Whether you have experience praying the Rosary or are brand new to it, anyone is welcome to listen to this episode. Sit back, relax, and simply meditate on Jesus' life. Thankful to have you here <3
Okay. Hello, everybody. Okay, we're a little bit more up close and personal today. So in full transparency, since I've started incorporating video, I was setting my laptop on top of the cat's scratching post. And it was just bouncing on top. And I really realized last episode when I was recording that it was just a really bad idea because the cats kept scratching and then the camera would wiggle. It was just like a disaster waiting to happen. So now I have you guys on my ottoman and we're a little bit closer. And I kind of like this. It's just a little bit closer, you know. Um, but yeah, so my plan for today is we're gonna print a rosary together. And this is just gonna be super low-key. You don't even have to have a rosary. Um, you can just sit, listen, meditate, relax, like just close your eyes and just listen. Um, but yeah, so I thought before I would start, I would talk about um my rosary a little bit because my mom got me this rosary. So my mom got me this rosary when she was still alive, but I hadn't used it for the longest time. It was just still wrapping its packaging tucked in like the pocket of one of my suitcases, and I never like took it out or used it or anything until I started really building a relationship with the Lord and becoming curious about it. And yeah, um, so as you can see, mine is red and green, so it's festive. Um, but the little, I don't even know what it's called, the little thing in the middle. I know there can be like different icons and stuff like that, but mine is of the nativity, so it's Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus. So mine is um like a nativity-themed rosary, but yeah. So I'm gonna be guiding you guys through the rosary using my rosary prayer book that my mom also got me. Um, I've actually never really used this before. It kind of just lives in my nightstand drawer. I mean, I've like peeked at it. Oh, okay. Maybe I've used it like once, but usually, like I said, I use um the Hallow app to do this. So I want to go ahead and give some basics. So there's the crucifix. Mine is like big and small beads, but I know sometimes they'll just be dependent on like how much space is in between. Um, but anyway, so on the crucifix, that's where we pray the apostles' creed, and then the big ones, um, or the ones that are like spread more apart, that's for the our father, and then the little ones, those are for the Hail Marys. So each green bead, as we go through, is a different meditation on Jesus' life. And there's different types of meditations, so they're all based around him and his life, but for example, let's see. We pray the joyful mysteries on Mondays and Saturdays. With Mary, we remember and consider the wonderful event of the incarnation and the joy radiating from it. We pray the luminous mysteries, the mysteries of light on Thursdays. With Mary, we remember and think about how Jesus, the light of the world, proclaimed the gospel of the kingdom during his public ministry. We pray the sorrowful mysteries on Tuesdays and Fridays. With Mary, we remember and contemplate the passion and death of Jesus, the fullness of the revelation of God's love. Jesus, Jesus, sorry. Jesus chose to give up his life so we could receive his life. We pray the glorious mysteries on Wednesdays and Sundays. With Mary, we remember and reflect on the life of the risen Christ, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and Mary's glory in heaven. And so we rediscover the reasons for our own faith and relive the joy of Mary and the disciples. So, with today being Monday, we'll be praying and meditating on the joyful mysteries. And then there's also like fruit of the mysteries, too. Um I don't know exactly what that means, but like sometimes I'll just meditate on the fruit. You'll just kind of hear as I pray it. Um, anyways, enough of me gibber jabbering. Okay, so let's go ahead and get started. Oh, also, this is something too. Before we pray, we can also um like pray the rosary like with an intention of something. So an intention is just if there's like something specific you want to pray for. Okay, so go ahead. If you have a rosary, grab your rosary. If not, just go ahead, sit back, relax, close your eyes, and we'll start with some deep breaths. What you'd like to pray for. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell, the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. For the virtues of faith, hope, and charity. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen. The first joyful mystery is the annunciation, and the fruit of the mystery is humility. Then the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. Luke 1 30 and 31. God sent the angel Gabriel to Mary, his chosen handmaid with an incredible message and invitation. Mary said yes, not only to the conception of the Messiah, but also to all that God had willed for her. Mary's yes preserves to this day as she continues to allow God to work his perfect will through her for the salvation of all humanity. Mary had a vocation, a calling, a role to be fulfilled from God. I too have a vocation, a particular calling from God that only I can fulfill. If I'm called to marriage, God wants me to love my spouse and children generously and selflessly. If I am a priest or religious, God calls me to give myself totally to Him and ministry to others. And it goes. Let us thank God for the times we have said yes and ask Him for the grace to respond more like Mary today. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. The second joyful mystery is the visit visitation. The fruit of this mystery is charity. Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Luke 1, 41 and 42. When Mary learned of Elizabeth's pregnancy, she went in haste to visit her, to help her, and to encourage her. Mary forgot her own troubles in order to help another. The Lord in turn confirmed to Mary through Elizabeth that what was spoken to you by the Lord was fulfilled. And that's a quote from Luke 1.45. Mary thus teaches us that even in the womb, Jesus came not to be served but to serve. This mystery also proves forever that life begins at conception, since in the womb the unborn John recognized his newly conceived cousin Jesus. Mary and Elizabeth genuinely cared for one another. Do I put my family and friends in first place? Do I take sincere interest in them? Mary teaches us to reach out and care for everyone who comes into our lives. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world with world without end. Amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. The third joyful mystery is the birth of Jesus. The fruit of the mystery is love of God. While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2, 6 and 7. After nine months of waiting and three days of journeying, Joseph and Mary finally found shelter in a little cave carved out of the Bethlehem hills. On this holy night, the Son of God came quietly into the world to reclaim it for his father. He came as a child, so no one would refuse him. He came in poverty, so no one would feel inferior. He came in defenselessness, so no one would feel threatened. That night in Bethlehem, Mary and Joseph needed help. How do I respond when someone asks me for help? Am I willing to go the extra mile? Mary and Joseph allowed Jesus to come to us. Now awaits our yes to allow him to come to others. May we share his childlike love, his gracious joy, and his gentle care with all we meet, remembering that were Christ to be born in a thousand stables, it would be of no avail if he were not born in our heart. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Now and at the hour of our death, Amen. The fourth joyful mystery is the presentation of Jesus and the temple. The fruit of the mystery is obedience. When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. Luke 2.22. In obedience to the law of Moses, Mary and Joseph presented Jesus to God in the temple. Israel's long wait for the Messiah was ended. So too was the waiting of old Simeon, who blessed the child and his parents, having been promised by the Spirit that he should not die until he had seen the Lord's anointed one. He prayed, Now, master, you may let your servant go in peace according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation. And that's quoted from Luke 2, 29 and 30. As Orthodox Jews, Mary and Joseph obeyed the law of God. Am I willing to obey God, to follow his commandments in Scripture and in the teaching of the church, even when it takes great courage? Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. The fifth joyful mystery is the finding in the temple. The fruit of the mystery is zeal. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. Luke 2, 46. On the way home from the Passover feast in Jerusalem, when Jesus was twelve years old, Mary and Joseph discovered that Jesus was no longer with them. Distraught and frightened, they began looking for him everywhere. As the hours turned into days, their anxiety grew. Then, after three days, they found Jesus in the temple. You can imagine their mixed feelings of relief, joy, and even anger. We too endure times of suffering when it seems we have lost Jesus. As our anxiety grows, we cry out, Where are you, Lord? This mystery teaches us that God is always in control, and that in time, if we keep looking, we will find Jesus. As his word declares, at dusk weeping comes for the night, but at dawn there is rejoicing. And that's quoted from Psalm 36. Well, Psalm 30, verse 6. Mary will lead the way. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve, to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn them, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us, and after this exile, show us, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O Clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary, pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Amen. And that's it. Well, I hope you guys liked that and enjoyed that and just found some peace and relaxation and some time with God through that. But yeah, that's all I have for today. Um, but I will talk to you guys next week. Love you. Bye.
