SPEAKER_02

To the right, Josh Reynolds, our GM at Boon Speedway. I'm Cody Malicote. Far left, everybody knows the Bobcat, Jonathan Log, and we have our mod light champion. Finally got you on here. Austin Gray. Yeah, he's doing the finger wave. We got to, we're bringing back the finger wave. You don't know about this, do you?

SPEAKER_09

I don't know how I feel about that.

SPEAKER_02

Jonathan?

SPEAKER_04

Let him have it. When did you start? Well, we're jumping like six things right here. I'm gonna say, like, uh, when you started or when you started watching the mod lights, they were dwarf cars. And they had the finger dance, bud. And we're bringing back a lot of OG stuff at the Boon Speedway this year. Um, I don't give a shit what Jerry says. That's what we're doing.

SPEAKER_06

Twenty-eight.

SPEAKER_04

Twenty-eight of them. Alright. So uh we're we're bringing back the finger dance, we're bringing back some Money Money, uh, we're bringing back some new songs. You know, I don't know when did you start coming to the Boon Speedway and hearing some of this stuff, but if you weren't a part of it, you're gonna be a part of it now.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Because they've actually talked about it in the meetings at uh like when the DNR and everything was out there at the Speedway. And if anybody doesn't want to participate in these activities, they're either gonna be charged more money at the Pit Gate, or you're just gonna be banned from coming to Mary's track the next week. Keep it together. I can't. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

No, we're bringing back the finger dance, man. It's for the kids. Jerry said he was gonna do it. He said that is happening. But the other thing I want is I want the Chicago Bulls theme music for the mods when they roll out. That's yeah, I don't know. We gotta work on that.

SPEAKER_04

We kind of touched about this a little bit. Um, like, there's some really cool, badass different songs that need to be played, I think, at some not just at the Boonspeed, but at all these racetracks or these big events, like um so whoever's in charge of that, I don't know whoever does that. Garrett, do you know who does that? Yeah. It is Jerry. Okay, well, I will do some turkey over the log shade if I got to.

SPEAKER_06

Sounds like we need to have a meeting of the tower. We need to have a meeting of the tower. Yep, we'll do that.

SPEAKER_02

We'll get the brass together.

SPEAKER_04

For sure.

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, we made it to episode 28, and uh and it's just uh things keep moving along. We'll get to our giveaway stuff um here in a little while, but man, that that really took off.

SPEAKER_06

Uh yeah. Um that was that was a quick little phone call. Jonathan called up and says, hey, we need to do this. And well, well, no, hold on.

SPEAKER_04

I don't want to take any of the all the credit here. Wait, we had this game planned up, right? Like we're gonna uh I see this is where I really screw up because then I'll start like telling what we're gonna do. You know, and I don't want to tell that, but we've got some really other cool things that we are working on, and um I was like after you know you guys took uh 19 and a half hours to decide that you were gonna cancel the races on Saturday, I thought that it was a good idea to I mean everybody was already jacked up. I mean, I had like 1,400 phone calls. Like, you guys lost so much money on Saturday. Um I mean I got I was gonna get everyone got their boats ready to go out their racing. Yeah, oh it was dry. The racetrack looked really good, actually. Yeah. Um and but it was the pit area. The problem, yeah. The problem would have been we would have been fighting it all year. Well, well, yeah, I I agree with what's going on. Like, I everybody was like, oh man, you know, I'm like, okay, guys, hold on. New year, Boon Speedway, there are things that aren't going to change at the Boon Speedway, and this is this is one of them, you know, and and it's because that's just what Boon Speedway has done all for a long, long, long time. They've been burnt by it too many times, I feel like. Like when we were kids, you know, they'd call the races early and then it'd be sunny and 70 and beautiful outside.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and with the with the staff that we have and the track crew and the guys that Rod has helping him and everything, like they can whip the racetrack in pretty good shape. And then like he does an excellent job of watching the forecast and getting the thing. I mean, you got to get the racetrack ready to get it ready. Well, I I actually called it Rod five inches in however many days.

SPEAKER_04

That was three days. Three days, thirty-six hours. Yeah. Thirty-six hours. Uh I don't know if you guys caught any of my Snapchats, but I was given a lot of updates.

SPEAKER_02

Weather updates.

SPEAKER_04

Weather updates that we were still racing. Pit gates were opening at two. Um, Saturday morning, I got a Snapchat from a colleague, and uh uh it was of Rod driving through the north lot, you know, and so I called him up.

SPEAKER_03

I'm like, hey, bud, I went out to the track last night in one of them rain breaks and fueled all the tractors up.

SPEAKER_04

So just call me when we need to go out and start getting it ready. And he gave me that little Rod gig, you know. And uh I I'll I don't know, but I uh know these guys don't tell me all of the secret channel shit about the racetrack. I thought we were still racing and did not know until I made that phone call, and I think that it was posted either before I had talked to Rod or like within minutes of me talking to Rod. And um So yeah, don't beat anybody thinking that doesn't mean my phone needs to be blown up like it already did and does, because I do not know.

SPEAKER_06

And the reason is a new phone line. There is the reason you don't know is because you still drive one of those things. Right. It can't give you a I understand. I'm just for the listeners. I will tell you. This baby right here, she was on fire Saturday morning. Was it like it was nonstop?

SPEAKER_02

So I was well, and we had stuff we were dealing with on Friday too, and uh I was at the wrestling tournament all day Friday and all day Saturday, and uh yeah, my phone's going off. I'm like, Josh, has anybody talked to Rod yet? Because like if my phone's blowing up, yours has got to be bad. And he's like, it is literally melting or high. Right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Well, mine wasn't either, and I don't even work there. But you were you were given the official updates. We're gonna have to get you some kind of like little uh little logo or something. Well, and I'm gonna go.

SPEAKER_02

That's what I'm saying. Ducky did text me and he said, Hey, if if you find out, text me before you text Jonathan. I'm sure he did. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Like, but seriously, though, like, no, I mean, I don't text these guys and be like, hey, are we ra you know, like I literally only m called Rod because hey, I wanted to give him shit and tell him that I already had everything ready to go. You know, because he was out there driving. And actually, um, for how much rain we did get, the racetrack looked really good. The infield didn't have much water. I mean, it was saturated and looked like shit.

SPEAKER_02

But we would we probably wouldn't have been able to use the scales. No, it was no, for sure. There was Sarah was out there and sent us pictures on Thursday. Oh, it was Friday. Friday. It was Friday. And there was there was ducks and geese on the infield. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

She asked if they had pit passes on. Yeah. Yeah. You boom people. You just, you know, once it's in your blood, it doesn't leave.

SPEAKER_04

Well, there's an old crook that runs through there, so they were probably in there. There's probably their ancestors. They flew in. Probably. Yeah. Come in to see them. That's probably what it was. You guys ruined their habitat. You know. But yeah, uh, you know, lots of rain here in the big B, um, four and a half inches, like we said, over thirty-six hours. I mean, there ain't no other racetrack in the country gonna race um after that, let alone I mean, I'm really glad you guys canceled because it was cold as shit. It would have been different if it was like sixty.

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah. Right. You know, we would have probably tried, but the the fact that the there was no drying in the in the pit areas and it was forty-one degrees.

SPEAKER_04

I was just gonna say, if there was even like when I woke up Saturday morning, I'm like, oh shit, we're racing because it was sunny. Yeah, like it was sunny, it looked great, it was finally after, you know, thirty-six hours of rain, it was like, man, it was nice to see the sun. And then that ended shortly at about eight thirty, and then it picked up about a ten to fifteen from the northeast, and it just didn't quit blowing. And um at about seven o'clock, I'm like, man, I'm sure glad you guys canceled because it was like thirty-three degrees. It would have been miserable. It would have sucked.

SPEAKER_06

You'd been cutting out some cardboard to put in front of that radiator, it'd be nice. But you know what? You guys would have been in the heat.

SPEAKER_04

Well, you, Josh, would have been in the heat. Jordan would have been frozen. And uh everybody else, like Jerry and Sarah and everybody that had just been enjoying the heat while we were out there putting on the show.

SPEAKER_02

When we went and when we were putting the I showed those guys where to put the fiber in out there, that the uh the mini split was still on. It was 80 degrees in there. It was toasty. Yep, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it was nice and warm. Definitely. Uh, and we were up in the tower too, we opened up Jerry's booth, it was 80 degrees in there. That's what I mean. Hid the mini split in the house. It is, yeah, yeah. The mini split in his was Yep. The baseball heat works over in the VIP. We figured that out. So, Wayne Gifford, you were wrong. Uh we we do have heat in the tower, and that's not why we canceled. So um, but yeah, it's it's one of the deals. Everybody wants to go racing, and I mean we do just as bad. Um, but you know, things work out for a reason. Uh we would have had to play some IT games if we had raced. Um so it just it turned out that we didn't have to do that, and it was that was a little bit for the better.

SPEAKER_02

So I guess one thing we can talk about is all the work that went in last week, and you know, I guess the amount of we need to look at our call log because we gotta be at about 20 hours probably.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But just trying to figure out because they were putting new fiber in so that and we're like, we have to march ahead like we're racing no matter what. We know the forecast is bad, but we have to get this done.

SPEAKER_06

We tore out a building and and for those that don't know, uh Boone's had fiber in the ground for probably thirty years and kind of linking up the pit shack and then all the way down to Tommy's shack, like everything's kind of tied together so we can grab a computer and I can print lineups everywhere without having to go anywhere. And and maybe it's not thirty years, twenty-five, it doesn't matter, it's been there a long time. It was outdated for one, but when we tore out the old mobile home, uh it ripped up the ends of it, we had to redo it. And luckily it was in conduit in the ground, so we're able to pull, you know, and get new through. So it's gonna open some doors eventually to be able to have some some stuff around the track that we couldn't have before, like pushing the broadcast through it instead of having to go through the air. And um it's it's gonna make that stuff much better once we can get to that point. It's not anything that's gonna happen just you know overnight. Um, but yes, we were up against it, and luckily we had a crew come in and hammered it all out, did a great job, but yeah, we would not have had that for Saturday night as we had to come up with a backup plan. And our backup plan, we was we were gonna hotspot phones and we would have made it work. Nobody would have known the difference. That's and that's all ultimately everything, you know. Cody and I spent a lot of time on the phone together. Tyler, our our kind of IT on staff guy, he's been up a bunch. Uh he was up there tonight uh doing some work and just making sure that we can operate in a condition where our normal stuff doesn't even work. So uh that wouldn't have stopped us a bit. So but it is good to have that done. I was pretty excited to now have that, and then yeah, we can kind of get back to normal.

SPEAKER_02

We have some other things to button up, but it's not they're not like super serious things, but you know, we'll get to work over the next couple weeks, and a lot of it has to do with if we have good weather and some of that stuff just to be able to work on some stuff. But one of the things that happened, I believe yeah, happened today was the new Packer tires showed up. Yeah. So that's good. So I got a phone call and the Hoosier Tire Midwest guy was like, hey, I'm heading up there today, and then so um Hank I think Hank and he, I think he recruited a couple guys to go get those all offloaded. So yeah, it's gonna be pretty cool.

SPEAKER_04

I worked at the track today. Really? Yeah. Answering phone calls, putting out fires. I'm telling you, I'm gonna start needing to pay stub.

SPEAKER_06

We're gonna have to get that check figured out.

SPEAKER_04

Hank's calling me at 8 15, wanting to know where the rock's at for the hole we had dug out for the fiber.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

You want to get that covered up. So uh I went ahead and uh emailed, submitted my my hours to the Speedway page. Uh and I will expect a check before I sign in next week.

SPEAKER_06

Right. Well, I'll I gotta get that uh covered, but I'll I'll get I'll make coped calls. It's good.

SPEAKER_03

And I and then I got another one.

SPEAKER_06

Did you get the rock delivered?

SPEAKER_03

I got oh yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Two o'clock it was there at two.

SPEAKER_03

That's the most important part.

SPEAKER_04

The other thing is, is I get a phone call uh about uh it this was after hours, so I actually charged time and a half afterwards. Time and a half because it's after hours uh about some uh stuff I gotta build for the new bathrooms.

SPEAKER_06

Really? Yeah. What do you got to build?

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, Bob, yeah, because Bob Bob called me, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So he's not too mad at it.

SPEAKER_02

He he texted me and he's like, he wanted your phone numbers. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

He's called me like fifteen times about shit. Maybe not fifteen, but like a few times about some stuff. Actually, I lied. I've ran into him at places uh like outside of work and he's always worried about the racetrack. So uh but yeah, he called it's for uh so Dylan and whoever the other Yahoos are that are gonna be running the Wheat Eaters, which when we have that meeting, and I say we because I want to be a part of it, I'm gonna give him the tutorial on how to run a goddamn weed eater. Uh-huh. Okay. But the pieces that I'm building are for the bathroom so they don't bust up the building. Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, so it's a protection like on the outside to not get the siding and stuff like that. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yep.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. So and the print don't forget it, my printer box.

SPEAKER_04

I got the printer box. I got the plans all drawn up. You know, the more I think about this shit, you guys are really setting me up for a lot of backlash. What? Because I'm giving you guys all this stuff. Make payout windows. Speaking of windows. The modified and stock card window.

SPEAKER_05

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_04

There's only two we got hobbies, sport mods, mod lights, cruisers, front wheel drive.

SPEAKER_06

He doesn't know yet. Yeah. That's changing that's changing. Is it? About time.

SPEAKER_04

That waits. I just had a request.

SPEAKER_06

We're putting the mod littles with the mod heavies. Alright.

SPEAKER_04

Well, they that's par for the course. Right? Little guys, big guys. So, oh no, so now it's just modified and dwarfs?

SPEAKER_06

Modified, stock cars, mod lights.

SPEAKER_04

Why isn't it uh Don't argue with that? No, no, no. Why isn't it? Why isn't you argue with that? Why isn't it stock cars and hobbies? Oh, full full fenders and open wheels?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, why are we mix matching? I don't know. I'd I guess.

SPEAKER_04

You got mod lights, sport mods, and modified.

SPEAKER_06

You know, you'd have to talk to Sarah on that. And the sticker hasn't been made, so I'm not saying.

SPEAKER_04

Because then, like, you know, when the front wheel drives come, they just come and they they feather in with the with the fender cars, and when the mod when the micros come, they feather in with the wheel drive.

SPEAKER_02

Whatever we decide, we gotta get submitted tomorrow.

SPEAKER_06

I was gonna say Cody's getting new stickers made for the outside, so I'm gonna let you call Sarah on that.

SPEAKER_09

I'm just saying make sure you have her block as numbered.

SPEAKER_06

Sounds like Austin likes our planning. No, I mean, no, bud, you're still moving to the modified. All right. Open wheels at one window, closed wheels at the other. That's right. That's not I don't hate it. I don't hate it. I will I'll give her a call. And I'll give her your number.

SPEAKER_04

It's like we should put a thing across the across the sign-in check. Tall people, short people for for admission. You know, and people would go up there and do that. Like a lot.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it would make it interesting.

SPEAKER_04

But anyway.

SPEAKER_06

Yes. Then you get the what about your Eric Stans of the world? Because that dude walks up to the door, and I'm gonna be like, I always gotta John Brothin. Brothen.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I always wanted to say Braithan. It is Brothin. I like it when you do that. Man, he's tall.

SPEAKER_04

My favorite thing is watching him get out of the car. Oh he's like brrr. Like he never stops coming out. Right. I thought damn, how does it fit in there? But then it goes back.

SPEAKER_02

And his arms do reach across the roof of his car.

SPEAKER_09

I think there's been a couple times his hand's been uh given the one finger wave at the flagman out the other side of the car. Big Lig L.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. We haven't we haven't brought up Big L in a while. It's been a while. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Uh yeah, he was glad to get Saturday off because they went and took some uh pregnancy pictures. Big L Big L's gonna have little L. Yeah. Boy or girl. Uh I think I should know the answer to that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I should probably know this too.

SPEAKER_06

But I don't offhand. I can look at my phone and find out.

SPEAKER_02

That's okay. He's gonna kick us both. But they're having a child. Yeah, I know. I seen that they're having a child, yes.

SPEAKER_06

And I I was very happy for Emily because she wanted the night off, and that made well, made good for her. I like to make her happy. She's she's nice.

SPEAKER_04

Right. It was a good little good little wrist sesh for him at practice to get that sucker warmed up, get that carpal tunnel worked out.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, yep. Gotta stay warm. You gotta stay uh practice. It's just like practice and anything else. That's right. Well, hey, what do we got up here? Oh, yes, our beer cans are here. They showed up. Yeah, and I did try them. They are not poisoned.

SPEAKER_06

They're not poison, and you yeah, you made it through. Uh uh, I imagine good and cold. What who brought the warm ones? Why'd you guys bring them? I brought the warm ones they're for display. I oh so did you clear that with Kathy? Uh yes, I did. Actually, as a matter of fact, I did. We did. Yes, I did. I did the answer to that. Yep, and thank you, Kathy, for that.

SPEAKER_04

Right. Yes, absolutely beautiful can here that they come up with. However, I was telling the boys, like, I really thought that there'd be a 26 on the door. Yeah. Just like like that's what you guys do for like your shirts and stuff like that. Right. But I mean, this can, it feels great. And what I just noticed is is a little Iowa cutout in the back. I've never noticed that. That's cool. Like that? That's like a cool feel.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, that's kind of like a I think that's their like signature thing.

SPEAKER_04

But um what a what a great like you see the picture of it originally, and I'm like, uh, you know, but it looks really good on the can. I know.

SPEAKER_02

That's exactly how I felt because when they sent it to us, I was like, ah, it's like just a flat. Yeah, I don't know how I feel about it. And then I so I dumped it into chat to see if it put it on a can. I'm like, okay, that's cool.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah, it definitely looks good.

SPEAKER_02

So no, it's gonna be awesome. We'll have all that stuff uh in both sides of the shack. You can get singles, or I think they come in four packs.

SPEAKER_06

Singles, four packs, or six packs. I worked that out.

SPEAKER_02

Now, do you get a discount for buying a six?

SPEAKER_06

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

How much?

SPEAKER_06

And a discount for a four. Three dollars off for four, and you get basically you buy five and get a f get a fit or six one free. So you're getting a free.

SPEAKER_03

See? They're not that greedy people.

SPEAKER_06

Oh the time.

SPEAKER_02

No, we can probably do I mean, yeah, we're gonna have to.

SPEAKER_06

Six bucks for a single. So that's and a typical like a bud in bushlights five.

SPEAKER_02

So get the commemorate commemorative can and there is a now that will be a collector's item, folks.

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely. So make sure you get your can because in twenty years when Cody's like where we take over Boon Speedway and I buy it. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_06

Um we work for you. I can't wait. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You fuckers would be fired. God help me. Too much phone time. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Anyway. Colton will work for you. It'll be a slew of reds. Right, yeah. Everybody's savage. If you're not red, you can't work here.

SPEAKER_02

Right, right. I was uh totally kind of off subject, but it goes with the red thing. So I sent you the the snaps of that TV show I was watching. The like the company retreat thing, like this guy. Everybody's actors except this one guy. He thinks he's on like a reality show, has no idea it's a fake company, whatever. Yep. So they bring in another company that wants to like buy 'em out, and every single person on their staff is redheaded. Like it was just like a thing part of the show. It was all And then they're like, This is weird. Like they're all redheads. Why is everybody redheaded?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_04

Yep. Yeah. So we missed the Adobe Rank uh Adobe Lounge Power Rankings. Yep. Uh just gonna slide them into this week's program now. They are calling for a little bit of rain. Yep. Some more rain.

SPEAKER_06

Yep. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But it's not but it'll be warmer.

SPEAKER_06

It is supposed to be warmer. I I mean and I don't put a lot of stock into anything past three days out.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I try to that I learned that trick from a cameraman that worked at KCCI. Um that any forecast you see anything past three days is actually just averages. So that's why if you watch that fourth day, you can watch it do this number, but the other ones are pretty steady. So uh but yeah, as we get closer, um I mean I obviously we're we're all ready, we're ready. We wanna we wanna get a night in, like so bad.

SPEAKER_04

And I mean that was uh I mean honestly, you look at it this way the racetrack is a business, right? I mean, and Saturday night was a big opportunity for them to make a ton of money just for the viewer standpoint. You know, nobody else was racing. Uh, you know, we had a lot of people giving backlash about Boonspeedway and not calling and blah, blah, blah. Well, guys, there's there's a rhyme and a reason why they do this. And I didn't really understand this. And no, I'm not sucking on your tad poles. I'm just saying that you start thinking about that. No, I'd be more gaggy. I'm way more gaggy. I'm telling you, I can't even hardly pick up a dog's turn.

SPEAKER_02

So um and he breeds dogs. That's different.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, I you guys know the story behind it, alright?

SPEAKER_09

Don't make me go into it. Are you one of those uh artificial inseminators gotta get down there and do the dog stuff?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but it's not really a jerk. It's just you reach under there. Like, my dog got so used to me doing it. Did he think it was better the first time we started jerking? This is not the direction I was wanting to go here. No, but I I couldn't, I had to quit wearing a glove because he thought it was weird. So um it's it's people do it all the time, okay? Like and I had to do it, and I that's hey man, it was it was a it was a thing. Yeah. God rest his soul. He passed away on me the day after my birthday, the day after my birthday a couple years ago, whole Mac Daddy. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Wow. How many did he give you?

SPEAKER_04

Uh oh, but I mean, uh over the course of three years, I mean, uh we were shipping semen ever. That's the whole deal with Bob, like why I left Bob Harris's, is I was working for Bob Harris at the time in Rocky Cottle and stuff, and I went there because uh I had my Danielle and I had started a dog breeding business, a French bulldog, right before it was all blown up. And I went to work, and Garrett worked there too with me, and I went to work one day, and I'm like, hey Bob, uh, you know, I'm gonna I'm gonna put my two weeks in. He's like, oh wow, you know, I'm like, well, because uh I just looked at him and he's like looking at me, like waiting for my, you know, and I'm like, well, um, I can jack my dog off in less than 15 minutes and make three thousand dollars. And I mean I uh why you know I can do that. I'm and then I said, I can't even wear I've been we've been doing it so much lately that I can't even wear a glove anymore, or Mac looks at me funny, but he just looked at me like what? Oh my god, and he's like, I'm like, yeah, I'm like, I this our dog breeding thing has just really exploded, like literally, literally, literally. Did you go to any career days and try to explain that? Actually, I started a tutorial on YouTube. No, I didn't start a tutorial, but I no, I mean it was a mysterious thing, you guys. Like, I it was crazy, like because not all um not all Frenchies can have pups naturally. So C-sections, right? Uh well you a lot of yeah, a ton of C-sections because their hips are so small, it'll just basically um well, I got another story about that too. I don't know if we want to get into that.

SPEAKER_06

Well, first of all, that was a real that is true facts.

SPEAKER_04

Like if you ask Bob Harris about that today, he'll he will tell you that story. Oh, I can't wait. And so I basically that I put my two weeks in. Well, then that's kind of when and where uh Log fabrication started was because um we were doing the whole sending the semen and stuff, whatever, but I like that wasn't the only thing that I could do. I I'm not, you know, so I was just kind of doing some weld stuff, uh repairs and just kind of things with your hands. Yeah, yeah. Hopefully we're wear gloves for that. Yeah, we definitely wear gloves for that. Yeah, don't want to get contaminated.

SPEAKER_06

The welder doesn't look at you funny. Right. Well, it does. Look at it. We'll make you look funny, too.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's true. But so then that's kind of where Lok Fab came about, and you know, like when we talked about it with Matt, you know, I was out here working and he came out here and and just like that. I basically I was using my dad's shop at the time uh and using all of his tools and everything, so fifty percent of what I made went to my dad, and I just started saving money and saving money and and next thing you know, you're buying a building uptown. The yeah, yeah, that's that's what happened. It all started with uh doing just dog stuff.

SPEAKER_06

Can we see Log Fab out the back of the BDE building? I didn't even look. I didn't even pay attention. Oh, I bet we might be able to. We gotta be close. You should be able to.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's only a uh hop, skip, and a jump. Yeah, because you'd pop that. You'd be over the I'm on the north side.

SPEAKER_04

Well, yeah, but I'm saying that that window faces the day when I was when uh my brother in law put the plumbing in um up at the bathroom and stuff today, and I was we pulled into ProBuild there, and I'm like, hey bud.

SPEAKER_06

Look right over there.

SPEAKER_04

See that second story door right there? And he's like, Yeah, I said I'm gonna be burning rods off that baby in two days. He's like, Really? What's going on? I'm like, yeah, man. Well, uh speaking of that, I mean now we just well throw it out there. We uh put it out. We've got a headquarters. Uh a studio, if you will. Coot dog did some put his nose to the ground and picked us up. Uh we have a studio. Well, not a studio. I mean it's a it will be. It's gonna be. Yeah, it will be in a studio. It'd be yeah, it's gonna be awesome. I'm so excited. I've learned some shit about it. My sister's friends are the ones that do the facial, so when we get done with the podcast, we can go right down and get a studio. Oh, hell yeah. Getting a facial from your sister's friend? What? Depends on which one you're talking about. Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Anyway, uh this is starting out really well with that.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, we really, I mean, we I think we need to go to go to our bridge and we need to come back in and we need to do this. This we're we're hyped up about this Supernational's pit basketball.

SPEAKER_06

We are, we are. Before we go, though, I want to say it's almost a little sad we're gonna be leaving the Bobcat Den. And I I will tell you that, like, it's been a privilege being here, being around your race car, being around all the stuff in here. Like, we'll have to come back. We'll we'll do a remote. We'll be back. We'll do a remote.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, maybe two.

SPEAKER_02

I'm locally hated, so we might not make it up there very well. I see that. Yeah. But the like that guy did explaining the history of the building was pretty cool. Like, it was very cool. Like that's pretty sweet.

SPEAKER_04

Mike tried buying tried buying this Terry Redlin uh goose thing. Yep, looked her up online. She's going for 40 bucks. Okay. All right. So if he ever tries to come off of it, don't let me forget that it's only worth 40.

SPEAKER_03

I can see him trying to be a little shy. What a nice guy, though. Nice guy.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's gonna do some work for us. I mean, I said some things that made him smile and kind of chuckle a little bit. So that that was a positive Jared Clark is his son. Um gosh dang, and I can't remember who was talking to me about that, and I'm just drawing a blank. Do you know Jared? Yeah. I don't know if I know Jared. Yeah. Yeah. That we talked. This is the first time I've lived in Boom my whole life. This is the first time we've ever been in. I had ever been into this building. Yeah. Sorry, Austin. Maybe if you win a championship or a national points, don't lose by two. We might have you come back up, come to the new.

SPEAKER_09

I'm sure I'll be the last one, so don't worry.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, Jerry will be. That's actually why we canceled. So we could get our last track champion on before we actually raced back at Boone. Yeah, we had to get her done.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Well, should we send that to send it to a break and then we'll come back, talk to Austin. Um well, if he still wants to, I guess. Oh, he does. We got a lot of questions. Oh, yeah. So we will send it over um to Central Iowa Diesel Performance and Moffitt's Ford. And is that it? Adobe Lounge. Yeah. And then I think Or is that the second segment? Adobe's first, and yeah, whatever. Anyway, we'll go to a break when we come back. They'll see shortly what it is. Yeah. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, you just stay tuned. You'll see which commercials we're talking about. Check out the commercials. All right, you're watching Watermelons and Witch, we'll be right back.

SPEAKER_06

So hey, the gloves are off. Yes. Let's introduce Austin to what we're here for.

SPEAKER_02

Austin Gray, Mod Light track champion. Um, and man, uh you were driver of the year, also, right? Yep. Yeah. So you had a season, bud. I did. It was a good one. Real good one. Yeah, like uh eight wins at Boone.

SPEAKER_09

I believe so. You'd have to tell me.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think. I don't know. 18.

SPEAKER_06

He said we had to tell him.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. But he had a good year. But it it was it was a lot. And uh I mean your progression from because yeah, we'll we'll kind of jump into this, but like your progression. I remember when you raced hobby stocks, sometimes you were racing stock cars or stock cars.

SPEAKER_09

It looked like a hobby stock. I was bad enough to be.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you're racing stock cars and mod lights at one point also, and then you're you're just solely doing the mod light stuff now, right?

SPEAKER_09

I still got the stock car.

SPEAKER_02

You do? Do you get that thing out ever again?

SPEAKER_09

I wanted to for Supernationals last year, but just work didn't work out.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So kind of take us through your start, I guess. Like what got you into this whole racing mess, I guess.

SPEAKER_09

I used to hang out with uh old seven footer Brothen, went to the track with him quite a bit and watched him race, and then he was selling out a stock car and scraped enough money together and started doing that, kind of sucked at that, and then started hanging out with him when he went to Mod Light and got to know Randy Bryan really good and drove down to Missouri to Lakeside there racing, and we're supposed to go to Wichita next. And Randy's like, Well, I uh don't want to race today, as we're already there, and why don't you hop in it? And I think I was going for second or third first time in it and really bought it on the way home. Okay. That's a hell of a deal. Yeah, that's cool.

SPEAKER_04

So you've only raced for how many years?

SPEAKER_09

I think I started an eighteen.

SPEAKER_04

So picking up a track championship. So this is uh how many years in the mod light?

SPEAKER_09

Oh I think I did two or three in the stock car and then stopped started getting in the mod light.

SPEAKER_04

So you so basically you're just saying so you got five years into the mod light.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, something like that.

SPEAKER_04

So to pick up a track championship, uh just racing at Boon Speed. I mean, it's pretty pretty t tall task at Boon Speed with the field of cars that come there, a lot of good guys.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Um always have had that, you know. Um and and the class being, you know, getting bigger and bigger, especially with supernationals. Did you qualify for the supernationals?

SPEAKER_09

Every year.

SPEAKER_04

Every year. All right. Well, we had somebody on here that, you know, won the track championship, but didn't qualify for supernationals.

SPEAKER_09

I've actually lucked out pretty well at supernationals every year, so it's what's your best finish? I've gotten third twice. Third twice.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so you need two more.

SPEAKER_09

I thought this year was my year, but it just didn't work out.

SPEAKER_06

Is that they do trophies down how how many do they do they do? Four. Four. Four. Okay. All right. That's uh that's pretty cool. Yeah. Like those are really cool trophies.

SPEAKER_04

Uh when did they start the Modlight Steel? Uh, Modlight Supernationals. It wasn't that long ago.

SPEAKER_09

No, that was actually the year that I got into it. So it was what, four or five years ago? So was it COVID? Yeah, it was COVID. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so what where I'm going at with this year, boys, is uh, I mean, you got you've made the Supernationals, you you get to start the whole Ryan Clark thing with uh statistics. So you've been in the top three two times.

SPEAKER_09

And I think I'm the only driver that's been a top ten every year.

SPEAKER_04

Well, there you go. We got a little bit of Ryan Clark in the Austin Gray right here.

SPEAKER_06

If we're gonna come at it like that, when are you gonna win one? I sure are.

SPEAKER_09

You know, the story of my life is always coming up short.

SPEAKER_04

Well, maybe if you took a little bit of that, I you know, I noticed that you run a lot of J-Bar angle in your car because it looks like you're like pogoing off that right rear.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, well, we did switch cars like mid-season last year uh to the new Randy Bryan chassis and done better. Yeah, it's gotten more consistent.

SPEAKER_04

I've I've I've you know, Randy come I didn't know that Randy was building those cars. And then when Brian Zim got one, you know, it's like, and then I'm like, holy shit, you know, because we built one. Like, there's a lot of shit going on in one of them that you just don't even see um under all the shit that they got going on. But uh really cool to build one and and and I mean we watched it race, it's been on the wall, but upside down a few times, you know, and survived. But it's just everything's so much smaller compared to a big car. You raced a big car and a little car.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

The cockpits are the same. We've talked about that on prior podcast. Um, but we worked on, I think it's called I'm gonna murder his name. It's a red Colby uh Olbram. Yep. We put a body on his car this year, and he had a shock mount up ripped off, and I'm like, you guys beef the shit out of those cars.

SPEAKER_09

I'm like Well they're built to roll. I mean the odds of you rolling on them are very high.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, absolutely. Uh everybody always says, is it true? Like if you turn right or is it if you turn left. It's turned left. Yeah, and then you'd think a darker driver would get that figured out. Well, not in a big car, bud. You're always going right. Left gets you in.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. You gotta turn right to go left.

SPEAKER_04

You gotta turn right to go left.

SPEAKER_09

You're doing that in the small cars, too.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Well, I just didn't know with the smaller tires, you know.

SPEAKER_09

Um, they're the same patch as your guys's.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but they're a fucking real rubber tire. Yeah, yeah. We do have real rubber. You pussies get the best racetrack. We're changing that this year. Are you happy about that or not? Hell no.

SPEAKER_09

We get some modifier that goes that little princess gets in a stock cart and wants to start changing things. That's right. That's right.

SPEAKER_06

Listen up. Wow. Wow. So, you know, that brings up a good point. What they will be the first ones to be racing for a watermelons and wood chips trophy. Nope, we're changing that. Oh no, no, no, no, no, no. Why? Night one will be just like any other night that we've ever ran in the history of the world. No, it won't, because we're having hamburgers. Well, that'll be different. Or for the running order. Night two, they go to the back, sport mods to the front to the front. Night three, sport mods to the back, modified to the front. And that first class to run every night, they're running for the watermelons and wood chips trophy. The performance body. Hold on a minute.

SPEAKER_04

Hold on a minute. So the only thing that we're switching is who's on the racetrack first.

SPEAKER_06

Well, not necessarily modified. Yep. Everybody move so it's like a cog, and then that one falls to the bottom. So then they'll run last the next week. So it your order changes week to week to week to week to week. It'll make sense once it starts.

SPEAKER_04

I promise. I don't know.

SPEAKER_06

I promise.

SPEAKER_04

I might have set us up for some. Oh you did. Oh, you didn't.

SPEAKER_09

You know, when the stock cars get out there and they bitch and moan when they come in and half the race is just rolling the track in.

SPEAKER_04

People are gonna be bitching. Oh yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_09

You know, half of our race is rolling the track in for you guys.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but you know what? Here's what I think might happen. I think what might happen is like, especially when like the hobby stocks go out there first. That's gonna be rough. No, it's gonna be awesome because they're gonna take all that slime with them smaller tires and maybe make a cushion. I know Rod don't like a cushion, but that's what because they're gonna be it's gonna be clumpier. Like when I watch your guys' race, we can tell what the racetrack's gonna do very consistently. Yep.

SPEAKER_09

So they're rolling it in.

SPEAKER_04

If Austin DeGray's going forward, it's usually gonna be a one-lane nobody passing because he does all the passing before we get there. But you know what I'm saying? Like you can see the crumbs, you can see you can see the track transition. It's gonna be different. I mean, it really is. Okay, so how about this? For the first how many months do we race? Or how about for the first twelve nights we do the you know guys that race first go to the back the next week, and then the last twelve nights we don't run the stock cars behind the modified. Well, you get a run in front of them for a week.

SPEAKER_06

So what okay, so what's your ideal order?

SPEAKER_04

What would you do? No, I'm just completely random. Just randomly like a wheel? Put put yeah, like the like spin a wheel. What we're gonna do for the I've wanted to do that for so long. Or spin a wheel. It's something that'd be something at the driver's meeting instead of having Cody hide in the pit jack. I've been because sometimes he's gotta have I'm being a dick comment.

SPEAKER_02

That he could come out and be like, okay, guys, we're gonna spin the wheel, you know, and spin it. I've talked to I've talked about doing this for ten years. I would love to do it.

SPEAKER_06

I think when we talked to Rod about it, though, I thought the whole thing was though, is this this helps him to think how he's gonna prep it. So to if it keeps moving like that, then he can know.

SPEAKER_04

If you do the wheel, like Well, he'll still know because we're gonna do it at the driver's meeting. Because the the heat even the heats are gonna be the same, correct?

SPEAKER_06

No, it I mean we however we run the whole night's gonna be the whole night. Oh. You see what I'm saying? So it's that way everybody gets the same amount of time apart from heat to features. Because if we did that, then you'd have a class that would sure enough, the way we'd spin the wheel is it'd be sport mods that have two B mains and they'd run last for heats and first for the features or something like that, and then that would be bad. So I think we need to give everybody that the same order from heats to features, that way they've got the same amount of time to work on their stuff. So that's that's my opinion. I I don't like when orders are different from heats to features, because I've I dealt with that back in the day, like hobbies would run first for heats and then dead last at you know at the end of the night.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_06

Um, which gave us tons of time. That part wasn't bad, but it was there was other classes that it they didn't have as much time.

SPEAKER_04

Well, you know why they did that though, too, is because there were three times as many hobby stocks back then, and so there are now. But I do understand that I didn't I didn't think about it that way.

SPEAKER_06

But I mean I'm just saying, like the wheel would the wheel would definitely add some intrigue to it.

SPEAKER_04

Um there's gotta be a way. How about this? Chad G B. I think it's great. Yeah. Well, I think it's great that we're we're we're going down this, but let's figure out a way to do it. You know, the little random I'll get on the secret channel this week and see. You know. Let's yeah, yes, you should do that. I'll do that. You should do that.

SPEAKER_06

Maybe we can include you. Okay. You just gotta make sure and fuel up the tractors for Rod.

SPEAKER_04

Did it done. It's already done.

SPEAKER_06

So anyway, back to Austin. This is how we hijack things. We just start going on on a rant. But uh, so you're not crazy about the order moving around. You you like to run first? Yeah. You like to run first?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I like to know the track we're gonna be on. And every once in a while you guys throw us a hairball and do a quick farm while we're in staging. That's a little interesting, but Do you like that or not? Uh it's a little bit different. I mean still trying to make moves on slime, but you know, kinda when you gotta our cars are kinda tippy, so you gotta kinda plan on how grippy it's gonna be or you're gonna be on two wheels a lot.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and that's you know, getting into that where he was trying to go with the left and right and whatever, but like yeah, the the narrow wheelbase on those things, like does that change I mean, yeah, because if you get that thing too tight, yeah, you'd be faster than hell, but you are until you aren't.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I mean I was playing that game quite a bit and being on two wheels, it's not fun. Yeah, expensive it's an expensive way to race. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Does that uh so does that kind of change? Like if you know like you're going to boon, right, and you're out first and you set your car up, like you're like, okay, I can't really manhandle this thing because it might be too gripped up or whatever else.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I mean it's usually further on in the race. It's usually not right away just because there's enough grease out there that even a tight car will stay down, but you can usually tell when the track's starting to get fast because you start seeing guys bunny hop or get on two wheels pretty easy.

SPEAKER_02

And I've seen that happen where guys would be out leading a race by seven car lengths and their stuff starting to get wheeled up, and then whoop, here goes the 48 underneath them or whatever whoever, you know. But yeah, that I've seen that more obviously with the narrow wheelbase with the mod lights than obviously any other class. You kind of it's it's almost like watching a midget race or a wingless sprint car race, like in that same aspect where like this dude can be checked out, but this isn't this isn't the end all be all here because you know something could happen.

SPEAKER_06

Anything can happen. And when the track starts to grip up, like do you drive harder or do you try to you're a little bit more reserved so you're not going up on two wheels?

SPEAKER_09

Oh, you always gotta be pushing the limits, but I mean you're just trying to drive it as hard as you can. I mean, some nights the car will take that away from you by getting on two wheels and stuff like that. Sure. It's just part of it.

SPEAKER_04

Well, it's kind of like, and maybe what I relate that to is is like when the racetrack has got a little bit of slime in it, you can slide the right rear to where when the racetrack gets worked in, you're not uh you're you can still slide, but then once you go to pick the gas up, your car is tractioning up and it's trying to go forward. And that's why when you see the guys, you know, with locked left and go up the racetrack and they're trying to stay on the gas, guys, it will never turn on the gas when you're already in a death push like that, you know, and that's just because of how you enter the corner and blah blah blah. But a mod light, like with your guys' shocks and your coils on your shock, that is a way different thing. Like a way different style of setup, and like to me, I've never raced one, but it seems like it'd be more rigid because you've got everything right there. Um I do think your guys' quick changes are badass, even though they're the same price as a big one. But it's part of the game. They're cool as shit.

SPEAKER_09

You can still run the Toyota rear ends. Really? But I'm not changing the gears.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_09

It's about like the stock cars, they need to go quick change. I know he doesn't feel that way because he sells them, but promotes travel racing a lot cheaper. It only benefits the guys that have the gears already, that have the eight hundred dollar gears. Right. Well that's my take on it.

SPEAKER_04

And and and I agree with that. Uh, you know, the gears have gotten out of hand, but there are like what do you do with all the gears? I mean, the hobby stock guys can't just absorb all of those and the sport mod guys, you know what I mean? Like it's it's kind of a double-edged sword, like we talked about, you know, like and I think the mod lights have always been where when did they switch to a quick change?

SPEAKER_09

I don't know when it was, uh but they did used to run the Toyotas like in the dwarf days and stuff like that. Which there's still some mod lights out there that are running the Toyotas.

SPEAKER_02

Is there an advantage to having the quick change or you know, the the Toyota stuff, other than like the gears are different and like is it would there be an advantage at all to have the keep the Toyota, like if you're only running one racetrack?

SPEAKER_09

I'm sure there is. I mean, it's no different than like when the big cars like you can argue that these have less rotating than a quick change. I mean, if you fine-tune a nine inch, it's theoretically better than a quick change. It's less moving parts. But you got you can fine-tune a quick change.

SPEAKER_04

Right. Yeah, I will say the quick change, like with the gearing and stuff, like when I was in a modified and everything, like you can really you know, a couple hundred RPMs here and there is a big difference.

SPEAKER_09

You know, like kind of change where you want it. Slick track, you can bogger down a little bit more.

SPEAKER_04

Right. Where you want the RPM. Like, let me let me elaborate on that a little bit because we're still around the same chip rule, right? So it's just a matter of when you have that zip zap whatever you want to call it, is what I'm trying to say. So um, but back to the slick racetrack thing, you know, I just feel like when you know you guys go out there, your guys aren't really that abrasive on the racetrack. Um and I don't know if that's just because it is slick and you guys kind of work it in. But there are also times too where they don't farm the racetrack as much and it looks like they did, and you guys are out there blowing dust five laps in.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But also that kind of comes too sometimes when there's you know, three or four cautions in a row right away in the beginning of the race because we're back to lining up and we're burning laps, and depending on who's leading those laps, you're clipping around there pretty good.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you can usually tell, like, if the mod lights go green to checkered, then it's gonna take eight laps or ten laps for the sport mods to start moving around. And then but if you guys have like a two caution deal, then you know the sport mods are gonna be coming out of the gate, you know, and then I it's the weirdest thing, and I don't know if it's just my perspective, but like for whatever reason, Boon Speedway I changes the most under a caution, and I've never really seen other racetracks do that more than than Boon Speedway. It goes quick.

SPEAKER_04

Well, and it's weird. Uh Rod kind of touched on that a little bit too because um like when he's out there packing, there's times where I wonder why he's out there doing that. You know, like when it's like dusty or like all the stock were all running on the bottom or whatever because the mods push the pushed everything off the top of the racetrack so it's real treacherous up there and we're packing in the middle. Well, sometimes all that shit or that that grip that some of us stock car guys can get on and root up off of there, you pack that in and you gotta lane for about two or three laps. I've been burnt by it a hundred times. And that's kind of what you're going with, I feel like, with the mod lights deal. They get out there and they're racing two or three wide. Sometimes it's like you guys are I can tell when you guys are all over the racetrack that it's good right away. So that tells me that then the sport mods are gonna go out there and they're gonna race all over it. Probably push the lip up further than what you guys are always going to do.

SPEAKER_09

Well, you just can't get the penetration like the big cars can to blow the dust or the fluff off of it. So, I mean, even if you're running the high side, it's kind of hard to keep that going on a nightly track because the crumbs from the bottom will just dirty that up quicker than no other, and it's hard to blow it off.

SPEAKER_04

And yeah, and that's where when Rod has us on a caution, go to the middle or whatever, if you're not utilizing that uh for at least a lap or two, or maybe even at that point in the race, people a bunch of people move up because that's sometimes that's a lot that at a lot of racetracks, like we're all burning in a lane down here, and then the caution comes out, and all of a sudden we get the double file lineup deal, and you gotta have eight or ten cars running the top, and then it cleans the top off, and now all of a sudden the top's three tenths quicker.

SPEAKER_06

Yep. You know, we've seen that too, where four or five in the top ten, it's like they change just like that. And a lot of people think it's just the double file restart that did that. No, there's another lane there that I mean it did in a way, but but yes, it gave people options that they weren't there the first half of the race or the first 18 laps of the race.

SPEAKER_04

Well, and a lot of people think of it as this, too, is it's like, well, that's where the leader's running. That's where I need to be running, that's where he's the fastest. Yeah, but you know, my dad always beat into my head you pass all these guys in this lane, and then when you get to the lead, you change your lane. Why? And it made it I like I just didn't understand it. I'm like, well, he's totally right. Like, why did I change my lane? But there might be sometimes when you're the leader and you need to gain some momentum, you might just have to go and rip the lip.

SPEAKER_05

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_04

You know, to try to get that that little bit more because now you're not racing in traffic.

SPEAKER_06

Right. Yeah, because you got clean you got clean air in front of you. Maybe you can throw the Jake Sackhouse line in for a lap and maybe it maybe you take off or maybe it doesn't work.

SPEAKER_04

Right, right. I don't know, that's a tough one. I mean, uh, when do you do that? You know, like when you I mean, are you are you guilty of that? Are you guilty of passing a bunch of cars in a lane and then getting to the lead or and changing your lane, or are you just are you just like Well, I mean it all depends where.

SPEAKER_09

I mean, if you're passing cars and you pass for the lead, then realistically you should be there. But also get coming down the last two l uh laps protecting too. I mean it takes one guy to throw a slider at you and lose it.

SPEAKER_06

Are you are you one that watches the track surface while you're racing on it, or are you just feeling it?

SPEAKER_09

A little bit of both. I don't I'd say I'm more into feeling it, just trying to find that grip patch. Especially like a boon. I mean, you're just trying to be the first one to find the grip and get out of the slime. I mean. Yep.

SPEAKER_06

Boon's all boom is harder for me to to recognize it just because it's darker. It is. But like I would at Stuart, it was just like this weird, like it looked kind of dull. I was like, ooh, that I think that's gonna work. And I would that's usually where the grip was at. I mean, sometimes it didn't last, but yeah, boom is always a little harder to see that way.

SPEAKER_09

I almost wonder if it's kind of like some of the wood chips and the fluff, it's just kind of hides it a lot more.

SPEAKER_04

Well, it's weird. It's like uh you go to Brit or Webster City and that doesn't have wood chips in the black dirt and you bring in fifty pounds now at the practice we hauled a lot of that new dirt off on our race cars into the pit area. Um but when you can tell when they put wood chips on it, it makes it to where it's not like clumpy. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, and it like does it. Doesn't bond as good. It sticks together, but not like it does when it's not, you know, and I that was the biggest difference. Uh when you asked about the dirt earlier, that was one of the things is like we were out there and on a farm and it was still dry, but it was really hard. But we also brought in a bunch of goopy, it must have been that good stuff the DNR gave us. Right.

SPEAKER_06

That special dirt. Right. That's right. Right. Um You gotta ask him about his number too. Of course.

SPEAKER_09

I gotta ask you, how'd you get your car number? I wasn't looking forward to this. I just picked a number. Just a random number. You just like I like the number of. It's kind of weird. I was like, uh fourth month, eighth day of the month. It's my birthday, so I'm like, I'm just gonna choose that.

SPEAKER_06

So April 8th.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, so that's your well, that's easy enough. Four to eight. So tomorrow. Yeah. Right. I think so.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Really? That was a good guess. It was the broom that did. I was like, that's gotta be under 300.

SPEAKER_03

There's almost a little bit of red.

SPEAKER_02

I was gonna say he's got a little red, so we're definitely outnumbered again.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, once again.

SPEAKER_02

33 reds to normal.

SPEAKER_04

The whole 70% thing that I brought up, G is not playing indoor for more reds on here than we had anybody else. Really?

SPEAKER_06

Quite a deal. Yeah. For sure. Um, so that's the number. Uh who's the toughest guy you race against? Oh like you see him out front and you're like, this is gonna be rough.

SPEAKER_09

I gotta go. Honestly, like Randy Bryan. I I know he's kind of just been kind of slowing down over the years, but he is one of the most consistent drivers out there, the cleanest drivers out there. And he's just plain hard to get around if he's on a night. Yeah. Like over at Marshtown, I mean, he just made it quick and doing a line that most people can't because he's just consistent.

SPEAKER_04

You sure it isn't his secret setup? Or does he give you guys the setup?

SPEAKER_09

He comes to me for setups. New tech guy over at what's it called those cars?

SPEAKER_04

Uh bullet chassis. Bullet chassis, that's right. I knew that. BZ. Yeah. Brian, I don't know if you're listening, but apparently you need to call Austin for less J Bar angle.

SPEAKER_09

He sends his mom over.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Jane, she man, she she amazes me, all the stuff that she does on the 46. Oh, yeah. I mean, she's awesome.

SPEAKER_06

She is what Jonathan would call savage.

SPEAKER_04

She is. I love that lady. When she would come out and uh talk bodies with Roach out of Harris. Yeah. I'm just like she's down to the 32nd on this sucker.

SPEAKER_06

So she's the speed secret in the Zine camp. A hundred percent.

SPEAKER_04

She's kept them boys tamed down and fast for a lot of years.

SPEAKER_06

Because I remember when Ed went from the dwarf car to the mod right away fast. Yep. Right away. Well, mod lights are faster than modified. Oh yeah, and half the price. But we got real rubber. There was a little more horsepower involved back in them back when he jumped in there.

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_06

But I remember him. I was like, man, he is so quick in that mod. So it was really Gene. All right, now we know.

SPEAKER_09

So are you a two-footer or a one-footer? I'm a two-footer. I'm a two-footer. Fun fact BZ is a one-footer. He is? Yeah, what a weirdo. He only has one foot.

SPEAKER_06

Holy cow. He can only make one of them work. I didn't know that. No. I mean, I know he's a Packer fan, so he's all screwed up there, but it makes sense. No, he's a one-footer, man.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_06

So does he just have a flat pedal? Or does he have a regular racing pedal that he's got a regular racing?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, my God moves his foot. And our steering collar shaft goes right in between our feet, so he's got to go up and around. It's really starting to put some things in perspective. I'm like, he should try driving with two feet.

SPEAKER_04

He is cooked. You are ducked. Wait until I come get them stick. Are they going to be right side or well?

SPEAKER_06

You gotta take a picture of that.

SPEAKER_04

I think he intentionally did that. It looks like it does boobies. It really does. Yeah. It's pretty good. Oh, that's funny. Who is your kryptonite?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Who is somebody that just if you're leading that that you race with um I guess it doesn't even have to be weekly, it could be anywhere, really. Like, who is your kryptonite on the racetrack?

SPEAKER_09

I'd say, I mean, Dylan Rafferty's got it going on. I mean, that's been a proven thing, and him and I just kind of have been having a rough go about it lately and had some fun down at I-55 with them. Rivals, I like that. Really like how much fun. Elaborates. Oh, you know. Drives down the track and tapping the left rear and spin them out. Oh. I mean, I was just repaying it from Arizona from earlier in the year when he dumped me leading.

SPEAKER_04

So it is what did he get to the black flag?

SPEAKER_09

Oh, yeah, and he got his spot back. Oh.$1,500 to win. Yeah, that was not a rough one. Two laps to go or three laps to go.

SPEAKER_04

So you went home with no money, no points.

SPEAKER_09

Well, I still got money.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, did you? Yeah.

SPEAKER_09

I think technically it was yellow, but they did ask me to get off the track.

SPEAKER_04

Right on. Right on. That's a long trip home. But you know what? That's 55. That place is cool, though.

SPEAKER_09

It was crazy. The first night it was glass slick and then they put too much water on it. And I mean, I was down up to my knee in ruts by the time we went out there. It was crazy. Wow.

SPEAKER_04

Was it just you guys were we guys a support for another?

SPEAKER_09

We were support for the UMP mods and the what were the other ones? The UMP sport mods. Oh, right. For their big bash or whatever it is.

SPEAKER_02

Mod Bash. I've been there to watch a sprint car race and it's nuts. That place is wild. You think they're gonna come right through the fence. Yeah. It's it's pretty crazy. Nice facility, though. It's really cool to watch races. Like I love watching races at that place. But we used to we used to uh rip on the old PS2 on the I-55 too. Oh hey, I got a PS2 and I got another copy of World of Outlaws Sprint Cars for that bad boy for the new BD BDE HQ headquarters.

SPEAKER_04

Oh bug.

SPEAKER_06

We're never leaving, we're never leaving that place. Especially if Jay Jason Van Sickle is gonna give us an argument.

SPEAKER_04

You know what? You guys uh yes, I can't wait to get to the question of the week. Uh but you guys I'll I'm I'm only a block and a half away. Yeah, so I'm gonna be there all the time. I'm gonna put a cod in there.

SPEAKER_06

I may never leave. My wife will be so happy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that that is, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I'm yeah, I'm really excited about that.

SPEAKER_02

Um I want to go to tell us about what you got. Did you get your first win in a mod light or a stock car?

SPEAKER_09

Uh I actually got my first one in a mod light, but it was uh taken away from me. I let all the uh it was a harvest hustle. That was the first one I let every lap. And then uh got DQ'd on that one, and then I think the next week fixed what was DQ'd and went to Marshtown and got it.

SPEAKER_06

What was the DQ?

SPEAKER_09

Uh it was some antics. So you were trying something? No, something was okayed before someone else became tech and then it was deemed illegal. Oh. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. That was back when the club was a club and that stuff was able to be done.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_09

So I'm all a fan for IMCA now. Alright. Keeps accountability. Well, did I see that there's gonna be some Mad Crap?

SPEAKER_06

Yep. Some what was that?

SPEAKER_09

We brought back the that was the old club. Uh everyone used to buy into it, uh, do like uh points fun.

SPEAKER_06

Mid America Dwarf Car Racing Association? I believe so. I think that was the name of it.

SPEAKER_09

We brought that back this year, just kind of bring some camaraderie around and have a good time.

SPEAKER_06

So what's what is that all about? What's is there like dues?

SPEAKER_09

Is it uh this year we're not doing dues. Uh it was all uh volunteer and fundraise. So I think we're up to like five grand or something like that for paying out the top twenty. So a point a point fund per se and it's only for Boone Marshtown. Okay for basically just trying to keep it local. Alright.

SPEAKER_02

So that's a good chunk of change to give it back to change drivers between two tracks. That's pretty awesome. Yeah, it is. Well, because Ben George had texted me about you know the club coming back and and some of the stuff, and they'd raised some money, and I kept seeing you know, posts on social media like, oh, we got another five hundred bucks, got another two hundred bucks, got it whatever. So that's pretty awesome to see that that point fund is up to five grand. That's very cool.

SPEAKER_04

That's crazy. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I like it. I like it.

SPEAKER_09

I like it. It's pretty cool. I like it too. You don't see any other classes out there doing that. No, that's it. That's too cutthroat. I mean we try to, I mean, everyone's a little cutthroat at in our club, but we're still just trying to be back how it used to be, just kind of be civil to everyone and so I've no so I used to check you guys, you know this.

SPEAKER_06

I checked you guys in at Boone. I don't do that anymore. Jennifer's doing that now. But and of course you get to talk to Sarah now. But you said something about you guys aren't as abr abrasive as what you said earlier. I think you were meaning on the track, and I was gonna say, well, at the window they are. They're a bunch of assholes. I don't know if you know that. Well, not really, because I have found out over the years that you guys are a pretty tit tight knit group.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, and we got we gotta be. I mean, we're a small club, like mod lights are small on the grand schemes, IMCA, like it's just I mean, it's growing, but there's a lot of other clubs out there of the mod lights that have taken themselves out of being at the racetracks because they did get to that point. They're just too much, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and you guys kind of, you know, a lot of those guys will kind of all park together in the corner of the north field or whatever, and then then or if they're not parked over there after the races, everybody's together drinking beers and there's crock pots going and you know, and it's like a group within the group. Yeah, kinda.

SPEAKER_09

There is. I mean, it's all just supposed to be bringing your family, having fun, and at the end of the day, that's why we're there, not there to make money.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and I think a lot of guys, you know, can take something from that, you know. Like like you said, it does get other classes do get pretty cutthroat, and I mean everybody wants to win and you have a twenty to sixty thousand dollar race car that you don't want to tear up, right?

SPEAKER_09

And um, don't get me wrong, we're still that way, but on the track, but usually shut it off pretty good and just have a good time. Yep. It does all parking.

SPEAKER_02

You just need to start having potlucks at the sixty nine. I I bring my there'd be three people there.

SPEAKER_04

Bullshit of the hell you guys all come down to eat at Supernational, so no you do have a big pot. Well it's not me, but the Van Eaton rope, but everybody involved with the Supernational's party. Uh you know.

SPEAKER_06

That is one of my favorite parts of Supernationals. Just because I see your face, I'm like, oh, they're bringing food. The food. And it's really good. Right. Well, really good.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it is. It's been really good. That's been such a big thing, like an awesome thing for the last few years. It's been a lot of fun.

SPEAKER_06

Yep. Todd's the one that got me to put uh actually I did peaches, but in my baked beans.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah? Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I saw apples at Stuart one night. He had apple pie filling in the baked beans. I was like, what the hell are you doing? He's like, taste them. One bite changed my life. Really good.

SPEAKER_02

So you okay, hang on. So you put what in a apple pie filling in the fellow. I understand, but what did you put? Peach pie filling. Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. No shit. Peach pie filling and baked beans. So good. And then on the smoker, of course. Right. Naturally. Right. Yeah. You gotta chop the peaches up a little bit. They they can't be too big. It'll mess it all up. Yeah, that's wild.

SPEAKER_02

So what I guess outside of racing, Austin, like that that bleeds me to this. Like, Josh likes to cook stuff and like he'll send me pictures of stuff he made and unsolicited meat picks. Yeah. A lot of those. Unsolicited meat picks. They're different than what Jonathan's sending me. Correct. Yeah. Speaking of that, babe says hi. Hey, babe. So what do you, I guess, outside of the racing, like what kind of talk to the people, listeners, viewers, like what does Austin Grade do like besides drive race cars? And drink twisted teas.

SPEAKER_09

I do like me some teas. Oh, I deer hunt, fish, and work. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

What do you do for a living?

SPEAKER_09

Uh I do my own uh excavating and demolition.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_09

Yep. Gotta do something to pay for it. Right?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. That's a good and it's a good write-off, right?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, well, that's hard to justify, but yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Tax man doesn't like some of it. What was it? Who was it you said said they write off the fuel in the trucking business? I remember you said that on a on a recent podcast. Probably sour members. Oh, I was sour. Yeah, yeah. Yep. Yep. Yep. An old mod light guy. Yeah. Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's a convert. Yep. So Yep.

SPEAKER_06

Do you uh do you see yourself ever getting out of the Mod Light or you just having fun in it?

SPEAKER_09

Oh, I like it. I mean, I can't justify it anymore. It's too expensive to I'm self-funded, so that's just too expensive to go just as fast or go slower.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. What's how about goals?

SPEAKER_09

Like do you is the is there one race you want to win? Is there I'd love to win supernationals or win a national title, but tried for it last year and come up short. Not by much.

SPEAKER_06

No. I mean it was close. Two points. Couple things. And it's it's tough, you know. You don't think about it in April or May, you know, it something little, you know, maybe may maybe make a big difference at the end of the year.

SPEAKER_09

But Yep, and I mean we weren't going for it, and that's a hard pill for me to swallow, is all I was going for is a track and a state championship and align the stars started aligning and then went to all four at the end of it and made a big swing, but still couldn't get it done.

SPEAKER_02

So at that point, do you start looking at the schedule? I know we've talked to some other people about it. Look at the schedule and go, okay, alright, I'm gonna be at 30 nights or whatever it is, like, so we have to go here, here, like to try and get to that point while you're still while you're still trying to get your weekly bonus stuff.

SPEAKER_09

Well, that's the thing, is we just don't have like in the middle of the week racing. I mean, we have a Friday, Saturday, we don't have a Sunday anywhere. I mean, so you're giving up something local to go somewhere else, but you have to have a track championship to win it. So it's kind of a give and take.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, and the Boone track championship, much like probably Marshalltown, those are pretty important because of the car counts.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, yeah. And I mean, realistically, if I was to redo it, I should have done Marshalltown and went somewhere else on Saturdays, but I can't leave Boone. It's fun. Well, for now, until you guys start changing the lineup.

SPEAKER_06

Hey, you never know until you try. You don't you may love it. Oh, I know.

SPEAKER_09

I'm not gonna lie.

SPEAKER_06

When you guys I've heard a lot of modlight guys say, give us a slick track. Well, if you're going first every day, are you asking?

SPEAKER_04

We're tired of towners. We're tired of you guys getting to go home first early. Like when the races started early, you guys are home by like 8 15.

SPEAKER_09

I usually am able to make it to Tekka in time.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Go get some Mexican food. Yeah. Taco Libre and a lime.

SPEAKER_06

Well, those crock pots are gonna become more important when they're the last class of the night. That's true, yes.

SPEAKER_02

We're just trying to juice up the camaraderie of the Mac.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, Zee might have to pull his right foot over and hit the switch.

SPEAKER_02

Well, should we go to another break here on that? And then uh when we come back, we'll get into some of this other hijing stuff.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, we got some stuff, yeah. So yeah.

SPEAKER_02

All right, we'll send it off to a break to Logue Fab and P1P Canopy. You've been watching Watermelons and Woodchip. We'll be right back.

We got a little live going on.

SPEAKER_04

Live going on. Shit, hold on, I need to get the timer on.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, we're going.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, so this is weird. And the people, they just got a little peek behind the curtain there. Garrett was running over to turn off the furnace. We had a lot of shit going on here.

SPEAKER_02

So we had eight hundred and eighty-one entries. Yes. A lot. Eight hundred and eighty one entries. Barn burner, boys. Barn burner. Yep. Um, and then well, it was more than that because some people had some people got in double. Yeah, some people had double. So I yeah, we had to be over a thousand then. Yep. So awesome. So it was quite the deal for us to figure out how we were gonna do this. We basically took all the copied every single comment in one shot and dumped it into Chat GPT for the the randomizer through there.

SPEAKER_06

And uh chat actually takes into account when somebody shares it. Like it did a lot of work behind the scenes. I kind of messed around with it not at work before I went to work today. Uh and uh yeah, I messed around with it a little bit and kind of figured it out. So it's really badass that you're able to take all this great feedback. Like we appreciate everybody clicking on the post at all. Um, the fact that you were liking it, you know, subscribing to the YouTube page and all of it. So well, and this isn't where this ends, not at all.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, we've got a lot of cool things uh coming up in the near future for watermelons and wood chips here. Um so stay tuned. Stay tuned. Uh uh keep watching them, watching what we got going on here because we got a lot of like some really yeah.

SPEAKER_06

This was the first one. Right, right.

SPEAKER_04

This is and which is a really cool one. Which this was simple, which everybody probably thinks that the Boon Speedway is just giving this pit pass. But uh Watermelons and Wood Chips is we're we are purchasing this pit pass from the racetrack and giving it to uh the lucky winner here.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Yeah, it's it's pretty cool and and you guys engaged in like so. Then obviously, like I said, we got some more stuff in the works because we're like, man, this is pretty cool. Like being able to to give back to the people that pay attention to what we're doing and and participating in what we're what we're trying to do. Um and with uh like I said, with our uh new studio that we're gonna be building here in a couple weeks, it's gonna be even more entertaining, I think.

SPEAKER_06

So we're gonna find some really cool ways to do some cool stuff and you know, have more people on and and just just continue to engage with the racing community. It's just really cool. We all three have a passion for it, obviously. Um so yeah.

SPEAKER_04

It's getting close, man. It is. You want to know?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, somebody just say it. Can I tell you? Yeah, it is not Austin Gray. Not a bummer.

SPEAKER_09

This is rigged.

SPEAKER_06

Uh no, our big winner for the Pit Pass is Kale Kramer. Um, Kale, none of us know who you are.

SPEAKER_02

We appreciate you.

SPEAKER_06

Absolutely appreciate you, and uh, we will be doing a little bit of a dive afterwards to figure out who you are. We'll message you, we'll figure out how to get together on all this. Um, but we've got some other stuff to give away too.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. So, Kale, if you are, and whoever else, like I said, whoever else wins some of the stuff. But uh, you know, we we uh had talked to some people about well, it started when we were in um at the trade show. Yep. About people sending some stuff to us, and we got a few other things that a couple of the manufacturers are like, we're gonna send you a box of stuff, and you just have to open it. Like the John Gruden unboxing on Barstool or whatever, like or like what Portnoy used to do during COVID, right? Like they're like, We're gonna send you some stuff and you just have to open it. Like, no questions asked.

SPEAKER_06

Right. Who's sending the thong? I can't remember. They said Jonathan had to wear it.

SPEAKER_02

I think it was Wears. Was it Weirs? Yeah, Chad Wear Sweethead. I bet so. Yeah, Chad Weirs. Yeah, we're not sure what Chad's gonna send, but he said he's sending a box of some stuff for Jonathan.

SPEAKER_09

I hope it has some uh leopard skin on it.

SPEAKER_02

But uh yeah, Cale Kramer wins that, but we do have some stuff from our boy Billy at Dirt Defender. Um you know, pulse innovations, uh the the tear off, um, the tear-off deal that you put on your helmet so that you don't rip them off. Have you ever done that before? Just taking the whole stack off? No, I don't because I have one of those on.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, really pisses a guy off when you rip the whole thing off the page.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you need a you need a you need a pulse. That's right. You also did not win, you're not on that. That's right.

SPEAKER_06

You're you didn't even make the runner-ups, so used to it.

SPEAKER_02

And this actually, this one actually works out because this guy does drive a race car.

SPEAKER_06

Really?

SPEAKER_02

For this one. Yeah, I guess he does. Yes. So Braden Farney won the pulse.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So Braden, reach out to us or we'll get a hold of you.

SPEAKER_04

We have a pulse uh tear-off um deal for you from our friends at uh Pulse and It's actually just a real easy way to get you to come to the Boom Speedway and spend money. Uh if you'd like to pick that up, you can go ahead and come next this Saturday.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, yeah, you gotta pick these up in person. Otherwise, you're completely ineligible.

SPEAKER_02

Right. And then uh he also sent a pulse racing t-shirt. We should probably just pull this out. Yeah, you might as well. We should pull it out.

SPEAKER_05

Yep.

SPEAKER_04

It's a unique color.

SPEAKER_02

It's pretty cool. Yeah, I got one of these off of them. Yeah, salmon. I got one of these off of them at uh Supernationals. Okay. But yeah, Pulse Racing Innovations t-shirt. Oh, these are soft. Yeah, these are the nice ones. Those are nice shirts. These are the nice ones.

SPEAKER_06

You should get some of them.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I know. Well, we're working on that program. So next one we we do have to, um, when we do our next giveaway, we definitely are gonna get some infield tire assassin t-shirts and the hay budget race. Yeah. So money collector wins. Yeah. So um the winner of the t-shirt is Nicole Vasky Bollinger. So, Nicole, you won the Pulse T-shirt, and then Braden Farney wins the Pulse tear-off attachment, and then Cale Kramer wins the week-long Pit Pass at Supernational.

SPEAKER_06

So very cool.

SPEAKER_04

For our first live, for our first live event. That's pretty cool. How many people are tuned in?

SPEAKER_02

Uh 131 right now. Yeah. Nice. So we're gonna, like we said, we're gonna continue to do stuff like this. Um we do have some cool stuff that we're gonna do.

SPEAKER_04

It is, yeah. And the only way you can win is if you play. That's right. I mean, so uh appreciate everybody jumping on and uh getting on our Facebook live feed first time here over at the den. Uh I'm gonna say the next time our next giveaway is gonna be over at the studio. Yep.

SPEAKER_06

Um might be a good that'd be a good opportunity, just kind of a welcome, welcome to the studio kind of I I agree with that, Josh.

SPEAKER_04

I think that'll be really good.

SPEAKER_05

Yep.

SPEAKER_04

Uh looking for you to uh hot laps this Saturday at 2 p.m. They're racing for a thousand to win. We're still gonna get that frostbuster money this weekend, don't worry.

SPEAKER_06

Uh frostbuster prices regular season pay. That's right. Does that work? Uh sounds about right.

SPEAKER_04

Sounds about what you guys would do, yeah. Uh gonna debut the the the cheeseburgers, uh, however, Stuart Speedway gonna kick their season off. 65th anniversary season at Stewart International Speedway Wednesday night. Wednesday night, yep. Um Mike and them and the gang uh looks like they've been doing some work down there getting that place uh shaped up and might be a little windy on the way down, but it sounds like it's gonna turn into a good night for ever racing their well Tony Paris will be there, so it'll be windy.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, it'll be windy. I'm just messing with you, Tony. Tony. Yeah. No, it's I'll be there. I'm gonna be helping Kristen uh get her feet underneath her and um yeah, and then I'll be game on for Boone on Saturday, and hopefully the weather cooperates.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it doesn't look very good for Marshalltown again. They're kind of back on the course for the rainy it's been like that for the last few years for them. Yeah, I know. It really sucks. Um but kind of is what it is at this point. I mean, what do you do?

SPEAKER_02

Should we stay live and go into our Moffitt's mayhem at this point? So Moffitt's Ford mayhem. I I guess would be I don't know, in my mind, my pick, I guess, would be the five inches of rain that we got. Plus, I mean, personally for us, the whole week was Moffat's Mayhem. I mean, trying to get that fiber in. And uh those guys did an awesome job. I mean, it was literally raining while trying to put stuff in the ground and Kramer Service Group, by the way.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah that is that is the name of the company that did the work for us, and they did they did a great job. Um but yeah, it's no kidding, and it's almost like every year feels like that, like the week leading up to the first race. There's like the headaches that you didn't think you were gonna have, and all the stuff that you gotta make sure you're you have ready, and it's almost like once it gets here, it's like you can kind of breathe and let's just race. We know how to do that. You know, we know how to do all the other stuff, it's just it's everything that leads up to it, and um yeah, it's kind of nice to just get some cars on the track.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, the the racing is the easy part, you know, as far as that stuff goes. And um, like I said, I feel like the whole week was just uh was a Moffitt's mayhem segment all all week long for for us. I don't know if you saw anything else that you would throw out uh racing wise, but just the rain.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I mean that's it, really. I mean, I couldn't I mean it rained for you know thirty-six hours. It seemed like off and on and downpour and flooded a lot of areas, a lot of yards and whatnot. But you know what's good for mushroom hunting. So I'm not complaining.

SPEAKER_06

Grass is pretty green. I know. Grass is green.

SPEAKER_04

I was telling Hank told Hank this morning, I said, Boy, it sure turned everything green. It looks good, feels good, springs around the corner. Um, tomorrow's gonna suck. It's gonna be cold again and kind of shitty, but then uh Wednesday, maybe we'll get a little bit of that sunshine and 70.

SPEAKER_06

70. Yeah, we'll take it. Take it. Gotta get stuff ready. You gotta go do some excavation, some tearing up some stuff, right? It's been a long winter. A little hard ready for it. Hard to do in the snow and the muds. Oh yeah. Yeah. You're ready. Well, you got a big job brewing, or you just take what comes?

SPEAKER_09

Takes what comes, but I got some stuff on the books already for the spring and just kind of waiting for things to finally the frost is out, but then we get hammered with all this rain. So it's kind of the waiting game. It's part of it. Yep. Yep.

SPEAKER_06

Before you know it, it'll be 95 degrees and 80% humidity. Yeah. The fun stuff.

SPEAKER_02

Gee, your phone just went off and it said Ivan Logue's trying to add you on Snapchat.

SPEAKER_06

Of course he is. Well, he's getting ready for prom, but.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, oh, he's getting ready for prom. He's getting ready for prom. Had that little talk with him. He'll like to talk. No.

SPEAKER_06

He just looked a little extra red when you were asking him who he was going to prom with or talking about who he was going to with. Some chick from Iowa Falls, that's all I know. Pulling him in from deep. See, he likes to fish too. He's going fishing, that's why he's trying to add G. Well, he doesn't get advice from his dad, or what the hell?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but they're just usually, you know, did you have those cookie milk talks with your dad about that? Or were you just uh No.

SPEAKER_06

Well my dad was farming. We didn't have hardly any talks.

SPEAKER_03

I was getting my ass chewed for not doing something, I suppose. That's probably part of the course we're Ivan too.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, right, yeah, right. I feel that's why Ivan and I connected, see? I knew it. I could feel it was all over food. That is Yeah. And we gotta talk about the question.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Dude. Elmquiston question of the week. So we threw the reason we threw this out is because we're trying to get ideas for the studio, right? So like uh the question was who's got a racing-related man cave or shop or um bar area? But we had quite a few cool ones.

SPEAKER_06

You pulled Abby Llewellyn out of the damn cobwebs.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I'm I was so pumped to see that that was still, you know, just because they just got out of the racing world and just kind of I've ran into Clint a few times at uh the old mudders down there in Minburn, you know.

SPEAKER_06

Under new management. I saw that on the way up here. Yep, had a little sign out front bought by I can't remember what it said. Trying to pull people back in that the old guy pissed off.

SPEAKER_02

Was that Hank's relation that bought that one? Because I thought they said the bar was in Minburn.

SPEAKER_06

It could have been.

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah. Because Hank left after practice to go to Minburn to the bar. Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Well, I'll have to I'll have to see check out the name of it. Definitely.

SPEAKER_04

I definitely that was an eyebrow lifter for me when I seen her post. Yep. You know, and it was also a little jagger in the dagger for the old Bob Cat because I he took my first two time from me. And I'm telling you, hell of a race.

SPEAKER_06

I know she's gonna find it someday, but she has a video of her in the infield when you are coming out of turn four under him and he crosses. Like it is it's it's an amazing thing.

SPEAKER_04

I've seen the cat walk video that they have and everything. Like it's a really it's a super cool thing. It's uh the in the infield. That's one of my best that's one of my best high and low in a matter of from here to there. A thousand feet. Yeah, or whatever it is, you know. From but good race, clean race. Oh, yeah, well deserved. Yeah. But because I'd been on both sides of it too, you know. Right. Like when you're in the infield and you're thinking about that, it's like wow, the Louellands.

SPEAKER_06

That's it. Yeah. The Llewellyn's, one of the good families, one of the good groups, and that's period. I mean, it's one of those deals where I know when I drive by there, if the lights are on, I could stop and hang out. Like they're just cool people. Abby, she does our insurance for us. Like, they're just they're really good people. So yeah, I was pumped to see that. I'm like, maybe there's some hope. Maybe maybe we'll see.

SPEAKER_04

I admired some of the posts in on the question of that were like, it's not much, and you can tell it's like they just moved in to where they're at or whatever, and they got a little setup going on, and I'm like, Yeah, been there, you know, like you're just trying to get shit set up. But it's awesome. Yeah, yeah. Van Sickle, I didn't realize like yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Jason's stuff is cool. That was awesome.

SPEAKER_04

Very cool.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And and just the silhouette of the car and the uh pinball machines. Yes. Very, very, very cool.

SPEAKER_06

Somewhere there is an electrician nerd going, oh my god, it's my dream man cave.

SPEAKER_04

Didn't see one burnout light in the whole place.

SPEAKER_02

Well, he learned his lesson because he about burnt the place down the first time. Yeah. That's right. That's right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but uh, you know, like I said, some of those were super cool. Like Wesley Wise's was pretty cool. Like he had like kind of an old, like an old old saloon bar.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, with the poles on it and stuff.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and had like the late model die cast in the background and the and yeah. So yeah, we are gonna steal you some of your guys' ideas off of those pictures. Yeah, absolutely. Um but like I said, I'm just pumped because I have so much and my wife's gonna be super pumped too because I can get that shit out of the house. Yeah, oh yeah. So it's gonna be awesome.

SPEAKER_04

My one little three foot by two foot tote is not gonna go far, but well, when you asked the guy if we could hang stuff on the walls, and I'm thinking, okay, dude, we're not talking like ten nails, we're talking like ten thousand feet. Yeah. And I'm thinking there's gonna be a lot of stuff.

SPEAKER_06

I'm thinking body panels, like I got all kinds of stuff going through my head.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, what are the what are the studs like in here? Are these two by six? Well, that building was built in 1916. Josh is bringing the block out of his car that he claimed the motor in. Yeah. Right.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Well, we just gotta have room for one of those machines. We gotta see if Jason can fix this one up or we can do uh we can do a horse trade deal or something, or get one on loan.

SPEAKER_06

There's a long hallway. I can just picture that thing lined with with all kinds of stuff. So yeah, it's pretty cool.

SPEAKER_02

But I just want to find, yeah, we were just talking about the old days when we were in high school, we'd go to spills and play silver strike bowling every day during lunch. And so if one of those fits in there, yeah, my productivity level was already bad. Yeah, but it's going in the shit right now.

SPEAKER_06

Right. The squirrel is going bowling. Yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, we do have a window up there, so you guys might see somebody drives by. Who's that? Who's that?

SPEAKER_06

Who's in the building?

SPEAKER_02

But uh no, that like I said, we do appreciate everybody like jumping in on this um, the giveaway and um participating in this stuff because we do have we're close to another goal. Yes, we are on Facebook.

SPEAKER_06

Yes, we are. Yeah, we hit 5,000 uh followers on Facebook. You're gonna see three handlebar, well, yeah, handlebar mustaches, right?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. You guys now disincluded Garrett?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, because I said they're gonna see.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah, we that's a good one. We're gonna see one. Yeah. We got old Patches Hootland over here in the center. We're gonna have Josh has probably never cut a handlebar zone. I only do it for deer hunting. So, but I I mean I'm it doesn't really bother.

SPEAKER_06

I don't have a ball chin, so I think I'm alright. I got a butt chin. Yeah, Garrett's got one too, don't you?

SPEAKER_02

Garrett's like, do I have he's sitting there trying to figure out?

SPEAKER_06

We're gonna find out. His is extra red though, so yeah, it's it's gonna be something. I can't wait. I bet if I tell Colton, he can grow one in like two days. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Well, yeah, Colton grew a beard at like 11. Uh-huh. Uh yeah. Anyway, this whole thing, uh, really want to thank everybody that that got in on this once again. Uh you know, go and if you haven't subscribed, well, you should have subscribed, you know, because of this now. But uh it's gonna be just like we said, stay tuned. Uh pay attention to our Facebook page, all of our platforms really uh get on there and check those out. Uh Austin, really want to thank you for coming on here and uh you know giving us some ins and the outs on the dwarf car. We're really hoping that you might be be giving us the butt they are the dwarf cars. It's the dwarf cars to me because that's what I grew up on. Now I know you started with them when they started transitioning into the mod lights. They are fully mod lights. But remember, if you don't do the finger dance, it's an extra five at the pit game next time, right?

SPEAKER_06

Hey, hang on. You guys brought Mad Cur back. Yeah, it has dwarf car right in the damn name.

SPEAKER_02

So hey you are very careful.

SPEAKER_06

I'm just saying. It doesn't say it's not Mid America Mod Light.

SPEAKER_04

Well, that's already in the 2026 rules of shit. So your huddle at this point means nothing because it's in there for the whole season.

SPEAKER_02

So um you, yeah, that's a very good idea.

SPEAKER_06

I'm just thinking, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, we didn't make up the rules, we're just following them.

SPEAKER_06

I'm just saying, Troy Shute would definitely approve of the message I just delivered. So uh hopefully he heard it.

SPEAKER_02

He probably did the face of that. He may have. Oh man. Well, um, we do hey, you did list them all out. I didn't have to guess this time. But uh Central Iowa Diesel Performance, they've been on with us since the jump of this deal, and Jed and those guys have been super supportive. Um, been our presenting sponsor the whole time. Yep. So, like, I was in there the other day and I I told his guy, I'm like, we're gonna come in here and do a sh a show from in here one of these days. He's like, Oh man, we got shit everywhere. But I'm like, That's great. That's what we're gonna do. We'll find a spot. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Just put us right in the middle of the mayhem. We can it'll be no problem.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. Maybe we should talk to Charlie too. Maybe we do one out there. Oh, I yeah, absolutely. He'd be all over that struggle with it, yeah. Yep, go see Elmquist. Yeah, Elmquist would be cool, yeah. Um, you know, Jake, I I do have to give a shout out to Jake um at Elmquist Doeing. So, and I forgot to talk about this the last time, but when we went to um we were on vacation at the Ozarks with the kids and uh had a guy call me and our our um call our wrestling coach that runs the the kids program for us, he's a cyclone RTC wrestler and had an issue with his truck and I c I was gone, obviously. And so I called Jake, I'm like, hey, like uh I'm trying to figure out a way to help our dude out, and he's like, just tell me where he's at. So he went and they went and helped him out and got him towed over to where he needed to go to to fix up his stuff. So it was it was pretty pretty cool. I mean they're just trying to help people out and and Jake and those guys are.

SPEAKER_04

They're real good at helping you out when you park in the uh snow restricted areas during the snow plowing thing, but they are really nice people. Yeah, they're just doing their job, so don't be too big a dick too.

SPEAKER_02

Lounge. Um you know, John jumping on with us is awesome, off it's Ford, um performance bodies, um doing our helping us out with our trophies, and you get a fifty dollar gift card to performance bodies when you win. So if you win that first one, you get a fifty dollar gift card to performance bodies.

SPEAKER_06

So and you get to do a one lap uh walking interview with us around the racetrack with a drone chasing us around. So is there uh smoke breaks or breath breaks? Just smoke the whole time. It'll be fine. Yeah. I'm sure Bobcat will have one. I'm done sharing. Or two. I said or two. You not sharing. Oh. And I didn't say Jerry, we're talking about Austin here, he's your boy.

SPEAKER_05

All right.

SPEAKER_06

Plus he's plus he's called dwarf cars now. He he's a team Zmer.

SPEAKER_04

As long as you keep referring as dwarf cars, we'll be good.

SPEAKER_02

He'll share smokes if you if you identify as a dwarf car, he will share smokes. That's right. Performance bodies, obviously Log fabrication, P1P canopy, um, and then Barntown uh Barntown Brewing jumping on with us um to help push this beer out. Um so yeah, we'll have beer ready to go this weekend and uh yeah, get it while it's hot or cold.

SPEAKER_06

I should say.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, get it while it's cold. So yeah, we'll have a we have a short run that they did for us starting um to get us hopefully through April, but I don't know. I don't know if we're gonna make it through there, but they said if we get into an emergency, they'll help us out.

SPEAKER_06

So I don't see it lasting through April, but we'll see.

SPEAKER_02

And I am pretty excited. So we Jonathan probably doesn't know this yet, but we did get invited to go down when they do the next run in May. To go see it, get labeled and see the old Thelma and Louise deal going on.

SPEAKER_06

And we'll have lunch there because their food is amazing. It's great. Of course you would know that, Josh. Absolutely, I do. I've beaten there too. It's amazing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, good food. Yeah. So I don't have anything else. You guys got anything else? We just race, hopefully racing this weekend, obviously.

SPEAKER_04

Yep, and thanks to everybody.

SPEAKER_06

Right. Remember, Pitgate's open at two o'clock.

SPEAKER_04

Hot laps at four.

SPEAKER_06

We're we're on regular time now. Well, we're sorry. We're not summertime yet. So we're five and six. Yes. So we're hot laps at five, racing at six. Why don't we keep that all year?

SPEAKER_02

Well it just gets it gets tough.

SPEAKER_06

Like more sun's not as good when it's hot. Like we want to try. An hour doesn't make or break it. It it definitely changes things. It does.

SPEAKER_02

Because it makes it so a little bit more and I like to race when the like the sun's down, so you can turn like getting the lights on.

SPEAKER_09

I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I don't know.

SPEAKER_09

Don't you like I like getting home at a nice time.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you like to go to L Azteca and get there get there before the street lights go in. He's still working on that. He's one race first. I'll put the tall for it.

SPEAKER_09

I need that left side drive. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So I don't know. I like I said, I like I like having the lights on for the features. I d uh I don't I don't know.

SPEAKER_06

Like I said, I'm just I do think we'll open the pits at three. It's it says three thirty on MRP. We're we usually the first night we try to open a little bit earlier to try to get more people to doing all the kids uh you know minor registrations and all that stuff. So um yeah, we'll probably open the gates open a little bit earlier.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah. So hopefully, like I said, I think theory's gonna have good weather on Wednesday. Hopefully it stays that way through the rest of the week and we can go there's nobody got anything going on on Thursday.

SPEAKER_06

I thought I know it.

SPEAKER_04

Marshtown into Boone. Should be fingers crossed. Hopefully, hopefully it doesn't rain a shit ton in Marshtown can get uh get a race in and and and boon as well. I mean Saturday's looking more favorable than Friday, but I hope so. I want to go over and rip on the Marshtown. I didn't get it to make it to practice.

SPEAKER_09

So I heard it's gonna rubber up in like 20 laps.

SPEAKER_04

It's gonna be good. You know, I I don't th the first of the season is gonna be I think it's gonna be really good because the track everything's settled all year. It's like it's like the spring. Like it's just gonna it's gonna be good racing. Yeah, I think it's gonna be good racing. Uh Stuart, it's gonna be good racing just because we are racing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you know, everybody's gonna be excited. Right. That first nine years are gonna be crunched. It's gonna be yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I'm hoping I make it out with not nothing on my car. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Make it make it through for a clean weekend.

SPEAKER_04

Right. Yeah. Right. All you gotta do is change gear. That'd be good, that'd be a good weekend. And that backwards.

SPEAKER_09

It can only take you ten minutes if you're a quick change. He's gonna work on you all here on that. Yeah. He can sell quick changes. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I I know, but gosh.

SPEAKER_09

You'd still be able to make all the brackets for it because it's gotta be OEM.

SPEAKER_04

I still make all the brackets. It's just I build our own rear end, you know. Like I don't know, it's a double edge. I'm I'm I like both of them. I really do.

SPEAKER_09

But here's a here's a great question. Everyone's been asking me to bring it up. Who who do I gotta pay to have a farm for our supernational since we're the only one that doesn't get it?

SPEAKER_06

Uh I know who you gotta talk to. Yeah. I don't know about paying anybody. I don't I don't know if that'll get you anywhere, but um Yeah, it's a good question.

SPEAKER_09

Well, only class out there with their main dance that doesn't get a farm anymore. You know, I think that that's fair. Do the so the compacts get a farm? I'm pretty sure they do.

SPEAKER_03

Hold on, they're pretty sure they don't be looking at you. They're all looking at you.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, because they thought that I knew the answer, and I'm pretty sure they run I'm pretty sure they run a couple of B mains like always, which would be the same for mod lights. But I could be completely wrong, but I'm I'm not a hundred percent sure. Yeah. I mean, I I honestly don't know.

SPEAKER_02

That whole week goes into a blur.

SPEAKER_09

We did the first couple years, but then it went away.

SPEAKER_06

Did you guys did you guys fuck it up? Maybe that those first couple years? I don't know. I'm just saying, hey, they make good notes. Yeah, I mean, I'm just saying.

SPEAKER_09

Well, the bad thing is is we're tippy anyways, so you get a bunch of out of towners that don't know Boone, that have raced Boone only one time at Supernationals. They kind of now everyone hold on not one time.

SPEAKER_04

Now they've been there all week. What do you get? Two days? Three days.

SPEAKER_09

No, what I'm getting at is when we first started come to Supernationals. So now everyone's kind of got a notebook of okay, we need to be moving J bars up and yeah, so definitely since you guys have a notebook, we'll go ahead and change that this year. Oh, you guys already have.

SPEAKER_04

Perfect.

SPEAKER_09

Day racing on a slick track. I love it.

SPEAKER_06

See, this is working. We keep them guessing.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, right? Yes. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

But see, last year you had we had rain on Sunday, so that screwed everything. I get that one. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yep. Yeah, that was. Yeah, you guys were just lucky we didn't cancel you. I figured you would. And I'm including me in on this because I'm trying to be tough about it. I'm just saying.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. Yep. You gotta have someone start on Supernationals.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, well. That's true. Yep. Yeah. I don't know. We knocking it in the head. Well, yeah, we uh to answer your question. We'll we'll we'll run it up, we'll run it up the flagpole and see what we can do.

SPEAKER_04

This is their favorite thing. Things do not fall on deaf ears around here. They don't. They don't. I know they don't. I I love it. It's just catchy. I'm just saying. Yeah. I'm telling Austin because he apparently he hasn't been watching. Apparently I've been watching.

SPEAKER_09

They let you uh tell everyone that we're changing lineup, so it's not that good. Good. I'm glad everybody's mad at me.

SPEAKER_06

You're only hearing one. I've only heard one person complain.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Weird mod like it.

SPEAKER_04

Yep, you guys are gonna run last every night, so you have no more tacos.

SPEAKER_06

Somebody gonna put their right foot on a left ear.

SPEAKER_02

Well, we gotta get, yeah, speaking of feed, we gotta get back to Zeeem and use his right foot. That's right.

SPEAKER_06

That's all he uses. That's right. Don't choose his left foot, he'll fall down.

SPEAKER_02

He's only got one foot. That's right. All right, we better wrap this up and getting out of control. Um, again, thank you to everybody for uh jumping in on all of our stuff, um, all of our sponsors that can continue to help us out and keep this deal moving. We appreciate it. Um, Austin Gray, obviously, thank you for putting up with us for an hour and 40 minutes. Well, that's just on air, so um longer than that. But we appreciate you coming in. Hopefully you had a good time with us.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, it was actually pretty fun.

SPEAKER_02

It was actually pretty fun. See? Yeah, he was.

SPEAKER_09

Expect the worst, hope for the best. That's right. That's right. That's all you can do. I have a feeling old Log's gonna feel other ways when he's uh can't pass in his heat race because it's first out there. Running a B. I'm fast in the mud. I cheat.

SPEAKER_04

He's a butter. I know I'm going first, boys.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna have the softest tires out there. Here comes a four-barrel. Hey, did you see the rack over there? Butter tires.

SPEAKER_04

There's only one over there. I'm gonna run that one off so you all right.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you guys for tuning in, obviously, on our live. Um, yeah, first time doing that. So we'll see.

SPEAKER_06

What is there? Like four people left here. There's no way they're still 35, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We've got a few stragglers. Hard course. Hard course. Thank you guys for tuning in as always. Um yeah, I guess next week we'll be we'll be back here, what, for two weeks, and then we'll be probably being the new bigs after that.

SPEAKER_06

Two more, yeah. Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so continue to watch, subscribe, share, like all the things. Tell your friends. Yep, tell your friends.

SPEAKER_06
