Quick update, guys. This is producer Garrett and I screwed up. I wasn't able to record the first segment of this show today. We talked about results of the Boon Speedway, which Cody will post on Facebook for you guys from last Saturday. Won't happen again. My apologies, but we will roll right into segment two with Todd and uh three as well after that.
SPEAKER_13Welcome back, RaceFans, Watermelons and Woodchips presented by Central Iowa Diesel Performance. Before we get to these guys, I really wanted to talk about we got to go to a little field trip this week.
SPEAKER_12Oh yeah. Oh my god. That was more than I expected it was gonna be. Like I just figured we'd show up and it wouldn't be this like I know their old brewery, like they were set up in Joaquin and it was attached to the restaurant. So it was I mean, it wasn't a whole lot bigger than what we have right here.
SPEAKER_13So it was pretty small.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, um, but yeah, we walked in the door and I was like, there's a shit ton of beer in this place, and they got her going as we're talking, and there's a pallet of action track ale sitting right in front of us.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Pallet. It's one of those things like they do at the Speedway on Saturday nights. They disincluded me from this.
SPEAKER_03Uh I don't know who brewed this, but it is actually pretty good.
SPEAKER_12Pretty good. And Todd's a bad. I mean, I'm a bushlight.
SPEAKER_03He doesn't like to venture away from Bushlight and the occasional Budweiser.
SPEAKER_12Todd's a connoisseur.
SPEAKER_03I still do the occasional Budweiser. Okay. One Trace ain't watching, but uh uh, you know. Yeah, so that's pretty good.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, our friends at Barntown Brewery. We went down because they wanted to. Oh, I gotta give them kudos. It's it's good. Yeah, so and I mean, how cool is Joe? Oh my god, he was awesome.
SPEAKER_12We did talk to him. Uh yeah, we're gonna get him on here.
SPEAKER_02I'm kind of a beer connoisseur. I know, I mean, I know good beer is. I wouldn't know who Joe is or where this Barntown is. I don't know where it's at either, but he's got it going on.
SPEAKER_03Barn of town. Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_13So I didn't realize that they had moved, right? And like I've been to the restaurant or yeah, the one shut off. Yeah. It's on the timer, I guess. But uh usually I've been to the restaurant before, but they sent us the address in in Grimes, and I'm like, that's like I thought they sent me the K1 speed address, but it's literally right next door to K1 speed, like the go-kart track. Yeah, the sheer wall. We roll in there, it's big warehouse, and they got pallets of beer stacked up, and they got the big Um fermenters and everything going on. It was cool. And then the brewmaster came over and he's like, What do you got?
SPEAKER_03I'm thirsty. We just had a piece of pizza. You've totally lost it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Okay. Well, I'm interested a little bit. Hey, that was Big Ray. It's actually pretty damn good. Man, I mean, it's I think, man, we might see that beer showing up down in Fontenelle. All right. I think we'll put it in the bar. Hell yeah.
SPEAKER_13We got a pallet of it.
SPEAKER_12Cody, you know a guy.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, that's right. We can get her down there. That could be arranged. Yes.
SPEAKER_12But Joe was cool. He took us in the lab. That was neat. Uh we didn't get to take any cameras in there. That was it was a top secret.
SPEAKER_03Top secret in place. Which I agree with that. But I'll tell you what, I've never seen It's like going into Logue Shop.
SPEAKER_12Yes, no cameras. Very close to the logo.
SPEAKER_03There's no cameras because we're working on aerodynamics. Right.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, it's basically a wind tunnel.
SPEAKER_12In the back room. In the back room, you know. That's where all the magic happens at local.
SPEAKER_02I don't know what it looks like at Barn Town.
SPEAKER_12I'm talking about at locale. Oh. Where it gets dark in there. It gets dark in there sometimes. It does.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It does. In the gray area.
SPEAKER_11That's right.
SPEAKER_03But uh no. Kind of like Malico Speedway.
unknownA little bit.
SPEAKER_11A little bit.
SPEAKER_13Right. Well, you know, I uh I that was fun to do that, and and Joe and those guys were awesome. Um we do have, I gotta get the footage from that put together so everybody can see kind of how that place operates. It was cool to when we talked to the brewmaster, he was Josh goes, what are you working on? And he's like, I got a little peach whip I'm trying to put together.
SPEAKER_12Peach whip sour. They're sour beers. I had never tried a sour beer. Somebody said that to me.
SPEAKER_03I've never had a sour beer.
SPEAKER_12I'm like, why would I want a beer that's sour?
SPEAKER_03Sour beer, I call that right.
SPEAKER_12But guess what?
SPEAKER_10It's been rolling around the back of the pickup for two months.
SPEAKER_12Jonathan can vouch for this though. It's not what you think. It's I would more just call it sweet beer. Like, but but their flavors it they have a peanut butter and jelly. There's one in the fridge. You take you take a drink. Listen to this. You take a drink and you taste the grape, and then you taste the peanut butter, and the last thing you taste is the bread. It is wild. No shit. It's no kid.
SPEAKER_03I think Buck would love that beer extra. You know why? Because Trace makes the best peanut butter and jelly sandwich you've ever ate. Really? Well, if you had a peanut butter and jelly sour to go along with it. Because me and Buck get tired of like ham sandwiches and shit. So she'll like mix it up with a peanut butter and jelly. And I mean, she'll put enough jelly on there for three sandwiches.
SPEAKER_12I knew I liked it.
SPEAKER_03And the peanut butter's thick enough at least for two.
SPEAKER_12Hell yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Buck, am I lying? I ain't lying. Buck a lot. Everybody wondering, Buck's sitting back there watching. He is he's keeping an eye on the operation.
SPEAKER_13So, hey, so let's get into to your story. Like, you know, we've obviously I met you through Jonathan. Yep. And uh you guys have have become really good friends with a lot of us and and uh a lot of fun to be around. You do a lot of stuff at the Supernationals to help with fan engagement and things like that. And uh, you know, let's start off like how you know, where did you get started? Why are you still in this crazy stuff?
SPEAKER_03Well, I I'm never gonna give it up, right. Until I can't do it. Or you know, right. But I'll I'll keep doing it even after I decide I can't do it. I'll still take Buck. I'll still go with the boys. But uh I started in '96. Good year. In a modified uh A mod. Uh went to our local track, which uh, as Matt Avila would say, we thought that was the only place to race. It's down in southern Iowa. And uh you can say it. Adams County Speedway. And uh I feel I wasted two-thirds to three-quarters of my career chasing a NASCAR deal. And I mean, we raced, I mean, then it was huge. Down there we had what 35, 40 cars back then. I mean, we're all running 383 strokers, 420s, 406s. I mean, just radical five-inch spoilers on tall hoosiers. I mean, you was flying. I mean, it was getting it. Right. And uh we're on like the mod light tires. Yeah. Oh, really? They're like a mod light tire. We were like on the mod light tires with spoilers. But they was big. I mean, like 86s.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, there was I mean, it was crazy. Four marrow. And I wouldn't say I wouldn't define it as wasted because the the the way I mean I I've been going since I was three in following Kaziskis and stuff, and we went over 60 some dirt tracks around doing the Bush Tour and and the Bush All-Star Tour, the NASCAR.
SPEAKER_03The only touring these guys probably don't even know what the Bush All-Star Tour was. Oh, yeah. Okay. And for us, like Bush All-Star Tour was actually the equivalent of, I believe, back then, Lucas or whatever being right here.
SPEAKER_10Yes, yeah, yeah. We had I mean they had I mean, because this we had separate cars. It was you had the Bush car and then you had the weekly car. And I I mean, you know, and these things were running all aluminum 430s and stuff back then. You know, we're talking early 90s.
SPEAKER_12About as expensive of a race car as gonna as you're gonna get. I mean, it wasn't a big thing.
SPEAKER_10Oh, yeah, they was a top tier. This is the best stuff you get. I mean, CJ Rayburn's, you know, and everything. But but look at his hat, CJ Rayburn. Come on, you weren't brother got a Christmas. That's a good brother. That's good to get. Yeah. But the the the NASCAR thing, like, you know, we we were racing down there with a pile of cars and the Bush All-Star tour, and you know, the regions paid 40 grand to win, 30, 40 grand to win the region. There's 10 regions, and then that you know, a hundred and some thousand for the for the and this is in the I think Ed won 150 that one was.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like in the right.
SPEAKER_10And it just goes to show you, and you know, back then IMCA to us and we were in the NASCAR world, IMCA was just like, oh yeah, Stewart, where everybody's shit facing the pits and fighting and crashing, and you know, like I mean it was just seriously, bro. It was a different thing.
SPEAKER_03But we had we had more tracks, right? Yeah. I mean we had at that time Harlan was a NASCAR, Denison was NASCAR, Adams County NASCAR, West Liberty NASCAR. I mean, we had all these NASCAR tracks.
SPEAKER_10You know, and and and that was back when they were all big tracks and stuff, too. You know, Denison was a killer. I mean, there's huge.
SPEAKER_03And I mean Harlan back then, they had that radar gun up on the backstretch, yeah, and you'd come across to where you pull into the pits and you'd get airborne across this bitch, okay? And I I can always remember when guys had hit over a hundred down that backstretch, you're going. Yeah, move.
SPEAKER_15We're getting it now, man. I mean, come on.
SPEAKER_10But it just goes to show you how NASCAR took and they it it slowly eroded. They took away the Bush All-Star tour, then the regions kind of went down, then tracks started dropping off, then it was just, and then now it's all this, you know, they're I mean, and this is my opinion, but you know, when I I remember one of the last times that I bought a NASCAR license or whatever, and you know, it just feels like you're paying your eighty bucks or ninety ninety bucks or whatever. 75 for the charger. Yeah, and it just feels like you're just propping up cup. Now it's two twenty-five they don't they it's like they don't care, and then they kept trying to sell this and that, and it just become and then that's where you saw IMCA start to uh come on, where they started in I what I believed in and started investing in what they had and making their uh entire program better, and you know, we're we're gonna do this, we're gonna do these things, and then uh here come the higher. I mean it's not a light switch, but it's a s it it was like a a slow migration from NASCAR to where it was to IMCA to where it is now where you got supernaturals who are racing twenty five hundred dollar to win stock car races that pay down really well, like the hog, like the the you know, five thousand dollar to win shows, ten thousand, whatever, you know, tours, things like that. So that's where IMCA, you know, as well as like the Boone Speedway and stuff too, they really I mean I remember when I was in college going down to Boone and it was it didn't even rain or nothing, it was like three something in the morning, and I'm like, I gotta go to school tomorrow, like I'm out of here, you know, and I left. But but now it's like okay, now we're we're investing in technology. We got the you know the drones and we're trying to fly drones through cars.
SPEAKER_13That was awesome. I don't care what anybody says. It was great, it was awesome.
SPEAKER_03And Sobbing says I wouldn't give up on that a long time ago. Not me. No, fly that bitch through here. We're gonna keep trying until it won't go no more.
SPEAKER_15Yes.
SPEAKER_10I throw it out on my hood and it went and even, you know, like podcasts and stuff like this, and and uh whatever other podcasts are around, they and everybody's always thinking, and everybody's always, you know, hey man, what about this? What if we you know, what have we done this? What have we done that? And then it might not be something that you do that year, but it's like it always kind of riles around in the back of your mind, like you know, I always I always miss the bush also.
SPEAKER_03The best thing that ever happened to us, right, is uh basically when I had my heart attack and we decided we're gonna go race. Yeah, we started hitting IMCA tracks. When we went to uh Stuart for the first time, there were only five cars there, whatever there was. And I got off the track and I went, God damn, this is the shit.
SPEAKER_02Well, hold on. I mean from you go from Talladega.
SPEAKER_03Oh, Talladega. I mean this track's a fucking monster, okay? Yeah. Well, Jonathan, when he came down and raced when he was driving for us and stuff, and we got him down there and he won the tradition. Yeah. And uh he goes, Man, this place is huge. He goes, Did you see that bitch sitting just north of the flag stand in the stands? And I'm like, No. Well, actually, I did. I mean, you know, I mean, it's you're literally, I could shoot a text message. I mean, he's uh it's just insane bake. And uh when I was on the fairboard at uh Adams County Speedway, I had a gentleman uh offered to basically pay to shorten the whole track. Okay? This guy's big time. Uh I'll just tell you it's Jay Burdick. Jay Burdick, Malvern Bank, Dirt Track Bank. He came to me, wanted me to try getting it shortened, and uh, we had a rendition, drew up, everything. They they they they didn't want nothing to do with it. I'm like whatever, man, it'll die. That that track will die because we we choose to drive an hour and a half to two hours to get up here because of the atmosphere and the just uh action track, man. You have your own beer. Yeah, it's it's great, and I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't be at Boone Speedway if it wasn't for him. Yep You know, Thornton drove our car, and I mean Mills drove them and he's drove them, Drew's drove them. Uh I I don't mind letting people drive them. I never used to want anybody to drive my car. Sure. But then uh when I met uh when I called Jonathan out of the blue and we met in Bristol, and Jesse's on top of the toter, squeegeeing water off that bitch. And uh we ended up spending a few days there, and then after that point, it was uh after that it was over. Uh we got the best parking spots in the house, man. That's it, because of his dad and him. And I I love the track. I love everything about it. I love the people there. Uh the track workers, everyone. Uh, and I'll take care of them.
SPEAKER_12They'll do a pretty good job.
SPEAKER_03Oh, come on, man. Fucking Hank, he's the greatest guy ever. Hank just goes right straight in the trailer after the races. He knows where the coothers are at. He knows it's a bushlight bottle in there. Okay.
SPEAKER_11He's not drinking the track beer, he's coming in beers. Okay, now I know.
SPEAKER_03Yep. Oh, they've done a lot of good stuff for us. But once I uh after uh my heart attack and stuff, uh, you know, that's been uh 13, 14 years ago. I was young. And uh I got over that and I said, you know what? I'm not done. We're going racing. That's when I bought my first toter. We started traveling around and I started going to these big shows, and then me and a friend of mine uh hit all these big shows, and we went back to Corney and we destroyed them. Destroyed them.
SPEAKER_12Nice.
SPEAKER_03And uh we went one-two the first night we went back. We drove all the way from Jackson, Minnesota in the mons.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_03We drove all the way from Jackson, Minnesota, made it to the racetrack, and we were all putting our suits on as we're going down the road. Buck was in a hobby stock, had just got his first win in Fairmont, Minnesota in a hobby stock against the wall, up on it. His mom was pissed off because she wasn't there. Oh boy. But uh it was great, it was fantastic. Then we got caught cheating. Oh we we learned this little trick. I'm I'm gonna call it out. I'm gonna call it out because uh tech guys were, you know, not on top of the game. But they didn't know.
SPEAKER_10I mean, they got this new like, yeah, there's nothing we could do to them, you know.
SPEAKER_03And it's like But they got that new buzzbox, remember? Yeah. And they come up to my car and we destroyed them the week before. And uh we were one two. My friend went one, I went two. So he goes back the next week, and we're in these crates, and I always said I'd never run a crate. Well, then I got a hold of a crate, and I'm like, oh that's pretty good. Well, this one kid, uh, I won't say any names for nothing, but he says we had these MSD boxes, you know, with the dial on them, and you turned that dial. So he taught us to turn her up. We turned her up 69. Then you pulled that little dial out, pushed her back in. She read the right thing on the dials, right? And they metered mine first. About burned my shit up. And uh it it punched out at 69.50. And uh still was. They went to go to the other guy, Jeff James is his name, great friend, and uh he looks right at him and he says, Don't fucking hook it up. Because mine's just like his. And they looked right at us and they said, just go ahead and turn him down and you can race. So we turned him down. And we went one, two again. And I went one and he went two.
SPEAKER_10He said, Don't even bother, because who do you think did it to his?
SPEAKER_03So we don't we don't go there to that. That was my home track, man. I raced there forever. And uh the Smith boys even asked me, uh, what's it like to leave a place you've raced for 20 years? I don't know, I kind of like it here, man. Yeah, I like to I I love the people. I mean, McBurney's I I love the McBurney, everyone. I get along with pretty much everybody. If I can crack a smile out of Doug Smith's wife when she walks by, uh-huh, it's a good day. Make sure that she won't hardly smile at me ever, and I think it's because of Jonathan. But uh I'm not sure, probably.
SPEAKER_02It depends on if Doug and I made contact before or not. Oh shit, right?
SPEAKER_12Cassie's pretty serious, so she they come down to St. Louis when we go down to the late model race in the suite with us. And yeah, we got we all get along really good in there, but yeah, she comes in there, so yeah, I can see she's all busy.
SPEAKER_02She's actually super nice. Oh yeah. She's super nice. She really is.
SPEAKER_03She's just making you work for me. Maybe it's just because we uh we have that rivalry, man. I mean, it's uh, you know, I mean when I first came to Boone and said we was gonna start racing up here at our bar at home, there was a guy come in there and he says, Oh man, you're gonna have to race with the Smiths. And I'm like, who the fuck are they? I mean, I don't know. You know? And so now I know them and I know that uh how it goes. I mean I understand now. Yeah, I understand. Okay, but I I really like them. You know I do. Oh yeah. You know I like the Smiths. Uh Mike, I think's uh fantastic. I think the whole deal you guys were talking about earlier with uh Mike and Matt and Sokow. Uh what do we call him? Who? Socow. King Louie? King Louie, yeah.
SPEAKER_12Why do you call him King Louie? Where did that come from?
SPEAKER_03And so it is but I love all these guys and I I see there's their rivalry going on and I see what Buck's doing and Jonathan, and I just I want to be part of it still, and I still can do it. Yeah. I mean there ain't no question. I mean Buck's got my car dowdy and I mean I've done some stuff in that thing this year that I'm like, wow, man. And I'm in the oldest car. With I'm the old man. Uh so I make sure that the boys got their stuff and Yeah. I'll get by with what I got.
SPEAKER_12So we gotta talk about that a little bit. So the tornado.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_12Back in uh what was it, 2044. We were all in Spencer.
SPEAKER_03We was all at Spencer.
SPEAKER_12Colton and I were up there, you guys were up there. And uh, you know, we we got up and we're hearing on the news, because we used to live in Greenfield. Yeah. Um and we started hearing I started seeing things on Facebook, and I'm like, what is happening? Because we got rained out that day. It was rained everywhere. And uh next thing I know, like I started to see like the path of where this thing went, and I'm like, holy shit, like that's gotta be close, like down south of Fawn. No, I still didn't put it together, and then we went out to the track to help them fix the loop, and Mike said, Yeah, Van Eaton's went home. And I'm like, Oh man, you know, somebody I figured, you know, somebody, foxes, you know, somebody I didn't know. Yeah. And then he goes, No, it got their farm. Like it hit their place. I'm like, oh man.
SPEAKER_03Uh but uh the boys was keeping me informed. I don't got all that shit on my phone. I'm old school, but uh they knew it was headed right for it. And I was on the phone with the wife, and man, she was freaking out. Sure. We was scared, and yeah.
SPEAKER_12Well, it's one of the one of the top five tornadoes in history. Yeah, I know. This isn't this isn't something that just She was standing outside and she says to me, What should I do?
SPEAKER_03And I said, I don't know, you want to go to the basement? I mean, you're gonna go by yourself, and we got a good basement and everything. Ain't no problem. And all of a sudden she says, I see it. And I say, Get the out of there. Go. So she went to uh fireman uh that's a good customer at the bar, uh went to their house and uh our neighbor kid, Little Ray, he uh called and said the shop's gone. Little Ray.
SPEAKER_15Little Ray Little Ray My Bad. He said the shop's gone.
SPEAKER_03And um luckily uh luckily we had all of our shit with us. Yeah, otherwise the race cars wouldn't even have been insured. Toters were trashed and everything and all that. But if the race cars are in the toter, they are covered. And they're covered because it's right, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Right. But the car that he's racing right now went through the tornado. It was yeah, cheese.
SPEAKER_03Because I I thought about doing a tornado wrap on that bitch for a boon.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, you should.
SPEAKER_03That'd be awesome. Or I'm just gonna put Brett Root's face on the side.
SPEAKER_12That's been that's been done. There it is, right there. So that was that, oh wow.
SPEAKER_10That's the car he's racing right now. Yeah.
SPEAKER_12That's awesome.
SPEAKER_03So we had Buck's got that bitch dialed in, man.
SPEAKER_10I I've really done good in that thing this year already. We had all of our body panels and stuff, old body panels and stuff up on the on the uh wall, and I think they found one like 60 miles away and one like 70 miles away.
SPEAKER_03Well, we found see, I heard we found his at Greenfield from the house. That was the first one that Little Rye found. Yeah. By that person.
SPEAKER_12Then uh your boy. It was my yeah, it was my cousin's husband, is who it was. They were farming. They were combining beans.
SPEAKER_03And they found one core up past Dexter or Redfield. They were combining beans, and he and Could you imagine being out there picking sweet corn or something and that thing helicopters?
SPEAKER_12Andy said, he called uh my uncle and he said, Hey, you got something stuck under the head, and he stopped and he went out and got it, and it was wadded up. And he's so he pulls it out and he's like, throws it in the rock box, and he's driving along and he looks down at it and he goes, Because he used to race hobby stocks. Yeah. He's like, I think that's off of a race car. So he got out, kind of half straightened it out. He took a picture of it and sent it to me, and I said, I know exactly where that came from. So he they straightened it out, brought it to me, and then we brought it to you at the Stewart Banquet.
SPEAKER_03There was uh one wrapped around a telephone pole on north of Greenfield, and it was just a wild deal. I mean, it was a long drive home for me and him. Oh, yeah. I mean, we didn't say probably one word to each other the whole way home. Sure.
SPEAKER_11Yep. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Because he's wondering how the we're gonna do anything, and I'd come home at night and here he would be out in the on this concrete pad with the toter opened up, the lights on, and him sitting in the chair on his phone working on the cars. Makeshift shop. Yeah. Right. Wait one there. So we're we're getting it about done. We're down to the bathroom.
SPEAKER_12Okay.
SPEAKER_03Uh, we got a kid working on that, so but it didn't get the house. Nope. Didn't get the house.
SPEAKER_10Sixty feet away. Maybe a hundred. I mean, it's close and it didn't get the really well that's that's what she put the and Tracy was put the new pickup inside.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_10Because it wouldn't get hailed on or nothing, and she put it in the shop. And then the old 350,000 mile beater out there that like it's every light on the dash is on it and it has the dinger for every notification. And the dinger is worn out. It's like we know they're wrong, dude, and we're not gonna fix it. So just you know it made it right through it. Oh yeah, and it's sitting over there, like right at just right over there, just not a detailed.
SPEAKER_03So the tornado thing, I mean, that's very I mean, it's hard on you.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03I mean, just uh I mean Trace ain't she ain't right still. I mean, a storm comes in and uh she's headed for the house.
SPEAKER_12Well, you're not gonna forget that. I mean that's that's an attraction.
SPEAKER_03I regret that I wasn't there. It's a trauma. But I mean we was doing what we love. Sure. And she knows it.
SPEAKER_12She wouldn't want you to be able to do it. She's our biggest supporter. Sure, she was. She definitely is.
SPEAKER_10I come up the next day to help clean up or whatever, and and you know, I just I and I'm like, they're like, well, take all these pictures and stuff for insurance. So I'm like taking all the pictures and and insurance is a joke. We started cutting up trees and and like it's one of those deals where you get there and it's like where do you even start?
SPEAKER_03I mean, you know, we don't Jonathan came down with his dad's dump truck and he helped haul stuff out of Greenfield. Matt actually Avala, of course, he actually uh skipped racing and I had a guy from uh Wisconsin or well, where's he from, Jonathan? The one dude Oh paper boy Cole Fenski this skid loader shows up at my uh brother-in-law's shop and the nephews, Fox Welding, and my sister's and I'm like, Where where'd that come from? Fensky sent down this fucking skid loader. Oh wow. So we had three skid loaders in town, and uh my favorite part of the whole thing is when Buck was picking shit up out of this guy's yard. This old boy's standing in this window like this. And he goes, Come over here. I walked over there and he says, You tell your boy, that skid loader, that I don't want that tree to look any different than it does right now. There's one stem out the top and one off the side. And I told Buck and Buck's like went cuckoo banana. This is after he just grappled a dead cat. And Buck's like, fuck that guy, or whatever. I look at the guy and I figures out that the house he's in should be pointed straight north and south, and it's pointed to the northwest. Twisted. And he's like this. Oh man, I'm over here. But yeah, it was it was a crazy deal. My nephew lost his house, and Colton Garcide, another racer friend of ours, ours. He's got a brand new house from the deal, but it's just one of them deals.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. Yeah, and another, you know, racing friend, Jeff Wiggins. Oh, yeah. Lost his parents.
SPEAKER_03That's awesome. I graduated with Jeff.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. Jeff, we bought our first house from Jeff in Greenfield. Believe that? Really? Yeah. We lived in his house. That's where he ran Southern Iowa vending out of when he first started it.
SPEAKER_03He's good, dude. He is a good dude. Wiggy.
SPEAKER_12Yep, Wiggy.
SPEAKER_03That was uh Candyman.
SPEAKER_12It was a terrible, terrible, you know thing to happen, but one thing that came out of it when we found that door, that leads me to the question I have to ask everybody that races. Where'd you come up with your number? Me? Yeah. V31, I know where the V comes from, but I think I do. Maybe I don't.
SPEAKER_10It's a broad statement, but all right. Last name. Diamond. It's kind of exactly the diamond.
SPEAKER_03Uh the 31, I guess I'm gonna say this, and everybody's gonna go, God, dude, that's corny. But uh, I'm gonna say this. Dale Earnhardt Sr. was my favorite driver ever. Uh, number three. Then I just put the one on the back. I don't know. Okay. I mean, that's it.
SPEAKER_12That's it. Which was totally weird for me.
SPEAKER_03I didn't have anybody before me to number myself after, which no oh yeah. I mean, there's nothing else you would do. Uh, but uh Buck, he he numbered his after his dad, the 92, and that stuck with him.
SPEAKER_10It was totally weird for me because I come from Kaziskis and we were always in this superheated rivalry with Dave Chase, who's number 31. Dave Chase is one of my favorites. Okay. The guy was a gangster. And now all of a sudden they're like, you're pitting for a guy that's number 31.
SPEAKER_02I just strangely we're a Mike Skinner fan. Yeah, fuck Mike Skinner fan. RDI.
SPEAKER_03Yes, but come on. I mean, I'm just saying any of us could have drove.
SPEAKER_02He had a blue car. So I just thought you were a Mike Skinner fan.
SPEAKER_12I wasn't.
SPEAKER_03Okay. I was not a Mike Skinner fan.
SPEAKER_12So you you did the modified thing. We know you're in a stock car now. Have you ever driven anything else?
SPEAKER_03Uh late model. Did? Yeah, I drove late model. I won uh two and a late model. And actually at that time, in NASCAR, uh the premium division or whatever was uh limited late models. We run two barrels on them. Steel headed, everything. They run good. And uh I went to Denison on the big track and won two in a row off the bottom. And they never w watered the bottom again. Ever. Because they wanted you running up top because they have that uh mentality. That the mentality that MVG mentality because that nobody's gonna want to watch unless you race at the top.
SPEAKER_10Which lean which leads into the uh I mean I don't know. I guess it's me being old school, but some of these bonsai sliders that we see to me are not entertaining. I'm sorry. Uh they're just not. But one of the best races that I have ever seen in my life was at the whole hog 50 with Triok Shoot and Happy Gillen. And there was at any given moment, they raced three wide at Stewart on a slicked up track, and they could have dirty drove each other at any corner for literally over half the race, and they didn't. And that was the best, I mean, I could get as much thinking about it. Like it's the best race, actual race. Now, when I see a guy that's eight car lengths behind with a fistful of throttle till the center of the corner and just blow it in there and boun door the guy out, clearing off the track, pun him, like or you know, some of that. I mean, there are some there's some decent sliders like back and forth, but these like just these Hail Mary ones, it's like I think they refer to them as bombs. Yeah, yeah, and I I I I I disagree with those. And then a lot of times when you have tracks that are set up that way, that's the only way that you're going to, you know, get around somebody or where especially when you it's you can catch the guy by getting around him.
SPEAKER_12Catching him is one thing, getting around him is another, and that's you know what we talked about earlier, but that that Shrihawk race, that whole Hog 50, how I remember that race, that was the first night I was on my own running the transponders and MRP at Stewart. I didn't have Colton wasn't there to back me up, and I I remember after they crossed and everything looked good, and I was like, Holy shit, like that was a hell of a race. Then it sank in. Right, and then I'm looking at the results. I am sure as hell glad we had transponders. Yeah, right. Because wow, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I mean so back to the late model gig. Uh so we'd take this thing and we could go race super late models at Corning, Adams County Speedway, and I showed up there with it, and we bolted the four-bowl on, and I qualified, and I led 19 laps. And I mean Scott Koskovich, Mark Wan, I mean the boys. I mean it was pretty stout. I mean backwards. Pretty stout, yeah. And I led for 19 and I blew that some bitch up right in front of the grandstands.
SPEAKER_12Damn it.
SPEAKER_10I would have won that bitch. And Kosovich and Victory Lane said I need nine, you never would have caught him. I never would have got him. Never would have caught me.
SPEAKER_12Wow.
SPEAKER_03It's great. Yeah. So I have drove some cars. First time I ever drove a late model, I got out of it and I looked at everybody and said, You can't drive one of them. You got a problem. I mean, when you turn the wheel on them, this one guy taught me if you can't get it to turn, just squeeze the trigger. Yeah. Hit the gas. Give her the hammer. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Wow.
SPEAKER_15You know what I mean?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_10Slow down, turn down. How about when you bit when you uh hot lapped uh the Hype Chide's car and there was this grease patch in hot laps, right like underneath the floor? And this is a full-blown super. It was an all-aluminum, like uh Russell Baker, and he goes out there and zings this thing to like 8,900 just right now. And he's like, comes in, he's like, Man, I turn to turn this thing like 8,900.
SPEAKER_03He's like, Don't worry about it, he says. I'm like, all right, man. We're on it. Because see, that's when I first got hooked up with Big Rye, is he was always with Kasiski's, but him and his brother kept migrating over to me because I pitted right there with them. And I'd cook food, and I mean, you know, everything.
SPEAKER_10I like to listen to music and yeah, the food and stuff really was what did it make a bit.
SPEAKER_03Oh, God, man. Yeah, well, it's over with. But though uh Mo was his name, Mo Hopshide, and he came over to Big Rye and he says, Go tell your boy over there to upgrade his license. He's gonna drive. And Big Rye looks at him and says, He's already got one. It's already upgraded.
SPEAKER_15Yeah.
SPEAKER_10It would have been like 04, I think. Yeah. Because they all the local the local Dodge dealers, that's when Ed had the Dodge car and the local area. He had to go to somewhere out east to do this, like the soapbox derby thing there in the Nashals. Like it was a crazy thing, but uh with his kids and stuff. But they uh he the Dodge car had to be there. So Jason drove the Dodge car, and Jason was struggling in his car. So they're like, oh, and and Shane is Pit Crew guy's like, we're gonna try some crazy stuff, you know. And I'm like, he won't know a difference. Like he'll just be right, you know, and I'm like six to midnight.
SPEAKER_09Whatever, man.
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, he uh it's it was uh and he sucked at uh I want to call it sunset, but I-80 at that time. And uh he went back out there and finished like what second or third the next night and they was all elated. They're like, oh, it must have worked.
SPEAKER_10Like, yeah, I guess so.
SPEAKER_03I hadn't been in a modified for four years, and I got a uh chance to drive one, and Jonathan was there. Oh yeah. Yeah. I was gonna win that some bitch. Yeah. But it didn't happen. Shoot run me down. Yeah.
SPEAKER_12He's good at doing that for reasons.
SPEAKER_03Just blowing the tires off this thing because it was an open motor.
SPEAKER_10So we're at Corning and uh you can run what was the RPM 72 with an open with a uh crate spoiler, two inch at the time. Or you could run the crate with a two-inch and uh yeah, they they had all they always had these wonky rules like we could run a 500 CFM two barrel on our on our uh uh open motors with a five-inch spoiler. And I'm like, yeah, we need to do that. You know, like well then all these guys started doing that, and then Ray Howe, who passed away super good dude, but he I spent an hour on the phone with him, he was running the track, and that was when the crate thing was coming out, and and he goes, Oh, I want I want to give the four barrel cars a spoiler, and I'm like, You can't do that. Like I said, you need to take ours down to where the crate spoilers are. So crates and two barrels have this spoiler, and then the four barrels don't have a spoiler, because I said, if you got if you if you give the four barrel cars the spoiler, you will have nine cars at the end of the year. And the last night of the year they had nine cars. Yep, and I I'm like I said, I'm cutting my own throat here because we're we're taking away from our spoiler, you know, but I said for the better of everything else, well they didn't listen and they did that, but it it was one of those deals. But uh it so the you could run a 7200 780. 78. We was running 78. It was 78 when you could do uh and we didn't know there's a skip well uh Jace Jace Witt Jace Witt, yep, and we didn't know like we're just like okay, yeah, getting this thing and go, like it's good to go, like rage car or whatever, you know, and we duct tape a number all fancy on there. That could look pretty good for what it was. And and so we got there and raced and we're like, oh yeah, this thing's doing you know, running pretty good. And then we ended up going down to what uh Winston, not Winston, uh the other one. Um Memphis now 35 or no, I always speedway.
SPEAKER_02No, no, US 36. It's the sh it's the steep bank track I raced there. One is it was it US 36? I think it is 36 or US 30.
SPEAKER_10Went down there to drive it. We went down there to drive it, and we're like, hey, you're gonna turn that thing up, and he's like, To what? We're like 7800. He's like, Oh, I never changed it. We're like, oh.
SPEAKER_03We never had her turned down the whole time. Didn't know and my brother was up in the stands, and he's like, at least the other time we did know. Yeah, my brother was up in the stands, remember, and he came down and goes, Man, your car is just screaming out there, right there. And I'm twisting this bitch about seven or you know, at least 78. Probably 77.50. But it was like Jay Squitt says, just do whatever.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, we're like, oh matter. So we went down there and ended up like I think ninth, eighth or ninth, and it was slicked up and stuff, and you know, the one guy was like, the one crew guy that was with him was like, hey, how's he he's like, he's on the gas, but he like doesn't spin the tires and stuff. And I was like, Yeah, like they're used to just like ripping the tires off it apparently. I'm like, yeah, that you go faster that way when it's slick, dude. Safe's on tires too, usually.
SPEAKER_15Yeah, that's awesome.
SPEAKER_03But yeah, that's what we done. We done the late model gig for a little bit. I love the mods, but when I got my first taste of a stock car, it was over. No looking back. Yeah, uh drove bucks at uh Stuart. Um he had about cut his finger off over at Fox Welding on a freak little deal, and he was kind of laid up, and he wanted to know if I wanted to drive it, and I'm like, you know what, I'll drive it. And uh we came out of turn two, and uh there was smoke rolling off this side and sparks off this side, and we was three wide, and I got out of that some bitch afterwards, and I said, I'm getting one of those. Okay, I mean it was over. Okay, I mean I know that you had to feel the same way. Oh, yeah. I mean, I don't care. I mean, I know that we love mods. I mean, I love mods. Oh, yeah. I miss the mods. I mean, I've I went with Shy Rock a lot. That's when I we started touring around, I was in a Skyrocket and we was touring around with him and stuff, and just I learned that this this is how you get good, and I'll instill that in Buck all the time. You gotta race with these guys. You can't just go where there's 12 or 13 cars and uh I mean if I get bad reviews from this, uh so be it. But I'll just say it. When there's 12 or 13 cars there and only three or four can win, you go to Boone and uh you're in a feature. I've been in a heat race before at Boone at Supers that we figured up there was like four supernational champions in that heat race. Yeah. I mean, you're looking at this grid going, Jesus Christ, you had Donovan Devin and David and all in my heat race going, some bitch. In heat 17 or 20. No, 30. I've been in 30 before.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, it is something the the quality that you'll go up against. And you know, on a weekly night too, hell. I mean, you there's nights when like Dave will say something to the tower, like, uh, well, this one's stacked, and you get to look and it's like, oh yeah, okay. Stacked. It's it's amazing.
SPEAKER_03You got the jammer in there, and you got everybody?
SPEAKER_12Yeah, it's something.
SPEAKER_03And you see the 69 in there and you go, fuck clown. What quarter fender is he gonna get?
SPEAKER_02Don't worry, I'll stop down and fix it. Yeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_03We're pivoted right beside each other. I'll help you fix it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you don't even gotta stop on the way through. You guys need a water?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03No, I I I love the IMCA racing. I do. I'm uh I'm a super huge promoter of it. Uh I will go down with the ship on IMCA.
SPEAKER_10I like it because you know, NASCAR back even back then, you have these individual rules. So like where were we? We couldn't go anywhere. It was so weird. Like if we went out to I-80, we had, you know, we were running brands when you and and uh you had to run like a uh steel bell housing. Well, we had a aluminum bell housing with a reverse mount starter, rear mount, KSE pump, and all that stuff. And so you couldn't run that the rear mount, yeah. When we first started racing Stuart, like consistently, we had the f the four or the two barrel deals, so we just left the two barrel on, but we'd have to they are on unstamped users. Uh-uh. So we and this is pre-tire machine days. So Saturday night we would dismount all the tires, mount up all the IMCA tires, and take the spoiler off, change the car over, you know, do do all that, then go race at Stewart, then we'd come back home, dismount all the tires again, remount all the tires again, put the spoiler back on, change the car back, and then go race down there. And you know, and like it it got to be where it's like you know, and then you start looking at IMCA and it's like, well, whether I'm racing in Wisconsin or Texas or down on the coast or in California or in Arizona, it's the same thing everywhere. I mean it doesn't matter. It's a it's a fantastic consistent straight across. You don't put yourself on these islands to where you're relying on another track and then all of a sudden that track, you know, like I80s, poof gone.
SPEAKER_11Yeah.
SPEAKER_10Well now you don't you you do you're essentially on an island because you don't uh it's tough to you know you can't do any deals with IMCA tracks very well, or not as easy, I would say, I guess. I don't know how all that works with IMCA or whatever, but I mean you know, it makes it more difficult. So that's another plus with the IMCA deal and and all that, because they you know, they want to and that way these tech guys can go anywhere in tech. You know, and they can I mean they can show up at any track and the rules are all the same, and this is where we're at, this is this, this is this. It's all in stone, and and it makes it uh it just way more consistent and way easier to police. And that could open up a whole nother can of worms. That's why we only go back for the money. Yeah, yeah. I mean we'll go race for the money. Yeah, I mean a thousand dollar to wind deal, yeah, that's fine, especially you know, you're looking at five dollar plus fuel and everything else, and that's right down the road. Remember when we got our astute for that, Jonathan?
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. Remember, Buck? We went down to Missouri and went to a USRA show. We all wanted to go racing. So on a whim, we just decided we was gonna go to I-35 Speedway. Staley was having a show down there. Well, Jonathan, like usual, basically got kicked out. Yeah. I was gonna win. There was a gap. Yeah, you was gonna win. I was gonna win. You was gonna win, and you seen the gap and you shot the gap both. And uh this guy took uh butthurt to it, and uh we still won. Buck Buck ended up with it. Then they tried he keying it. And uh I think the last thing I said when we drove out of the park was is with a two-barrel bud. Yeah. Nine inch who's your tires. You know, these guys are in these gangsters and they give us shit about all these guys come down, these what'd they say? Big time racers. Big timers from up north come down buying five dollar fuel.
SPEAKER_02Basically, the guy's wife that I hit, Nick Hines, was the guy's name. Oh, you hit the guy or her? Him.
SPEAKER_15No, I thought you meant you.
SPEAKER_02But she came out of there and I had no idea. I had no idea who she was, but I was delete buttons. No, that cough buttons. Oh, okay. Thank you. Uh that was yeah, we had a flat tire on the trailer because we were driving. Oh, it's a dump fire. The whole trip is a dumpster fire.
SPEAKER_03It's like 50 degrees. And the back door got ripped off in the 50 miles an hour.
SPEAKER_10We took Buck's car and his car and the toter, and they were bringing John's on the open. Blew a tire like seven miles from the track and just like annihilated the fender and everything. We get there, like, okay, and we look, and there's like 68 classes of modified E mods and D mods and J mods and jerk mods and junior sport mods.
SPEAKER_03It was like being the fucking steward.
SPEAKER_10And then so we go out there and race, like the first lap, Todd goes in there, and this guy, like, I remember it was right in front of me in turn four. This guy spins out, Todd like stops to and like, all right, we're in good shape. And this other guy is like climbs up on his left side, and I could just hear him in the gas, like along the left side of this whole car. I'm like, let off the car. Shouldn't have come down here. Yeah, so then they then that whole thing happened with you and whatever that I didn't even see what the hell went on there, but I'm just watching Buck. Well, he ended up winning. Then we go down to the tech area and they try to they're fighting and everybody's pissed and screaming. I mean, honestly, Todd Staley and I are pretty good friends. Yeah, and then they were trying to they were trying to DQ Buck because he had this lightweight balancer on where like it's an IMCA package. Like, see the two missing barrels on the carburetor, see the Hoosier on the tires, the nine-inch rear end, like this is the IMCA package. Like, if you run a full-blown IMCA package, you can run like, oh no, they're arguing and this and that. We're like, well, we can call Todd's Daly right now if you want us to, and then they finally let us go. And probably gave us a bad chip.
SPEAKER_03So actually, Buck went 2-0. He won the one at Stewart the challenge, and then he went down there and won. Which you probably would have won that. Well, I just took the guy out.
SPEAKER_02It was one lane. It was one lane, and I and he was in it. Opened his entry up, and I stuck my nose in there. And he wasn't ready for it. He was not ready for it. He disagreed.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, he very much disagreed. You guys were in stern disagreement about positioning on the track at the that moment. At that moment we were, yeah. Yeah. But no, they're that was a that was a great start to it. They drag Todd's car back in and he's like, God damn, let this fucking place blah blah blah. And he goes to get in the back of the toter and opens the door and the wind goes and rips the door off. He's like, so it's like one of these deals, like it just won't end. And then we're gonna all the way home. We're like, what's gonna happen now? We're gonna blow a steer tire and barrel roll this whole rig like geez. You know, like it was bad. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03We've had some great times. I mean, going IMCA, I mean, just fantastic, fantastic times. Texas tour or Batesville trip was epic.
SPEAKER_10The the Okay when we got the when we first got the yellow toter, I go up there to because I'm gonna follow him down with the uh golf cart in the back of my pickup, and then I was gonna follow him down so that we got wheels when we're down there and everything. Well, I get up there and the the toter's unhooked from the trailer and it's backed in the shop. Matt's underneath it working on some fuel lake. I'm like, God, this is gonna go great. It's like two degrees below zero. It's the first time we'd ever had it out on a trip, just got it. So we head off to Texas with the two-year expired Indiana dealer plate. It's like, oh, I got all the paperwork right here. And I'm like, okay, they're like half the lights working on the trailer. I'm like, let's go. I mean, and we made it. Hey, we drove all the way to Batesville with no trailer lights. Then the generator wouldn't work, so we had to like we we would jumpstart the generator with my pickup, and then we would plug the battery charger in to hook to the battery to keep the generator going. It was awesome. It was the circle of life. And it was, yeah, I'm like, is this really happening? And like, yeah, it just worked. And wow.
SPEAKER_03And then being at Boone for a week, I mean, that's what uh led us to Buck bringing our own satellite dish to the track because we'll go to these races and we'll watch the same movie like too many times. The whole time. I mean, you can only watch Blow so many times. I mean Johnson's like, Man, are we gonna watch Blow again? Yeah.
SPEAKER_08That's the only movie we got.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04It's like T Gun with Uncle Buck. Yeah, seriously. Him and Duckies up in the top bunk snuggling.
SPEAKER_03Yes. You're spooning the shit out of him, man. It was cold.
SPEAKER_15It was.
SPEAKER_13Oh, that's well, should we get to uh should we get to our unboxing after the break? We should. Yeah, we'll get to our unboxing. Um yeah, I'm excited to see what was sent to you in that. I'm sure you are.
SPEAKER_12I think we I think we all are.
SPEAKER_02You guys probably had some other secret meeting without me, and that's in six months.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, I had nothing to do with this. That meeting happened right in front of you. It was Andrea and I right at the trade show. Oh weird, yes. We're very excited about that. Are we still on right now?
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Uh I want to say uh that I'm here to well promote our stuff. I mean the whole hog stuff like that, whatever. Um but I I I really want to promote IMCA. I I believe IMCA is the king right now. Uh it is. Local dirt. Uh it's hands down the best. Yep. And we don't have Barry Brown.
SPEAKER_02Hey. IMCA is the king of dirt track racing in the United States. It is. Um, you'd look at all these shows like we're talking, you got the whole hog 50 coming up uh this weekend, Sunday, 2,500 to win. Got uh hard charger. 2,000 for second. 2,000 for second. 1,500 for third. I believe it's 200 or 175 to start. Is it 255? No, is it 225?
SPEAKER_03Or is it 200? Look it up, big red.
SPEAKER_02I can't remember, but uh got a hard charger award.
SPEAKER_03No, I got my people.
SPEAKER_04I mean, Buck, when we're in the toter, if I need something looked up, it's his job.
SPEAKER_10Want me to tell you a quick story about these guys riding with me? And he's trying to send a text, you have to grab the wheel. Wheel. And you steer and he does his text message.
SPEAKER_03So I'll tell this story quick while he's looking that up. The boys, uh, Matt and him was with me, and Buck has raised a stock car for the first time. We was in Pacola, Oklahoma. I was in a mod, and I had one of my one of my favorite races ever with Jeff Taylor, and uh this track was pretty cool. Well, we was going home, and the guy we was with, he had more power than us, and he could pull this hill and he got ahead of us. Well, them two little bastards, they go to sleep. So we get to this big mix master, right? And Ice heads off this way, evidently. And I'm driving, I'm driving, I'm driving, and I'm like, Why am I driving into the sun? We was halfway to St. Louis, and I told the boys, I says, There ain't a one of you fuckers gonna sleep again while I'm driving. Keep me some shit up here, okay? And they never have, they'll take turns staying awake. But I love taking the boys. I mean, I love 141, uh Steph Mashall, you know her. Angie Moeller. Uh I love the bar there. Uh I became really good friends with the boys in the bar because there's an older group that's there, Lonnie Kastrova, and uh them boys. And uh I'm really hoping that they see this and they get a go fund me for fuel so we can come up there for the big race. Yeah. But they probably won't. Right. And I uh Josh Thor's, uh some of the friends I've made in uh racing are unbelievable. Uh just uh my best friends ain't necessarily farmers or nothing. They're racers and they're from all over the country. Yep. Uh Jason Fegart, uh Paul Thornton, uh a lot of 'em. I know a bunch of them. Pretty good family. IMCA's uh it's the king.
SPEAKER_12Yep, I don't think anybody disagree in this room.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_13No, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_03All besides a guy promoting a half mile on the inside. Right.
SPEAKER_10We can only do what we can do.
SPEAKER_13Right. Well, let's um let's go to another break and then when we come back, we got a couple things to open on the unboxing. We'll get to the unquesting question of the week and and wrap things up and talk about the log. Sound good. Alright. Alright. When we come back, we'll uh finish up here on the okay.

And like I was telling uh what after we went off air, I'm like, I just I'm getting kind of lost in it because I'm like so like interested in the stories. Yeah, I'm just listening, right?
SPEAKER_14Like I'm just like on the way up, he's like we'll have enough stuff to talk about. I'm like, yeah, we'll be fine.
SPEAKER_04We haven't even scratched in there yet, yeah.
SPEAKER_13Right.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_13But uh super cool to hear some of that stuff. One thing I want to bring up before we s before we get into the unboxing and power rankings is the merchandise line launched this week. Yes, it did. So um we had we do have a store open for the watermelons and wood chips podcast official shirts. Um one with the 69 car on it, and the the old Big Johnson style t-shirt. Yeah. Uh, which I think a lot of people seem to like. And uh the the best was when I put all those, you know, I doctored everything up with the models and them and whatever, and but then I got Jeff Olsen wearing his own shirt.
SPEAKER_12That's awesome. Yeah, and my wife wanted to know who the models were, and I said, well, they you know, they work up at the office.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, yeah, they're uh BD, BDE employees. Right. But uh we do have the merchandise available on our store, so um go to the Facebook page and and uh you can get access to that. Um but uh power rankings aren't really true power rankings this week, Adobe Lounge Power Rankings, just because we only got abbreviated right, yeah.
SPEAKER_12I mean there's heat race points, like it's got some info.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, so we ran it with the you know, with what we got through. Um Jeremy Mills is overall one, Mike Smith overall, or is second. Jimmy Guston three, Cam Rhymer's four, um Cam and Mike jumped up because they got their feature feature in, so that could definitely change. Todd shoot five, Sacco six, the Bobcat goes to seven, uh, Corey Sauerman eight, Will Smith nine, and Matt Avila is ten. So um, but like I said, that's gonna change once we get through the rest of once we finish the other features out, that'll be completely different. Plus, we'll have a whole other week added in. So there's definite um gonna be some definite movement. Movers and shakers next week. So but I want to jump into our unboxing segment. Um, so we got one thing from Barntown Brewing that they sent us, and then Jonathan got something over there. Do we want let's open the Barntown Brewing?
SPEAKER_12Sure, let's do the tame thing first. Right.
SPEAKER_13Well, we don't know if this I'm assuming from what it feels like in the package.
SPEAKER_11We never know.
SPEAKER_13Jonathan said that it might have. I think it's your swimsuit, Bob.
SPEAKER_02That's what I think it is. I mean, I'm just he doesn't even want to open the bag. I know. I'm gonna crack it. Be like it smells like salt, I don't know where it's like work anymore. Just saying, something I'm excited. I I didn't get to you know get in on the giving at Barntown, uh, but I'm excited to open it up and see what it is because I I have a feeling it's looks pretty cool. Right, right, right.
SPEAKER_12All right, off with the headset. Yeah, Cody's going in. It's getting serious. Going in.
SPEAKER_03Well, is this a debut of shit?
SPEAKER_02People have been sending us stuff like we're gonna give away this awesome, cool bushing install kit. Oh, awesome. For stock cars, because I thought we were giving one away and then we already done that. And we gave it away. So then I had to buy another one to give another one.
SPEAKER_12Okay. Yeah. That's really cool.
SPEAKER_09Oh, it's like a light.
SPEAKER_04Yep. It's like uh Barntown light. Oh Barntown, right here.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, that's okay.
SPEAKER_04You gotta plug, you gotta plug it in.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, we gotta plug it in.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, plug it in. I have a Schmirnoff on that uh bar that it looks just like it.
unknownThat's awesome.
SPEAKER_13Oh yeah, you definitely gotta plug in.
SPEAKER_12There you go, dog.
SPEAKER_13You got that.
SPEAKER_12Well, do it up. Thankfully, John.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that one should be good. The letters are even raised. So you let's see.
SPEAKER_11Plug her in. There you go.
SPEAKER_12Plug it in. Think this guy will get me one of them for the bar? I'm gonna unplug your laptop for a minute.
SPEAKER_10Over here, right behind you. I'll put it in. There's a free one.
SPEAKER_12Okay. Swedish.
SPEAKER_09Oh. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_12Okay. That's really cool.
SPEAKER_03Barntown coming in clutch.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, very nice.
SPEAKER_03That's awesome. Very nice.
SPEAKER_02I think it's pretty sweet. Uh, what was that guy's name that I didn't get to meet? Joe Farron. Joe, thank you, Joe. Joe Farron. Thank you, Joe, for uh someday I'm gonna shake your hand. Oh, it's me too.
SPEAKER_10It's heavy. It is heavy. Beefy. With the state Iowa in there. Oh, yeah, that is awesome. That's cool. That's cool.
SPEAKER_12That's cool. Very cool. We're gonna have to set a chance.
SPEAKER_02We can't hear you. It's weird.
SPEAKER_13There it is. Alright, we're gonna we're gonna have to negotiate a deal if you want that thing front and center in the middle there between the TVs.
SPEAKER_12It comes with hardware. Oh yeah. These guys kind of go. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_13That thing's very cool.
SPEAKER_12Thank you, Barntown. Thank you, Joe. I don't even know you, and thanks. Yeah, thanks. Me neither. Your beer is excellent. You don't feel bad.
unknownYeah, right.
SPEAKER_12Well, you're gonna get to know him because he's gonna be on the show.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, he said he wanted to come.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. He said we can have bring him to the racetrack.
SPEAKER_10And we figured out what you gotta do when you open the beer.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_10Right. All right, Bob Cal, let's see what you got over there.
SPEAKER_13Okay, we're gonna start slowly here. So chicks though.
SPEAKER_02I I I think don't even do that. I think it's salty. Oh man. Four eggs? You must think I'm packing. Okay. Yeah, this is because I opened up my mouth and was like, yeah, send whatever and I'll wear it. Uh-huh. So you're gonna put that shit on and we gonna look at that?
SPEAKER_03Not really that. I mean, you don't have to look at it, but I'm gonna put it on in another episode.
SPEAKER_02It's a B. It's a B thumb. B and B thumb.
SPEAKER_09Yes.
SPEAKER_02It's not thumb. It's definitely not. Who sent you that? It's definitely not Andrews. Who said that? Is it Paul? Is it Paul's? I had it upside down. I had it wrong ways. Is it Paul's? Um could be. Could be. It's not. Wait a minute. It does smell weird. Let me get away. Actually, it's really nice. I'm bigger on the side. Oh man. Come on. I mean.
SPEAKER_12What do you really say to that other than thank you? Yeah. I mean, I'm just watching you. That's all you need to say.
SPEAKER_02Thank you, B B. Very, very cool.
SPEAKER_03Who sent that? B? B J Oh yeah. B B, right on the power. Yes. Yes. I love this. Oh, wait a minute.
SPEAKER_02Good. There's the stretch.
SPEAKER_09That's gonna hurt when I put it on the way. It's tight.
SPEAKER_02Can't even figure out how to make my turn around like three times. Turn it three times. It's like it looks like a one size fits all.
SPEAKER_12Oh, it fits most. Four X. I'm a little disappointed. I mean, God.
SPEAKER_10That actually it probably would fit.
SPEAKER_12Here we go. We're going straight in it. We're doing it.
SPEAKER_03I think you should put that on over your driver's suit. Oh, I'm if you make it into the Supers, wear that over yourself.
SPEAKER_02Wear this for the B and B. Pull your shirt out. Pull your shirt out. It looks like you got wood.
SPEAKER_12Oh no.
SPEAKER_02I'm wearing this Saturday over my suit. Over my suit. I'm wearing this other day.
SPEAKER_12Take a look at here, if you would. It wasn't even planned, okay? I'm just saying.
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Oh God. Give me a smile, Bobcat. This is good. Yes. Hey.
SPEAKER_13Appreciate the little things in life.
SPEAKER_03That's right.
SPEAKER_13That's right. Putting this on the Facebook page right now.
SPEAKER_03Do it.
SPEAKER_02Oh God. So our own packaging went great.
SPEAKER_14Ivan saved that Snapchat.
SPEAKER_02Ivan did? Of course he did. We saved the Snapchat about checking the goddamn oil. Because that blew up today the rest of the way. Yeah, but it was ready to go anyway.
SPEAKER_12The Ranger's not ticking around anymore.
SPEAKER_02No, she's more like Danger Ranger's done. She's boomed. It's uh it's hammered. Dead F B Daddy, come pick me up. Oh, it does have the pocket hider. Oh. Oh, that's not very big. What's that for of a mini vibrator? What are you finding in there? That's just for an extra smoke if you need one. Or something, you know. Stash a little snagged. Breathman or something. Maybe some loop. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Or something. Yeah. I got you covered.
SPEAKER_12Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_02All right. Well.
SPEAKER_03Thank you, B. Yes. Paul went out of his way on that one.
SPEAKER_10We really did. Yeah. You can fill it up with baby powder so I don't have to watch you do all that when it's hot out. Hey, bud.
SPEAKER_12Oh, there you go. He chafed. Little shot. I got the fix on that. Jonathan chafed. Oh, we've got the fix on that. I've given him the fix, but he hasn't ordered him yet.
SPEAKER_02No, my fix was I'm just commando now.
SPEAKER_03It's great. No, it's not great, Jonathan, because when I walked in your trailer and you was changing, all I seen was the fucking brown eye fucking stink fucking day. And you're bedded over, fucking. I'm like, God damn. I don't need to see that shit.
SPEAKER_09Well, less than stuff.
SPEAKER_03He's like, what, man? And he turns around fucking. I was changing.
SPEAKER_09Yo, we weren't aware. Yeah. Yeah. It was a dead giveaway. It was. Anyway.
SPEAKER_12We're a quarter of a block from the track, so let's get the train back on them somehow. If we can.
SPEAKER_13Well, we're going to go to the Elm Quest. Sorry, Jake, but we're going right into the Elm Quest question of the week on that one. Which the question was, how long did it take you to get your first win and where was it? And 106 comments on that. Yeah. Did you have all 106 or were you at about 85?
SPEAKER_02I had all 106. Oh, look at that. I think everybody's starting to unblock me. Yep. That's what's going on. Why would they ever block you?
SPEAKER_11We were trying to figure that out for a while.
SPEAKER_02I had people that were blocking me and congratulating me, but they had me blocked, so I couldn't even see it. So other people were sending me the messages. It was great. Sure, they were. I'm serious. I'll show it to you. It's not what you know until you know. John Strabley sent it to me, bud, right here. No, check it out right here. He's like, blocked, but is happy for you. Laugh out loud. I'm like, people blow my mind. He goes, need to make a bobcat blocked shirt for the haters. And I'm like, on it. Yeah. So the new Bobcat block shirt will come on. But yeah, the dude literally sends me a picture of this gal here, uh, Roma Strabel, had me block. Because I even commented and was like, Who has me blocked? I can't see the comment. And her comment was after I won it, boon, was that was a great race. So happy for you, Bobcat, but I couldn't see it. So my good friend John sent it to me.
SPEAKER_10It's disappointing because you see so much just trash on Facebook that you're like, God, I'm actually missing the good stuff. Right now, the the feature. What do you want to say on Facebook? Hope, you know. Do you want to say anything? When you won, I gotta ask you, did you write like a four-page novel on every lap and analysis and what happened and luck and this and that and tight on the right front and loose here? Big rise down on that one. You know, if you write he'll like the big long ones. And I'll shout out to to Brett Lotioff on this. We talk and stuff, and he he's always talking about how I don't want to hear your excuses. I don't want to read this novel. Like, you know, I was like like the Nelson boys. Like, Gary got third. Colton sucked. We'll be at Steward on next week. That's it. And we talked about the hey. That's okay.
SPEAKER_13We talked about those guys, and they're seriously some of the funniest people. I got the Nelsons?
SPEAKER_10Oh great kids. Great kids. Colton's like, won the first race ever, been downhill since.
SPEAKER_09Well, his hood was downhill.
SPEAKER_03Garrett uh when the whole hog was two-day show. Hey, that's all right. Garrett, he would uh shack up in the trailer. Yep. Yeah. Or he would sleep in his pickup the whole time. But we uh kind of took him under our wing a little and uh take care of him and uh we'd feed him. Help him out when we can. And uh he slept in the toter and had to deal with Buck and all his stuff. What do I want to say? Extra Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_10His uh acquaintances But I mean you're talking about guys that do it on I mean they they do things that on the racetrack that you know you see all these guys with all this I mean, this high dollar equipment and all this stuff, and it's like those guys do stuff that people wouldn't even dream of doing, and they're going out there. Buying used tires competing and you know winning and stuff, and that's what I really like to see.
SPEAKER_03That real that was a good moment when he won that race. Yeah, sure. I mean, that's I mean it was it was epic for him.
SPEAKER_12Yep.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Do you have any good ones on there?
SPEAKER_13Yeah, so the Kyle Porter's is really funny. He said most important race in my life, it was June of '93. There were millions of competitors, but I crossed the line to finish first. That's awesome. That's pretty good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_12I think we I think we've all done that one. Everybody's just wanted to be able to do that. I mean, I'm an 88.
SPEAKER_02I was an 88 champ. 78.
SPEAKER_1378. Yeah. Yeah. 94 months. But uh yeah, I didn't realize uh Big L took him 10 years. There's a lot on there that are like long, long time.
SPEAKER_02Holy smokes.
SPEAKER_12I stuck with it for a long time. How long did it take you, Bobcat?
SPEAKER_02It took me in my so 93 starts. And I got my first win at Boone Speedway, and then uh backed it up the next weekend with uh season championship win, and then won the third race I ever won was the IMCA Supernationals. I love that. My 96th start.
SPEAKER_11I love that story.
SPEAKER_02Um that was unreal. I mean like I said, we've talked about it in prior podcasts. I mean, every weekend we were on the frame machine fixing my car the first year, you know. Major growing pains. And then uh you know, we picked up the yeah, the super I mean I you know, like I said, we had the crate, we beat the crate killer at the time. I mean, it was just a wild, wild thing. I mean, I had Speedway Magazine, Dan, and all these places calling me, and I'm like, they're you know, oh man, you know, and I'm like, I it's just another race. Like, I've raced a lot to get here. And is it cool to win the supernaturals? Well, yeah, because my dad won it. But for it to be my first ever my my third race, you know, we it was just saying, yeah, it really was. Like Strickler, Kyle Strickler had won that year, and uh I'm like, I don't ever wear sandals. I don't know, I'm weird, but I just we got so drunk that night at Supernationals, and I'm not a drinker, but uh we got so drunk I was wearing sandals the next day. You know, I we took pictures out in front of the Adobe with our flags, and you know, we had our rings and then we went to uh you know the banquet and stuff, you know, to get your helmet and shit and everything. And we got really drunk there and wound up in a gay bar and didn't know it was a gay bar until we knew You exactly knew what it was. No, we really didn't. Yeah, you know. It was the only place that didn't have a cover to get in. Oh the gay bar? Yeah. Okay. My bartender loved it. And it was just this whole thing. Like it was just it was so I puked the whole next day, the toter broke down when we were out there. We it was a thing. Great time. That was my yeah, it was my third win. Yeah. Epic. When was your first one, Josh?
SPEAKER_12Uh it was 2001. I started racing in '99, the hobby sock. And so I ran two full seasons on some heat races. But um the night that I got my first win was at Boon Speedway. And uh Perry Graphics, Joe used to do the stickers, he did the stickers for me. He put one on my sun visor that night. It was a new sponsor that I'd gotten. And uh he put it on and he patted it, and he said, It's good for three tenths, bud. And I went out one feature that night. And he came down Victory Lane and stood there and we took pictures, and it was just, I'll never forget it. I mean, you know, we talked about it early on, one of the first podcasts, because when I crossed the line, it was like, I gotta go take pictures with Big Bill, you know, in Victory Lane. I'm like, I'd seen people do it, I'd been with people that have done it, but it's I got to do it for the first time.
SPEAKER_02It's different.
SPEAKER_12It was awesome. I mean, it just was so it does. And it opened the gates like I won three more times that year at Stuart.
SPEAKER_02That is why I love the John Logue first times winners race. To see that raw emotional. That's the greatest. It's pretty cool. You know what I mean? To see that raw emotion. I mean, until like the one year in the stock cars, and we're like rolling three guys on the back stretch, everybody's like, Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I'm pretty sure the wife looked straight at me the one year and said, Are we gonna have any fucking cars left by the end of this? Because we had Myers in one, Drew in one, and Jeremy.
SPEAKER_11Yep.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I'm like, just relax, it'll be alright. And I'd watch another piece of sheep, and I don't get tore off, and I'm like, God damn. But it was great to watch. I mean, it was it was super fun. It took me uh I won on my third year. Okay. But you gotta realize that we only raced 20 times a year, 21 at the most. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_03At that track. Yeah. So I mean, we done all right. Buck uh he hadn't raced that many. His dad got him started and then uh I took over from that.
SPEAKER_12Six six races?
unknownSix years.
SPEAKER_12Six years? Yeah. Hey, Buck racing.
SPEAKER_03But he was racing down there, and then uh Buck and I have been together together since uh he was five years old. So he's my kid. And uh I took him everywhere.
SPEAKER_15Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And he got his first win at Fairmont, Minnesota. That's awesome on the big track, man. I mean, like I said, uh and then it's just it it's it went wild since uh Buck Wild. We we hooked up with Jonathan.
SPEAKER_02I mean, just everything that's went on and the year that stood out the most for me on that deal was when Buck had the because you guys have had bush light cars, bud light cars. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I was I put him in the gay car, but that's all right.
SPEAKER_02Right. We were at we were at Stewart and he had the Bud Light car, and his left front was this high off the ground. Uh-huh. And he had that weird looking body that the Oh, that was the badassest looking car I've ever seen.
SPEAKER_03No, I know. That's what I'm saying. It was a tempo, or it wasn't all the tempo.
SPEAKER_02What was it? A Grand Prix? Grand Prix. I I just had never I didn't know who they were, you know, but I mean he won the race that night. Yep. And it was just like, wow.
SPEAKER_03You know? It was cool. Yep. I remember sitting on the back stretch under a red flag at Stuart. I'm looking across the track going, God damn, that looks like Buck upside down up there. And he clipped the tire because over he went. That's how Team Blue Lighter was born. See, these kids, uh, I always commend Buck. Because I always come in and I'm kind of like Harry Hogg on Days of Thunder. And I say, I look at the car and I go, didn't disappoint me, Buck. Gotta fix another fender.
SPEAKER_10That's how that's how Team Blue Lighter was born.
SPEAKER_03Buck's like, I'll fix that bitch.
SPEAKER_10He had a yellow lighter that night. And I'm like, well, yellow lighter, that's those are unlucky. And he's like, We all carry blue lighters. And he went and he rolled that night. And he's like, the next day he sent me a Snapchat. He's like, You were right. This thing's unlucky, and he just hucked it out the window. So we've all had the we've had the blue lighter clip, right? So everybody buys blue lighters. And he won like the next three in a row after that. And I'm like, told you maybe.
SPEAKER_03But then Buck caught on Buck caught on fire, and then uh we put him in the stock carn and rest is history.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. It's been pretty good.
SPEAKER_03He actually should have won the Supernationals one year, but um he missed his mark.
SPEAKER_11Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay, we all do it. We've all done it. Donovan Smith, I believe, won that year, right? Yep. Yep. And he said right in his interview that it was Bucks race to win. He just missed his mark, but I was the most proud stepdad you ever seen in your life. I mean, you just finished third in this marathon we've been at for fucking nine days. Fucking fantastic.
SPEAKER_13Yeah. That's cool. And like some of the, you know, like you said, some of those guys are been racing for a long time. Well, we t we've talked about it.
SPEAKER_02One in every seven drivers wins a race. One in every twenty wins a championship. That put that in perspective, people. Like you're talking in a 24-car field, you're talking according to those numbers, three guys out of that field are gonna win that race according to the numbers. One in seven drivers. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I never won a championship. I've never won one. I chased him at uh NASCAR track and uh I finished second to this one guy repeatedly. And it was always a duel with us. I always wanted one. It was always a battle. It was a battle. I mean, every week he started 11th and I started twelfth, or I was eleventh and he was twelfth. Points shit. And uh he knew how to play the game better than me. I was there to race. And uh the one year I was going for the championship, uh, this guy came and he clipped me. I was coming off the bottom. He was running around the outside and he thought it'd fit and he will hop me. And crashed him out. They sent me to the back for no reason, and then they uh sent this buddy of theirs out there to get me to take me out. And uh he didn't race again after that race.
SPEAKER_09He missed. He missed. Or it was an unsuccessful. No, he did it, he missed and I hit. It was an unsuccessful thing.
SPEAKER_03And I said, Oh yeah, bitch, you're at Taldega and you're going in head first. Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, I just ended it there. That's how it goes. He didn't come back. So Paul fuck with a bull, you're gonna get the horn. But uh I'm very good about not retaliating and stuff. I mean I I'm not, you know, Bobcat. Jonathan, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, I'm that guy that's pretty lenient. Paul messaged me and says he's gonna frame that picture, whoever sent it to him. Just saying.
SPEAKER_12Was it UG? Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02All right.
SPEAKER_12I sent one to Andrea, but she hasn't even looked at it. On Facebook. On me. I put it on the Facebook page. That's where it comes from. Okay.
SPEAKER_03All right. All right. What other questions do you have for Bob Cap? Any? You got one for me? No. Okay. I don't know. How about Big Rack?
SPEAKER_12Well, we definitely got to do some mayhem.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, we've got to talk about the mayhem. What's the mayhem? It's uh Moffat's Ford. So they sponsor a mayhem segment. Alright. I think this is an easy one.
SPEAKER_13Yeah.
SPEAKER_12But it's gotta be, it's gotta be Austin Gray. Like, I don't know, short of Strabley, I don't think I've seen anybody go off that corner that fast. That hard. That hard. So yeah, I would give it to Austin.
SPEAKER_02I I second that. My motion that we move that to make it the Moffitt's mayhem of the week. All in favor. All in favor, please say aye. Yeah, that was a lie. That had to be right. Although we did have there was a little mayhem down uh at Shelby County Speedway with the flying bomb pop and the wahoo this week. Oh, that was awesome. If we see that, hey, good night. They got a little spicy down there coming off a turn two. Turn three. Oh, that was awesome. Well, did you see the confusion was though when I brought this up? Is the everybody thought that he got DQ's because of that? He didn't get DQ'd because of that. He got DQ'cause he didn't go to the tech area after the race because he thought he was black flag. Yep. So uh I I was confused because I was like, why the why the hell did he get DQ? I mean Makai always runs you know fairly well everywhere he goes and and usually makes the tech pad. Um so I was I was curious of you know, was it his chipbox or was it one of the BHE cheated up icon cars? You know, you never know. Oh I'm kidding. You never know. But uh, you know, I just you know was curious with that and I seen Matt had coming had commented on it and said that the reason that he had gotten DQ'd because he went directly to his trailer. So uh but yeah, crazy uh there was a there was a couple of tumbles. It's just I think Austin Grace for how fast it was and where he ended and thank God he's okay. I did anybody go in down and check out his car? I mean, I know uh he runs a bullet chassis and and uh Andy Bryant built is a very good fabricator, and those cars are pretty strong. The nine car we did see him come across the racetrack afterwards, and it just looked basically cosmetic, even though he rolled at least five or eight times. He tumbled five or eight.
SPEAKER_15Noticed that too, yeah.
SPEAKER_13Hard tumble. But yeah, like I said, I talked to Austin and like I said earlier, and he was like, I well, I texted him on Sunday and was like, How are you doing? Are you feeling okay? And he's like, Oh, a little bit sore, but not bad. And then I talked to him today, and he's like, Oh man, I am not I'm really sore.
SPEAKER_12I bet. 41 likes on that picture, Jonathan, in a matter of minutes? That's pretty good.
SPEAKER_10Yeah. I do look good. You got a fan club. It's not the word I would use described. Have you seen it? Yeah, that's pretty good. You liked it, didn't you? I saw it on your phone.
SPEAKER_13Oh, you saw it. Yeah. That quick.
SPEAKER_12Nice.
SPEAKER_13Um hey, you do look nice and trim, though. Right? Yeah. You do, yeah.
SPEAKER_12So something we also we put out there was a giveaway. Um I would I'm gonna vote that we do that maybe tomorrow. Tomorrow night. Yeah. We can get together and uh either try to do another live. Uh we've had really terrible success with that.
SPEAKER_02But uh Well, uh we need to keep try try try again. Yes, we will. We will, we'll get it figured out. You're gonna do you're gonna do the giveaway tomorrow night? How are you gonna get in that giveaway, guys?
SPEAKER_13Well, it's the same, it's the one that we have you share if you share the uh merch store. Yep. Share the merch store online and tag a friend.
SPEAKER_12Tag a friend, like you get an extra bonus entry, and uh we'll throw that all into the uh the big machine. And we'll do oh because we're doing the installation kit, and I believe we're doing a couple t-shirts. Yeah, the Ma Winnie Shirt, Jonathan McWinny shirt.
SPEAKER_13Um then tickets tickets to Boon Speedway for Saturday.
SPEAKER_12So tickets to the grandstands or pit pass? Tickets to the grandstands is a courtesy too.
SPEAKER_03I think it should be I think it should be the pit.
SPEAKER_12Courtesy of JTA JTS Motorsports. He paid for them. Justin. Justin. Oh Fire Chief Justin. Oh, nice. Fire Chief Justin, yeah. Yep. Right on.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Well, what's this stuff?
SPEAKER_02He can give away stuff to get in. Um we do a giveaway on the show. Like people send stuff in like BB. They sent in this awesome bushing install kit. Yeah. That we're gonna give away.
SPEAKER_12They sent you a thong, dude. Oh, he's not giving that away. No, he's gonna give you that. Oh, okay. That's yours.
SPEAKER_02I'm wearing this Saturday. Good job, Paul. Over my suit. Good job. In Victory Lane. Because I'm winning the first feature. I'm calling. You gotta pull your pants off and put that bitch on. Well, no, I gotta, it's gotta be PG-13. So I'm gonna wear it over my suit. Yeah. Yep. So that way we can see it.
SPEAKER_03How about this? You leave after the raise it erases PG-13. Instead of me looking in the trailer going, God damn.
SPEAKER_02By the looks of it, X, you'll be seeing just about the same thing because that ain't covering up.
SPEAKER_09Just saying, but I'll put you in.
SPEAKER_13Oh, that's great. Well, I don't really have anything else. Do you?
SPEAKER_12No, I just thanks you guys for coming up. Thank you. We're wishing you good luck on Sunday.
SPEAKER_03We'll be watching the whole whole pay's good. Hopefully we get uh 200 to start at least two lanes. I'd really like three lanes. I I'd like to be able to race over the whole track, Mike. But uh, I'm just saying that make that bitch wide. Yeah. Let's put on a show.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, we'll come down and support. It'll be three wide start. Yep, yep. Come and support.
SPEAKER_02Uh there's not very many shows that you go to that are uh 2,500 to win, 200 to start, one day show close. Um and pays back and pays back very, very well. It's on the flyer.
SPEAKER_03We've taken off uh Jonathan helps me a lot with that. I I like doing these shows or help them put them on. I got roped into the King of the Catwalk and now that's kind of exploded. But uh I I lean towards Jonathan to help with that stuff because he has a better insight on it with Peyton Taylor and I mean just we know what's going on. The marketing end. Yeah, I I believe that uh all promoters are track owners. They all tell you the same thing. Oh man. I didn't make shit. Well, we can run a calculator too. And I I I disagree at times that uh this is what's going on. I mean, I've uh we come up with the small I mean everything. And uh I just uh I want people to support our race and uh we'll be good to you.
SPEAKER_12Well it's a lot of work. I mean it's a tough.
SPEAKER_03It is, it is, but there's a little more love. There's sometimes more time should be put into a racetrack, and when you are spending too much time at other racetracks, you don't get to spend the time there. Cause when a uh track takes rubber and you're not very far into that race, that means we haven't been there much or whatever. I just want a good, solid track. I want good racing, hard racing. That's what we look for. Uh you can come to me and say whatever you want. I'll listen to you. But uh that's that's the deal. I do we just want to payback good. Jonathan likes it. Jonathan's my spokesman at every race we put on, and uh we do well at it.
SPEAKER_10I like the payback into it because you know you go down there and it's like, oh well, winner gets five hundred or five grand, and then you know, you get seventh place and you got you know two hundred and five bucks.
SPEAKER_03Hey, I was happy at Boone the last time I was there. I felt stellar, and I fucking run up front, run up front, and then everybody started freight training around the top because it was starting to take rubber, I think. And I ended up like eighth. And I made it into the ninety dollar pay scale. Yes, I made it out of the eighty, and I looked at McBurney's and says, I made it, man. And they're like, what? And I said, 90 bucks.
SPEAKER_09Made it off 80. Oh, I was I was we made it to DeSot.
SPEAKER_03I looked at Buck and says, We gonna stop at Quickstar. We stop at Quickstar and get chicken. I'd really like to see Quickstar be a sponsor. Uh so if Quickstar's out there listening, we got room. Yeah. Right. And we'll do it for chicken.
SPEAKER_15Right.
SPEAKER_03And some blazers. Yeah. And some what? The the donuts. The dunkers? Yeah, the donkers. Oh, yeah. The rest. Oh yeah, it's the blueberry dunkers. Buck, you about ready to go so we can go get a quick start? He's ready for quick start. I got a three-hour trek home, so it's gonna be a late night for me.
SPEAKER_12Well, thank you guys. Thanks for having me.
SPEAKER_03Oh, no problem. Thank you so much for having us. And uh Jonathan will keep you posted on uh our other races. And obviously, we have the King of the Catwalk, which is uh I know the whole hog's uh its race, and that's where it kind of started and everything, but uh I feel privileged and honored to have the King of the Catwalk.
SPEAKER_12It's a really cool race. It's awesome.
SPEAKER_03Fantastic. And I I won't even tell how that race originated for another trailer. I don't think we should. We'll leave that for another time. Maybe that's a trailer. Let's just say I got a phone call. Yep. There you go. There you go. And I uh first person I called was Jonathan, and I said, What do I do? And you know what he said?
SPEAKER_12Do it, do it, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh I ain't gonna say the exact words, but uh yeah.
SPEAKER_12Do it, bud.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I mean along those lines. When Doug Smith I mean when I when Doug's I mean, look at the lineup of those things. Oh, yeah. I mean, a boon. Yep, I mean, it's look at it. Yep. It was uh basically a supernational feature. Right. Doug Smith, I mean, like I said before, it's taken me a long time to get in there with them guys or just get them to, or her even to smile, but uh just to get in there with them.
SPEAKER_15Yeah.
SPEAKER_03But uh yeah. I love everything we do for this sport, and getting out. Well, we appreciate it.
SPEAKER_12We do. We appreciate the hell any turn on guys.
SPEAKER_03What do you what does he say in that movie? Wolf of Wall Street. I'm not leaving. I'm not leaving. Yep. And the crowd roars.
SPEAKER_13That's great. All right. Well, we want to thank Central Iowa Diesel Performance, Elmquest towing, Adobe Lounge, Housebe Truck Cube, Logue Fabrication, P1P Canopy, Moffitt's Ford. Home of the Million Mile Warrant.
SPEAKER_03The Million Mile Warrant each.
SPEAKER_02Right here at Big Ford Dealership. If you're looking for a Ford pickup, make sure to get out there to Moffat's. They will hook you up.
SPEAKER_13Absolutely. He's got her down. He does everything. I do have to throw a shout out to Jed at Central Iowa DC Performance because those guys jumped on with us first and foremost. They were excited about it, and uh he stuck with us through this whole deal. And uh I know they've been busy over there, and he's like, Man, I we've we've been swamped, so I haven't even really caught up with everything, but we do appreciate those guys for being our biggest supporters.
SPEAKER_02They are for the racers. So if you are a racer and you need your stuff worked on, they are the guys, they are the diesel guys.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_02Get them on the other hand.
SPEAKER_03And you know what, right there, Jonathan, what you said, that's what we pride ourselves on.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_03I'm for the racer. Yeah. We are for the racer.
SPEAKER_13Yep, absolutely.
SPEAKER_03Because we're the ones that they come to watch, they don't come to watch some guy prep the track and do this and that. They come to watch us. Yeah. And the people. And one last shout out.
SPEAKER_13Yeah. Barntown.
SPEAKER_03Buddy, this shit's good. Okay.
SPEAKER_04I mean, we got Todd converted. I'm putting it in the bar, man.
SPEAKER_03Oh, Buck's sitting over there. He's Pepsi and Domino's down. He's ready.
SPEAKER_10I can make her home. I got that way, it'll just keep on driving. Once I hit Todd's, I got Todd's is halfway between here and my place. So there is halfway point, and then I'll just keep rolling on.
SPEAKER_03And if he needs to, he has his own room at our house. Oh, there you go. I got the north wing.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, the north wing. Yeah, there you go. Well, could you quit playing with that at all? It's freaking me out.
SPEAKER_09We just put this, just this on us.
SPEAKER_12Todd, there's gonna be Snapchats coming up.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. It's exciting.
SPEAKER_12Well, we can knock this thing in the head.
