It requires knowing why those words were written, who they were written to, and how those truths continue to speak to us today.
That’s why this channel combines historical background, biblical context, and modern application to help Scripture come alive. By examining the culture, customs, and worldview of biblical times, we uncover deeper meaning and discover how God’s message remains relevant for every believer.
Episodes also connect Scripture to current events, daily struggles, real-life scenarios, and personal growth—because the Bible is not a book of ancient stories; it is the living Word of God that continues to instruct, correct, and guide us.
Whether you’re seeking encouragement, clarity, or a deeper understanding of God’s truth, Catch On Fire Podcasts provides teaching that is easy to follow, spiritually enriching, and grounded in sound Christian doctrine.

3 Steps To Answered Prayer - Matthew 15:21-28
Discover the powerful story of the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:21–28, a passage where Jesus praises her great faith and persistence. This teaching explores why Jesus seemed to reject her at first, and what her response reveals about humility and perseverance.
In this podcast you will learn:
• The meaning and context of Matthew 15:21–28
• Why Jesus tested the woman’s faith
• The significance of her bold, persistent request
• What her story teaches us about prayer, humility, and spiritual desperation
• How her faith can inspire our walk with God today.
A desperate mother. A silent Savior. A breakthrough that changed everything. We explore one of Scripture’s most surprising encounters—Matthew 15:21–28—and uncover a simple, potent framework for prayer that actually shapes outcomes and deepens discipleship. The Canaanite woman’s journey reveals how to ask clearly, persevere when heaven seems quiet, and hold a believing posture that honors God’s holiness and mercy.
We start by setting the scene: why Matthew’s Gospel emphasizes the kingdom, why Jesus travels into Gentile territory, and how cultural tensions amplify the risk this woman takes. Her approach to Jesus—naming him “Lord, Son of David”—is not small talk; it’s a confession of faith that aligns her request with God’s character. From there, we break down the three steps: making specific asks consistent with God’s will, persisting day by day when the answer tarries, and believing that even a crumb of grace from the Master’s table is enough to heal what seems unhealable.
The episode weaves biblical exegesis with lived stories: Gladys Aylward guiding 94 children through war-torn China, an iron axe head rising on the Jordan, a paralytic standing at Bethesda, and unexpected provision that arrives right on time. Each story lifts a different facet of faith under pressure—courage, clarity, endurance, and the audacity to keep knocking. We don’t offer formulas; we offer a way of praying that is relational, reverent, and resilient, grounded in who Jesus is and how he loves across borders, traditions, and timelines.
If you’re hungry for a prayer life that moves beyond vague hopes to God-centered petitions, this conversation will sharpen your focus and lift your confidence. Ask specifically. Keep asking. Believe God’s timing and power. Then tell us what you’re praying for next. Subscribe, share this episode with someone who needs hope today, and leave a review to help others find these messages of faith and courage.

Hi and welcome to Catch on Fire Podcasts. I am Dr. Novella Springett. I have been a follower of Jesus Christ since I was a child. Over the years, I've spent time studying the Bible and the history of the Christian religion. Catch on Fire Podcast will be conducting in-depth studies of scripture with the goal of encouraging us all to grow in Christian discipleship. This podcast is for all those who have an interest in knowing more about Jesus and what it means to live for Christ in today's pluralistic society. We pray that this podcast will positively impact all of our lives and enable us to become more like Jesus. Please like, follow, and subscribe to Catch on Fire podcast on the varying platforms that we are featured on. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, our God, react to your blessings on this podcast. We pray that your word will go forth with power, that lives will be changed. There'll be all of you and none of me. In your name. Amen. Today we'll be speaking on three steps to answered prayer. And it will be based on the scripture, Matthew 15, verses 21 to 28. And let's read the scripture. It says that leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him crying out, Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me. My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly. Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us. He answered, I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel. The woman came and knelt before him, Lord, help me, she said. He replied, It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to the dogs. Yes, it is, Lord, she said. Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the master's table. Then Jesus said to her, Woman, you have great faith. Your request is granted. And her daughter was healed at that moment. In this podcast, we will be looking at three steps that we can take to ensure that our prayers will be answered. We'll first look at the background of the Gospel of Matthew, as this will provide the foundation for understanding the scripture that we are studying in today's podcast. Next, we will then look at the three steps that cause this woman's prayers to be answered and will likewise lead to our prayers being answered. These three steps are as follows. Firstly, we have to make our acts known to God in a specific and detailed manner. Additionally, the request must be in keeping with the will and nature of God. John Wesley says God does not do anything on earth except in response to prayer. The Apostle James says we don't have because we have not asked God. Or we have acts, but our acts is not in keeping with God's will or his nature. Secondly, we must be persistent in our action. We cannot just simply ask God once and expect that God will answer our prayer. Sometimes that does happen. But more often than not, it is necessary to keep asking. We have to stay in the habit of continually and consistently asking God for what we desire. Jesus taught his disciples to pray for daily bread. Whatever we need from God, we must ask for it on a daily basis until the request is granted. Thirdly, we must have faith that God will hear and answer our prayers. Jesus told this woman that her great faith is why her request was being granted. Let's look at the Gospel of Matthew. It was written about the end of the first century. Most scholars believe that it was written in Antioch. Antioch was a Greek-speaking city with a substantial Jewish population. And it was located in Syria then. It is now located in south-central Turkey. And the consensus among Bible scholars is that the Gospel of Matthew was written by the Apostle Matthew. Nowhere does the Gospel name its author, but the early church ascribed the authorship of this gospel to Matthew. Matthew was a tax collector. Matthew was a tax collector before Jesus called him to become a disciple. In those days, tax collectors were required to know Greek and be literate and well organized. Matthew became the first person to put into writing the teachings of Jesus. The Gospel of Matthew was first written in Hebrew and then translated to Greek. During the first three centuries of the church, Matthew was a gospel that was held in a highest honor and was also the most quoted gospel. Matthew is the only gospel that mentions a church. It is also the only gospel that mentions the kingdom of heaven. Which brings us to the scripture. And it starts off by saying, leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And we are dealing here with the step one of how to get our prayers answered. And step one is to ask specifically and rightly. Tyre and Sidon were cities that were located on the sea coast or the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. And the people of Tyre were not fond of the Jews. Josephus, the Jewish historian, documented that among the Phoenicians, the Tyrians had the most ill will towards the Jews. The story of the woman of the region, this Syrophoenician woman, whose daughter received healing, is found in Matthew and Mark. Luke and John do not mention this healing. At this point in Jesus' ministry, Herod Antipas, ruler of Galilee and son of Herod the Great, had become interested in Jesus. He thought that Jesus was John the Baptist who had risen from the dead. This meant that Jesus' life was in danger. John the Baptist had reprimanded Herod for divorcing his first wife and then marrying his brother's wife. And Herod did not take kindly to that. He had placed John the Baptist in prison and eventually had beheaded him. As far as Herod was concerned, if John the Baptist was alive again, that just meant he would have to kill him again. So Jesus was leaving that place Galilee where his life was endangered. It was not Jesus' time to die yet. So he went from where King Herod could easily apprehend him. Jesus went down to Tyra and Sidon, Gentile territory, and left the environs of Israel, as King Herod would have no authority in those lands. After King Saul realized that David and not any of his heirs would become king of Israel, King Saul determined to kill David. And Saul searched for David all throughout the land of Israel with his army in order to destroy David. David kept running, but he finally came to the realization that Saul was never going to stop trying to find him, to kill him. David even went so far as to say that one of these days Saul would get his wish and wind up destroying him if he didn't do something that drastic. So David then made up his mind to leave Israel and go live among Israel's enemies, the Philistines. David took his 600 men, their families, his two wives, and he moved over to Gat, where the Philistines king Akshi was reigning. As David surmised, when Saul heard that David was no longer living within the boundaries of Israel, he stopped hunting David. During the Second World War, the Japanese invaded China. At that time, Gladys Aylward was serving God as a missionary. Gladys was originally from England. One night a Chinese nationalist soldier came to inform Gladys that the general had sent instructions that Gladys should abandon the city where she was living and flee to safety. At first, Gladys resisted the general's command. She said she's under God's protection. And the soldier finally informed her that the Japanese had put a price on Gladys' head. The$100 reward by the Japanese high command would be paid out to anybody who would bring Gladys to them dead or alive. This money was enough that someone who knew who she was would probably sell out Gladys. Gladys knew that God was able to keep her and she was not afraid to die. However, she saw no advantage in being killed at the hands of the Japanese. During her time in China, Gladys had started housing and looking after abandoned, unwanted children. And by that time, Gladys had 94 children in her care. Gladys spent the night in prayer and God gave her this verse in Jeremiah, which stated that Judah should flee as the king of Babylon had decided, had devised evil against them. The next day, Gladys rounded up the 94 children and started a long trek to safety. It took almost a month of trekking up mountains, crossing rivers, riding on coal trains. But God took Gladys and her 94 children to safety. At times, discretion is a better part of valor. He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day. He must ask God for wisdom as to what steps we should take. The scripture continues to say a Canaanite woman from the vicinity came to him crying out, Lord, son of David, have mercy on me. My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly. In Jesus' time, the area of Canaan, which included Tyran Sidon, was called Phoenicia, or Syrophoenia. Matthew indicates that the woman was a Canaanite. Mark refers to the woman as being Greek and being born in Syria and Phoenicia. These Phoenicians were descendants of the original Canaanites. When God called Abraham out, the Lord gave him a 12 land that his descendants would own. And as he transferred this land, including Tyra and Sidon, where Jesus and the disciples were currently, he came across the original inhabitants, the Canaanites, and they were not only idol worshippers, but they were generally devoid of morals and ethics. Alexander the Great had passed when had conquered that territory, and he had made Tyra and Sidon into Greek cities. So the woman was therefore definitely a Gentile, living as a Greek, on the Greek rule, and probably speaking Greek. The Greek word that is used here for crying out means to shout. This woman did not come quietly, trying to look normal and not draw attention to herself. She was yelling at the top of her voice. And this woman referred to Jesus as Lord, Son of David. She gave Jesus his title. She called him Messiah. God promised David that the Messiah would be of his lineage. Luke's genealogy shows that Jesus is a direct descendant of David by blood through his mother Mary and legally through his adopted father Joseph. Jesus lived approximately 1,000 years after David. However, as the fulfillment of the prophecy that the Messiah would be a descendant of David, he was referred to as the son of David. That is Messiah. The woman knew who Jesus was. Even he in this hidden country, they knew who Jesus was. News of his good deeds had reached beyond the borders of Israel. She knew that Jesus is the Messiah, the anointed one who would come and change the course of history. She knew that he is the one and only true God. She called Jesus by his name, Son of David. And she had a demon-possessed daughter who was suffering terribly. Satan comes to kill, steal, and destroy. He has no mercy, no limits, and compassion is not part of his makeup. He was doing the worst possible that he could with her daughter. And she was here to seek mercy on behalf of her daughter as well as herself. She knew that the only person alive who could help her and who she was requesting to help her was currently here in her country. Opportunities that are lost never come again. She was seizing the day. She was asking specifically for what she needed from Jesus. She did not look at the impossibility of the situation. Her daughter was not even there with her. She wanted her demon-possessed daughter to be delivered, and this is what she was asking for. The woman made it personal. She is asked specifically, Lord, please deliver my demon-possessed daughter. In 2 Kings 6, 1 to 6, we are told that the sons of the prophets wanted to build a bigger meeting place, so when Elijah came to meet with them. And these men went to the river Jordan and started cutting down trees to use in the building of this new edifice. While doing so, the axe that they were using fell from someone's hand and sank to the bottom of the Jordan River. And these men immediately ran to the prophet Elijah, saying that it was borrowed, so they needed it back. Elijah asked his men to show him where the axe has fallen. He then cut a stick, threw it into the river Jordan at that spot, and immediately the axe head that was made of iron floated to the top of the water. The sons of the prophets had asked specifically for what they needed, and their request was granted. When Gladys Aylward was taking the children to safety and away from the oncoming Japanese soldiers, she came to the banks of the Yellow River. There were no boats available to cross the Yellow River, as the Chinese citizens had all taken them to safety on the other side and had not returned with any. For four days, four long days, Gladys and the 94 children sat on the bank of the Yellow River and they sang and they prayed and they asked God to provide a way for them to cross the Yellow River. And the loud hymn singing of the children on the bank of the river finally caught the attention of someone who could help, a Chinese nationalist soldier. And he came to inquire what was happening. And Gladys informed him that she, along with the 94 children, were attempting to get to safety on the other side of the Yellow River. The soldier said he would help, but it would be dangerous. If the Japanese flew over and saw people in a boat crossing the river, they would fire on the boat and kill everyone. He also noted that every day for weeks the Japanese had been passing by and just firing randomly into the reeds just in case anyone was hiding there. But while Gladys and the children were there, the Japanese had not passed over. It took three trips to ferry Gladys and 94 children to the other side. But during this time, no Japanese appeared. Miraculously, God had heard and answered their prayers. We have to ask specifically for what we need from God. And our acts must be in keeping with the nature of God. He is a holy God. And it is only prayers that are in keeping with God's will that will be answered. But our God is a prayer hearing and answering God. Which brings us to step two. We must persist in acts in. And the scripture says, Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, send her away, for she keeps crying out after us. He answered, I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel. The woman came and knelt before him. Lord help me, she said. Jesus did not even look at the woman while she was yelling and dignified her behavior with a response. He stayed silent throughout all the ruckus that the woman was making. He ignored her completely. It was as though she wasn't even there as far as he was concerned. And then to make matters worse, here comes the indifferent disciples who were completely oblivious to the desperate need of this woman. These disciples did not ask Jesus to pay attention to this obviously distressed woman. Rather, they asked Jesus to get rid of her as she was embarrassing them with her behavior. The Jewish tradition at that time stated that a woman should not speak to a strange man, particularly a religious man. By the Jewish standards of the day, the woman has been extremely brazen to approach Jesus. This made her to be seen to be someone of a low character. In the eyes of Jesus' Jewish disciple, this woman had several strikes against her. One, she was a descendant of the ancient enemies of the Jews, the Canaanites. She was Greek and therefore Gentile. She was a female who was not staying in her place, but was approaching a religious leader all by herself. Finally, after the disciples asked him to get rid of the woman, Jesus finally spoke to her. Jesus told this woman that he did not come here to deal with her, he came to the lost sheep of Israel, his own people, the Jews. Interestingly, Jesus came to the lost sheep of Israel, but they did not want Jesus. While he was here on earth, Jesus' ministry was almost exclusively to the Jews. After his death and resurrection, Jesus gave the disciples instructions to go out into the world. At the time when the woman appeared to him, had not yet come for Jesus to fully evangelize beyond the borders of Israel. The woman, quite wisely, did not give up. She did not stop. She had no intention of walking away disappointed. She came and knelt before Jesus. That meant she was on her knees with her head on the ground, showing Jesus the utmost reverence. The Persians in particular would prostrate themselves in this manner to show respect to someone in authority. She was a desperate woman. This she knew would be her last and only hope to get healing for her daughter. And she kept on asking Jesus to help her and to have mercy on her daughter. In Luke 18, verses 1 to 8, Jesus compares prayer to a widow who kept going to an unjust judge with a petition. And the judge did not fear God, and he didn't care what people had to say about him. He had no intention of granting the woman's requests. However, the woman would not go away. And eventually the unjust judge caved in and granted her requests as he could not stand the fact that she kept on coming back. When Gladys Aylward wanted to go to China to be a missionary, she was 27 years old. And she enrolled into the school that Henry Hudson had started, the China Inland Missions School. But she was not a particularly good student. When she was 14, she had dropped out of school to become a housemaid. And after three months, she was failing. She had been failing for three months. She was failing Bible studies, and they called in and they told her they'd have to kick out because people who were more worthy, she was taking up space. Additionally, they think she was just too old at 27. So Gladys left, and after that experience, she realized that if she were to make it to China, it would have to be her making the effort to make it happen. And Gladys kept praying and believing that God wanted her in China, and if he did, he would work it out. She had no money, no rich parents, no rich friends. And so she decided to work to raise the money to get to China. And as God would have it, in London, when she went to the agency, they assigned her as a housemaid to Sir Francis' young husband. Sir Francis was a famous explorer who had spent extensive time in the interior of China and had written books about his experience. And so he allowed Gladys to read his books so that she could learn about China. And Gladys kept praying: here's my Bible, here's all the money I have. Find some way to use me in God. In 1930, Gladys actually saved enough money to buy a train ticket to China and began a dangerous journey to become a missionary in China. At long last, her prayers had been answered. During the war, Gladys' story as a missionary came to the intention of a young journalist who came to the village that she was in in China to get a story. He published his story and was picked up by Times magazine and read by millions. Gladys' fame, she became more famous than the Sir Francis, for whom she had been a housemaid. We must stay persistent, constant, and uh and consistent in our prayers. God is a prayer hearing and answering God. Step three, you must believe that the request can and will be granted. The scripture says, He replied, It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to the dogs. Yes, it is Lord, she said. Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table. Then Jesus said to her, Woman, you have great faith. Your request is granted. And her daughter was healed at that moment. Jesus stayed in the role of the Jew who was concerned only about other Jews. Jesus informed this Gentile woman that the bread of healing that was his to dispense was for Abraham's children, the Jews. It'd be wrong for him to give it to a dog. The Jews looked upon all Gentiles as dogs and referred to them as Gentile dogs. However, the Greek word that is used here by Jesus for dog means little dog or puppy. It refers to the pet dog that the children in the family would often have around them. Jesus did not denicate this woman as much as it seemed. Jesus seems to have given the woman the rationale that she could use to get healing. The woman didn't take offense and leave in a half. She accepted the designation in great humility and she humbly accepted the characterization of being a dog and found a way to still ask Jesus to meet her need. She agreed with Jesus that it would be unfair not to feed the children and to give the food to the dog instead. However, she told Jesus that what she is asking for is a crumb that would fall from the dinner table that the pet dog would eagerly jump on and swallow. This woman is stating, this is nothing for you to do, Jesus. You are Adonai, Elohim, El Shaddai, Jehovah Jirah, your Lord, you hung the stars in place. I know that you are more than capable of granting my request. And the Jesus gave accolades to this woman by calling her and telling her rather that she had great faith. The only two times that is recorded in the New Testament that Jesus spoke of someone having great faith, these persons were both Gentiles. One, the Roman centurion, the other, this Syrophoenician woman. And the only time that Jesus spoke directly to someone and told them that they had great faith, it was this Syrophoenician woman. With the Roman centurion, Jesus said it to the crowd. And Jesus gave her the desire of a heart. Because she was not displayed, she was not discouraged, she did not give up. She kept on humbly axing. At that very moment, instantly her daughter was healed. Jesus lived the great commission before he gave it to the disciples. He did not conform to any nationality, gender, or racial boundaries. He was showing his disciples that he did not just come to the Jews. God promised Abram that through him all the nations of the world would be blessed. And Jesus loved on this desperate, needy woman. He did not stick to rules and tradition and just watched her suffer. He heard a cry and extended love, grace, and mercy. Similarly, when Jesus was in Jerusalem, he reached out to the paralyzed man at the pool of Bethesda. The man had been waiting for someone to place him in the water when the pool was troubled. There was a ritual that an angel would come down and stir the waters of the pool, and if you got in while the waters are being stirred, you would receive your healing. The drawback for this man is that he had no one to place him in the water and he was paralyzed. For 38 years he had been unable to move. Around this pool, there are a lot of disabled paid people, the lame, the blind, the paralyzed. And then Jesus showed up and asked him if he wanted to be healed. And then Jesus told him to get up, take up his mat and walk. And this man didn't quibble, he didn't question, he didn't ponder. He got up and was healed instantly. His faith had made him whole. We read of City Stud, who was serving as a missionary in the Congo, Africa in the early 1900s. And he had problems with his teeth, but he did not wish to make the journey back to England to have his teeth worked on. And he would state that if God wanted his teeth worked on, God would send him a dentist. In 1921, John Buck came to the Congo and introduced himself to City Stud. He told him that a year and a half ago, God called him to go to the Congo to fix Cities' teeth. He had applied to the missionary board in England, but again then denied his application as I said he was too old. Buck knew that his orders were from God, so he shut down his dentistry practice in England to come to the Congo to fix cities' teeth. God heard and answered City's prayer. Took a year and a half, but God actually sent a dentist halfway around the world to fix Cities' teeth. We serve a God who is well able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or think. Delay is not denial. We must keep on believing. That God will come through for us. We have an expression, a song that says he may not come when we want him to, but he's right on time. In the summary, there are three steps that are uh embedded here in this passage to have prayer answered. First, we must ask specifically for what we want from God, and this request must be in keeping with the will and nature of God if it is to be answered. Secondly, we must keep on asking. Uh God will show up right on time. Thirdly, we must believe that we serve a supernatural God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or think. God wants to hear and answer our prayers. However, God will only answer the prayers of those who are faithfully following Jesus in Christian discipleship. Today, God is calling on all of us to follow Him in Christian discipleship. Today, if you do not know Jesus as personal Lord and Savior, he's knocking at the door of your heart. Will you please let Jesus in? There's eternal life after this life here on earth. And we have to make a choice where we'll spend eternity, hell or heaven. Hell is real. Jesus spoke more about hell than he did about heaven. There's only one way to heaven, and that is by confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and believing in our hearts. If anyone listening wishes to come to know the joy, peace, and love that can be found in Jesus, please feel free to repeat after me. Jesus, please come into my heart and be Lord of my life. Wash me and make me clean. Teach me to live for you. Amen. If you have prayed this prayer, congratulations. You're now officially one of Jesus' believers. Please find a Christian church to go to fellowship with other believers so that you can learn to be a disciple of Jesus. In conclusion, we pray that this podcast has positively impacted all of our lives and has enabled us to become more like Jesus. Please like, follow, and subscribe to Catch on Fire Podcast on the varying platforms that we're featured on. Please join me now as I speak words of life. Our confession. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus that we are still holding on to God's unchanging hand. We are still in God's holy plan. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus that we are living holy lives as God requires. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus that we are feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, welcoming the stranger, giving clothes to those in need, ministering to the sick and visiting those in prison. And we are doing so to the least of those among us. As when we do so, we are ministering to Jesus. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus that we have received healing, as by his tribes we are healed. From the crown of our head to our soles of our feet, all of our bodily organs are working correctly. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus that God is ordering our step, that all weapons that are formed against us have been utterly and completely destroyed. And every tongue that is rising against us in judgment is condemned. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus that all generational curses are cancelled in our lives. Anything that runs in our ancestral bloodline that is not of God has no power over us, our children and our grandchildren, and is eliminated forever, right now. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus the angels are watching over and keeping our family, our children, our grandchildren, our loved ones safe. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus that every negative word that has been and is be spoken all over our lives and that of our family, children, grandchildren, and loved ones is cancelled and sent back to the pit from whence it came. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus that we are the head and not the tail. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus that anything that has been dispatched to hinder our blessings, our progress and our well-being is immediately destroyed. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus that we are financially in line with God's word. And as such, we are lenders and not borrowers. As a result, all of our deaths have been paid and are forgiven. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus that the enemy of our souls has no authority over our finances and our funds, and that we are good stewards of the money that God has placed in our keeping. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus that in the area of business and our carriers, that just as Isaac reaped a hundredfold, the blessings of Abraham are falling on us, and we too are reaping a hundredfold from whatever we put our hands to. We declare and decree in the name of Jesus that we are living under an open heaven. In every area of our lives, blessings are falling on us, our family and our loved ones. These blessings are being manifested in our lives, in the spiritual and in the physical. We'll say the 23rd Psalm: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leaded me besides the still waters. He restored my soul. He leaded me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Here though I walk to the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies, thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. Amen.
