02

I've only been here three times. I know everything there is to know. But I was saying to her, I'm like, I've never designed a grocery store in my life. I feel like hire me, and I will come in and help you with this.

SPEAKER_00

Hire us.

SPEAKER_02

This situation where you have so many people backed up in line that you can't adequately shop your store isn't like this is not sustainable. Agreed.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I got really fired up about that one. My same thing, probably. I have my Apple watch. Well, I'd like to. I love you. Do better. I just want I want better for you. I agree. We want better. Or put another one in Metro Detroit.

SPEAKER_00

I'm jumping on your hill.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Okay, I'll just room for two up here.

SPEAKER_00

I'll end with two lighter ones. Okay. Fun. One jarlic should be illegal.

SPEAKER_02

I hate jarlic. I'm sorry. I don't want to be, I don't want to be mean. Illegal. It's the worst. Sorry. We don't have to do that. I love when people call it jarlic, too.

SPEAKER_00

Illegal. Okay. And for those of you that don't know, jarlic is garlic, minced garlic in a jar. Soaking in some kind of water. Some weird, it changes the flavor. It's not the same. Illegal. And then my last one. Straight to jail. Straight to jail. Do not pass go. Illegal. Most fruit, most, almost all fruit. Oh. Besides a banana. Okay. Should be as hard as an apple. Do not approach me with a mushy peach. Even grapes. Grapes crunch like an apple. Peaches, crunch like an apple. Nectarines, apple. Strawberry, apple. Everything. Watermelon. Kiwis, apple. Yes, watermelon. I want it to be crunchy.

SPEAKER_02

Are you willing to sacrifice the texture for sweetness? Because I do not want an unripe watermelon that's crunchy.

SPEAKER_00

I'm okay with most of my fruit being even on the tart side.

SPEAKER_02

More about texture for you in that.

SPEAKER_00

Gotta be crunchy.

SPEAKER_02

I will say I cannot stand a mushy anything. So like a peach that's overripe, a watermelon that's overripe, straight to the garbage.

SPEAKER_00

But like everything. Cantaloupe, honeydew. I'm trying to think of a fruit besides a banana. Water like pineapple, everything should be crunchy.

SPEAKER_02

I love a good popping grape. Like when you bite them and they're like, they got that like outer skin, it's just like, okay, but I feel like you lost me on like a peach or something. Crunchy. I feel like that should have a different texture. Okay, I'm sorry, I can't.

SPEAKER_00

Unless you're eating peach pie, but then it's been baked. Yeah. It can't.

SPEAKER_02

But I mean, like when you're biting into a peach, you feel like it should be that crispy.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it's gotta like f like like chip off. Like I love it.

SPEAKER_02

Unripe peach.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. I got it's gotta be crunchy like an apple.

SPEAKER_02

This is your hill. You're allowed to be up there.

SPEAKER_00

This is my hill. And don't come on my hill with mushy fruit. I won't be joining you. So I will throw it back in there.

SPEAKER_02

There's like a big range of what acceptable textures are for me. Plus it's a banana.

SPEAKER_00

And I will eat a semi-crunchy banana.

SPEAKER_02

I have family that will not touch a banana that's even like too yellow. Like a ripe banana is like offensive to them. It's got to be underripe.

SPEAKER_00

No, I'll eat a ripe banana.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, you're not. I will say bananas are like avocados where you have like 10 seconds where they're ideal.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, an avocado crunchy, but a tomato should be. If a tomato is.

SPEAKER_02

We're even finding a crunchy tomato. Crunchy tomato? Are you talking about the inside?

SPEAKER_00

No, the inside, if my tomato is even semi-mushy, it's in the garbage.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like maybe I send it back. I'm living a different fruit life than you have. Yeah. I don't even know if I've ever encountered tomatoes that are that crunchy.

SPEAKER_00

They I all my stuff has to be crunchy. The minute it's soft, and I like feel everything. Cucumbers. You're just a grocery section, like everything. Feeling everything. They probably hate me. Yeah, they do. Yeah. What are you gonna do? I'm not buying it. Like if a cucumber is even like semi-like.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, cucumbers is one of the things that's a little bit more. It's like a little give. I'm like, yeah, can't do it. I get really grossed out about a soft cucumber. I'm trying to think.

SPEAKER_00

Zucchini, everything's gotta be.

SPEAKER_02

But I just feel like a cucumber to me has the same texture as an apple. Like a little bit of a thin outer skin, but then the inside is like through, all the way through, the same texture minus the seeds. But like a peach for me, not to get too into the weeds. Or even a grape. Like that, I feel like the skin is kind of crispy. Yeah. And when you get in the middle, it's a little bit softer. Gotta be crunchy. Alright.

SPEAKER_00

Even a pear.

SPEAKER_02

I'm glad you're finding the fruit that meets your needs. Plum. Seems very specific.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, it's gotta be crunchy.

SPEAKER_02

Good thing for our multiple Italian markets around here. Could you imagine if you just lived in like some small I'd die? You you would just have to lower your standards.

SPEAKER_00

Cherries, everything's gonna be crunchy.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, that's fair. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So it makes you happy.

SPEAKER_02

You deserve to be happy. It's a crunchy fruit hill. Okay. Thank you. I mean, I'm glad that we ended on some lightness too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And it's a reminder that everybody's got their own stuff.

SPEAKER_00

Everyone's got their own thing.

SPEAKER_02

And you don't have to agree. Yeah. That's okay.

SPEAKER_00

And I won't yuck your yum publicly.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, could you imagine if I just came in here? Do you mind if I eat real quick? I've been running around. I got some like real sad, squishy fruit. I'd be like just gagging in your mouth. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Alright. Well, it was fun. That was happening.

SPEAKER_02

We always love uh stating our opinions. Yeah, hopefully we didn't. No matter how unimportant they are.

SPEAKER_00

Hopefully we didn't offend any of you.

SPEAKER_02

So also, if we did, that's okay. Come come talk to us on the socials about it. Come let us know. Like our videos. I saw some people reposted this week. That is so cool. Oh, yes. If you don't know, when you repost like a reel, my sister-in-law, who I love dearly, was explaining this to me because I'm not tax Ivy. Clearly, I have my read my red receipts on for you. If you repost somebody's reel, it doesn't go on your own personal thing. It's not like you post. No, no, no. It just like shares it, bumps it. It pushes it out. So thank you, those of you who have done that for us. That's a big deal. And if you haven't, just do it real quick.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, thank you so much.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you. We love it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So as usual. Yeah, we'll see you later.
