Hello, Manny. Thank you for being a part of our podcast today. Uh, I got a few questions I'd like to ask you if you don't mind. Two, go ahead. Okay. Well, first one is gonna be a background question for you. I'm wondering when did you become a model car builder?

I'm 42 now, and I started with model cars when I was maybe maybe between 10 and 11. I started building model cars.

All right. I think that's kind of like a sweet spot, right?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then life, you know, made a girlfriend, took a break from that somewhere in high school. And no, I I'm lying to you, after high school. Must have been like a year or two after high school took a break, had life, kids, and all that, and now I come back into the hobby and um picking up where I left off.

Awesome, man. I love hearing the fact that people have, you know, started when they were a kid and then they took a break, explored the things that life can can offer you, and then came back to the hobby anyway. You know, I love that fact. Yeah, that's right.

You know, kids, family, relationships, it takes you away from something that you enjoy. And you know, this is very time consuming. You guys should know you're you're part of it. Talking about going from building to to the life, uh, our good Fred friend Fred Henry, I believe he says it best. You start out doing it and then you catch the fumes, gas fumes, and perfumes. And after that, you get when you get all done with that, you come back to it.

Yep. What uh what what what subject model do you enjoy building it? Just cars.

So yeah, well, I do like I I enjoy cars a lot. Uh I admire tanks when the military stuff. I trip out on the weathering. Like when you see the uh uh the the amount of skill when it comes to weathering on a technical side, because I'm a I'm a painter, I'm an automotive painter. So I look at that stuff, I'm like, wow, the mud look so real, and the right sheen and the right gloss on everything, it's awesome. I don't build it. My my son Manny Jr. likes it, but he doesn't really commit to it. Like, you know, it's not his thing. And my other son loves Gundam, like, like you can't imagine. I bought a kit and I'm gonna do an entry-level kit, and I'm gonna scribe it, do all the stuff that I know how to do and paint it, candy paint it, and then and weather it out. And I stare at it, but I don't even know where because at least a car, I can stare at a body and I can envision the colors, the scheme. Like, I already know, but these robots, they're like a thousand little clips on on a tree, and I'm like, okay, I can't picture it, you know what I'm saying? But I enjoy cars, cars is main my main subject.

Right on. That's actually why I can't get into Gundam because I feel like I need to know about it. And while I think they're cool AF, I can't get into it. Yeah, yeah, because I don't know it.

I watch it, they're entertaining to watch. I've been watching some of the stuff on my son. I'm like, okay, okay, I'm I got you, but uh, I don't know, I'll give it another spin. I told my son, if you build it and give me the parts that I tell you to give me after you build it because they snap on, there's no glue, I'll paint them, scribe it, and then let him do the assembling. But I don't know, I'm trying to do that so I can kind of like have that really cool father and bunk.

Trying to trying to do it while I still can because eventually they get too big, too old, and then they're on to the next break, and it's like yeah, yeah, well, yeah, then then they find the fumes.

Within the car genre, is there anything specific that you enjoy more than anything else? Like, you know, import cars, lowrider trucks, you know, drag cars, NASCAR. I mean, there's so much.

SPEAKER_09 6:03

There is a lot. So in genre, right now I go through phases, right? So right now, even in my personal taste, I like customs. So it can be what I'm currently working on a 61 Galaxy custom. I used to, when I was a kid, I used to do a lot of low riders. And obviously, a lot of my marketing, my business is in the low rider community. I can really appreciate them, but I just like more of the customs, bubble topures, like the futuristic concept cars right now. And then from there, the next thing I'm gonna end up building is a couple bombs, like 1930s, 1940 kits, traditional, a little bit more traditional, solid colors, but just really clean. But I like everything, to be honest with you. NASCAR would be the least of my favorite. Now, funny cars. If I have a couple of vintage funny car kits, those I love because those I can kind of give it that 70 style custom paint job that funny car was had in that era. Yeah, yeah. But NASCAR is the only one, even though I was a kid, and they're fun. And some stuff uh that blew my mind in a way. Uh the when they cut the part, the guy it sucks, his model got broken, like uh, I believe in a ward fell on it. But he cut, he had it was a tied NASCAR and he had it cut in half, and he was showing, and I was like, holy shit, the amount of detail. Sorry about that, but the amount of detail was insane on that kit, you know. And I was like, That's how you do it. But customs, right now, I'm doing customs, but kind of the style I got.

I was 10 feet away from that kit when that happened, and it was oh, it was devastating.

I was there for that too. I was in I was in the room, but I I didn't know that it happened until like the next day.

The next day I found out and they said they child that book table, and I was like, and then wow and I was so bummed out because I couldn't imagine how that felt with all that work just onto crap, you know, and we put a lot of work, there's a lot of reasons without going into too much detail and putting the guy's business out there.

That was a commission build. He had been paid to build that and spent all that time and it took it to the show, and then that happened. That was it gets worse. It does, yeah. That was that was sad.

That sucks, bro. But that's life, you know. There's worse no, I was gonna say there's worser things than life, you know. At least it was just a model, but it still sucked.

Because we can sympathize, we all know what it's like to put a lot of time and effort into something, and then to have your most favorite build get destroyed by happenstance is definitely a heartbreaking situation. Manny, how how has it been for you being in such a large community, the the model car world now? How's that been for you? Been meeting a lot of folks and getting out there?

SPEAKER_09 8:48

I have. Yeah, I have, man. It's it's uh I kind of fell into it to be honest with you, because I went to and I talked to I told this story to Mike. I went to NNL East because that was on my bucket list, my personal bucket list. Because I travel all over the country for for the big the actual cars, the one-to-one, because there's a lot of there were some people like, oh you know, you're a model car paint company. I've never heard of you guys. I go, No, we're not. We actually just manufacture automotive paint, that's our big market share. And then the model car is just a small a small portion of our business. So one of the things I've always wanted to go was NL East. And I went there and I'm walking around, and it wasn't until people sort of stopped me and say, Oh, you're Manny. I had two or three people who recognize me by face, I didn't know who they were. Like, hey, look, let me show you my model cars with your paint. I said, All right, cool. And then it was surprising. I didn't really feel I was gonna get recognized, especially in a market that we don't advertise at all, we don't market like all my businesses in California, not in New Jersey, and it became a snowball effect. And I live on Instagram, and now I obviously are on Facebook, and I didn't realize that we had such an impact in the community because I went as a hobbyist, you know. I said, I really want to check this out. I know these are the badass models, and then later I went to Acme, you know, and I realized there was a huge community out there, and then some people just came up to me and started talking to me. I'm like, this is awesome. And I, you know, I told my son, I go, Well, this is my son's like, Dad, I want to go home. Like, I'm tired already, wanted to go eat. But I'm like, Danny, I don't this is kind of mind blowing because I never thought I had this uh market. I didn't think that I had all this some support because I knew that there's companies that just market it to that market, and that's all they did. And all I did was get the same paint I make for cars in a little bottle. Put a marble, make sure it had the right reducer, and go to town. So it's actually pretty awesome. I met a lot of people very quickly and and created awesome friendships with people, and it's all within what I like too. I think that's also easy for me because there's I think people there's people not in this market, but just in general, that just make get in the market just for profits, and they're not really part of it. So I've had people ask me, like, you have ex like you've excelled very well in what you do in the last 10 years. I go, yeah, but I I actually love cars. Like I know my shit, I travel quite a bit, and when I'm in town for car shows, I go out of my way and go to different car museums with my buddy. So I go, I feel that one of the reasons I excel is because I apply myself because I'm part of the community. So it's easy, like the the Marco, the model car stuff. I had some guys says, Hey Manny, uh Ivan, no, no, it's not Ivan. What's his name? Irvin, Irvin Jr. I can't think of his last name. Yeah.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Irv goes, Manny, can you make a copy of rubber paint from test uh to mea makes rubber, black rubber tire paint or something like that? I'm like, Yeah, why not? So I went and I bought it at my local hobby store and I said, I'll copy it. He goes, Because I buy it on Amazon and it's a fortune and it's hard to get at hobby stores. I go, dude, give me give me a week and I'll make it. He was right. I went to order on on Amazon, it was like $15 for a little tester bottle. Uh not tester, is uh to me, I'm sorry. Yeah, like a 10 milliliter one. Yeah, and then I went to the hobby store and by me and they had it and I bought it, but I like this. And I also obviously I have a bunch of wheels, resin wheels, that I have to paint, do the same thing. So I think the fact that I'm also I I enjoy this a lot, it's easy for me to understand some of the struggles you guys go with because I'm also in the same boat. Gotcha. I don't know if that makes sense. That super long explanation, absolutely, yeah.

I I can tell you from experience that rubber black color is a hard color to keep on the shelves at the store because that is uh that's a great color for tires. I mean, to me, it says it all right there, you know.

Just about everybody has a has a version of it though.

Why so my question to you guys what is your favorite though? Is it to me? Is it someone else's?

SPEAKER_03 13:04

Like, you know, um, I honestly I don't have a favorite. Uh I've got some AK, I've got some uh from the MiG Atom line, uh, which is similar similar to the MiG Cobra line. Uh and they all have their, you know, they're all pretty similar. You know, they're not exactly the same. Like I could I could go and uh paint a whole bunch of spoons up. Uh and you could see the color difference, but you know, they're all they all kind of, you know, they're all they're all rubber black. You know, I actually have an AK rubber black marker that I can uh uh that one of their paint markers is rubber black, and it's fantastic for doing, you know, when you're trying to get right up against the wheel and not not get the paint onto the wheel itself. It's phenomenal for that.

Yeah. So I I use that marker for around uh the window trim when you get the rubber seals around window trim. Perfect for that.

The the Tamiya acrylic rubber black and the tamiya lacquer rubber black. I like the acrylic better. I think it looks more of a natural black than the lacquer. The lacquer looks a little bit more gray, where the acrylic looks a little bit, it's got a little bit more of a brown tint to it. It just seems it just seems more accurate. You know, I've I've I've primed tires with just the Mr. Surfacer, the black, you know, the 1500. I'm like, that looks really good just with that, you know. But then you put the rubber black over it, it does make a big difference as far as you're like really shit.

Yeah. But I think it's uh it's one of those subjective things, you know. We all kind of see it a little bit differently. We we we kind of strive for a rubber black color, but when you go to a car show, you got tires that are you know just dredged out and uh tire shine, you know. So, you know, what do we what do we use to kind of duplicate what that looks like?

Like glaze donuts, yeah.

Yeah, I'll take a rubber and vinyl tire if the kit comes of those, and I use the old school uh testers dull coat on that just to dull it down so it doesn't, it's not shiny and fake looking, you know, it makes it look kind of more realistic to what a rubber tire is. So again, it's all kind of subjective, I think, to how you look at it. But to me, it stuff's good stuff. I can get it locally. I use that, I haven't really used anything else, but I would say if you came out with one that was comparable, that would be a big hit.

So yeah, yeah. And I ask you this question because it it makes me think like I think about tires, you got different stages of tires. You got the bright, shiny tires are covered in armor. How about an older tire? You know, it's not black, it's already black, blue gray because it's faded from the sun. There's a lot of different shades of stuff, especially, you know, I did commercial tires for a living for for crap, like nine years of my life, ten years. Um, but it's like little things like that that I he I ask because I kind of want to know what you guys want because I don't know. I'm I'm a candy and pain and pearls, but when someone goes, Oh man, I really need a really great aluminum color, and you know, I buy from Alclad, but it's a mission and it's lack or I want something different. I'm like, all right, cool. And I kind of go down that that line, you know. Uh I got a bunch good example. Look, this is panel liner, water-based panel liner. By the way, really, really great stuff. I'm really happy with it. And my son's like, Oh, yes, water-based, because we have this, and we have the Tomia. Tamiya is an alcohol-based uh enamel. I think that that's yeah, theirs is an enamel, yeah. Because I'm thinking of their paint because they have an enamel line and a and an alcohol-based line that's water-based, yeah. Yeah, but my son's like, Oh, what do you make a panel liner? Like, but why? I already this is pretty good and I like it. So there's things that there's some stuff that I'll make and some stuff I won't because there's no if it's already in the market, doesn't need to like why have so many options? It it creates like confusion sometimes, and then the modeler doesn't know what to do. That's my opinion for certain stuff, like you know, if you if someone's a thing here, I need to yeah, if you love my paint line and you like to use what I I make, then I don't have a problem in offering other colors, but it's in the same family.

So, what if you did um like a rubber black, like you know, like a like a standard rubber like kind of like what Tamiya has, their XF85. Um, just showing off by knowing that number, but um, but you also did like uh uh a shiny version, like like somebody had just armor all their tires, you know.

A semi-gloss black because it's just it's just doesn't look right, you know. Yeah, that'd be an interesting, interesting thing to to think about. I have or an A. I have a purple office, huh?

Yeah, an age rubber, an age rubber, an age rubber is cool because it's kind of chalky, grayish. I guess you can tell. And I think there's a lot of guys that do those. Uh yeah, I think it's a great idea. There's some guys that do these abandoned cars that look great, and I I'm open for everything, to be honest with you. A lot of stuff, what you referenced to the glazed, the glaze is something I can do with a 1k acrylic clear and then add a mattering agent into it, and then I can control the sheen so I can say here's a uh shiny tire, here's a worn-out faded tire. And all you do is you you paint the same color and you just apply it by brush, airbrush, or if you want it in a spray can, you can do it in a spray can too. Because these are the spray cans we're coming out with.

Yeah, they do rattle cans, they do rattle cans, yeah. And then so he's got the small ones, all right. I know we're last time we talked, man, and you were getting them, hadn't got them, so but now you got the smoke cans.

Fantastic. I'll give you an idea. We do a little bit over six thousand spray cans a month, is what we we uh we sell, so we manufacture, I don't know, eight or nine because we also keep a lot of stuff in stock and some stuff we export. This was brought up to my attention in New Jersey. So obviously, this is a podcast, so people can't hear what they can't see what I'm doing. I'm holding my hand a five-ounce, 150 milliliter little aerosol can. And someone in NL East told me, Why do you not sell smaller spray cans? Because your spray cans, I think our spray cans are like $25-30 a spray can. And they're like, Man, I'm disabled, I have a limited budget, you have great colors, but that one can I can paint so many cars, and it's just too much paint for me.

Yeah, and I told them they'll use the same excuse for talking about Rust Oleum. Jason slaps his head.

And I told them, I go, Look, you know what's the problem? Okay, this little can cost me the same, actually cost me 10 cents more to get manufactured than the big can. So I told them, Yeah, these are yeah, they cost a uh 10 cents more to manufacture. And I said it just doesn't make sense for me. But when I went home and started thinking about it, I'm like, well, how much paint am I putting in it? This and that. And I looked at it, I'm like, you know what, this is gonna help out. We make the less gross profit by sure, but I think there's gonna be a market that this is gonna help out a lot of people, yeah, that don't have access to my product because they feel like it's too out of their price point or their own limited budget. And I can obviously I think I can afford to to I can afford to sell this if to be honest with you, because we're what we do in the automotive side blows it out of the water, you know, compared to what we do. We do very well with the hobbies. Uh, I mean, I talked to Mike and uh on a monthly thing, we sell I think it was like four no, it was 800 of the four-ounce RTSs a month, and I think the two ounce sells more. So in a month, I think it was like 1200 to like 900. So you know it's ever ever since we introduced that, and then we're now gonna introduce a one-ounce uh RTS. I don't have the I don't have them here, but the one ounce is gonna carry this name, the scale down the division of just model paint, you know, for the audience.

I really see that scale-down line taking off for you, especially those rattle cans. I feel like those will really do you good. Uh, because a lot of guys don't have an airbrusher, don't want to mess with the whole process of airbrushing. And I mean, Jason does both, but I'm sure if you asked him, he prefers a rattle can because it's just so much easier, right? There's less cleanup, there's less work, and and if you get one that lays down, like I know your product lays down, then I'm I'm sure they're gonna do very well for you. I'm excited to get some myself.

There's a lot of look, good example for the uh this there's a lot of stuff I hit with an air with a spray can just because it's convenient, and some like the body I'll paint with with with a gun or an airbrush, but there's some stuff that I'm like, I'm not gonna paint in a pink gun to paint it out, just grab a can, spray it, and call it a day. So it there's a little bit of everything for everybody. I think it'll do very well. And then we also included QR codes, all our products leave with a QR code that you scan, takes you straight to YouTube to a how-to video. So any of the you know basic questions are asked.

Your um your slight hit to your gross profit, I think, will be balanced out with the the quantity of sales that you may get.

I have a question regarding those small cans. Do you have a projected date for release yet?

All right. So we're currently purchasing the building that we're in, right? And we have closing next week. So next week we acquire 30,000 square feet building that's owned by us. By that, by acquiring that, we're also taking over. So we're taking over another unit. We have a tenant that has half of the building that's 15,000. We're acquiring another 5,000. I'm waiting for that transition. We're going to be remodeling the building, doing a lot of stuff. So I'm hoping by the end of this year, the last quarter of this year, or the beginning quarter of next year, we have it. So I'm hoping to have this launched November, December, or January, February. Those are the that window that I have idea because we have Grand National Roaster Show, and that's a really big event for us that we set up a display. So but I think around that space, it's going to be really easy for us to uh to make all the colors, have everything on the shelf and launch.

The last weekend of January. So it would be the weekend of January the 28th. So it's a third. No, it's a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday show. That's where like if if you want to meet Chip Foos and all these uh car builders, that's where they award the most beautiful hot rod in the country. So it's a it's a very, very good show to go.

Real quick, Manny. I know we talked about it uh a couple times, and we talked about it when we had you on the Sunday live. But the real question we talked about, you know, rubber black, we've talked about your rattle cans, all that are great. But what this hobby needs, in my opinion, as far as paint goes, is a affordable quality chrome that you can touch and doesn't come off with your finger. What are the chances that Tropical Glits are gonna come up with something like that?

Good question. So we have we've had something, it's called vaporized aluminum, and we have something. Uh my biggest hang up is I gave up that project to work on making the candy line that we have, right? Because I have a guy that works with me and says, Yeah, we gotta do bait, we gotta do chrome, chrome, chrome, chrome. And he showed me chrome, and I go, Yeah, chrome is how they make mirrors, it's mirrors made by silver nitrate. And the whole nine years, I go, You don't want that because it tarnishes and it has real silver, so that's not price competitive. Yeah, well, because it's it goes by the market, so wherever precious metals at, it's gonna so they I do have something, and it's pretty very similar to what's out there now. And I tell people there's a company in on Amazon that sells it, it's similar, I can make it way better, but you have to clear coat it with the water-based clear that I'm gonna provide because the moment you do anything over it that's solvent, it reactivates all the aluminum particles and it shifts them around and it turns into like a doll gray.

Okay, all right, yeah. So the one that everybody they're not talking about anymore, but a couple of months ago, everybody was going crazy for it on the forms. I'm like, all right, that's very similar to what we're making. And what it is is called VMP, and it's just a vaporized aluminum, and it's the way it's processed and manufactured, and you can't really add it to any resins because the resins screw up the way they orientate and lay. So you have to add it to a wet solvent. So when you spray this stuff on, it's like you're spraying you're not even spraying water, it seems like you're spraying alcohol because alcohol has no body. Like if you compare the density of water and alcohol, there's more tension in water than alcohol. So you're like spraying like pure solvent, but the orientations of all the aluminum lays down and it looks perfect. The reflection is great.

There is a new product that Coast Airbrush has been uh uh releasing videos on. Um, I don't know what the price point is, but it does look like it's going to be a bulletproof chrome.

It's a fortune, bro. I went on so that so it's called Happy Paint, whatever. They there's a company, they don't manufacture it. They found there's a company in Japan that makes that stuff, right? I know who's a man, the manufacturer, the price point. I never looked into that because it was not competitive at all. I was like, dude, right, you what you guys are asking for. So if you go on coastas airbrush, yeah, I'm not knocking coast. I know Dave personally, yeah. You go on Coastas Airbrush, shoot, what was the price? It was like I think a pint kit or a quart kit was like sixteen hundred dollars. Holy Moses! I and it sucks because I'm on the phone, so I can't verify it. But if any of you guys have access to the computer, I saw something like sixteen hundred dollars for a quart. There's 32 ounces in a quart. I was like, Jesus Christ, so how much is it per ounce? So it wasn't something that I felt now. I think there's the guys that can't afford to chrome carp, uh their chrome their their pop metal, right? I asked uh advanced plating out of Tennessee to chrome plate re-chrome my pop, the pop metal I have on my Pontiac, and they told me $4,200 for a little. So I think that market someone will spend sixteen hundred dollars, but I don't think it's gonna roll into this hobby, into this space.

Um, Mike, I have something, you know, and I think it's really affordable because it really does. I don't I don't believe it costs a lot to make, to be honest with you. And then these are companies that I go to different chemical shows and I work with them and I try to cut out all these brokers. There's a lot of brokers that sometimes they're here in the states, sometimes they're they're a rep agency and they're making 20, 30 points, sometimes 50 points on top of what you're buying it for. So, what's the point? So, I'd rather just go to South America, go to the Mexican chemical show, the one in Indiana. If I have to go to Germany, I'll do it because that's how you end up buying directly, and it saves a big difference. And you can sit down and say, Hey, look, I'm gonna buy a hundred kilograms of this from you. What's your best price? And then that changes the whole the whole game. Right, there's no briefcases with handcuffs, and you know, you gotta buy smart. Um I tell people you I mean, I tell my kids you gotta buy smart, and if you're gonna buy in book, and we we don't have debt, we don't take loans, everything we pay cash up front. We don't say, Oh, give me 30-day chart. No, no, I'm gonna buy it from you. What's your best price? I'm paying cash, and that's how we also been able to scale, you know, and be competitive with a lot of stuff we do.

My uh, my my brother had a friend that used to uh when they were in the military together, and he became um private security guy for people that were buying diamonds, and uh he had a lot of stories about going into places like in South America and stuff just to buy uh precious gems. So, Manny, all the paint that you produce, is it uh lacquer-based, urethane-based? What is it? Your uh what is it that you're putting out?

Polyurethane. Yeah, it's a urethane. The biggest thing it's it's in a polyurethane because there's acrylic urethane that's very popular. Without getting technical, there's like four or five different urethane, but we we do a polyurethane, it's very easy to stack and re and re-melt into each other, so it kind of behaves like a lacquer, you know how because a lacquer, when you spray it, it will reactivate and soften itself and become one layer, so it's really good on millage and delamination is not gonna happen with you on this as long as well the RTS has already had the reducer in it, so you don't really have to worry about that. So, but yeah, it's a polyurethane automotive uh paint, and it accepts uh 2k, obviously.

But what about just regular 1k lacquer-based clear?

You can do you know, I'm not sure about lacquer clear. I think lacquer, what was the rule of thumb? You can always put lacquer on enamel, but you can't put enamel. Uh no, you can always put enamel on lacquer, but you can never put lacquer on enamel because it'll say yeah, so you can spray 1k clear on it, you can spray acrylic clear on it. Uh you know, lacquer on the colour.

I do have to say I I have successfully used um Mr. Super Clear UV cut over your uh over your paint with no ill effect.

Yeah, that's what I was gonna say. I don't think there's enough solvents to kick because anyways, yeah, okay, it's not hot enough. And if you're like ah, lacquer, I go, bro, lacquer's not really hot enough to reactivate polyurethane base coat because lacquer is just lacquer, it has maybe acetone, and acetone's not hot enough. You know, if you tell me M E K, if you tell me M-I-B-K, E M K.

If you're using extra fin to thin your paint, you might have some problems.

I mean, as you start to uh as you start to kind of roll down that road of becoming more of a player in the hobby, it's good to understand that because you're gonna have people out there fucking rustolium clear coat over that thing, you know. And if they don't have a good day, it's gonna be your problem.

So yeah, no, so we get calls. Rustolium, you can spray Rustolium clear over it, you might not get that really nice effect. But I tell guys, don't spray my stuff over Rustolium stuff, and then like I wrinkled that go, yeah, bro. You can't spray it over a five-dollar primer and expect a two hundred thousand dollar you know outcome. It just don't, you're not doing anybody favor, right?

I guess when I get stressed out telling you because it's like I I we hear that a lot, and then even in people trying to do stuff on their motorcycles, like I went and I bought this primer like, no, bro, that's not the right primer. No, but it I you know, I didn't want to buy your prime. I was like, now you have a problem because you went with a five-dollar primer. Expensive. I sent it to you because it costs and it works, you know. Now I got all I have all my frames. Sorry.

That's that's right. My my philosophy with with uh primers and clear coats are to keep it in the family so that you know that everything's formulated to work together with each other, so you're not gonna have some sort of you have experience. I have experience.

But uh just you know, food for thought. That might be something that you could consider.

Welcome back, folks. Thanks for sticking around to that little spot there. We are talking with Manny from Tropical Glitz, and he is giving us a lowdown on what's going on with him and his company. I can sympathize with purchasing a 30,000 square foot building because my boss did that last year and we're reaping the benefits of that still, and that's gotta be a nail-biting situation. Um, so is that gonna be more mainly for like your your automotive stuff, or is that gonna be for your your paint warehouse?

So we've been in this building for three years. Right. And we we occupy 10,000 square feet. So now we're gonna occupy another five. But that whole building is for us for to expand in manufacturing. Okay. There's a part of it that's gonna be set up just for the hobby for the the modeling community. But we have equipment that we're scaling from the 55 gallon batches that we're making of paint. We're gonna start making 150 batches, 150 gallon batches. And then I bought a conveyor system. So right now, you know, we fill a lot of these bottles by hand, or I have a little machine that does it like semi-automatic. We bought a fully automatic machine that will do I think it was like 132 bottles in 20 minutes. And it's just filling the bottle, putting the cap on it, twisting it, and then running it to the thermal seal to seal that little aluminum, you know, that little foil that we have on the on the bottom.

So it's a little bit of everything, if that makes sense. But our main business is still automotive. So that's kind of where we have, and for us to scale up our our manufacturing and to buy more in both. We have I was telling Mike, these little cans we got. I have 42 pallets of aerosol cans coming from Germany, empty cans coming from Germany the second, I think it's the first or second week of September. So we also need the space for the amount of product that we're coming in and moving.

Right, okay. I didn't think of that product on here, because you you you have to put it in something and then it has to sit sit around until you're able to use it, so that makes total sense.

And six thousand cans a month is is now during our slow season. Summer is a very slow season for us. Really? Yeah, it's a very slow season. Now we start ramping up, business ramps up and picks up uh like winter months, because that's where the majority of people in the country bring their cars in, fix them up and enjoy them.

I'm working on uh uh a 61 Ford Galaxy and then this one I cut a convertible. I didn't put a boot because I don't like the boot, so I just ended up making a simple out of styling, just a simple finishing for the Chrome. And then this was one of the this was an AMT styling kit. So three and one. Okay. So I kind of looked at some of the options it came with. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a little bit more custom. And then that's what I've been working on. The other stuff I did recently. I'm really hard to get this because I I only work here a couple hours a week sometimes, if I any, depending on the on the workload from work. Um, the last two other projects I did was one was a Jimmy Flintstone resin body, a little shorty C10, like us uh not C10, it was a little shorty suburban, Tudor Suburban. Yep, yeah, and a green Lincoln station wagon. Oh Lincoln Continental that you can it's either build it as a Lincoln Continental convertible or build it as a station wagon, as a concept. Yeah, so I built a cool kit, yeah, yeah. And then I got this one. I want to wrap this up because this is gonna go on acne, and then I I have a custom display. So I usually like to put my models on, like I'll show you guys. I'll make a a panel, you know, just these are panels that I make at work and will custom paint it for people how to do. So this eventually is gonna have a model car on it, and that's what I've been doing at shows just because I do a video, and I think it's nice to have a model car, so it's almost like a carpet, it mimics the idea of a carpet at a car show. Right, right, right, yeah, yeah. So for this one, and I audience can't see. So I got two circles and some stars, and these stars are more like uh the atomic style 1960 stars.

Offset with a car on display and the stars, and then this will be painted flaked out with pearls and custom painting, and the car will be here like on the display. Almost like if you went to a concept.

Yeah, exactly. Imagine this being on display. So when you look at it, you're like, Oh, wow, this is like so it's the same thing, like what I see in the real cars that Grand National people do different displays. I kind of want to do something like that because I I enjoy painting this, and it's nice to kind of give everything like a whole vibe to it, if that makes sense.

Very similar to the uh this is like the current the car modelers version of the armor model is creating a scenic base for their tanks.

Yeah, yep, yep, that's a good pretty cool that is a that's exactly exactly it. It it kind of ties the whole the whole thing together, yeah. And I dig it.

Yeah, something different. So I'm wondering what's your preferred type of clear coats to be using.

For me, I I like automotive clear, man. Like, yeah, you can bulletproof too. Yeah, this is a 2K clear. This is a SPI production clear. This one was cool. This one, this is a dash. I know uh the audience can't see, so the little dash looks like a 2K because it's really shiny. That's actually a 1k acrylic that I make in-house. And I've been struggling with this for a while. Yeah, I've been struggling with this for a while because I wanted something really shiny, so you had a really high DOI depth of image. So this one came out great. It pinched a little bit, but what I'm gonna end up doing is most probably just scuffing it up with a maroon scotch pad and giving it another coat. I think the base was still kind of um not wet, but it was still evaporating the solvents, and then when I started in the clear, I ended up getting a little bit of a pinch. But it's super shiny. It's I don't know if you guys can see it. Yeah, it's picking up a gloss on there. Yeah, well, I think I have it on Facebook, but it's super shiny for a 1k acrylic, and that was something I was trying to work on because acrylics look good, and then they start like dying back a little bit. And some guys are cool with that single stage look, but I wanted that really wet, and you look at it, it looks like it's wet armor all type of look.

So but yeah, uh, this is kind of what I'm working on now.

I'm familiar with that wet armor all look. My uncle used to armor all the bench seat in his pickup truck, and you know, back in the day we didn't have seat belts. So when he made a turn, I slid over next to him and it slid over to the door.

Yeah, so I have this this 61 Galaxy. The next cars that I'm building, where are they? Hold on. I got them here. It's a Chip Fu 60, I think it's a 65 Impala. That was that he did the imposter. I think that was built on a Corvette frame, something. Yeah, oh and I'm building a Pontiac Catalina. There you go. I was drawing a blank, and I put so the Catalina's a custom, so we're gonna do seductive violet. Uh obviously, you can't, you know, this is a candy portion and the pearls are down here. Beautiful, and then this is for my wife's interior because she wants like it's a it's we're gonna build hers like a hot rod because she wants to paint the model and and for me to teach her, so it's alright. And then I'm gonna do this same color, seductive violet, with this color as an interior, because that kit kind of gives you the option of that bubble. They're not bubble with it, yeah. They're like uh it's like uh it's not a pill, I can't think of the name of it, but they're very tight little bubbles, little cubes, you know, it's very 60 style. So I want like do I do white? And then I said, Oh, maybe I'll do white with this. So if this if I spray this and it's too purple or too pink, I'll add, I'll make a bottle of white and then add a little bit of this to kind of give me more of a whitewashed, pinkish interior. Because I think that'll look great with the contrast of this. These colors so the seductive violet is it would be it would look like candy violet, and then these two colors, even this one, there's no pearls. I wanted a solid solid color, yeah. And then I'll I'll control the interior with me, you know, accents, just like this one. You know, this the this one we did if obviously podcast we did float or grown, and this is on the Lucas on that Lucas page where all the modelers are at. Floater grown with some candy fades, and then a little bit of gold rope string as piping. Oh nice, and um and no clear, just the the base coat itself has a nice sheen to it that you don't really need to put it, it kind of has that vinyl sheen to it, so it worked out really good.

Yeah, I built a uh 56 nomad red with flames, and um that's got PPG DBC on it, and I just left the interior based. That's got just a really nice vinyl leather look to it.

It's it's uh no, it's from my uh personal stash. So I've been I do I've been doing the Kara a very, very long time, and I had that cord up, I had a pint of Victory Red I bought for a silver auto I had at the time. I was gonna paint the grill and do some stuff and never did. And I paid the long dollar for that, and that was a number of years ago. It was just sitting. I was like, this nomad would look really good, this bright red. So and uh I painted the interior the same color and just left it in base and looked really nice. I'm big on sheens and finishes, you know.

And uh it's it's it's important. Look at hot rods, they'll have like four sheens in an engine bay, and that's what I love because you look at them like it's flat, semi-gloss, another sheen that I don't even know it has a name to it. Like it's just like wow.

So I don't prefer I don't I'd rather not be a vendor. I went to a model show and I supported Terry and his wife, STS decals. They're one of our leaders. Yeah. So I went there and at the NL East at their booth, and I just had a little section and I just talked to people and educated people, you know. Hey, what is this? What's that? And then if they wanted to buy the paint and go go here and pay these people and they pick the color. I prefer not to sell because I really don't feel like I need to. I'd rather be at a show and enjoy the show and talk to people because I think the biggest issue right now is education. People, a lot of people have questions. So, like if you see me at a show, they won't if it's a show like acne, Terry and his wife are gonna be there. But if you see me at a show, I won't have any product on my table because I won't sell. Same thing when you go to uh Grand National Roaster Show. I don't sell paint. And they're just showing colors, and people can say, Oh wow, look at this color, and we explain it to them and we say if you like the color, you can go on our website. But it's really more education. A lot of people need to understand what they're committing to, especially if you're gonna buy a $1,700 gallon worth of paint. Same thing in the hobby. If you're gonna buy a little bottle, you want to kind of know what you're getting into. And I want to make sure you have the best results because if you buy the bottle and you your results are crappy, you're never gonna buy from us. You're gonna tell all your friends it sucks, and you're going, Manny, I hate Manny, you know, even though they don't know me. And then I'd rather say, Look, I don't even want to sell you shit. Let me just explain to you how this works, how to get the results I get, and you go home and try it at your at your time. You know what I'm saying?

I just I walk away and I order on Amazon, and I said, I'd rather not go there. So I'd rather just talk to the people, and when people see I'm just educating, they can still listen to the conversation. So sometimes I'm talking to you about one thing, I might have two or three guys hurtling around that other guy to listen to what I'm saying it, and they're like, Oh, I didn't know that. And then either they were interested, they were just being nosy, or they say, Hey, you know what? Thank you for that information, and they walk away, and maybe they never use our product, but they learn something new from me to apply whatever they're doing better. So exactly it's really I'm that's really what I like to do in the shows. I think it just might run into me at a at Tampa, and I was just walking around with my family, you know, and um same thing. N and OEs, I wasn't selling, but I I was stuck in behind that because I I wanted to buy because you you get some good deals at that show, and bro, I couldn't buy. I think I bought two, three kits real quick, but I missed so much at that show that I was like, at ACME, I don't want to do that again. So acme I'm gonna just throw a bunch of stickers on a table and walk around, and people catch me, they can catch me walking around.

Awesome. I got a question for you. I love the look of a uh high flight bass boat paint job. Do you have anything like that in your uh in your uh in your inventory?

Yeah, we do. So we have we have aerosol cans and 004. 004 would be if you look at to the scale 124, 125, will be like the equivalence of a 015, maybe a 0.25 flake. 0.25 was your old school 1960s jumbo flake. 0.15 is still a pretty big flake. Then we have a 002 that's not available to the market that's gonna come out in this paint line, not in all the colors, because it it gets really expensive when you start cutting to that size uh glitter because glitter is technically PET plastic that's foiled. It's um what's the name of that process that goes through? It is like anodized, it's electroestatic anodized and it's in chrome and it and it gets anodized in colors. Uh it's I wouldn't say it's a vacuum plating, but it's in that realm, but not vacuum, the chemical bath. Um, so yeah, I'll have a smaller scale flake that'll give you that sparkle. Now, if you're like Manny, I kind of want it now. I tell guys just buy our comet silver that's already has that ingredient in there and spray your candy, and that's how you get that really nice. If you want something more, go to the the Metal Flake spray cans or buy the little jars of Metal Flake in 004 that we pretty much offer like 132 colors, different shades of color in that size, and uh spray it out of a little touch-up gun. Okay, just get ready for a little bit of texture. You have to kind of be comfortable with that.

Usually the low rider guys, the guys out west manage that very well on the scales, like on the model cars, they know how to do it. And they're good at not losing the detail because they won't do the whole body. You kind of do the roof, so you don't start having all that excessive film on the body, and you'll start losing details on the roof of these models. If you're smart about how you tape it, you can tape it, do it really well, and not have excessive buildup that it'll make the car look just like one big blob.

Like I can buy a 51 convertible Chevy or a 50 Chevy convertible, but I decided to buy yeah, or a hardtop, but I bought a 50 Pontiac. Nobody rocks the Pontiac. Pontiacs have a lot of chrome, they're real nice. They were the top trim package from General Motors at that time. So I would say it would be a Hudson Hornet, dude. The car is just timeless. It's great. And that you don't you don't go to shows and you see you don't see a thousand Hudson Hornets.

That's what I'm doing. I am working on the uh well, we call it the ape, I guess it's been called, but it's the ape. Is that right, guys? Am I saying it right? Yeah, French. You know it's French for ape, right? It's French for ape. But I'm working on the Ape, I've got it all done. Uh, this is the build that I'm uh putting into the I'm gonna submit. I'm not guaranteed, but I'm gonna submit it to our good friend Rob Riv, and he's possibly going to get it into the uh magazine, which I'm real excited about that. But uh since we have Manny here, uh one of the coolest parts about this is I have the chassis painted in tropical glitz seductive blue, and the chassis is painted in a lollipop orange, and they both came out extremely well. They look great colors, great contrast. I don't know if he did it because he knows I'm a gator fan, orange and blue. I don't know if he did that on purpose or not, but it uh really came out really nice. I've been working on that, it's finally done. We're gonna take some pictures of it. Uh, I've got my propel bottle to build the windshield out of. Jason, I know, did you go back and put the windshield in yours? Yeah, no, sir. I know that uh Irv put that propel bottle in there, so I've got me my propel bottle and I'm going to um put that in there and put the glass in it. And I'm really excited about seeing that get done and submit the pictures into the magazine and all the products that I used. And uh actually uh last on the Sunday, uh Sunday show, I started working back on this. Um I dare say the word scratch built, but I'm probably somebody'll throw a rock at me if I say scratch built, so I'm gonna say um kit bashed uh independent suspension on the pacer that is going to acne this year, which of course is the hell pacer, but I'm building some uh independent rear suspens the hell the thunder bubble. The thunder bubble. I'm probably gonna have to change the name to Thunder Bubble because that's just yeah. But uh working on the uh rear independent suspension for that, getting it all tied up so we can throw some color on it, get it all put together. Uh most of the scratch work or uh bat kit bash work is done on it, and I'm really excited about putting everything together and see how it comes out. It's got the MCV products Hellcat uh or excuse me, Heliphant motor that's going in it as well. Very sweet, man. Um yeah.

Uh well, right now I've got I just finished the uh Hasegawa Sabur C9 Mercedes. I just wrapped that up. That was a nice quick, flat bottom, just a nice quick build. And I think it came out really nice. There's pictures of that on my Facebook page. I've got the Tamiya Nissan Skyline 2000 GTR that I've got in paint. Uh that I'm I've got this, I'm developing this new bad habit of painting something and then going, I don't know if I like that color. So I'm kind of right now struggling with it, but we'll see if it stays on there. And I've also started the Revell early bronco, the half cap one where you get the trailer in the Doom Buggy. I've I've got that, and I actually had a parts kit, the Baja Buster or whatever it was, the the uh the red, white, and blue Baja Bronco. I had a part I had a parts kit that I acquired somewhere over the past few years, and had a really good uh main body in it with the cutout rear wheel wells instead of the shorty ones. So I'm gonna use that and kind of give the half cab a different look. Oh, cool. Yeah, that's I'm planning on making a lift kit for it. I've got some uh MCV product wheels and tires and an engine that's gonna go in it. So yeah, that's the stuff I got going on. I am trying to slow my s my pace down and take my time. So um no no real word on like how fast this stuff is gonna be put together, but it's what I'm working on regardless.

Actually, sitting to just to my left here, I actually have the the the Buick Wildcat kit and also the uh 67 GT MPC kit, the GTO My sitting here. And this morning I finished up the exhaust system on the GTO My. Um, I used the aluminum wire, 2.5 millimeter aluminum wire to do the exhaust piping on that, and I ran it through um some glass packs that I got from MCV model car parts because those are molded hollow, so the wire passes right through that, no problem, and uh did all the bend-ups and everything I wanted to, and I'm willing to liking how it looks. I'm gonna post some pictures on the on our Facebook page for that, and then um I really have to oh shit. Okay now. I'm looking at the car and I just realized they didn't put the firewall in the damn thing.

So I I hate doing build days because I don't ever build, so I always have a hard time thinking of what to bring. So I will have dozens and dozens of started kits because I bring them to build days, because there's only so much you can do with a build day, you know. Um this is one of those X kit Spinosauruses, uh, fairly simple kit to build. Got it assembled most of the way there, finished it off at home, and I now have it in Black Primer, and I had a um Pegasus is the brand. It's a uh Triceratops, couldn't think of the name. Uh it's a triceratops, uh solid vinyl dinosaur 24 scale. This thing weighs probably close to four pounds of vinyl. You know, so um I I already had that built and all the joints filled and everything, so I put some primer down on him. I was like, all right, I'm gonna get into this. And then yeah, yeah, exactly. Went to birthday party for my kids at uh I'll call it my house, but it's currently where my ex-wife resides. Stayed there for a short amount of time, left, came back to my place, just hung out, and then uh Sunday I was like going gangbusters on these suckers in the morning. Then my kids came over, I took them out for dinner for their birthdays, and uh they kind of sat here on my bench waiting to become fuel. Uh so yeah, I mean I've got some dinosaurs. I'm trying to trying to find my way back to the bench, trying to turn it from something that was an escape to something that I enjoy again. If probably makes sense. You know what I mean? It was an escape for freaking ever. You know, now that uh now that I'm just waiting for my certificate of completion by the marriage police, you know, I gotta I gotta find the fun again.

I I I can sympathize with you because when I was going through issues a hundred years ago um with the ex-wife, my hobby became an escape as well. And then when I met and married Linda and then started, you know, looking around for another hobby again, it was hard for me to get started building because I had such a negative attachment to the whole being in the building space thing. And um, well, if you've seen my hobby room, you can tell I've gotten over that a little bit. That's it's not a green screen behind me, man. That's that's actually the hobby room.

But now, you know, I started that modeling insanity group build, body build challenge, right? You know, and that's that's actually kind of where I'm at right now with that. I hit the gym four times a week now. You know, by the time I get home from the gym and get a shower, it's eight o'clock, so I'm like trying to figure out do I even want to cook something for dinner? And if I do, what and am I gonna sit at the bench just to sit there for 45 minutes and then go to bed? No. So you know what I mean.

But you know, yeah, let's let you know, get get get a little active, make sure that there's some balance in your life. And you know, you're you're sitting at the modeling bench, you know, for a long period of time. Make sure you get up, you know, go for a walk around the block, or you know, join a gym and start throwing some kettlebells around or something, you know. Find something that you enjoy doing, like Jason with the bikes.

Um, I've got a few things started, obviously. We all do, but my main focus is uh trying to get the Blue Ox model shop street machine group build done. So I'm working on this 69 uh Mustang. I found a really cool um image on the internet a while ago of a really beautiful Brittany Blue 69 Mustang Cobrajet, and I said that'd be really cool to build that. So I pieced together a couple kits to get all the bits and pieces. Uh I've painted a bunch of stuff, parts and pieces, so it's good to kind of get that process going. The body, I've taken extra time to fit the nose properly, the rear uh rear apron, and I'm going through and doing um, you know, opening up the uh gaps and all that stuff, you know, doing some scribe work. Now I did notice on the kit, um, the side scoops just glue on, and on the actual car, they're like molded into the core panels. So I'm trying to make this thing really accurate. So there's going to be some work in trying to get these things kind of molded into the core panel. It's turning out really well, you know. I'm taking my time on it. I'll have to. One of the things when I posted pictures on Jason's uh website, you know, or on the Facebook page when we started, I said I would do a build thread, and I haven't really done much to this point that makes it worthy to actually share. But I will here pretty quick, you know, like the exhaust, I painted the exhaust and I used four different colors to paint the exhaust. You know, the rear end assembly with shocks, that's five different colors. So it's not like I'm just painting everything silver and black. I'm actually trying to make it accurate. So it's taking extra time to do that, but I think the result's gonna be really neat when it's done. So I like to have this done for plastic plastic, you know, that's in October, so it should be enough time to get it done between now and then. But I'm trying to slow things down, spend a little extra time. You know, that skyline I finished, I took extra time on that to focus on the detail, and I think it just turned out nice because I did that, and I want to do the same with this. So do some good engine detailing and a little bit of wiring under the hood and uh do some nice interior detail and make the body like nice and straight, put a nice paint job on it. So that's uh that's pretty much it. I just finished up that 364 for auto modeler, so that should be hopefully out in the next the next uh issue. So looking forward to seeing how that looks in print. That's pretty much it for me on the bench. House projects, that's where my time. I started rebuilding my front porch there last weekend, so stripped that down and went with composite deck, so I'm in the process of rebuilding that, plus a couple bathroom renovations and uh just kind of tough to balance everything, you know.

Yeah, I had to kind of it is. I had to kind of rebuild so the deck boards ran one way when I built the deck, and uh I wanted to change direction with them because the end of the unless you get really fancy and trim around the edge, the edge of the composite deck boards just not very attractive because you can see all the underpinning of the way the deck is extruded. So I changed direction, so in doing that had to run a bunch of braces and had to kind of redo what was there. So got a fair amount of it done. The little lady helped me last weekend. We actually worked all day Saturday and it rained on and off. So I had to pick up a couple more four by four posts. I did that last night. So my hope this weekend is to maybe not get it done, but continue on that to try to get that buttoned up. So though I'd like to be sitting at the bench full time, unfortunately, there's other things that take priority, right? So that's it. That that life takes priority. That's it for me. I want to get this Mustang done, and then I've I've got the short track group build I'd never finished, and I've got uh a la carte that I'd never finished.

No, no, this is Florida Grown. It's a Pearl Base coat. And then it has some uh it's obviously we cut a convertible for the viewers that I mean the people that hear us that don't can't see. It's cut convertible, built like a traditional custom. This kit comes with the option that you can do a custom grill, like a you know, molded kit. So you can mold the back, extend the taillights with a roll pan and the headlights. And uh it's floated room, and then I did what is the name of this candy? Shoot. I have I know we have like 30 something candies. I think it is can't think of the name, but whatever. It's a nice red orange red candy that we did a nice fade in the front of the grill, the front of the front of the car, and then we did the back, and then what I ended up doing is uh spraying the color again so it I didn't want it to roll over, I wanted it so it just ends you know right at the face of the grill, and then you just see it overlap on the hood. I don't know if that makes sense. Yeah, in in person you can you can see on the side the profile is off road of grown right to the edge, but then when you turn over, you see the fade on the trunk and the back. And I did that on purpose because I kind of wanted I didn't want it to really take away because I already have a little fade in the front and the rocker panels. But yeah, it's a pearl-based code with a little candy. I like to do I like to play a lot with pearls and candy and manipulate the color to kind of give me different tones. So got it here now, 7,000 grit. Hopefully get it to 10,000 tomorrow because it's already nine o'clock, and I'm sure my wife is waiting for me to come inside.

Um so I really wish I could have gone to that. I'll make it to a nationals one of these years. I I I know I will, but uh that's held at the Grand Wayne Convention Center, uh, 120 West Jefferson Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Um, if you're in that area or even if you're not playing, try to get out there. You should be you should see a national convention at least once in your life. At least that's what I'm telling myself so that I can save for the plane tickets and stuff. Anyway, um, next one is August 22nd, the Virginia Shootout Scale Model Contest and SWAT Meet, held at the Salem Civic Center at 1001 Roanoke Boulevard, Salem, Virginia. And those folks are celebrating 250 years of red, white, and blue. So that's gonna be really cool. Next is on the same day, August 22nd, is the Mid-Iowa Modelers Expo. That's hosted by IP Mess Des Moines, the Glue Brothers. Uh that's Prairie Creek Church, 801 West First Grimes Street, Iowa. Uh, and the last show I want to talk about, um we received an email from a very, very good friend of the podcast, Mr. Keith McGregor. This the show's a bit out there. Uh I want I'm gonna mention it now, and I'm sure in between now and when the show actually happens on October 3rd, I'm sure we'll mention it a couple more times. Uh, but that is SAMCO 2026, uh, hosted by our friends at the Stateline Area Modelers. Okay. Sounds good. So uh person on the list. So obviously we are celebrating the 250th anniversary of this great country. So they're, you know, pretty much every kit that's coming out, by and large, not all of them, but we are offering up regularly the red, white, and blue, you know, themed um 250th anniversary kits. So there's a bunch of stuff coming out. One of them, uh AMT All-American race team. Okay, so it's the Ford Allen 800 or 8000 Transporter, and it has the uh 1965 Mustang Modified kit that comes with it. Oh so the Allen 8000, you know, that that that's been out for a while. The the the truck itself original release was back in 71. Um, and then 72 through 77, they released that a bunch. So the first time that you saw the LN 8000 with a car kit, right? Very similar to the combo they're putting out now, was back in like 72. One of the one of the kits they released was the um the LN 8000 with the uh the Petty Dodge Dart. I actually have that kit. Mike's got one too. Yeah. So that's so that's that's another example of where they kind of combined two kits. So this All-American race team, obviously it's it's all kitted up in red, white, and blue, striping. The um the Mustang kit, I guess I didn't realize they made this because I've never seen one, but that was originally tooled back in 75. The last time they reboxed it was 2005, so it's come back again here in 26. And uh it's uh I, you know, all the the car, the model shows I've been to Swamp Meets. Not that I've looked specifically for it, but I I haven't seen one to catch my eye. So I think it's it's pretty rare. So pretty neat setup, you know. You got a Ford Holler with a Ford um race car, and that's to be released here in uh August of 26th. So it's coming up. Those are both 125th scale. Uh MPC 1932 Chevy Roadster Street Rod. That's a pretty cool looking kit. It's got really nice box art. That's a 125th scale. It says it's got some uh new parts listed with this release. So my assumption is they're just adding things to make it kind of more of a hot rod. That kit goes back to 1963 when it was originally released, and the last time it was released was '86 as the Connoisseur Classics kit. I don't know if you guys remember that. They had a bunch of them out at that time.

Yeah, yeah. So it's been a while since we've seen that one. Again, it's another one. I think in the sea of 32 Ford Roadsters, this one has gotten kind of lost. So I actually may grab that. Again, you know, we we got no space uh to buy anything, but that one kind of uh checks the boxes. I think that'd be a really cool kit. Another um, this is an AMT, the 53 Studybaker Starliner, 125th. It looks very much like the Mr. Speed car that's been released a number of times. It's a it's a it's a drag car and it's a funny car style. The Mr. Speed kit is a front engine where this is a rear engine. So, what I can gather by looking at the box are it looks like they took the chassis from the piranha dragster kit and used that up under the Studebaker body. So I don't know if this was one that was released at some point over time or if they did kind of a combining of parts. It didn't really say that it was a new new release, but like Mikey, I'm a big Studebaker guy, the Starliner, the old Studebaker champion, the bullet nose. I I absolutely adore both of those cars. So that may be a cool one to grab for the uh for the stash.

So it's getting released here in August. So uh anybody that has that kit or you go buy one, uh you know, let us know over on the uh Facebook page that you got it. Show us what's in the box. So another uh Pontiac Firebird MPC. This is another 250th anniversary of America. It's the Unc Sam's Screaming Eagle. So if you guys you guys look this up, it's got really cool box art. It's got a really cool livery. There's an eagle on the hood and red, white, blue stripes. So that kit was originally released back in '83, okay, as a Firebird funny car, and that thing hasn't been released since then. So they pulled this thing out, and you know, new decals kind of rebrand, if you will, for the 250th of America. That's a 125th. That's going to be out here in August as well.

Uh the which were funny car firebird kits. Yeah. So it hasn't been out a while or quite a while. Again, if vintage funny cars and things are your shtick, it may be a fun kit to build. But from what I could tell, it looks like it's got a uh it's got a hemi engine in it. I don't know, kind of neat.

Um, I found uh looking around for stuff outside of you know, kind of uh and AMT, NPC, Revell stuff, uh I found a good website that had a whole list of everything that was getting released in 26. And there's just an absolute pile of Aoshima, Fujima kits that are getting released. Again, I think a lot of these are just reboxing, you know, new decals, rebranding. Um, they've got a 2002 Nissan uh BNR34 Skyline GTR to curbside 124th. That kit's getting released. They've got an Ayoshima Subaru TT2 uh Sandbar Truck 124th. They look like the little key trucks, the little tiny, yeah, you know, um, really neat looking kit. I uh I think not much detail. The last one I had on here, Fujimi is putting out this um 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser. It's a special edition, so they've got two listed they're gonna release. One is a special edition with um outdoor parts included. I think it's out now, that little my little pony Mustang kit.

I think that's I think that's a great thing, right? So uh again, Ayoshima, Fujimi, Hasigawa, I mean, all those guys are still pumping stuff out. It's a little bit harder to find data on all that stuff, but it's out there, you just got to kind of search for it. So whether you're into the kind of more American quote unquote stuff or the uh the foreign kits, there's still just an absolute pile of stuff coming out. So now's the time to buy when you see it. So just go buy it, you know. Plastic doesn't go bad, it'll last a long time.

If you can make one of those older kits look really nice, you've done something, you know.
