God doesn't call us to fear money or worship it—He calls us to steward it well.

In this episode, I sit down with Catholic wealth educator and entrepreneur, Rita Boccuzzi, to explore what it means to embrace a biblical understanding of wealth—one rooted in faith, stewardship, receiving, generosity, and God's abundant provision.

Together, we talk about:

🤍 What Scripture really says about wealth
🤍 Trusting God as our source and supply
🤍 Breaking free from scarcity thinking
🤍 Why receiving is a vital part of the spiritual life and building wealth
🤍 Stewarding the gifts God has entrusted to us
🤍 Living generously and intentionally, rooted in Christ-centered values

Whether you're navigating financial uncertainty, growing a business, preparing for retirement, or simply longing to trust God more deeply with every area of your life, this conversation offers a refreshing perspective on what it means to live in His abundance.

I pray this episode encourages you to see wealth not as something to pursue for its own sake, but as a gift to steward faithfully—so that every blessing you've received can become a blessing for others.

Rita is a retirement and wealth specialist, money education mentor, and living benefits life insurance certified professional with over two decades of experience. She is a movement builder redefining how women experience money. She challenges the belief that financial stress is normal and instead teaches that clarity is the missing currency. After building wealth, losing it, rebuilding, and facing both cancer and what she calls financial cancer, Rita now equips women and their families to move from confusion to control by connecting mindset to skill set in a way that is simple, strategic, and sustainable. As founder and CEO of Flourish Incorporated and executive vice president of Five Rings Financial, she is on a mission to financially educate and empower millions. She believes that when a woman understands money and makes smarter decisions, she doesn't just change her life, she changes generations. Rita, welcome to the show. I'm so happy to have you here today. Um I I love to just start with my guests and talk about your background with Catholicism. And I think we have such an important topic here because I've had a lot of guests talk about the holy part of living whole and holy. But I feel like when we have financial health, we are in more of that wholeness piece. So I'm so happy that you're here. So why don't you go ahead and just tell us a little bit about your background with Catholicism?

SPEAKER_00

All right. So agreed. So in my background with Catholicism is I'm a crater Catholic. I am the daughter of immigrant parents that came straight from Italy and uh, you know, was raised with my parents. I'm I'm gonna say in a pretty strict household, and where, you know, you honor your father and mother, and we were given all the biblical values that um my parents could teach us. And I did not go to Catholic school, but I did go to religious education, which at that time I think was called CCD catechism. And, you know, I learned a lot. And I think I've always stayed in my faith. Going to church, I think for, you know, a lot of times kids say, Oh, it feels like a chore. They don't want to go. But I'm gonna say there were times I felt like that, but for the most part, it felt like my reprieve. I did choir when I was a young adult, and then I ended up um, let's see, doing children's liturgy for my children for 15 years, and then um became a Eucharistic minister. And I kind of circled back to my culture, the Italian culture, when I started hearing about the Eucharistic miracles, especially in Lancia, uh it it became like undeniable, right? How could like if if you can explain to me what scientists have not been able to explain and do get converted from, because once they understand it, they can't deny it. And so for me, it comes from I'm gonna call it the simplicity of being a child. It comes from just like Jesus says, come to him like you're a child. And when we keep it really, really simple, you know, over the years, I've seen a lot of things. I'm I'm 58, I don't mind saying my age at this point in time in life. And I think that because depending where you are, I'm called a baby. And depending where I am, you know, my kids might tease and say, what was it like during the dinosaur ages, grandma? You know, um, no, my grandson doesn't say that yet, but my son has said that to me. We have a we have a playful sense of humor. But the reality is I think one of the things that anchors me is going to mass to come in communion with Christ and hear the message of the Holy Spirit, not be entertained by the priests or the choir, but to participate and know how I can contribute. So just like I loved volunteering, and I still do, and I love philanthropy, and I'm gonna say the difference, right? The philanthropy where you're just giving money on that aspect of philanthropy, or are you giving your works? I so feel more the connection when I'm connecting with people. So that's that beautiful connection for me with Christ. And then the Holy Spirit is sharing that message and word with each other. And it's each other as the community of the church. While I love listening to the priest, a lot of times people will say, Rita, what parish do you go to? And I say, the one that the Holy Spirit is calling to me to that of that day. Because for different reasons, I might be going to different churches, whether I'm on vacation or whether there's a schedule thing, but I won't miss going to church. Doesn't matter where I'm at, if I can help it. If it has to be online, then it has to be online. You know, if you're not well in bed, that's the beauty of how things have changed for us, right? So we could take technology for good, or oh my gosh, it just opened up a whole new world for everybody. And it's that perspective. So my journey has been a journey of growth and still is for growth and perspective. And I'm always learning every day values that come from the Bible, such as wisdom, right? And love and abundance and seeing things in that light. So yeah, that's pretty much my history of that.

SPEAKER_01

I love it. And it sounds like you have such a good foundation with the Eucharist. And, you know, I really think that's the foundation for the Catholic life. And it's what brought my husband and I actually into the Catholic faith. So I love that you mentioned the Eucharistic miracles because yeah, when you see those and you hear about those, it's really undeniable that that is the true presence.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And one of the things that we've talked about is your identity and then beliefs that are formed from that identity and how that all relates to financial life. So I'd love for you to share a little bit more about that piece.

SPEAKER_00

I love that because there's two areas, and you just hit on one area, what I call a belief cycle. And the belief cycle, having studied a lot about wealth from multimillionaires and billionaires, from financial professionals, financial companies over the past two decades, is what are we indoctrinated with and what are we formulating? If what we're indoctrinated with isn't working for us, why is that, right? Because it's not always just do away with it. It's what's happening. You got to get to the core of what's happening. And how can I reformulate that to be working in the right way? And that definitely comes with money. And so for me, when I started, I'm going to say during COVID, I was practicing the power of presence a lot because we had a lot of time on our hands. And literally the coursework of my information, at that time, it had been about 15 years of coursework. And what the vision and the order of what I got to do was connecting mindset to skill set of money. And then that gets to, I call it our heart set, right? Our desires. So it clears a pathway. And the path is your core values. I always start with values because if you think about it, isn't that what everything's in the Bible? There's nothing new under the sun. It's just how we're seeing it. In I'm going to call it where like the veil is getting removed and it's an enlightened state. So I always tell people, because they're like, oh, the devil's in the details. I said, no, he is not. The divine is in the details, and the divine will provide you enlightenment. So come from that perspective. And so you'll start to receive different response. So core values is that pathway. Beliefs is your walk of that pathway. And there's different components to that. Like we just talked about, the indoctrinated formulated. How does that connect with our emotions? Because the way we're, I'm going to say we are created, and most of us have these thoughts that are negative. That's very common in the world. And so I've also learned, you know, from neuroscience and understanding that aspect of the scientific actually is complementary to the Bible. If you find out there's like an amazing book that I'm reading right now, it's a little bit of a challenge because it's extremely scientific and it shows God's grandeur and everything. So it makes the connection. So surrounding ourselves with these positive things that help us to see that enlightenment is amazing. And it just goes on. It lends to how our habits show up and how our actions show up and what is our character like? And if we're out of character for ourselves, you know, sometimes when you're sick, you're a little more grumpy. You're not always making the best decision. So see, that's that's all related when you can look at it. And so sometimes it's like, oh, woe is me. So now we become the victim. But how can you be the victor aligned with a God that is blessing us, you know, in us, with us, through us to move forward. So we're shifting our focus. All that is mindset. And is it a process to learn? Yes. I mean, we get to learn if you hadn't heard it that way before, of course. So shaming and blaming yourself or fear, fear is the unknown. You get to know. You know, I've been having the, I'm gonna say receiving a lot of messages. And I actually wrote it down this morning because I was in another meeting. It's about confidence. Really, most of us just don't have confidence around money because we've never been taught. And we wish our parents would have taught us. And most of us don't even realize it's not that they didn't want to, it's they were never taught. So, how do we shift these things to come in communion with and connection with that energy of confidence to raise what I call our financial intelligence? It's not about IQ, it's about what you're practicing in faith and in life and in finances. That's the approach that I take. And then you connect it to a skill set. What's your relationship like? So money is a resource. It's a God-given resource, it's an abundant resource. No one can deny there's not, I mean, there's not millions and trillions of dollars out there. It's there. It's how are we connected to the relationship with it and what came before that so that we can shift the story and then create the phases of life like now from that learning, not waiting for each phase of life to happen before you're doing that. It's almost, I don't want to, it's never too late, but it's it's more challenging when it's later. And then you just learn principles. A lot of us don't learn principles of saving money. A lot of us don't learn principles of protecting our money. I'm gonna say probably 90% of Americans have have no knowledge of this information. Yet when I was in all these wealth courses, it was a given. It was an as if, like, why wouldn't you know that? So it's just like a little flip of a switch. But once you start to learn these things, anchoring and building, then you connect and you create what works for you. I call that your financial positioning criteria, right? Or your guide, for which I'm gonna say you get to pray over and you get to decide what's right for you versus somebody else, you thinking they're more intelligent about knowing what you need. And they might not be. And if they're not connected with your values, right? So I figure your first top five, and my first one is I was saying about confidence is energy. Energy is a current, right? It's an a current C can be money related, but I believe it's related to love. And then there's a resource that we connect to with that love in relationship, good or bad. And then we get when we start to get clear, it starts to get easier. And if you do it with God at the center, like I do a what I call a core value compass.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, about that.

SPEAKER_00

Tell us about core value compass. Yeah, the core value compass is where a compass will keep you on direction and on time. Because if you veer off just a little, you're gonna end up in another destination that you may not want to be. And you may be able to get back to the destination. You can course correct, but it might take you a little longer. And in humanity, we get to have grace and space for ourselves that sometimes we have learning lessons that we learn from. So, core values, my center is always love in the center of it, because the core is God. God is love. And if it doesn't feel loving and it doesn't feel like a part of my faith, then why move any further? And it's not to say that you are judging or uh segregating yourself from things, but you are separating from things that are not healthy or aligned for you and for your values. And then, like my true north is wisdom, because wisdom is knowledge. That's where the divine starts showing up and you start to receive enlightenment. I say my right side, that is my family. And I have a fist on purpose because I will fight for my family, right? I'm an Italian mama bear, and you wrong or start to lead one of my cubs off course. I am gonna show up and fight for you because I see it all too much and it's scary. And I think that that's that fear gets to be conquered with love, right? And it will always conquer it. So you always go back to that center. My left side is my faith because that's my heart side, right? Again, it's leading back to love, but it's leading to the faith walk that sometimes we're not going to get the answers immediately. And we get to learn what is the lesson that we're needing to understand right now so that we can have that clarity. And then my foundation is a word I spell a little bit differently, and it relates to two things. So the words for me sometimes encompass multiple words, and it's the word wealth. And the word wealth is spelt W H E A L T H. Because if you take off your health, whether it's spiritual, emotional, mental, physical, vocational, financial, you're off track. Period. Like you, you cannot, like you, it's very challenging to move forward. And wealth in that context, wealth is really about abundance. And we have a God of abundance. And so when we tap into that foundation versus scarcity, it's not about a God of scarcity or punishment. He's a God of loving nature, of an abundant nature to connect all of us together with him in communion and with the Holy Spirit and our guardian angels to guide us along the way.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I love that. It's like when you know who you are and you know what you value, then that can drive those beliefs, which drives your actions, which then drives your results.

SPEAKER_00

And you know what the beautiful gift of that is, is you are not wasting. You are not wasting energy, you're not wasting time, your time or the other person's time. And sometimes it's up to us to take that leadership position of, you know what? I hear what you're saying, and this is just not for me. It's not connecting to my values base. And so I'm gonna say that this is not for me, and I appreciate your time, but I'm gonna save time for you and me so that we don't keep going down a path where we end up hours, days, months later, and you're back at square one just because somebody's trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Guess to be super simple.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, and you're more honest.

SPEAKER_00

And you're more honest. You're being honest to the other person, and more importantly, you're holding honesty and integrity for yourself, which is wisdom and love. It connects to all of them.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes. What would you say for someone who says, well, money's the root of all evil. And as Christians, we have no business being wealthy.

SPEAKER_00

I love that one because honestly, yes. And I'm and I'm gonna preface it with this. Sometimes we learn teachings because when we're in an infant state of our spirituality, I've read a few good books. Oh, I forgot the one that it's um, let's see if it comes to me. But there are good books on levels of spirituality. And I heard it while I was at a silent retreat, where we were in a room where we were having lunch, a hundred women at the silent retreat, and you could not talk. Now imagine a hundred women in a room not talking. But what was the beautiful thing is they would, I think it's called spiritual fire. They were reading a book to us, and I felt like literally, sometimes I get little visuals is like, oh my gosh, I feel like I'm in my kindergarten class with my legs closed in the little reading time circle where my kindergarten teacher, Miss Mason, is reading to me. And I thought, this feels so amazing. And that's such a it's such a simplistic connection. And when I heard about um, where am I in my spiritual journey? Then you make that connection. So back to money's the root of all evil. First of all, you got to take it in the right context, not the incorrect context, and you got to verify. So everything for me is like I'm a very trusting person, but I get to verify. And so what I learned was it's not money's the root of all evil. And most people are probably saying it as we're talking. It's like the love of money, it's the idolatry. So I'm gonna tell you when I first realized I was in medicine for 27 years. And when I had a major life health event, my cancer event, and then our family got, like I said, we got financial cancer because we had experienced a market hit oh wait. And as we're building, the good thing is when you have the knowledge, you can rebuild faster than when you don't. But it was only two years. So we couldn't rebuild, we didn't rebuild fast enough to then have all these other challenges. And then you're not well, it's very hard for that battle. When you're in a relationship with money and you know that it is a resource, a God-given resource that is of love. And there are many parts of scripture that talk about different areas of how he blessed Abraham, how you know, and look at the Proverbs 31 woman and the description of money. I find like she's the businesswoman of today, if she's aligned with God. So aligning with the scripture that is of abundance and understanding the one that's lack is teaching you that we get to have the mindset of abundance and connect with God in that, but not greed, right? Don't confuse greed and abundance. I mean, you know, we have AI, look at the differences because they're vastly different. And so when our focus becomes connection with the Lord in the abundance of gifts and being open to receiving God, receiving his blessings. I think this is a big challenge for women who are givers and doers.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

And so what's that relationship? Relationship like you get to establish it. You heard me say a little earlier is we get to take leadership. Well, what does that mean? That means if money were your partner, I like to say this and have a little bit of fun so that this is not so dismal. It gets to be, hmm, if money were my partner, how would it rate me for how much time I spend with it? Oh and when I ask that question at the front of the room, people are like, they laugh. Because the reality is because we're under this premise of money's the root of evil, or we shouldn't be focusing on it. See, for me, that's a distraction of the devil. He wants you to part ways with a good relationship of an abundant God and an abundant relationship. Because remember, he can do all things. It's not up to us. So that's the other piece, is the surrender piece of it all. Like you may not be at a journey where you're having, like you've been asking whatever, for that home or whatever it is that's tied to a financial resource. We could just step back and ask, where am I responsible in my actions for that? That's kind of a challenging thing. And it's always good to do it with somebody that's a loving accountability partner. And so that's someone that you just make a connection. I've had an accountability partner for 15 years, still teaches me lessons to today. Because in talking about it with someone who's loving, who's on the same focus for you, rather than waiting and getting in front of a financial professional or somebody that you're going to be making a financial decision with or deal with and hoping that they know you and understand you when you don't even understand yourself, separates you. And then it puts that other person in control. I'm all about us being in control because God gave it to us. Abraham got blessed because he listened. He was connected. And we get to do that and practice it and learn the lessons that sometimes take time. It's not about a get rich quick thing. I'm just going to call it that. It is about what is richness to you. And I'm going to, this is the other thing I'd like to make us aware. If we're living in America, you know what? This country is still an amazing country, no matter what's going on in it, because the reality is most of us have indoor plumbing. A lot of us have cars that we drive or a way of transportation that we can take. We have indoor lighting. We have beds. That is vast richness. Yes. So, yes, can we dream for the big? Absolutely. That's why he gives us dreams. Be grateful and thankful for what you have and have accomplished and move from there.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And, you know, the parable of the talents, too. And oh my gosh. That's um talk a little bit more about that.

SPEAKER_00

So I think the parable of talents is also for me. I'm going to say it from uh like right now, as I'm seeing in our discussion, is the talents is also getting educated on how to do things. And that's up to you. So if you don't know, then you operate from that point of fear, right? Which is the one servant that buried the talents because he was like, I know you're gonna get mad. I don't know what else to do. Let me just bury it. Destruction, cut off. The person that gave them the talents basically said, you could have at least put it in the bank. So you can do something rather than nothing. So, in other words, take an action. And for me, the action would start would have been like, well, what are my options? What can I learn? So we're in this abundant word. Now we have AI, and some of it's good, and some of it's, and so then you got to decipher that. So for me, one of the goals, because I really, when God said you're gonna be teaching about millennials, I read a book, The Purpose-Driven Life. And I went through that book out of sheer curiosity to see what would happen by the end of the book, to say, Am I doing what I'm supposed to be doing in life, which was in medicine and serving people? Or was it not? Because I actually had wanted to be a teacher, and life had uh a different course for me. I had a brother that died tragically, and things just went off on a different course. So that's how I ended up in medicine. But still in my heart, I wanted to be a teacher, which is beautiful because come over, look at remember when I said it's sometimes time. Almost 38 years later, and it brings me to tears because it's something that I realized this year, is that I'm getting to teach more and more people. And I love that. But it took 38 years for me to be on that journey and love it, learn it. And um so really the time is God's timing so that this way we can implement what so you get to learn the lessons and then implement them. It's not just about like it's not by osmosis, right? It's like we don't learn the knowledge of a book from just you get to read it, you get to have leadership. There are workshops out there. And so from going starting, I was not confident. I kept on thinking about uh Moses and oh my gosh, who am I? I don't have the words, I don't have the knowledge. That's how I started out. But I wasn't gonna block God if he was gonna use me. And so with that, I kept stepping a little step forward, a little step forward, a little, and now I teach in front of big groups, small groups. I love it. I teach peers in financial industry because just because you get in front of a financial person, they're not all created equal.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Like one of my first questions is what are your values? They don't know what they are. Uh, I mean, you get to help them with it and you don't just be mean and cut them off, but you get to wonder that they didn't have that learning. So, how can they know how to connect with your values? Yes. So, very important about making these connections in a new way so that this way we can change history. And I say multi-generationally. So, as of my generation, we get to start learning now, and we get to start teaching our next generation of young adults that are coming into being. And then I have friends that are teachers for younger ones. But guess who gets to do it? We do. And things have come up: health issues, all sorts of things to take me off track. And then I go through my value cycle and I find that it's actually anchoring me. Because remember, my core values is my path, my belief system is my walk. And so when I hold into my beliefs and values, it makes it like really easy to decide. And you really get that intuitive nature. And that intuitive nature I call God's whispers. Like, because you know it's like he's telling you it's a form of communication. Are you open to listening and receiving? And I'm saying that again because doers do. And if you're in the do, Martha and Mary.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. Okay. And same with the talents of each servant. He really didn't do much. He did pretty much nothing other than bury it. The others sought what to do and then took action.

SPEAKER_01

Problem solving. Yeah. And trusting. Because God can put something in your heart, and then it may be like, oh, I that's too big for me. I can't do that. But we're gonna have to account for that in the end. What we did with the talents he put within us.

SPEAKER_00

And it's about staying anchored, right? Trust me, I get solicited by companies all the time because I have a license and I get to choose what company. And I went through probably, well, probably a dozen, but for sure I went through nine and seven year period evaluating them. And none of them were a fit. And I just thought, I'm done. God, this isn't for me. You didn't mean me be here because none of them are aligned with the values that belong to me and you. So I'm done until I ended up at an event for someone else and got introduced to another company. Like total not planning it, not looking for it anymore, but clear as day because I could see the vision and literally the words that they would speak spoke of values, spoke of mission, spoke of vision. I was like, how are they in my head?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. What did they say that was an aha for you?

SPEAKER_00

Well, first of all, they talked about values and their vision to help middle income Americans. And it wasn't about getting rich. It was about all of us getting rich over time together by growing in richness of our self-development of ourselves, connecting us closer in our relationships to one another, and being on a mission to change the trajectory of how we do finances and have the relationship while supporting each other. Two of the cliches, if you will, you know, it takes a village and rising tides raises all ships. Those things I know right away. Wow. And they weren't just talking it, because I did. I evaluated them too. I went like this, going, Yeah, you're gonna have to prove to me you're not just fluffing words. And I went and explored it. Well, that was, let's see, that was in 2014, so 12 years ago. And they've been true to their word and honored the values and anchored me and mine. So when you're in a relationship work with a family, it's gonna be if it's a good relationship, it anchors and strengthens that relationship to build stronger. And it doesn't pull you away from what's good, just like when we get to be anchored in our faith.

SPEAKER_01

Amen. I love that. Tell me a little bit about the receiving, about what you notice with women today. Because I notice that with my clients, it's very easy to pour out, especially when we're people of faith. We want to help and support people. What do you think are the barriers to women receiving today?

SPEAKER_00

I think this is a really good one because this is a lesson for me a lot of the times. This is one that I think most of us work with it. Um, but you know, we were created to receive, to create creation to put into this world as women, right? To have babies, we had to be in a receiving situation to have life created. And for me, when I heard that, I thought, wow, we were designed to be receivers first. First. Otherwise, there is no life. So, in other words, very simplistically, in my simplistic nature, is I gotta make sure I'm taking care of me so I can take care of others. That's not selfishness, that's being a woman of wisdom. And in being a woman of wisdom, I get to surround myself with other women of wisdom and like-minded. So thank you for building this community because this is where we grow together and the sharing of these knowledges and insights that are given to us, I believe, from God. And so, with that receivership is okay, now you receive it. So, think about this: like with money, very specifically, lottery winners receive a whole lot of money, but what happens? They lose it. They lose it. And I'm gonna tell you right now, we're in an era where um there is the greatest wealth transfer happening, and it will be happening into women's hands. And 90% of women will be solely responsible for making decisions around money, and only 30% are prepared. And why? Because of the lack of knowledge. So, receivership is being able to receive that knowledge, receive the support, right? Just like a child. They go through school, they receive the knowledge, they receive from their support from their parents. So, again, back to community so that we can create unity together. You do not have to do this alone. And if you think other people more than you, probably not, because I just told you it's like 30%. And that 30% is probably like me. God made it my mission, or somebody did it because of what it was their driver or their values is I want to have as much money as possible so I could travel the world. Or do I want to have as much money so that I can help as many philanthropic efforts as possible? I want to teach people how to fish. I don't want to give them the fish because I know when you give them the fish, it's just like the lottery thing. The devil will distract them, detour them. And there are so many people like that. And even in the financial profession, like I said, I didn't even want to be in it because the amount of people who where their knowledge was based on ego, right? So what is ego? Again, these are all my little learnings, and I like quashing them down. I mean, this is amazing. You guys are getting a lot of nuggets. You may or may not know it. But ego is etching God out.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I've heard that.

SPEAKER_00

Right? It's because it's true. And then I I love like spare the rod, spoil the child, right? Well, what is the rod? In my perspective, it's respect or being responsible, respectful, responsible. It's organized or order and it's discipline so that you can keep consistent and keep being connected. Because what being in our faith takes respect and responsibility. It takes being clear on our pathway and connected, that is an organized mind, and being disciplined that when someone's coming to you to try and talk to you about maybe their faith, are you anchored in yours? So that rod is not a weapon to harm you, it is a weapon to protect you. So when we're sparing that, now we're not arming our kids, we're not arming ourselves. So this gets to be again a mindset armor, a mindset weapon, right? So that this way when we're in front of financial professionals, we learn how to ask questions that might not be traditional ones. And we got to ask ourselves questions of clarity ever before we get in front of them. In order to be ready to receive the right information. Otherwise, they're gonna put you on the track. So, I mean, just a little quick note on so, because sometimes people say, oh, this kind of financial is better or this one's not. All of it was created for good. Trust me. It's just not that every single thing is for everyone. And so when a financial professional learns, they learn what's called their wheelhouse, their information, their company's information. They could be what's called captive or independent. Independents tend to learn multiple companies. Captive means they only learn one. They might have the right thing for you, but they might not. But guess what? They're only going to talk to you about what they know. And that's their company and their information. Not right or wrong. It's just this. But you, it's up to you to know if their stuff is right or wrong for you.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

Because they don't know. And if you have something that you're asking for that doesn't fit their model, they're gonna make it fit. Because they're trying, I'm gonna say, in for those that are in the best interest, they're trying to give you the best of what will work with what they have.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

So it's up to us in how we receive. So be open to receiving, like you're receiving a baby in your arms. How would you treat it? Like, think of this beautiful resource and gift that you are being given. That's why we're supposed to be tithing. How's that working? Have you gotten off track? Don't shame or blame yourself because the only shame and blame comes from the devil. God does not shame and blame us. He knows us in our humanity and forgives us over and over and over and over again. And that's the beauty of our God. And so, guess what? If he can do it for you, receive it and do it for yourself. I think that's the number one thing in receiving and being mindful that you're probably a child and an infant in this state of learning around it. So it could take a few years or it could take a program that's a few weeks, it could take several books, but you get to take the step that you want to take. And I go back to the fun part is create a calendar date with your money that you're gonna learn from something, some way, some step to make you better and more connected with the resource God has given you. That's your responsibility.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. And mindset is so huge.

SPEAKER_00

And it's a loving one. That's why I start with it goes back to God as love. It goes back to the core. I hope everybody, I mean, I'm gonna say I hope everybody has love, which is God, at the heart of their core values. Yes. Because it all starts with that. And I know that sounds funny because I talk about love and money all the time.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because it is about love.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. What do you think are some of the unrenewed mindsets that people have around money that maybe are a lot of them are things we learn as kids and that we just carry them until we become aware. So, what are some of the ones that you see with your clients?

SPEAKER_00

I think so, so when we understand that what we learned from ages one to eight years old is the anchoring of our money story, period. It's that development period. So not being worthy is a big one. Cause this isn't God, is I mean, He created you. You're worthy. That's it. I mean, it gets to be that simple. And so worthiness is a big one. And I struggled with it for a very long time, especially when it was like, oh, now you're gonna teach others. It's like, uh, okay, I got to the level where I'm worthy here, but now I and so we get to grow, which is beautiful. Um, and and being comfortable in the uncomfortable talking money is uncomfortable for many people, not for me. Because, like for me, by the way, and for ladies specifically, men are typically not uncomfortable talking about money. So we can learn a lot from our male contarts. We can learn that when someone is saying something that is completely going off track is saying, you know, I don't think this is for me. It would be a no. And that no would be a complete sentence. Okay, that's a tip. The other thing is definitely, you know, that it's the root of all evil, that money doesn't grow on trees, that money is scarce. I make money, but I don't know how to hold on to it. It flies from me. You know, there's not enough. There's always more than enough. I mean, it's if you want to take a trip to Vegas, you'll see money flying all over the place. But that's not in the best interest of everyone. I mean, you could do that. By the way, it's not about deprivation either. That's the other thing is, gosh, I don't want to do a budget. Like I you say the word, I can see people like literally the color of their skin change, their eyes will like do something, the tension, or they'll kind of like they might even motion because their stomach is turning. Okay, so again, mindset. So, what is a budget? So I went through a course that a girlfriend of mine gave that she does a little elementary type course than what I do. And she taught it as, right? So I can learn new things from people who are teaching simplistic things because we get to repeat them. Repetition is the mother of all learning. So people say, Oh, if I can't learn it once with money, then I'm I'm not good at it. Oh, no, no, no, no, no. All the more repetition in different ways, different angles till it opens up. So she said a budget is baby, you deserve getting everything. It's an acronym. Baby, you deserve getting everything. And my friend, her name is Shelly. She's amazing. And so then the other thing is that I learned that I knew when I was in connection with this company, how I said they teach it as what's your prosperity spending plan like? What's your fabulous forecaster like? Which one does it resonate with you? Because it's not about deprivation. It's back to the rod to create the armor with your plan. And a plan is a purposely leveraged action. Now, and can you tell us that I talk a lot like I'm in grade school?

SPEAKER_01

But it helps you remember things. I love this.

SPEAKER_00

This is how it gets to be. And this is how you anchor the memory. I mean, this is how I do it, literally. Yeah, I love it. Simple. Simple. So that's what you get.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. What about what would you say to a Catholic woman who says, Well, if I am wealthy and I have more wealth, I'm going to become this terrible person.

SPEAKER_00

Mmm. That's a great man. I love it.

SPEAKER_01

So tell you what I think after, but I want to know. Okay, cool. I'm going to tell you I have a coach who's a who's a financial, she's a financial. Coach and perfect. I love what she says about this, but I would love to hear what you say. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Money amplifies more of who you are. Period. It amplifies more of who you are. If you're a good person, like in my world, somebody like we had a lesson where we got, hey, try and spend eight million dollars. I was in a room, like I'm a Zoom room, and we were doing it, and I was done in about like, I don't know, probably five, 10 minutes writing out my list. Done. I mean, there were specifics around it too. Now I've been, as I get up in leadership, it's like, okay, how are you going to spend a hundred million and you can't spend it on others and you can't like they give you all these restrictions of what you're going to do. I mean, for me, it would be easy. Philanthropy would be the easiest thing, right? Because that's the first thing my brain goes to. And I bet a lot of Catholic women are like, I could help St. Jude's children with cancer. I could help fill a nation of homeless people. I could help the people in Hawaii that are still homeless from the fires. I could be people in LA that are still, you know, we could help so many people and change this world for good. And this is why we are commissioned to learn about it. And the devil wants us distracted not to. I'm sorry, that just like it's the reality and the truth. And so, you know, be aligned with God, be in prayer and with prayer women to know that He is trying to stop us from doing just that. And we get to change it right now. You're changing it right now. If you're hearing it, change one little thing right now that you're going to commit to. It doesn't have to be everything I'm saying. Let one hit your heart. Start with one because the devil wants you to be overwhelmed.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Don't be overwhelmed. Listen to this and then maybe once a month listen to it and pick another thing and another thing and another thing. And before you knew it, one of the beautiful things I'm seeing with this is he's allowing his Christian soldiers right now to change it. And you're part of it if you're hearing this.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

So I want to hear what your coach said, but I'm going to tell you that is something, gosh, God is bringing to light, even for me as I speak, because as I speak, I pray for the Holy Spirit to come through me as a conduit. And so when I hear a message profoundly like that, I heard it. I you heard me say it, but I actually heard it being said. Does that make sense?

SPEAKER_01

Amen. Yes. Yes. She says something very similar to what you said, in that again, when you have that foundation in Christ and you know who you are, you are his beloved daughter, and you are a woman of virtue, and you are practicing your faith, and God is number one, he's at the center, then that is going to be amplified. And that it's actually going to allow you to be more of who you are. And for me, one of the things I learned from I took a couple of courses with Dave Ramsey back in the day. Perfect. I love what he said that the most fun you will ever have with money is giving it away.

SPEAKER_00

Is giving it away.

SPEAKER_01

And my husband and I have been able to experience that recently. And I will tell you, that is 100% true. And I'm excited about what else he's going to be able to do when those resources just keep coming in because really that's what it's about. And as a Catholic woman, we are women of philanthropy and we do want to share. And I really do think you become a better person. You become more of who God created you to be. And when he gives you more of that resource, then you get to give it to the charities that line up with your values. It goes back to the values piece.

SPEAKER_00

It goes back to the values piece. And you want to know what else it goes back to? Receivership. Because in giving, you receive. You receive this abundant gift from God that is like no other. That kind of elation of giving it away and seeing people flourish is what is this is the gift he wants to give us. So in us giving. Like at the end of the day, yes, you know you're going to feel better, but that's not why you're doing it. But know that that is part of receivership. Because you're not going to give it away and go away angry. It's not possible. Yeah. I mean, I guess it could be, but I don't know how, honestly. And I never not want to know how. I don't want to know how that's possible because again, that is the greatest gift ever that God gives us is in knowing that we are doing his.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Yes. And using the talents again. It goes back.

SPEAKER_00

And going back to the it all ties together. And this is like really what's kept me anchored in this journey for two decades to honestly not having had the support in the beginning because my family didn't even understand what was happening and what was I doing. Right. So in their fear, they were not supportive. And you might be, I have to say this, it might be somebody out there that's in that position. That's why for me, is I'm commissioned to create an environment where people can grow and flourish and can come into what they're ready for at the time they're ready for. And if they want to grow and flourish, like we can work together, not just like doing business, but how can I, how can I help you flourish? Is something calling you in this career, but you've not found the right company, just like where I was at. And having conversations and learning and being open to what does that look like for you? Because you might be creating a whole new industry. Right. Wouldn't that be amazing if that's the mission that God put you on? And I'm going to say I'm probably talking a little bit about myself, but in reality, I am talking about someone else. And you don't have to do it alone because God is putting us together. I'm going to share one quick story.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, please.

SPEAKER_00

About the Him calling us together. So while I've been practicing my faith for myself, I was not evangelizing, right? I wasn't talking about it a lot, especially when you're business. Can't talk about it, no business here, right? We could talk sex and politics, but they don't want money in religion or whatever, right? We hear this all over the place. So as I've been growing in my relationship and, you know, in my journey, seeing a lot of people's deaths and uh friends and illnesses, experiencing my own. This is part of life journey. And what are you to take from it? Is how do I grow and support other people so that we can grow together. And so there is a book, and it's called Jesus Calling, and it's a Christian book and it's for affirmations. And that's one aspect of the Catholic faith, not the only. So I love supporting instruments because you're reading three Bible verses a day and you're getting a perspective of abundance. And then in your Catholic life, how do you connect with the Eucharist in that way? So there's that other layer of wow, God is giving us all these resources. And it's just one tool. There's so many. I mean, gosh, online, the ones that have been supportive are the Bible in a year, the catechism in a year. Now, I gotta tell you, I didn't do them in a year. I'm still working on the catechism when I'm on year three, because sometimes it takes us a while to digest things before the light bulb goes on. So again, I'm telling you, God knows we're human in our humanity. So I experienced long COVID recently. And in order for me to share my work, I got to go out and meet people. I go to networking events and I was called to go to a woman's group that was a little further than I said, I'm not gonna drive more than 30 minutes. It's 45. So I thought, and it's a beautiful drive because it's so beautiful for prayer when you see God's nature in my drive. So it was actually healing for me. So this one day I was not feeling well enough to go. And so I asked God, I'm like, okay, I know I'm not supposed to push myself, but I feel like you really want me to go to this. If you want me to go to this, like, you know, I'm having a talk with God. If you want me to go to this, please give me the energy to go. If I like when I would arrive places, sometimes I wouldn't feel strong enough to get up and walk and talk. I just sat there. So saying, okay, I don't know what he wants from me, but he wants me here. So this day I said, if you want to bring somebody to me to connect me, you're gonna have to sit them right next to me because I am too tired. And I just feel like you're just gonna have to bring that and I'm gonna trust you. And so I went to this event and we sit down, and it was really interesting. They told us, don't do politics, don't do religion. And we're at this table, and then there was this one Christian woman. They asked a question. They asked us to answer a question to everybody as like, what would you like everybody at this table to know about you that they don't know about you? And this one Christian woman started off with, I am a faith believer. And even if somebody tells me I can't talk about Jesus, I'm going to. And I thought, right? We got to love our brothers and sisters, right? All of them, no matter where they're following, where they're at, we get to love them. So she started that off. I sat down and I said, Well, I'm starting a Catholic women business group as well that I'm participating with. That's nationwide because I want to be able to talk about my faith and work because my faith is my work too. The girl next to me said pretty much the same thing. My business is my faith. I have started a Catholic business guild because I want to be able to talk about my faith and my work because God is in my everyday work. She was sitting right next to me. I got the chills. By the way, I didn't tell you there was one more component. That morning I asked St. Jude for divine intercession because I felt so weak. I said, St. Jude, please help me because I am really, really, really tired and I'm kind of scared to drive. And so I got there and I'm sitting. And so when this girl announced her thing, I said, Well, I'm knowing that we were in a different area, I said, Are you from this area? And she said, Yes. And I said, Okay, well, I'm from a different area. I said, but we can work and collaborate and support one another together in our mission together. By the way, where do you host your event? And she said, St. Jude's Hospitality Center. And I just like literally tears start coming down because if that is not an answer to prayer, I don't know what is. And if we're going to keep blocking God, we're not in receivership, receive these messages. They're not just coincidences. I've heard it as God incidences. I love that. Any other way you want to share it? And we get to be proclaiming them and saying yes to them because now we're flourishing and we're building so many business owners coming together in faith first and businesses, how our business can be almost philanthropic for other people to support them to flourish together.

SPEAKER_01

Love it.

SPEAKER_00

The new world. I'm gonna say it's a new world. We're seeing this, everybody's talking about the bad part of the new world. Well, this is the part of the new world that's going to conquer that. And it's here and it's in each one of us, and it's up to each one of us.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Well, I cannot wait to attend one of those events.

SPEAKER_02

Love it.

SPEAKER_01

And speaking of entrepreneurship, and I know I'm going through this right now because I've been slowly letting go of my full-time job. I'm now part-time. And as I'm building this coaching practice and this podcast, and one of the beliefs I'm working on is God is is my CEO. My organization that I work for is not my CEO. Like it's not a source and supply. So do you have any advice on fully believing that? And maybe that has to do with receivership as well, but just really knowing that he's the one that's providing the money. It's it can be very easy to and it's hold on.

SPEAKER_00

It's his business. It's his business. It's his business, it's not yours. Yeah. Right.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And so, yes, is it a faith walk every day? I'm going to tell say one thing about entrepreneurship and business owners, because I used to work for corporate. So first I worked for medicine and private offices, and then I went into corporate. And corporate is a whole nother world. And I'm going to say a lot of corporate is not about God unless they specifically say so.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Really?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Uh that's the reality. And found that in medicine, like to the point of people were numbers.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. And I was a technician. So it's the same thing. Numbers.

SPEAKER_00

Right. So it's about numbers. When it becomes about numbers, you're a number as an employee, they're a number. That is out of alignment. That is not loving. I can't tell you how many ways God told me to leave for 11 years. And I was scared because my husband was in a new career. We had our kids, and I knew I could count on that. I mean, it literally took me getting cancer, being sick to pull me out of that career. Don't wait for that. Listen to him. Because it was like he was hitting me. I was saying, God, you're going to have to hit me with a two by four. Don't ask for that. Because that's what I got. And I'm like, oh my gosh, I want to receive an abundance, joy, and love. But being an entrepreneur and being a business owner is the business of being in faith every day. Because it is his. And you get to surrender every day and you get to step out in faith and it's in constant conversation. He said, pray without ceasing. So all day long, whatever, when you're feeling a struggle, it's like, okay, Lord, come to me now. Lead me now. Help me see. Help me hear. You may not get the answer immediately. Trust that whatever step you do, God's got you. I mean, I know a Christian minister. So I'm always talking to people of faith, right? And his thing, his pastor, is like, he's got you. He's got you. You may not feel like it. I always think of the footprints prayer, right? Do you know the footprints prayer? No, share it, please. Oh my gosh. I wish I had it over here. But there is a prayer where you see these footprints on the sand. And so there were two sets of footprints, and then you're going through this difficult journey. And so the gist of it is that then you only see one when you were struggling in the journey. And so this person was saying, God, why'd you leave me? Why'd you abandon me? Because that's what it feels like. That's what we say. But he's carrying us through it. Because you know what? We're like a child that has to go through crying pains. What do you do? You pick them up.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You pick them up, you hold them. You may not be able to do anything about it, right? Like your child needs surgery. You're not a surgeon. But you can hold them before and after and know that God's holding them while he's going through it. And so that is receiver, let him hold you. So it is the epitome of receivership.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. And trust and surrender.

SPEAKER_00

And trust and surrender. The most challenging parts of our faith where we could waver. And this is one thing I'm going to tell you. When I would see wealthy people that were good wealthy people, they had attained the skill, the practice, I'm going to call it, of unwavering faith. And many lived homeless. They lived on the streets, they lived on their cars, and they trusted and kept their faith. They didn't let it go. They didn't get led awry because of what a priest did wrong. They didn't get led astray. They focused on our one true creator because everybody on this earth is inhumanity, including priests. So stop looking at your priests to tell you. Go listen for the Holy Spirit's whisper of what I bring a book with me. And if I don't have my book, I don't like opening up my phone in church. But if there's something really strong and I forgot my little notebook, I'm going to document it. Why? Because there's a neuroscientific piece to that. You are actually not only connecting with what God gave you, but you are neuroscientifically brain to written word connection. And that is a commitment and a contract.

SPEAKER_02

Right?

SPEAKER_00

Contracts, enforceable ones, are in writing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So this is another way of learning and committing to that. Is it easy? No. Look at if we did everything easy, you see how children who are spared the rod they're not disciplined.

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_00

They don't learn. And we have a whole society that is mentally and emotionally weakened because we have created that because we don't want people to experience pain. But sometimes pain is the best growth factor if it is not life-threatening, right? I'm not saying don't do anything, but don't do everything either. Because you are not God. You are not meant to do that. You're meant to participate and support. And possibly, possibly, for those of you who are wondering if you're the leader out there, if you're wondering it, you already know your answer. Now are you gonna receive that? And we need more leaders in this world of faith. And that is a part of putting what God's putting together and having us come together.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, He has a beautiful plan.

SPEAKER_00

He knows it's divine. Don't let doubt, distraction, come in the way. And when they do, reach out to one of your faith accountability partners. Find one. And I'll respectably say, don't make it somebody in your house.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I agree. Well, that's what's so beautiful about the Catholic faith is that we want to support each other. We want to be there for one another. And we have those philanthropic hearts. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because if you go to somebody that's outside of it, it it might be leading you to more distraction versus getting to the destiny of the divine.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's important the five people you surround yourself with should be people that have similar values to you. So that yes in those times where you doubt or you say this isn't working or I want to quit, you can turn to those people. Those people have been invaluable in my life.

SPEAKER_00

So absolutely. Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

I was gonna say I love to ask this question to all my guests, and I want to preface it in reference to wealth. The name of my ministry is Living Whole and Holy. And I would love to know what it means to you, Rita. What does it mean to live whole and holy when it comes to wealth?

SPEAKER_00

When it comes to wealth, whole and holy is being in gratitude and thankfulness for what the Lord has given us, first and foremost. Being connected with him in our values, being clear on our values, and knowing that he is first in love for them. Being open to the receivership of growth, though that we're going to be going through challenges in our life, and then keeping our focus on him and the presence of the Holy Spirit always, and praying for our guardian angels to guide us and any of the angels and saints that are your guides. And then comes the learning and allow the learning, be in receivorship, how fast, how slow, whatever it may be. Ask empowering questions of the Lord of what would you like me to see here, Lord? Which direction would you like me to go? But let go of the control and the reins and surrender and create that positioning, that that God, I'm a GPS God positioning system, right? Lead you on your financial positioning system, FPS, and connect it in your mind and heart first. Anchor it here to heart then to head. Right. And then make your wisest decision with good counsel. That would be the holistic picture. Beautiful.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I love it. And I love all your acronyms. And that's helping me to remember.

SPEAKER_00

Yay. That's how I look at I got to learn. I told God I needed to learn it like I was in third or fourth grade, like grade school learning. And yeah, we can break it down. It's usually between third to sixth grade level learning. Because do you guess what? It's just a lesson to be learned. It's a language. When we know the language of our faith, we're strong in it. God's word. When we know the language of money, we are anchored and strengthened in it too. And it gets to be super simple. I'm gonna leave like this little simple, how simple it is. Money math. We've all been taught money math. You're gonna go, no, I didn't. Yes, you did. It's addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. You just were not told that. Money math is not that hard. Later on, it can get into decimal points and percentages, but the essence is the simplicity. And when you anchor in that and you open up to receiving that, it's to be really, really easy. Just practice.

SPEAKER_01

Love it. Well, Rita, no pun intended. This was a very rich conversation. Right. You were just so full of wisdom, so full of fire for the faith and passion. And I just really appreciate everything that you shared. And I'm excited after talking to you to learn more. So if anyone wants to find you on the internet, find your courses, please share that. I'll include everything in the show notes. But if there's anything specifically you want to mention, go ahead and share it.

SPEAKER_00

I I think that the main my website is achievefinancialaspirations.com, achievefinancialaspirations dot com. You can go there to see what I'm up to and what I'm creating to change how wealth is done generationally starting now. So we won't say there's no more money education. It's here. And LinkedIn, I'm on LinkedIn with my name Rita Bokuzzi, and there's two C's and two Z in my last name. So B-O-C-C-U-Z-Z-I. Usually if you search it, you should be able to find me. And I'm on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook right now. So those are my top ones. And I host free workshops. So if you go on my website and you click the events page remember about having a Monday date. I have a monthly, well a money date I have a Monday, the first Monday of the month is our money date for a complimentary session of learning, mostly some skill sets that we don't know. And I do it once a month because it requires repetition over and over again till we anchor and learn it. So that's something that your guests I would love for them to be invited to and know that there's I always say there's no pressure, there's no spamming because I know how that feels and we get to come to a space where somebody is holding that space and grace for you to be in receivership without all the stuff coming at you.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. And then your networking event for women ah my Catholic women in business.

SPEAKER_00

So I am doing that I'm in the Los Angeles County area right now. And so we're looking at collaborating to expanding it but it is a nationwide group. It is actually not mine. The Lord sent it to me divinely and so it's nationwide. So look up Catholic women in business and see if they have one near you. And if they don't and you're being called to leadership might be that you're being called there amazing. And start it with somebody if you don't want to do it alone find a friend to do it with. Never have to do it alone. I mean we're always doing it with God but sometimes it's fun to do it with somebody and I believe they also have an online version. I haven't done that that just yet but so there's so many possibilities. We have a God of everything is possible.
